When I got a primary care physician (I guess that's a family doctor? Takes care of all your basic needs), I had a physical exam and I didn't remove body hair before the exam. I think that is how she suspected I had PCOS. Then she referred me to an endocrinologist who did blood tests. But I hear that these days, they diagnose PCOS based on the signs and symptoms of PCOS and not on the bloodwork. You might try to research it a bit before you go so you know what tests to ask for, or explain the disease to your doctor in case he/she is a bit ignorant about it. Tell them you are concerned you might have a hormonal disorder and would like to see an endocrinologist. Because there are other hormonal disorders that need to be ruled out before making a diagnosis of PCOS, such as adrenal gland disorders like Cushings disease.
