(Wow, I've never broken a bone :) But I've had my fair share of unlucky health issues).

No, I'm a lefty but have ambidextrous tendencies (use scissors, eat, bowl, golf, throw, play guitar with my right hand), but not truly ambidextrous, which I think requires equal good use of both hands.

TPBM has been snow skiing and water skiing and likes both!

HarpoChicoGroucho
06-27-2008, 01:44 AM
No, I've been skiing on snow and I hated it (but I was a terribly overweight and non-athletic kid so I'd need to give it another go) -- I'm not sure about water skiing though -- I'd love to try.

snapless
06-29-2008, 08:56 PM
I wish. A gallon of paint (in Japan) starts at around $50 a gallon...and the price just goes up. Oh, and you can only get premixed colors (which consists of about 15 different shades of white), the store doesn't mix. So my walls are the dull offwhite they were when we moved into this rental house. One of the things I am SO looking forward to moving back to the states for - being able to paint my house....well, and owning my house too.

snapless
06-30-2008, 08:40 PM
Yes, many years ago (not that I had much to bare back then) when I was still thin. I liken it to the onsens (public baths) in Japan. As my (Japanese) sister-in-law said once to me, "In Japan, nudity is often seen but never noticed."

If you were to walk down a street full of dressed people and you were topless, people would probably stare. However, on a beach where everyone is? You're just another person.

TPBM can speak more than one language fluently.

WebRover
06-30-2008, 09:18 PM

Nope, no pets at all until we move back. The time and expense (quarantine, kennel while under quarantine, etc.) to move pets from Japan is crazy, and I have no desire to adopt an animal only to turn around and get rid of it. I did have some fish once but...there was an accident involving a Japanese fish tank heater. :o

TPBM doesn't drive on "drinking" holidays.

snapless
07-04-2008, 09:14 PM
I haven't been in the US in years during a "drinking holiday", and here people just do not drink and drive.

first offense: car impounded, huge fine, 6 month driving suspension, plus whatever the military tacks on for military members (varies from case to case)
second offense: car possessed by government, huge fine, jailtime, you lose your license permanently, plus whatever the military tacks on.

Yes we get the occasional stupid person who does and loses their license for 6 months but I've yet, in the 4.5 years I've been here, known, read of or heard of anyone who did it a second time. And since all police activity is published in the local paper... :p

However if I were in the US I'd definitely stay at home on Memorial Day, New Year's, and all the other 'drinking' holidays.
