Hello :),

Day 2 of the block challenge. I'm hungry....the idea of being on plan....hunger of the mind. Actually, I always get like this on weightlifting days. I want to eat out for dinner, but can't think of a decent meal (no salads please).

Today is Thankful Thursday. I have alot to be thankful for. Most of all, I have three stars on my calendar for yesterday and today. Two gold stars for that achievement.

I'm going shopping. See you tomorrow.

Hello where is everyone?

I miss all of you.
Today is Fun Friday and I am going to get my hair done.
I sure miss the attachments.

Grannie, I love your picture! That's so sweet! I think dh & I need a picture done...maybe this weekend, we'll get a nice shot. We are off to Pennsylvania for an overnighter at a bed and breakfast...maybe we'll find a place to try out the dance steps that we learned last night! I must say, that dancing is great exercise! The class was 2 hrs long, I'd say that 90 minutes of it was spent dancing! Just moving around, LEARNING the steps had me huffing and puffing! It was a lot of fun, if you don't count the times I was corrected by the instructor...who was, by the way, at least 80 years old! She was so light on her feet, it was exhausting just watching her! We learned the "Hustle" (I never was a big disco fan back in the day) and several variations of the "jitterbug', the "Lindy," or swing dancing...I liked that much better...big bands and rock and roll beat out disco anyday!! We went out for a drink afterwards...I was frantically calculating how many points I had left for the day...but the 3 points I drank (1 beer--normally I would have had two!) was more than covered by the 7 POINTS that 90 minutes of dancing earned me! (I didn't want to have to go back to day 1 after only one day!)

I didn't post Thursday what I was thankful for...that would have to be my husband...we have been married almost 19 years (can it be that long?) and he still makes me laugh like no one else can! We have a lot of fun together...people at work are amazed when he calls me just to say "Hi" or to chat, and they are stunned if we talk more than once in a night! He is my best friend and I can't think of a better dad in the world! I am truly blessed.

So I bet you know what kind of fun we'll be having this "Fun Friday!" :o Dancing, of course...get your minds out of the gutter!

Have fun all... :D :smug:  :)

Hey everyone :)

Checking in really fast. I love the pictures!!! I also love the challenge idea, but I can't start posting to it yet. Definitely need to get my life ordered here first. I swear, the harder I'm trying to get my house back in shape, the dirtier it appears to be. Truth is, I spent too much time off my feet this last year and there is a lot to get through cleaning wise. Now we have guests coming throughout the spring, and it absolutely has to be done. One of those guests is my MIL... Yup, this place is being beaten into shape!

Ok, if I don't get off here, I won't have time to eat before work. Don't feel like eating, though. I think I'm fighting off some stomach thing again. My gut is hating me. :(

Good Friday Morning

I did not make it to Missouri today to see my parents. I just can't seem to get over this head cold, cough, etc, crud.
I got up EARLY so I could go but just feel like... the blahs still.
Not sick enought to go to the doctor... but too sick to go anywhere.
Plus... my parents are too delicate to expose them to this.

Congratulations Malia... you are doing GREAT !!!

Mary... what a LOVELY picture. :) What a nice couple you make. I just LOVE this picture thing. I am actually glad we lost our cutezy cartoon pictures... because otherwise no one would have posted their REAL photos. Tina... thanks for getting us started. Keep them coming everyone. ;)

Kat... I have a couple of cutezy cartoon pictures of swing dancing I would have posted in your honor. LOL You Go Girl !!!
When I was much younger I used to LOVE dancing.
I gave it up in exchange for marriage to a NONdancer. :nono:
Youth is wasted on the young. LOL Today I would do it so differently. I gave up everything that I loved and took up what he loved. Don't get me wrong... I think that taking up what he loves is a good thing.... It doubled what I loved to do.... BUT... I wouldn't totally give up ME for a him ever again. He needed to comprise more too.... not just me. He pretty much is still the same. But he is a great guy most of time... What is a girl to do? LOL

Andria.. I hope you don't get that stomach virus I had.... It was a killer.
I am scared of challenges... I HATE being a failure and those things seem to set me up to fail. LOL
I am soooo different today than I was when I was younger. I used to love challenges. I want the old me back instead of the OLD me I have become.

I am going to try and be productive today. I am sooooooo far behind on everything.
My Fun Friday is going to be getting some this pressure off my back from everything I have put on hold since being sick and helping my parents.

Hope everyone has a wonderful FUN FILLED FRIDAY!!!

03-08-2002, 04:57 PM
Well, I don't have much to say today. I have a case of the "blahs". The weather has been cloudy and drizzly for days and I think it's getting to me. My food has been good again today and I did my exercise, so as far as staying OP I'm doing great. Otherwise though, I'm just kind of moping around for lack of better things to do. I don't have anything on my "to do" list for today and am not motivated to do much anyhow. I'm missing my DH. I'm bored out of my mind. I think when my son gets home we'll go rent a movie or something.
Talk at ya later,

03-08-2002, 08:20 PM
Baylee yes I did. I slid past every turn I tried to make yesterday. It was much better today..at least so far. Suppose to really get hit tonight.

On the way to work I got some road spray on my windshield. When I squirted them it didn't clean where I look out so I stopped in the next town and got out to clean a piece of ice off of my left wiper. Wouldn't you know the rubber part came off in pieces.

When I got to the town I work in I took it directly to the repair shop since they warned us of snow and ice and I would need my wipers on the way home.

About 10AM I get a call my wipers are replaced but there is a problem. Now I think, what could they possibly find wrong with my car while replacing windshield wipers????? When they drove it into the garage ( and I am sketchy here) something was laying there and the car drove on the end and the other end went up and "poked a hole in my radiator". Exactly how this all happened I don't know but I have new windshield wipers and a new radiator for $24.52.

I have been so busy that I need to go back and read all the posts so I can respond.

If we get the storm they predice I will have plenty of time this weekend.

03-08-2002, 11:05 PM
Good evening all
I didn't get my hair done today. I helped at the LIbrary and we were so busy.

I have been so hungry. Hope all of you have a good night.

03-09-2002, 04:27 AM
Hi everyone! Yes, it's me, Thinthinker. I do still exist!!

I cannot believe I still have a deep cough and one of those noses that runs off your face! :( But I will survive. I'm finally convinced of it.

I've spent the last hour and a half reading all of the posts I missed. Can't believe I didn't even appear for all of #139! Geeze o weeze!!! :o

I had to really work my tail off this week to catch up on jobs that should have been spaced out over the last 10 days, but because I was soooo sick there for a bit, didn't get done. The real trouble with that is with every job comes PAPERWORK!!! :spin:

I am feeling better, but still have a busy weekend ahead of me, all the reports from the jobs I did today and then we have a wedding to attend tomorrow night.

It was 65 degrees here today.....just beautiful.....until late in the afternoon when the wind really whipped up and it started to sprinkle. It's supposed to get up into the 60's again tomorrow and then by 4:00 drop into the 30's. Should be a fun day to try and figure out what to wear, eh?

Mary: Good job getting the family to agree to a vegetarian meal once a week. What did you try on them? * If you don't say anything, I'll bet you can get away with the 'crumbles' in stuff without any problem. What they don't know won't hurt 'em!! * I loved your picture. Aren't you and DH a great looking couple!!!

2cute: I hope you had a great day with your granddaughters. That should take a little of the stress away and make you remember how joyful life can be. * I'm so sorry for what you're going through with your folks. It's so awful to fall apart and have the mind to know what's happening. At least with my dad, the mind went before his body did. Not really sure which is better, both are very sad situations. [[[HUGS]]] * I'm like you with the 'challenge' thing. I hate to be a failure. And I too once loved a good challenge and would always be able to step up to the plate. Where is that 'old' us??? I long for her too the older I get.

Jen: Good to see you back. I bet you really miss the DH. I know we're a poor substitute, but we are here for you! [[[hugs]]] * Great job ditching the lemon squares and the garbage disposal is the best place....no chance for second thoughts!!!

Malia: I read today where if you're super hungry after you work out you could be iron deficient. Just a thought.

LuckyLadyBug: My WW leader keeps stressing to have some protein at every meal because you will stay satisfied longer. And she also stresses not to skip breakfast because it gets the metabolism moving. She always starts the day with a little peanut butter on toast, or a slice of cheese on a pita or Eggbeaters....anything so she has a little protein.

Katrina: I bet the dance classes are alot of fun. DH and I really enjoyed them when we took them some years ago. The jitterbug, however, was not my strong suit. Just could never get the feet to move in the right direction. But how I  to waltz!!! * Have fun at the B & B. Did you get some silly string????

Tina: Another pound and a half!! That's awsome!! You are doing such a GREAT job!!! * I love the pictures. You and DH look great together. And you have both dropped some pounds! Good for you!

Susie: Sorry that job stress is still holding you captive! I'm sure as the days go on and you get more settled some of that will ease up. Just keep remember the raise in pay was worth it! *giggles*

Baylee: SEVEN pounds for February is GREAT!!! Keep up the good work!

Babette: Thanks for dropping by. You can 'lurk' anytime, but we love it when folks drop in a say something!!!

Joe anne: Thanks for the lovely picture of your mom awhile back. I hope you will consider re-joining us on a regular basis.

Syn: The pumpkin brownie recipe looks great. I'm do that up for next week.

I hope I have gotten caught up with everyone. If I have missed someone, please forgive me, but it is 3 am. and I've about had it for the night. You all take care. Know that I think of you all often, even when I'm not here for awhile. I really do love you guys!

Well Thin: your alive glad your better. I cooked a Tereaki Rice dish with stir fried Vegs in it I usually add chicken but left it out. I think I'll do spaghetti with the crumbles. DH did try a morningstar farms burger and said it was ok. He likes the patty sausage. My son said he wouldn't eat any vegy bugers. we'll see.

Baylee: when you et though dusting come on over to my house.

03-09-2002, 10:53 AM

03-09-2002, 04:57 PM
Hello my friends...

I've only been gone ONE day but I really missed you guys! I missed my kids too, terribly...I really am a homebody! I love to see new places and get out and about, but home is truly the best! :)

I am pleased to report that I was a very good girl, food wise...I had a big salad for lunch with cold shrimp, very low points there...for dinner I had another large salad with grilled shrimp...yeah, I like shrimp, Okay? I felt confident enough with my low points to have a cinnamon bun with my coffee for dessert...We did SO much walking...plus I walked before we even left just to be sure I got my exercise in for the day...haha, little did I know.

I haven't eaten since this morning, just waiting for dh to pick up my son and we're off to dinner! I"M STARVING!! At the inn they served only "continental breakfast," coffee, juice, fresh fruit, bagels and scones and the like...I had two small scones with some fruit, so I am seriously ready for dinner! :T

Sorry about the winter blast you guys are having up there in Minnesota! It was about 70 today, warm and sunny on the East coast! Spring is teasing us...tomorrow it's back down to the 40's and it's gonna rain tonight. :(

Gotta run, I hear the car door! (I told you Iwas hungry!):D

see you later...

03-09-2002, 11:29 PM
Hey! Just have to drop in here real quick before I go to work. It is about 10:21pm right now and I have to leave in about 20 minutes. I don't have time to reply to everyone individually, I just wanted to hop in and say hello and tell everyone how much I've missed you. :( I haven't posted in a couple of days and I can really tell. You definitely know when something is missing in your life. I've been lurking and reading a little here and there though.
:) I usually do alot of posting at work on my boss's computer, but someone was using it the other day and messed it up and now she has banished us all from using it. So, now I have to fight the boys and DH to get on the computer and it's crazy!
Things are still going pretty well. Still OP and doing my Leslie Sansone videos. Any interesting ideas on how to spice up the "water" thing? I've tried lemons and occasionally Crystal Light......but I need a little "kick"! I do want to say it was nice seeing TT back on the thread. I've missed you, you little devil, you! :s: Hope your feeling better. This is my last night and I'm off for the next two days! WOO HOO! And......last but not least, are Mary and I the only ones that are going to post pictures? Believe it or not, I hate having my pictures taken, but I had those that I was forced to take by DH and I thought it would be cool to send them, but I would love to see some pictures of my buddies too!
Well, I have to go for now........hope you are all well and I will definitely see you guys tomorrow!:smug: :smug: :smug:

03-09-2002, 11:47 PM
SOME of us might not know HOW to post our picture!!!!!!

03-10-2002, 05:19 AM
Good morning everyone. I have been up all night AGAIN.
I am posting now because i hope to go see my parents this morning.

Malia.... you are soooo beautiful !!! Oh to be young again. I am green with envy.
I am grateful you posted your picture... thank you.
It seems so funny having you talk about being hot and dry when it is cold and wet here. LOL
Glad you are back.

QueenB... I am like luckylady... I have NO idea how to post a picture. :?: Don't you have to have a scanner?? I don't have one.
But I love seeing all of yours. I think someone told me when you develop your film at WalMart they have an option to get it online. Does anyone know anything about that?? I will try to remember to call Monday and ask about it.

Does anyone have their own web site? There is another group I once belonged to and they formed their own web site and posted pictures and info there. You had to have a password to have access to it. You had to belong to the group for several months before you got the password. And they changed it often since people would quit posting. They were very protective of it.

I know I don't want my neighbors knowing I post here and read about my inner feelings. And I certainly don't want to tell them what I weigh. ... :nono: LOL

Glad to see you back.. and even happier to see you are still on program.
Too bad about losing your access at work.

Baylee... I can relate so much to you. I never had shrimp either and I am trying to change that now.
And I would go dancing with you if we lived by each other.
I have not gone to any of those other sites yet. ..but I will try.
DETERMINATION has gotten me thru today. :D I WANT BACK ON PROGRAM.

Kat... thanks for reminding me about shrimp. Mmmm good. :T

I just want to share again... I MADE IT TODAY!!!!! :D
I drank my water.
I ate on program.
I fed my mind and soul as well as my body.

Today is all that really matters.... so make it a good one. ;)

03-10-2002, 09:59 AM
Good Morning everyone.

2 Cute: you do have to scan your photo. and yes Wallmart will put them online you can also get your photos on a CD also thats what I do. I get mine on Cd they are easier to store that way no photo albums to fool with.

I am up a few pounds this week. :(
I have been eating out a lot while at work. Have got to get back OP. Help me ladies.

Malia: you are pretty.

Baylee I love shrimp boiled especially. and crab legs too.

See you all later.

03-10-2002, 11:15 AM
Hey everyone :)

More pictures! Wahoo! Malia, you look so cute and sporty. :)
I'm feeling a tad better. Thought I had kicked this thing last night and went ahead and did a busy mom dinner of store bought fried chicken. Two pieces and I was back to where I was a couple of days ago. Miserable!!! I'm going to stick to a mellow diet for a few more days and see if I can kick the rest of this. Actually, the foods I'm craving are seriously hot and spicy. Maybe I need more of them. Yeah, any excuse for a curry. ;)

My family is waking up, and I need to go enjoy some time with them since we are lucky enough to be all together this morning. I'll be back later today while taking a break from house recovery (otherwise known as house cleaning).

03-10-2002, 12:23 PM
Hi group!

How's it going today? I'm very excited this morning cuz I put on the underwear that live in the back of my drawer because they WERE a little too snug and cut me right in the middle of what I affectionately refer as the "sub paunch" (You know that roll under the belly button?) Yes, I know that's probably a little TOO MUCH INFORMATION, but there's more! They even fit me WITH my monthly visitor!! (WAY TOO MUCH INFO, now!) Ah well, we must celebrate our successes, whatever they are!

I LOVE all the pictures of you guys! I have NO idea how to send one, (technologically challenged) but I'll get hubby or my daughter to help me...Although I AM kind of leary ...I like the idea of the website, as 2cute mentioned...I'm not that crazy about posting my pic on the internet, God knows who'd see it...not that I post such intimate thoughts, but my weight isn't something that ANYONE knows except the weigh in lady @ WW and you guys here! Something to consider...any of you out there know how to create a website just for us??

I'm on DAY 4 of my challenge...still gung ho,,,unusual for me...generally, I have 3 good days on program and then things just start to unravel...so far so good this week. Last night, we went to "Lone Star" for dinner...a steakhouse...after all that fish, I was DYING for some red meat! :T I figured that since I hadn't eaten since breakfast, I was ENTITLED to eat whatever I wanted to! {stinkin' thinkin'} We were ready to order the big ol' fried onion blossom...and then I said, why don't we skip the appetizer and get DESSERT instead? (A good compromise, I thought, since normally I would have done both and everything in between!) I ordered a 9 oz sirloin steak, their smallest, a baked sweet potato and a "lettuce wedge." They brought out a wedge of lettuce the size of Texas, sprinkled with chopped tomatoes and blue cheese dressing, on the side of course! I ate about two thirds of the lettuce, I figured better to fill up on that and save some of the dinner for lunch today...long story short, I ate every last ounce of my steak and most of the potato, and had NO desire for dessert! Later that night, I had to pick daughter up at the ice cream parlor where she works and ordered a cup of low fat/sugar free ice cream...all total, my dinner and dessert cost me 24 points, but they were worth it! I still came in under my allotment for the day...plus earned two extra points for my walk earlier in the day... ;)

I'm taking the boys (son and nephews) hiking today...it's about 35 degrees w/ wind chill factor...about 35 degrees colder than yesterday! brrrr...

I thought I was going to post a muffin recipe that I saw in this month's Prevention magazine...til I tried it...BLEAH! :p I may have to tweak this a bit to improve it...I'll have to come up with something later...

be good...see you later...

03-10-2002, 12:24 PM
Malia You are so cute…..Is green a specific team color there? Don’t you just hate it when you can’t get here to post. It’s just like when your car breaks down and you can’t go anywhere. That is all you can think about. Thanks for posting your picture.

I DO have scanner. My problem is finding a picture. I am the family “picture taker” so I rarely am in any of the pictures I have. I have an old one but was smaller then so I don’t know if that counts…..(oh, and younger too).

Kat Any report from your trip to the B&B and silly string?

Baylee I have books on all of those diets. My problem is I would jump from one to another depending on which one I “heard” something on. Now I am trying to go with what I feel good about. I also know I do not like doing a lot of cooking of a regular basis so I have been trying to keep that in mind also.

Thankfully the wind has quit and the sun it out. I heard the snow plow early this morning. This is suppose to be an easy winter but I still want spring and SOON.

Yeah, I heard a car go by….I may get out of here yet.

I have to work on my journal chart (for lack of another name). Of course, then the BIG challenge – actually filling it out this week.

03-10-2002, 03:23 PM

Beautiful day here. Clear and bright. I bought fresh strawberries from BigK yesterday. They were huge and semisweet. We grow strawberries on the island, on the volcano. The volcanic ash soil makes them sweet. They're a premium and rare to find. I remember when we would buy the first crops at the office. $4 for half a flat. I love this time of year. My roses are blooming and ferns are thriving.

Kat, same here with the underwear. I bought cotton undies, "briefs". They fit oddly--high cut on me--now they fit as briefs should. My bra is loose though, I'm on the second row of hooks. :)

I miss gifs. I'm going to scan them and post them on the website. I'm going back to BigK today and buy more strawberries. Two guesses on what my fruit will be this week.

Thank you for the compliments on my picture. The color green is for our university of Hawaii football team. We attended a game on Maui (they came to us from Oahu). It was fun. They gave us pom poms. We bought the hats. I've been to games on Oahu, the fans are dedicated (crazy?).

Will be back this afternoon. Aloha,

p.s. The gif quality is not the same, no animation too.

03-10-2002, 05:37 PM
Good Afternoon,

I've been reading this thread for quite awhile and really enjoy the post's I've read, but didn't want to barge in on your group. :dizzy: But I feel left out and want to be part of it, I've tried posting on some other threads but they seem to dwindle away, and I look forward to getting up every morning to see who's posted. It's the only support I seem to be getting right now, and this site keeps me going.

Just to tell you alittle about myself:smug: I'm 25, mother of one 4yr old son and recently engaged to my boyfriend of 6yrs. I've been struggling with my weight since kindergarten, I can remember my mom trying to put me on diet's. I'm at the highest I've ever been and don't want to be here no more. I almost gave up, and was seriously thinking of gastric bypass surgery, (my mom had it done) but I happened to come across this site and since that day( one monthe ago tomorrow) I've lost 14lbs, and feel ahell of alot better, drinking lots of water and choosing healthier foods, If other people can lose 100's of pounds then so can I.:D I'm not calling this a diet but a new and improved way of life.

I look forward to posting with you lady's, Tomorrow is week four weigh in I'll post back and let you know how thing's turn out. Kind of scared been having trouble controling my mouth in the evening lately, things keep on ending up in it.

03-10-2002, 06:56 PM
Hi Duckie, welcome to our group! We were in another thread together on the Buddy Up forum...that did dwindle out, didn't it? Well, feel free to join us here, we are a cool group if I do say so myself!

Malia, I'm jealous, all this talk of roses and strawberries!! I just satisfied a bit of the gardening urge by raking up all the sticks and branches blowing around my front lawn! It's SO windy out today! When I'm done here, I intend to visit a gardening website to order some seeds...I am ready to start planting! Some of my daffodils have actually bloomed and there are a few purple crocuses open...my tulips are irises are sprouting green shoots and my forsythia has buds on it! :) I love flowers, can you tell?

Have you northern girls dug out yet? I know in the past I have requested a shipment of snow from you guys, but you can cancel that now...I'm in "Springtime Mode!"

Hey, guess what I got in the mail yesterday?? Two tickets to "The View!" Does anybody watch that? My sister and I wrote to request tix for that and "the Rosie O'Donnell Show," and lo and behold, "the View" tickets came yesterday! We're going to try to change the date we got, because she can't get out of work that day, so I'll let you know when to look for me in the audience! (uh...not that you know what I look like or anything, but you know what I mean!)

Here's my recipe...I was going to make this today, but opted for chicken and gravy in the crockpot {4 boneless chicken breasts, sprinkled w/salt & pepper, 1 onion, sliced--place in CP, pour 1 can of French's Fat Free chicken gravy over all, set on low for 6 hours or til done.} So much easier, and we had time for a good long hike, since I didn't have to cook! Anyway, I'm going to try this on my next "chicken night!"

Grilled Maple Glazed Chicken
from Weight Watchers Annual Recipes for Success 2001

2 skinned, bone-in chicken breast halves (about 1 lb)
2 skinned, chicken thighs (about 1/2 lb)
2 skinned chicken drumsticks (about 1/2 lb)
1 cup maple syrup (use pure syrup, not pancake syrup)
1/3 cup bourbon
1/3 cup orange juice
1 tsp coarsely ground black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp ground red pepper
