You could put the crabmeat in salads. Or you could mix it with FF mayo, FF cream cheese, or FF plain yogurt (whatever you like, or a combination of two of these), some diced celery, some diced red pepper, some Old Bay seasoning, and you have crab salad for sandwiches or wraps.

Another thought would be to cook up a serving of pasta, stir in 1 tbsp cream cheese, grated lemon rind, 1 tbsp lemon juice, sliced green onions, and diced roasted red pepper, then top it with the crab meat.

Cooking Light is also a great source for recipes when you have an ingredient like this that you need to use. Use the enhanced search function, type in "crab" in the search field, select what sort of meal you're looking for (main dish, salad, etc.), and check that you only want recipes from Cooking Light. It will probably come up with more recipes than you can search through.

I have a great recipe for crab cakes that are pretty low calorie. I take them to potlucks and everyone raves about them.

Crab Cakes
2 6-oz cans crab meat, drained
1 cup bread crumbs
4 tbsp finely diced green onion
4 tbsp finely diced red pepper
4 tbsp fat free mayo
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp grated lemon peel
1/4 cup egg beaters

Mix all ingredients together (make sure you dice the onion and pepper as small as possible or the patties will be crumbly). If mix seems dry, add a tbsp or two of skim milk. Form into 18 patties (the patties will be small--only about a tbsp of mix per patty) and bake at 350 for 15 min.

20 calories per patty.

Great recipe Blue- just to take it into a more whole food dimension I use similar seasonings but use nuked potato as the binder instead of bread crumbs. I actually prefer this concept with salmon (even from a can on sale..)

Thanks Barbara! Those crab cakes sound AWESOME! I am going to try the crab salad for tomorrow! mmmm

I recently found canned crab at costco... pretty cheap and its just so low and calories. I made a crab salad sandwich with it and it was so bland... but i like the idea of using cream cheese! I even have a FF herb one!

sotypical: To spice the crab salad up a little further, you could also try adding a tsp of dijon mustard or a tbsp of salsa. Another idea would be to put some fruit in it (apricots might be good, especially if you stuck them under the broiler for a few minutes first).

tommy: potato instead of the bread crumbs is a great idea!
