Default Scales

I need to buy a weighing scales (have been judging my progress by how my clothes fit but i need something a little more accurate now), but im not sure what kind to buy. Im a student and pretty broke so i dont want to spend more than about 30 quid - no fancy body fat analysers for me i'm afraid.

Even on the cheaper side however, i'm completely lost! Should i go for electronic or mechanical? The electronic ones are more exact i suppose but there would be batteries and things to replace and i would worry that it had gone wonky and not giving the correct weight. My brother has an electronic one and it always needs 3 or 4 goes before itll tell you anything. Mechanical ones are less exact and its quite hard to see whether the needle has moved in some of them, but would there would be less chance of it weighing wrong?

I really need your advice on this! What kind of scale do you have and what are its good and bad points?

I love my digital scale. It does require a battery, but it zeros itself out when you first turn it on (you do so by tapping the corner with your toe). Once it reads zero, you step on it and your weight displays. It's incredibly consistent - I've tried the getting off and getting back on and it's rarely off by more than .1 of a pound. Then it shuts itself off after you get off of it.

I think I paid $25 USD for it. I'm sure you could find something similar where you are in about the same price range?

i think i'll go for the digital, some of the cheaper ones have memory functions which would be handy, not that im likely to forget my weight lol
