I have a 4 1/2 year old son -- Auston. My mother-in-law is in the hospital, so I took Auston to visit her. When we left, he said, "Mom, I've been to this hospital before." I told him that he hadn't. He said, "Yes I have. I was in your belly and I wanted to get out!" He is right! His cousin was born at that hospital when I was 3-4 months pregnant, and I was there when he (the cousin) was born. Is it possible that Auston 'remembers'? He gave me goose bumps!
I am not a specialist, but WOW. Maybe your son is just a miracle child. Umm could he have possibly heard someone talking about you being pregnant when his cousin was born there? if not that is... ummm i dont know what to call it. good luck on your quest for an answer.
Developmental theory would mostly say no, that he was using his imagination and only coincidentally true or drawing on information he's learned or overheard previously.
