Short and simple question. When will my shedding slow down? I have always gotten all my protein in each day and have not been good about watching the amount of fat I get each day. Thank God I have very thick hair! But the shedding is driving me crazy and will it slow down and stop soon? I am at 4 months out? What do you all think?

there are special vitamins you can take, that are specifically for hair. i use nioxin intensive therapy...maybe you should try that. then again, some things can not be helped...my guess is that the shedding will slow when the weight loss slows.

My hair loss slowed to a stop around 6 mos out. Then it slowly started filling back in...which was worse than the loss itself because I had little spikey hairs growing all over my head. I eventually got a short haircut to mask these stupid things. However now that I have started tyring to grow back to a shoulder length style I can see that I now have thinner hair it is just not as noticeable to others as it is to myself.

Mine didn't even start until 6 months out and is still going strong. I hope it ends soon too! I've been taking biotin but it doesn't seem to help. If you find a solution LMK!

My started about 3 or 4 months and stopped at six months. I don't see that I'm growing any new hairs, but I have had it cut shorter and shorter a couple of times. Now they call me Uncle Dwight!!!! I started the bioxin last June, had the surgery in October and my hair was growing like gang-busters, then had the surgery and my hair stopped growing, nails are soft. This really is an internal problem and will level out, I promise. Some people say that their hair grew back fuller and some say that theirs didn't. I'm crossing my fingers for you because your hair is really pretty. And there simply can not be three Uncle Dwights in the family!!LOL!!!! I think I remember Jiffy saying her's came back pretty thickly.

Yes it will slow down and eventually start to grow back. Mine came out in fistfulls, it was awful. I thought I was going to go bald. My doc said there is nothing on the market that can help so save your money....when your body starts to level off with your WL, your hair will start to grow back.

My hair started thinning out noticeably about 3 months out and has already at 5 months out started to slow down and grow back in places. I cut my hair too to match the spiky hair but I have plans for the 'thicker and curlier" hair Jiffy talked about...Long and luscious! Hehe

whitelion - it'll stop falling out in a couple of months - honest! be sure to take your vitamins as well.
and ladies, i'm flattered that ya'll remember something that i said - and it's true that my hair came back thicker than before - BUT NOT CURLIER!!!!!!!
but the real kicker is that i keep my hair REAL SHORT!!!! so i have no real idea what it's really like [except that it's getting longer and starting to CURL around my ears - i hate that!!!!!]

curling around the ears...maybe my faulty memory is a prediction of how it would be if you grow your hair out! :D

My hair started coming out about 5 mos and started growing back at about 8 mos. I started on biotin October before my February 07 surgery. I really didn't lose much tho.
