This is more like it and we have a brand new thread now.
Jo-Of course I remember you, in fact I think about you very often. Gosh, I can't believe you are back with us, I am sooooooo excited that you are back. :welcome2: Just when I thought we were ready to die here, with most everyone MIA.
It is so good to hear from you. We really missed you so much, things haven't been the same without you as it has not been without our many other friends that have been in the group through the years. :grouphug:
It sounds like you have been doing wonderfully since we last heard from you. It is great that you are still with Rich and are engaged, congratulations to the both of you. Your ring sounds beautiful, how wonderful that it is the same one Rich's Dad gave his Mom many years ago. I know that has to have so much meaning to you. :cloud9: I am so sorry about your Dad and I hope and pray he will be ok. It has to be hard going back and forth every weekend to your Mom's, but you are a wonderful daughter and I know your Dad loves seeing you during this time.
Kim-Don't worry Kim, I plan to stay here with you guys and plan to post lots more often, this is home to me and hopefully like you said we will have more oldies back in the fold and newbies too, they are always welcome here. I am in the same boat as you and Jo too, I have been trying so hard, it seems at times that I take 1 step forward and 2 steps back, but we will be here for each other and get where we want to be. :cp:
OK, time for all the little Wannabee's to come on back, CJ, Rena, Dallas, Bethz and anyone and everyone else that has posted with us and any new people who are looking for a home too. Feel free to post with us, we would love to have you join our wonderful group. :gossip:

Well, it's over. My dad died around lunchtime on Friday 7/18. The past few days have been pretty bad and the next few will probably be worse. But I'll get through. My family's great and we will get through it. Dad was in really bad shape and is in a much better place now. He's seeing his mom and dad again and feeding biscuits to my dog, my brother's and my sister's, all of whom we also lost these past 2 years.
There's been an awful lot of sorrow in my family lately but we've rallied and, except for a few issues here and there, we're hanging in there. Saturday night, we went through literally hundreds of photos and laughed and cried. Unfortunately, we (I) also ATE and drank too much "stuff". But that too will pass.
Memorial service (dad never wanted a big viewing/funeral mass/etc) is Wednesday morning. Until then, I'm back home and back to work. I need to have some "mundane" in my life.
Interestingly, I read my horoscope (I NEVER do that) in the paper the day after my dad died. It talked about taking on new challenges and knowing that I can win.
I think it's time to recommit to weight loss!
I'll be talking to you soon, I promise.
07-20-2008, 09:38 PM
I am truly sorry about you losing your Dad. I know you must have loved him so much, but your family is there for you and so are we. If you need to talk, vent or cry go ahead and post when you need us. I too know about losing your loved ones, as I have lost my Mother, my little brother Rick-remember my SIL, Chrissy's husband-former Thin Group, and finally I don't think you were posting with us, but my brother, Jerry. he lived with us and I took care of him for 5 years, he was mentally challenged and had COPD as well and that is what killed him, his heart just couldn't take all the breathing attacks and having to go to the hospital all the time. It is so hard losing people you love isn't it? I didn't know you lost a brother and sister(s) too, did you lose more than one brother and sister? You know life sometimes isn't fair is it? :halffull: Now I only have 1 brother left and never had a sister, but have loved to have had one. You have been an angel  for all you have done since you Dad has been sick, driving back and forth and for all you have done for your family. :)
It is strange what your horoscope said about you taking on new challenges and I think that is a good path to follow, I know I am tired of not being where I want to be. I was doing pretty good before and now I am just holding and staying the same, but let's challenge ourselves and everyone else to do this. :dust: You will win this Jo, like your horoscope said. I am with you for recommiting, but right now just focus on your family and friends and especially I know your Mom needs you to be there for her as well. So take care my friend and see you when you post again. :comp:
I know you will be back with us and until than I love you Jo, and hope to talk to you when you are ready. :yay:
07-21-2008, 03:03 PM
Hi again! Just a quick post from me. I don't have much time today but I wanted to post more often and I'm gonna! :D I'm at work today and tomorrow and then driving up to mom's to deal with all the "stuff".
Kim, thanks for the message. Like I said, you'll be hearing from me. Rich's dad died about 2 years ago and his mom is coming in for the memorial service. Nice lady but I'm not sure I need the stress of "entertaining" my future MIL.
Sharon, sorry, I think I caused some confusion. What I meant in my last post was that my dad is now feeding biscuits to my dog, my brother's dog and my sister's dog - all of whom died over the past 2 years. I got my love of animals from my dad so I think he's taking good care of them in Heaven.
OK, I did say this was going to be a quick post. I'm trying to get a week's work done in 2 days. It's all good. After the past couple of weeks, it's kinda' nice to have some mundane "normalcy" in my life. :kickcan:
Probably won't have 'net access while I'm away but I'll check back in when I can. Maybe we'll even have a few more Wannabee's by then!
07-29-2008, 10:12 AM
OK, I was kinda' hoping to see all sorts of names and "faces" here when I got back. Where is everyone? :tantrum:
Memorial service went well. It was, of course, sad but it was also nice. I was doing OK until my big brother made his speech and then I lost it. Still it was nice to see some folks I hadn't seen in a while, etc.
The family went back to the house afterward and ate. And ate. And ate. And ate. As is usual in things like this, everyone brought lots of food. :hun: No wonder I can't lose weight. I eat for ANY occasion! :ink:
Things have calmed down. I stayed with mom until Saturday afternoon and then had to come home. She lives with my youngest brother so she's not alone so that's good. Meanwhile, Rich had been your basic bachelor while I was gone. Yikes. :fr: I'll be cleaning the house for a while. Men!
But back to work now. It's almost nice to be back at work and getting back into my routine. (Who said that!?) I still have to get some good groceries into the house so I can stop with the :jeno: and :burger: and get reacquainted with the good stuff.
Come on, buddy, let's dance! :carrot:
Talk to you later!
07-29-2008, 09:40 PM
Jo - I'm glad the memorial service went well. I also eat for any occassion. I can understand where your coming from!
I had an interview at Accountemps today. The gentleman that interviewed me was very impressed with my resume, and my evaluation scores. He said he shouldn't have a problem placing me, specially since I'm willing to drive to Indy or Ft. Wayne for a job. I'm kinda hoping for Ft. Wayne if I can't get someplace close to here because it is just a little closer than Indy, and the traffice around Fishers, Noblesville, and the Carmel area is awful. Money wise, it would probably be better to get a job in Carmel. The county that city is in is the 'richest' county in the state, and Carmel is the 'richest' city in the state so pay around there is a lot better than where I live. The county I live in had the highest rate of unemployment not too long ago. :( I figure my chances of getting something around here isn't that great compared to bigger cities. Then I have to factor in the gas money. Anything right now would be better than unemployment.
Guess that's it for now. I'll write more later.
08-04-2008, 01:55 PM
Hi Kim and anyone else who stops by.
So Kim, how'd the interview/job stuff go? Hope it worked out for you.
Me, I'm getting my life back together, I think. The family stuff has finally quieted down a bit and I'm getting back to my routine. I'm going to be on vacation on Thur and Fri this week, heading "back home" for an annual music festival (read that as lots of really bad-for-me food ;) ) and will see mom and some other relatives again. She's slowly adjusting to life without my dad.
Anyway, hopefully, once I get back to town at the end of the weekend, I can finally get my diet plan back on track. Haven't decided if I'll go back to Weight Watchers (probably not - too expensive) or maybe try TOPS. It's taking that first step that's always tough for me. :stress:
But, for now, I'm at work and I guess I'd better get to it. Lots to do in the next couple days before I leave for vacation. Hope all is going well with all the Wannabees!
08-04-2008, 09:01 PM
I had two more interviews last week. One was on Thursday with a company that is sort of a temp service company but they are owned by accounting companies, with one of the biggest accounting services in the country being the major stockholder so this temp service hires for the accounting companies that own them. It went well, and it's another one of those waiting games. Waiting on them to find someplace to place me.
Friday, I interviewed with F.E.M.A.
I received a call from them today and I have to go to Indy tomorrow for fingerprinting. It's a little less than I wanted ($0.50 an hour less), and it's only temporary (they are here in Indiana because of all the flooding that happened in June) until probably sometime in October or November. The upside is it is 40 hours a week to start, and once things get rolling, then it will easily be a six days a week job working 8 to 10 hours a day. Overtime is anything over 8 hours plus Saturday is overtime. I want to take it, but a little part of me is telling me not to take it. I think it's because it's a temp. job. But the overtime will be good and the bring home pay on even just the 40 hours is definately more than I'm making on unemployment. About $100 more than I'm getting now. Of course, that will probably be gas money to start with until I start working the overtime. I figured Saturdays will take care of the overtime, and then I will have the Mon-Fri. pay to live on (which will definately be more than unemployment).
The really bad downside to this job is it is an hour and a half drive one way. If it wasn't for the traffic in that area of Indy, or the area I have to go through to get there, mileage wise, it should only be about 45 to an hour drive. Like I said in my previous post, traffic in Noblesville, Fishers, and the Castleton area (where the job is at) is always heavy.
Guess that's it for now. Talk to you later.
08-05-2008, 11:21 AM
It seems we are the only ones here so far, but hope more come in and post with us soon. :comp:
Gosh this summer has been such a busy one for us, first going to New Orleans and than we all went to Gatlinburg, the whole family. Both of my daughters, Kelly and Tracy, and their husbands and their baby boys went as well as my 2 sons, Dan and Alan, and Alan's girlfriend too. We had a great time there, :joker: stayed in a 3 bedroom timeshare in Sieverville and did so many things, went to the aquarium, Parrot Mountain and saw all the birds there that we could actually hold and even went to play Black Light miniature golf too. We just enjoyed being a family and doing things together, the timeshare had a great pool, hot tub and kiddy pool too for the little boys, Tyler and Brandon. I love eating out much of the time, I love to cook but not so much when we are going all the time. It was a nice break for us. We have not been on a family vacation since the kids were much younger and that usually consisted of camping with our pop up camper, which was so much fun too.
Where did this summer go? It seems to be flying by doesn't it. August is here and before you know it fall will be too. Hope everyone is having a great summer so far. I am looking forward to just not going so much, we are going to Michigan this weekend, we are moving Ken's Mom to an assisted living facility. She is slowing down now, she is almost 87 and has been in and out of the hospital, first with a blood clot, that they did surgery on and than she fell down and couldn't get up. She is currently in a first floor apartment about 6 blocks away from Ken's younger brother and his family. But this will be nice, she will have her own room and nurses and staff to check on her and she won't have to cook either and she will make new friends. So we have lots to do this weekend to clear her out of her apt. The family has already moved her to the facility and we just have to get the rest of her stuff moved into Don's garage awaiting a garage sale to help her out. Ken and I will be taking two cars so I can go over to Chrissy's, my sister in law, cause her daughter, Emily had a baby boy, little Dominick :bb: a few months ago, I have never seen him yet, but they are having a christening for him on Sunday and I wouldn't miss this. So Ken will go back Sunday night and I think I will stay a few days during the week more to see my family. I haven't seen my Dad, Papa since the spring sometime and I want to spend some time with him too. I am leaving it open when I am coming back. But this way I will be able to see both sides of the family. :hyper:
How is everyone doing?
Jo-I am with you, I am hoping to have more faces in here too, either previous Wannabee's or new ones too. All we can do is keep on posting and hope some lurkers join our merry group. :genie: I am glad your Memorial Service for your Dad went well. I know that is so hard, I remember my Mom's and my two brothers, but I know having your family there with you really helps doesn't it? I am glad your Mom has your brother living with her, that has got to help her out to have him there with all of this going on. So how did it go with your future mother in lawl when she came for the service? I hope it went well and your didn't stress yourself out over it. Have a good vacation with your family and post when you get back and let us know how it went and how your Mom is doing as well. She is a lucky Mom to have someone like you for a daughter. See everyone loves you Jo!
Kim-Gosh you have been a busy lady with all of those interviews and I know you are torn as to where you want to work, but you will make the decision that is right for you. :goodvibes I know there are so many pros and cons to the jobs, but maybe the job you choose will lead to a permenate position with a good company, especially the big accounting company, they sound like they have all kinds of connections with other companies as well. The FEMA job sounds like it would help you out better financially too, it is just I think a bit far for you to drive, but you can do it and the money will be good, especially the overtime $ you will make working there. It will be good experience too, no matter which of the jobs you decide to take. :lucky: Yes, I sure know about all of that traffic over there. When I was working those area's, going to all the schools for accessing the children I drove in those areas many times and geeze louise the traffic is nuts there, especially in Castleton anf Fishers, didn't go to Noblesville, but so much of Indy area traffic is crazy. :headache:
OK guys, hope to hear from more ladies or gentleman even soon. We would love to have any oldies or newbies too aboard. :welcome3:
Talk to you later, Love you, Sassy Sharon
08-05-2008, 06:46 PM
I just happened to look in on this and it sounds like a nice group to be a part of. My name is Jen and I'm new to all of this(the site and my weightloss journey) and would love to be a wannabee :D
08-07-2008, 10:06 PM
A great big welcome to our great group. :wel3fc: I am very glad you are going to join up with us. Post again and tell us more about yourself so we can get to know you better. Tell us about your family, how you are doing or want to do weightwise and what kind of program you are currently on. :hungry:
Talk to you soon I am sure. Waiting to hear from you, Sassy Sharon :dance:
08-14-2008, 11:36 AM
Well lets see... I'm 25, I've been married about 2 years and have 2 wonderful children... my daughter turned 2 last month and my son turns 3 tomorrow. When I was pregnant with my son I put on about 20 lbs that I had no problems getting rid of but then put on about 30-35 with my daughter and its hanging on to me for dear life! I'd like to get rid of about 50lbs and see how I feel about myself from there. I'm not really on any program... just counting calories and exercising more. We're not really in a place financially for me to join WW or even be a member of a gym. I've been using the daily plate and that has been a huge help to me! I'm not a very motivated person when it comes to this (or patient for that matter) so this has really been a struggle so far. I guess I really don't know what else to say about myself right now!
Talk to you later!! Jen:wave:
08-14-2008, 11:51 PM
Hi there Jen,
Thanks so much for posting again and letting us know more about you. It really helps to know more about a person and let's us get to know you a bit more. Don't worry that is a good start and we can learn more about each other as we post with the Wannabee's.
Your kids sound cute, the ages they are that cute age they go through. I am looking forward to knowing more about them and the rest of your family as well.
Yes, it is hard sometimes to lose weight. I think all of us struggle otherwise we couldn't be on here I don"t think. I want to lose at least 40 more pounds myself so we can do this together. :dust:
I am still in visiting the family in Michigan, where I grew up. I have been here since Friday when Ken and I took 2 cars up here to first move his Mom from her apartment to an assisted living facility and I split and went to my family and Ken went back to Indiana and now I am having fun with my family. Went to Greektown in downtown Detroit. Did a little gambling in the Greektown casino was up around $120, :yay: but today went to MGM Grand casino and was luckily only down about $20 of that money I won so that is not too bad. We went with my sister in law's, Chrissy sister, Carol, who is recovering from breast cancer and just had both of her breasts removed a few weeks ago. She wanted to get out so of course we went with her. Afterwards we all went to Wolfgang Pucks for lunch. Than tonight we went to a local outdoor mall, than went to PF Changs for dinner than to the moves, we saw Mama Mia. :corn: I have seen this movie for the 3rd time, once with my husband, Ken, once with daughter Tracy and tonight with Chrissy. Now all I have to do is see it again with daughter, Kelly, than son Dan said we could rent it and he would watch it with me. Than son Alan said if I want when he gets back to Qatar AFB than he wll go see it with me too. How lucky can I get????????? I took my daughters, Kelly and Tracy to that a couple of years ago when we were in Las Vegas and just loved the job they did with this, especially with Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosman too. Meryl can sing very well and I guess all I can say about Pierce is that his singing fits him. Not a terrific singer, but he did ok, but Meryl was really wonderful I thought. It was such a feel good fun movie, no violance, sex or even swearing. Anyone else see this movie? I just love it so much. I might have to just buy the DVD when it comes out to save money from seeing it so many times.
OK, so besides that how is everyone doing. Let's get some chatter in here, the weekend is almost upon us and it gets pretty quite in here by the weekend. So speak up guys, speak or forever hold your peace. :comp:
Love you guys, Sharon
08-26-2008, 10:44 PM
I don't know if anyone remembers me. I used to post on the Thin Group threads in 2001 and 2002 and for a short time in 2005. I haven't been back since then and was surprised to see Sharon and Jo posting here!
I live in the Lehigh Valley in PA and have two grown children, a daughter who is married and lives nearby, and a son, also married, who is a Navy doctor. Since I last posted, I have become a grandmother four times! I have three granddaughters, ages 3, 2, and six months, and a grandson, age four months. I work full time, but may retire in the next couple of years so that I have more time to travel.
I have not done anything to lose weight in the last few years, but I would like to try again, so I'm counting on you ladies for some inspiration. I hope some of you come back here and post again soon.
08-27-2008, 12:40 AM
Hello Trish and welcome back to the group. :welcome2: I have missed you and thought about you quite often and wondered what had happened to you. :yay:
It is great that you have come back to us. I remember you quite well and am so glad you are back with us again. I so remember both of your kids too, and of course your son, in the Navy, who is a doctor too. lad you are doing good and wow you are a Grandmother 4 times since you last posted. Congratulations to you! :congrat: I'll bet you sure love those little Grandchildren so darn much. I am a Grandmother too, of 2 little Grandsons. Remember I have 2 girls than 2 boys, both younger than the girls? Well my youngest daughter, Tracy, the one in the Air Force and stationed at Scott AFB in Illinois, near St. Louis and her husband have a boy, Tyler about 16 months now. Than my oldest daughter, Kelly, who is a teacher in Indy had a boy about 9 months ago, they were born last year and 6 months apart. I am in heaven with those little babies and such a proud Grandma too. In fact we just all went to Gatlinburg for the 4th of July and everyone went, including the little guys too. I just love being a Grandma as I am sure you really do. So I know how you feel, both of us are happy Grandma's indeed, I never knew it could be so much fun for me. My youngest son, Alan, is in the Air Force too, stationed at Qatar AFB near the United Emerence and Saudi Arabia. He will only be there for 6 months and than will return to his home base, Andrews AFB in Washington D.C. Only my daughters are both married and both my sons, Alan and Dan are both single. :twirly:
Don't worry I have not done good either on my WW program and we will help each other I just know it. We are kind of missing some ladlies, but hope to remedy that soon when we have more posting or for that matter any newbie who want to join a great group, just join us and post with us. We would love to have you. :cheer: Let's both work on this together to get where we want to be. :dust:
I sure hope that you can retire soon, that's all my husband talks about so one of these days it will happen I swear it will. :lucky:
Talk to you all soon and hope we have lots and lots of posts on this thread.

Hello all!
Hi Trish! I'll echo Sharon's welcome back. Of course, I remember you! In fact, I think of you each and every time I'm up on the Bethlehem/Allentown area. You live so close to me. One of these days, we just might have to meet up. :cofdate:
I've been in and out of Bethlehem quite often these past couple months. I was up there in July because my dad passed away. More recently, I was there for Musikfest, a better reason. Anyway, I have thought of you.
Add me to the list of folks not doing so well with the weight loss. Can't remember if I told you all that my niece is getting married in Hawaii next May and, after much debating :chin:, I've decided I'm going. When will I ever get the chance again!? Anyway, that gives me not quite 9 months to lose some weight. Geez, you think that'd get a fire burning under me, wouldn't you!? :flame:
One of these days, I'll get it, I think. I too need the help of the Thin Wannabees! :coach: :exercise: I'll be talkin' to you!
08-27-2008, 03:31 PM
Glad you could join Trish and myself, now if we had a few more posters or even lurkers posting that would be great!
Yes I am with you too, went to my Weight Watchers meeting today after not being able to go for 3 weeks, with traveling to Michigan for one week and everything else, but was disappointed to gain 5 pounds. So now I have to try to get that off and get to where I want to be in the long run. Well let's see, the holidays are coming upon us, well once October is over it will be here really quick. doesn't it seem that once Halloween :witch: is over with, it kind of sneaks up on you? So I figure we have a few good months till Thanksgiving :turkey: is here and than we will have another month till Christmas :tree: So Jo and Trish and everyone else-let's do this and help each other with our journey too. :grouphug: Anyone else care to join us? Post and let us know what you think and if you have any suggestions for that matter, than we would love to know and would love to get to know you. :goodvibes
So what is your plan? Here is mine:
1. I will get back to my WW program faithfully, and start eating heathly :broc: and right. Keep my journal so I can see at a glance how I have been doing. :cp:
2. Go back to my exersise program, get back to Curves or walk, do my Leslie Sansone tapes or go on my treadmill :woops: or exercise bike. :ebike:
3. Drink all my water required and cut back on the diet pop too. :D
4. Work really hard to get to where I want to be and to take one day at a time and not get hung up on the numbers, but rather start better choices in life and the rest will follow when I am doing what I need to be doing in my life. :)
Anyone else have a plan for the rest of the year and for the next year as well? Anyone, post and tell us what your plan is! :chin:
OK guys, we can do this! Please join us, we can use all the help we can get and we can all help each other! :dust:
Talk to you guys soon! :flow1: Sassy Sharon :dancer:
08-28-2008, 09:04 AM
Sharon and Jo, thanks for the welcome back. I'm at work and don't have time to write much now, but I wanted to let you know that I am here and will post at least a couple of times a week as long as you are here too.
I have a busy weekend planned. We're going to an Iron Pigs game (Phillies minor league) this evening. My four month old grandson (my daughter's son) is being baptised on Sunday, and my son and daughter in law are the godparents, so they are visiting for the weekend from NC. On Monday, we're going to a Labor Day picnic. Therefore, I'm waiting until next week to start a weight loss attempt.
Hope all of you have a great Labor Day weekend! I'll check back in early next week.
08-30-2008, 11:41 PM
That is good that you will be posting a couple times a week, I will really try to do the same and hopefully Jo will be able to stop by and anyone else who either wants to come on back or start fresh with us Wannabees. :dancer:
How was your game you went to. Did your team win? I sure hope so, it makes it so much better when you have a win. Hope your Grandson's baptism goes well and you have a great time this weekend with your family and friends. We are having a great weekend with our family, our daughter from Illinois and her family are visiting and tomorrow we are having a cookout with the rest of our family. :burger: So it will be great to see both of the Grandsons tomorrow at our house when our Indianapolis daughter, Kelly comes as well. We will be having a houseful, right now I am just taking a break from making potato salad, chocolate chip cookies and brownies too. Gosh this is a bad time this weekend, I already got into the cookie dough and am ready to start the brownies and who knows about that. Yes, I will try and keep my mouth shut :tape: but it is so hard sometimes when I am making food. We are having this barbecue so everyone can see Tracy when she comes to town, much easier than trying to run all over trying to see everyone. I am looking forward to tomorrow. :yay:
Jo-How is your holiday weekend going so far? Are you at your Mom's house with your family? Hope you are having fun and relaxing. Post and let us know!
Everyone have a wonderful weekend and Happy Labor Day to all! :twirly:

Hi Sharon  (and anyone else Hello? Hello?). Sorry to have been MIA. I have no good excuse. Time just seems to fly by. Just yesterday, I was looking forward to Spring and planting flowers and such and now it's September and almost Autumn already! Yikes. How'd that happen? Could I be getting old!? Nah. ;) Just busy.
As for my weight loss efforts, well . Can't say much. Did I tell you guys I'm going to Hawaii next May? :beach: The big plan was to lose 40+ lbs by then. So far, over the past couple weeks, I've lost well, let's just say "oops". :dunno: I've been trying to be good watching what I eat, making better choices, portion control and all that sort of thing. I've been drinking rivers of water and even trying to get some exercise in. :trampo: But I certainly haven't made the great progress that I was hoping to make. Still, it's a move in the right direction.
I'd been thinking of rejoining Weight Watchers but $$$$ = yikes! I'd also thought about the local meeting of TOPS but just never quite got there. I'm just "not ready", you know what I mean? I have a really bad habit of thinking only as far ahead as the next weigh-in. On Tuesday (or whatever my meeting day is) I practically starve myself just so I can see a good number on the scale. But after that, I just fall off the wagon again until the next week's weigh-in. And I tend to obsess about the meeting and the scale. :stress: What if I have a meal that's high in sodium or if I take a piece of birthday cake or something right before I get on the scale? I know the weight gain I see is probably only temporary but I get all worried about it. Then I skip a meeting and then another and it's a downhill slide.
No, I've pretty much decided that I've got to try to do this on my own, try to eat right and not worry so much about the scale number. The weight may not come off quite as fast as if I were on a more formal program but it's a learning process. Still, I really really really don't want to go sit on a Hawaiian beach at the weight I currently am! Blech. :moo:
Meanwhile, in other news, I've been spending a lot of time with my mom since my dad died. She's doing OK, not great but she's hanging in there. The whole family's pretty much rallying around :grouphug: and we all take one day at a time. Rich has been working long hours, 7 days a week, since the company he works for got new owners a couple months ago and decided to change a lot of things. That pretty much leaves me on my own evenings and weekends so I'm trying to keep busy. The house has never been so clean! LOL
Last weekend, we had a little damage from Hurricane Hanna. Not bad but it brought down some tree limbs and such. I spent Sunday outside cleaning up the yard and it felt good to get fresh air and exercise. Speaking of Hanna, Trish if you're out there, I heard about the damage to the high school in Allentown and all last weekend! Hope everything's OK with you.
In February 2007, some friends and I went to Vail, CO and I fell in love with snow-shoeing. My brother even got me a nice pair for Christmas last year. We didn't get much snow this past winter but the Farmer's Almanac has been calling for it this year. All I have to do is find a place where I can strap on the snowshoes and go out trekking. :running: I'm tickled because, usually in the winter, I just stay inside and hibernate.
Other than all that, there's not much going on in my life. Same ol' same ol'. I miss all the activity we used to have on this forum and hope to see some new (and old) faces again soon. Be talkin' to you!

I apologize for not checking in here last week like I promised. I guess it's because I don't have anything positive to report. I keep making excuses for myself and have not gotten started on a weight loss plan. In the past, I did WW Online with some success, so I may sign up for that again, but I haven't been motivated enough to do it. I'm going on a cruise in one month, and I'd like to lose some weight before then.
Jo, I live just west of Allentown, so I wasn't near the tornado. We just had a lot of wind and rain.
I'll check back later this week and let you know if I have gotten my act together!

Hey Trish and Jo,
We may be the only ones here, but hopefully not for long. :D
I am in the same boat as you Trish, struggling to stay on program and trying so hard to get on the right track. Wow you are going on a cruise soon, how wonderful is that.
My gosh and you Jo are going to Hawaii soon, how wonderful is that? I just loved when we all went to Hawaii last September. Yes, Weight Watchers can get pretty expensive, I get the Monthly Pass and right now I feel like I am just losing my money, but we will hang in and all get it right and hopefully soon. :jig:
We are going to Illinois tomorrow to see daughter, Tracy startioned near St Louis. I am looking forward to the weekend. I can't wait to see little Tyler again, they were last weekend and we had so much fun and had a party so people could see them. I also watched my other Grandson, little Brandon earlier in the week and had so much fun with him. He spent the night and for some reason was up off and on lots of the night. I finally ended up putting him in the guestroom and after laying down with him and putting him back in the crib several times I gave up and just laid down with him in the guest bedroom bed. I was sooooo tired the next morning, but I recovered and caught up on my sleep now. I so loved having him overnite and still loving this Grandma thing. :cp:
Take care everyone, have to go, we are leaving for Illinois tomorrow for the weekend and better get to bed.

K, where is everbody? Hope I am not alone now and others come back and join our merry group!
Well guys, I actually did talk to CJ last week, got hold of her. She said I could post and let you know what is going on in her life. She is going through a big change right now, she is going to get a divorce, that is what she wants to do to move on with her life. She is doing good now though and says she will come back and post soon as she can and misses all of you very much. It was good hearing from her and she seems to be in great spirits. :D
As for me, just been busy with the family and Grandkids too. My husband and myself went to Illinois the weekend before last and spend a wonderful weekend with my air force daughter, Tracy and little Tyler. We had a great time, went to an apple orchard and picked a bunch of apples to make apple pies with. My Grandson had a ball, my husband carried him around on his shoulders so he could try to reach some of the apples. He is only 17 months, but he sure tried and than he walked around with them chomping into one with his 12 teeth and sure ate the heck out of it too. LOL But other than that, nothing more going on, just enjoying this cooler fall weather, I love fall the best, walking in the crisp fall air with the leaves crunching beneath your feet is the best in the world. :goodvibes
Well don't be a stranger anyone, I am here and am lonely. Hope we get some more back and some newbies even would be great. :^:
Love you guys, Sassy Sharon :carrot:

Hi Sharon! And sorry. :sorry: I keep meaning to get in here. But I have no excuse.
Thanks so much for getting in touch with CJ. If you talk to her again, let her know I'm thinking of her. I've been through what she's going through and I understand. Hope everything works out for her.
Meanwhile, I've been looking at my weight loss efforts. :book2: Unfortunately, just looking is all I've been doing. I just got a card in the mail about WW's new Fast Pass (well, it's new in MY area anyway). Says I can pay monthly and go to as many meetings as I want. I like that idea, I must say! :cp: Probably the kick in the pants I need. Still waiting for their website to catch up and give me the info I need.
There were other weight-loss groups and plans I was thinking about as well :chin: but I have to say that WW is the one I'm most comfortable with. Even if, sadly, it seems to be the most costly! :fr:
In other news, I turned 47 on September 19! :celebrate: My plan is to be skinny by the time I hit 50. 3 years should be plennnnnnty of time, right? You'd think.....
Gotta run. I'm supposed to be working right now. Just can't quite get myself motivated today. It's just too nice outside my window to be stuck here in the office. I know I've said it before, but I promise to check back in soon. :crossed:
Talk to you later!
09-28-2008, 04:41 PM
Don't worry I do the same thing as you lot of the time. I mean to come in and post, but sometimes get so busy that I say "Tomorrow I will post" LOL than that turns into a week or more even very often. Thanks for posting, we need to keep this group alive and well till the others rejoin our happy group. LOL
I know exactly how you feel about your weight loss effort and what you have done and want to do too. I am in the same boat, not doing very good lately bur not wanting to change how I do it as I too have been on Weight Watchers a very long time. :?: Because for me it is a great program with healthy eating :broc::chicken::cheese: and it is a safe program for me to be on. Plus when I am on the WW program I have the accountability I need as well. :sp: If I could just get with it though. I was starting to do so good when I was watching my Grandson and staying at my daughters house during the week and was down 10 lbs, but now it is back on and I go up and down once again. Boy Jo why does it have to be so hard to lose and so darn easy to gain????? It's just frustrating sometime isn't it? I mean why is pizza and cheesecake so darn fattening :hun: and lettuce and veggies not? It is just not fair at all is it! :tantrum: So we are sisters in spirit aren't we Jo. I think there are many other's out there like us, just can't seem to get it right. But that is why we need each other and everyone else on this site. So come on back guys and welcome to any newbies!
OK enough said I guess, hope we get some other peeps in here, either oldies or newbies too, everyone is welcome and post with us, we welcome all newbies and oldies as well. :grouphug:
Talk to you later, Sharon :cp:

Hi Ho Everyone!
How is everyone doing? I am doing ok. I had to find this thread, it was buried in the back somewhere. :?: So I thought I would pull it up so you can post!
This weekend my little Grandson, Brandon is celebrating his 1st birthday, so his party is Saturday and I can't wait. I can't believe he is almost a year old already. So we will have some out of town company, Air Force daughter and her hubby and our other little 18 month old Grandson are coming from Illinois for a week for a visit. We will have fun I am sure! :cp:
I hope everyone is doing great and I miss all of you and hope that we have another poster in her to join me cause I am getting soooooo lonely.
Love you, Sassy Sharon :carrot:
10-17-2008, 02:57 PM
Hi Sharon! Thanks for "finding" us! I keep wanting to post from home (my 'net connection here at work is soooooooo slow  ) but I never seemt to get to it. So here I am, hoping the boss doesn't come through for a few minutes. :sssh:
I finally bit the bullet after lots of hemming and hawing and soul-searching and excuse-making and went back to WW last week (10/7). When I weighed in on 10/14, I was down 4.6 lbs!! :goodscale Just wish I could do that every week! I'd be skinny in no time at all.
Not much else going on in my life. Rich has been working hours and hours of overtime so I told him I'm kidnapping him next weekend and I made reservations at a little Bed & Breakfast place in the mountains. I told him he needed to get away and do nothing for a little while.
OK, the truth is I told him that, if he couldn't go, I was going to go without him! :s: So that's next weekend. Hopefully, all will go smoothly.
But, like I said, not much else going on. Can't believe it's Autumn already and almost time to start thinking about Christmas shopping! :present: I guess that also means it's "food season". You know :witch: and :turkey: and then :santa: and :hat: . Yikes! Hope we can all do well this holiday season!
Gotta run. Hope to check in often with weigh-in updates! Be talkin' to ya!
10-22-2008, 12:37 PM
Just a quick check-in to say hello and brag. Went to weigh-in last night and was down another pound and a half. :cb: That makes a total of 6 lbs. in 2 weeks. :encore: Wish I could keep up this pace but I'll be happy with a pound a week or so. Especially over the holiday season. :xcheer:
Hope everyone's doing well. Be talkin' to ya! :comp:
P.S. I just love smilies. Have ya' noticed? :yay:
10-25-2008, 06:20 PM
Sorry I've been MIA for awhile. Just have a lot going on in my life, and haven't taken the time to worry about my weight.
I'm still unemployed, still looking for a job, still in school. Can't complain much about not working since I had the summer off with my daughter. That was great and something I probably will not get again anytime soon one I get back into the workforce (unless I win the lottery--which means I would have to play it first).
I will post again later when I have the chance to catch up and read everyone else's posts.
10-30-2008, 10:03 AM
Hi everyone! Don't faint - it's really me! Just jumping in here to say hello .. will write more when I have more time. I know Sharon told you that I am going thru a divorce at this time. I promise I will fill you in later but I'm doing really well and have never been happier!
Jello .. good to see you back posting with us .. and am very sorry to hear about your dad. Happy to hear of your engagement and hope you'll remain happy for the rest of your life! I've found the love of my life - a little late in my life but I'm still young enough to enjoy and believe me, I am enjoying!
Trish, wonderful to hear from you also .. hope you come back and post more. I should talk .. I've been MIA for a long long time.
Sharon .. thanks sweetie for keeping this thread going and not giving up. I promise I will post often now .. and thank you for your support and hope we can talk again soon. Love you girlfriend!
I promise I will be back and very soon.

OMG! Pass the smelling salts!! :faint: Hi CJ!!! So happy to see you here! Getting to be like old times. :grouphug:
I have nothing new to say but wanted to pop in to welcome CJ back. And Kim too! Very exciting. :woohoo:
Gotta run. Work to do. But I'll be back soon.
12-08-2008, 08:47 AM
I just want to check in real quick here. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and in case I don't make it back in here, I hope you all have a great and wonderful Christmas!!!
Things are going pretty ok for me .. still working on my divorce (nothing settled yet) so I can move on with my new life with John - which is going great! I've never been happier!
I promise I will start posting more once I am more settled - just so many things to do and now so many new people (and grandkids) in my life right now. But I think of you all a lot and my intentions are good so I WILL be back!
Thanks for the welcome back JO ... Hope to hear from ya all soon.

Boy nobody has posted on this site in a while. Guess we all all busy this holiday, I know I am. :hohoho: So I am bringing this thread up so more can post. Doesn't have to be much, just let us know you are OK, we know you all our busy, but just post a quick one and let us know how your holiday season is going so far. :xcheer:
CJ-Glad you posted again recently and let everyone know more about what is going on in your life. I was happy to talk to when we talked on the phone, and hear for myself that you are doing great and most of all happy happy happy at last. John sounds like a great guy and when we last talked you sounded like a woman in love. The bottom line is that you need to be happy and that is the important thing. I know you are busy and have so many changes in your life now, but post when you can and I know after the holidays things will slow down for many of us and hopefully we will all be posting more. :comp:
Jo-Glad you are posting too and you are doing good as well. Good for you joining Weight Watchers. Congrats on that 6 lb weight loss, that is a great loss in only 2 weeks. :bravo: I am still going to my WW meetings, but doing lousy and going up and down, depending what holiday function is going on. Man the holidays really kill me so much. I was doing great till Thanksgiving and than man I just don't know what happen. :ink: :ink:
Kim-Thanks as well for helping keep our home fires burning. :flame: That is great that you got to spend the summer with Hannah, that is one of the good things about not working. :dancer: That is good you are still in school too, that will pay off big time when you get done and graduate. :cheer3: I'll bet you are getting ready for your daughters Christmas, I bet she is really excited too. :present:
That is about all everyone, I am doing well too. We had our cute little Grandson, Tyler for almost 3 weeks, I was in heaven over having him at Grandma's. Daughter, Tracy in the Air Force is temporary stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, as she is training for a new job for 8 weeks. Son in law, Brett, still in Illinois had some crazy 12 hour shifts and no one to watch the little guy so we volunteered to do this. His parents in Springfield, Ohio took him almost 2 weeks than he came to our house. We had so much fun with him, watching him explore the world. We ate lots of Mc Donald's :cbg: and did other fun kid type things with the little guy. He went home when his dad came to get him last weekend and than this past weekend, Ken, myself and son, Dan traveled from Indiana to Biloxi to spend some time with Trace. We had a lot of fun, lots of casinos there, like 11 of them, between Biloxi and Gulfport too. Had some great buffets with lots of crab legs, hence the weight gain, :hun: but it sure was worth it I thought. Can't just go there and nibble on salads can I? We also got to see Ken's New Orleans long lost cousins once again. Just called cousin Vanda, Ken's like 2nd or 3rd cousin, her Dad is Ken's Dad's cousin and she arranged a party at her Mom and Dads and everyone was there. We just went for a reunion in June and met them for the 2nd time and this is the 3rd time we have seen them and they love us and visa versa. Ken's Dad's Dad, Ken's grandfather was the only one who left New Orleans and went to the Detroit area out of 7 siblings. His great grandfather came over from Croatia to New Orleans and settled there and when we come they all want to see the Scobel family that left New Orleans and went to Detroit. So we had a great time this past weekend, had lots of great food and got to see again some great warm and wonderful people. :grouphug:
Take care all, talk to you later. Sassy Sharon :rudolph:
12-22-2008, 01:42 PM
Hey all! Just popping in quick to say howdy. I'm officially down 10.6 lbs since I went back to WW. It seems so much harder to do this time around. But I'm going to keep with it. I just have to! :frypan:
So I thought I'd come in here and wish you all a very merry and a happy and prosperous and all those other good wishes. :xcheer: I'm at work now and my 'net connection is sooooooo sloooooooow but it's really quiet here so I'm taking my time posting. I have to work today, tomorrow and half a day on Christmas Eve. Yuck. But, hey, I'm getting paid to sit here and play solitaire. :sssh:
Going to visit the family over the weekend after Christmas. It'll be the first big family gathering since we lost my dad over the summer. Hopefully, it'll go OK. My mom's doing pretty well, all things considered. Rich's mom spent this past weekend with us, stopping her drive from North Carolina up to visit family in Massachusetts. She drives all over, all the time, just her and the dog, God Bless Her! :cp:
Anyway, I really do have a little bit of work to do here so I'd better get to it. BTW, I'd like to suggest we restart this thread in January as our New Year's Thin Wannabee's thread. What do you all say? :dunno: Just a suggestion.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season. I'll be talking to you again soon!
12-28-2008, 02:19 PM
Just popping my head in to say hi and I haven't forgotten about y'all.
With the new year coming up, I'm going to hopefully get back on program and work on my weight. I'm surprised I haven't gained a lot more than I have by being lazy and not working, but I haven't gained that much. Not sure how much, just going by my clothes being a little tighter than they used to be.
Anyway, just stopped in the say hi
01-03-2009, 02:44 PM
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Don't faint - it's just me .. CJ!
I took Jello's advice and started a new thread and called it Thin Wannabee's New Year 2009! So come one everyone let's do the POST!
