Default Can you suggest a good cardio machine??

I go to the gym and have always just done the treadmills. I did do one of the other machines (I think it was the Crosstrainer)... it was with your arms and legs swinging back and forth (sorry for the lame explanation). But that lasted all of 5 minutes. Wasn't sure of what or how or how long even to do it. So what would be a good starting point machine to try, other then the treadmill? Should I still do the treadmills AND another machine and how long for each? Your tips are mucho appreciated!!!

Hi, as far as my trainer told me, you begin to burn body fat after 40 mins of any cardio, does not matter, but the machines I love the most is the treadmill (with a high incline and going a fair speed) and the eliptical trainer and there are different types of cross trainers but those are good as well, I find bikes are no fun and they only burn half the calories compared to most other machines, and eventually I would through a stairmaster machine in once a week, and I only started out 3 mins on that, now I am up to 8 or 10. They are not easy and not fun, but its a nice challenge!! good luck, hope this helps!

Thanks JennyG... I like the treadmill at a high incline at a medium speed too, but wasn't sure if that was doing it ir not.

I think it is just the looking silly and not lasting long on the machines part that has me not eager to try others... but I think I need to just give in and go for it. I am going to try an ellipticle machine this week at the gym and aim for a short time, and if all goes well do it again and add a few more minutes. We'll see how it goes...

I really like ellipticals -- my knees can't always handle the treadmill at high speed/incline. But they ARE tough to get used to!! When I first tried the elliptical, I think I barely made it 2 minutes!!
