Sugar Shakers - Sugar Busters and Shakers -- July 2008View Full Version : Sugar Busters and Shakers -- July 2008 meowee 07-01-2008, 10:39 AM Here we go again . . . it's a brand new month and a brand new start to our continuing journey to better health and fitness . . . :welcome: to our new chat thread gang . . . :grouphug: Solly 07-01-2008, 12:55 PM Good morning It is so cool here, 58 this morning when I walked. How nice. Rudy would not get out of bed so I walked by myself (Yeah me!). Got my whole walk in. May be able to get another one tonight. Nothing exciting going on with me. Just trying to get ahead in my work before I go on vacation. Tonight I plan on getting all my magazines and books together and maybe start packing some things I can. Better start making a list of things I don't want to forget. Meowee, thanks for starting the new board. I always like a fresh clean board and a new month. Everyone else  This is a new month, let's also make it a new "us". techwife 07-01-2008, 05:13 PM Copy/paste from last month's thread because I don't think anyone saw it before it was locked...I don't feel like typing in everything again ;) HOLY CRAP!! I have been so busy and have missed you guys! I've been poking around the General Chatter area for a while because I really have not been on any healthy eating plan in months. I'm hoping to start a healthy summer starting tomorrow. Well, in a nutshell, the shop has TAKEN OFF!! I kept wearing the same pants every day thinking they were my lucky pants as every day I wore them I was bringing in big bucks, but then realized its JUNE and the lovely snowbirds have come back needing haircuts!! Unfortunately, so has my allergy/sensitivity to ammonia and chemicals and my hands are a bleeding wreck. I haven't had this problem in over 15 years and I'm not all together sure what to do because I hate living with open sores on my hands. Derek has been working hard at his new job at Rite Aid....unfortunately, mostly out of town. Such as Michigan, Maine, Cleveland and points in between. But the overtime is getting backed up bills paid off, which is nice. Shelley is having a rough spring, suffering from anxiety attacks and migraines. She's having a CT scan on her head (how many times do moms of teenagers tell their kids they need their heads examined?) and is seeing a therapist. She hates school and wants to move away to a bigger, more populated school. She feels she doesn't fit in. I'm hoping the therapist can get to the bottom of it. Kyle is going to the County Fair in the County spelling bee! He won his classroom spelling bee, then the district-wide spelling bee and now he's off the the county fair! One of the judges told me that he's the first 1st grader she's seen from our district to go the fair! We're very proud. To keep the kids busy, they've started a lemonade/baked goods stand. Shelley does all the baking herself (she's making chocolate chip cookies as we speak!) and Kyle, well, we're lucky if we can get him to sit in his seat for more than five minutes. But they've made $39 in two days!! Shelley sells out of her goods. Friday she had molasses cookies and brownies made from scratch. She's a VERY good baker. On the diet side of things, I've been totally horrible, getting what I can when I can. But tomorrow, Shelley and I are trying again to get down to business. We both are going to try to loose 10 pounds. We got the WiiFit and love it, but it works best if you use it. Tomorrow, we're also going to start with a walk/run/jog after work. I hope it sticks and we can get back into a healthy lifestyle. Okay...just wanted to check in. Lots of new faces here! Nice to see the board moving!! I hope to come by more often and post my menu for the day...starting tomorrow. TTFN!! meowee 07-02-2008, 10:28 AM Good Morning . . . Hot and very humid day today -- but the sun is shining and that's a good thing. Wish I didn't have to venture out today since I felt like a limp puddle of perspiration at 8 am after just hauling the garbage to the road; but I really must get to the grocery store because I cannot tolerate another day without a "big" salad. Hope the day is good to all of the rest of you . . . :grouphug: GymRatandStillFat 07-02-2008, 12:19 PM Hey everyone..So I so far have kept my promise to myself and have been 100% sugar free. Although I can't go to the gym classses like I was use to..I am taking advantige of 20 min here and there to use the treadmill and eliptical that the people I nanny for own. And of course taking the kids out on bikes or just walking. Im hoping to make it through the summer with a small loss or at the very least able to not gain. I move out in 2 weeks from Sat and i am excited. that alone will make things easier with weak food moments. Tech glad to hear things have picked up--good for you. Sorry your husband has to travel. The baking idea sounds awesome!! good fro her. Meowee-have an awesome day just try not to get too overheated Solly-Nice job walking alone. Thats not always fun. I had one of th emunchkins chatting with me while I walked on the treadmill made the time go by fast. Ok kids--have an awesome start to JULY..i'll check back later!!! PeggyJ 07-02-2008, 04:12 PM Hello everyone, A new board is nice Solly! We have much to be thankful for in our Meowee. I wish I could send her a cool breeze for a few days. Gym! Your move is just around the corner! I hope all goes well. TechWife~~ So good to see a post from you! I hope your hands heal soon. I have been so busy, I have Emily a lot now that her mother has once again walked off from the responsibilites of raising a child, and all that goes with a house, etc. Emily is doing ok but as any (almost) 4 yr will, she misses her momma. I hate her mother left but I hope she does not come back...5 yrs of all this drama from her is bone tiring! I think this is the 6th time she has left and a child needs a momma who will do what needs to be done. I guess you can tell I am just done! BS was high this morning and it has been so good! I am sure from the stress more than anything! Hope your all having a good Wednesday! chris313 07-03-2008, 07:32 AM Happy Thursday everyone! I can't believe the 4th is almost here already. I have to "get cookin'" to help my sister with a big family BBQ she's having at her house. Believe it or not, I stepped on the scale this morning and to my complete surprise I was 155 on the nose. I can't believe that 7 months ago I started this journey praying and hoping it would work this time, and here I am looking at 155 on the scale!! Like I said before, I now want to set a second goal of reaching 145 because I want to have a 5 pound cushion for maintaining. I'm hoping with the help of my daughter, I'll be able to post a before and after photo for you wonderful ladies who have inspired me so much. I really don't think I would have made it without the unending support you have given me. Thank you so much!! Peggy-That is a very tough situation you've been put in. Is it your daughter, or daughter in law? I feel terrible for both you and Emily. Being a mom, I couldn't even imagine leaving my child because of the responsibilities that come with motherhood. You're a wonderful Grandma to think of Emily first. Gym-WTG with no sugar!! I wish you lots of luck with the move. This must be a very exciting time in your life. Enjoy every minute of it. Meowee-Hope today isn't as humid as yesterday. The humidity just zaps the will right out of you, doesn't it? I too am low on salad and fruit. I will be getting my butt to the grocery store today. Solly-Have a wonderful vacation. I hope you come back refreshed, and feeling wonderful. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!! meowee 07-03-2008, 08:21 AM Good Morning, Sugar-Babes . . . :grouphug: Boy . . . I could really use some of your cool breeze, PEGGY . . . . . . It certainly is great that you are there for Emily at times like this, poor baby. for both of you. Way to go CHRIS :high: . . . and I think your idea about giving yourself a little extra cushion is a great one. I'm trying to get up the courage to go out on the normal mall-crawl later on today. I hate to wear my sunglasses indoors but seems I will be scaring small children (and maybe large adults, too) if I don't. I had a major hemorrhage in my left eye early last evening. Now, I am prone to these, but usually they are just a little red area and go away in a few days. This one is covering the entire white of the eye, which currently looks almost black, and it is actually a bit sore (because the eye feels too big for the socket since it is engorged with so much blood). I look like something from one of those movies entitled "it came from outer space'. Yes, before you say it . . . I did go and spend most of the evening in Emergency just so I could be assured that it was just a more dramatic version of the regular problem and the eye was not about to shoot out across the room. The emerg doctor did say that this one, because it is so bad, could take a couple of weeks to totally drain; but other than that nothing to worry about. Funny timing -- I have to go an pick up my newly fixed glasses at the optician today -- imagine this will be a little distracting for them as they do the final fitting stuff. Other than that . . . another hot and sticky one with the humidex heading for high 30's/low 40's again (around the 100 F mark). I'll just keep trying to remind myself that it won't be long before I'm complaining about the snow again. :dizzy: So it will be a mostly indoor mall-crawl today. With or without the sunglasses. Hope everybody else has great things on the go . . . :carrot: techwife 07-03-2008, 08:48 AM Well, yesterday was a disaster, food wise. DH made molasses cookies to sell at her lemonade stand and they didn't come out right (I think she forgot the egg - they were flat and chewy) so we ended up eating half of them ourselves because she was embarrassed to sell them. Back to the block today. I'm off to make scrambled eggs and strawberries for breakfast. Solly 07-03-2008, 09:54 AM Good morning ladies. Glad to see the board picking up. I didn't walk this morning as I was up at 3 am with my hip killing me. I tried walking around the house in the dark, but how far can that take you? At 4:30 I finally thought of trying the heating pad and that helped. So at 5:30 I didn't feel like getting up. Nor did Rudy. We are suppoed to go to a friend's pool tomorrow for a cookout and then to the lake on Saturday coming back Sunday. Sounds like fun, but they are calling for rain for the next 5 days pretty steady. Tech, I am so glad to see your post. Great that the shop has done so well. Hopefully you can wear gloves when you do hair and your hands will heal up. Sounds like Shelly is turning into a little Paul Dean. I am sure your walks/runs after work will also help her alot to. I hope the therapist can figure it all out. You must be so proud of Kyle. Just how does one prepare for something like that? Study the dictionary? I hope he does well. Gym, Guess you are starting to pack. I knowyou will love your new place. Congrats on making the whole week SF. I knew you could do it. Chris, :cheer: WTG on meeting your goal. I was at 155 once, then cancer stepped in and it went right back up. You have come a long way and you should be so proud of yourself. I bet you look like a new person. Meowee, Ouch your eye sounds painful. I hope it clears up soon. I had to laugh about going to the optomitrist today. I would love to see that. Peggy, you are a special person. I know you are a positive influence in Emily's life and she will be a better person b/c of you. What a shame a child has to experience something like that. It is quiet here today, lots of people off. So I better take advantage and get some things done. Have a great long weekend. See you Monday. meowee 07-03-2008, 10:10 AM  . . . Actually called the optometrist and made an appointment to see him at the same time as I pick up the glasses from the optician . . . the undereye area is also looking bruised today as well so figured another opinion wouldn't hurt. Here are a couple of shots of my early halloween costume . . . hope you are not too easily grossed out by stuff like this . . . techwife 07-03-2008, 10:11 AM Solly: So sorry to hear your hip is acting up. Could it be the low pressure with the rainy weather making things worse? I've printed out some second grade spelling bee words off the internet and we practice with those. He's rather unreceptive to it, though. I think it makes him nervous. I'm hoping Shelley's therapy will help. She doesn't want to go to school this fall at ALL. She's starting high school, but it's all in the same building, just around the corner and down a different hallway, but same band room, nurse, auditorium, etc. She says she's bored and wants to go to a larger school. I can't say as I blame her...the high school section of the school really is dark and depressing looking. But we don't exactly have other options, either. Meowee: OUCH! My eyes hurt just reading your post!! I blew out some blood vessels in my eye giving birth to my daughter, but it was nothing like what you're going through. NS is on the east coast of Canada, right? Well, you should be getting the weather I'm having right now very soon (I live in Northern NY along the St. Lawrence) and it's down right chilly and windy today with intermittent showers. Relief is on the way!! Chris: Those on-scale victories are so great when they are unexpected!! WTG!! Peggy: Okay, update me...Who is Emily and who is her mother. Sorry you have to deal with that type of drama. Gymrat: Good luck with the move. I hate moving. Okay...gotta go get ready. TTFN!! PeggyJ 07-03-2008, 02:47 PM Good (late) Morning! I came on early, wrote a looooong post and then...blink and it was gone!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrr! So here I go again! (I will copy as I go this time!) CHRIS~~~:bravo: on reaching your first Goal! I don't think you will have any problem with reaching the second goal either! I want your :dust: Aren't you proud of yourself!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for inspiring us old slowpokes! and :congrat: to you! Amber (Emily's mother) was Jack's GF. They have lived together for over 5 yrs, with the exception being the 5-6 times she has left him and Emily. (Emily is almost 4). First time she left for 10 days to go back to an old BF she was "still in love with". I think she had been with Jack about a month then. Within 2 weeks of coming back she had a positive Pregnancy test and we had the great "joy" of going through 9 months of "it might be Jack's or it might not be". When Jack told me no matter what the bio thing was he raising this baby as his own, I considered myself a grandma! Amber could not leave well enough alone (and just count her blessings) and every few days she would throw it in Jack's face Emily was not his. I did not know this until Emily was 2 months old and went to their house after getting a panic call from Jack to "come quick there is an emergency". Amber was in full fit mode, had Emily under her arm like a football and was hanking things out of the closet as she screamed at Jack "she is not "F" yours and if I want to walk in front of a Mack truck with her it is none of your business!" Jack had already called 911 so With her in this rage all we could do was walk on either side of her as she stomped barefooted and in a t-shirt and sweats, up the road, baby still under her arm, and try and talk sense to her. Finally the police came and they made her give the baby to Jack. He took her home to some heat b/c it was only 40 degrees out and Amber only had her in a light sleeper. When she got calmed down the police took her home to Jack and she stayed. (That was when I had DNA done on Jack and Emily) and she was his bio child. So as you can see this 5 yr struggle has been nothing but a heart rendering one. I thought of Amber as my daughter in law until she left when Emily was 15 months old...just walked out and told Jack "you can have her". But Amber came back 4 months later, pregnant with a 17 yr old BF's babies (she later had twin boys) and no where to go! Jack is a better man than I would have been, he took her back! When she said I could not see Emily anymore b/c it was too upsetting for her (Amber) to handle, ( I had told her the house was fiflty and unsafe for a toddling baby and it was the truth). We had already made one ER trip because the baby had plastic from a CD cover lodged in her throat she had picked up off the floor). They were still in Court over Emily, even though they were back together (you know how Court is dragged out) so I intervened and asked for visitation. I got very libral visitation and it was made part of the Court Order. It was also part of the Order that if Amber was not residing in the home with the child she got supervised visits only. Jack got full custody of Emily. So that is what has kept Emily with us. Amber had healthy twin boys and placed them for adoption with a wonderful family. Thank God for that happening for those precious babies. They will be 2 in Sept. So we have all tried for many years and nothing has improved with Amber (Drs. meds. therapy, etc.). I hate this for her b/c she is really out there alone in the world and she is not capable of living on her own. Just please say a prayer for her! Meowee~~Boy you were not kidding when you said that eye looked bad! :fr: I hope it clears up for you soon and never happens again! I am relieved to hear your doing all the right things where your eyes are concerned. TechWife~~~"Tomorrow is another day" Scarlett O'Hara It will get better! Solly~~~Thanks for the encouragement over the situation with Emily. I am a tough old bird and I can handle whatever is dished out ( and shovel it back tenfold) but this baby can't. I am 53 so there is a good chance I will be here until she is grown and on her on two feet and that is what I pray for! Just say a prayer this had not dome emotional damage beyound repair for Emily. She deserves so much better! I have to get going here! Where does the time go? techwife 07-03-2008, 08:13 PM Meowee: You should change your name to OUCHEE!! :fr: Wow...that is really frightening!! meowee 07-04-2008, 08:41 AM  Maybe I can just drop the "me" and be "OWEE" for a while . . . and, building on that segue, the eye did NOT miraculously clear up overnight. However, my starch and salt excesses of yesterday didn't result in the usual puffy ankles and weight gain either -- at least not yet. :p Anyway . . . it is the start of our annual Lobster Carnival weekend and we do have a lot of 'Yanks' in town because of your long weekend and thankfully the weather is supposed to be hot and sunny but with lower humidity levels; so hopefully a great time will be had by all. So . . . for all my US buddies . . . hope you have a really great FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND . . . regardless of which side of our "longest unguarded border in the world" you are spending it on. :woo: See you all later . . . :grouphug: RiceKrispiTreat 07-04-2008, 09:28 AM Just wanted to hop on real quick and wish everyone a very Happy 4th of July! I got my bandages off this past Tues.yay! and am slowly getting back to being more active...I went for some walks and have been trying to eat more frequently during the day ,as well as drink more water......(my appetite decreased greatly since surgery). I hope you all are doing well....Have a happy and safe 4th of July! PeggyJ 07-04-2008, 10:52 PM Our Board be slim pickin's today! LOL Hello Meowee and Rice! It is nice seeing the two of you have posted, makes me not feel so alone. I know everyone (in the US) is most likely celebrating with family and fireworks! I cheated this year, I bought two smoked butts from the fire dept. This is how the money is raised for needy families at Thanksgiving and Christmas. And as always those guys did a bang up job! It has been a laid back day for us, something we rarely have and yet I am really tired! Meowee~~~~Hope that eye is improving every day! Did the doc say what caused it to be so bad this time? Ashley~~So good to see you are on the mend. You really had a rough go of it You have surely been missed on here! I have got to get serious on the Sugar Buster thing...I keep slcking off and the weigh tis NOT budging and I have no one to blame but me! Hope the rest of the weekend is nice for all of us! meowee 07-05-2008, 10:09 AM Good Morning . . . Strange as this sounds, I had a very enjoyable 4th of July watching the exciting display of lights in the sky and managed not to go off track in the eating department either. I live in a tourist town and this is our annual Lobster Carnival and since we have so many America visitors around this weekend, we decided to give a great display of fire in the sky over the water and, to the best of my knowledge anyway, nobody fell into the harbour. :s: Peggy . . . the emergency room doctor made one comment that got me thinking -- "looks like your daily aspirin regimen may be working a bit too well". So, I skipped my normal ASA again this morning. I've been taking a regular 325 grn tablet every morning for years for it's blood thinning benefits, but think I'll mention it to my doctor when I see him. Maybe the 81grn dose would be enough. In the meantime, guess I'll try cutting the regulars in half at least. Ashley . . . glad you are on the mend. See you later, Chickies . . . have a great day. :carrot: Toni48 07-05-2008, 03:50 PM Hello everyone. I've had a week of surprises. My children and one of my grandkids surprised me for an early birthday present. And they stayed all week and left for Texas this morning. It was my son that's in the Army and was away last year in Iraq. He'll have to go back this January to that hell hole. So to see him is precious. We had a wonderful week and I so enjoyed him and my sweet little daughter in law who's more like my daughter. My grandson Drake brought his guitar and played music. My other grandson had to stay home cause he has a job. He's 16 and I would have loved to see him. Anyway my eating wasn't good. But we did grill allot and I didn't do to bad. Today is rest day for sure and of course I'm sad cause they're all gone. My prayers for you that need them. And its good to be back. techwife 07-05-2008, 06:10 PM Eating has been horrible. This lemonade stand is a terrible temptation. My daughter's a great little baker and we are tending to eat the extras. Back to the family... PeggyJ 07-05-2008, 09:09 PM TONI~~~~How wonderful was that????? You have to be the happiest woman on the planet, I think I can see that ear to ear grin :D all the way here in Alabama! Now this is the son that could only come for overnight right? Did they get you or WHAT! ;) I am sure you will never forget this Birthday! And let me tell you, I appreciate your son being a member of the Armed Forces. I had a friend (Not a close one, in fact I have never met him or his family) over there that is a Marine for 8 months, and I can remember sending baby wipes for them to have to BATHE with... and TOILET PAPER...I could go on and on. I am against any war/"conflict" (THAT word always pisses me off!) but I appreciate and man or woman who serves time for the freedoms we have in this country. I have never had a child/nephew/niece in service but I did grown up with 3 uncles who served, 2 in the Navy and one in the Army and I remember those precious times they were HOME! LOL, and personally ... What are a few pounds gained? They can always come off later! My Lord! I can gain that much overNIGHT! I am just glad your heart is so full! :val1: I had an enjoyable day with my son and GD today, and having a day with my son that I can call enjoyable is rare, so we are both Ladies with a full heart! Nothing better than peace and contentment! Whenever your B'day is.....:bday2you::celebrate::balloons: Meowee~~~I think you are one smart thinking woman on the ASA therapy! I have a new Dr wanting to put me on a cholesterol pill that I will be discussing in detail with on Tuesday. I have brought it down from 247 to 216 in 6 wks so he is just going to have to give me another 6 weeks or so and let me see it I can lower it more! Grrrrrr! He just gave me Mycardis HCT for high BP (and it has helped since he wants me at 155/75) but I am not taking another pill if I stand a CHANCE of lowering it on my own! I like that you "think outside the box" too! TechWife~~~Don't you love that daughter? What we "suffer" for our kids! Tell her to bake you some No-Sugar Low fat versions! Give her a hug for all her go-get-it attitude! meowee 07-06-2008, 09:49 AM Good Morning . . . :grouphug: Looks like another warm and sunny one for us -- but the humidity is definitely on the rise again -- oh well, can't have perfect all the time. Keep doing the good stuff just as much as you can, gang -- the rewards will definitely follow in due course. :carrot: Toni48 07-06-2008, 01:48 PM Hello all. Wow we're really getting the heat today. Its only 11:40 and its already 90 out and the temp. is climbing. So today is a good day to stay in and stay cool. The humidity is awful.... I didn't want to cook last night so Steve just made some frozen hot wings we had. Not the best but not the worst. I've got to think of something cool for dinner. I wonder if I've got the stuff for a chef's salad. Will have to check that. Peggy- You're a sweetheart. Thanks for the good words about my son. Yes they really got me. What a total surprise. I loved every minute of there being here. My son gave me a beautiful watch he'd bought in Iraq. Its such a treasure. Every minute with him is so precious. I can't believe he'll have to go again to that horrible place. I just don't think we have any business over there. I hate it. Well my birthday is the 10th of July and I'll be the big 60. Tech- Homemade goodies would kill me. There's nothing I love better than a good cookie. Stay strong. And I know you can be. Just take a day at a time. Meowee- Hope you stay cool today. Oh my gosh a Lobster festival. I want to come. Hope everyone has a happy Sunday. Monday will be time to get back on the treadmill for me since I only walked one day last week. Toni48 07-07-2008, 01:25 PM Good morning. Glad its Monday and life can get back to normal at my house. Hope everyone has a good week. PeggyJ 07-07-2008, 01:56 PM  Morning! I am glad too see Monday be here too! Weekend had one whole day lost, long story made short, I did too much yardwork and I paid for it that night...started treating it aggressively and ended up sleeping all the day light hours of Sunday away! Oh well, I did something right, today other than some sore muscles I feel good! :) I am headed to Emily's to gather up some cloths for our trip to TN on Wed. Got to get the cabin ready for the honeymooners! She will love this! It is just a short trip we will be back Friday. I'll have my laptop so hope to post from there! Have a great week! meowee 07-07-2008, 06:47 PM Hi there . . . :grouphug: . . . somehow today just got away from me and here it is almost 7 pm and I'm just now getting some on-line time. I usually start the day around 3FC, but diecided to get out and about early to try to beat the heat and that little difference seems to have thrown my whole pattern off. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. See you then. RiceKrispiTreat 07-08-2008, 01:07 AM hi there everyone! it's been so hot here! I have been drinking a ton of water lately! But, have not been very hungry. I have found that I need to eat often (healthy stuff) ,in order to keep my metabolism up...if not...i find that my body tends to get sluggish and hold onto water which=weight gain! uggh! Is anyone else like this too? Toni48 07-08-2008, 12:56 PM Good morning. Where is everyone. I guess most of the gals are busy with summer stuff. Its good and hot here. I'm still resting up from my company. Didn't walk on the treadmill yesterday, I just felt to drained. Maybe today. Ann72 07-08-2008, 01:45 PM Hi there! Can I join you?? Meowee was kind enough to send me your way. I assumed that this was a support thread open only to people doing the Sugar Busters program. I'm not following a specific plan, but I have been trying to make some small changes to modify my diet from one with a lot of high GI foods to one that is low GI. So far, it's going well. I'm not 100% on track, but I'm getting there. I'm also trying to get my butt moving too. I've been way too lazy for too long. I'm really out of shape. My doctor recently started me on Metformin for Insulin Resistance. I'm hoping that the combination of a low GI diet and the Metformin will help with weight loss and overall health. Regards, -Ann THE BIG ORANGE BABE 07-08-2008, 01:58 PM http://bestsmileys.com/hello/5.gif Don't faint....it's time I got my crap together and got back here on a regular basis. Both Jackie and Toni are on my behind and I sure don't want them swinging bats at me! I have let myself go, and I really mean let myself go!! I'm back on plan eating grilled chicken and fish, fresh veggies etc. Too hot to walk outside, but all I need to do is clean off my treadmill and get going! All I can do is try, and with all of y'all, it will help me do it! Oh BOB . . . so glad to hear you are back on track, girl and so happy to see all your great smilies too. Well, I'm running late to the party again . . . got up way too early and started cleaning closets. I really have to be in the right mood for stuff like that. I was totally ruthless and filled 8 large garbage bags for trash dayand another 3 with stuff to take to the SallyAnne. I am proud of myself. I'm also hot and sweaty and totally exhausted even with the A/C running full blast. Wow, Summer is here with a vengeance. Have a great moving and shaking kind of day, everybody . . . Toni48 07-08-2008, 02:23 PM Woopie I love when Bob is here. You just lighten up the board. And I'm always ready for one of your good recipes. I'm with you lets get back on the treadmill cause we're sure not walking outside. Ann-:welcome: Its so good you're joining us. The board is a little slow right now. Guess people are doing summer stuff. This is a really good place to be. I'm wanting to make a pasta salad with whole wheat pasta and some Italian dressing. Shrimp, onions, olives, cheese and what ever else I can find. Oh maybe some broccoli. PeggyJ 07-08-2008, 09:05 PM  Hey ladies, Just a short post, short for two reasons, I am getting myself and Emmy packed for our trip to TN. My son Jack is going with us and DH is staying home b/c he has to go into the office on Friday. I need Jack's advice about enlarging/strengthening the drive so we can park the RV there at some point. Besides all 3 of us could use some time from here before he gets back to the work day grind. I think Hubby will like the peace and quiet for a few days too, just him and the pets! I am a bit down in the dumps b/c I was started on two more meds today in addition to Micardis 2 weeks ago. I think at almost 54 things are not looking too good for me! Sheeesh! My plans are to take a few days to get myself together...that will probably last until Thursday when I can't stay away anymore! LOL lucky for you guys huh? Hope you all have a good few days at any rate! meowee 07-09-2008, 09:29 AM Good Morning . . . :grouphug: Don't actually think it is a very good morning since it is so hot and sticky already that I feel totally enervated. Woke up with the intention of continuing my ruthless throwing out routines by moving onto the cluttered nooks and crannies of the kitchen -- but so far all I've managed is :coffee2:. Think I'll go and do a post in the main forum about the various things that impact the GI/GL of a food -- let's me stay sitting down for a little longer. Here's a link . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2261868#post2261868 Also want to take a look at the FAQ sub-forum. I would have though that the items TONI posted yesterday would have already been covered up there? Shall find out, obviously. This is good information and so (if not already there) I'll move your two posts into a thread of their own in the FAQ section. so they never go missing. See you later, gang . . . hope you all have a great moving and shaking day on the go . . . :carrot: Solly 07-09-2008, 09:47 AM Good morning ladies Sorry I have been missing all week. I am trying tog et lots of things done before vacation. Eating is so-so. And I am sure it will not be great in Florida eventhough I love baked fish. It should be really good donw there. I am getting excited about the trip. I just love having my girls with me. The friend of my youngest DD is going and she is such a hoot. She will be entertaining in the car. Toni I am so happy that your family surprised you. I always think about you and your DS. He is a wonderful person for serving our counry. We thank him. In case I don't make it on here tomorrow, Have a Happy Birthday! :cake: :hat: :balloons: Any plans? Bob, I am happy to hear you are walking on the :tread: Keep up the good work. I heard from Missy and she is doing WW and busy with the kiddies. I got the biggest laugh out of your avatar. I think about you everytime I go to Kroger. Ann, :welcome: Of course you can join us. This is a great group. Ask away and someone will have an answer, Tech, stay out of the cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Meowee, Wow I am impressed about your closet cleaning. Can you come do mine? Ashley, I hold water terribly. I take 3 diuretics a day and if I don't take all 3, I will gain 3-4 lbs in a day. It is not unsual for me to gain 10 lbs over the weekend when I can't take them for some reason. I think it is my meds causing it. Peggy, Enjoy your trip. I love TN. Got to run and get started here. to anyone I missed  Toni48 07-09-2008, 12:35 PM Good morning all you buster buddies. It rained last night so this morning is a little cooler. Make make the humidity worse when the sun comes out. Well I'm still resting up from last week. It takes me a while to get over company. Hopefully today I'll be perky. LOL.. Solly- How fun going to Florida. I hope you have a great time. I'm having lunch tomorrow with a friend. And don't know what Steve has planned for me for the evening. But Sat. we are going up to the vineyards in St. James MO. I love looking around there and sampling the wine. You're so sweet about my son. I'm proud of him. And thank you for the birthday wishes. Meowee- Thank you for moving the lists to a better place. Its good to review whats right for us. I'll have to go over to the link and read what you've written. Hope you don't get to hot today. Peggy- Hope you have a good trip. Drive carefully, visit lots..... Ann72 07-09-2008, 03:01 PM Thank you all for the warm welcome, it's great to be here. It looks like you all have had some great successes so far, and I hope to learn from you and get moving in the right direction. So far, all is well. The hardest thing is cutting out the sweets. I just seem to crave them. I've been trying to do the fruit instead, but sometimes it's just not cutting it. I'm definitely a work in progress. -Ann Toni48 07-09-2008, 03:24 PM Ann - Have you read the Sugar Busters book yet? I posted a list of stuff you can and cannot have. Its in Freq. asked questions section. After a week or two those cravings will go away. Good luck and take one day at a time. meowee 07-10-2008, 07:15 AM Good Morning . . . I think . . . Spent a very restless night last night and got up too early. Meowee, glad it is a beautiful day there. Enjoy it, the heat will return I'm sure. Ann, it takes a while to get over the cravings, but you do. Hang in there. You will probably get a bad headache from the withdrawl. Bob, Hope the hiar cuts turn out good. I hate slow days so, but I don't seem to have many of them. OK, I'm off to finish up some things. Talk you you in a week. OFF TO FLORIDA!!!!! chris313 07-12-2008, 09:43 AM Hello e:Dveryone I know I've been MIA again, but at least I have been productive....I got a job.:cheer: I took a position as a sales rep for a company that sells office printers, scanners, faxes etc... They know I don't have sales experience, but since I do have teleresearch experience, they know I can handle being on the phone a lot and are willing to train me!! What's great about this job is that it is 5 minutes away from my house. And unlike most sales jobs, I will work out of the office, so no traveling. Another great thing is I will be selling to wholesalers and they tend to place orders in quantity, so more commission! I get full benefits after 3 months, 401K after a year and a yearly salary too. To say I'm happy is an understatement. This is perfect timing for me as Gable will be off to school on August 13th. I start this Monday. I'll let you know how the first week went. I am going to change my signature now to reflect my new goal of losing 10 pounds. I have lost 1 pound already(from jumping up and down after getting my job). These last 9 pounds will probably take quite a while, but I'm eating this way forever so when it happens, it happens. Welcome Ann, you'll love it here. Believe it or not, the sugar cravings will go away. It takes time and you will have days where you just need a little 70% chocolate!:D I wish I had time for personals, but I have a German boy coming today for 2 weeks and I have to finish washing my floors. He was an exchange student this year at Gable's school and he loved CT (ie...Gable) so he's back for a visit. Enjoy the weekend-Chris Toni48 07-12-2008, 11:41 AM Hello I've had another wonderful surprise for my birthday. My brother from Colorado showed up. What a big surprise. I had the most wonderful time while he was here. And sure did hate to see him leave. I can't believe all the company I've had. Eating hasn't been great. But I'm back on the wagon today. LOL Steve's doctor wants him to eat low cholesterol so things are going to be easier around here. His doctor will give him a low cholesterol diet Monday but I know I'll be able to cook Sugar Busters way. Chris- congrads on the new job. It sounds just great and I'm so happy for you. And yippee on the 1 lb. loss!:carrot: Solly- Bet you're gone now. Hope you have a great time. Meowee- Hope you doing fine. Its been really hot here. And of course its going to get worse. SSDD around here -- it's going to be a steamy one with thunderstorms predicted for the afternoon. Hope everybody else gets decent weather and has a really great and fun kind of day . . . Toni48 07-15-2008, 11:03 AM Good morning all. We've got a beautiful cool morning here in Missouri. I did pretty good on my eating yesterday. Tonight I've got to do something with chicken breast. Any idea's???????? Meowee- I went back and reread that site again. I made DH a salad with shrimp on it. He wants lots of salads right now and I know he'll burn out on them. But it makes for good eating for me to so thats fine for a bit. Well a friend is taking me out for the day. So I'd better get around. Have a great day. Toni48 07-15-2008, 05:15 PM Woo hoo I hit pay dirt at the health food store. Found lots of good things. Got my Rivata crackers, spicy vegetarian refried beans, whole wheat coucous. Lots of good things there. Also got me some frozen mangos for my smoothies. So I'm a happy woman. meowee 07-16-2008, 09:31 AM Sounds good TONI :high: . . . BTW did you mean Ryvita? or is Rivata just something I've never heard of? Have you ever come across Wasa Crispbread . . . it's very similar to Ryvita but a little lower in calories (no fat) . . . made in Germany, I think. An a big Good Morning :grouphug: for everybody . . . hope you all have a great OP day on the go. SSDD around here -- last night the weather forecast was for cooler and less muggy today -- BUT, as of first thing this morning the seem to hve changed their minds back to hot and steamy again. Once change -- it's also sunny, and I'm not sure that's a good thing under the circumstances. See you later . . . :carrot: Ellen 07-16-2008, 11:12 AM Just dropping in to say hello! I have "Open Pool Day" here today, where anyone is welcome to drop in and swim. Some weeks we have several families, and others no one! It is fun though. I hope everyone is well. TONI, I am sorry to hear about your hubby's type 2, but it is not impossible to control. And Sugarbusters is a great diet for diabetics. Take care everyone! Toni48 07-16-2008, 11:47 AM Morning. Coffee is good and I'm on my first cup. I made me a wonderful wild blueberry smoothie yesterday afternoon. It made for a nice afternoon treat with some walnuts. Meowee- Don't know why I spelled Ryvita wrong. Simple me...... I haven't tried Wasa. These come from Germany too. If I'm not wrong. I just have two of them with peanut butter on them. Ellen- Its so good to hear from you. Open pool sounds wonderful, wish I lived closer. LOL Well back to drinking my coffee.... WOW, this group sounds so energetic and enthusiatic, as am I ! My Dr was aghast last week at my Triglyeceride (sp?) level......almost 900 !!!! She sent me to B&N to get the Sugar Buster's book...........I am a reformed woman, to say the least ! I've lost 4 pounds already and have embraced this way of healthy eating.........my cupboards are bare this morning as I cleaned out all kinds of bad stuff ! I have a question...........the book says moderate wine intake..........I like a few glasses of Chardonney before dinner.........is this okay? meowee 07-20-2008, 08:30 AM HI . . . I'm in a kind of depressed mood today -- sun is back and it's still hot and humid. Both my blood sugar and my weight are seemingly heading in the wrong direction. Oh well, as the old saying goes -- "any day above ground is a good one" -- so I'll try to keep seeing the good side. It isn't snowing. My guess would be that one or, maybe, two might be considered 'moderate'. :D chris313 07-20-2008, 12:59 PM Good Sunday morning to everyone! What a busy week. I finished my first week with my new job, and had my daughter's graduation party too. Talk about getting a lot of things done in a short space of time!! Now I have to get all my paperwork together for a court date on Tuesday. This is the first time in 20 years that we have to sue someone for not paying their bill. My husband is livid because the guy's a surgeon and has more money than God and decided to stiff us for the balance. I don't think the judge is going to like the fact that he bounced 4 checks on us too. I hope to win at least $5,000. He owes us more, but you can only get so much in small claims court. Better something than nothing. As for the job....I love it!! It's always busy, and the day flies by. I love my boss, and the training is going well. Theres is a ton of information to learn, but I'm doing it day by day, and getting the hang of it. I think I will do very well with this company once I start ordering. Being only 5 minutes away from work is wonderful. I'm home by 5:10 and still feel like I have a lot of day left. Gym-good luck with the move. Let us know how you like the new place. Meowee-I'm sorry you're a little down in the dumps today. The heat is very oppressive, maybe that has something to do with it? Here's to a better tomorrow!! Glad to hear you're not scaring children and small animals anymore.;) Toni-You have been quite the host lately. You're so lucky to have your family visiting a lot. I missed the posting about your hubby? Was he diagnosed with diabetes? Peggy-have fun in the hot tub!! Glad to hear Emily gained a pound on her Grandma's good cooking!! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, ladies-Chris Toni48 07-20-2008, 02:15 PM Hello Hello Sugar Busters Gals..... Well my company just left and it should probably be my last for the summer. This has been a busy last three weeks. I'll be glad to get back to normal again. And get back on eating right. My sis and I had suck a good visit. She brought all sorts of new make up and creams for my face for my birthday. Wasn't that a wonderful 60th birthday present. We had so much fun, her teaching me how to use it and me learning new things. Steve took us out for dinner Sat. night and then out for a drink. I made my taco soup for Friday night and sis loved it. So the week end was great...... Bibala-:welcome: To this little corner of the world. Sugar Busters is so great for your cholesterol. I have high to and this way of eating is the best. Its really a way for you to eat the rest of your life. And once you get the hang of it so easy. As far as the wine I believe they mean a wine glass. And two for men. Not much but it is something. I to like to have a glass or two with dinner or afterward. If you find you're having trouble losing it might be the wine. I have trouble with that. Good luck and ask questions. None are to small. Chris- wow your new job sounds wonderful and exciteing. What a good reason to eat right. I hate you're having to go to court but hope you get some of your money back. Steve is only 5 or 10 minutes from work so he even comes home for his dinner at night. meowee- Sorry you're having a down day and hope the afternoon brings a better one. Well think I'll go heat me another cup of coffee.... And then just relax the day away. :coffee: PeggyJ 07-21-2008, 09:58 AM Good Morning from blistering hot Alabama! It is going to be over 100 today (106 with the heat index), so anything outdoors will have to be done this morning or left for another day. I do not want to melt! TONI~~You have had so much company it makes ME tired! I have been so slack in that dept that I feel ashamed! I have got to focus more on inviting some folks b/c they are elderly and I should not be so neglectful. Meowee~~I hope the blues have backed off a bit for you and you will soon be back in the Pink! CHRIS~~Your new job sounds wonderful! I am so pleased for you! I hope you get your money back on your court case. I had to sue someone once (renter's) for almost $5,000, it was time consuming but I got every cent they owed me and enough to replace brand new carpet they ruined by "raising" 8 puppies in my house! Sheesh! BIBALA~~Welcome to you too! I think you will love this board! GYM~~~Hope the move went well! Toni48 07-21-2008, 11:51 AM Happy Monday everyone. Well here it is Monday and a new week. My BS was 170 this morning before breakfast I just took it and it is 124. That is about the best BS for this time of day I have ever had. I am drinking ice water by the gallon and trying to stay full of water and not so many Sprite Zero's. I didn't walk this morning and I should have. Toni48 07-21-2008, 02:41 PM Bibala- You would have to read the ingredients on the back of the can. Does it have cornstarch in it? We can't have that. I tried to find it online but couldn't. Peggy- I know just what you mean. I think everyone is busy with summer. I'm sure they'll come back. Solly 07-21-2008, 03:25 PM I'm back. Vacation was great. Ate lots of fish (fried) and drank lots of wine. But I am totally disgusted with myself and my body so looks like I am joining a few others that are starting over today. I was surprised the scale was not up more, but I will take it and go from there. BF was yogurt & a banana, Lunch: salad with 2 oz of turkey and an egg in it. Pineapple, (I know it's not legal, but it is one of the few fruits I like). Dinner, will be a steak, asparagus and something else. May broccoli salad. Toni, sounds like a nice visit with your DS. What has happened to Steve? Did he get a bad doctor report? Gym, glad you moved, are you settled in yet? Bibila, :welcome: This is a great group. I thought cream of mushroom soup was legal. I would have to check. Peggy, we met lots of people from AL on our trip. It wasn't that hot in Destin. Chris, hope you liked your hot tub. we love ours. Right now it is too hot to enjoy it even though we have it turned down to 97 degrees. Meowee, hope you are feeling better today.Just remember, you have a choice. You can choose to be down or choose to be up. Go for the gusto! Got to run, have lots of work to catch up on. Oh, I did get up this morning at 5:30 and walk. Rudy would not walk any more, but we got in about 25-30 minutes. Better than nothing. Have a great evening  Bibala 07-21-2008, 04:28 PM Thanks for the welcomes, ladies ! I am going to take a chance on the soup and go get the fixings for a marvelous Mexican Casserole............I can freeze about 10 meals with it and it is so easy to micro wave with a nice, big salad :) Toni48 07-21-2008, 05:28 PM Bibala I wish sometime you would post the recipe. I love mexican food. Bibala 07-21-2008, 08:24 PM Oh, sure, Toni ! This is from Cooking Light and I've tweaked it just a bit to make it a SB meal.........only question is the soup. 1 1/3 Cups FF less-sodium chicken broth 1 Cup canned chopped greens, drained ( I love [I]very[I] spicy so use the hot ones) 1 Cup chopped onion 1 Cup lite sour cream 1/2 t (or more) ground cumin 1/2 t freshly ground pepper 2 cans condensed 98% FF Cr of chicken soup, undiluted Cooking spray 6 (or more) WW Tortillas cut in half 4 C shredded cooked chicken ( Deli chicken is perfect) 2 C finely shredded cheddar cheese Heat oven to 350' Combine first 7 ingredients in large suce pan, stirring with a whisk and bring to a boil.....remove from heat Spread 1 C soup mixture in a 13x9 inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Arrange tortillas over the soup mixture and top with 1 C chicken and 1/2 Cup cheese Repeat, ending with cheese......spread remaining soup mixture over cheese Bake for 1/2 hour or untill bubbly This makes 12 servings of 3/4 C It freezes beautifully and is a great dinner with a large salad !!!!!!!! meowee 07-22-2008, 08:02 AM Good Morning . . . Sorry I was missing yesterday but mainly because we finally got rain. :yay: -- BUT, it has come as the tail-end of a nasty tropical storm named Cristobal and is filled with lots of thunder, lightening, and wind. It's still continuing for today, but it is quiet right now so I thought I'd pop in while I had the chance. Hope to see you all later . . . :grouphug: Solly 07-22-2008, 09:34 AM Good morning ladies, We got rain last night too, so I did not get to walk this morning, but will do it tonight. Yesterday was a perfect day of eating. I overslept this morning and had to throw my lunch together so now I have to plan my dinner around it. I am trying to only have 1 carb a day. It is hard to do. Meowee, I hate that your rain had to come from Cristoball, but I guess it is better than no rain. Be safe. Bibala, in your recipe you say greens (spicy). Do you mean green chilis? It sounds good, I think I will try it. You could probably use lean ground meat in lieu of the chicken too. You mix the sour cream in? Toni, did you make it on the :tread: yesterday? I will go to the gym tonight and walk Rudy when it cools off. Got lots to do today so I had better get busy. Have a great day  PeggyJ 07-22-2008, 11:47 AM Good Morning, Another hot day today but not quite as hot as yesterday. BS this morning was 140 which is better than normnal... Once yesterday it even got as low as 90! I am OP but I can tell this is going to get boring fast if I don't find more things I like that are OP. I like the recipe Bibala has here! Thanks for that! The "blues" must be making their rounds, I have felt so depressed since yesterday when I had a doozy of a conversation with my 32 yr old son. He was asking something of me I can not do and the conversation ended with him telling me he "wished his Dad HAD killed me that night he Almost did"....nothing like hearing something like this from your only child! A sad day for sure. And this will alter my relationship with my GD and that is even more sad. But I'll regroup and do what I have to do to keep visitation with Emily. Luckily I have court ordered visitation with her from a situation in the past and he can't deny me that. The stress of this situation has taken the appetite and it is hard to eat when you have no hunger. I have to just remember...tomorrow is another day! Bibala 07-22-2008, 12:15 PM OOps...............YES, I left out the word Chilies !! And, sure, I would use lean beef for a change, and yes, the sour cream is part of the soupy mixture. I used to make it with corn tortillas, and more of them, but I figured I'd use less of the whole wheat ones and and save some carbs. Peggy, I'm so sorry about the awful situation with your son.......I hope things can improve, somehow :( Toni48 07-22-2008, 12:59 PM Good late morning all. Jackson has fleas and drove us crazy last night. We were all up much of it. Poor guy this is the first time he's ever had them. Our vet doesn't open till tomorrow and we'll get some stuff then. I hope at least Steve gives him a bath today. Eating was right on yesterday. From oatmeal at breakfast. A deli roast and swiss cheese sand. for lunch and a nice big salad with chicken on it for dinner. I was so pleased. I even got my water in. Bibala- Thanks so much for the recipe. I've got to try it when we grocery shop. I love mexican food. And it looks filling and tastey. How did yours turn out with the ww shells? Peggy- I'm so sorry for what your son said. You know its sad he's going to have to live with what he said to you. And some day he's going to be sick and sorry he let his mouth fly. Grab hold gal we love you here and are here when you need to talk. I hope today gets better for you. Solly- My gosh we're doing it. If we just take that one day at a time. Steve is finally trying to lose to and its sure helping. Last night I was going to break down and have a Ryvita cracker with peanut butter and he said well not me its to late and it was enough to get me set right. I'm so glad. I did my first walk on the treadmill in awhile. Woopie we can do this. Meowee- Glad you got the rain. Wish we would get some. Guess I'm going to have to water my tomatoes this evening. Speaking of tomatoes I picked 4 little cherry ones off yesterday and had them with my salad. Hope its calm today. Well breakfast is late so I'd better get to cooking it. Have a great day and don't forget to drink your water....... PeggyJ 07-22-2008, 02:56 PM Thank you Ladies for the support and well wishes. This has been a long time coming. Jack blamed me for divorcing his dad, which happened after a night of horror, being held hostage for 9 hours at the end of a shotgun by a drunk man. I literally had to escape from him. We had been married for 28 years. It is not like Jack was a little boy either he was about 24 and had been married himself for several years. I just reached a point I could not live my life in danger any longer. I have a disorder called PTSD and you don't just "remember" events, like you would say a birthday....you actually "relive" them, all the emotions come back like they are happening all over again. Jack got this all stirred up yesterday and it will just take me a spell to get all of this calmed back down. I am a tough old bird but this really is sad. Thanks for the good wishes ...it helps alot. Solly 07-23-2008, 09:04 AM Good morning ladies, It has rained here again this morning therefore no walk again. we did get out for 35 minutes last night. I did not make it to the gym, I was exhausted last night. Another perfect day of eating. One day at a time. Peggy, I am so sorry for the way your son treated you. You are smart to leve a situation like that and your son should realize that. One day he will wake up and see what he has done. I hope you will be able to work it out to see your GD. Toni, You go girl! We can do this. I did it before and I know I can do it. It will be such a big help with Steve losing too. He will be good motivation. Last night we had burgers and I had mine w/o the bun. I had fixed sweet potato fries for the rest of them and I ate broccoli salad. It was a good feeling. Bibala, thanks for the clarifications. Hang in there. Breakfast will be 1/2 an hardboiled egg, yogurt and a banana. Lunch is a salad with turkey and strawberries. Snack will be cauliflower and dip. Dinner is rigatoni with ww pasta. Have a great day. meowee 07-23-2008, 09:16 AM Good Morning . . . :grouphug: Aww PEGGY, hang in there, girl -- this too will pass -- too bad that your fully grown son is acting like a 12 year old -- geez, sometimes our kids can be amazingly stupid. BTW, that is a really sweet picture of your darling GD. Well it is still raining a bit off and on, but the worst is over -- we did not get nearly as much rain as some areas of our little Province -- but it was enough that my grass, bushes (and weeds :s:) are all looking so lush and green this morning, they are practically glowing. Sounds like Texas is about to get a hit from Hurricane Dolly . . . :crossed: that nothing too awful happens as a result. Looks like another bad year of storms is shaping up. :( Slept in until after 7 am this morning and got a really nasty blood sugar reading to show for it -- at least the scale took a downward blip to 211 -- really wish I could get thos both moving downward at the same time. As usual, my normal 'slug-like' personality is winning the battle and I'm slacking off with the exercise again, although at least my eating is OP. Hope everybody has a great day, doing lots of fun stuff . . . see you later . . . PeggyJ 07-23-2008, 12:42 PM Thank you sweet Ladies for the well wishes! Meowee~~I have to disagree with you! The son was MORE mature at 12 that he is at 32! He has lost something along the way for sure. He just needs to go somewhere and grow up! I love that picture of Emily too, it was taken last Easter. I am glad you got rain and did not get blown away! Solly~~From your mouth to God's ear regarding all you said Toni and Bibala~~Thank you both! Had a sleepless night for the most part, and my BP was bounding everywhere from extremely low to extremely high, BS was 166 this morning. Eating OP just having a time making myself eat when not hungry. It sure makes portion control easy. I hope all of you have a good day! If things go as they should Emily will be here at 4 for an overnight stay. We'll see. Thanks again for ALL your support. Dtrmndtosucceed43 07-23-2008, 04:14 PM Hey,everybody! This is just a quick hello from Tennessee where it is HOT and we have had NO RAIN! I am thinking of everyone, just really too busy to take time to speak, lately! Happy, healthy eating all! Michele meowee 07-24-2008, 11:06 AM Good Morning . . . :grouphug: Well . . . that'll teach me to crow about the nice number from the scale- yesterday -- back up to 214 this morning -- of course, might have something to do with my eating way to many carbs and way to much salty stuff yesterday. :s: Hopefully just mostly water-weight. Today the sun is actually trying to shine for the first time in a few days. Hoping for a nice day for the normal Thursday 'mall-crawl' excursion this afternoon -- lots of little stops to make -- looking for the last of the local strawberries and blueberries for a start; but I do fear the season is mostly over. Hope everybody else has a great OP day and gets lots of fun stuff done also. See you later . . . Solly 07-24-2008, 12:27 PM Good morning ladies. Luckily today I got out of bed and got in a 40 minute walk. It was hard to do as I only got about 3 hours of sleep last night. I was tired, just couldn't fall asleep. Should get another one in tonight. It was really cool this morning, in the low 60's. Meowee, glad you finally got some rain. I love it when it rains and I don't have to water all my flowers. Sorry the scale was back up today. I hate water weight. Peggy, hope your GD got to visit yesterday. I'm sure all the stuff on your mind, gave your the sleepless night. Hope last night was better. Michele, good to hear from you. Hope the weather breaks soon in Vol country. Toni:  How is your morning going? Got to get busy. My boss just informed me we have a luncheon to go to. Hopefully I can find some salad or fruit. Have a great day  Toni48 07-24-2008, 01:15 PM Oh boy good morning. The storm the night before knocked my internet out and I was off line yesterday. Finally its fixed. Eating has been great. Last night I made bean burritos from some canned organic refried beans I found at the health food store with low fat cheese, lite sour cream, onions and whole wheat tortillas. They were so good and DH just loved them. The only bad thing I had was some wine. I'm kicking myself this morning. Peggy- Your GD is a doll. I just love the picture of her. You might need a little nap today. Michele- Good to see you. I tried to send you some rain from Missouri but I guess it didn't go.... meowee- Maybe tomorrow you'll be back to that good number tomorrow after the salt goes away. Solly- I'm in envy of your walking. I did my treadmill last night but I was really dragging. Oh my gosh I love broccoli salad. I've got to get more veggies in. Think tomorrow I'll make a big pot of veggie soup. I know that sounds hot. Well I've just got to get busy. You all have a good day.... Christian 07-24-2008, 04:05 PM Hi ladies! Hope its ok if I jump in and join your team, I am not new to sugar busters or this board, but I havent followed the diet in many years, I lost about 60 pounds on it in 2000 and have done about 100 diets since then :dizzy: BUT I am ready to come back to SB and stick to it, I am not going to be perfect I know it, but I did it 6 days a week before and got the results I wanted so I should be ok, I am looking forward to getting to know you all and losing this weight once and for all :D meowee 07-24-2008, 05:13 PM :welcome: . . . glad to have you joining us . . . Toni48 07-24-2008, 05:31 PM Woo Hoo! Christian glad to have you back.... :carrot: meowee 07-25-2008, 09:41 AM Good Morning . . . :grouphug: Looks like we are right back into the sunny, hot and sticky weather again. Oh well, at least no shovelling is required. Hope everybody else has great plans for today and for the upcoming weekend. Bibala 07-25-2008, 10:03 AM Good morning ! I am loving this WOE..............I'm losing weight and feeling very energized.......don't know if that is mental or because of no sugar, but it sure feels good :) Is it true that we can't have corn on the cob? ( I think I already know the answer:( ) Also, is ther a help section that will show me how to upload an Avatar Photo and also paste a weight loss banner? ) I have upladed two photos but it says they 'failed' ) Happy weekend to all !! Solly 07-25-2008, 10:14 AM Good morning ladies, I'm on day 5 of good eating. I was totally wiped out yesterday. Didn't have the energy to do anything but beg out on the couch. So we did not get out evening walk in and I did not get up and walk this morning. But planning on doing so in the morning. Tonight we are going to a concert in the park and taking cheese and crackers (cram cheese with Harry & David peppers and onions) Not totally legal (too much sugar in the H&D) but I have nothing elese in the house. There will be some wine too. Hopefully, not too much. Tomorrow we have a birthday party at a lake in Indiana for my nephew who is turning 40. So I am at their mercy on food. But I plan to make the best choices and watch my portion sizes. No cake though. Toni I love bean burritos but they kill me if you know what I mean. Wine is a part of my life and yours too it sounds, so we have to find a way to enjoy it w/o letting it wreck our eating. Wow that must have been some storm. Glad you are back on. Don't be too envious of my walking, you can see from above I did not do too good last nite or today. Christie, welcome back. Glad you decided to join us again. Bibala, no corn is not legal in any form. Sorry I love it too Meowee, now let'snot be talking about snow. Do you realized Christmas is only 6 months away from today? Off to track my food. Have a great day and a great week. I may be able to check in on the weekends now that I have a Blackberry. I will see how it goes. meowee 07-25-2008, 11:02 AM Bibala . . . unfortunately you cannot have a signature (that's where the weight trackers reside) until you've been a member for at least 20 days and made at least twenty posts. . . . to upload an avatar picture, go to User CP and then click on Edit Avatar. Sounds like everyone is doing great here, I love that! I just got back from the farmers market place and got some fresh peaches and cherries, they were YUMMMY! My hubby just had to go to Hardees ( he is on vacation) so I ate the middle out of a bacon egg and cheese and gave him the biscuit ;) oh and one of the slices of bacon, not totally legal, but it could have been worse TRUST ME :dizzy: I hope you all have a great weekend, and I am sure there are skinny jeans in our futures :grouphug: Oh and Toni- I just drove past Eminence the other day, I live just outside of Poplar Bluff and had went to Springfield for vacation, you live in a beautiful town that is for sure! Bibala- I too LOVE corn, BUT I am learning to adjust again ;) Solly- Have a great night and I am sure you will do fine tommorow. meowee- thanks for the welcome, looks like you have had lots of success here too  Toni48 07-25-2008, 12:21 PM Morning all..... My day was good. I got my walk in on the treadmill. And eating went well. Now what am I going to have for dinner tonight? I can't even think. We might grill. I've got to get more veggies in my diet. I don't think I'm eating enough. meowee- Hope you have a good day. I dread the hot afternoon.... Bibala- Isn't eating good great.... I love the feeling you get from it. And watch the lbs. drop off. I miss corn on cob to. Not to mention cornmeal to make cornbread. Keep up the good work. Solly- Oh boy I hope you come on this week end. Its great you've got a blackberry now. You're always having such a good time on the week end I love to hear about it. Guess we'll go do a big grocery shopping since we haven't been for a few weeks and get restocked. I agree with you about the wine. Have a blast... Guess I'll go and finish my coffee and cook breakfast. Toni48 07-25-2008, 12:27 PM Chris- Opps I didn't see your post. How neat you were by here. You're just right near me. Yes its a beautiful little town. We live right on the Jacks Fork river. I wish so bad we had a farmers market near here. I would love some of those peaches and cherries. LOL meowee 07-26-2008, 10:20 AM  Bibala 07-26-2008, 03:22 PM [unfortunately you cannot have a signature (that's where the weight trackers reside) until you've been a member for at least 20 days and made at least twenty posts ] WAH !!!!!!! I want a tracker NOW !! :) OK, I'll be patient and keep posting...........I was afraid that corn will not be on the menu for me, but that's okay as every day I step on the scale I have lost .............it is really quite amazing, and forgoing my Chardonney has not been so hard, either, especially when I see the results I'm seeing.............hope everyone has a lovely weekend ! meowee 07-27-2008, 10:27 AM Good Morning Sugar-Babes . . . :grouphug: Luckily, we had a breeze and didn't get too much sun yesterday since I woke up with a really nasty migraine and couldn't stand any noise or any light and had to turn off my noisy dehumidifier and window A/C units. This morning, no headache :yay:, so the noisy appliances can go back on. Good thing since the sun is back with a vengeance and the heat and humidity levels are going to be even worse than yesterday. There's a lot to be said for electric baseboard heating -- it's very clean (almost no dust) and it's very quiet. Although it used to be about the most expensive method of heating, it isn't anymore because the price of oil is so high, plus all-electric houses are very well insulated and that actually reduces the costs of both heating and cooling. Well, that's true if the house was built for electric heating -- it doesn't make a good retrofit for an older house without a lot of additional expense. BUT -- I really miss central A/C -- the window units do the job, but they are sooooo noisy and sooooo ugly -- but, without a forced air system, that's about the only option. Anyway . . . hope everybody is having a really great and fun Sunday . . . stay cool, gang and I'll see you all later. Toni48 07-27-2008, 10:58 AM Good Sunday morning everyone. Its already so muggy out today I'm sticking close to the house. We went big grocery shopping yesterday and we're all stocked in. I got some lovely peaches and plums. Lots of good veggies. And today we're going to grill a marinated pork tenderloin. Theres two in the package so they'll be left overs for the week. Think today I'll do some laundry and just kind of relax. Theres still things in the kitchen to put away so hopefully will get around to that. Other than that a happy Sunday. Hope you all enjoy it too. chris313 07-27-2008, 03:32 PM Hello everyone! Finally down another pound. But I just got through eating Milk Duds, so we'll see how long that lasts. Enjoy your Sunday!! Toni48 07-27-2008, 04:08 PM Chris- Throw those milk duds out and get back up on this here wagon.... Toni48 07-27-2008, 08:14 PM Had the best breakfast even though it was at 12 LOL... It was a 1/2 ww bagel with weight watchers cream cheese, a sliced white meat peach and some cherry tomatoes from my plant. This evening we're having grilled pork tenderloin, garlic noodles, green beans with stewed tomatoes and italian seasoning cooked in. Yum O...... Solly 07-28-2008, 09:29 AM Good morning ladies. Eating this weekend was not perfect but not that bad so I am happy, Got in a walk Saturday and this morning. So we are on the right track. Hoping I can get to the gym this week and get back in that routine. Today is my 35th wedding anniversary. Nothing special planned as the girls play volleyball tonight and we can't miss that. The weekend was busy no no time to celebrate then. Maybe I'll stick some candles on the table tonight with out dinner. Toni, sounds like you did great with your eating over the weekend. Glad you are stocked up. It sure makes eating easier when you have the right foods. Meowee, glad that migrane is gone. My girls suffer with them all the time. I have had a few in my life but not like them. Bibala, I love your attitude. With that you will do great. Keep up the good work. Christie, what willpower you have. I would have eaten the bisquit only as it is my favorite part. Chris, Milk Duds? Get them out of the house. You can do this. I have a recipe for oatmeal cookies made with ww flour. I will try to make them tomorrow night and let you know how they are. That is my favorite cookie. Have a great day  meowee 07-28-2008, 10:19 AM Hi there . . . Running late again but wanted to say a quick Hello . . . and wish SOLLY a very happy anniversary . . . Toni48 07-28-2008, 02:17 PM Happy Monday everyone. I've started off my week well. Walked on the TM this morning and my 1/2 ww bagel with light cream cheese, sliced white meat peach and tiny sliced cherry tomatoes for breakfast. What a wonderful way to start the week. Its leftover pork tenderloin for dinner and maybe I'll try and do something with some zucchini. Solly- You go girl on the exercise.... You can do it. Happy Anniversary to youuuuuuuu. :congrat: I hope you get sometime to celebrate. You're so darn busy. Ain't summer grand. Meowee- Slow down lady..... Sounds like you're out of breath..... LOL Well guess I'll get on with my day. Got me a giant cup of water...... Don't forget to drink, drink, drink.... chris313 07-29-2008, 12:43 AM The:devil:Milk Duds are gone! Unfortunately I ate them and that is why they're gone. I have been right back on track though and didn't beat myself up over it too badly. It was also that damn TOM, so I had to cut myself a little slack! Have a great week ladies. I'll be thinking of you all:yay: Solly 07-29-2008, 09:14 AM Good morning ladies. Sorry to say I did not get my walk in this morning. I could not open my eyes. I am so :tired: Maybe tonight. My DH got stung in the eye by a wasp on Sunday. It got caught behind his glasses. Poor thing, it was swollen shut today. My poor puppy is getting neutered today. He will be mad at us for ahwile. Meowee, thanks for the wishes. It was very uneventful. After 3 Benydrals and a few beers he was history. ha-ha Toni, you go girl. You are on the right track, keep going. Chris, the most important thing is you got right back on track. We are not perfect and will always have slips, but if you can get back on track and not go on a binge that is great and it should not bother you weight wise. Have a great day  Toni48 07-29-2008, 12:06 PM Good morning.... Stayed up till the wee hours of the morning. Shame on me now I'm just a slug. But Steve and I were talking and making plans for our trip to Calif. the last of Sept. It was fun. Got to get things ready for my trip to the heart doc tomorrow its about 4 hours away so its an all day trip. I'm always glad when its over. Solly- So sorry for DH getting stung. How awful. Maybe you'll get a little walk in tonight. Sounds like you needed the rest. Chris- You can do this girl. Just take one day at a time. Got to run. Have a good day. RiceKrispiTreat 07-29-2008, 01:08 PM Hey everyone! I know I have been missing on the board! We went away for a few weeks to the beach..and...I was really really good sticking with the plan..until I got home!!!! Ugggh! I haven't cheated once until now, (despite all the ice cream, funnel cakes, salt water taffy, cotton candy, and other sweets at the beach!) so I guess I am beating myself up a bit! Our freezer started defrosting our food yesterday, and we had to start getting rid of the stuff that was melting quickly....forgot about those Heath bar Klondike bars stuck in the back of the freezer...!! My kids were eating them and I caved in and had one too, and then later on , I had another!! I rationalized that I had already "broken the rules" so whats another one!! I know ..I know! Boy, when you aren't used to sugar, it really does give you a rush. Well, I am back on plan now. Wish I could take that back though. I was doing soooo well! Anyway, I think for me...I just cannot cheat even once, cause then it's too hard to stay with it..I hope everyone is doing well! We can do this!! One day at a time... xox Ashley meowee 07-29-2008, 01:25 PM Hi gang . . . I too have followed that method of getting rid of food, CHRIS. :s: I've also found myself in your position too ASHLEY. Amazing how we find ourselves so unable to waste anything, even though we know we should just pitch the stuff. Unfortuntely, I seem to be having one of those days when absolutely nothing wants to go right, but I won't drag the rest of you down with the details. Suffice it to say things will get better soon. :crossed: Have a good day, gang . . . :grouphug: RiceKrispiTreat 07-30-2008, 01:56 AM Hugs to you , Meowee! Hang in there... "this too shall pass" I've also had those type of days before, so I can certainly relate to the frustration. Tomorrow is a new day, and hopefully with it brings a better day for you! :-) And, Chris, that darn TOM..same thing here! I blame it for everything! haha.! Bibala 07-30-2008, 07:54 AM Good Morning, ALL ! Just wanted to say a happy Wednesday to all and let you know that I have family visiting............Sunday all of my family ( 3 kids and 6 Grandkids will be heading for vacation on an island with no running water or electricity !!!!!!!! Talk about getting away from it all !! :) But we do it evey year for 4 nights and we just love it. I will stay on SB so am packing carefully.............I have lost 11 pounds since starting this month, and though I know that is a lot of weight for such a short period, and it won't continue at that rate, it is motivating !!!!! I'll be back posting soon, but in the meantime, thanks for your support and best to all !!!!!!! Solly 07-30-2008, 09:31 AM Good morning ladies. Dragging again today. I am beginning to think it is the Lyrica that is doing it. I am going to skip it tonight and see how tomorrow is. I even took it earlier last night thinking that would help. DH is a little better, not a lot. He slept the entire time from getting home until bed time due to the Benadryl. Rudy's surgey went well. Now he is back in his funk and avoiding us. I guess I won't walk him in the mornings for a couple weeks. But I will try to get my lazy arse up and walk. Meowee, sorry you are in a funk. Hope today is going better for you. Toni, saying a prayer for your Dr's visit today. Let us know how it goes. Planning your vacation with Steve sounds like so much fun. Bibala, I can't imagine going w/o water and electricity for 4 days, but have a ball. 11 pounds in a month is awesome :cheer: I am so jealous. Rice Krispie, don't beat yourself up over the icecream. You should be so proud staying on program the whole time on the beach. That is a huge accomplishment. We really have to overcome that mindset of "breaking the rules" so we have a free ticket to eat anything. I believe that may be the secret to being thin. Got to go post my food. I made some low fat oatmeal cookies last night with ww flour. I changed the sugar to splenda blend and they are pretty good. Small but good. Have a great day. meowee 07-30-2008, 09:46 AM Good Morning . . . :grouphug: I'm definitely feeling brighter this morning . . . not really sure why . . . but I'll take it. Weather-wise, the forecast for all of Atlantic Canada is for "unsettled conditions" -- meaning, they've got themselves covered no matter what happens. So far, in north-eastern Nova Scotia, we've got partly sunny, partly cloudy with moderate temperatures, a little breeze and slightly lower humidity than the past couple of days -- guess they've got it right. :s: My biggest irritation today is my veritable herds of fruit flies -- I've currently got 5 vinegar-water-soap jars on the go in the kitchen and every morning they are full of the little demons. I've put all my fruit (even tomatoes) into the fridge (and I hate cold fruit), but still they are thick and so small that the cats can't catch them. They really love the Balsamic Vinaigrette I use on my dinner-time salad (me too). :dizzy: Oh well, happens every year, eventually they all just die off again. Anyway . . . hope everybody has a great day . . . with great weather and no Fruit flies. meowee 07-31-2008, 10:42 AM Hi . . . SSDD -- hot, sunny, humid -- fruit flies are still winning.
