South Beach Diet - Cravings question

Why is it that when ever I start a new diet, I start craving foods I normally don't eat.
I've got a bad craving for ice cream, and chocolate. I can't remember the last time I've had either! So if I can normally live with out them, why do I want them now? It can't be just the sugar.

It probably is part of the sugar. Also, I've noticed that when I know I can't have something...I want it more than if I was eating normally without restrictions. But it mostly is the body wanting sugar... Make some sf chocolate pudding... that helps, get some lf no sugar added fudgesicles..those'll help too. :)

I can't really have ice cream - because I'm lactose intolerant, and same goes for pudding. I'm not a big chocolate person either. I have it in the house all the time - for guests, and usually end up tossing it because it gets old.
It just doesn't make any sense to me. I don't remember these cravings the last time I started P1. and I've only been on it officially for 2 days.

cravings for SPECIFIC FOODS are in your head.... ignore them.
if you are hungry have some veggies and some protein... string cheese and green peppers eggs and tomatoes... cottage cheese and cucumbers... etc.
