Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend :) Mondays are always rough, but on the positive side it is FINALLY beautiful weather in Chicago.

Anyone have any big Mother's Day plans coming up? I of course have a day of eating (like every other family affair), yuck. Brunch with one side of the family and then BBQ with the other side of the family. Not sure how I'm going to calorie count that one... I also have my best friend's birthday the night before, tapas and sangria hmmm once again planning will be difficult. Looks like I'm in for an interesting weekend.

Happy Monday!! :D

CookieMonster416- glad you have nice weather! Ours is a bit chilly, but not too bad.

No big mother's day plans, my husband has to work 11 hours that day.. from 8am-7pm  He's a fast food manager and his boss put him on- which is weird, she usually tries to give "small holidays" off for the people who have families. But, oh well. Alexis and I might go visit him at work and have dinner there that night, so we at least see him :) And then just go home with him when he's done. He has the Tuesday following mother's day off, so we're all going out as a family then.

As far as me- I'm great! Today was weigh in and I lost 2 pounds even :hyper: to bring me to 12 pounds, total. SO pleased with that!!

I hope everyone has a great Monday, and week!

Just a quick check-in b/c I'm meeting the bf for dinner...but I finally went to the gym and re-weighed in...I'm up 2 lbs, but that's really okay. The hours during rehearsals/shows were so crazy that I was eating whatever/whenever, so I'm really not that upset about the gain. After finals this week, I'll have a lot more time to devote to planning, cooking, etc., so I'm sure those 2 will come off pretty quickly.

Hope everyone has had a not-too-stressful Monday!

Hi everybody!

I'm at even for weight gain for last month. Didn't lose, didn't gain, but I'm more toned on my arms and legs. I'm just happy I'm recovering from my bout with pneumonia. I can finally walk again without feeling like my lungs are about to burst and I'm not coughing every other minute.

Erika79: I used to work fast food (for about two months). It was.. interesting.

sexybrokechick -- just because you didn't lose weight doesn't mean you're not doing well, especially if you've been so sick!! You probably lost fat and gained muscle and it just happened to even out. Usually I gain weight when I'm sick because I don't eat enough, and what I do eat is ice cream and other things that aren't so fab.......but I'm glad to hear you're feeling better!

Erika-- it's too bad you can't go out with hubby for Mother's Day, but I think the important part is that you celebrate it, not that you celebrate it on the right day!! And congrats on the loss!

Sorry I kindof went MIA last week, the stress of finals. Well I survived only to start back up today with my internship (same one as last semester). I’m happy though because that will be all that I am doing so I can focus on it and have some time to relax, I need to majorly clean my apartment (it’s trashed) and then start back at the gym. I think I will only be at my internship until 3 so that leaves me time to get to the gym. I got offered to extend my trip to New York I was suppose to go for three days, which was extended to 4 then 6 now 9. I have the option to say no but in all reality I can’t say no to a free 9 day trip to New York in which I’m only going to have to work for 3 days.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!!!

Cookie – Um that is really hard on both accounts.

Erika – Good job losing 2 pounds.

Arts - Good luck on finals!!!

Sexy – Being more tone is an accomplishment even if you didn’t lose weight.

Remember- free 9 day trip to NY?! Wow! I wouldn't say no for anything to that. That's one place I want to go... so many Korean restaurants and stuff. lol

Sexy- Glad to hear that you are feeling better!

Erika- 2 lbs! That's GREAT! It seems like you will have no problem getting to the first goal! =)

Well, for me.. I work on Sundays so I don't think we will have anything big for Mother's day on Sunday. I'm the "mom" in my "family" and my mom is a Korean.. We don't have Mother's Day, but we do have Parents' Day, which is on May 8. So I will just call my parents and say hi or something like that. For the last two years, they were alone because my brother was studying in Japan, but he's back to Korea now...so at least they will have him.

I gained some this week...Although I'm little bit down about it, it's only 0.8 lbs, and I did lose 3.4 lbs last week, which was during TOM. Since I didn't gain any before TOM and lost so much, I'm trying to tell myself that it's all good, and at least I didn't gain all of the 3.4 lbs or more. =)

This is my final week for the semester, and the final paper is due Wednesday and I haven't even started yet. (It was 8 week class and assignments are given weekly) So I will be busy tomorrow and Wednesday. Wednesday is also my monthly weigh-in at the gym, so I've been trying to be good today and am going to try my BEST to be good tomorrow.. :D

Good luck to everyone taking finals!

I used to be sooo bad with my health during the finals weeks. I completely stopped working out and would basically open a big of chips and order an XL pizza and just snack on those through out the day... Good thing I'm not in college anymore. Although, the workplace has its own temptations.

I'm very excited because tomorrow I'm trying this Cardio Kick class with someone I work with. I've never done an exercise class so should be interesting.

not having a good week and feel like banging my head into a wall. i will not change my ticker cause i know 4 pounds will not cling to my butt for long. plus i'm trying to drink more water and less soda which is making for crabby mommy.
as for mothers day blah dh doesnt celebrate iti'll prolly get a happy mothers day said to me on his way out the door or before bed(this happened last year he makes no effort for me but would call his mom no prob)

hey gals... im a newbie to this forum ... ok if i jump right in?

ive been following atkins.. for a couple weeks.. im bored already.. think im gonna bite the bullett and eat healthily.. and exercise like crazy! i think that will ensure long term losses? what do u think?

05-06-2008, 06:18 PM
I think that is a great idea! Personally, the only way to truly lose weight for good is to adapt a healthy lifestyle. I just have not found "diets" where you have to restrict things to work. I actually REALLY like calorie counting. I keep a journal and am able to plan weekly menus.

05-06-2008, 07:53 PM
yesterday was good and today i have a major case of the munchies. it happens. after i do my exercising they usually go away. so that is what i am off to do.

05-06-2008, 08:01 PM
ive been following atkins.. for a couple weeks..

If you don't me asking, did you drop a lot of weight in the first few weeks? I've done low cal, low fat, everything you can think of except low carb, and I am STUCK in the 140s. Every week it'll bounce up and down a few pounds, between 141-144. Been there now for about 4 weeks and it's driving me insane.
I work out like a mad man on my treadmill for almost 2 hours everyday and burn nearly 700 calories a day so it has to be my diet. Even though I count calories and stay between 1300-1500. And I thought that was low. I wanna try low carb now, but as a Vegetarian, the only foods that are low carb I can find are salad, green beans, eggs, and cheese and I'm not happy eating just that but I'm about to give up completely. :(

05-06-2008, 10:29 PM
I'm with you PrettyPaula, I'm a newbie too! :)

Hope it's ok if I jump right in after ya!

05-06-2008, 11:34 PM
Hey everyone! This is quick, no replies. I can't work out yet because of the illness, maybe tomorrow or Thursday.

I just ordered a digital camera tonight and it should be in at the end of the week. So happy, I can now take pics of my body for comparison. Yay!

Yay! I have a digital camera already and should take pics of myself for comparison, too... I did find a picture I will use for "Before", though...and can't wait to take a pic for "After"!! =)

RemeberHowToSmile- I sure wouldn't pass up a free trip to NY! Is this NYC??

taragettingthin- Aw, sorry you have to work on mother's day. Sorry about the gain, as well, sounds like your positive about it though... and that's great! You're right... it's a small one, and it'll be off before you know it.

lissa9501- so sorry you're having a rough week  I hope the next one is better for you!

PrettyPaula- of course you can join in! welcome!! :D I think if you're truly bored of Atkins, you need to switch to something different. You have to stick with something that doesn't bore you, because you will need to do this for life, so it stays off for life. Finding something you can do forever is really important, so you're not having a huge struggle. I count calories and exercise... I LOVE it.

BellyUp- welcome!!! :D

Happy Wednesday! (although I would be even happier if it was Friday...)

I can't wait until June 1 because then we can start taking summer fridays off. We get 5 between June 1 and September 1. Speaking of summer, I'm trying to break in all of my summer shoes, a rather painful process. Lots of bandaids!

I am so tempted to take a "personal day." We get unlimited sick days meaning I never use them. I wake up and want to just call in sick, but I always feel bad. Like why should I not have to go to work when everyone else in the world does? I've just been so worn down though that it would be nice.

Very excited for my Cardio Kick class today!!! I've never done a group class before, I always just do the eliptical in the morning.

05-07-2008, 03:09 PM
So today was my official monthly weigh-in at my gym.. Compared to Monday, which is my own home weigh-in day, I lost 1.8 lbs and saw the Onederland but I'm not going to be excited about it till I see it at my home because it is different scale, after one. Well, as far as inches, I'm 4 more inches down since the 7th of last month. In total, I'm 12.5 inches down in 2 months! I can kind of tell but not that much...but it surely makes me feel good, though. =)

Other than that... I have a final paper due tonight for my class and I'm only about half or little more done. So I'm little bit stressed about it. I haven't had anything to eat yet so I better get going for now. (I wake up around 11-12 so this is only my breakfast. heh)

I will come back later, though.

05-07-2008, 05:35 PM
hey all! thanks for the fab welcome

my scale read 209 today BUT i am not gonna feel down as i know that is just my glycogen stores refilling after coming off of atkins.

Atkins is great if you can stick to it, but i find it so restrictive and right now i have exams, i just dont have time to plan every single thing and spend hours in supermarkets.

you do lose alot of weight but once you go back to adding in healthy carbs for me i just gain it back again.. so i want to do it the right way... no more than 1500 cals per day and exercise.

today has been another gorgeous day here in england, think we are having a mini heatwave! 24 degrees centigrade! gorgeous blue skies :)

We had to visit the hospital today for fiance, thankfully he has had the all clear but we had a bit of a heart scare there!

today i have clocked up 1468 cals, 1 mile walk, 10 mins on cardio cruiser machine, free arm weights and 15 minute pilates legs and abs work out routine

i'm planning on buying a couple more workout DVDs when i get paid... i want a kick boxing one i think!

also my wii fit should arrive this week and i cant wait! how was everyones day?

05-08-2008, 04:26 AM
hey guys, pretty- i have never done atkins i was just wondering what is so great about it????
damn exams making us all so stressed out. i have about 5 days untill i can weigh myself for the first time im hoping for a big loss, especially if i manage to complete 2 more workouts
anyway guys have a good day i have a busy one :-s

05-09-2008, 11:29 PM
Ooooooooh I'm not doing so hot...

I've had a bad few days in terms of eating, and bf leaves tomorrow (I only binge when he's not here -- he'll be gone for 10 days...). I'm really looking forward to being able to get back to the gym now that school's done (LAST FINAL WAS TODAY!! WOOHOO!!!).

I'm up 2 lbs from my lowest due to the crazy schedule I had for a while (I wrote about this earlier)...I just don't want to completely undo all the good I've done.

05-10-2008, 03:07 PM
Hey everyone, busy week not much time to check in here. I have been doing pretty well on staying op except Thurday I had two big fruity daquire things at a baseball game (last minute invite) and Friday I went an outdoor weekend long concert and did something like 7 shots in two hours, bad idea. I then stopped drinking but had this potato chip with sour cream, cheese, ect. Granted I did a lot of waking around both days that made for lots of extra calories :(

So today I went and worked out for 38 minutes. I know 38 is a weird time but I'm trying to use the eclipitical machine and I could only do 3 minutes before I had to stop so then I went and got on the bike. I'm hoping for more like 5-10 tomorrow I think I shouldn't have used a high setting on my first time.

05-10-2008, 09:50 PM
PrettyPaula: My mom did Atkins for a long time, and she lost around 20 pounds but she quit it too because it was too restricting! Don't feel bad, you'll lose again soon!

Freethetoys: Tell me about it! I have a huge paper due on Tuesday that is 30 percent of my grade and I have no idea how to do it! It is for a math lab class for sociology...pretty much the biggest stressor of my life right now. That and that fact that I have a paper due on Thursday that is over a 17 page article, a 30 page article, and a 400 page book which I haven't read ANY of yet because she didn't assign them until last week. So you and me both!

artsnsmarts: I have been FIGHTING binging these last couple days as well. Yesterday I was thisclose to binging. I seriously physically got the cereal down and was about to eat it, and thankfully my boyfriend stopped me. I gained 2 pounds from my lowest as well due to so much stress! We can get through this though! I keep trying to tell myself that the scale doesn't matter, only feeling healthier does.

Remember: 7 shots in two hours..you remind me of myself! Last weekend my roomate and I took 6 shots in about 5 minutes before we went inside the club! I actually didn't feel so drunk though...I probably would've ate as well, but I was too tired at the end of the night to do anything but sleep!

~~Well as for me, here is something that you all might relate to! My roommate and I looked for apartments in the midtown area for 4 hours today, and the only two that we definitely liked are giving us crap about having a cosigner. One of them straight out told us we can't have the apartment. The other one is giving us all this crap about it. We only work part time because we are going to college, so our parents help us with the rent. SO our parents usually cosign. It's so stressful!

05-10-2008, 09:52 PM
Hi everyone! hope its okay too, me jumping in as well. Love this post, feels so warm and friendly. I have lost a total of 12 pounds in 3 weeks just by calorie counting and exercising. Can't wait until that first moment where I can go shopping in the NORMAL section. Ahh the day will come. Good luck ladies!

05-11-2008, 10:15 PM
Hello everyone! Hope you had a great Mother's Day!
Today was supposed to be my "rest" day according to the workout calendar for my TransFirmation. Well, as I haven't been to the Circuit Training since Wednesday, (I do 3 times/week), I didn't want to rest today. So I did 30 minutes of "10 Minute Solution" and did about 5 minutes of "invisible" jumping rope. Jumping rope sure does its magic...I broke sweat in no time!
I think I'm going to start doing some jumping rope daily... At least 300 of them, even if it's only for couple minutes.
