Well . . . it's morning again and 3FC seems nice and stable . . . :yay: . . . So here it is again -- a new home for chatting this month. Not every month you get two fresh starts, gang so let's all make the most of it and have a great an OP kind of month . . . :carrot:

BTW . . . I know that Ellen always started with a set format for the month, but I'm a little more casual about stuff . . . if you want to continue to follow that format of discussing certain things on certain days; go for it. But if you'd rather just wing it; that's fine too. :D

Once I get my other 3FC 'rounds' done, I'll be back to re-enter some of the new "expansion plans" threads again . . . See you later. :carrot:

Oh . . . BTW . . . I just noticed that the tickers have reset back to May 23 numbers as well . . . so, if you haven't done so already, yours might need an update -- know mine does. ;)

Hey everyone..It crapy what happened to the servers..But yes--here we are again!!!

I had a pretty decent week. I didn't actually try. I did have a few minor set backs with some gold fish one day and 1 to many 70% choc bars. But other than not bad. We even went out for chinease food last night and it was all you can eat. I started with the green beans and aspagrgus (sp) and chix w/ broc. I had the middle of one crap rangoon and 1 spring roll. only a few bites of ice cream and 2 puff pastries. That is amazing for me. usually I am bring on the food.

I am doing a 30 hour over night babysitting marathon starting at 1 today until 7 pm tomorrow night. I have more food packed than i will need but I anted to make sure i was good because Monday Is going to be a big cheat day..Happy Birthday to me on Monday.

I am hoping the weekend will go well. If I wasn't moving out in July I am not sure if I would have worked my entire birthday weekend--But the money is going to be great so why not!!!

It's going to be 90 here this weekend so I hope the kids and I can do some fun stuff but also stay cool!!!!!

Enjoy the weekend everyone and I'll check back on Monday!!!

:bday2you: GYM~~ Just in case I get busy and forget! Your weekend sounds like fun. Last Sunday I had Emily my GD who is almost 4, 2 great nieces, ages 2 and 9 and a great nephew who is 4. It was so hot here so we played in the blowup pool :swim:and had a picnic:hungry: followed by popsicles! It was a good day and I was dead by the end of it! I hope your b'day is a great one for you!

Happy Birthday to GYMRAT . . . you sweet young thing . . .

Good Morning to everybody else . . . :grouphug: . . . and especially BOB who now realizes she needs to post more often to keep 3FC from wallowing in disaster.

Dull and kind of 'muggy' around northern Nova Scotia this morning although it isn't overly warm. Just strange. :dizzy: Hope everybody else is getting good weather for their Sunday activities.

Decided to wait until tomorrow to write up some of the information that went into melt-down heaven -- about the 'expansion' theory -- since the site is usually busier on the weekdays and more poeple will notice. Bottom line, if the truth be known, I'm still worn out from the stress and the playing catch-up in all the other places around here that have been needing attention too.

Anyway try to keep things moving and shaking today . . . see you all soon . . . :carrot:

Good Sunday Morning to all,
I hope you get some rest today Meowee! I can't imagine what the last few days have been like for you. It is hot :flame: here too, going to 96 today and the heat index will be over 100...summertime in Alabama! I am eager to hear more about this expansion!
So happy to see you BOB! I have been wondering where you were! :mag: I hope you enjoyed your movies!
I sure hope the "others" find there way here! I miss you guys!

Happy Sunday all.... Its been a nice quiet week end here. We grilled little steaks last night. But I messed around and had fries with it instead of my sweet potato. I've found out everytime I eat anything fried from the fry daddy makes me sick. So I'm paying for being lazy. I'm craving something healthy now. You'd think I'd learn.

GYM- I think we might need Bob to send the wagon around and us get back on it. Sure hope it goes good for you with babysitting. Thats so great you've packed your food. Good thinking girlfriend..... Oh and I'm sorry I missed your birthday.... So Happy Late Birthday...

Peggy- Wow great day with the kids. They must have had a ball. Ouch on the 100 degrees. We're supposed to be 90 today in Missouri.

Bob- The board always lights up when you're here. Sounds like you have a busy day planned along with a night filled with movies. Hope you enjoyed.

meowee- Sounds like you deserve a rest. I can't imagine the load you've been doing. Can't wait to hear about the expansion.

Well I'm off and running...

 Did you know TONI that the GI for a potato's worth of French Fries is actually lower (by a tiny little bit) than the GI for the same amount of potato when it's baked? Sounds great so long as you don't think about the fact that the calories are probably quadrupled at the same time.

You know I want to just kick myself to those fries. It wouldn't be so bad but I had sweet potatoes sitting right there.

Hi! New here today. Back on SugarBusters after a 3 year fat fest! Tried WW the past year and quit - SOOO hard not eating unless I count every point. And I hated all the sugar. Loving reading all about you - first time I've ever tried to be a part of a group (forum??) You all seem to be next door neighbors and best friend! How fun. Been back on SB fro 2 weeks now and doing great. I LOVE this diet!

Good Morning Chickadees . . . :grouphug:

:welcome: BUNNYB . . . so glad you found us. . . . and as Peggy mentioned, your timing is great since you missed our infamous June 6 "meltdown".

Low GI is a wonderful way of eating for controlling those horrible blood sugar swings for everybody not just diabetics like PEGGY and me. Don't forget to have a look at the FAQ sub-forum and the RECIPES sub-forum -- amazing pile of information available in there.

Great big  for everybody who has yet to appear this morning -- we are thinking of you.

Good afternoon everyone. Can't believe Steve let me sleep in so late today. I'm all messed up now and will play catch up all afternoon. We didn't eat our pork tenderloin yesterday so I'll have to make it for dinner. Getting ready to go in and make lunch. I know I'm boring today.....

Bunny-:welcome3: I'm so glad you're here. Tell us about you. I think you'll really love it here.

GYM-:bday2you: Now have I got that right? Hope your babysitting went well.

Peggy- Hope you're getting your AC fixed today. Did you sleep cool enough last night?

Hi Ladies,

Wow, so many new faces, that is wonderful. :welcome: Sorry I haven't been around much. This golf tournament is keeping me so busy. It is next Monday so pray for good weather and we raise a lot of money. I will be back Monday on a regular basis. Eating has been pretty good. The scale is moving down. I am back in the 170's (barely) so I was up to 191 so that is good. I haven't seen much difference in my clothes and that I what I desparately need. Walking every morning and some evenings if it is not too hot. Hopefully next week I can get back to the gym on a regular basis and get back on track fully.

Sorry no time for replies. Next week I promise. Glad to see we have a new moderator. Thanks Meowee.

Gym, Happy belated birthday :balloon: :hat: Hope it was a good one.

Toni, Bob, I have missed you.

To all the newbies :welcome:

See you Monday.

Morning all, So many nice welcomes. You girls obviously stay busy. I'll try to figure out how to do the profile. And I LOVE all the colorful pretties on your messages - I want to learn to do that!!!
Didn't do very well yesterday - I know I can eat so many wonderful foods on SB and every now and then I blow it and overeat some of them. BREAD! Yesterday I ate half the bag of whole wheat pita chips. SOOO good and even though I know they are legal I also know that many of them is bad. Back on it this morning!
Hubby left for work so I'm going to try to figure out how to work this new Pilates DVD. I'm as good with a video or dvd player as I am with this computer.
Hope all of you have a great day. Will check in later. BunnyB

Good Morning . . .

Wowee . . . don't know what has happened to my morning  for some reason I am running way behind today; so guess this will just be a fairly quick little fly-by for right now.

BUNNY . . . to get the little emoticons (smilies) in your posts, just use the "go advanced" button under the little reply box for doing your post. That takes you to a different spot where you will find a little box at the right hand side that has a few smilies in it. More importantly, at the bottom of that little box is a button that says "more". Click on that and you'll be taken to a whole big page of the little suckers. So have fun -- and after a while it gets even easier because you just learn what the code is for the ones you use the most. For example this one  is " : lol : " without the quotation marks and spaces.

See you all later, gang . . . :grouphug:

My goodness my days are crazy. Did I tell you DH works nights. I wait up for him and he gets home between 12 and 1 Am. He then eats something and watches a little tv. Well some nights we end up staying up really late so there is the reason I don't get up till late. So my days are nuts. LOL I have to watch it or I'll eat something then. Last night I didn't and I'm so proud of myself. For dinner I baked a pork tenderloin and we had that with some fresh broccoli. I've got to think of something for tonight. I have a hair appointment this afternoon...

Solly- So glad to see you. I've been wondering where you went to. Glad when you're back posting regular. You're doing so well. Congradulation on losing back down.

bunny- You know we didn't get like this overnight so don't beat your self up when you slip up. Just get up and start over. Its good to have you with us.

meowee- You sound busier than all get out. Have a good day....

Good Morning . . . although it is only just still morning here in northern Nova Scotia.

We've had enough different weather so far to qualify for two days. First thing this morning (well just before 8am) we had some really nasty thunderstorms go roaring through and now it's actually mostly sunny and mild (but not hot and sticky) and just a little too breezy -- but I hope it continues this way.

Nothing too exciting for me today -- I got a bag of precut sweet potatoes yesterday and had some with my asparagus and salmon for dinner -- can't say that I'm a lover of sweet potatoes; but guess I'll be looking for other things to do with them since the bag holds 16 servings and I hate waste. Just seems like another type of squash to me.

Anyway . . . lots of stuff to catch up on around here (3FC) . . . then I think I'll try to tear my almost completed Queen-size quilt out from under the cats and try to wrestle the bulk through the sewing machine to finish up the quilting process. At some point, I'll fire up my WiiFit and do some step aerobic with the Mii's. :lol3: Other than that -- SSDD.

The scale:devil: was kind to me this morning and showed me the first 218 number I've seen in -- wow, decades. :yay: Hope that sticks around too, but the way I bounce around, you never know.

Hope everybody else has a great day . . . try to keep things moving and shaking . . . :carrot:

But I'm backkkkkkkkk. Eating yesterday was pretty darn good. I just can't seem to get back on the treadmill this week. I'm going to try hard today to get some walking in.

meowee-Congradulations :bravo::cheer2: on the weight loss. You're inspiring. Thank you for keeping us alive over here.

Guess I'll go for now I'll check back in later....

Morning! Meowee, I love sweet potatoes and have two great ways to prepare them that are SB acceptable. I've never used precut, though but I'm sure they can be used.

Lynns Sweet Potatoes & Onions

Prick whole Sweet Potatoe with fork & cook in your Microwave on "Potatoe" til somewhat soft.
Let cool.
Cut in quarters lenghtwise. Scoop the meat out of the skin. (It just sorta pops out!)
Slice large white onion into thick rings.
In heavy frying pan heat ollive oil and butter. (I've had to add oil as they cook usuallly.)
Cook the onion for a few minutes over med/low heat. Add the potatoes and turn the heat to medium. Flip often. Cook to your liking. Sprinkle with Kosher Salt immediately upon removing from the pan.
The potatoes will turn a nice brown and somewhat caramalize. Just be sure to watch the onions as they will burn quickly.
I LOVE this dish - a little sweet. Sort of a Southern Dish! It's great with grilled pork chops!
I always make enough to have left overs - they are great the next day heated in my toaster over thats been preheated to 450. Just takes a minute and gets them nice and crispy again! Yum!

Lynns Baked Sweet Potatoes

Prick and cook in Micro on "Potatoe" til done (Nice and soft!)
Open and top with -
butter
the green part of green onions - chopped
bacon bits
SOOOO good! So much better than a loaded baked potatoe!

I serve these to guests and they love them. Don't even miss that brown sugar!

I'm doing the leftover Spaghetti for dinner this eve. I love whole wheat pasta. (Just have to fix the WW for me and the regular for hubby. A little work but worth it as he appreciates it.) Did a Vodka Penne Sauce with Hot Italian Sausages the other night. Wonderful and looking forward to the leftovers tonight.
It's just hotter than heck here in Ft. Worth but being the tuff girl I am I'm off to hit the thrift shops! Fun!!
Have a great day all!

Hey Everyone,

Meowee-Im sorry you feel like your talking to yourself. This place used to be hopping all the time. but i think with the warm weather everyone is out and about. Awesome job with the weight..I always feel like a new number could skip away as quickly as it appears. try hard to hang on to it..:) How do you like the Wiifit? It seems really cool but i dunno.

Toni-Welcome back, and horray for eating well. The treadmill will work its way back into your life. At least your eating better again..Good for you. I finally am back to eating good I had almost 3 weeks where every day or so was a cheat day.

Solly-Thanks it was an awesome day!!! Congrats on the weight loss..woah that was great..Im trying to get into the 160's i got there for about 2 days then I have been stuck @ 170-174 depending on the day. We can so this keep it up..:)

Bunnyb-Welcome to the board. Im sure you will love this WOE once everything gets it self worked out. In the beginning I ate way to much legal food so I wouldn't be tempted by hunger to cheat. It's not too bad in the beginning but after a week or so it is good to try to watch portions. However if your still loosing with that your doing they good..keep it what ever works for you.

Chris-whats new with you? How the food and such going?

Well I sat outside after the gym today for 90 min reading my book in the sun. it was nice. If anyone is interested in reading The Memory keepers Daughter By Kim Edwards I highly recommend not watching the lifetime move first. If you have the book will be really difficult and confusing. I kind of did both and it took me almost 2 weeks to finish the book. I am usually a 3-4 day book reader. Ok well I have to go shower and enjoy the rest of my day off!!!

Good Afternoon Ladies,
I have been in TN for a few days and have not even been on a computer!:dizzy: I usually go through withdrawal symptoms after a day but we were so busy cleaning up for couple coming to use the cabin I just did not have time. Thank the Lord it was just some weed eating and heavy dusting to do. :chin: Nothing like having a pastor and his wife coming to make you clean house! :judge: This is just me being in panic mode:sssh: b/c they would not have cared it it was not spotless!
Weight is down another half pound so the hard work was good for me!:carrot:
As we came back home we treated ourselves :goodvibesto a picnic in Roaring Fork. It is called this b/c there are areas on this motor nature trail where the water roars.........usually. It wasn't roaring but we sat near a very nice mini-waterfall and the sounds and sights were beautiful. Moss everywhere and it was so cool and damp! I loved it! I bet I saw a hundred different shades of green as I sat there and green is my favorite color!
Hope all of you are doing ok!

meowee

Wow thanks . . . those recipes sound good, really good and I'll definitely be giving them a try.

I  my WiiFit . . . actually I like the Wii Sports that comes with the console too and I've also got Wii Play (some of which is fairly interactive, but not all). But WiiFit is really worth the extra $100. Actually gives you a pretty good workout and analyzes your form doing the routines and gives you pointers. Also weighs you and calculates your BMI. It's cute the first time you use it and you pick your Mii, as soon as it determines where you are in the fitness/fatness scale, it adds an appropriate number of pounds to your Mii -- not flattering, but realistic.

I definitely agree . . . always read the book before you see the movie. Makes for a much more enjoyable combination.

So glad that people finally showed up . . . :grouphug: . . . BTW, have you been reading my general information type posts? I'd like to hear your input wither in the original threads or in here.

Think this is going to be a reading day for me -- just got a couple of new GI/GL related books. Planning a little series of "My Favourite GI/GL Reading Materials" starting next week. None of us should ever stop learning new stuff -- well, IMO, anyway.

Other than that, our weather is cool and windy but sunny and since it is Friday the 13th, who could ask for anything more. Well, I could since both my weight and my blood sugar level went in the wrong (upward) direction this morning. This too will pass. Hopefully soon. :crossed:

Hope everybody has a fun day on their horizon . . . See you all soon . . . :carrot:

I have my lil munchkins prek graduation this am so i had a lot of errend running to do for that..but now that all set so Im just taking a min to relax.

meowee-I agree you can never learn to much stuff. Do share the good info with us. Good Evening to everyone!
The weekend is here and we will be making a overnight trip to TN tomorrow so I can go to church with my Dad. We won't go all the way to our cabin b/c it is 2 hours to the church from there. Another reason is there will be family there from out of state, (the 49 yr old father of a 15 and a 17 yr old boy, passed away yesterday after a six month illness) and they will stay a few days after the funeral. I feel for these young men who just lost their father and so close to Father's Day has to make it harder. Makes me thankful I still have my Dad.
I don't think I mentioned it here but our upstairs air went out while we were gone. I could not believe it was 113 degrees in my bedroom! All is ok now but it took almost 12 hours for it to get cool up there after the repair. I told Kenneth this ought to give some insight on how it is for our troops.
I have been checking my bgl during the night and I have had several at 103-115 so I guess not eating the bedtime snack was the problem. Any suggestions on what :?: to eat when you are plain not hungry?
GYM~~Nice to hear you had a good B'day and I did not feel slighted at all by not being addressed directly, sometimes I goof like that too! It was just good seeing you here! Maybe Meowee will post the link here for you to the other board...I read anything I can find she has posted and I always learn something. I have to go get supper started! Have a nice weekend everyone!

meowee
06-13-2008, 07:45 PM
Hi PEGGY . . . those 103 to 115 are pretty good readings, but depending on the timing you could go quite low in another two or three hours. Good snacks for bedtime would be just about anthing involving some carbs and some protein. About the easiest and least overwhelming when you are not hungry would be some LF/FF and NSA yogurt or even the good old standby glass of LF/FF milk (warm or otherwise ) Good balance between carbs and protein.

Just passing by and stopping in to say hello.

As usual, my life is crazy. My husband was laid off Monday morning, so we are back to watching every penny and waiting for him to find a job. My daughter who lives with us accepted a full time job as an office manager for a dentist this morning. The pay is excellent, and she is pretty excited. Her husband has a job at Home Depot and is doing well, so they will probably be moving into their own place soon. Yay!

I am doing fairly well with my SB and exercise...and the weight is creeping down.

Meowee~~I have both on hand so I will try it tonight! Thanks!

Ellen~~So good to hear from you! I am sorry to hear about the layoff, having been there and back many times through the years, I know how hard it is and STRESSFUL! I hope something opens up soon for him. My son started a new job 6 months ago and was doing so well then had 3 days out in one week due to hospital procedures and he was "let go" too. Had not missed another single day either. The news for your daughter was great though1
Morning and have a nice weekend to all.

Hello, I know its late but had a busy day. Not much happening this evening. I cooked a roast in the crockpot and it was so good and tender. And theres plenty left for sandwiches. I think Monday evening I'll try to start walking out at the campground. I would have to start out slow but could work up to a nice walk. I'll see how I feel Monday evening.

Ellen- Its so good to see you posting. I'm sorry Tom is laid off. Good for your daughter getting a job. And I'm glad you're still on SB. I've been watching Etsy to see if you've put up any new pottery.

Peggy- Have a good trip. Enjoy your Dad.

Gym- Good going on your weight.

Meowee- Hope your blood sugar is better in the morning. Glad you're reading lots of good stuff so you can teach us.....

Time for bed. Have a good night all....

Good Afternoon . . . . . . and, yes, I almost typed 'morning'.

Cool and raining for us today, but at least the wind has calmed down a lot. Decided I'd do a little 5K on the gazelle today -- so far, one mile down and 2 (and a little bit) to go. Hope some of the rest of you get to be outside in comfy tempertures and lots of sunshine.

BTW -- I do recommend the Gazelle for anyone with arthritic knees like mine. Not only no impact (like you'd have with a treadmill) but also no knee-bending (like you get with an eliptical).

Learned my lesson about that big bag of precut sweet potatoes last night -- started finding a couple that were getting a bit yucky so I picked through them all and then boiled up and mashed all the good ones and put them into the fridge. Think I'll try that recipe with the onions that's done in the frying pan tonight. From now on I'll buy real potatoes and do my own cutting up thank you. Must have thrown out about 1/4 of the original 3 pounds that were in the bag.

See you later . . . :grouphug:

Hello and happy Sat. all... Just had lunch which was a wonderful roast sand. on pumpernickle bread with a V8 juice. Yum..... I've been thinking about how to change things in my life to be more healthy. I've let my eating and no exercise get out of control. I'm hopeing for a better week.

Meowee- Darn I've been wanting to find frozen sweet potato fries. That doesn't sound to promiseing. I have a treadmill so no gazelle for me. I was lucky my niece gave me a beautiful one. If I'd only use it.

Well guess everyone is busy......

I couldn't sleep so I just got up. I'll be a grump all day today I'm sure!

Nothing new around here.....stil HOT, HUMID and NOT ENOUGH RAIN!!!!

Wanted to give y'all the movie picks for the weekend:

THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL
THE AIR THAT I BREATHE
THE WALKER
THE BUCKET LIST

I've got some straightening up to do today, and always some laundry. I'll be busy (hopefully).

Went to the grocery yesterday....I'm going to slow cook some pork ribs and turnips along with a big pot of fresh kale. Monday, I'm grilling up some chicken for my lunch this coming week.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.....

Good morning all. This is going to be a very short post, as my daughter needs me 24/7 since the surgery on Wed. My surgery went well and have had almost no pain. I know somebody up there is watching over me because there is no way I could have watched my daughter and had pain myself. Her doctor repaired her ACL and one meniscus tear, the other tear will heal on its own. She will most likely miss her graduation this Wed. Hope all is well with everyone. I haven't had time to get on the scale but I have been on plan pretty much, so I'm sure I haven't gained any weight. Hopefully I've lost a pound or 2.
Talk to you when things quiet down a bit.

Good Morning . . . and Happy Father's Day, too . . .

Our official forecast calls for mostly sunny, but you definitely cannot tell by looking. Guess our rain yesterday was a little too localized. Unfortunate, because today it's difficult to even guess at the weather by looking outside. There is a very large out-of-control brush fire raging just this side of Halifax (about two hours from here, luckily) and the smoke is definitely blowing this way. About 5000 people have been evacuated and so far there is only property damage but they just cannot seem to get control of the fire. Think I'll be sticking to home again today . . . not a good day to be out and about.

Hope everybody else has a great day on the go . . . keep things moving and shaking just as much as you can . . . :carrot:

Morning all. Happy Father's Day to all you Father's out there. We're going out of town to Lowe's today and to mexican food. Thats what Steve wants to do. Yesterday was pretty good eating for dinner I had a pork steak and and a baked sweet potato on the fire. Man is that so good. It just melts in your mouth. We sat out by the firepit to for awhile. So it was a great evening.

Bob- Maybe you'll need to take a little nap today. You know I've never cooked or eaten kale. I would love to know what it tastes like. Your dinner sounds so yummy. I love the idea of grilling chicken breasts for the week.

Chris- I hope you and your daughter heal fast. You've got your work cut out for you. Take it easy.

Meowee- Good thing that fire is a little ways from you. Stay safe. Guess its going to be sunny and hot here.

Off I go. Have a happy day....

Good Evening to all!

Father's Day was a great one for me! I got to see my Dad and sit b/t him and my DH for the church service. There was a speaker there from India, a Bishop actually. His testimony was really seeing into another world.
Eating was ok but not great....I never eat enough when we are traveling and it just throws me off every time. :?:
Meowee~~I spoke with a friend of mine in Nova Scotia tonight and I think the fires are about out now. They have reached water for the most part and with the fog that is expected tonight maybe they will be out soon. His son is with the FD there and that is his take on it anyway. I feel for the two homes that were lost and the families in the fives of thousands that were displaced.
CHRIS~~I hope BOTH you and your daughter heal quickly! My prayers are with you.
BOB~~ I am jealous! I so want to see The Bucket List!
TONI~~When you talk food MY MOUTH WATERS!

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

My day is looking decent -- both the weight and the blood sugar went in the right direction this morning

More importantly that fire has finally been contained (as Peggy mentioned) and all but 50 of the 5000 evacuees have been able to go home and damage is relatively minimal for most people, although not for the environment of course :(. The firefighters finally got a break and the wind shifted and blew the fire back where it had already come from and it quite literally ran itself out of new fuel.

So . . . although it is rather overcast this morning, at least the fire haze has blown away and I can get out to at least get some groceries if nothing else. Other than that -- nothing new or exciting in my plans -- hopefully I'll get back a little later to start that book review thread I mentioned the other day. In the meantime, have a great moving and shaking kind of day, everybody.

Good afternoon everyone. We spent a nice Sunday out. Steve got a new barbecue grill from Lowes and got to look at all of the man things with me dragging along. UGH! We looked at tool and tool and did I say tools. Of course he has every tool known to man. But ended up with a good ole Weber charcoal barbecue. And yep we did have mexican food. I cheated!! Plain simple. I ate all the wrong things. And had two ice cold beers on top of that. So I'm humble today. This evening I start walking at the camp ground I hope. When it cools off. So wish me luck.....

chris- Yep the day was a success... How are you and daughter feeling?

Peggy- Sounds like you had a great day with your Dad. How lucky you are to have him.

meowee- So glad the weight and blood levels are okay today. What more can you ask for!!! Hope you got to grocery shop. I'm so glad the fire is contained. Hope the air is okay.........

Okay Sugar Shakers I'm on my way to cook breakfast/lunch for the hubby. Did I mention I've got the best white meat peaches. They're yummy.

Hey Toni....I was here but did not post. Had to go get the outdoor carpet and ceiling fan for the gazebo we are having built. I think most every one works days and I don't think some of the regulars have posted on this new board yet! What's up there? I miss lots of the ladies too!

I don't know where so many of the regulars went. I miss them all posting. I walked, I walked......... Went to the campground and gave it my all. Hope I can keep this up. I may have to get up early and get out in July and Aug. Its so hot here.

I know Toni! And I don't know any email addresses to write them. I have scanned the other boards as best as I can (not sure I am even doing it correctly) and I can't figure out the PM thing on here, But I am really missing them! We are happy to be getting the gazebo here. It has been several years in coming and I thought if I got it in I might get some idea what to do with this horrible back yard! Enjoy your walking! I do mine in the early AM, too hot here after 10 AM now.

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Not feeling too perky today -- partly weather since it's pretty overcast and supposed to rain later one -- partly because this is the day for my annual Gyn visit -- partly because the weight blipped up again. :dizzy: Oh well -- everything on the list will pass in due course. At least the BGL was not too bad.

Didn't get a chance to start that new plan/book review series yet, and today doesn't look promiosing either. But, I will get there, I promise.

Peggy . . . PM 101 time . . .
At the very top of every forum page (right where it says Welcome PeggyJ) there is a link to Private Messages. Click on that and it takes you to the PM area in User CP. In the list at the left, click on Send New Message. In the Recipient box, type as much as you remember of their name and you'll get a list of all the similar names -- for example, if you type in 'peggy' you'll get a fairly good sized list that you can just scroll down and click on the right one -- then you just proceed as if you were doing a regular post.

Hope everybody has a good day . . . see you later

Thanks Meowee!
This time the instructions took I think! It just seems so many are missing since the crash, and I would really like them to return! I did just a few PM's and that is all I can do. Before, when I tried the PM thing, I got some message about not being authorized to to that, and it freaked me out, so I never tried again. Maybe in the first few days of learning about boards? Anyway, I thank you again for your help! Hope your feeling better!

Hi all!!!!! Sorry i have been missing in action over here...my computer crashed and has been in the shop getting diagnosed...we did end up having to buy a new one, since the cost of repairing the old one was almost the same price..!!! Thanks for your message, Peggy, I wasn't able to reply due to you having your message settings off and you aren't accepting messages, but thank you so much for thinking of me..I do appreciate it!!!!
Hubby and I were able to sneak away for a few days...(the inlaws were in town to watch the kids), but it was quite a challenge for me to try to find the right foods to eat..as every night was a lavish buffet (at the resort), loaded mostly with high carb foods, as well as high salt content. I ended up coming home with a few pounds of water weight just from the salty foods...so it was very nice to see that all come off when I got back home and was back to healthier food preparation. Omg!, the desserts looked so amazing too, but I was good and didn't even taste a smidgen! I was so proud of myself...because I know that before SB, I would have had to have tasted at least a few of them...lol... I think I was too scared to start all over again with the whole sugar withdrawal...and that was enough to keep my willpower on track.
Well, it's been super hot here in NJ, I hope all of you are staying nice and cool wherever you are....I have missed all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so good to be back! ~ Ashley:-)

Good morning everyone. Just had a breakfast of oatmeal and pumpernickel toast and of course coffee. I probably shuld have had so OJ. Eating has been good. I'm trying not to eat at night and did well last night with only having a few walnuts and lots of water. Thats sure important especially this time of year to try and get your water in. Plus I have 2 or 3 cups of hot green tea.

Ashley- Its good to see you posting again. Its nice you got away for a bit. And how lucky to have in laws around to babysit for you. Since the kids are grown now we need a dog sitter for our spoiled rotten boston terrier. But guess thats not going to happen.

Peggy- How neat you send out messages. I sure some of the people. I know its summer and everyone is probably busy with warm weather stuff.

meowee- Hope you get to feeling better today. The rain is a bit depressing...Sorry about the weight but it will come off. Curl up with a good book and a cup of tea. Pamper yourself.......

Okay have to go out of town today. Hope I walk tonight. I think Peggy is right and morning time would be better. Maybe tomorrow I'll try that.

PEGGY -- to turn on your private messaging, go to User CP, then click on Edit Options. Scroll down until you find the Private Messaging area and click on the first box. BTW, I think what happened when you tried to PM early on was that you were still in your 30-day probabtion period. During that time you are only allowed to PM to Moderators and you must have been trying to reach another member. :)

I may be a little slack in my posts for the next few days as I have some help coming to get my household back on track. Too much traveling, revamping things, etc., to do my housework decent. I am 53 yrs old and I have never had help with housework...I must be losing it! See you all later!

Good Morning Sugar Babes . . . :grouphug:

Very muggy and overcast today -- and I ache in a lot of places -- but things have been so changeable lately, who knows what the afternoon may bring. A good rain would be very welcome since it appears there are still some little hot spots in the firea area -- and they found the ignition point. It appears to be 'careless camper' syndrome. Will people never learn?

Spent 90 minutes in the waiting room for my 15 minute appointment with the gyn yesterday. At least he changed the picture on the ceiling over the examining table since the last time I was there. Two of the cutest little chocolate lab puppies you'd ever want to see. One bit of good news, his scale weighed me 1 pound lighter than my own. Always a pleasant and totally unexpected surprise; especially since it was 4 pm and fully clothed vs first thing in the morning and fully unclothed.

Nothing too much on my agenda . . . hopefully I'll find time for some new information posting . . . hope everybody else has a great Wednesday . . . see you later. :carrot:

Afternoon all. I've been busy this morning. Got a pot of vegetable beef soup going in the crockpot and a load of wash in. I went over to the campground and walked while I was out. Thats three days now and I'm so pleased with myself. The lady that helps me with housework has lost allot weight and looks great. When I asked her what she did to lose it she said You're not going to like this but I walked. And thats how she lost it. So that kind of gave me inspiration. Plus I'm trying to get veggies in alot more to my eating habits. Well better go do some more stuff.

meowee- Glad you got your appointment done. I'm always glad when those are over. I'm next. We were overcast today to but now the sun is coming out in full force.

Hey Ladies,

I am back and everything is over so I should have more time to post on a daily basis. The golf tournament went well and we raised over $17,000 on the silent auction so we should make our goal of a donation of $75,000 I hope.

Eating is so-so. I am walking pretty much every morning, Rudy has come to expect it now and makes me get up. 3 weeks until vacation. I doubt I will make my goal, but I am trying.

I have missed everyone. I am anxious to try out the other threads, they look interesting. Thanks Meowee.

Chris, Hope you and your DD are getting better.

Ellen, so sorry to hear about Tom's job. Poor buy. Hope things turn around for you.

Toni, glad you are hanging in there.

I know there are others I am missing but for some reason it takes forever to go between pages so I can't go any further and I can't remember what I have read. So I will start tomorrow on replies.

I have bunco tonight but first I'm getting my nails done and a pedicure.

See you tomorrow.

Hi there . . .

Looks like a busy day for me . . . the Bengal Twins have to go to the vet for their annual shots. It will probably take two of us an hour to get them caged up. Then they will screach and complain the whole time. When they get back home again, they will disappear from sight for at least two days and it will take about 3 months before I can get near them again -- they are definitely not the most tractable cats I've ever had, but are they ever great grudge holders. :dizzy: No idea where they are right now -- haven't seen either one since I brought the cage in from the garage.

After that, it's the normal afternoon of shopping with my friend LouLou -- well, it is, if we've got any energy left. To top it off, it's cold and very overcast . . . difficult to believe it's only two days until Summer is officially here . . . I'm still waiting for Spring.

Anyway . . . hope you all have great days planned . . . keep things moving and shaking, gang . . . :carrot:

Good morning

I didn't get home until after midnight last night so I am dragging today. Was going to skip my walk this morning, but Rudy had other ideas. he kept jumping back and forth over me until I finally got up. It was late so we had to shorten it. We will get a good one in when I get home.

Meowee, have fun shopping today. We didn't have much of a spring either. It went from really cold to really hot. But this week it is quite pleasant, with low humidity.

Toni, I just can't seem to do soup in the summer. Good for you getting your walk in. Are you walking alone or do you have a buddy this time?

My oldest boss (86) fell in the shower yesterday and had to have brain surgery to release the bleeding on his brain. Surprisingly he is doing very well. He will have to go to a nursing home for rehab but I fully expect to see him coming in the door in about a month. He is one tough bird. Until recently he was still coming in every day and staying until 4:00 or so. He has been going down sicne his wife died 4 years ago. Work is all he really has. It seems my prayer list grows every day.

Got to get busy. Have a great day.

Hey guys! I'm back from vacation and boy does it SHOW,lol. Up several. I ended up going just hogwild! So now it's back to shaking some sugar, lol. I've been pretty stressed with my job and have made the decision to start looking for another. You would think that I would stay with banking but I gave my resume to a gym for the management position. Who knows? We'll see. It will actually be a pay cut from where I'm at..but I'm really thinking I will like it and work my way up. As for Boogie..he's doing pretty good. No more episodes so far. We go back to the cardiologist in August. Oh, I guess I'll get back on track with posting my menu's:

BF: NSA oatmeal and cantaloupe with a couple strawberries
Snack: 2 tbsp natural PB
Lunch: A legal Smart Ones(beef and brocolli), and a SF yogurt
Supper: Grilled chicken, green beans, and another veggie

Man, I hope I can take this weight off in another week! So easy to put on and heck to take off.

Good morning ladies.

It seems we are missing lots of members. Where has everyone gone? Got in a short walk last night, it was threatening rain but we beat it. Of course Rudy got me up and out this morning. I was sure sleeping soundly and did not want to go.

I'm really sleepy now and don't know why, I fell asleep on the couch around 8:30 and DH woke me up to got ot bed at 9:30 and I slept thru the night which is very unusual. So I should be rested and ready to go, but I can't keep my eye open. Maybe a few cups of coffee will help. Guess I will have to have regular instead of my decaf. No plans for tonight. My DD is in a wedding in Lexington tomorrow night, so we will drive down there to that and back home.

Toni,Do you have a MP3 player? It really helps pass the time when I walk alone. I talk to Rudy but he doesn't talk back.

Laurie, glad you had a nice vacation. Where did you go? It is hard to be good on vacation. It will come off quickly. Glad Boogie is doing ok. Good luck on your job hunt. My DD gave her notice yesterday. She gave them 33 days notice and will come back and work a concert they are having. So they should appreciate that.

Meowee, hope your mood improves. Smile, it makes you happy.

Off to get my day started. It seems so funny not having so much to do. I acutally like being busy. Have a great weekend. Talk to you Monday.

Good Morning!
I haven't posted in a few days, just been "busy as a cat in a round house looking for a corner" so to speak. Workmen in the back yard working on the gazebo, and company in the house :dizzy:! I did have a stroke of good luck, I had hired my son to clean the sides of the road on our street and it was going to take a week or better. Yesterday the county came out with a huge mower and they are cutting in a day what would have taken a week! Son was very happy! LOL There is plenty of other work for him and not near so hot or hard!:spin:
Solly~~I have a cat that walks with me! He looks just like the cat I use here and he is more like a dog than a cat. I walk a cul-de-sac that goes uphill and this cat will walk on the road and back with me just like he is on a leash! He even uses the pet door....I haven't had a litter box in my house in over 3 yrs! I love that! Unless I leash my dogs they are off and into the woods every time! Hope your boss is recovering quickly!
Meowee~~~Here is some happy sunshine for you to help you feel better! :flow1::flow2::flow1: I have days like you and I tell my hubby I am not "fit company for human or beast". I hope it passes quickly!
HeartMom~~So glad your back  and I hope vacation was all you wanted it to be. Hope the job comes open for you that you want.:goodluck:
Toni~~I think you are walking alot more than I am! :running:
BS this morning was up....190! I ate 1/2 of a Reeses' Cup last night...I never eat candy! Weight is stuck so I am going smaller portions once again to get it to budge at least! I have a ton to do so I have to get started....Hope everyone has a good day!

Happy Saturday morning to everyone-
We are still alive and fairly well here. My daughter is doing better everyday, thanks to all who have asked how we're doing! I, on the other hand, seem to be a slow healer. Went for my post op check up and the doctor needs to see me again in a few days. Seems I'm not healing at the rate she would like to see me heal. She also found the problem to my my abscess (fistula). It seems I have something called a fissure. It's like a paper cut in the derriere, to put it mildly. If that isn't fixed I will continue to have problems, so another surgery may be in the happening. Can't wait.

On a positive note, I am down 2 pounds!!! All this running up and down the stairs waiting on Gable has been burning those calories. I have decided once I reach my goal of 155, I'm going to adjust it to 145. That will give me a 5 pound margin to adjust to maintenance. As long as I stay between 145-150, I'll be happy.

Have a great weekend everyone!:)

Happy Saturday all.... The week end is bad for me. I have an awful time with it. First I've drank to much wine and I could have done better on my eating. We had giant hot dogs and I should have only had one without bun instead of two with buns. WHITE FLOUR......... Our week end starts Thursday night. So I've got to do better from now on.

Meowee- Does it ever get better or easier. Why must we keep falling back into old patterns. I'm so frustrated with myself and sounds like you are to. Good luck with a better day.

Chris- Have you made yourself worse waiting on your daughter? What we Mom's do for our kids. Take care of yourself to. I'm glad you daughter is getting better.

Peggy-No more walking for me till Monday. I think 3 or 4 days a week is enough for me. I have severe coronary artery disease so it hampers everything I do. I to need to get the smaller portions working for me.

Hey Everyone,

I haven't posted in quite sometime. I try to at least read but this week was insane. Love all the extra money I made but still..lot of working going on!

Eating hasn't been awful--but I can't say I have had a full legal day in a long time. I do pick my battles..breakfast and lunch are always legal and then fruits and snacks as well. Dinner has become a challenge as well as dessert. ice cream and just sweets are tougher. I know I am treating my body much better food wise than I ever have even on my worst days. 4 weeks until moving day and then majority of meals will be at home as so im only buying legal food. No more dinner tempteations when I get home from work.

I made it to the gym 5 days last week and last night I danced the night away. No alachol either--just breakfast from dennys at 230 this am. I ate half and took half home. I did finish the other half when I got up..but oh well.

Hope evryone else is gdoing great. Solly it's great to see you back, meowee-hope your days are getting happier..sorry your grumpy. Peggy, chris & toni..Hello..:) Everyone else have a great day...

Well I'm struggling over the week end as usual. I just can't seem to get a grip on myself when it comes to the week end. I'm so mad. Hopefully the day will bring better stuff. Tomorrow I start walking again.

Gym- Its so good to see you again. Its nice you got out to dance. You deserve a break. Hope you can come on here more this week. Hope your move goes good.

meowee- Hope your blood sugar gets better. Glad your eating was good.

And a great Good Morning to all . . . :grouphug:

Obviously my funk mood is finally retreating . . . although I have no more idea of why than I did about why it was so rotten the past few days. Blood sugar is a disaster this morning, but the fact that I overdid the fruit content yesterday might hve something to do with that. Mostly I think it's just timing since it was fairly low at bedtime lat night. This too will pass.

Finally got really mad at the stupid digital scale since it took my 9 tries to get the same number twice this morning. Put it away for a while and brought out the big old Seca analog clunker -- the kind used in a lot of doctor's offices, if they don't have a balance-bar type -- so we'll see how consistent good old German engineering can be for a while. Trouble is, of course, analog is not nearly as precise so looks like I'm between 218 and 219 this morning -- decided to call it 218.5.

So far the day is overcast, but the forecast is calling for sun later on with a high in the mid 20's (mid to upper 70's), but with the humidity increasing too. Rain predicted for tomorrow -- we need it.

Well, better get myself moving and shaking; practicing for Gary's latest 5K and have done my first Gazelle mile so far this morning. . . . see you all later . . . :carrot:

Good morning ladies.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was not exciting. We went to the wedding in Lexington. We didn't get to really stay long b/c we had left Rudy most of the day and night so we left right after the food was served. We really didn't know anyone but the bride and 2 girls inthe wedding so it was ok. Yesterday I had a shower to go to. Only new the mother of the bride and my friend there. Sorta lazy day. Last night went did a PPV on 27 Dresses. It was cute. Bob, don't know if you have seen it yet. I have been out of diuretics at home and boy my weight was up 8 lbs today. This is so frustrating. But then my eating has not been great either.

Toni, I know exactly how you feel about the weekends. Too much wine and t\bad foods. I really don't know what the answer is. We like to run and socialize soo much and that makes eating hard.

Chris, what is your answer? You have done so well with your wt loss. A 5 lb cushion is a great thing to do. Hope your DD is feeling better and you too. what a shame you have to have another surgery.

Meowee, glad your funk is leaving. Hope you can get your blood sugar regulated soon. I'm sure that has an affect on your mood.

Gym, Glad you are back posting. Have you moved into your own place yet? Sounds like you are doing good with the gym still.

I did get in a good walk this morning. We had rudy groomed yesterday at our house and he is acting so strange. He won't go out and he hides and is constantly licking himself everywhere. I tried to get him to walk today and he sat in the middle of the street and would not move. I am a little concerned. Anyone ever heard of this before? At least I got in 7 days of walking last week. Can't say it's done any good in the wt department. I'll check back later. Have a great day.

Peggy, I have never seen a cat walk on a leash. How funny.

Good Monday Morning All. Glad the week end is over. Even though I enjoyed it I'm glad to get back on track. Hope to get back to walking this evening.

Solly- My problem is exactly like you described to much wine/food while socializing. Week-ends are a big deal for me to have some drinks with DH. Sounds like getting Rudy clipped kind of traumatized him. Poor guy. Hopefully he'll snap out of it soon.

Meowee- Glad you're feeling a bit better. Hope your BS goes down today.

Good Morning . . . more or less. . . . stupid storm woke me up at 4 am and by the time I closed all the windows, I was definitely awake.

Really loving the analog Seca scale this morning. No matter how hard I tried -- on and off a few times and even shoved it around on the floor a bit -- couldn't convince it to register any number other than 215. Must have stripped a bunch of water yesterday because I know you can't lose more than 3 pounds of fat overnight anymore than you can gain it in the same time frame. Hey, whatever it is, I like the number :goodscale

Too bad I can't say the same for the blood sugar . . . but I do think it is a rebound effect since it was low again at bedtime last night . . . so I'm not totally concerned -- just wish I could get it to better balance.

Hope everybody else has a great day . . .

Good morning Toni and Meowee.

Where is everyone? Have they abandoned us?

I got in a half walk this morning. Rudy is still not himself. We gave him another bath thinking something irritated his skin and he was a little better but would not walk. Had to carry him twice and then I just turned around. He walked all the way home. Go figure. I guess I will take him to the vet tonight or tomorrow night if he is not better.

Meowee, I had the same problem with my scale. I dropped 10 pounds of water depending on where I stood on the scale. If I stand in the middle with my feet close together, I weight 5 lbs more. If I stand normally, I was down 10. I'm taking the 10.

Toni, good job on your eating and walking on the :tread: We put ours away and have not got it back out yet. We haven't been to the gym in a long while either. We have been walking a night too so that should help but it doesn't seem to be. Nothing fits any different.

Started with oatmeal and blueberries and walnuts this morning. My pantry door will not open. It seems like it is locked but there is no lock. So I could not get anything out of there. Lunch will be a Lean Cusine or a wrap. We are having a free lunch brought in so I will see how much there is and what it is. I think dinner is chicken legs on the grill some way. Got to get going here. Have a great day

hey Everyone,

School is finally finished so the summer has started. The gym is going to be a lot tougher to get to now. Luckily the people I nanny for just got a brand new treadmill and elliptical that are very nice. The only problem is staying on them. I did job one lap while the kids played at the playground..LOL At least it was something.

Solly-I move out in 3 1/2 weeks July 19th. It is coming up very quick. A half walk is better tha nothing.

meowee-Congrats on the 215. I laughed at the scale thing..that's funny banging the scale around. I though i read mine wrong too..cause it said 169.5 and I haven't weighed that in 7 weeks and that was after 2 whole weeks of great eating and gym. I haven't been to the gym in 3 days and eating is only good. Not great. SO maybe the scale gods were being nice. Either way...like you said i'll take it.

Toni-COngrats on the good day and walking on the treadmill..Go you!!!

Ok well my natives are getting restless at my house..we stopped by to make a potty stop. LOL So Im off to swim class...:)

Hey, guys. Not much going on..just work. Went on the second interview today for the gym position..we'll see. The vacation pounds are starting to come off..actually, I haven't weighed..using the mirror and clothes as my guide. Been doing this for so long I just about don't need the scale..as long as I'm doing good that is..if I have that mindset and go WAY off plan, then not weighing is like being in denial, lol. Can be an eye-opener for when you do weigh(YIKES!). I've been kinda skimpy on working out. I wish that I did have more time to devote. But I'm going to at least try to do something every day this week. Yesterday I did Leslie Sansone's 30 min walk. Today I did her 2 mile WATP walk with 3 # weights. I'll probably hit the gym tomorrow and Thursday. Friday will be Leslie Sansone's Walk Strong(some strength training with cardio). Hopefully I will be able to do more than 30 min for Saturday and Sunday. Alright..work is calling(sigh)..

Hi ladies,

Unevental here. Did not get my walk this morning or last night. Rudy was not up to it. Then we made a trip to the vet so it was sit on the couch when we got home. Maybe tomorrow.

Laurie, sounds like your exercise is good to me. 30 minutes a day is great work. You look so much like my SIL when she was younger it is almost scarry. You have a twin.

Gym. I know you are looking forward to your move. It will be here soon. Hope you are packing.

Toni, Good job getting on that :tread: today. I did not get my walk this morning. Rudy still will not go out. We went to the vet and nothing is wrong that they can tell. $137.00 later. Hopefully tomorrow he will go. I may try to get to the gym for a little while tonight.

Meowee, you must be getting our weather. The last few days have been perfect with low humidity. But that has passed and it is not hot and humid. But you don't hear me complaining.

I had been doing so great with my eating. Today we went to Taco Bell and instead of being good and getting the taco salad and not eat the shell, I got a Mexican pizza and taco. Got to stop that.

Got to run. Have a great day.

Good Evening Ladies,
I can't even tell when was the last time I posted here. I have been out of the loop with strep throat, and ear infections so painful I cried! Shhhh! I did not admit to that! When I saw the Doc my weight was 173 :goodscale which was better...but what a way to hit it! Since this is NOT just a SugarBuster board anymore have any of you used Alli? Dr. told me to give it a try since it was originally a diabetes pill only by Rx! Since I have been eating a low fat diet for yrs I started on the Alli today and I wanted to know if any of you had any experience with it? Also...have any of you heard the range for good/noraml BP is now 115/75????? Blew my socks off! :fr: Did this warrant being put on bp meds with 135 /101 reading????
Gym~~ So many changes for you! I hope you love having a place of your own. Is there any doubt? Rib rib...LOL
Meowee~~Look in Alabama and you will find where your high humidity went! I am pleased to see your feeling better! Did any of the good vibes :goodvibesI sent to you reach you?
Solly~~ I am saying "Feel Better" prayers for Rudy! When My 14 yr old Taffy dog gets moody and whacked out, we have to take her to the vet to be "bled and rehydrated" b/c she has polycythemia...to many red blood cells! No joke! :nono:
HeartMom! You just reminded me...I have some of those very tapes and I should be ashamed to admit this but I think they are still in the wrapper! A gift I asked for 3 yrs ago! I am bad!
Hey Toni~~Hope all is well with you now!
Emily is here and almost her bedtime so I best scoot! Night to all!

Since this is NOT just a SugarBuster board anymore have any of you used Alli? Dr. told me to give it a try since it was originally a diabetes pill only by Rx!

Wow . . . I have definitely never heard that before. Alli is simply a slightly lower strength and, therefore OTC, version of Xenical which is a perscription weight loss drug. The generic name is Orlistat and it is usually described as being counter indicated for diabetcs, or at least to be used only under very tightly monitored conditions.

If you have any links to articles that substantiate what your doctor told you, I would really love to read the articles. If you don't know of any off-hand, perhaps you could ask your doctor. Please and thank you.

Obviously, I have no direct knowledge but there are a few ongoing threads on the topic in the General diet Plans and Frequently Asked Questions forum. Apparently, as for the perscription version (Xenical) the most difficult proplem appers to be loose and oily stool leakage if you over-indulge in fat since the drug works by blocking a certain amount of fat digestion.

petra65
06-25-2008, 10:43 PM
To the best of my knowledge, Xenical was never marketed as anything other than a weight loss aide. Meowee, you are correct, it works by blocking the absorption of some fat in your digestive tract so if you are not able to adhere to the dietary restrictions you will have unpleasant side effects. I sort of think of it as the antabuse of the diet industry. (Antabuse is the drug that makes alcoholics sick if they drink alcohol. ) Low GI plans, in general would not be considered "low fat". Most of them contain 30-40% of calories from fat and would likely be too high to work with that medication.

PeggyJ
06-25-2008, 10:48 PM
Meowee!! You know I had that very thought that it must be a lot like Xenical but I could not pull the word "Xenical" from my muddled brain! I am going to give this a try since I have already started it but since I eat almost everything No Fat/Low Fat I can't see where it will do alot of good. I know you get fat from sources you don't consider fat so we will see what a month brings. Try going to www.My Alli.com and see what info you can get there. As I reach this I'll keep you posted. The 115/75 Bp blew my mind too!

petra65
06-25-2008, 10:58 PM
Peggy-I believe that goal for BP is for diabetics. I'm assuming you have diabetes based on a couple of things you have written.

Toni48
06-26-2008, 01:28 AM
Oh boy I had Xental for weight loss and I spent allot of time in the bathroom. It didn't even matter if I ate fat or not. It got so bad I had to quit taking it. Good luck with it. Its probably better to have Alli because its a lower dose.

Got my walk in today. And eating was good. But I haven't lost a lb. Hope you all have a good night.

meowee
06-26-2008, 10:19 AM
Good Morning, Chickadees . . . :grouphug:

Checked the http://www.myalli.com site and this is the only reference I found to diabetes (in the frequently asked questions area) . . .
14. is it OK for diabetics to use alli?
Ask a doctor before using alli if you are taking medicines for diabetes. There is no drug interaction between alli and diabetes medications; however, people with diabetes may have lower blood sugar levels and improved glycemic control after losing weight with alli. This may require a dose reduction of their diabetes medication.

Basically it just says you will have better BGL after losing weight so that's certainly no surprise. The italics are mine, BTW.

Anyway . . . we are looking at another gorgeous day in northern NS . . . although both the temperature and the humidity are predicted to be a little higher than yesterday. Planning more walking today, although not sure what shoes I'll be wearing. My Crocs rubbed a little blister on the top of my foot yesterday.

Hope everybody else has a great moving and shaking kind of day . . . :carrot:

Good Morning! Feeling much better this morning from the meds I have for the strep and ear infections, I am sure. We got a good long rain last night which Alabama badly needed. I could have done without the terrible popping lightening but I loved the rolling thunder! LOL, go figure!

Meowee~~You read exactly what I read on the Alli Board. So far nothing much in the way of "treatment effects" so ... so far so good! I had a terrible time with Metformin until it was changed to the extended release type and I am doing great on it now. Thanks for checking on this for me!

Toni~~You are mean! :stress: You have mentioned your treadmill :tread:(and actually used it) and I now want one myself! LOL

Petra65~~Yes, your correct I am diabetic. I am doing my best to understand the disease and correct my diet/lifestyle as to not make it any worse. I don't mention the diabetes much on this board because I want to stay on subject but I have read some things on this board that have helped me understand the diet side of controlling the BS level. I also go to a board where dieting with diabetes is discussed with a more "diabetic" lean to the info. Some days I think I have an understanding of it (the diabetes) and some days it is like everything is written in Greek! :dizzy: So I keep reading and learning along the way. Meowee is so good at explaining things I tend to follow her around on the boards too. Shhh, :sssh: don't tell her! LOL

Hope everyone has a great day today! :grouphug:

You can follow me around all you want Peggy . . . but I hate to tell you that even after almost 20 years of living with Diabetes, I still don't really understand it sometimes.

BTW, I put on long pants, heavy socks and my loosest running shoes for the shopping tour today and no aggrevation of the blister whatsoever -- just hot feet. :s:

Hi all....sorry I have been missing in action....you won't believe what happened to me!

I had to have an emergency appendectomy! (appendix removed). It all started with right sided abdominal pain that kept me up all night long, and since it didn't get any better the following morning... I went to see the doc ,who sent me for a Catscan...
Lo and behold, the Catscan showed that I had appendicitis!!!! and I ended up in surgery less than 2 hours later! It all happened sooo fast!

I am home now, after staying in the hospital for 3 LONG days!! After the surgery, due to the painful incisions, I had trouble breathing really deeply and coughing, so I developed a common complication from abdominal surgery, an atelectasis on my left lung. Basically, that is when a small sac on the lung collapses and therefore cannot take in as much oxygen...so I had to remain on nasal cannula oxygen for 2 days in the hospital after the surgery!!!
I cannot tell you how happy I am to be home in my own bed!!! This was my first time as a patient in a hospital, other than giving birth to my kids and I never want to be there again! As an RN, I am much happier on the OTHER side of the bed!!!!
My arms are still bruised all over from all the IV sticks and blood draws! The one good thing though, I was able to stick with the sugar busters plan while in the hospital!! SO , I am pretty proud of myself! I just hope the pain goes away soon! I feel so handicapped now...I cannot even bend down to pick something off the floor. But, I did want to check in and see how everyone else is doing.... I will try to get back online in the next day or so..when I feel more up to it.
Miss you ALL!!!! ~ASHLEY

Toni, you are doing great with getting in your walking. Wish I could say the same. Here comes the weekend, be careful. Let's give it our best shot.

Peggy, I have only heard horror stories about the Ali. Just stay close to a bathroom, or maybe even safer, where depends!! Glad your strep and ear infection is getting better.

Ashley, wow, what a whirlwind you have had. Glad you are on the mend and hope you are back to your old self again soon. Now you can post here more since you can't do a lot at home.

Meowee, we had a bad storm last ngiht and expecting storms all day tomorrow. I hate that for the weekend.

Petra, Have a great weekend.

I am happy to report Rudy is getting better. He still will not walk in the morning. This morning I had to trick him and keep turning around but we got half a walk in. Hopefully by Monday he will be ready to go again. It is really killing me not getting to walk and it is too hot at night. We have a birthday party this Sunday for my great nephew. I overdid at Texas Roadhouse last night and was miserable all night. I really had a big revalation and have decided that whenver we eat out and this includes our vacation I am splitting an entree. I only have 2 weeks until vacation and I wanted to be down 10 lbs. I doubt that is going to happen, but I have 2 pair of pants that are tight in the butt that I would like to wear. So I see a lot of lunges and walking in my future.
Hope everyone has a great weekend,

Hello Friends  !

Solly~~So glad Rudy is some better! I am taking my three dogs with me to TN this weekend but no worry I will most likely be the one that comes back traumatized! Thanks for the good thoughts on getting over the strep and ear infections. It is all but gone! So far the Alli has done nothing to the gastric system other than having to go about within an hour of eating. But other than timing all has been ok. I'll let you know if it turns bad, I think we need to keep each ohter informed on things like this.

We are off to the cabin in the morning and to see the RV we are considering buying. It looks promising in the pictures! We have discussed this for 10 yrs and have finally decided we ARE going to try the RV way of life as often as we can! I may not be back until Tuesday online so I hope you all have great weekends!

Thank you all sooo very much for the well wishes!!! I greatly appreciate it!!!! You guys are THE best!

I am feeling a lot better today, it's amazing how much progress I am making day by day. I did find a new use today for kitchen tongs! I found that it is a great "picker -upper" tool (i think i just made that word up!), whenever you drop something on the floor and cannot bend to pick it up!!!! :-) Perfect help for me now, recovering from surgery!

Meowee....I have to agree with you regarding emergency surgery giving you less time to get too nervous about it...in my case , I had less than 2 hours and that was more than enough for me! I cannot imagine having had to wait overnight..my nerves would have been shot for sure! We have been experiencing thunderstorms here too! The kids love them though! Go figure!

Peggy....You are too funny! Thank you so much for keeping me in your thoughts! You are a doll! I think it's time for me to make more of my special sauce! I have been craving it for a few days now!

Solly....Thanks for so much for your kind wishes , too! I will definitely try to post more now that I am house bound for a bit!

Has anyone tried agave nectar as a sweetener? And, if so , do you like it? Is it good for baking , too?
Hope all of you are doing good this week on SB~

I may need another surgery, so I'm feeling a bit frustrated too. I've been doing pretty well OP. I did have a few cheat days this past week due to my frustration level with not healing properly. I used food as an excuse to be mad at the world. Threw my own little pity party. Thank goodness the scales didn't reflect it, but I probably would have lost some weight instead of staying the same. Well, the pity party's over and I'm back on track. This should be the least of my problems in life.
I probably won't be on again for awhile. I have 2 crazy weeks coming up. I hope you are all doing well, and healing well, Ashley. Hang tough, ladies. Life is one rollercoaster ride, isn't it?
Much love to all,

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Yesterday worked out well for me -- the headache seems to have become a thing of the past this morning and I finally got rid of the water weight and got back to my 214.5 weight again. That gives me an average for June of 218.8 or another 3 pounds sent to ugly-pound-heaven. :yay: Of course, changing scales probably had a lot to do with it, but I've changed my ticker to reflect a new and lower decade at long last; so I really don't care how I got there, I'm claiming it. :D

Looks like we are going to get some "sunny breaks" today to make life worthwhile for all of those who booked off for a four day weekend. Officially, our Canada Day holiday is tomorrow, July 1. It is supposed to stay pretty sticky though and think I'll be sticking close to home and doing the exercising on the Gazelle again.

Hope everybody has a great Monday and decent weather for whatever you have planned. See you later . . .

Man, I just lost my post.

Guess I will start over. Started my morning off with a cervical epidural. I really needed one for my back but will get that next Monday so it is closer to we leave for Florida and will help riding in the car. Weekend was so-so. I have been in a funk since Friday. I think it is "man" induced. I need to shake it soon.

Meowee, Glad your headache and water wt have gone. I deal with the water every Monday. I have to take 3 diuretics each day and it is hard on the weekend with all our running so Monday's the scale really reflects it.

Toni, How was your grocery shopping? I went yesterday and really didn't think I needed that much. Thought the bill would be around $170.00. Ha, it was $305.00. Betweent he cost of gas and rising food costs, I don't know what we are going to do.

Gym, ok, I am going to check on you every day to see if you are 100%OP. You can do it!

Chris, sorry to hear you may need another surgery. I would have been inthe food long ago. Glad your DD is getting better.

Michele, glad you posted. Good luck with your new office. Come back soon.

Ashley, Glad you are seeing some improvement. My dad had one of those "picker-uppers" they work great. I love the Agave. It is great in "Deb's cheesecake" recipe on the board. It is a lot like honey but sweeter. I can only find it at Whole Foods.

Peggy, Wow an RV. How fun. 30 years ago, me & my best friend planned our life of pushing our baby strollers around the mall and driving around all over in an RV with the husbands driving and us in the back making strawberry dacqeries (sp). Funny how life turned out. We both work full time, she had kids later in life and we do not own an RV. Hope it worked out. Enjoy.

Better get some work done. Got to get lots accomplished to leave on vacation in 2 weeks. Have a great day. See you tomorrow.

Good Monday morning. The week end just seemed to fly by. My Army son is stopping by tomorrow evening for a quick over night visit. It will be so good to see him. But I was disappointed when I found out how short his visit will be. So I've got to some things to get ready.

Solly-I know how that goes grocery shopping. We spent a bundle. Monday means back on the treadmill today. Where are you going on vacation.

meowee- I'm glad for you the headache is gone. Hope your week goes well for you.

Gym- Have a good week. Are you moved yet?

Chris- I hope you don't need another surgery. Hope Gable is healing well.

Ok off I go. Talk more later.

HOLY CRAP!! I have been so busy and have missed you guys! I've been poking around the General Chatter area for a while because I really have not been on any healthy eating plan in months. I'm hoping to start a healthy summer starting tomorrow.

Well, in a nutshell, the shop has TAKEN OFF!! I kept wearing the same pants every day thinking they were my lucky pants as every day I wore them I was bringing in big bucks, but then realized its JUNE and the lovely snowbirds have come back needing haircuts!! Unfortunately, so has my allergy/sensitivity to ammonia and chemicals and my hands are a bleeding wreck. I haven't had this problem in over 15 years and I'm not all together sure what to do because I hate living with open sores on my hands.

Derek has been working hard at his new job at Rite Aid....unfortunately, mostly out of town. Such as Michigan, Maine, Cleveland and points in between. But the overtime is getting backed up bills paid off, which is nice.

Shelley is having a rough spring, suffering from anxiety attacks and migraines. She's having a CT scan on her head (how many times do moms of teenagers tell their kids they need their heads examined?) and is seeing a therapist. She hates school and wants to move away to a bigger, more populated school. She feels she doesn't fit in. I'm hoping the therapist can get to the bottom of it.

Kyle is going to the County Fair in the County spelling bee! He won his classroom spelling bee, then the district-wide spelling bee and now he's off the the county fair! One of the judges told me that he's the first 1st grader she's seen from our district to go the fair! We're very proud.

To keep the kids busy, they've started a lemonade/baked goods stand. Shelley does all the baking herself (she's making chocolate chip cookies as we speak!) and Kyle, well, we're lucky if we can get him to sit in his seat for more than five minutes. But they've made $39 in two days!! Shelley sells out of her goods. Friday she had molasses cookies and brownies made from scratch. She's a VERY good baker.

On the diet side of things, I've been totally horrible, getting what I can when I can. But tomorrow, Shelley and I are trying again to get down to business. We both are going to try to loose 10 pounds. We got the WiiFit and love it, but it works best if you use it. Tomorrow, we're also going to start with a walk/run/jog after work. I hope it sticks and we can get back into a healthy lifestyle.

Okay...just wanted to check in. Lots of new faces here! Nice to see the board moving!!

I hope to come by more often and post my menu for the day...starting tomorrow.

TTFN!!

OK, I don't know what the heck I just did, but I wanted to write more than that!!
Things are going fairly well here. I may have finally landed myself a job:cheer: I go back Wednesday morning fora second interview. So I'll keep you posted.
Tech-I'm so happy to hear that business is booming!! I'd come in for a color and cut if I lived closer to you:D I hope Shelly gets through this tough time that comes with adolescence. Gable suffers from depression that began around 12 yrs old. She doesn't like change and we had a move, new school, got her period, and had her heart broken around 14 yrs old. She's much better today, but still refuses to talk with a therapist. She is very headstrong and doesn't feel comfortable talking with "strangers." We did put her on anti-depressants, and it changed her life. She feels so much better now and they have no effect on her energy level or overall state of mind, other than she copes better with things now. To be honest though, I'm a little scared when she goes to college in August. Even though she already has friends on her soccer team there, I still think I'm going to have a lot of crying phone calls. She's also unhappy that she can't play her first season at college, so that gets her down a lot. Shelly will pull through. It is not easy being a teenager today. I always tell Gable, "this too shall pass," and it does her a world of good. The best thing for Shelly, IMHO to do, is to listen to her and be her support system. Anxiety is closly related to depression, so it's great that she sees a therapist. All will work itself out, I promise.
Well, I have to finish cleaning up my house now. I did half of it yesterday and I'm determined to get the other half done today, and give my 2 dirty doggies a bath!!
Oh, I also lost 1 pound.:carrot:
Have a great day everyone.

Hi there TECH . . . glad to see you . . . boy you have all been having a busy time. I've got WiiFit as well and have to agree it works a lot better when you use it -- for some reason I've been spending most of my time with my Gazelle lately. I tend to go in spurts.

Hi Chris . . . congratulations on that pound.

Okay . . . big :grouphug: for everybody and here's a link to the new JULY chat thread . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2249771#post2249771 . . . see you over there soon.
