These 2 buckets I am standing next to are 50 pounds each. They contain coconut oil.
That is one hundred pounds of fat.
I was carrying around 2 buckets full of fat on my body!

Lori, this is an awesome visual. And isn't it amazing that we can move at all carrying that much fat around?
I'm just curious though, why do you have 100 lbs. of coconut oil?

Meg

Lori, those buckets are almost as big as you are! :faint:

Congratulations on 100 pounds down!! :congrat:

Wow, that is really amazing to look at it that way. I work in a bakery and we get our shortening in 50 lb. boxes and I keep telling myself -just one more pound and I'll have lost a whole box of shortening! I can't wait until it's two boxes:high:

It's part of our business. Soapmakers use coconut oil, and we sell this to them. Not to mention lifting 50 pound buckets is a great workout ! :lifter:

Holy cow Lori, that is really amazing. And inspiring. Now tell us how you feel if you carry those buckets as you try to go about your day!! I am always amazed at how HARD it is to walk around carrying my daughter up stairs and other places, and she only weighs HALF of what I have lost!!

You have come a long way. Congrats!!

Yes, thanks for the visual. Really does put it in perspective. It's mind boggling in fact. But the above quote REALLY hits home for me. Like, ummm, yeah - no wonder I was always so tired! How true.

It really is amazing that our bodies were able to carry the huge amount of weight many of us have lost. I would struggle to even lift the 80+lbs I've lost never mind walk with it. No wonder everyday activities are so much easier now.

Well done Lori

You look amazing and what a great visual comparison!! I always compare my weight loss to my kids. I'll say "I've lost a whole Jordanna!" (daughter) or "I've almost lost 3 Eriks!" (son). It's amazing, since my DS is heavy to carry around!!

This is amazing. :D You look great and so happy, as you should be!

Now, imagine walking around carrying those 100 pound boxes all day; you would get quite a workout!

I did something similar to what I just described a few months ago: I walked up and down the stadium stairs and worked out with a 50 pound vest. It really put things into perspective.

I was in the grocery store the other day and I lifted a 10 lb bag of potatoes in our cart. My DH's favorite food is white potatoes! He's all Irish! Anyway, I said to him someday when I have lost all of my weight I want to return to the same grocery store, gather together a bunch of produce guys (gals?) and have them hold all of the bags of potatoes I was carrying around on my body then I am going to have a photo taken of that.

Remember when Oprah brought out that red wagon full of animal fat to demonstrate her weight lose at the time. It really brings it home, doesn't it???

How could we have been so unloving to our bodies to have put them through all of this???

Again, thanks for sharing, and congrats on the 100 lb weight lose!

Hello all, haven't been on here in a while, too busy eating everything that doesn't move put of my reach. And do I feel any better? NO. ACK...everything feels too small, even my underwear!!!!!
I got my 2nd shipment of NS, and am starting tomorrow to do this once and for all.
Also made kind of a silly purchase, a dog stroller. I have two very small dogs, and figured this way I can walk them a few blocks until they get tired, and then keep going until I get tired! Fresh air and exercise for everybody in the family.
Lori, congratulations girlfriend! I am so proud of you, and hope you treated yourself to a spa day or new clothes or something fabulous.
Nightengale, good for you! I'm a former gator, and can just see you sprinting up that stadium.
Please cheer me on everybody to get my butt in gear, eat on the NS program only, and get some exercise. I am completely miserable doing what I am doing now.

Part of my personal plan has been to sneak in extra exercise whenever possible. I park as far from the door of the store as possible (think Clark Griswald in the Vacation Movie) If I have 4 bags or less I carry them out to the car rather than push them in a cart. If I have to go upstairs for something at home, I walk up, turn around walk down and back up. Be careful doing that though, sometimes I forget what I went up for!!

ANYHOW...one day last week I went to Walmart for dog food. I parked at the way back of the parking lot. I was kind of pressed for time so all I got was a 50 pound bag of dog food. I had to nearly fight off the checker at the register she wanted so badly for me to put it in a cart. I carried the 50 pound bag of dog food out tot he car. I couldn't believe how heavy it was!!! I got in the car and thought Good Gawd...I have lost 60 pounds...I used to carry more than around with me in everything I did. When I reach my goal I will have lost THREE 50 pound bags of dog food. When I get to goal...I am going to buy three 50 ound bags of dog food and carry them out to the car just to see what a difference it makes!!

Thank you so much -- that picture is awesome!! Visuals are so helpful -- just curious, can you pick both of those up at one time? I always wonder -- we can carry 100 extra pounds on our bodies but the fact that our muscules won't allow us to carry this amount of weight around with our arms should tell us something!

You have done a truly amazing job -- thanks for the inspiration!!!:carrot:

Hee, I do this too. I have lost a Gabbie and am closing in on an Anthony one day. Funny thing is when I put Gab on my back and try to climb the stairs I can hardly make it now. But a year ago, I was carrying a small ten year old around with me everywhere I went!

Well - actually I can pick one up by the handle in each hand. :lifter: I can carry them about 10 feet or so, but that is about it. It's exhausting LOL!
I wonder if I could lift both pails stacked.... hmmmm... don't think I'll try that!

Wow! Lori and Meg, your stories are awesome and gives me the encouragement to keep going.

I recently started on my lifestyle change June 20th and found this website last week. Reading your blogs and stories help me realize that I am doing something right! I have lost 20 pounds so far! I exercise 2 times a day and eat lean meats and veggies. Giving up sweet tea was probably the most difficult part, but now I have NO desire to drink anything but water!

Thanks for your posts!

I hope to be 100 lbs lighter by Christmas 2009. I'm down 9 lbs...so, I'm almost 10% there.
Thanks for the pictures. Guess I need to take some, so someday I can encourage someone the way you encouraged me today.

Congratulations, you look fantastic!

I'm one of those who's working on losing dog food - mine comes in 10kg sacks, and my aim is to lose 5.5 sacks by Christmas 2009.

I've lost nearly 1.5 sacks since I first began, of which .6 of a sack since my January re start.

I can easily shoulder one bag from the supermarket to the car but it definitely weighs me down and I wouldn't like to walk far! Oy, what we do to ourselves.....
