Hello everyone!! Just stopping by real quick to say Hola!!

just popping in here while I have a second.

we have a first birthday party to go to sometime today.....Tommy is off gallivanting somewhere with the boys. he claims he was going to the dumpster but Logan took off after him so I had to run in my slippers just to catch up to him! then of course Brandon followed right behind us.

we went to the race track last night, and I convinced Tommy to place a bet on the Derby. We won! Our horse, Big Brown, won the derby! Tommy has been bugging me to go to the casino but I don't see a point in it, now going to the track, that is something different! we hung around there for a little bit so the kids could see some of the horses that were there doing live racing. then we left because it started to get really windy.

we talked to the set of godparents that work there, and right now we are trying to set up a little date night for me and Tommy and them this coming Saturday. We are either going to go to the movies and possibly dinner. Or dinner and then a place here called Dave and Busters. We have to get a sitter first, which I am hoping that we can get!

gotta cut this short, I have a curly haired little princess that just fell asleep in the walker.

Hi.

I'd like to join. I'm not on a diet, but I'm eating more sensibly and in moderation. About 5 or 6 weeks ago, I got started exercising regularly until I started having a lot of sinus problems. I've still been losing (based on the way my clothes look), but I had fallen off the exercise wagon. I'm getting back to it tomorrow though.

This is my second day on the Master Cleanse. I'd read that it helps to really flush out mucous. That's my main goal with the Master Cleanse. Weight loss would be an added bonus, but I need to get my sinus problems under control. They either prevent me from exercising because I feel bad, or the meds make me too sleepy or nauseous to exercise. So I'm attempting 10 days. If all goes well, then I'll do it once every three months. All that aside, I'd really love to join your group. I could certainly use the support and I'd love to give it others.

My usual eating goes like this:
Breakfast: Nuts and fruit
Snack: Yogurt or Fruit
Lunch: Turkey or Chicken with rice or salad. Sometimes I have a pita sandwich that I make from home.
Snack: Yogurt or Fruit
Dinner: Fish, Turkey or Chicken with veggies, rice or salad.

My exercise:
Monday - Friday: Two or three Miles either with Leslie Sansone or at the track. I try to do Callanetics in the mornings, but it usually only happens once or twice week.

Saturday (sometimes): Rollerskating or water aerobics.

Hi Ladies~I hope everyone is having a wonderful evening

Amanda~ Welcome to our group. Jump in and make some great friends. It will be fun getting to know ya. What is the Master Cleanse you are doing?

Trish~ Yes, my middle name is Ann. I did not think Patricia was a popular name. I am finding out that it is. I went to urgent care this afternoon. There are two of us waiting to see the doctor. The nurse calls Patricia. I get up and so does the other lady. Then she calls the last name. They were very close also!!! Kinda freaked me out. If you are looking for great rose bushes at a budget price try Wal Mart, Meijer, or Rural King. They run $4.96 a rosebush. Same as the $12.95 ones at the nursery. Mine are all growing, made it through the cold Indiana winter. I bought all 7 tomato plants there last year. Had more tomotatoes than I could ever us. See what you can find.

Mindee~ CONGRATS on the 50 pounds gone. You rock!! Sounds like Brandon has got the terrible 2's!! The 3's are iffy too.

Everyone~Keep up the good work--don't want to leave out anyone.

At the urgent care office I had a long talk with the doctor. He said this is posion ivy; not oak:?:. He gave me a stronger rx for Prednisone and take it for a longer time. He also ordered Benedryl for the itch. I told him the itch had to go NOW. He gave me some helpful tips, I left. Not to use the topical cream. I can shower, oh sweet shower! No more sponge baths. My heart goes out to any other chick that is suffering from posion ivy, oak, or sumack. It is torture. Sorry for whinning--I am over it now ;). I am finally getting some relief, hopefully I can get some much needed sleep tonight.

Then look out!!! I am planting what ever I can get put in the ground.

Talk to you all tomorrow. Thank you everyone. Pat

Patty and Dixie - Thanks for the welcome ladies. I love the way this thread moves.

Dixie, the Master Cleanse is supposed to clear your body of toxins and congestion. It's also supposed to cleanse your kidneys, liver, glands, colon and joints. It also allows your digestive system to rest. It helps to clear your complexion too. It's supposed to be done for 10 - 40 days. I'm only doing 10. I'm sure you've heard of it before. It's also called the Lemonade Diet and has been around for years. It works like this:

Before bed - 1 cup of Smooth Move (or laxative tea)

Salt water flush 1st thing in the morning - 1 quart of lukewarm water with teaspoons of sea salt.

Throughout the day you have 6 - 12 glasses of the Master Cleanse Lemonade. The recipe is 10 oz of water, 1 oz of fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice, 1 oz of grade b maple syrup and an 1/10 teaspoon of powered cayenne pepper.

You then break the fast over 3 days. The first day you have as much freshly squeezed orange juice mixed with equal part water. The second day you have the orange juice full strength. The third day you have orange juice in the morning, fresh fruit for lunch and a salad for dinner. By the fourth day you can ease back into eating normally.

If I make it all the way through like I plan, I'm going to do something really nice for myself. Like pedicure or new outfit. I think I'll deserve it. :D

Amanda~ welcome to the group! that sounds like a great plan!! good luck with it!

Pat~ Thanks for the congrats. I have been some of that 50 pounds back on, but it was due to being pregnant with Logan and Marissa. Thankfully, I didn't balloon up after having my tubes tied which I was fearing that I would! Now, I just need to get back into the swing of things as far as exercise, water and eating healthier!

Mornin' All. :coffee:

This will be a quickie since I am getting ready to go to bed..........(I work nights for anybody who doesn't know)

Well today DH took a personal day and we went out for dinner, went to a seafood place. DH had Citrus Crusted Tilapia. OMG Ya'all it was soooooo good! I wished I had gotten it! I got Shrimp Etoufee, it was ok but nothing as good as DH's Tilapia. I am in  with fish now. Told dh we got to get some!!! :carrot: He also had Zucchini with it but it was very very bland, not spices, etc. Then we went to Wally World, got a few things. I got myself an electric razor. Gonna try it out......You can use it in the shower........So we shall see!!! lol. I didn't get my bike :bike: yet.........

Well that is about it. Have to get some Zzzzzzz's so I can bright eyed and bushy tailed for work tonight. :p This will be my last week with this schedule. New schedule starts next week........On Sunday Night.

Have a Great Day!

Good morning, ladies,

I'm in a hurry (aren't I always!) but wanted to peek in and say hi. Also wanted to say that those that want to be a part of it, we can have a personal challenge right here in this thread. My daily goals for the week is to:

stay within WW points
do some deliberate exercise/strength training
journal food

Since I don't have a problem with drinking plenty of water, or taking my vitamin, I'm not listing those as a goal. Now, let's see how many days this week I make the listed goals. I won't be counting points, just keeping track of how I'm doing. Wish me luck!

Btw, welcome Amanda! I live in Indiana, and know all about sinus troubles. I've found that the worse my sinuses are, the worse my dark circles are. :dizzy: Nothing like feeling miserable and looking tired, too, lol.

Hello to everyone! I'll try to do indies later. Tomorrow I'll have Jackson, ( :carrot: ) so may not be able to post.

Hey...I just got back from the ER. I was there for 3 hours!!!! I was there for 2reasons. 1-I started feeling these really sharp stomach pains and I was literly on the floor crawling crying because it hurt so much. And 2-because of that pain, I freaked out and had a panic attack. Then they had to give me oxygen because I couldnt catch my breath after having a 2nd panic attack while they tried to put an IV in me.

They did an ultrasound on my stomach and couldnt find anything wrong. They just think that I had a bad reaction to the food I ate last night, and probably had a little stomach bug. Which sounded like bs to me..but whatever. They gave me some meds to take if it happens again. I dont like the Naval hospital ER very much..but at least I have some meds, lol.

I'm gonna go try to get some sleep right now. I hope Fonzo calls me soon..

Hi ladies,

Welcome Amanda...you are right, this tread moves at a very quick pace. But there is great motivation here.

Sassy, sounds like a very nice dinner. I like tilapia, Applebees has a Cajun Lime Tilapia that I love.

Pat, hope your poison ivy gets better soon. I've only had it once and that was enough. Luckily I didn't have a bad case of it.

Mindee, Congrats on the winnings at the races. We have casinos here also. DH won big a few years ago, but I was in school full time and not working so it went fast!!!

Well, I'm off to see the doctor this afternoon. I'm still having a problem with the sore left shoulder, arm and neck. I haven't played the Wii in over a week, last week when I went to the emergency room (sudden nausea and left shoulder, thought it was the heart) the doctor said it was muscular skeletal, but the muscle relaxers and the anti imflamatory he gave me aren't helping.
So, maybe I can get it an xray so they can determine what is really wrong. I'm thinking arthritis, torn or pulled muscle (maybe) or a disc in my neck. I sure hope it isn't the latter.

Talk to you girls later.

OH Jane, good luck on your goals are to stay within points this week and get more exercise!

well, I feel like little Miss Susie Homemaker today. I have a chicken with redskin potatoes and vegetables in the crock pot cooking away! I called our worker on the kids insurance, and she claimed that it got canceled because we never gave her the new address. Which is BS because any time she sent us paper work to fill out, I made sure to put the new address on it! She said that she would change it in their system and it will be retroactive from May 1st. I am going to call back in a couple of days to make sure that it was taken care of so that we can go ahead and scheduled Brandon's ENT appointment.

Brandon made this really cute lily pad at school! It is a paper plate, that has a v shape cut out of it. He then painted it green, glued a pink tissue paper to it (as a flower) and then glued a frog to the plate.

Francie~ I hope you are feeling better now! My goodness you have been through the ringer!

Sassy~ I hope you are getting your rest that you need!

I have been doing the 2 mile Walk N Tone with Leslie Sansone in the morning and I am thinking of walking around the complex at night to boost my exercising and to see if it will help me out with my sleeping. With being sick and all, my sleep has been off. The past two nights I took a sinus/allergy pill and it helped me with my sleeping AND with my congestion and what not. But now that they are outside cutting the grass today, I can pretty much guarantee that I will need another pill tonight! (I have my mom's allergy to grass/trees and such)

Pat~ My FIL won a good amount about an year or so ago. Then his lung collapsed and he went into the hospital twice in a two month time span for the same thing. so his winnings helped with that.....among some other things!

Hola Amigas! Happy Cinco De Mayo!!! :yay:

I got my rest. I woke up feeling yucky and icky. But amazingly after I got to work, I felt 100% better. :)

Francie -- I sure can sympathize with ya. I've had stomach problems for a long time. But all I can say is be persistant. If you have anymore pains, go to the ER again. I say this because I had 7 ulcers in my stomach and now they are gone but just you know your body better than anybody, so if you feel pain that isn't right, go to the ER and be persistent. I know its frustrating. I hope you get some rest and feel better. What meds did they give you? If I may ask? My dr gives me a standing order of Phenergan, anti-nausea medicine. It makes me very very sleepy though so I only take it when absolutely necessary.........

Big

Short&Sassy: Thanks yes it was delicious and healthy at that! Who would have thought that I would have loved something healthy that much? lol. But that is good. Just shows I can do it. ;) About your pain: I know I am not a dr, but my DH had simular pain and it was his gallbladder. Just something for them to check out if they can't find anything else. ;)

Amanda: :welcome2:

Hi Jane.......Bye Jane! lol.

Mindee - Mmm sounds tasty. WTG on the exercise! Now can you give me some motivation? lol. I did get my rest, thanks. :)

Sassy, thanks for the tip, but my gall bladder is already gone!! LOL I went to my dr this afternoon. He thinks it is muscle spasms, told me to stay on the anti inflamatory and then preceded to put me on high blood pressure medicine. He did promise that if I lose all the weight I could get off of it to see if it will go back to normal!! I resisted as long as I could, but I know that it's time to admit that I have it and get it down with medication! He also said my blood sugar was slightly elevated, I think normal is 100 and under and mine was 104...another reason to stick to what I've been doing so I can lose the other 46 pounds!!

Ok, so last night I had a dream that I was Beyonce (who did the Master Cleanse to lose 22 pounds for the Dream Girls movie). I was driving down the freeway and in the grassy divider, I saw an open bag of Peanut M&Ms. I pulled over to eat them. I didn't care that the bag was open and half eaten...

Hello Everyone. Thanks for welcoming me so kindly. I love this thread already. I took a gander at the recipes last night. I can't wait to try them. I especially can't wait to make that crunchy chicken wrap sandwich with the coleslaw mix and walnuts. I think I could eat something like that everyday. About a year and a half ago, I posted on this site regularly, but I never made it over to Jaded Ladies. I wish I had. BTW, my serpentine belt snapped today on my car. Car trouble is so depressing. I immediately wanted to eat something greasy, salty, hot and cheesy. I had to talk myself out of it.

Tommysgirl - Judging from the dinner you made, you're definitely making healthier food choices. Don't you love crock pots? I mentioned to some people that I wanted crock pot once, and ended up with three in a weeks' time. People gave me theirs because they weren't using them. It sounds like you had a great workout too. You'll get back into the swing of things in no time. Sorry you're having trouble with your insurance. Don't you hate when companies try to avoid taking responsibility for their own mistakes?

SassyChick - I hope that pain goes away. It sounds like you and your husband had a really nice time today. Sometimes it's good to play hooky. Yeah, excess weight causes a lot of problems. I started having hip pain last year. I'm not saying it couldn't have happened to me eventually anyway, but I'm sure my weight is the reason that it's an issue at 35. I also noticed that when I gain a lot of weight suddenly, my menstrual cycle does weird things.

Jane - Sinus problems are the worst. I'm just really hoping this works for me. The meds make me sick to my stomach and sleepy. Even the non drowsy types. On top of that, they dry me out bad and I start having eczema problems. More than anything I hate when they drain. It's gross and makes me nauseous.
BTW, I think that chicken wrap was your recipe. It sounds delicious.

Shopaholic, - I hope you feel better soon. You had a rough, rough evening. That's a lot for one night. I hope you got some good rest today.

Short&Sassy - I hope you're off those HBP meds soon. I fear them. My blood pressure is borderline. It's one of my motivations for deciding to become a healthier person. You'll lose that other weight. Just one day at a time. One healthy choice at a time. :)

Well, ladies I need to wash some clothes and get some exercise in, so I'm going to say good night. You all have made me feel so welcome, I hope it didn't miss anyone. Until tomorrow!

Amanda,

I tried to keep telling myself that I was just borderline, but the older I get the more I'm in the Stage 1 level...so it's time to take the meds and continue to lose weight and exercise!!

I've been in and out of 3fatchicks for 8 years now. Jane and I were originally on a thread called "Featherweights", but we didn't have a lot of traffic, just a few of us...we changed the name because we thought maybe it was the reason people weren't joining in on our conversations...maybe they thought we didn't have a lot to lose. Anyway, we changed our name and Jane and Marti have done a great job of keeping it going. I myself tend to become MIA from time to time. Anyway...I'm back, older, wiser and more determined to get the weight off.

Hello Ladies,

Been long day. Checking into Medicare Insurance supplilments etc today. So this going to be just a quick one.

Jane -I'll take the challenge you started here. I also drink lots of water and always take my vitamins faithfully.

My goals this week are:

1) To do some form of exercise daily.
2) To be sure not only stay within my WW Flex Points but to use them ALL.
3) Eat more healthy foods than junk foods.

Catch y'all tomorrow.

Hugs,

who would have thought that being Susie Homemaker and working out would make me feel good? While eating dinner, I was trying to figure out what I am going to make for me and the kids to eat on Tuesday night since Tommy has lodge!

He is taking Brandon's donation envelope with him to lodge. Brandon is doing a one hour walk for the American Cancer Society as a mini Relay For Life on Wednesday. Tommy's mom gave him five dollars. Then Anna, told Tommy to put the money for his shirt that he bought her into the donation envelope. So, right now he has $40 in his envelope.

Sassy~ It actually was tasty! And since I don't usually eat vegetables, I was actually eating the carrots! So, I was super excited about that bonus!

When we took the kids to their recertification appointment on the 30th, they ask for the parents height and weight so that they can see what BMI they have. Well, the dietician started talking to me and was telling me that mine was still high and blah blah blah. I told her "well, the last time I was in here I believe I weighed about 245ish, so I am down 12 pounds from the last time I was in here." (which was six months prior to that appointment) To which she gave me a high five and then I told her about the WOMAN challenge that I signed up for and what the objective of the challenge was and she then said "well, I can't wait to see you in six months to see the results from that challenge!"

Amanda~ Good job at not feeding your emotions! I have dealt with the insurance issue since last Friday, so I was making sure that I wasn't trying to binge or over indulge over the weekend. Now, I am just hoping that I can be good this weekend.....since it is our anniversary and we are going out Saturday night! (hopefully!!!) I hate when people don't take responsibility for their problems or the problems that they create!

I am going to be making more meals at home. I mentioned to Tommy that I want to get back into the swing of making dinner at home and to try to not eat out as often as we have been! I know the nights that we are more or less destined to eat out are nights that the kids have doctor's appointments. But even still I want to try and get some healthier meal choices into this house!

Good Morning chatty ladies!

Had a wonderful weekend w/DD and her friend, and yesterday was hubby's birthday.....so needless to say, I didn't get online.

A big hello and welcome to Amanda :welcome2:

Wanted to pop in and say hello before we shut down or computer for some defragmenting and upgrades on the virus protection. May be a couple days before I can pop back in because hubby has other things he needs to do.

So, just know that I haven't gone, just won't have access.

I need to get ready for work so I will "see" you all in a couple days!

we are hopefully having a date night this coming Saturday. we are going to go out to dinner with a set of the kids' godparents and then either go to a movie, bowling or to Dave & Busters. me and Tommy are hoping for the bowling option, but we will be happy with anything!

I am going to look into cooking our weekly meals on the weekend and then freezing them.

Hi everyone. A quik fly by for now. I am working on getting the soil ready to plant. I got 12 bags of compost and 4 bags of topsoil. 40 pounds a piece. I found green potted pepper plants for a dollar a piece. I now have 3 to plant:) I am doing things in spurts. So I don't feel overwhelmed. I am getting exercise and some sun in small doses. Having fun and am I dirty!! Beautiful day here in rural Indiana.

Hope everyone is having a great day. Will check in later. Some one said if you fake energy you will get energy. I don't know who "they" are. I hope they are right about their proverb. Thanks Pat

just popping back in before getting off the computer to spend some time with the kiddos.

for those of you that have plants, what are some good plants to plant? and by plants, I am talking about flowers. I wanted to plant some rose bushes, but since we are just renting right now, Tommy doesn't see a point in planting them since we don't own the place. He did promise me though that when we get a house that I can get as many rose bushes as I want!

Hello Ladies!

Sorry mixing up the two Sassies. :o

Fasting is so, so hard for me from 11:30a until 5:30p. But, I've made it to Day 4, so I want to keep going. Besides, I no longer have the sinusy earache that it usually takes medicine to get rid of. That's plenty of motivation for me to continue. I also have pretty good energy during the day, and my skin seems to be clearing up. Stanley Burroughs, the guy who created this cleansing fast, recommended doing it at least 3 times per year. I'm not looking forward to that, but the benefits are fantastic.

Trish - I hope you were able to get a bit more rest today.

SassyChick - I enjoy cooking too. I just hate to wash the dishes and having to make two dinners. I will usually fill my crock pots and slow cooker with food for two weeks and then put the food in storage bowls and freeze it.
My husband likes to have everything deep fried (he doesn't like oven-fried). The only exception is stuff like steak and spaghetti. Of course there's also his fast food.
I've tried everything. I can't change him. I put on a lot of weight in about 3 years' time because I got tired of having to prepare two meals. So I just ate with him. I'm not blaming it all on the foods he likes. I was a hefty girl when we moved in together. It's just that now it's so much worse. So, when DH and I eat together, we're usually eating two entirely different things.

TommysGirl - It's sounds like you have a really great family. What a blessing! Congrats on the weight loss too. Isn't it a great feeling?
Freezing meals ahead of time is the best thing I've ever done for myself. That way I can usually avoid the no-nos. It's easier to not eat fast food when I know I already have food prepared for myself at home. It just makes life easier.
Happy Anniversary in advance!

Marti - Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to getting to know you. :)

Hi Ruth! Sorry again for my confusion. I'll get it together eventually.

Dixie - Have fun with the planting. I'm going to have to try out that faking energy theory. If it works even just some of the time that would be fantastic!

Happy Tuesday Everybody!!! :carrot:

I actually woke up BEFORE the alarm today -- a 1/2 hr early!!! :faint: That is an achievement for me!! lol. AND I feel GOOD! Well except my neck is aching for some reason, but other than that, I am feeling GREEEEAAAATT! :D You know what I think it is? I think I have been getting TOO much sleep! I know how can someone get TOO much sleep, esp with the hrs I work, but I think somehow my body does not need that much sleep and too much makes it feel worse?? I dunno its a theory. lol. Cuz this morning DH wanted to get his motorcycle permit and the BMV opened at 8 am and I get off work at 7 am. We got into our town about 7:20 am. So we grabbed some breakfast and then DH got his permit. By the time that was all over with and we watched "The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" it was a little bit after 9 am. We watched some tv in the bedroom and I think we went to sleep about 9:30 ish. Which is late for us. We usually are asleep by then. But I feel good. Weird.

I brung food tonight for dinner. Lastnight I did not bring enough and was STARVING by the time I got off of work, so to prevent that I brought enough to eat, if I don't eat it, I can just take it home. ;)

It was hot today. It was 83 when I came into work this evening. It is still 77 outside. :sunny: I hope it is nice when my mom comes up in two weeks......But I know if its not, its just being together that is important, but it'd be nice to get out and about during the day since I "normally" do not do that.

Well I am rambling away, aren't?? lol. :blah:

Mindee -- I hear ya on the Allergies. Mine have been acting up a lot lately too. :sp:

Hi Marti  Glad you had a good time. Happy Belated Bday to your hubby. Hope he had a good one! :hb:

Amanda -- I don't cook that much anymore. DH does most of the cooking and he does the clean up as well! :carrot: Can't beat that, eh? lol. My biggest issue is I sit on my bee-hind all night long. Well that soon is gonna change because our schedules are changing, mine starts Sunday Night, and we have to take Mandatory Lunches (I never did before because I work such long hrs and did not want to be here an extra hr) So instead of eating on my lunch, I plan on going outside and walking. :running: I started today, on my break. Just a few minutes, but its getting up and moving at least. ;) So Sunday I should get in some good walking time!! ;)

Well as I told Amanda, I did go outside on my 1st break and walked. Just a few minutes, but it felt good to get up and move!!! I am doing what Paul McKenna said, add extra steps, so I can do this! And with DH's hrs changing to days, maybe we can take some short walks before the other one works as well! :D I am just really tired of being tired and movement is the key, no matter how small it is, every little bit helps I figure!

Well have an awesome night ya'all!

Hi ladies,

Tammy - to answer you from the last thread, yikes, I can't believe the Rebecca storyline on Brothers and Sisters, either! Holly sure is looking out for her own booty, isn't she? How'd the dress shopping go? Yes, the fashions do look like the 60's and 70's. Some of them look like maternity tops, lol. Have fun at the graduation party this weekend, in spite of the ex-wife being there.

Marti - a belated Happy Birthday to James. Good luck with the computer upgrade. Those types of things are nice when they're finished, but a pain to do.

Ruth - aww, I hope the anti-inflammatory meds are helping you.

Trish - yay for taking the challenge! I'm doing pretty good, but not great. I think I'll be more serious about the whole thing when I get back from Florida.

Pat - I'm in rural IN, too. The farmers are planting melons, beans, and corn all around me. In our own garden, we've got radishes, lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, corn, strawberries, and popcorn planted. Plus, we have blackberries, and several types of fruit trees. Good thing I like veggies and fruits, huh? Do you ever let your green peppers ripen all the way to make red ones? They're so expensive in the stores, so I freeze some of ours each fall.

Amanda - yep, the crunchy lunch wrap is my own concoction, but Katiecat has a real good one listed, too. I'm still laughing about your dream, teehee.

Mindee - you're doing a great job with the walking. And a big whoo hoo for making healthier meals at home, and eating fast food less. What a good mama you are to do that.

Sassy - how long until your schedule changes? Are you in the same location, lol. Hey, how about using a crock pot, like the other gals have been talking about? You can fix some very good and healthy meals in one. Just a thought.

Vann - if you're reading this, please pop in!

CCindy - please post here when you're comfortable to do that. As you can see, we're a loving group and will help you with the weight loss.

I had Jackson today, and boy oh boy, he's a handful. He's such a good baby, but he sure is quick, lol. He let me rock him to sleep, and I was in my glory at that. I love him so much!

I've got my exercise in, (see the above paragraph, lol) and have written down my food, but haven't kept within my points. Can you say "piggie"!?!

How are you others doing with your programs?

Gotta surf a bit, then take a shower before Boston Legal comes on. See ya on the flip side.

Ladies, my fast has officially ended. I just couldn't go any further. I got out of bed and made a chicken sandwich. I couldn't stop thinking about how hungry I was and what I wanted to eat post fast. The funny thing is that I wasn't craving anything bad. I was thinking about how I wanted to start eating more veggie proteins and try to cut back to having meat just once a day. Less dairy, more good fats and carbs, etc. Finally it all just became too much.

Unfortunately the chicken sandwich was too ambitious. I couldn't keep it down. Maybe I should have just had the meat and bread and skipped the Miracle Whip. Or maybe I just should have had some fruit and a handful of almonds. Then again, maybe I ate too fast. I gulped it down pretty quickly. I'll be sure to have something light tomorrow. Meatless.

SassyChick, you're a lucky lady. The most my husband can cook is a hot dog. If you ask him to do anything kitchen related, he looks startled like a deer in headlights.

Jane, I saw Brothers and Sisters 2 or 3 times and really liked it. I have trouble staying with a show though. However, I am a reality tv junkie. If it weren't for the fact that the reality shows I watch are constantly replayed, I'd probably abandon those too.

Well, I'm going back to bed. I feel like I could "lose it" again, but I don't think I have anything left. I don't think I'll ever attempt a 10 day fast again. I may try doing it on the weekends occasionally to see if that helps with my sinus problems. Plus I've been reading that dairy can contribute to sinus problems. I'll have to try to avoid eating too much of it.

Until tomorrow...

Jane -- My new schedule starts Sunday night (May 11th) and  I am in the same location, just a new schedule.......for now at least! Ha Ha! I have a crockpot, but my dh loves to cook, so he does most of the cooking. :) We are going to get some fish because we enjoyed it so much at the restaurant. Now with our new schedules, we will actually be able to have dinner together. DH also, as I said to Cristina, cooks more than we eat and we freeze a lot of food so it just has to be reheated later. ;)

Amanda -- Yes I know I am very lucky. My DH has always enjoyed cooking, but here lately he has really enjoyed it, so why deny him of his pleasure? lol. I still cook, but very very rarely. lol.

just popping in here before attempting to head to bed early. we shall see how far that goes, but at least it is a start!

Amanda~ How long are you suppose to do the fast? Great job on making it to day 4! Thanks for the nice comments on my family, and on the weight loss! It is a great feeling to have accomplished it, and I plan on drudging forward to excel some more! We usually use the "I don't feel like cooking" excuse on the nights of late appointments. Which I agree, it the biggest excuse out there, so that is why I want to work on freezing them ahead of time so that we can teach the kids that eating healthy food isn't a bad thing. Thanks for the early anniversary wishes!

Sassy~ My allergies really don't act up until they start cutting grass. Then I can tell you when someone cut their grass and how recently it was done!

Jane~ thanks for the nice comments! I actually had to stop and come back to post this because Marissa woke up and I had to walk her around the complex! Who would have known that three complete times around the complex is 2.5 miles!

Hi Ladies, Today is a breezy, cool day here. Looks like it could rain any second. I need to get the yard mowed, don't think the weather will allow it. Just right to get my containers planted. I don't have to worry about watering my transplants. Then get some weeds pulled out of my flower beds. Make them ready to plant my flowers and bulbs.

Jane~you are way ahead of me planting you garden. I have black and yellow raspberries to plant. Though I had 2 bushes that survived the winter I lost 4 bushes. I love fresh fruits and veggies. Please tell me how you fix your peppers to freeze. Mine come out mushie as does my melon. A real yuck to try to eat. I want to can tomato juice. I decided to put my green pepper and egg plants in containers to make more space for pole green, yellow, and lima beans. I also am adding several rows of sweet corn. Keep me posted on how your fruits and veggies grow! Thanks for clueing me into fitday.com

Amanda~The energy begats energy idea does work up to a point. I did get things done yesterday using that idea..........I am sorry to hear you got so sick breaking your fast. I went on a 2 week. I was fine with it until I ended the fast with a tuna salad sandwich. I got sever stomach cramps. Ended up in the hospital. End your fast gradually. Try broth, jello-light things the first day off the fast. The second day off your fast try rice, bread, applesauce and such. The 3rd day eat as normal. This is what the doctor told me. I went on a 40 day fast; it worked for me when I ended that fast. I do hope you are feeling better today  Wait a while and try a short fast end it easy. you might be glad you tried again. I was glad I did.

Mindee~Thanks for the wonderful idea. Noelle and I walked all around the neighborhood. We didn't go far from home BUT we walked for 35 minutes! It was threatening rain. We could hear thunder in the distance, but we got in a nice walk. After lugging 16-40 pound bags of dirt twice. Are you feeling better today?

I am hoping the main breaking out part of the poison ivy is over and done with. The itch has let up some, but I still want to scratch. I do feel better.
My eating was better yesterday. I got in my 64 ounces of water. Water isn't one of my favorite thing. But it makes me feel better when I drink the water and cut back on the diet soda. Ladies I got in some veggies:carrot: Fruit isn't a problem, I could live on fruit! I bought some fresh strawberries and yogurt. I used the yogurt as a dip and ate 7 big berries. I think as a snack I might try using fat free ranch dressing as a dip. It is worth a try!! If it gets the veggies down I am much better off. :) I am hopeful.

Everyone have a great day. I don't want to leave out anyone
Thanks Pat

Mindee~ Noelle and I went for a walk around the neighborhood. We were gone for 40 min. Again, thanks for the wonderful Idea!! Hope you get in a walk around your complex today.

Have a wonderful good day ladies I am going to go get my hands dirty. ;)

Hi Ladies,

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. Even though I put off the high blood pressure meds for so long, they do have one good side effect. Thanks to them being a diuretic, I've lost another lb...I was down to 170.8 this morning.

This may sound crazy, but for the first time ever, I can see myself being at goal, I can feel the self confidence...I can imagine myself taking pride in myself...this is a great feeling!! I've always wanted to lose the weight, but I never had the foresight to really believe or imagine myself doing it!

Well, hello to all of you...Jane, Marti, Mindee, Amanda, Pat, Sassy and anyone else I've forgotten!

stopping in while I have a chance! right now the only one awake is Brandon, and he just woke up.

I got in a good 2.5 mile walk around the complex with Marissa this morning....then climbed in bed. Got up, got Brandon on the bus, then came inside to do my Leslie Sansone workout. So, by 9am, I already hit 10,000 steps! I am now currently sitting at 14,921. I also have to add that I finally broke the 233 mark! I stepped on the scale this morning and was 232.8!!!

the insurance issue is still not resolved. the worker didn't do what she said she was going to do. so, I have yet another call into her and the next time I call, I will be telling her that I am calling her supervisor. but I did get all the paperwork in the mail today that I should of gotten two months ago!

Pat~ You are very welcome! I am kind of glad that Marissa got up when she did and we got our walk in then, because now it is raining and I don't take them out to play/walk in the rain. Now, I will go and walk in the rain myself......but I won't take them out in it unless it is something mandatory.

Ruth~ I am right there with you on feeling yourself at goal! I stepped on the scale today an saw that I was weighing less then 233 pounds and it gave me the boast/kick in the pants that I have been needing big time! I am now more confident that I can continue with this exercise plan that I have set up for myself and I will be needing new clothes soon!

Good afternoon everyone.

Ruth-Mindee~It is not at all crazy to be able to see/picture in your minds eye what you will look like at your goal weight. It helps you own your goal. Never loose sight of that picture. On days that are difficult to get through see that picture and know that the difficult time will pass. CONGRATS!!!!!

I got 3 green peppers transplanted, a dwarf orange tree, and an English Ivy house plant. YEAH

I need to fix dinner now. Everyone have a wonderful evening. Pat

Pat, sounds like you have a green thumb! This is my first year to plant a flower bed...I managed to til the ground Saturday, we planted petunias and I transplanted some day lilies and an Easter Lily that my mom gave me last year. My husband bought impatients, but they need to be moved because the flower bed is in full sun. But I'm really proud of the shrubs I found this week. They are called Allison False Heather...type of Mexican Heather, they grow 2 ft tall and 2 ft wide and have purple flowers on them from spring til the first frost! I only have 3 right now...hopefully I will have about six more of them before the months over.

Thanks for the encouraging words about mental images. I really feel good about the effort I'm putting in now.

I talked to everyone tomorrow. I've got to study for a final tomorrow.

Take Care,

Hello Ladies.

I hope everyone is doing well. I decided to stick with fruits and veggies today. This morning until the end of my work day, I had 2 bananas, fresh pineapple chunks and a half cup of almonds. For dinner I had a small baked potato with a little bit of Smart Balance, salt and pepper. I also had a pita pizza. I took half a piece of pocket bread, then topped it with a quarter avocado, two tablespoons of diced tomatoes and two tablespoons of soy mozzarella. Foodwise, it's been a satisfying day. I was up so late last night because of my stomach that I don't think I'll be able to get in any exercise. I think I'm just going to go to bed in a short while.

Sassy_Chick, you are wise to allow your husband to experience the joy of cooking. :D A man who cooks is very attractive.

TommysGirl, I love the smell of fresh cut grass, but it gives me itchy eyes and throat. Usually I can get away with not having to take anything though. Don't you hate those allergy meds?
My fast was supposed to be for 10 days, but I'm a Master Cleanse dropout. I'm proud that I lasted four days.
I know you'll be glad when that insurance issue is in your rear view mirror. WTG on the workout.
Btw, what part of Michigan are you from?

Dixie, You ended up in the hospital?? That's intense. I will no longer complain about my night last night. If I had been thinking sensibly, I definitely would have had some broth. All I was thinking, though, was "Must eat now!!" I can't believe you made it through such long fasts. That's amazing. I'm thinking of doing it most weekends. I'm curious to see if it will still be beneficial to do it that way. Plus, it's so easy to overeat on the weekend. I'd kind of like the idea of food not being an issue. I've learned to deal with my weekday overeating, but the weekends are hard.
I love English Ivies. Give it an occasional shower to ward off the spider mites. Spider mites love English ivy plants. In fact, to be proactive, you might want to get some insecticidal soap for houseplants.

Short&Sassy, I don't think you're crazy at all. I think that you've had a taste of success and grasped the fact that you have the power to take control of your health. That's a major confidence booster. I'd definitely love to see you reach your goal. That would encourage the rest of us.

Well, I'm getting really sleepy. I'd better go.

Goodnight All.

Pat~ That is great that you got all those planted! I am still debating on what kind of flowers I want to plant in front of my place! thanks for the congrats and the encouraging statements!

Ruth~ I am sitting right now at 19,087 steps and it is 11:21! I checked and that is 9.037 miles in one day! I have never gotten that many steps, let alone miles in one day!

Amanda~ hello fellow Michigander! I am in New Baltimore. I hate having to take the allergy meds and how sleepy they make me.....but boy do I ever love being able to breath through my nose!

Sassy~ Enjoy your shortened weekend!

Quick fly by to say "HELLO JADED LADIES". Finally have a meeting tomorrow evening with insurance agent to set up my Medicare suppliment. DH got good okay report from cardiologist for the surgery and we have a date of June 5th to have it done. He will be pretty much homebound for 2 - 3 weeks and recovery time is an estimated 6 - 8 weeks. You gals need to have your hubbys start having PSA tests done starting in their 30s to 40s and take lycopene or drink tomato juice or V-8 juice which has the most and take vitamin e as a prevention of prostate cancer. Tony's numbers are in a safe place, but the biopsy shows he has it. Since his Dad died from prostate cancer at 74 and had it for 10 years (they didn't have this test then), Tony decided to have it removed while it is in the gland and hasn't spread yet. I am glad he decided to do this. I've been a widow 2 times already and like the thought of not losing him too. By the way I take the lycopene and vitamin e too as the doctor says it is a prevention of breast cancer as well as some other cancers. Our family doctor and hubby's urologist told Tony to get the cancer out of his body and then to continue the lycopene/e to keep it from coming back.

I'll try to read and catch up tomorrow or the next day. Just wanted to let you know I'm still here, just busy right now. I hope all of you are doing well.

Hugs,
Trish

Hi-ya ladies!

Computer all updated, didn't feel like defragmenting just yet, but that will come soon. Hubby doing a lot of backing up onto disc. Who knew you can store so much junk! (kind of like a cyber junk drawer)

Been walking like a fiend. Trying to get my energy levels up and stay active. Feel pretty good afterwards each time, so not sure why I drag my feet just to do it.

Eating has been good. Not over eating or going crazy on junk, keeping it all under moderation.

So all in all, I'm doing great.

There is so much chatting going on that I just don't think I can catch up just yet. But a great big hug and hello to you all:
Jane, Sue, Sassy, Mindee, Francie, Ellen, Ruth, Trish, Tammy, Amanda, Pat, Marykate, Vann, Angie, Jules,.....oh my gosh, I had no idea there were so many of us!

If I missed your name, please forgive me. Great big hugs to you all! :grouphug:

I need to go clean up after walking, you all have a good night and I'll chat w/you tomorrow.

I do have to say that I like Tommy's boss! He was suppose to work six hours on Saturday. But he told his boss that it is his anniversary this weekend and if he missed it he would be in the doghouse for sure. His boss told him that he understood and he can have Saturday off!

Trish~ I will keep my fingers crossed that every thing goes well! My FIL was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, I believe it was last year, but they were able to get it all out with surgery. He has also had family and friends that have gotten it and passed away because of it.

Jane~Don't panic! I am a list maker/follower too. You will be ok. Enjoy Flordia.

Amanda~How are you feeling today? Please check in to let us know how you are.

Francie~When do you ship out for Annapolis? I was there several years ago. It was nice, the ship yard was full when we took the tour.

Trish~You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Marti~Hi!

Mindee~ You go girl!! 19,000 steps you are on a roll. You give me motivation. I ordered a step counter. It will be here in 3-4weeks. Today was cool and rainy all day, couldn't get out and walk the neighborhood :( Hopefully tomorrow I can get out and get something done.

Short and Sassy~glad you had fun planting your flowers. I don't know about a green thumb;) Time will tell. My Mom was the one that could grow anything. Let me know how beautifully they all bloom

Hello Everyone,

Mindee and Pat - Thanks for the prayers and thoughts, I appreciate it.

Mindee - I too have an allergic reaction to some grass not all. Thank goodness I'm not allergic to the grass in our neighborhood so far. Of course we are a new subdivision and lots of houses to built and grass to be put in so we will see how it goes in years to come.

Pat -Obviously you needed the rest or you wouldn't have slept so long. I think DH and I are going to get the brick trim around our flower beds before he has surgery in June if we can. If we don't get it done this spring we will have to wait until next year. I would love to have a tree put out front in the middle of our yard, but haven't decided on that as yet.

Francie - I hope you will be happy in Annapolis. I've never been there, but I am sure it is a nice place.

Sassy - I know you will enjoy being on same shift with your DH. It is nice to that he likes to cook.

Jane - You will do fine getting ready for your trip and I know you will enjoy it. You'll be missed and we'll look forward to your return.

Marti - Glad you had a good time with DD and you got your computer going again. Sounds like your getting the eating and exercise program going good again. I wonder about you being so tired still. I wonder what you are missing in your diet? Do you get enough potassium? I know that sounds nuts, but when I was younger and had the same problem I talk to my MIL about how I was so tired all the time. She asked me about potassium. I tried adding it to my diet and my energy came back up. Just a thought because of all the exercise you do, you may loosing it by sweating so much. Also watch your water intake.

Agent didn't come today. We changed the appointment to tomorrow afternoon. I wasn't sure about some things and almost canceled until she called back and talked to me and explained my questions I had. I am excited about my plan. It will go in effect August 1 when my Medicare kicks in and I my policy comes with a club membership (the company is into keeping you healthy too) that automatically renews each year so that I can take part in an exercise group. I am hoping the place will have water aerobics as it would be so good for my knees and joints as well as help me to lose weight. She will have more info on that for me by the time I see her tomorrow.

Ruth, Jules, Amanda, Sue, Ellen, Tammy, Vann, Short & Sassy and anyone else I missed (so many of us now to keep up with all the names) "HELLO THERE".

just popping in before heading to bed! my little princess has decided that it is a tradition now to go for our nightly walk. she refused to go to bed tonight until we went for a walk.....and then she basically passed out while I was walking with her! I went for my same distance this time, but added another trip that was a little bit less around the complex.

Pat~ I have been aiming to make sure that I get at least 10,000 steps a day, in order to get me ready for my challenge that starts this coming Sunday. Toady was a kind of slow day for me, I am sitting at 15,548 steps right now and it is 11:23pm! On the days that it is rainy, I put on my Leslie Sansone workout dvd off On Demand that is 2 miles. You will love your pedometer! I love mine, even thought I can't clip it to anything since the clip broke.

Trish~ You are so welcome for the prayers and thoughts! I haven't noticed if it is only with certain kinds of grass, I just notice it with all kinds of fresh cut cross. I also got my mom's allergies to cotton trees as well.

pattygirl63

Mindee, mine is only with fresh cut grass also. And I got my Daddy's allergy to cedar trees. Thank God I haven't seen any around here. I had a rash one time and had to go to my Daddy's doctor because I had just moved back home. We never knew what caused the rash, but the doctor told me "Your Daddy is allergic to so many things that you probably have inherited your allergic reactions to things from him. I am thankful that although I did seem to inherit some of it from him, I don't have as many or have it as badly as he does.

Good Morning Ladies, I am enjoying a mug of tea and a hand full of nuts. Today will be a quick fly by. I have errands to run this morning. My sisters' birthday celebration is today. Her birthday is tomorrow. I won't be home until about midnight. The family wants to go to Texas Roadhouse for her dinner celebration. Unfortunately I can not afford a dinner there or the calories that go with it. I will bake her a birthday cake and invite her over for a home cooked dinner. I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, that is what she asked for. I will do up something special just for her. Ya know, spoil her just a little.

I couldn't sleep last night because I slept in so late yesterday. I had a lot of thoughts rattling around. I think I have found an eating plan that will help me gain control of my health and my weight. It is called Daniels/Fast or Diet. I did some research on it in the wee hours of the morning. It is a very safe and nutriious way to eat. I did this Fast in 2003. I am going to make a grocery list and head for the grocery store.

Looks like the rain has stopped, the skies are clearing, the sun is trying to shine. It was a little bit chilly when I took Noelle for her morning walk, but nice. Maybe I can get a little bit of something done outside today.

Everyone have a wonderful good day. Thanks Pat

Hi all,

Well, I feel better about everything today, after having gotten several things done yesterday. Today, we're arranging to have a 374' chain link fence put up later this month, so no more doggies get hit by the crazy drivers out here. The fence is going to run from my house to Mary's and so her dog will be safe, too. We each have doggie doors, which is handy.

I'm getting my hair touched up and my eyebrows waxed this evening. It's only been 3 1/2 weeks, but I don't want to wait until after Florida.

I'll be back to do indies before we leave Sunday.

Another quicky from me (I will do indi's in the next thread)

Did not workout last night, PMS hit me full board and I was just not wanting to move.

But all is well this morning and its Friday, the sun is out and so the day WILL be good! :D

Hugs to Trish for being so concerned about me , I've been anemic in the past so I know I may need to up my iron intake and probably all the other things you've suggested!

I promise I'll do something about it.

Not much planned for this weekend, I think tomorrow will be more yard work. (it's always great for the thighs all that squatting)

Ok....I'm a bit behind in my schedule this morning, haven't even taken my shower....so off I go.

Have a lovely Friday ladies and if I get some time after work, I'll pop in and chat some more!

Brandon did the ACES (All Children Exercising Simultaneously) walk for the American Cancer Society on Wednesday. He came home from school today with a t-shirt in his bag (that he had to put on immediately), a little certificate thanking him for walking and raising money for the ACS, and also a $5 gift card to Meijer.

I will have to take a picture of him with all his goodies he got. He also made me a "bouquet" of flowers for Mother's day, which I will also have to take a picture of here in a second.

I also stepped on the scale this morning and it told me 231.4!!!!! So, those walks are doing me a LOT of good! I even stepped it up a notch last night and walked around another time, but just around the driveways and not my normal path! I was going to go around my normal path, but it was cold out last night and my hands were freezing and so were Marissa's.

Hi Ladies, it has been a real bummer of a day. I am so upset I could sit down and cry. I am so weary, weary to the bone. Went grocery shopping. The lettuce was putrid, the fresh strawberries were just as bad. I wouldn't feed them to my pet dragons!!! I got angry and left the cart and walked out the door. Went shopping at Wallys'. Did much better there.

Doing well with the Daniel diet. I am headed to my sisters' house. I think the dinner celebration has been cancled, my sister is sick!! I need to go check on her. I really want to stay on my "diet" I may have to opt out on the goodies. I feel bad enough without heaping guilt on top of it all.

Mindee~ My step counter came in the mail today! I am excited about it. I need to figure out the instruction and get it set up for my stride. This isn't like the ones I see in the stores. I think I am going to like this one.

I will check back later. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Thanks Pat

Hello Everyone. Hello, hello!!

Patty, Thanks for the tips on Lycopene. I'll read up on it over the weekend. I never knew about the potassium / energy thing. I've been eating a small baked potato everyday since Wednesday and I seem to have more energy. I wonder if it could be because of the potassium in potatoes.
Btw, it sounds like your daughter is already forming some good fit habits, without even knowing it.

Marti, I've been slacking on my walking a little bit. I need to walk like a fiend too!

Tommysgirl, Your husband has a cool boss. That was really nice.

Dixie, Hi there. I'm feeling pretty good. Thank you for your concern . I still haven't had any meat, but I feel very satisfied. I'm sorry you had such a rough day. I like to have nuts in the morning too. They tide me over for a long while. It doesn't take that many of them either. Just maybe a half cup or so.

Jane, Have fun with your day of beauty. I love that sort of stuff. I hope you enjoy your trip.

Well I'd better go. My husband is picking me up from work today and he should be here soon. I hope everyone has a great weekend!

just popping back in before heading to eat dinner. we are taking the kids to Bike Night tonight, and then tomorrow is DATE NIGHT!!!! We are going to dinner and then bowling. (so all the bowling should work off the steak that I am going to eat!)

Pat~ I have done the same before when grocery shopping! But now we buy all of our groceries from WalMart.

Amanda~ How are you liking the MI weather?

Hey girls, I'm on the fly by...getting ready for bed. Just spent 45 minutes on threadmill, 30 minutes @ 3.0 mph and 15 minutes @ 2.5 mph.

Mindee, have fun on date night! Congrats on the weight loss. What does SW on your weight stand for. Oh, what is bike night. Congrats on Brandons participation in the cancer walk. I know he was proud!

Pat, sorry you had a rough day. I hate buying groceries! I put it off as long as I can...and lots of things don't look as good anymore.

Marti, hang in there...hope you had a good day...and got back in the swing of things.

I'll check back tomorrow. I'll try to catch up on everybody in the morning.

well, we had a great night last night! we took the kids to the bike night at the local flea market. we walked all over the place but because it was cold not that many bikes showed up. but it was still a good time had by all! then we had to go to walmart to get some stuff!

Tommy was asking me what he gets for our anniversary, since I get two holidays in one! for our anniversary, I get dinner and bowling. For mother's day, I get a new purse and some flowers!

Ruth~ SW stands for starting weight. I know that we will have fun on date night. I am kind of worried about the food part, since we won't be eating until 7pm or so! But I have been good with my eating this past week, so I will be okay! Bike Night is where they basically invite all bikes, no matter if it is a Harley or a crotch rocket, to come and show off their bikes and enjoy some music. He was very proud of himself for doing the walk! He even threw his back pack at me when he got home from school on Friday. And when I showed him his shirt, he had to immediately put it on. It is a medium, so it fits him..........all the way down to his shins!

Good morning ladies,

I've already been outside in the flowerbed this morning. I had to replant/reposition some plants so that my new shrubs will fit. Also some of the were planted to close to the edge and I had to put them furter in. Now I've got to tackle the laundry, the kitchen, the floors...I should be busy busy...think that will count as low intensity exercise!! LOL

Hi Ladies It is a beautiful day here in rural Indiana. I am ready to get out side and get started on the flower beds and have the garden spread with compost and tilled. I want everything planted when the sun sets tomorrow. My neice and I are going to get some bags of compost at Wally's then it is time to get our hands dirty.

Short and Sassy~way to go! Low intensiy maybe:?: but exercise adds up all the same and think of the beauty you have brought to your yard:D Sounds like you have a full day ahead of you!

Amanda~ Thank you for checking in. I am glad to hear that you are feeling better.

Mindee~ Please do take a picture of Brandon in his special tee shirt. I want to see the big smile on his face.

Jane~ Have a wonderful good time in Florida. Enjoy!!! Know we will miss you!
Tell us all about it when you get back home.

Last night didn't go like I had hoped it would. My niece went to DQ and got an ice cream and an ice cream cake. That was dinner!! Not a wise or healthy menu. I finally got so hungry I ate some of both. Didn't pig out but still not "diet" food. I am back on track, cut my losses and get on down the road. Today counts as day one of my Daniel Diet. I have had a hand full of nuts, 1/2 cup of dry whole grain cereal, mug of tea, and 2 glasses of water. I will have soup for lunch.

Talk to you all later. Have a great Saturday Pat

Good Afternoon Ladies,

Just a quick :wave:hello today. Going to NC shopping this afternoon. I got my insurance all taken care of. No water aroebics at my YMCA facility unless they work with another one here in town, but I hope to get into a senior's workout class or maybe on a one on one program. I was a member of one years a health club years ago where I just went in on my own and used the machines, used the sauna, showered and went home. I loved it and may just do that.

Mindee - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!!!!! You and Tommy have fun on your date out to night.

Francie - Are you excited about your move? When are you scheduled to be there?

Pat - Hope you are having a better day today. I buy most of my food at Wal-Mart and we have 2 here and sometimes one of them will have crappy stuff or not be consistant with products. My favorite store for produce is Harris Teeter, but they moved the one that was close to me and they are way to expensive. So I have settled for Wal-Mart. We have a 2 other stores close by, but they don't carry everything so I use the for quick runs to the store.

Jane - I know your busy getting ready for your trip. Remember what I told you about worring about dieting while gone. Just have fun and we will look forward to when you get back here. And I bet ya you will better to get down to business with a your good food plan then.

Well girls I'm out of here for now. Don't mean to leave out or miss anyone I'm just not really good at remembering everything these days. Too much going on around here lately. DH surgery date will be here before I know it and I'm trying to get everything done that I need to before that day gets here such stocked up on food supplies etc that I usually go to NC to by before that happens so I'll only have to leave him long enough for a quick run to close by stores. I think we've decided what yard work we want to get done before then too. So I might not be in and out of JL's that often for a while. But I will read and try to keep up with y'all.

So for now EVERYBODY have a great week end and I'll check back when I can.

BTW update on my Daddy and Mom. I guess my (Step)-brother and his wife got busy and got everything straightened. My step-sister is furious, but thanks to my Mom's oldest son everything is fine. Turns out that some how she had put herself as Mom's next of kin and Daddy as an unrelated friend who was not to be told anything. Even doctor got involved Daddy is down as 1st person to be called about Mom and my step-brother second. Mom is hurt that her daughter would act as she has, but Mom has perked up and is excited, working hard to get well and go home with Daddy. My brother is going to go get her tomorrow while Daddy is at church and take her out to his place for Mother's Day to spend with them. Daddy will go out there and be with them after church and then take Mom back to Rehab. I know many of you have had them in your prayers and thoughts and I just want to let you know how it turned out and also to say :thanks:. It is so good to hear the happiness in my Daddy's voice again. What a terrible thing for someone to have to go thru at 81 & 85 years old. Personally I am so grateful my Daddy has her to love and be loved by her. :) They have been married 7 years last Tuesday and I think that is an awesome thingh at their age. In fact, they were my inspiration to try marriage again after my hubby of 31 years died.

Hugs,
Trish

Pat - You must have been writing while I was. I just had to tell you that I think you did great. :carrot: One time of eating what you ate is not a slip or something to waste time feeling down on yourself for. I am so proud of you and you should be proud of yourself because you "moved on" got back on track. Successful weight loss plans work like that if we are doing them correctly. There will always be times in our lives when we cannot be in "total" control of the foods around us. I personally believe when we can begin to learn how to accept that and learn to work "around" them and "through" them, we will begin to see real progress. For so many of us who have been in the "diet" world for so long, we leaned to feel guilty and to beat ourselves up so much because we got "off" that we ended up punishing ourselves thinking we were failures to the point we either binged or gave and quit our diet plans. We are learning now that a slip or one meal off plan isn't a disaster that will ruin our progress if we will do just what you did and that is just get back On Plan at the next meal (or even the next snack).

So I :cp: applaud you and say :bravo: for a job well done and I hope we can all learn a really good lesson from your example to us.

 Thanks Trish

just popping in here while I have some time before we leave for our date night!

I stepped on the scale this morning and I was an even 231! So, I am doing something right! I even managed to walk over 11 miles yesterday! I even walked almost 24,000 steps!

I am going to look into getting some more Leslie Sansone dvd's. I love the work out of hers that I have been doing, and she helps to pass the time without you watching the clock every few minutes!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!

Ruth~ I am hoping to get some flowers soon. Tommy said that I am getting plantable flowers for Mother's Day. But since our top hatch is broke on the back of our mini-van, we have to get them when the kids are not with us, or he will get them when he goes to the store by himself.

Pat~ I changed my avatar to a picture of Brandon with his shirt on, and the flowers that he made me at school.

Trish~ I am so happy to hear that your daddy and mom are doing so well! I can't believe that your step-sister would act like that. But I am happy that your step-brother stepped up and fixed every thing. Thanks for the anniversary wishes.

Trish~Thank you for the kind words and support. I really needed it. It helps so much to know I am not alone. That I have friends here to nudge me on when I need it. KUDOS Ladies, each and every one of you are the greatest!

Today was a busy day. We made 2 trips to the compost pile got about 80 gallons of compost. Got it all home. Then went to Wal Mart and got 7-40 pound bags of soil. Got a lot done towards planting later today. While at Wal Mart I spied these strawberry bag kits. I thought I would try one :D Now I have 10 strawberry plants to plant in a baggie thingie to hang like a flower basket. If it works out I will get one more kit. I can't find decent berries in the store, I will grow them. I got in a lot of low intensiy exercise today. Tomorrow I start planting the garden and flower beds.

Have a wonderful Sunday Happy Mothers Day Pat

Happy Mothers Day to all of our Jaded Ladies!!

How was everyone's weekend. Mine has been a decent one. We took my MIL out to eat last night! I will need to compensate tonight with a little extra exercise. Today I will go visit my mother, I'm taking her one of the shrubs I purchased last week. They are called Alison False Heather, it says that they are an evergreen in zones 8-10 and we are zone 8. Mom thinks they will die during the winter because. So, she only wants one...if she likes it I'll buy her a few more next year.

Well, gotta run. Talk to you later.

Mindee, just wanted to say Brandon is adorable!

Hi Ladies, Today is a wet one here. Yes, raining pretty steady. I won't be able go get much planting done today. My hopes of having everything planted in the ground by sunset today won't happen. I think I can duck and dive the showers tomorrow to get the rest of the flowers and containers planted. I can make final preps; like make the pole frames for my beans and vining plants. Prep my containers for the potted veggies. Get my netting lined up so all I have to do is hang it in place. I want to get the 10 strawberry plants planted in the bag and hung. I can cut and mark the row stakes. If I can get this done all I will have to do is plant my seeds. I might buy one more container to put either watermellon or canalop in. Free up some space in the garden for things that take more space. I have decided what I can't grow up I can hang and grow down. My Neice found a thingie that you can put on a roof and grow flowers and veggies on the roof. She asked me if I would go half and half with her. I just might do it, then get a standing freezer and put my harvest away for winter eating. I know climbing a latter may not be the smartest thing for me to do. It is good exercise. Kinda like double up some of my spaces.......anyway it sounds good in writing. If I can get some help from my son and Niece it will go faster ;). I am so eager to get it all in the ground so I can watch it grow :D. It will be low intensity exercise, but it all counts the same :dizzy:

I better get on with the day. I hope everyone is having a wonderful good day with family, friends, and loved ones. Thanks Pat

Hi Ladies, Hope you are all having a great Mother's Day.

Jane - Have a safe trip. Hope your flight goes on schedule and you have good weather for the whole trip.

Ruth - I have little shrubs the landscaper put out when the house was built that haven't made it or may not make it as they are more dead than alive so I think I will look for the evergreen shrub you got your Mother. I like things that look good year round.

Pat - We are getting rain today as well and it looks like we are going to have more rainy days this week. However, I can't complain after the dry spell we had last year. We are still on a water restriction as last year. I suppose that is because we don't know how this summer is going to be.

I purchased to new SBD Supercharge book yesterday. I am excited about the new plan of exercise that goes with the diet. He teaches you how to get more out of your exercise using both low intensity and cardio to build up you core strength and revv up your metabolism so that you lose weight and get in shape healthy and do it faster. I'm going to read it this week and hope to start it full swing next Sunday still plan to use WW Flex to control portions unless I can learn to use the satisfaction rule of IE.

Hugs,
Trish

I started a weight loss group at work and also joined an exercise group where
I have to do some form of exercise for 1 hr a day. Last week I did 1 hr of brisk
walking each night. Wow!!! that really worked in that I lost 2.5 lbs in the last
8 days.

I still have not been able to get my daily water intake in. I will work on that
this weekend.

I hope all are doing well and loosing good.

just thought I would pop in and wish every one a Happy Mother's Day!

we had a great date night! we had a great dinner, and our friends got us a cream puff sundae for our anniversary. and I was good and didn't overindulge!!! then we went bowling and I worked off all the food that I ate! we even got a king size Mr. Goodbar, and I am happy to report that about 3/4 of it is sitting in the freezer right now!

Trish~ Thanks for the nice comments about Brandon and his flowers. He was really proud of himself when he handed them to me. He ran over and gave me the biggest hug and kiss that he could.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY LADIES!!!!!!!

Sassy~ Thanks for that card! It was really beautiful!

Pat~ Thanks for the anniversary wishes. I will most definitely give him a kiss and hug for him from you!

I got a half dozen of roses from Tommy for our anniversary. He told me that there was a rose for every year that we have been married. It has one red, one orange, two pink, one darker pink, and one pink with red on the tips. they are all really beautiful!

He called me when him and Brandon were at Meijer's to ask me what kind of flats I wanted. I told him to pick out whatever flowers looked really beautiful. He then said that they all looked dead, and that we would probably have a better chance after Mother's Day to get a better flat of flowers.

Jane~ Have a safe trip and a Happy Mother's Day!!!

Ruth~ Thanks for the nice comment on Brandon. Have fun with your mom!!

Pat~ That sounds like a great plan! I have been seeing commercials for this planter, that you can grow tomatoes in, and the grow them upside down. You can hang them from your awning and stuff like that. I can't for the life of me, think of what the name is.

Hello and Happy Mothers' Day!!

I hope everyone is doing well. I notice that I eat a lot more on the weekend. Not necessarily no-nos, but sometimes you can have too much of a good thing. I don't like counting calories, especially since I want to work on my weight loss as stress free as possible, but I think I'm going to start logging my weekend calories on Fit Day.

TommysGirl, Michigan weather makes me sick! But we don't have mudslides, hurricanes or earthquakes (usually), so I'll try to stay positive. I've had this ten year long dream of living in Nashville, but the longer I live here, the more I think I'll end up staying.
You have had quite a weekend by the way. I'm glad you enjoyed your anniversary and found out that you lost weight on top of it! That deserves a three carrot dance, Home Chick. :carrot::carrot::carrot: Your little boy is adorable by the way.

Ruth, Between the gardening, housework and treadmill, you've probably burned a million calories this weekend. Once I have a yard, I wonder if I'll ever get into outdoor gardening. I love easy care houseplants (I have 45 of them), but I really admire people who put all that love and care into their gardens.

Dixie, thanks for the congrats and your concern. You're very kind. As with Ruth, I'm amazed by the amount of energy you put into your garden. Is gardening outdoors as relaxing as having houseplants? I once worked with this woman who told me that her garden was the only thing that kept her sane during a divorce.

PattyGirl, I'm sorry to hear so much has gone on in your family. I'm glad that your brother was able to step in and stop the madness.
I totally agree with your regarding this dieting / eating plan business. It can be too stressful. I believe Atkins to be a good plan, but I used to stress myself over it so much that I drove myself and my husband nuts. Then, the three times I was on it, I followed the same pattern. I went gung ho, became afraid of certain foods, went through extreme disappointments when I slipped and eventually got tired of all the stress and deprivation. Then I'd just just give up, slip right back into my old habits and gain all my weight back.
Now, I'm just trying to be a healthier person who eats sensibly. The weight comes off slower, but I'm a lot more at peace. Also, I know that I'm working on the way I want to eat for the rest of my life. Nothing I'm doing is temporary. In fact I had originally planned to stay away from the scale until I made it to a size 12, but I just had to take a peek since a few people have noticed my weight loss. lol
BTW, I'm right behind (nine pounds) you in stats. I'm also hoping to get to 125 - 135. The only thing is that I'm three inches taller. I'm going to keep my eye on you!

Hi SassyChick! I hope all is well.

Jane, I hope you have a fantastic trip. Be safe and have fun.

Maryyea, Marti, Sz2 - It's good to see you all. I hope you've had good Mothers' Days / weekends.

Shyla, Congrats on your new group and the weight loss! That's really exciting. I think being a part of this group and the one at work, will be really beneficial to you.

Well, Ladies, I think that's it for the night. Good night everyone.

Tonight, I thought I'd try spaghetti squash for the first time, but I ended up buying a butternut squash. I thought I knew what a spaghetti squash looked like from pictures. Oops...:o

So, I guess I'll make something with butternut squash. lol I was thinking of throwing it together with some eggplant, tofu, broccoli, tomatoes and soy cheese. Then baking it.

Do any of you cook with butternut squash? If so, could you share a good recipe?

Pat, sorry for the lousy weather, I hope you can get your plants in the ground soon.

Thrish, my mom (who has an amazing green thumb) loved the plant. I did a quick lookup on the plant before I bought it. Since it looks like the ground cover Mexican Heather, my mom thought it would die back in the winter and come back in the Spring. But this is not a ground cover, it is a shrub that is grows up to 2 ft high and is up to 2 ft wide. I hope that our winters are mild enough here in Louisiana so that it doens't die back. I will probably take the time to cover mine when we have a freeze (we really don't have many nights below 32) during the winter.

Amanda, I didn't get as much exercise in as i wanted. Mainly the 30 minutes in the flowerbed and 4 or five hours of washing clothes, vacumning, sweeping, etc.... This morning I visited my mother, then went to my aunts and finally got home around 6:40. My hubby wanted tuna fish sandwiches so I had to make a quick run to WalMart to pick up a few things. So, I then settled into watching the Survivor finale. Anyway...didn't do as much, but I did purchase a ECK heart rate watch which also counts down 3500 calories. Today I've only burned about 1400 calories in nine hours. I think this will help me be more aware of what I'm eating and the calories food contain.

Well, it's bedtime...tomorrow is Monday! So everyone have a good week.

Good and sunny Monday morning to you all. Wow, is all I can say about the amount of posts here lately. I guess I need to get back on track with checking in every morning and night. I can do that now....I finally got my cable modem up and running well and set to my liking.

Funny thing...to get the cable they gave us a free digital box. DH decided he wanted to upgrade to some preferred channels to get more sports and business programing. SO, today I called and ordered boxes for our bedroom t.v.s and the package with the channels he wants. Wow, was I surprised to see 5 movie channels I like and several home improvement and gardening shows. YAY! If we have to spend the winter in IN we will at least have good t.v. Mom likes the classic channels and game show network...so she is happy that she will get a box on her bedroom t.v. also. I told DH we might never see each other, we will be in different areas of the house all watching our own shows. :) (the funny part of this is they gave us a FREE box and it ended up costing us greatly.)

I had a busy and "bad" week-end and am now ready to keep my nose to the grindstone, so to speak. Fri. was the family dinner and all the goodies that go with that. I did pass on the meat and eat lots of fruit and veggies, but also potato salad and banana cake. So, not so good. Sat. I did ok by pushing the fresh fruit that was left over. Yesterday we went to the funeral home and then to eat with in-laws. Of course, Steak and Shake is not to OP friendly. So, bad, bad, bad. At least it was only 1 meal and I had eaten fruit for breakfast.

Today, I am waiting for it to warm up a little so I can plant some bulbs I bought last week. Then I will walk. Also doing Monday's Mt. Washmore...my bed linen day and all.

Agenda for the week is not too ambitious. Mom will be gone with her sis Tues. and Weds. I might call my BFF to go for lunch Wed. and to the nursery for plants.

What's on your calendar?

just popping in while the kids are napping!

I stepped on the scale this morning and I am weighing in at 230 pounds! Only 100 more pounds until I hit my goal. But I have been wondering if I am setting my goal too low for myself. I am sure that I will reevaluate when I get closer to that number but for now I am going to leave it there!

I also started my new challenge yesterday......so for the next 8 weeks, I am going to be aiming for 10,000 steps a day! and in doing so, I am going to be walking across the US!!!

As far as what is on our plans this week, well nothing really until the end of the week. Brandon doesn't have school on Wednesday, and then Thursday we are all going to the zoo with his class. In fact, my MIL is going with us! We are getting in before the zoo officially opens so that we can beat the crowd, and from what I gather, all we have to do is meet his teacher at the gate, and then we will basically be on our own after that. I am going to make sure that we take the camera with us since it will be the first trip to the zoo for all three kiddos! Just do me all a favor please, can you please send some nice weather this way? Right now it is looking clear and 63, but Tommy has said that if it rains then we are not going. So, I am hoping that it stays clear because the kids are getting excited about the zoo!

HI Ladies. I am glad everyone had a great Mothers Day. We had a "cookout" in the rain. It was fun, really, we had fun. We laughed and laughed you would have thought we were a bunch of teen girls. It was great.

We went in the rain and dug about 80 gallons of compost, got some bricks and had a wonderful afternoon.

Amanda~Your friend is right. It keeps one sane during a probmatic divorce. House plants are good therapy too. But there is nothing like getting out in the garden puttering around to ease stress, make you feel like you are contributing something back to nature, using your creativity for the good of all. Makes the hard times a little easier to handle.

Mindee~Thank you for your encouragement

Ruth~Thank you for your encouragement

Everyone~You are a great bunch of ladies.

Today was one of them there daze. My Neice and I left to go get more compost for her strawberries. We were going to go by her Grandmothers' house to borrow her tiller. We drove her 4 wheel drive Rodeo back to the shed to load the tiller. We got stuck to her axles in mud. Had to call a friend to come and pull us out. To discover the tiller had been stolen!!!! Her Rodeo is not a 4 wheel drive as was sold to her to be! We were SO bummed out at the thought some one had to drive across her property. Load the tiller. Then come back across the property to the road and drive off with it. That was our day. No planting got done.

BUT we found a friend with a tiller :D He came out and tilled my plot. Got my Neices ready to go. Tomorrow we plant my garden before the rain comes in. Then wait a day and till hers. Then till again. Then plant. We are on our way.
We have a shippment of goodies due Friday in the mail. ;)

We had a big birthday bash at Texas road house. It was a perfect ending to an other wise hard fought day to get something done. I didn't do badly with my eating:carrot: I do need to get in some exercise. I might do it while watching the basketball play off game.

Ladies I am sorry I am behind on my posting. Tomorrow early morning I will try to catch up. I will weigh in and make my ticker tape.;)

Take care Ladies Pat

Well ladies,

The left shoulder and arm really bothered me today. I stayed home, slept til noon and the sent the afternoon dosing on the sofa. I go to the dr tomorrow, I'm hoping that they x-ray it..it was alot cooler this morning and I hurt more than the lst few days...I can't help but wondering if it is arthritis setting in.

Anyway, I was down to 170.0 even this morning. Its a slow process but I will get there.

just popping in here before heading off to bed.

Amanda~ I just noticed, thanks to you pointing out, that me, you, and Trish are all in the same area on the scale. And our goals are all the same! So, I say we band together and continue to light a fire under each other! What do you say?

Trish~ see above, my post to Amanda.

Pat~ That stinks about her tiler! I hope they can find it! I can't wait to get my flat of flowers, sometime soon, and so I can plant them!

Hello ladies....

Had a busy weekend and I have a busy week ahead. We have all kinds of chaos going on at work, a combination of construction, reagents on backorder, computer failures and one gal on vacation!

That equals to me going into work an hour or two early all week so I don't have to come in over the weekend.

Puts me in a exhausted state of mind and I feel grumpy until I get home. Hopefully it'll all straighten out soon.

So my apologies for not poppin in here more often, but I will once things slow down.

For now, I great big hello to all

And since we're at the end...why don't I start the new thread and close this one.

See you all at 296.
