Good Morning Ladies:)

Got up early this morning as we had a thunderstorm right on top of us and it was scary, having the bed directly under the sky lights.Seeing the lightening bolts, and all that.

VICKIE-Thanks for starting us up this week. I can't believe that this is the last day of JUNE. Hope July is a better month for all of us.[weightwise & healthwise]

Well post after I have my core breakfast[Instant Banana Oats]recipe.

June has flown. I'm happy for a new start tomorrow. TOM came and helps explain my unexpected bloating/hunger/crabbiness/lack of motivation. Since I'm 52 you can imagine my surprise at its arrival.

I'm off today to do some more heavy duty countertop and tile shopping. Be well and stay on program.

Morning All!

I'm glad that I wasn't up early because that means I actually slept!

Sloanie, it wasn't quite as bad as a sheep dip, we only had to walk through a pool of the stuff. I guess they were worried about our dirty feet! It was likely a useless exercise, but in retrospect, it was quaint.

Good luck with your shopping, Vickie. I opted for a pewter colored counter and a matte white backsplash. It looks great with lime and lemon accents in the kitchen.

Stay Core, exercise and drink water everyone!

Mornin' chicks! I've already got my table decorated for the "fourth festivities". Now for the grocery shopping.

Rhonda-your kitchen colors sound cheerful! Yellow is my favorite color!! Glad the sandman was good to you last night.

Vickie-I hear ya! TOM is playing tricks on me, too. I'm 3 months away from the big 50, and sometimes I get surprised myself. Also, I'm about to start shopping for new countertops. I've hated mine for at least ten years, so I think it's time. I hope to be ready in the next couple of months.

BB-I'll bet you felt like that storm was coming in the house with you. My DH would love to be able to watch a storm from the bed, but not me.

Have a great day everyone! Don't forget to start looking for new recipes to meet the challenge.

Good morning ladies! My mother is 55, and has just now finally in the last few months skipped TOM. I'm doomed.

Life is going well around here. I am trying to modulate my eating and am walking just about every day with my mom.

We're working on some new items for the frozen custard store. The ones I'm spearheading are homemade lemonades and lime rickeys. They're SOOO yummy, and I can get a sugar-free syrup to make them with, so we will actually officially have something at the store that's not horrible for you. I was wondering why I had been gaining weight, but then I checked the points value on our stuff. It's quite scary actually. Let's just say that I do NOT have the WPAs to eat at the store.

I also have to create a specialty item for the 4th of July. I'm thinking a red, white and blue sundae, with vanilla custard, strawberry topping, and blueberries with a little toothpick flag stuck in the top.

My girls are starting swimming lessons today, and they're very excited. I'd better go get ready.

HEY Everyone..sorry I have not been posting as much.
I feel like a nurse because one son had his wisdom teeth out
Sat, another son was sick and my husband hit his head
on the job Friday . He had a sore neck and was irritable all Sat, but felt
better Sunday.
I hope to get alot done this week in the yard. The weeds are thriving!!

My baby bunnies did not make it. It is not unusually for a rabbits first litter
to not survive. The mom did not want to nurse and we tried to formula feed them but couldn't save them. We are going to get another female and breed
them both at the same time If she neglects them we can let the other mom foster them.

I have not been walking as much but I bought a weight bench and rearranged our playroom to set it up. Sunday I ate alot of bad stuff.
Pizza and sausage gravy biscuits. I have been stressed so that may be why but it is the first time in months that I ate like that.

Plan this week. Walk/Work on Yard/Start using weight bench gradually/Core

Good afternoon ladies, hope everyone is doing well. Going to a friends pool today and I will start going to our lake tomorrow. Have to keep the kids busy, by 10am all I hear is I'm bored.

Vickie good luck with your shopping.

Sloanie I will check out the new challenge, I didn't do so well on last weeks challenge but today is a new week.

Nancy sorry about the bunnies, that is so sad.

Angela the Fourth specialty sounds good, my kids swimming lessons start on the 7th

BB we had a bad thunderstorm on Saturday, we have had so many in the month of June.

Everyone have a great op day, I will check back later.

Just checking in. After posting this morning DH and I decided to do some home improvement and paint the playroom. Before we finished buying paint, we had also bought a door for the playroom. I'm cutting in with the paint, and he'll roll (my shoulder does not like rolling paint) after he's finished hanging the door. None of this is what I had planned, but anytime DH is up for a project I'm happy.

Angela-it sounds like life is getting back to normal for you and your family. The special for the fourth sounds cute!
Nancy- so sorry about the bunnies! Poor things :(

awww, Nancy, I'm sorry about the bunnies. I didn't know that first litters had such a hard time. There should be a La Leche for bunnies, obviously.

Angela, I love the sundae idea. Since I'm up here in Canada, I might have to work on the 4th, but you're all inspiring me to do something special this year. Tomorrow is Canada Day, and the color are red and white. Just add blue for Friday!

Sloanie, my kitchen is in a transition stage. It originally looked like a Mexican cantina (on purpose) but, I'm slowly making it less so for resale purposes. The lime and lemon accents give it a clean look. The appliances and walls are white, the floor will be cork and the knobs and handles are chrome. It looks like it would pass a public health inspection!

My DH is procrastinating on his chores! But, I'm doing mine like a good girl.

Hi there, Chickies. Our new bed arrived today. That's the last of the furniture. Actually, we had sold all our old furniture when we sold our home and are now having all new. It's like setting up a stage scene. Lots of fun. (Especially for the old play director here.)

Vickie, thank you for the new pages. Are you having a good time selecting new goodies for your kitchen? I've been having a blast. Did I mention my new red toaster/oven and new red popup toaster? They're poppin?

Nancy, I am sorry about the bunnies. Didn't know about first litters' high mortality rate. Don't worry about the pizza and other stuff. Today begins a new week and you always do so well. Hang in there with your hurting guys.

Rhonda, your kitchen sounds like something off HGTV. Okay, how many more days till you retire and come back to Texas? I'm in need of seeing ya.

Angela, the sundaes sound delightful. You're a very creative lady.

BB, can you see the stars on clear nights? Just curious.

Sloan, I did some surfing last night for salad ideas. Taking salads is a big step in the right direction for me. I normally clue in on desserts(even low point ones.

Nikki, hi there. It's good to see you posting.

Sorry this is short. I need to run some errands. See ya later.

Tracie-I saw the calico beans. I'm very excited, thanks! :cp: Hopefully you can think of something fun to do for the fourth. Maybe something romantic!:val2:

Sloan, would you post your favorite of the crisp recipes.

sloanie
06-30-2008, 10:34 PM
Sandra-actually the one I'm going to try is called cobbler, and you posted it in May of 2005.

CORE COBBLER
5 cups mixed frozen mixed berries thawed (or fresh)
1/2 cup splenda
1 1/4 cup oatmeal
1 tsp cinnamon
ICBIB spray
1/2 cup water
cook 350 35 minutes

mix all ingredients except 1/4 oatmeal and icbib spray, put into a 9 by 13 baking dish, sprinkle with remaining oatmeal, spray with icbib spray, bake. THIS IS SOOO GOOD. The oatmeal is cooked by the juices in the fruit. I am making it right now with peaches and blueberries. SOO YUMMY, and SO satisfying, too.

As compared with the crisp recipes I looked at, this one sounded the best. It sounds so good that I might not wait for the wild berries and buy some frozen ones to try!

Happy Canada Day, everyone. :woo:

Canada is 141 years old today. :hb: Of course, before that it was a collection of British Colonies, and before that it was home to the First Nations people. Ahh, what North America must have looked like before those ships made it across the Atlantic Ocean!

Sandra, in one year I am RETIRED, and headed back to Texas. The plan is to have Canada Day here in 2009, and then start the drive home. I plan to spend July 4, 2009 in Nebraska with a niece and her family, then continue the journey south.

I love red appliances! Mine are white, but I might just leave them here for my godson and get new ones next year. If so, they'll likley be red or cobalt blue, depending upon what the next kitchen looks like. I think my favorite kitchen was yellow, blue and white.

DH is still sleeping so I'm going to work on the study and filing cabinets. I got a lot done yesterday packing books and "stuff." And, DH got motivated and cleared out various piles of junk from here and there under the house, back porch, etc. We're calling the "got junk" people soon.

Have a great Core breakfast everyone and a good start to your day.

RHONDA-That what I'm planing to do this month staying on OP to the Core. I can't believe being on it for just 2 weeks and what a difference in my mood and being happy not to be counting points every time you put some thing in your mouth.

SLOANIE-My DH like storm also, but I'm deadly :fr: afraid of them, long story dated back to my childhood. Thanks Sloanie for the core cobbler recipe,it looks like a cool refreshing dessert for the hot summer months.

NANCY-Sorry:sorry: about your bunnies not making it. Sad that a mom would do that in the animal kingdom. Hope things will work out.

Hi everyone and Happy Canada Day to my northern chickies! Hope you are having a nice, op day.

Yesterday was tough, but its done and over. The mass was bad enough, but then the military honor burial.....needless to say when they played taps, everyone there was in tears. it was a wonderful tribute to my dad. I took dd to the beach today -- fabulous beach day. I ran into a friend with her dd, which was not planned. It was a nice day. tomorrow I need to help mom with a few more documents. Then I go back to work on Thursday. Then its the holiday on Friday.

We are not doing much for the holiday - we'll go to the fireworks on Thursday night (every year my family all meets at the same place), then there is a parade on Friday. Sunday my niece and her family will come down for a bbq. They attempted to come down earlier in June, but her dd ended up sick. So, assuming no one gets sick, we'll have it this weekend. It will be fun - they are coming to maine in August for the week. The girls are only 2 1/2 years apart, both are only children. So it works out.

Today is a new day and a new month. I need to get control of my eating fast -- did well today at the beach. Brought all core foods and a 100 calorie ritz snack mix. Grilled turkey tenderloins for dinner with some coucous salad. I have not written down my weight - I'll do that next Tuesday. I did weigh myself this morning, I'm up about 3 pds, so I've got some work to do.

I need to read and catch up on what is going on with you all. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers over the past few weeks. It amazing how close a group posting can become. I've missed keeping up on whats going on.

Take care!

Hi All:

Paula, I agree with Sandra: your strength shines through. I bet your Dad would be extremely proud of you for bearing up, being good with your DD and helping your Mom.

I remember when my Dad died he had almost NO material possessions to have to deal with. The family home was full of stuff, but his own possessions were quite limited in number. No doubt it was just the way he was but also the generation he was from: he let my mother do all the shopping! ;)

I've been packing boxes and shredding old financial documents almost all day. Unlike my Dad, I have too much stuff!

From 9:15 this morning to 9 pm, I have been on the go. When I got home from my last stop, the funeral home for my friend's mom, I pan fried some tilapia with my oil and some cornmeal for coating. It was delicious. Tomorrow I'll spend most of the day doing the funeral and then feeding the family and friends. Our church usually gives a lunch for the family when someone passes away, and I'm in charge of this one. I won't be cooking, but I will be transporting the food to my friends home, setting up and then cleaning up. I do have someone to help, but even with two of use we will be busy. Needless to say, I haven't tried the cobbler. I would love to be eating some right now, but I've had no time. Maybe by Thursday I'll have had time to try it.

Oh yea, one of my errands was wi. I gained .6lb, but that's okay. I know I should have had a loss, but I'm pretty sure TOM is almost here. I'm staying on core, so I know I should have a loss next week.

Paula-I know your mom appreciates your support, and your daughter needs you right now, too. It sounds like you have been very strong, just don't forget to allow yourself to grieve.

Rhonda-how was Canada day?

We are going up north after all, but only until saturday as my dbf's brother and his family aren't going up until saturday. So at least we have thursday & friday there. Then we are coming back on saturday and taking our boat out with some friends. Should be fun!

Paula, I'm glad you are doing better. I know it's been tough, but you seem to be holding it all together. We are here for you!

BB, core really does make you feel better. I need to get in some more exercise. Wish I could walk more, but can't because of the bad knee.

Sloanie, sounds like you will be very busy tomorrow. And don't worry about the .6. TOM tends to do that to you.

Rhonda, you sound very busy as well! Happy Canada day!

This morning I am heading out to hi-lite my friends hair after that I should be able to putter around the house and get some things done.

I have been eating mainly core but I have used some of my wpa, why do I feel guilty when I use them :D, I had 2 slices of pizza last night for dinner and I feel like I cheated and of course my scale is up a bit from the sodium :yikes: I have to keep telling myself they are there to use.

Hi everyone. Well, its official, I'm back OP! I just went on line and updated my food from yesterday and today. I took a 45 minute walk this morning as well. I feel in control and back on track. When I got back from my walk there was a delivery from Edible Arrangements -- a fruit arrangement. Melons, grapes, strawberries and pineapple! I'm thrilled. I've been picking at it already.

Niki, I bet its the sodium. It does feel like cheating when you splurge - doesn't it! I used about 24 points in one day -- I felt like I had blown it. But once I did figure out the points, it was fine. Thats the great thing about WW and core, you can eat anything as long as you watch the amounts.

Sandra, I see all your furniture is in. Are you officially in the new house? How exciting!!!

Slaon, hope you day is a bit slower today. With TOM, my weight can go up 2 pds! Thats usually the day before it starts. Keep on plan, it will be gone next week.

Tracie, have fun on your trip! We are not doing much for the holiday weekend. Keeping quiet.

Going to sit outside and read a bit. BBL.

Hi Ladies:)

After eating my core dinner my friend called and asked if i wanted to go our to lunch. I went with her but I ordered marinated clams appetizer and a cup of decaf coffee with a splash of milk. We had a great time talking as our both DH's have the same hacking cough.

This morning I didn't go out as the heat alert is till on for seniors. We have all the A/C's going to keep it cool in the house. Had salads made with a vinaigrette base, with some pollack fish fillet. Tonight I keeping the menu light also.

PAULA-I been to several military funerals, and taps always is a very sad tune for our fallen ones. Had number of friends & family involved. Remember there in a better place. The best is get back to normal living, glad you were able to take your DD to the beach. Have a happy forth, remembering the ones that gave us this freedom from year to year. We're not doing anything special, just trying to eat the core way.,to finally get this weight off once on for all.

BB, how impressive that you can see the stars and other heavenly wonders through your skylight. Sounds wonderful to me.

ONTARGET-OH NO!! by all means I wouldn't be able to see all that only threw my skylights. No I was talking about being out doors and looking up to the sky.We have a med size window but all that beauty would never fit into the skylight.

SLOANIE-Sorry about your friends mom passing. Its hard on the families left behind. Your gain of .6 is probably water retention with all the hot weather out there.Just keep on with your plan and you're sure to lose it next week.

TRACY-I love the core way its too bad that WW didn't have this program years ago, when the exchanges changed to the point plan. Be care full with your bad knee, maybe you could do some strength training for your upper body instead. Have a wonderful holiday weekend.

NIKI-I feel the same way but I still use my WPA & A/P's .So far this week I have 20WPA's left and I get new ones on Friday.

Have a great day

Canada Day was quiet for us, intentionally so.

I was back at work today, wishing not to have to be there. Oh well, one day at a time is all we get so I'll have to be more patient. When I left the office I told myself that I had done all I could for today and to let it go. I hope I can do that.

Hi Chicks!
My day went well. The lunch following the funeral was nice, and I'm sure the family appreciated it. I've just found out that I have to attend another funeral tomorrow. My DH's aunt passed, so off we go to another one! Also, after the funeral, we have to go to a going away party for a family friend's son who is joining the marines. Of course, the next day is the fourth, and my house is very cluttered. Before the funeral tomorrow, I have to go to the store and then cook for the BBQ on Friday.

I know I am whining, but I'm really tired. Oh well, one day at a time like Rhonda said. I have been on core though, and I haven't even used wpa's
yet. :carrot:

Niki-I agree, it does feel naughty when you eat something like pizza. We all know it is okay to do it, but it doesn't feel right.

Tracie-I'm glad you are getting some "away time" with DBF. Hope it's relaxing.

BB-congrats on your core lunch with your friend. It was a great idea to still eat something, but keep it core!

Seems sort of wrong to do, kwim? We did go to the fireworks last night, mom came as well, which she has not done in a very long time. The show was fabulous! DD loved them, we have been taking her since she was 2.

Quiet morning here, it did rain last night, but its supposed to clear. We are going to a parade this afternoon and then maybe to a bbq at a friends. Not 100% sure of that one. Otherwise nothing going on.

BB - when I stall I definatly cut out the carbs and it gets my system back on track. Also, tons and tons of water. Hope it all works for you this week.

Sloan, have fun at your brothers. Hope the weather clears for you.

Nice picture Rhonda! Hope the car works now.

Well, got to go see what dd is up to. She is in the basement playing with something. Have a great day.

Happy Fourth of July to all the U.S. and former U.S. Chickies! I'm off to a BBQ. I'm splurging a bit but made Core pasta salad so I should be good. And...there will be lots of fresh fruit.

Talk to you all later.

Hey chicks!
While waiting to go to my brother's house, I made some corn chips. I find the polenta chips a little tough, so I looked on the net for a corn chip recipe, and they are really good. Lots more grainy and crunchy than polenta chips. I'll post the recipe for you. I plan to take them with me to the BBQ so I can have chips and salsa with the fam.

Hope you chicks are having an awesome day!

Hope everyone had a nice 4th.

I have had a laid back day with just my husband and boys. We usually swim and cookout at the house and go to the fireworks but everyone wanted to relax here and watch a movie. Glad we did because we had a major storm right at firework time .

It is funny to see all the posts about BBQ's . In the south we go to
"cookouts" and eat "BBQ pork"

I have not been watching what I eat this week very much and I put back on 2 pounds.
One problem is my 18 year old that is leaving for college only has a few more weeks here
and he wants all his favorites and of course I make them. They begged me to make my Cowboy
cookies tomorrow.
I am actually back to 144 so I need to change my tracker.
It is discouraging to gain back what I worked so hard for.

I will just have to get back on track!!

Nancy, don't get discourage, just get back on plan and keep trying. We all lose our way now and again and regain some. The thing that will make us all successful is to not let a small gain turn into a huge gain. Losing a few pounds we just gained is eaiser than losing 10 or 20 that have come back. I am in a similar situation. With things lately my eating has gotten out of control. I keep trying and keep trying. My scale is still up about 3 pds from where it was a few weeks ago. 6 years ago I had another loss, before I knew it I had gained 20 pds. I've worked too darn hard to get where I am to do that. Its tough, but I do keep at it. HTH in some way -- at least you know you are not alone with stress eating!

Sloan -- thanks for the corn chip recipe. I made them last night -- I think I made them too thick. They took a long time to cook (almost a 1/2 hour). They were a good texture. I may make them again today but much thinner. How thin did you spread yours out? OOH -- this counts as a new recipe for the challenge!!

Speaking of challenges, thoughts for next week? Food or exercise or a combination???

Nancy, one thing about cookouts/bbq. We always have BBQs but in watching food network, I can't say I have actually every had true barbeque. Our bbq's are grilled foods. Interesting.

Noussa, did you do any celebrating in SA for the July 4th or July 1st? Is the compound you live in a mix of non SA? Courious minds......

Good morning, I totally had a non core day yesterday, I am really impressed by you ladies that stayed op. I had lots of food, sangria, then my sil made frozen strawberry daquiries, but I did have fruit for desert :D.
I had a really good time being with my family and friends.
Lots of clouds here today, was hoping to take the kids to the lake, maybe I can do some exercise in the lake and redeem myself a little :swim:

Doing some laundry this morning, I will catch up with the posts in a little bit, have a great day!

I let the loss of my best friend turn into a 30 pound gain.

I was not all Core yesterday. Today is the beginning of a new week for me. Jim is on the treadmill now and I will get on when he is done.

Good mornin' chicks! Today is a new day-back to core everyone :drill:

Nancy-hang in there! Having a child leave for school is traumatic! I was so sad when my DD left, and now when she is at home I'm ready for her to go! Just make his fav's, use your wpa's, keep posting, and know that you can do this! We'll be here for you. About the cookout, in Tennessee we call them cookouts, too!

Paula-When I made the chips, I used a heaping tsp. and patted them into circles that were about 3 inches in diameter. Mine were still pretty hard when they cooled, but they were not tough. I'm still on a quest to make them have a consistency like "store bought" chips, so I'm going to keep trying. I was wondering how it would work to mix in some grits after the mixture cooled. I'll let ya know how they turn out.

Vickie-How long since your friend passed? Grieving is a long process, but we are here :grouphug:

Chicks, whether you stayed on core yesterday or not, does not matter. Today is a new day! Get it together, start over, and rely on this group to cheer you on! This is the best place to be while on your weight loss adventure!

I let dh losing his job, and starting an ice cream store turn into a 30 pound gain too. :( Sometimes I'm so disgusted with myself, but then I just eat more.

It is so much harder to get motivated to lose it this time around. Last time was fun and novel, and I just can't get the motivation back.

That's my pity party for the day. :p

I'm there too, Angela. Maybe we can crawl out of the sinkhole together. I just got off of the treadmill. I could only do 20 minutes but I've recommitted to doing it every day. I used to be able to do 45 minutes. If I don't do it every day then I make excuses. It is the key, I'm convinced. The healthy eating just isn't enough because I do eat all of my WPA's.

I guess we have to say that Cindy is gone and your store is up and running so we should now refocus on ourselves. Cindy wouldn't want me to be fat and unhappy ever...and certainly not because of her. You wanted a successful business to help provide for your family. I'm sure they'd rather have you happy and healthy than a successful business any day.

I'm really trying hard to be a newbie and get back into the cooking and the recipe search. That was fun for me. Maybe you'd enjoy that too. PM me if you think I can help extra.

Chicks......sorry to be a downer but it's the truth of how we are feeling at the moment.

Hi Ladies:)

Hope every one had a great 4th yesterday. We did we had our BBQ after the AT&T golf tournament.

Had late stay this morning my DH and I watched the Boston Pops Fireworks last night and didn't get up until 9AM. After that breakfast was late and than getting out to the store and get some grocery shopping done. The heat alert for senors was lifted, its a little cooler and my DH was able to breath better.

It looks like it going to down pour soon. That makes it hard for the tourist down for the weekend tomorrow they're predicting thunder storms for the afternoon.

Have this week all covered by planing to stay with 1 pt. goodies & snacks this week, and not using all my WPA's like I did for the first 2 weeks on the Core. Hopefully I'll lose some weight, this week.

I stayed mostly on the core yesterday, but it was our BBQ and all the food where core except for the Hot Dog on Bun[2] and burger on bun[1] the WW ice cream[2].So I used 5 WPA's for yesterday meal. Today I used 1 pt for a fudgsicle.

Hope my plan will work for Thursday W-I.

Hugs :) BB

Vickie and Angela-you are not downers! We all care about you and how you are dealing with your personal issues. Just don't give up and remember to keep posting. You will both be okay; it may just take a while, but we're in for the long haul.

BB-congrats on your mostly core day! Sounds like you are ready to tackle next week, too!

Have a good rest of the day, chicks!

I have just returned from a memorial service for a friend who died one year ago today. It was very moving and funny, as befits my friend. It's also the 29th anniversary of my father's death.

I ate 2 pieces of chocolate cake at the service: one for each of them  They would appreciate that little joke, and they both liked chocolate cake.

Hi all. Vickie, you and I have to meet some time. I did have a small NSV today. I was closing at the store tonight, and instead of just eating a hot dog there (over 8 pts for just the dog), I brought a turkey sandwich and a nectarine, even though I didn't want to take the time to pack it.

I'm off to sleep today. I have to give a lesson at church tomorrow. I'm talking about true conversion - dedicating your life to God. I guess weight loss is kind of like that. You have to give up those little things that aren't good for you in order to get the greater good.

Later!
Angela

Vickie
07-06-2008, 06:13 AM
Great analogy, Angela! And...that was a huge NSV. String a few of them together and we'll be on our way to victory.

I've been up since 4:30 fretting about Jim. It seems his second shoulder surgery did not help. He's back to sleeping in the chair again. He says he's going back to the Doctor in September. Now I need to find out why he's going to wait so long. I fear it's because he wants to wait until the pool is closed and he can carry all the stuff downstairs. I'm sure I can pay someone to do that for us. Sigh.

I need to view the treadmill as stress relief instead of something unpleasant that I don't want to do. I wasn't great yesterday, but I will be today.

Good morning everyone. In reading the post from yesterday, we are all alike in so many ways. We all get detoured by stress and sadness, use food to help us through those times. I'm greatful having found all of you -- its nice to know there is a place I can be completely honest about my eating and weight loss, I know I will only get support and helpful thoughts from you all.

Vickie, sorry to hear about Jim's shoulder. Definatly get him in sooner than later. Why put it off and be in pain. There are pool companies that will help close the pool. Good luck on the treadmill. Try using it as a time for meditation and prayer. When I walk the dog nightly, that is the time when I do alot of thinking and praying to God. Makes the time go by and I do look forward to that me time -- some days its the only me time I get.

Angela, good luck with church today. I am helping with the summer sunday school class next week. It should be intersting. I've never helped with that before -- just with the christmas pagent rehersals. I hope you can find your motivation/dedication with His help.

Well, have a bbq today. My niece, her husband and their dd will be here at noon. I've got a core menu planned - burgers, hotdogs (not for me), buffalo chicken burgers, core baked beans, core pasta salad, grilled shrimp, and green salad. I will have left overs, which is my plan. It will give me lunches for next week.

Well, got to get bfast and then start getting things ready. Have a wonderful day!

Mornin' everyone!

Vickie- I love the idea of viewing the treadmill as stress relief instead of exercise! Also, my DH has had two shoulder surgeries as well, and he says that it has taken a year for him to see full results from the last one. Do you think Jim has given it enough time? I know how hard it is to see him hurting and frustrated! My DH has had a total of 11 surgeries on his joints in the last twenty years, so we are getting to be experts at playing the waiting game. Although he has had so many surgeries, Vance works a 40-50 hour week at a very physical job. There have been many mornings when I have cried after he left for work, because I knew he was hurting but went in anyway. You guys hang in there, and I agree with Paula, encourage him to go on in to see the doc!

Angela-congrats on the NSV! Keep that up, and you'll be on your way!

Paula-have a great time with your family today. It makes it so much easier when you have the menu planned so you can enjoy all of the foods that are being served! I did that for the fourth, and I sailed through the day!

GTG get ready for church. TTFN

His first surgery was June 2006. The last surgery was this past December 4th. I'd be hopeful that he just hasn't waited long enough but it seems to be getting worse. We discussed it this morning. He doesn't want to go in until September because he doesn't want to miss the summer. He says he can last until then. I'm going to respect his wishes but I think I'll cry a little for him in private.

Paula, I'm going to be asking God and everyone else for a lot more help and guidance. I hope I get the assistance and answers that I seek.

Jim is at the grocery store buying stuff for me to make a good Core dinner. I'm going on the treadmill and then we hope to go in the pool around 2:00. I should get more exercise in there.

Vickie-I'll be praying for you. If you don't mind, will you let me know either here or with a pm what I can pray for specifically? I know that God answers prayers and with Him all things are possible!

I've had a pretty good day. I've stayed on core so far, and I'm planning to eat fish, non-starch veggies, and fruit for supper. Also, I'm trying to drink more water this week.

Hope you all have a peaceful evening!

Hello chickies!

I'm back and had a wonderful time. My dbf's brother's family ended up not coming up saturday morning, as planned because he got a chance to work making quadruple overtime because of a bad storm knocking out peoples phone service, broadband, etc(he works for AT&T). So we got to the cabin Wednesday evening and came home Sunday afternoon! It was great!.
I was more core than not. His cabin is on a lake, and about 10 different cabins bought the really good fireworks and we had about a 2 1/2 hour firework show coming in all directions. I think it was the best firework show I've ever seen. So we sat on his dock and had drinks and watched fireworks on the 4th. I did have a smore(only 3 points with the low fat graham crackers, 1 marshmallow and 3 small chocolate squares) and then we went to a nearby town as a close friend of mine moved up there and I haven't seen her and her kids in quite some time. We all ended up eating some deluxe nachos(nothing core about those) but the good thing is I ate until I was satisfied, not stuffed. So, according to my scale, I am only up .6 and I have until Wednesday to get that off. Plus, my last wi, I thought I was going to gain, and I maintained! I was so happy with that.

Angela and Vickie, hang in there and keep posting. You guys are not downers! We all will have things in our life that will affect our eating. None of us are perfect. As long as you pick yourselves back up and start again, then you should be proud of yourselves! At least your trying again.

Sloanie, I can't wait to look at the recipe you have for corn chips. I wil definitely be trying them.

Rhonda, chocolate cake is a must once in awhile. It's funny, my leader always says "Chocolate cake is fine as long as you treat it like a vegetable, and rinse it off before you eat it!" (Just a little ww humor).

Tejas
07-06-2008, 09:52 PM
I LOVE that! Rinse it off?? Not on your life.

I spent the day looking after my godson's 3 year old boy. Need I say more!? I'm tired

He's a good little kid. He's just a bit obstinate, but what the heck, he may need that trait! I hear he's in a little trouble at daycare because he won't do what he's told. A behavioral analyst is observing him. When they ask me, I'll tell them why he's like that

I'm going to bed!

Hi Everyone! I've missed you all! I've been bombarded with houseguests and they're still here! Of course, I've been doing my best, but haven't been sticking to the plan 100%
Anyways, I've decided to stop putting my progress on hold... so, I'm "hard core" again. I've decided to try to go hard core for 6 weeks. I've re-visited my core eating habits over the past month, and even though there is an obvious effort, I haven't been perfect. I've seen results, I've lost about 13 pounds since I began, but I know that I can do so much better!
So, I will start a new thread about this, just to keep me honest. If any of you feel you want to join me on my own personal challenge, jump in! :)
Hope you're all doing great and that you all enjoyed fabulous long weekends, both in Canada and the US!
