I was gonna start the C25K back in March but wasn't following the plan. Then I was gonna start in April and again was doing my own thing. I haven't progressed as much as I would like to doing it on my own so I guess it is time to buckle down and use the program like I should. Third time should be the charm. Who wants to join me?

I'll be with you.
I was going to start back in March, but my thyroid went all crazy again. It took until about a week ago to get me to a dose where I actually feel like a human being.
I actually tried starting on Tuesday. I only managed every other running interval, but I think if I move to the indoor track this afternoon it'll be a little better. They're in the middle of renovating the park so it switches from blacktop to gravel to packed dirt.
So I'm with you!
I'm hoping to come back down to the lower 48 from Alaska in September as a running/biking fiend.

I'm a moron. :dizzy: :crazy:I started this post this morning but a few short hours later I had forgotten it already. I planned on starting today but didn't remember until I was 45 minutes into my SS on the treadmill. I did run two short intervals and am hoping the kids cooperate enough that maybe I can get back on later.:crossed:

Hello! I'm so glad to see some of you just starting C25K! It's a great program.
Tonight I am going to finish Week 8! I have NEVER been a runner, and never run this far in my life. But I am doing it! And you can do it too. Just don't give up!

Good luck and happy trails to the starters! :carrot:
Finished W8D2 tonight - wow, had to break through a few mental blocks there to get myself going, but it was so worth it. By lap two I wasn't cold anymore, after another two my knees weren't aching, and even my day-long headache gave up nagging me towards the end. Running, the miracle cure? :p

Yay starters!!! Woohoo! Man is blue team well represented or what?
Hope y'all don't mind if we old timers shlep in here to continue our training. :D I did W7D1 today. It wasn't my favorite run ever :( but it didn't suck. The podcast BPM was a lot faster this week, so as a result I rounded my half-way mark a good 2-3 minutes before the halfway cue came. Too fast for me right now, but I did it! Woot!
Happy training everyone!

Hey all can I join you? I just started week 2 Day 1 this morning, but I have to tell you I am doing this on my elliptical, since my Doctors have banned me from real impact running. Since I am doing it differently, I will understand if you want me to bow out.
THANKS!

I will be repeating week 1 next week. I can almost get through the whole thing, but I skipped 2 of the running intervals. So hopefully after this week I will be able to move on to week 2. I gotta push if I'm going to run a 5k this fall!!

Welcome, new C25Kers! I hope you find it as addicting as I have. You'll be amazing yourselves in no time (yeah, so shoot me if I sound like an infomercial ;)
W8D2 today. I decided to run for the distance of 2.75 miles which ended up being just over 30 minutes for me, since I'm running more of a 11-ish minute mile pace. I can't believe that I ran for 30 minutes OR 2.75 miles, even if it is a "slow" pace. Eight weeks ago I could barely run the one minute intervals.
Happy :running:!

i started week 1 two weeks ago, but only went once the first week and twice last week. i've been using weather as an excuse, but secretly was glad it was raining lol. but i'm determined, so this week i'm gonna make myself run 3 times then move on to week 2.
does everyone move up to the next step each week? is it ok to do it in 2 week intervals? i have the worst lung capacity, since i was a teen. i get really short of breath if i push too hard too fast. that's what's always kept me from running. so i want to take it slow. i've done ok so far.

I've been doing C25k for a while too; I really really recommend it to all you guys who are thinking about doing it!
I did W6D3 today - 25 straight minutes of running! It was pretty tough, but probably because I was pushing the speed a bit. I did the first 20 minutes on 5.8 mph, and the last 5 minutes on 5.5 mph. It took lots of self-talk to get through it, but I made it! Its weird, I really look forward to running now, even though its hard.
Princess0113 - I'm sure repeating each week will be fine! Just take it as slow as you need to :)

Hi Everyone,
I just started too.
I had been doing HIIT but it was just too turbulent for me.
I just did the second session of the first week of the C25k program.
I'm using a speed of 5.5 for the jogging and 4.0 for the walking. Right now it's working out to be around 23 minutes for me because I have to allow for time for my treadmill to increase/decrease speed.
And I also do a full hour on the TM including the C25k program.
I'm sure I"ll have to cut back on the length of time as I do more jogging.
Today was fine though and I did 4 ab exercises as well and 20 4th step push ups. I'm also doing Wlifting on alternate days.
I used to be a runner and LOVED it; until I broke my leg ( not running, slipped on black ice in my driveway) a number of years ago.
So it would be wonderful if I could get back to 30 minutes of running.

I decided to do W8D3 this morning without a rest day in between. Not really sure why, I just felt like it. It took me 30:26 to get to the 2.75 mile mark. Here's to W9 and a whole new beginning of running by the end of next week!

I'm starting too. I did a test run of it last Monday and although I felt okay with jogging my heart rate was not alright so I just walked faster and I'm afraid its going to take me a few weeks to be able to jog those intervals so I'll keep repeating week 1 until I can jog or I can run through the program until I'm speed walking 3 miles and then start jogging. Which do you think is better way to go about it? I know I can do this I did a walk/jog program before and its such an amazing thing the body becomes capable of. :)
I've had a rough exercise week and after a great start I feel guilty and horrible for not getting my exercise that my body needs. I love the gym but can't afford to take my daughter with at $3 a day when I'm broke now as it is. When I get tax rebate I'll get caught up on bills and pay for her to go this month whenever its $10 for a whole month or $3 each time. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll get back working. I just finished school for medical assisting and had to stop my job to complete internship to finish that. While I'd love to use my degree(I did pay $5000 for it after grants) but I may have to take anything or check out my prior employment which did pay quite well and I loved listening to music all day there. :) hehe
Well enough rambling. I'm Melissa and looking to run or walk/jog a 1/2 marathon in at Disney but registration is closed and not sure I'm up for fund raising. :( So might wait and do a full the next year and look for shorter races along the way. Ultimately I'd love to run a marathon at Disney in the future. Along the way I need and want to lose around 130 lbs.

My goal is to stay on schedule this coming up week. It's the last week of finals (I had three last week and four coming up) and I can practically build a fort with the textbooks that are stacked around me.
So, study break = running around campus with the iPod. That's my mantra this week.

Hi all...
I started C25K on April 27, but will be repeating Week 1's sessions again this coming week. I am not a jogger / runner, so I'll be starting slow. My walk / jogs this week have all been in the 1.75 mile range, but that includes an additional 5 minutes of cool down walking. My shins hate me!
fiberlover
05-04-2008, 01:26 PM
There is nothing wrong with repeating weeks. Everyone is at a different fitness/weight level, and that means longer training times for some. It's following the *idea* of C25K, where you gradually increase the time/distance you jog until you reach the desired level.
I do just the timed runs now, and then will work on getting the distance part down.
Today is W5D2 - so 8 minute jogs. I know I can do it. My 8 minute jog is about 1/2 a mile, not the 3/4 suggested in the workout - but that's okay.

I did w7d1 today - 25 minutes of straight running. I started out at 5.8 mph, bumped it up to 6.0 in the last 5 minutes, and 7.0 for the last minute.
This run was a lot better than my last; it went by much faster. I think its because I had better music to listen to.
Good luck everyone! You can do it!

W8D3 is done! I pushed myself for the first 25 min. and then barely had the power to finish the last three, but I made it through and I managed to improve my speed quite a bit - from 8 laps to 10, i.e. 2.5 miles. Not too bad! I did "intervals" of quarter laps - increasing the tempo on the straight parts of the track and switching to a slower pace in the bends.
Today I even managed to outrun a few people! Haaa! :)

I had started doing some intervals back in February before I knew what HIIT was. Then I was going to start the C25K in March and put it off. I still did intervals but never managed to make it more than 90 seconds or so. In April, I was able to get outside a few days and managed to get through some 2-2.5 minutes jogs. I haven't been able to break that barrier. I've done 60 minutes every day this last week walking and decided today was the day to get into this 5K training. I looked up the weeks and decided to jump right into week 3.
I did it!!!!:cp::dance::dancer::yes::cheer3:I ran for 3 minutes. I am in shock.

is it better to stretch before or after? or both? i run in the morning before work so i don't have lots of time... well i would if i could get out of bed a little earlier but i don't see that happening. lol

Wow Bernerdoc! Good to see the program actually works! I'm not following the program religiously because some days my knees feel better than others, but even without following it exactly my progress is amazing! I'm up to W4 doing five minute jogging intervals, and I never thought I could run for that long! Keep going everybody! We can do it.

I'm not a professional but I do believe it is best to stretch after running when your muscles are still warm. Good shoes also do wonders.

Leah / Zinke:
Today, I stretched before and after and although my shins still hurt, they didn't hurt as much as the first few times. I don't know if that's due to the stretching or just because this is day 4 and I'm adapting. There's a short wall that separates the elliptical machines from the treadmills and I stood on it and stretched my calves (toes on the wall, heels down) and shins (heels on the wall, toes down). On Tuesday, I'll stretch farther and for a longer time and see if that helps more.
Leah,, I can't get out of bed any earlier either. I'm a night owl. I usually go to the gym between 10pm and 12am.

Hello c25k friends!
I am now in Week 9! I ran my first 30 minute run yesterday out in the sunshine! I am so stoked that I can run this long now. Unfortunately, I'm not running as FAR as the program suggests in that amount of time. But after I finish this week, I'm going to run a 5K which should take me about 40 minutes (at my 4.5 mph pace). Then I'm going to work on getting a little faster and improving my 5K time.
I NEVER thought I could do this! But I won't give up.

I've got a question. I've been doing c25k for a while now - I'm in week 7. I know the program says to only do 3 days a week of running, but do you think it'd be ok if I did about 5 days of running per week, even though I'm not done? I would run about the same 25-30 minute per day, just more often. Or is this a problem because my joints and muscles aren't ready for 5 days of running per week? I'm really starting to like running, and I find the elliptical quite boring now compared to running.
fiberlover
05-05-2008, 09:48 PM
Shades, it's okay to run every day, if your legs can take it - but you really do need rest days. I would gradually add on. Start with 4 days for a while, then 5. You are still training, and it takes a long time for your body to get used to the running.
There are some people who run every single day. I wouldn't be going all out every day, but certainly you could vary how hard you push yourself.

W9D1 today. I discovered it's a BAD idea for me to eat in the few hours before I run so it was quite painful. Live and learn, I guess. I won't be doing that again anytime soon! I'll do D2 either tomorrow or Wednesday and likely not get to my last *official* day of C25K until Sunday since I've got a 1600+ mile drive Wednesday - Saturday.

I did W4D1 again today and almost made it through the set. I was supposed to jog 1/2 mile at the end, but came up about 1/8 short. Today was the first time I tried c25k outside because the weather has just started to get nice here in Michigan. Such a difference running outside. I had to push myself more and I think I ran slower than my 5.4 mile an hour pace at the gym, but it was easier to push myself to the end of an interval because I could visualize a place on the track to run toward.

I did w7d2 this morning (25 minutes of running again). It was kinda rough because I think I was a bit dehydrated or maybe I'm getting sick, so I turned the speed down to 5.5 mph (I was going to try 5.9 but it was too fast for today). I'm really glad I was able to finish it though.

Did W5D3 today. The 20 minute jog!! I actually got through it fine. Went about 1 3/8 miles, so that is around a 16-17 minute mile. Not too shabby. I could have gone further, so that is good to know with Week 6 on the horizon!!

Hi all - I have not run in 5 days!!!! Eeeek! I was so busy this weekend (another agility trial) and Mon and Tues just flew by. Oh my! So, today will be W7D2; I am thinking I might just listen to the W6 podcast again because I like the intermittent prompts and the music was much less annoying (seriously, the same 2 bars of percussion with synthasizer overlay for 4 minutes is NOT motivating to me). Anyway, I'll update AFTER I run, but coming in here today holds me accountable!
Fluffy - I'd love to share my shin-pain secret. A friend told me that my shins hurt because my stride is too bouncy. To fix it she said to look at something ahead of me (like a point on the wall, etc.) and try to keep it from bouncing. It made my shin splints go away! Yay!
I'm baaaack. OK, so I got back out there!!! It felt really good, even after so many off days. Or maybe especially after so many off days. :yay: See ya later!

I did w7d3 today - still 25 minutes of running. I can't believe I'm almost done with this program. I'm definitely going to keep up with running, and maybe even run a 5k or 10k race eventually.
My run went really well today. I think they're better when I put a new running playlist on my ipod; I get sick of the same songs over and over again. I'll have to remember this for next time.
Good luck everyone!

Hi Runners!
I've not yet begun my modified C25K. I decided that this couch potato needs to ease into the running part, so I'm doing a 4 mile walk with Hubby each evening. Our walk includes a lot of hills, so I'm getting a good start. My plan.....Monday, May 12 is the day. I'll do the C25K in the morning and the walking in the evening. Any bets on the scales moving a little quicker? :D

I began walking about a month before I started the program. Wonderful idea.
Completed W6D2. Again, it was a little more difficult than I expected. I'm kinda frustrated with my speed (or rather, lack of) at the moment. But, I know that will improve as I consistently run for 30 minutes. D3 tomorrow. I'm also partricipating in the Revlon Run/Walk on Saturday AS A WALKER. I'm going on vacation next week. My challenge will be getting in my 3 runs while hanging out. I'm shooting for Tues, Thurs, and Saturday for my runs.
Also, my calves have been on fire all week. Also, my right knee was a bit problematic. Last night, I used a little Biofreeze on my knee and calves. Now, I feel great! I need to start getting massages on a more regular bases. However, Biofreeze is a great quick remedy.

WHOOOHOOO! A new personal best. Finished eating dinner and was about 20 calories over for the day. Then I had one of those drumstick ice cream cones. :nono: I decided I better get off my duff and get that run in and burn off those excess calories. I decided to head outside and run the highway. My goal was just to make it as far as the end of the podcast and then turn around and walk home. A while back I figured out how far this one creek was from my house, 1.6 miles exactly. I never imagined I would make it all the way there before the end of the podcast. I did! I made it there in 23 minutes and I had just finished the last 3 minute run and it was time to do cool down. I felt so great that I just restarted the podcast and decided to see if I could handle doing any more. I made it home in 23:30. That included having to stop twice to get rocks out of my shoes. I managed to keep the same pace the entire time. 3.2 miles in 46:30. My previous best was 52:15 for a 5K so I am really excited. W3D3 hopefully on Saturday.

Hi, everyone! Can I join in? I just found this website this week, and the C25K as well. I've been trying to train myself to run doing an walk/run thing for a while now, but just haven't been getting far with it (no pun intended). I just did W1D1 today (to the podcast), and LOVED it! It was a little easy for me, so I may do just two of them and then try week 2.
I think the podcast made a big difference for me because constantly looking at the time tends to be a deal-killer for me... I see the number go up and it's a mental thing - I just get tired. But with the podcast, I don't have to look at the time, and it was fantastic!
I think I'm going to start using the treadmill and then move outside once I'm more comfortable with it. But as long as I'm actually doing it, and finishing each workout, I'll be happy!
So anyway, I'll be poking in to see how everyone's doing and to post my own progress! :)

Me Amarie: Thanks for the advice. I think that I am a bouncer, and probably a shuffler too. :) I go to the gym after work, so I'm tired when I do the program sometimes. On those nights, I hear a lot more squeals from my shoes on the treadmill because I'm not lifting my feet. My shins start to burn quicker on those days, too. I noticed that if I support myself on the handrails that my shins don't hurt as much. I figured that I was just pounding 230+lbs on them and they were protesting. I suppose proper form, less bouncing and energy bar ought to help too. :)
bethbeth: :carrot: Way to go! That's inspiring! :carrot:
zinke: First off, go BLUE! ;) Secondly, congratulations! :cb:That's amazing! You shaved off more than 6 minutes from your previous time (darn those stupid rocks :))! Extra calories = motivation to get 'er done. Yay! :cb:
My ponder for the day:
Is it always one or the other, either calf pain or shin pain? Wonder if there is a correlation between stride, gait or weight? Does anyone have both? Hmmm... :chin:

Instead of my W6D3, I participated in a 5K on Saturday. My plan was to run the 25 minutes and then walk the rest of the way. If I felt good, I would run more. First of all, I ran the first mile and walked the 2nd mile. Then, walk/ran the 3rd mile. I finished in about 54 minutes. :( Not great, but the walking killed me. Also, it was a little offputting to run around so many people...people who were WALKING in the running group. Not a resting walk, but a full walk the whole time. So, I had to expend alot of energy bobbing and weaving. Also, I wore the wrong pullover. I was burning up. I didn't want to flash anyone, so I continued.
I think it was great preparation for the July 5K.

Foodie - ugh.. Sorry the race wasn't all it was cracked up to be :( I don't think I'm ready for running in a pack yet.
Yesterday was W7D3 for me - it felt fine, and I definately think I'm ready to move on, but it just wasn't fun. So I've decided to change my route. Unfortunately this will mean I'll have to run a hill, but at least I'll be able to run by the river. I've just got to find a way to put the f-un back in my r-un! I previewed the music on W8, and I really like it. Maybe that will help too!
Happy running all!

I ran my first 5K this weekend, on a treadmill. My goal was to do it in 40:00 minutes, and I did it in 38:38. I still can't believe that I really ran this long/far!
I'm a little at a loss as to what to do next, now that I've finished the c25k program. Try to improve my 5K time? Train to run a 10K? I'll have to do some thinking.
Keep up the good work everyone! If I can do it....you can too!

Congrats, bethbeth! :carrot: This is awesome. I'm nearing my "graduation" too (W9D3 tomorrow) after a week of some temporary setbacks and some successes, and I've been giving thoughts to how to continue, too. I decided for me to just work on my times for now, maybe even go through some of the earlier weeks again to run the intervals a bit faster this time. Even in my long runs I try to switch between slower and faster runs now. As much fun as this running thing (intermittently) turned out to be, I can't imagine to extend my running time significantly beyond 40 minutes. I just get too antsy and yes, a bit bored - not because it isn't hard, it still is, but because I can't get into that flow-headspace that makes time go by faster ;) - yet. Sorry, rambling here...
ALSO: My dearest husband (2nd anniversary today btw!) and I signed up for our first 5K - it's the New Charles River Run (http://newcharlesriverrun.com/) on June 29th - which motivates me to keep going and upping my speed so I'm not eating *everyone's* dust... :D
Foodie: Argh, I feel for you - next time will be better, I'm sure! Running with so many people is hard, I'm sure it will drive me crazy too - I even get cranky if "my" track is a little crowded, heh... :dizzy:
Me_Amarie: Oh, that sounds so nice. I'm gonna move my route to the river, too, at least on weekends. All that running laps is really getting to me.
Sami: Welcome and happy running! :)
Great job, everybody! :carrot:

Heffalump - wow! Have a great graduation run tomorrow :D
I got out this am before work for my W8D1 - sort of. At about 15 minutes, I was just too sore and so I dropped back to a walk for 3-5 min before finishing the run. Not sure if I went out too fast, or what - actually, my hips were really sore when I got up this morning, so maybe I was just physically out of sorts. I guess that means I'll do 3 more days of W8 - 3 real days of it.
Anyway - happy running!

Hi all! I hope I can join you!!! I've actually not *officially* started C25K yet. I've been doing "my own thing" for a while now and when I *officially* start tomorrow I'll be doing W3D1. "My own thing" is based on distance rather than time and I'm up to shuffling 1/4 mile and walking 1/8-1/4 mile between shuffling intervals. This is the way I started jogging in college and I got up to being able to run a couple miles but never really pushed on to 5k. I've been wanting to start again for a while and a few weeks ago, I bit the bullet. Now I've found C25K, I think I'll try it out to see how it compares. I watched the time on the treadmill last week after I found out about C25K and W3 matches the closest to what I've been doing. Has anyone else made a transition like this? Did it make a difference? Or did you notice a difference?

That's pretty much how I started as well. Did my own thing and then looked and found out I was on week 3. I've done the three minute runs a few times but I'm not real comfortable with them yet. One or two more tries and on to week 4.

Congrats to all the May graduates! And to the May starters for that matter! :cheer:
I started my second week of W4 today. I can't finish the last 1/2 mile, but I end within 1/8 of a mile of it every time. I think I'll take an entire repeat week before moving on.
I also got new shoes today! My knees were hurting a lot with my old shoes, but I didn't want to make the investment until I knew I would stick with this running thing for more than a couple of times - my past track record isn't so great :) I've been running (ahem, jogging) for four weeks now and treated myself. I LOVE them and my knees felt much better today!

Hi, everyone! Thought I'd poke back in for a quick update.
First of all, WOW! Everyone seems to be doing so well on the program! It's truly inspiring to a newbie like me to see that it's working and that so many people are making such great progress. Keep it up, guys!
Second, my little family all did our town's Mother's Day 5K on Sunday morning. My husband Jim ran it (and finished in 23:15 - woo-hoo!), coming in 30th overall in a field of 349. My 7-year-old daughter and I walked it together, but she kept wanting to run, so we probably ran a total of a quarter of it. But we finished! It took just about 48 minutes, which, considering I was doing it with Erin, wasn't bad! :carrot:
I did W1D2 of C25K this morning, and it felt really good. I think I've convinced a work buddy of mine to do it with me, so it'll be fun to have someone to partner with and cheer each other on. :)

Hey all -
I finished W9 last week, whoohoo! I actually did my W9D3 run with the dogs on my way to my intership site for the summer (our 4 day, 1700 mile drive). It was a bit hairy, running with the two of them but we did it. :-) Now I'm in the process of mapping out new routes and re-adjusting to running outdoors vs on the treadmill.
I'm thinking of entering a charity run on June 8th...
Congrats to the other 'finishers' and welcome to all the new starters. Keep up the awesome work!!!

Yay, I did it too! Just came back from W9D3 - my third 30 min run - and although I wasn't counting laps I think I did pretty well speedwise. Next I'm going to work up to the actual distance (W10, I guess ;)) and then it's just improving time until June 29th :carrot:

Newbie
Hey everyone-
I just registered today because I really wanted to be a part of this thread. I work with several runners who just completed a marathon last week and it is all that they talk about. It motivated me to consider running and I found the C25K plan. I'm psyched to try it out. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever imagine being a runner but I guess it can't hurt to try. I did my first C25K workout last night and it went very well. Hopefully chatting with you all will keep me motivated to stay with it!

Congrats to those who finished this month!
Today I did Week 6 Day 3 of C25K. 25 minutes of jogging! I did it all. Went about 1.5 miles during that time. I took it slow to make sure I got through the whole thing. Wore my new heart rate monitor and kept my HR at about 70% of the max the whole time.
I am just doing time now, and will work up the distance after the 9 weeks, probably.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread but am in Week 2 of the program. I was a cross country/long-distance track runner in high school but it all fell by the wayside when I came to college. I have missed it and am ready to start running again and thought this would be a good way to ease back into it. I'm looking forward to running "with" you all!
I am curious as to what types of workouts you all do on the off-days, cardio or strength training? Do you ever do strength on the same day you do your run? Thanks for your help!

Hi all! It's been almost a week since I've run :o Its not that I didn't want to, I've just been super crazy busy and sick.
So I got back out there today to do w8d1 (28 minutes running). I thought it'd be really tough since I took a short break, but it actually went really well! I got fitted for some new running shoes and they are so comfy. I got some new running shorts too that are really light and dry really fast. I'm starting to feel like a runner *gasp*! :carrot:

Yay everyone!
Shades: :bravo: woohoo getting back out there!
So I got my hip problem resolved (strained illiotibial), and wouldn't you know, my rib went out. Ugh. I'm sure its cause I didn't fix the other (hip, leg) stuff earlier, but I can get in to my doc to get it resolved until Saturday, so... no running for me until Sunday at the earliest. I swear I am going to be the slowest C25K finisher ever :(
Alright, I will jealously read all y'alls progress reports and try to learn patience. ;)
Have great runs everyone!

I do some sort of cardio every day. So on nonc25k days, I do walking/biking/aerobics. I also strength train 4 days per week.
Today I started Week 7. Another 25 minute run! I think I could probably do the whole 5K at the pace I am currently going at LOL! Slow, but at least I jogged the whole time!

I haven't run in almost 3 weeks. :( Just too much going on in my life. I did W6D1 last time.
I'm eager to get back into it, especially after reading all the new posts! Congrats to all the new starters!!
I'm gonna go out and run today... I think I'll go back to the beginning of week 4 just to be safe.
UPDATE: W4D1 was just right for me... very very hard, but not impossible. My legs are so tired now.

Hi, all! I did W2D1 today. I probably shouldn't have, as we did another 5K yesterday (and I shaved 4 minutes off my time... whoa!), but I wanted to stick to my Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday schedule. It wasn't bad at all, and I think Tuesday will be easier as I'll have a rest day tomorrow. I still really like the podcasts... they really keep me going!

Hi all...
I took a week off from running because my hips were sore. Either it's all the pounding from the fast-walking and jogging, or I'm just getting old :halfempty.
So anyway, I "wogged" 2.18 miles tonight on my first Week 2 workout which I thought was pretty good since I took last week off. I felt like I could go more, but pushing it isn't really a good idea, is it?
Oh, my shins aren't hurting as much anymore. Must've been all the good advice about bouncing less, and picking up my feet, stretching, etc. :thanks: all!
:congrat: to the grads and :welcome2: to the 3FC and C25K newbies.
Gotta run ;)

Hi everybody! I'm glad I found this thread.
I just started the C25K program today. I'm really proud of myself. I did a walking pace of about 3.5 and a jogging pace of about 5.5. Does that sound about right? I forgot to write down the distance, so I'll make sure to check that when I do W1D2 on Thursday.
Congrats to everyone who finished, and YAY for everyone starting! We all have to be newbies sometimes!

Hi all! Checking back in.
Still haven't finished :( but it seems like maybe I'm in good company - it sounds like many of of are faultering a bit right now.
In my case, I (like Fluffy) took a week or so off 'cause my hips were hurting. More specifically, my IT band was getting overstressed. Then I started having back trouble (rib and low back), so I extended my rest. And here I am, still not ready to go back out there. SOoooooooo frustrating. And I am about to starte traveling again, which makes training tough. poo.
Mayness - sorry to hear you took a break too, but all in all, I'm kinda glad you're still here! We'll make it - we just have to keep trying!!!
I dunno, but having an overuse injury kinda made me feel like a real runner again - not that its a desirable thing, but for some reason it takes the edge off the ouchies to know they came from trying too hard!

Hi all! I've been out of town this past week. Despite my best intentions, I didn't have a chance to run at all last week. However, I did quite a bit of walking. Now, I'm back home and my schedule will not allow me to work out until Thursday. I think I will repeat W6D3 since I didn't run the full 25 minutes at the 5K. So, I'll try and complete that before moving on.
Oh, I downloaded Gotta Fly Now (Theme from Rocky). That song really motivates me to go for it. :D

I just started Week 8. The 28 minute jog. My pace is pretty slow and I did about 2 miles in that time. Jogged the entire 28 minutes! :woohoo:
I never thought I would be able to do it, but I really think I will get to 3 miles!

Woo! Great job, Lori!!
I'm only on week one, so it's still insane to think that in just a few weeks I should be able to do a full 28 minute jog!!
