100 lb. Club - Met a major goal and let down by the reward.

This morning when I weighed in I was very happy. This week I hit the 100 lbs lost mark. When I started this journey I decided that when I had lost 100 lbs I would reward myself with a mini shopping spree. I was really excited when I set out for the mall. I decided to try Victoria Secrets and did get some cute panties but was greatly disappointed that they didn't have any bras that were big enough to fit me. I have no idea why that upset me so greatly. When I started this I was a 46F and now I am a 40DD. I am proud of what I have done so far and I know that I can reach all of my goals but it really hit me hard. It hit me hard that I still have so much to lose and that even after losing so much I can't shop in normal stores. I don't know if Victoria Secrets bras will ever fit me. I hope that some day soon they will but if they don't I can't let this keep me down.

:yay: :celebrate: :yay:

:congrat: on the 100lbs lost!!!!!!!!

Don't worry about VS... their bras are all wonky & strange... and quite frankly, I never bought into anything about them being the best. (There are plenty of online stores that have sexier things that actually fit me proper...)

Hey don't be disappointed it must just be the store you went to. Victoria Secret definitely sells 40 DD- go to the online store they have great bras in 40DD

Wow on the 100 pounds!! I can't wait for that day to come! I'm sorry you were kind of let down...but you are so close! I'm an E and what I wouldn't do to be able to wear any DD cup. Keep up the excellent work and focus on all that you've done for yourself!

What a great accomplishment! Please don't let the fashion industry take away from your happiness.

Honestly, even when I could fit in them (a looooong time ago), I always through VS bras were poorly made and not supportive. I'm a 40DD too and I buy gorgeous bras at Lane Bryant that are great. Yes, it's a plus size store, but I see skinny girls with big chests in there buying bras all the time.

There are many, many stores with cute bras. Don't be down about ONE store not having anything to fit. I am currently in a 34DD after losing almost 80 lbs. And I have a VERY, VERY hard time finding a bra that I like.
Congrats on your loss - it is an EXTREMELY FANTASTIC and COLOSSAL accomplishment. Do not let ANYTHING diminish your joy - you deserve to be very, very happy and proud.

First off - congratulations and :bravo: on the 100 pounds! That is an awesome accomplishment!

I'm sorry your goal was disappointing to you. I would try another store, even a Bali store has plenty of cute and sexy bras in your size. Forget VS!

You have accomplished so much -- don't let one bad moment get you down! I'm like you, if I had something special planned, I would be so excited to make it there and so disappointed to be let down. But, even with our weight loss, sometimes the direction we think we should take gets a little detoured and that's okay, there's always more options. I would come up with a new reward and have at it!!

Great job!!

Congrats on the 100lbs lost!! Amazing!!

As for the bra situation... I can fit into Victoria Secret bra's, but I HATE them! Not enough support for my DD's! Lane Bryant has better push up bra's, WAY better, I have my skinny friends wearing them! Baffles me how my tiny friend wears a 38DD, but she does! I hope that I can always get my bra's from there, my girls have never looked better!

Congratulations!!!

Don't worry about VS. It is definitely not all it is cracked up to be. I actually had one...a while ago...and I hated it also! I do know what you mean though... everyone talks about VS and you just wanted the chance to buy it. I say it is still a victory because you got panties!! I will take sexy panties from a normal store any day over a bra. I can find sexy bras in big sizes not panties!

I had to quit shopping at VS when I was in high school, because once I got to a 34 C it was impossible to even find anything in their selection that went up to THAT size in store. Now that I'm at a 34 D (My highest weight was 170 and it's all in my big ole 'baby bearing hips') I don't even bother. It's just SO disappointing. I bought a ton of panties from them before I headed to college last summer, and I actually don't like any of them anymore. They're all cut strange, and fit me in a weird way. I'm giving up on VS unless they make a huge change to their product line, because they really let me down. I'm very sorry to hear that they let YOU down as well.

Congratulations on your weight loss! You're doing an incredible job!! I hope you find a new special treat that kicks butt compared to VS.

Are there any other stores you ladies can recommend? My friend and I were measuring our bra sizes not two hours ago, and she's at a 40DD and has nooo idea where to shop. We're making a day of underwear shopping on Friday, so I'd love some recommendations.

Hope you feel better soon ahill1979!

WOW!!!! :cp::cp::bravo::cp::cp:

It's a wonderful accomplishment. There are plenty of stores with panties that are cute - try Catherines, Lane Bryant and more.

I too dislike VS. Also, my sister, who has never been overweight in her life, has never been able to buy bras there! For those of us bountifully endowed girls...it's not the place.

I buy at Nordstrom's and specialty department stores. Don't buy strictly by size. Spend the money to go somewhere with someone who knows what they are doing and be measure properly...sizes in bras vary as much as other clothes!

That aside, I know the feeling that no matter how successful we are it is still not enough. I really want to shop anywhere, not just in specialty stores for large sizes. The last time I lost weight I got into Chico's size 3 (and 3.5s which they no longer make.) I was so excited I almost bought out the store! Then, feeling good, I went into Coldwater Creek, and nothing fit. I just want to be able to shop anywhere and find something that fits, not have to look for plus size stores.

Pick a new reward!

Whatever you do, don't feel that this success "isn't good enough." If you have, or are prone to any health problem that is caused or worsened by extra body weight, those first 100 lbs were your most important. If you don't lose another pound, you have given yourself a huge reward just in the pressure taken off of your knees.

You can't really count on "mainstream America" to help you reward yourself. If you read the popular magazines, size 4 actresses and models are called fat if they are photographed with even a dimple on their thighs.

That being said, I do understand. I long to be able to fit in off-the-rack plus sizes. It's possible that when I've lost my first 100 lbs, that I won't fit (or will just barely fit) into a 26/28 the highest commonly available plus size. After my first 100, I'll still have almost 150 still to go.

I think losing weight is like climbing down a long, steep ladder, when you're afraid of heights. Looking down at how far you still have to go, can make you sick, or even paralyze you with fear. So you have to look up to how much progress you've made, rather than down at how far the ground is below.

Congratulations on the 100 pounds- how wonderful! Nothing should throw that into a less than wonderful light- nothing.

VS bras aren't all they're cracked up to be. I can't recall ever seeing anything bigger than 36C there. I agree with everyone else in celebrating with a different sexy bra.

Kaplods, you are freaking brilliant.

:bravo: on the weight loss!!

I get my bras at Nordstroms and love them. They have trained fitters and wonderful, sexy bras. VS may advertise more, but you can find good-fitting, cute bras at many stores so get yourself that fun reward!

:bravo: on your accomplishment!!! It sucks when the expectation is a huge letdown. I remember when they first said they had "plus size" available at VS. It sucked that all my skinny friends could get tons of cute stuff there and I think I found one bra and no matching panties and that's when I wore a size 9 panty and 36DD bra. Like the others have said, they aren't the end all be all of sexiness and there are tons of other places that can outfit you in sexy without feeling like you are still too big to wear it. Keep your chin up.

:woohoo: :cheer: :carrot: :broc: YOU'VE LOST 100 POUNDS!!!!!!! :woohoo: :cheer: :carrot: :broc:

YEAYYYYY on the 100!

When I hit my 100 I bought a bike. :)

If your unhappy with your reward maybe think of a little bonus to add to it? And you can get VS bras online in that size if you really want one.

hey sweetie. VS is overrated.

Try hipsandcurves.com
I know you're disappointed, but you've come soooo far.
Don't let that ugly store ruin it for you. (and shop around online I have found some AMAZING places to buy panties for curvy girls).

A big Thank You to all of you. This evening I realize how silly it was to get so upset over the VS thing. I guess I just let emotions get the best of me. The good news is that I didn't turn to food for comfort like I used to. Instead I came here and posted my whiny stuff. Thank you all for being there and giving me encouraging words. You are all wonderful and help me more than you could ever know.

OMG congratulations! 100 lbs is an amazing accomplishment!

Victoria's Secret is fine and all, but I find their bras to be a little on the .... flimsy... side, actually. I'm a 36D and I feel like I'm spilling out of their bras, even after being professionally measured by the woman, etc. I prefer Lane Bryant -- their bras are cute and they hold up.

One Hundred Pounds! Wow!! You deserve to hold your head up high with pride! Oh, and VS? They are just a crummy store with a sexy marketing line. And, they can be mean. I was trying to find a nice, comfy white cotton bra to give a smooth look under T-shirts, and the sales-child at VS told me that they were "designed with a younger woman's figure in mind". I'm a 34B. Much younger than that, and I'll be concave. I'm now a happy girl in a Wonderbra. Take that, VS!

It wasn't silly! What you've done is amazing, and you deserve to reward yourself. When the reward you've been looking forward to lets you down, that's a big disappointment. But I'm very glad you're feeling better!
