Default Frustrated, Need to Rant

I started last week and Monday was my first weigh in. I gained a pound. I was so good all week long and then I guess I sabotaged myself on Sat. ( I drank a lot) I just didn't think that one day could blow my entire week of hard work. Not to mention that I just assumed that I would lose big the first week. I'm just really frustrated. Had to get it off my chest.

You didn't undo all your hard work by drinking on Saturday. Unless you drank 3,500 calories worth of alcohol and had not created a deficit earlier in the week.

We tend to think that little things - days - meals - etc - make or break our diets/weight loss efforts. This is simply not true. It's what you do over the long term that counts. That one day of drinking may have been a poor choice but it certainly didn't undo everything.

The most likely scenario is that the alcohol caused you to hold water weight for your weigh-in. Your WI was barely 48 hours afterwards. Hang in there, keep doing good things this week, and I bet the scale will show you some love next WI.

Hang in there! You've just started out, and I think it takes a little getting used to.

Are there other possible variables? When I'm premenstrual, I gain at least a couple pounds of water weight.

Keep at it, and I'm sure the weight will start coming off.
