like a sideways butt??!!!... Like a top bump a crease and a pooch..

Seriously I ALWAYS have a muffin top.. even wearing jeans that are so loose I dont have to unbutton them to pull up and on (non stretch)... I only get rid of the lumps if I manage to find jeans that go up to my boobies! (not really but you know what I mean)

Anyway will this get better???Am I still gonna have a tummy butt when I reach my goal weight?? I Have already lost a bit.. and it IS getting smaller but looks the same..:?::o

I know EXACTLY what you mean -- some call it an upper and lower spare tire. I've never heard it called a "tummy butt." Very creative. :D Mine is still there, although the "tires" are mostly jiggly loose skin (the lower one is much worse and more defined as a "roll.") But they are still there. I'm sure surgery is the only way to get rid of them (I'm speaking of mine solely; a professional may be the only one to truly know). But a simple shaper smoothes them out for me. Everything looks fairly flat when I'm fully clothed. :)

I like to call this the double tummy. I think it probably varies from person to person, but I still have mine at my goal weight, although it doesn't qualify as a "muffin top" and is very small (only noticeable when naked or in something really tight.)

That being said, my goal weight is higher then a lot of women my height. I'm happy on the higher end of healthy. So, yours may go away. No way to know really until the weight is gone.

You're doing great btw! Congrats on the 58 lb loss!

Thanks! I plan to have the rest gone by the time my hubby gets home.. he just left *sigh*

Anyway I completely forgot to write that I had a c section.. I wonder if it was because of that??

I think it's pretty common to get an upper ab roll if you gain weight in your middle. I never had a C-section, but I developed an upper ab roll at my HW (and a smaller roll forming above *that* -- I think folks call that one a "bra roll"). Anyway, my upper abs aren't completely flat yet but it's no longer a roll. My lower ab roll is still there but much smaller now.

Good luck!

Yikes. Yes, unfortunately. Mine has been getting smaller...I hope I can lose the majority of it with exercise and diet...because I don't have any desire to go the route of plastic surgery.

I have had 5 c-sections and developed the "tummy butt" after the vey first one. It got worse with each one, to where my lower abdomen now literaly hangs. As I have lost weight, my tummy is overall smaller, but unfortunately still looks the same. I asked my doc last week about it and he told me surgery is the only answer for that. I will just deal with it for now. On the plus side... I have gone from a size 16 to a size 6 and my tummy is not noticable at all under my clothes. You will feel great after your weight loss, and the imperfections can be hidden nicely!

Actually, I just told my hubby that I have a butt on my tummy yesterday! I got on all fours (in my underwarey) and showed him how my tumm hangs down like a butt. I'm still more than 20 lbs. away from goal, but this is something that reall bugs me! I guess once I lose all the weight, I'll be able to hide it under clothes and maybe then it won't bother me so much. I've had 2 kids and my second was a 9 pounder! Could that be the reason? Either way, I think it might be here to stay....only it'll be a smaller version of itself. Too bad big tummies aren't considered as hot as big booties. JLo...can you help us out here? ;)

Mine doesn't look like a sideways butt, it looks like a second butt. I guess it's because I have a hysterectomy scar that runs from my bellybotton all the way down so it kind of cuts my stomach in half, side-to-side. Oh well, my doc agrees with yours RNmomof5, he's told me plastic surgery is the only way.

Thanks for all the responses :) Anyone know of something I could wear under my clothes that will make it look less and actually be comfy. I have a couple of camis that really dont do the trick.. and then I have this "fat sock" just is just so uncomfortable I cant wear it long at all..It goes from the knees to the boobs..It was on tv and its horrendous..
I want something that just looks like an undershirt.. but slims the bump and doesn't sufficate me.

Try Spanx underclothes. Provided you measure yourself and order the correct size, they are comfortable, well made, and hide the unsightly bulges.

Lying down, no big deal. Standing up, minor sagging. Bending forward- kangaroo pouch. Really-I feel like a stiff breeze could fill up my loose skin and carry me away. Exercise has helped a little, but I still feel that like I look like Jello on a stick sometimes. Well, I'll keep on hula hooping and buy me some Spanx!

I have the same thing! I hate it! ALWAYS a muffin top, but I am just hoping that I am young enough that the skin will start to spring back. I don't know, but heres hoping for all of us!:belly:

I second the suggestion for Spanx. Oprah talked about them on her show, said she wears them every day. They are wonderful for smoothing everything out. You can get the high waist or just the panty. and, unlike the simular products, they don't leave a "bulge" on your leg when they end. They are pretty pricey, the panty is around 30 dollars the high top is a bit more. I put off buying them for awhile but they are SO worth it.

This is another option, if you can get access to it.

Ultrashape (http://www.ultrashape.com/)

I never considered surgery but this...well let me just say I'm leaving my options open.

I got a wonderful shaper from QVC. It's like a tank top. It fits like a shirt from the shoulders to under the 'girls', then it gets tight around the midsection. It's long -- hip-length. I love it under fitted shirts. Warning: Don't wear it with nylon panties. It will roll up and make bad, low muffin top. Would that be muffin bottom? :)

Yeah...it's not just you. Every since putting on weight, i've had a "side-ways" butt. I never thought of it that way...but yeah...i thought it was just me. I figured it was from all the years of wearing my jeans too tight at the waist, that i had made a permenant indention there. lol.

I just try to buy shirts that don't really cling to me..but if they do cling, then i try to make sure to pair them with a pair of pants that aren't tight around the waist. That's about the best i've come up with for dealing with this problem so far to date. I hope that it will in time not be so noticable. In the meantime, i just keep excersizing (well...i started back excersizing) and keep trying to drop a few more pounds to see how the ol belly comes off.

Luckymomma...you made me laugh. I could never get down on all fours and show my bf how my belly hangs down (like a little butt) but i do notice it sometimes when we're doing ....things....(tmi??) and i am praying he doesn't notice it!!! lol. Hoping once hitting goal and with a little time, most of my belly will shrink and maybe tighten up some.

I don't have the "tummy butt" ...but I definitely have a little pouch there. It's gross. I have a feeling it's going to be the last thing to go though...

Well, I have a REAL "butt in the front" from a classical C-section done ages ago.

But good news! 6 years ago I went from 237 to 147 (lost 50 # right away and the rest over a year) and the "butt" went away! After 2 years everything tightened right up, and I was 40 years old. Now I'm 46 and having to lose again, and I'm hoping and praying that it does the same.

So all you young chicka have nothing to worry about. Please pray for us old chicks.

I have a "tummy butt" too. Actually the top part looks like a barrel and the bottom looks like a kangaroo pouch. Since I've lost a few, it's gotten smaller, but it's still EXTREMELY noticeable.

I think it's the first place I put on weight and the last place I lose it. :(

Those pants make you look flatter but for me they just seem pointless because I know as soon as I get home & take them off everything will sag back into place. I'd rather people see direct results. Plus those pants are hard to breathe in..

I call it "front butt". And I'm lucky enough to have it.
See what happens when I hit goal, but I've no desire to have surgery.

I have no idea if it will go away for you, but it does go away for most people. I have a friend who is anorexic and that is her number one complaint about her body. What it really is is that you have a horizontal bellybutton, most likely.

But the other thing is that a LOT of thin people have this, and a lot of thin people do crunches and get rid of it. I have the opposite -- I have the barrel stomach that leaves that crease line at the bottom.

But for me, my problem area goes away when I'm at a normal weight. It just flattens out on its own.

Think about it this way: There are a lot of people out there with horizontal bellybuttons who are thin, and you rarely see them with the sideways tummy crease.

It should go down. The people who still have it when they're thin are the skinny/fat girls. Just work on toning it.

I've got the dunlop...my belly dun lop over my belt. Ok, not really...it is lower than that. I'm a bit of a weird shape and always have been but all my belly weight came on as a barrel...but then the barrel started to sag. :( I have always...even when I was anorexic and got bruises when I leaned up against things because my hip bones stuck out too far...had a bit of a gut. I don't have much hope of it ever going away, but I'm sure as heck going to try.

get yourself some spanx and stop worrying about it....it should get smaller after you reach your goal weight and do some toning. Realize though that sometimes pregnancy can cause a separation in your abdomen muscles and will always have a loose outward appearance (reason a why I plan to have a tummy tuck when I'm done with babies).

I have the front butt and muffin top. After having 3 kids, my skin is shot. I think a tummy tuck is the only way I will be able to fix this. Mine is like an apron of skin. I hate it. The more weight I lose, the saggier my skin gets.

At my highest weight I had very pronounced upper and lower rolls. Has my weight loss has progressed they have shrunk considerably. I am still not quite at my goal weight but the spanx underwear or other brands have worked wonders on ironing out those lumps. For me they make my clothes fit a whole lot better and so I feel lots more confident as a result.

I know exactly how you feel. I've been going to the gym religiously (spelling?) for the past 3 weeks which is huge for me because usually I only go like one day a week and then have no motivation to go so I'm really proud of me going this long. I have not lost ANYTHING. The only place I really wanna lose weight is my tummy and my face. Everywhere else I could care less if I lose that in a million years. It seems that I'm working on this so badly and nothing is happening. Its kind of discouraging if you think about it :(
