Default Biking

I am so happy I have been on my bicycle 3x now. It doesn't even feel like exercise-I do get my HR up into the moderate zone at least. Just being outside on a bike trail, riding by a river with my ipod on is therapeutic not work. If I am lucky, I can keep doing this until Nov if the snow holds off.

Me too!! I bought my bike last summer and used it once until this summer. I got some padded bike shorts and those are a gift from above!!! My seat is super comfy, but even with a comfortable seat my butt still got sore...now that I have these shorts...it's heaven!!!

Ah. Riding is the best isn't it?

I'm sort of restricted lately on that. My doctor and personal trainer said I was overtraining and to cut back. I have, but reluctantly. I certainly wasn't overtraining on purpose. I just love love love cycling and honestly didn't realize I was doing it too much.

Ah Ilene, I was riding hard everyday. Whoops! I wasn't doing it to be excessive, I just LOVE it. The last full week I did it I rode over 170 miles, pushing myself on my average speed. I thought I was a speed racer I couldn't understand why I was getting sick, couldn't sleep and was stuck in my weight loss. This was in addition to walking the dog (we walk FAST) and weightlifting.

The doctor and personal trainer both suggested I cut back, I did and lost 7 pounds that week, felt better and slept better.

Duh!

170 miles!!!!
One interesting thing I was really expecting a sore butt- it has always happened in the past at the beginning of the season- not this time I didn't even notice it. Maybe it is because my bike is more of the upright old fashioned style- sort of like the one that Dorothy rides in the Wizard of Oz. It is a new bike but an old style.

One of mine is a new retro Schwinn, more 50's style than Dorothy's. I love it and it has never caused me pain. Any photos to share? I wanna see a Dorothy bike!
