Default Will they go away?

My stretchmarks pretty much cover my entire abdominals, my back, my sides, and my thighs. Just wondering, as I lose weight..will they go away? or at least become less noticable? I hope...

I've never known stretchmarks to go away... once the skin is stretched... it's stretched.

And... unfortunately, the appearance of my stretchmarks is actually a little worse now that I've lost weight. Only because they were faded and spread out before. Now that my skin is a little saggier, they show up more.

That being said, I'd rather a few saggy stretchmarks than a hundred extra pounds.

How long have you had them? Stretch marks tend to fade over time once they are stabilized. I don't mean to frighten you, but mine actually appear MORE noticeable to me. I can shrink, but stretch marks can't, so now they appear longer than before. They didn't get dark again or anything, but swear I didn't have that many before (I did). But you know what? I really don't care. Having stretch marks is one of those things that you notice wayyyy more than others and just about everyone has them. And besides, if you are losing weight, you'll feel to darn good to care, right?

Yeah what Faerie said. I actually notice my stretch marks more right now because the skin on my tummy is a little saggy ... so they wrinkle up quite nicely.

OTOH, they do fade some (not completely) over time and you can help minimize the appearance of them by moisturizing and taking care of your skin.

There was a time when stretch marks bothered me........but now, as I lose the weight and I do notice them more, I don't seem to mind as much as I once did. I consider them battle wounds. I am fighting a good fight!

I have them as well. All over my abdomen and hips I have the small whitish ones. And on the backs of my arms I have large dark ones. I've stopped caring about them, really. They won't go away on their own but there are a few products out there that help. Avon has Anew Clinical Stretch Mark cream that is supposed to fade old AND new stretch marks. I have a bottle of Strivectin SD that I forgot about for awhile and just started using again. Doesn't do me much good if I don't remember to put it on! Strivectin is REALLY pricey though.

I dont think they go away, but with my experience, having a tan makes them less noticeable...and just makes you feel better.

I think once you have stretch marks you must learn to live with them!!I know mine look different...thats becasue with my weight loss they kinda have that deflated balloon look.My daughter is 18 and thin size6 and has them on her thighs and backs of her calves from working out .

I notice mine but I don't think anyone else does. There are a lot of skin lotions and vitamins that have really faded mine, maybe you could look into that if they really bug you.

Come to think on it...i seem to notice that i have more stretch marks too (like they haven't been there all along...hahaha). But i don't really seem to care. No one but me or my honey see them anyways...and when he's looking, he ain't looking at those!!! hahaha. But, i'd rather have stretch marks than fat. So, i don't really mind them that much. What bothers me more are the varicose veins i have. Hoping to get those taken care of as the year goes by. Then, i'll feel really good about my physical appearance.

But don't let stretch marks bother you. Once you lose the weight, you won't care about those silly things either.

A friend of mine used *scar cream* on hers, & they are WAY less noticeable.

I don't have stretch marks, so I can only go by others' stretch mark tales, anyway. Now if you have some cellulite problems, I'm all about the tales! and tails...
