Happy ST Pattys! I made some Corn beef and Cabbage for dinner. Its was very yummy! Found a very Lean corn beef that was really good 2 points for 4 ounces. Have left overs, so I can make a quick dinner.
Maria: The parade sounded like a good one. The Opal sounds beautiful. I love opals. Bet your DH will really love the ring once you get it made.
Peggy Thanks for sharing that site. So sad seeing those pictures. And the devistation that it caused. :(
Had to laugh at the shoes. You must have been quite a site.
Suprise! I got the picture of Anns quilt and put it up for you to see.
Thanks Lily the quilt looks great! What a lot of work Anne you must be very proud of the final result, very impressive indeed.
Lily mentioning about Peggy's shoes, I meant to say in my earlier post that I once did the exact same thing, except one shoe was red and the other navy blue!!! I had to go and pick someone up from the bus depot early in the morning and did not want to wake dh, what a fluke to pick a 'right' and a 'left' shoe. The shoes were identical other than the colour :D . I ended up going barefooted, not a pretty sight either but better than 2 different colours.
The other thing I did today was, I have booked for dh and I to do a 2 day course in basic 4x4 wheel driving and a 2 day advanced course. We will be doing it late May and early June. We have been talking about it for the past 2 years so now we are going to actually do it:D .
See ya all tomorrow
Cheers

Ann your quilt is beautiful. How long did it take you to make it? I bet you are going to surprise us all and make us one too.:D I will be waiting and checking my mail every day until it comes.:smug: Lily thanks for posting the picture. It is fun to see everyone's talents.

Ann the quilt is lovely. I know from the little bit of experience I have in quilting how long it takes. I also will be keeping an eye out for the UPS truck for when they deliver "my" quilt. How long do you think I'll have to wait, for you to just "whip" it up for me. LOL LOL :D
Well done Ann!
Lily thanks so much for posting the picture for us. I simply must learn what you do when you can direct us to a site by simply saying "Ann's Quilt". I know you tried to tell us some time back, but I couldn't work it out. When you get a minute would you try telling me again. Thanks Lily. I'll be back later today. Bye now. :?:

Maria: That sounds like a lot of fun! Didnt know they had classes in 4x4 wheel driving. Would be great to do in Australia. I have done lots of silly things in my life, but shoes arent one of them! :)
Peggy: Good idea! I think Ann owes us all one!!!!!! Kinda like the tree skirt we never got ALAS
Slavika: When you are replying, right below the Colors and fonts you will see a gray button that has http:// on it
Click on it and a box comes up it asks you to put in words for the link thats where I put Ann's Quilt. Click OK. Then another box come up and asks you to put in the URL for the site. Just type it in or copy and paste it in. Then click oK and its there!
Ann: You really must of put alot of work into that quilt. I will be waiting for mine to arrive! UPS comes by everyday at work so I will be asking him if he has it. :D Its cold today so I sure could use it. ;)
Later!

Ann, you are going to have such a fun evening tonight! Good luck at WW today. I was so impressed with your beautiful quilt. WOW! I, like the others, will be anxiously awaiting my new quilt, but ALAS! Slavika, haven't received my Christmas tree skirt yet. Maybe it got lost in the mail.
Slavika - I do believe you've got it! Think that bathroom will be just beautiful. And to think it started with just a little leak!
Maria - I think security is taking a lot of the fun and convenience out of life lately. I hate the thought that our grandchildren will be so regimented because of security. Sounds like your dh hit the jackpot on his birthday!
We had an interesting anniversary, actually just wonderful! Our son and his wife just bought a house. They were moving this weekend so we knew we would have our grandsons over the weekend. Joel had called and said he would bring them Saturday morning, but then Friday night he called and sounded so stressed. Asked if we could meet them halfway right away. Of course, we were glad to. Joel and Shanna were comically stressed out so we took our babies to save them. On Saturday we went to Wal-Mart (where else?), ate at McDonald's, went to see "Ice Age" (which is great!) and played Chicken Foot (a dominoes game). We had so much fun! Then we went to church Sunday and took them home. We helped Joel clean the old house. When I mentioned what a wonderful anniversary we had, they about died. Had forgotten it, but we are so spoiled that we almost celebrate all the time and just enjoyed the grandsons so much and being able to help our son.
Hope everyone has a great day! What is with the weather? We are cold again too.

Lily: thank you so much, and to all of you thanks for the kind words. But can you wait for years? It took me two years and a lot of mistakes to get this one finished. But I am going to try another one before too long. Got GD that will get married and one of those would make a nice gift.
Gkenda: Nice Anniversary. Kids are a joy.
This is just a quickie, since it will soon be time to ge getting ready for the show. Our Dress Rehearsal went fairly well, still a mistake or two, but we aren't professionals and we are in it for the fun.
My weigh-in wasn't good, up 1# but not as bad as I had thought.
Just got to get on the ball.

Well what a day, our server was down all day and was unable to get on the net or e-mail:( . It had better not happen too often otherwise I should have to look for another job:D
It is 6 pm and I should be getting dinner but just had to check the posts.
Glenda what a lovely anniversary you had. When I hear you all talk of your grandchildren, I do feel a little left out. I never thought I would hear myself say that:dizzy: It will be a little while before I will be having grandchildren, sounds like it will be worth waiting for.
Anne You are going to be busy with all those quilts;) Pleased you were happy with your weigh in.
Hi to everyone else, better go and get some food ready:)
See ya tomorrow (I hope)

Our musical banquet is just a memory now. It was a great success, and well received by the audience. We all had a 'fun' time. Now a chance to relax, and get back on my exercise schedule.
Maria: How dreadful that you had a whole day with no internet service at all. I would certainly check out a new job if that unpleasantness continues.:D::D::D: I'm glad I have a few years to finish granddaughters quilts. Since not one is yet engaged, and two of them are still in grade school, I think I am safe for awhile.
This has to be short this a.m. as we are going to a health screening soon, having carotid arteries checked. We have a program called LIfeLine Screening. The company comes to our location, sets up their portable equipment, and can test for Carotid arteries, Abcominal aneurism, Venal circulation in the legs, and a check for osteoporosis. All much cheaper than if done at hospital, and then their reports go to your Dr. if anything is found that needs more followup. 2 years ago, with one of these tests I found I have osteoporosis. We have had several friends who found they needed surgery on the Carotid arteries, to avoid a stoke. So-it is really a good thing.
Hi all. See you later. Ann

Hi Everybody
I received a new recipe for muffins yesterday from my friend who is still in Maui (lucky lady). I made them this morning to serve at Tea Time today and had one for breakfast. I think they are very good.
TROPICAL MUFFINS
1 pkg (3oz) Lite cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 egg
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cup sour cream
2 cans (8oz each) crushed pineapple, drained
1/4 cup flaked coconut
1/4 to 1/2 cup sliced almonds (just 3 or 4 on top of each muffin)
In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar and extracts until smooth; stir in egg.
Combine flour, baking soda and salt;
Add to the creamed mixture alternately with sour cream, just until moistened
Fold in pineapple and coconut
Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups three-fourths full.
Sprinkle with almonds.
Bake 350 for 25 minutes or until muffins test done.
Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks
Yield: 1 1/2 DOZEN for a total of 49 points.
I think each muffin works out to about 2.7 points each.
***NOTE: the recipe is correct, it does NOT contain baking powder or added fat. I baked mine in paper-lined cups and sprayed a shot of Pam on the inside of each paper cup. I thought they might be difficult to remove from the paper liners but they came out beautifully. :)
If you try them, let me know what you thought. "Talk" to you all later.

G'day all,
Back on line this morning and good morning to everyone!
I brought in my laptop to do some 'stuff' (like organising the wedding photos in a PowerPoint Presentation;) ) but I am glad the system is up and running again. Looking for a new job is now firmly back on 'hold' again:D
Slavika The muffins sound great, another recipe I will file away for when I am home again.
Ann Pleased to hear your 'musical banquet' was a great success. What an excellent thing to do getting all those potentially lethal conditions checked. As you may remember I had my cholestral and blood pressure tested with a similar service, yours is much broader.
Do you find quilting a little 'compulsive'?? I do a lot of cross stitch and it takes forever but then when it is finished, I just feel I 'have' to do another:dizzy:
Peggy now that the testing is almost finished, what are you going to spend your fee on??? Hope you decide on something really nice for yourself.
It is another very hot day here but overcast which makes it so humid:( .
I had a call from friends last night that will be over at Easter and they asked for me to book to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Not sure if I will bother, it is very expensive, $190 per person and I get the same view from my office window, and I get there by lift:D
We are going to have quite a busy April with visitors. Really looking forward to the kids coming
Will check in a bit later
Cheers

A nice restful night. Just a chance to not have to run around.
Glenda: I like Chicken foot too. Do you play that if you get left with the double blank, it counts 50 points against you? Some do, some don't. We also like to play Mexican Train. That is a fun dominoe game too.
Maria: Glad you were back on line today.
Peggy: I bet you are glad to be nearly finished with your testing experience. That fee will be really appreciated, I bet.
Slavika: Copied your recipe. It sounds very good. Will try it soon when I get the right ingredients.
Going to turn in early for me, tonight. See y ou all tomorrow. Ann

Im allergic to Vit D in pills. Need help in finding ways to get it in. I do all the other stuff 1500 ml in calcuim a day. I really could use some of your expertise here. Help??? Anyone? :(
Im at a loss. I know it wont happen over night. But In scared. Really thought I was doing it all right. Guess not :(
Could really use some help from all here.

Lily sorry to hear about the results of your test but........aren't you glad you have found out now and you can do something about it.:)
It is almost time to go home but I will make it my priority tomorrow to find some web sites for you dealing with this problem and any alternatives to Vit D.
Another thing, a friend of mine in Adelaide has also been diagnosed as being susceptible to osteoperosis and she takes prescription medicine every day. The reason it is on prescription is because it is very expensive, if you get it on prescription it is considerably less, government subsidises it.
Something you may want to chat to your doctor about.
Look out for the info tomorrow.........
Take care and cheers
Maria
PS Here is one site that I just quickly found and looked of interest

Hi Everybody
Once again it's Wednesday and I am going to go out with my freind for lunch/shopping. I have a list of some "very" exciting purchases to make. For example, a new towel bar, LOL :D, bathroom light fixture. Things of that sort. I had the "man" out on Monday to measure the bathroom for the flooring and give me a price. I said fine, how long will it take to get the flooring in and the bathroom fixtures and he said, likely one week to 10 days. :(
I just hate when everything takes so long.
I didn't go to WW yesterday, and I know this is not a good thing. I haven't done anything about getting this holiday weight off. I better smarten up and do something positive like getting back to meetings. Ann good for you for going back, and it sure wasn't too bad for you. :) It sounds like your "Musical Banquet" was a great success. Maybe your group, could put on a "Mystery Night Dinner" much like the one that Glenda went to. I think actually my son bought a "mystery game" and he and his wife had a mystery party at their home. You could all come up with costumes appropriate for your characters. LOL :D.
Lily sorry my friend that I can't be of help to you. My knowledge is so very limited about vitamins. :?: Maria I don't think I understand. Did you mean that to go "on" your bridge you have to pay $190.00? I know for sure I got that wrong. LOL LOL Peggy I'm happy for you that your current "testing" is almost over. Maybe the next thing will be more interesting. :)
I better get going around here. Picture this.........little "all most old" silver haired gal (with hair sticking up every which way) in a soft knit white nightie with blue faded flowers (from being washed a thousand times) sitting at her computer like she has all the time in the world. LOL, Maybe don't picture it. See you all later. Hope you all have a nice day. P.S. The muffins were a hit at Tea Time yesterday.

Lily: Did they tell you Osteopenia? I have that in hips , but they tell me osteoporosis in my spine. I did every thing I was supposed to also, and I was told that sometimes heredity plays a part too.
I upped my calcium beyond 1500, Dr. is having me use Miacalcin, a nasal spray, and it has helped. My multiple vitamin has Vit. D. in it, and I also take something called Bone Health, which I get through Quixstar. It has Vit. D. So those two won't be of use to you. I also take Evista, instead of HRT. That is also suppossed to help increase bone density. Of course they keep telling me I don't need to take extra Vit. D because of the FL Sunshine:D: but I have read that when a person gets over"39":D: our body doesn't absorb Vit. D as well. Can you drink Vitamin and Calcuim enriched O.J.? Does it still bother you if the D is a part of a daily multiple Vit.? I also drink something called NutriJoint, and it has Calcium in it.
Hope you can find a good solution. Keep us posted.
Slavika: Like your Mystery idea. I'll have to think how we can do something like that with a big group of participants.
Maria: Checked that site, and copied it down, because I think there is a lot of information there that I need. Thanks for your magic fingers.:D:

Hi Ladies, Maria you will be so proud of me. I am taking some of the money and am GOING SHOPPING. I want a $300 dress for $30. Kidding aside we are going to 2 weddings in the next couple of weeks and I need something springy. With the goofy weather around here I want something with a jacket. So tomorrow is the day. Lily I am sorry to hear about the osteo. I can't help much but my oncologist said to do exercise especially anything weight bearing. Do you walk? Get some light weights and try doing a little exercise at home. I am sure Maria will find some good info for you. Slavika your nightie sounds comfy. I get the picture. Bye for now,

Chicken Foot sounds like a good game. I have never heard of it. We have some friends who like to play games of all sorts, I will have to look into this one.
Lily I have Osteoporosis in lower spine and hip. My Dr put me on HRT and I drink 3 8-oz of milk every day. I work out with weights and do aerobics and walk the track. I have a small bone frame (under all this padding  ) and it is also a heridity thing in my family. It didn't help that I did a lot of stupid dieting years ago. I am supposed to be tested again to see if all this is making any difference, I still don't know. It certainly is a pain in the neck.
Peggy I am sure you will work wonders with the $300.00... lucky you. Pick out something really special.
Slavika Those muffins were the best! :D Just loved them.
Ann I had no idea there were so many things to get the calcium level up.
Glenda I know I am terribly late with this, but I hope you and your DH have another great year together. Happy Belated Anniversary.
Maria Maybe you should take the visitors up in your elevator... don't think I would want to make the climb either.
I have had DSL Internet problems, ... AGAIN! Today an actual living breathing person came out to my house. He put in a new modem, new filters on all the phones and a new filter on the alarm system.. I sure hope this solves my problems. I just hate making a change to a new server, but if this doesn't do it I guess I will to go cable.
Have a great day all..

G'day all,
Well it has happened, I have turned 57 today, I am still 56 at your end of the world:D :(
Dh left on a very early flight this morning to Melbourne and it is doubtful that he will get back tonight for a birthday dinner, the flight control people are going on strike for 5 hours, throwing all departing and arriving flights in total chaos:( Goodness knows when he will get back.
We went out to dinner with some business associates, one man from Atlanta Georgia. I was fascinated by the way he spoke, I thought that southern drawl was more country type people. He actually lives 40 minutes outside of Atlanta. He didn't have too many good things to say about Atlanta:?: Another chap from Hong Kong, one from London, dh Australian and me. It was an interesting night.
Slavika As you probably know the Sydney Harbour Bridge is a huge steel arch (the coathanger, as it is affectionately known) and to walk over the bridge is indeed free but to climb the arch is where the money comes in  You are provided with a very 'attractive' boiler type suit, a helmet, not allowed to take any cameras, bags etc. and you go into group of tens with a guide.
I have a lovely picture in my mind of you sitting at your computer, sounds nice and relaxing. I am bit like you, once I make up my mind to buy or do something, I want it NOW!!!!!
Peggy Don't we all want a $300 outfit for $30:D :D Good luck with your hunt for something nice, let us know what you got.
Ann Your information is probably useful to Lily , I am glad the site I posted you found interesting. I will look for some more info today. Have fun at your luncheon and fashion show.
Trudy What a pain with your computer, hopefully it is solved now and you have no further problems. Interesting you also have some problems with osteoporosis. It makes me think I must get a bone density test done. I cannot take HRT because of having had breast cancer, I don't take any other type of supplements either. The only thing I do consistantly is walk for excercise. I have done some weights and have quite liked that but then I pull a muscle or something and it puts a stop to it. Since being here, I have tried to swim more regularly seeing there is a 25 meter pool here but I have a lot of trouble with getting water in my ears despite wearing ear plugs and then of course, the constant washing of my hair and blow drying it, it is ok for dh, he hardly has any hair:D
I'll be back later with some useful sites on osteoporosis, I hope.
Cheers

Peggy - I can't take HRT either because supposedly my ovarian cancer was hormone-induced. So, I also have osteopenia. Last year about this time I started in on a regimen--no caffeine, first, then walking and weights, then cut out nicotine and have done Fosamax at the 10 ml dose. Lily, you can take the 5 mlg dose as a prevention. Ask your doctor about this. You take one pill a week, in the morning, first thing, no water or anything for 30 minutes. Soon will have another bone density test to see if it has done anything. Lily, I also take extra calcium in a chocolate chew which is kind of like candy and it has vitamin d in it also. You know for sure you can't take vitamin d?
Ann, yes, we play chickenfoot where if you are left with the double blank, you are stuck with 50 points.
All, we have to make a trip tomorrow to Arkansas for my uncle's funeral. You remember the uncle we have visited a few times (we, meaning my brother, sister, and spouses). He died after a heart attack Tuesday morning. We are all so sad but so happy we made the effort to go visit him 3 times this year. We had such good times. I hate going back for his funeral. We were just there 5 weeks ago and would never have thought he would be gone so soon, but I can't help but think he was blessed because he would have had to go from assisted living to a nursing home. We will just miss him so much! He is the last one on my mother's side. Of the 7 kids, they are all together now.
Be careful! Will talk to you all when we get back next Monday.
