Default 2 weeks and counting!!!

Two weeks from today I will be having my surgery! 6/25 is the official date! I am so excited and nervous for many reasons.

My doctor didn't want me to gain weight and in the past month I've put on roughly 10 pounds. Now I need to dedicate myself to losing at least 5 of that so that he will go through with the surgery. I can't believe I let that happen!!! Granted I am bloated today so I am hoping that the damage isn't as bad as the scale actually indicated.

My sister taught me how to cook fish and gave me some good recipes. I am going to try to eat tons of fish before and after the surgery since it's so healthy. I am ready to be healthy, the bad foods are not even appealing to me anymore which is a relief.

Wish me luck!

Default Good For You!!

Go into this surgery with a plan and I think things go much easier!!! But, I have noticed a big difference in my taste buds, can't judge salt anymore, and the things that I like before surgery, some of it is just yucky now!! I'll take all the fish recipes that you have. I'm not a good fish preparer because: 1. I live in Ohio and most fish is frozen, old, farm-raised and cost a lot of money. 2. I've cooked beef, pork and chicken for 40 years. 3. I don't like fishy fish. Someone suggested that I go to ALDIs and found Orange Roughy for 5.99 and 6.99 a pound. I do like orange roughy. They also have salmon and tilapia at a much lower cost and not suppose to be farm-raised. I swear with all the farm raised shrimp I eat, I'm gonna grow a third eye!!! LOL! Good luck my dear.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys!!!

Nanj - I don't like fishy fish either. I like the white flaky fish such a chilean sea bass (very light and has a natural buttery taste when cooked) as well as tilapia and orange roughy. The tilapia tends to be really affordable at my grocery store and I can buy the others frozen. I actually had a chef tell me that the frozen fish is actually fresher than the other fish because they literally freeze it on the boat and most "fresh" fish had been frozen in transport.

Here is an easy recipe...
sprinkle olive oil and brown both sides of fish (sprinkly with lemon pepper before)
pour in some white wine
put in the juice of one lemon
pour about half a cup of marinara sauce
simmer

It's super yummy. I buy the 4-pack of cheap white wine so it doesn't go bad.
