I am trying to plan my DD birthday party. I was wanting to do a fruit tray. I am not sure what fruits to put on the tray. I was thinking strawberries (her party is Strawberry Shortcake) and pineapple. She really likes apples. However, I don't know a way to keep them from turning brown. I don't like the melons or cantaloupes. So, I was trying to stay away from them.

Any suggestions????

If not apples, what about peaches? They can be cut into the same types of slices. Also, slices of kiwi may be nice.

You can toss apple slices in a bit of orange juice to keep them from browning (lemon juice works too, but effects the taste.)

Any fresh fruit will work on a fruit tray, but why not add some dry in for variety? Dried apricots, dates, apples, and papaya are all large enough for a fruit platter.

If you want to stop the apples from changing its colors... mix some water and lemon juice. Spray this on the apples. Not too much. just enough to cover the surface of the apples. :)

Sprite pop also works on the apples and isn't as tart. We just had my DS b-day party last weekend & I also did a fruit tray. I used 2 kinds of grapes, strawberries, apples, melon, blueberries and kiwi. I know you said you don't care for melon, but some of the guests might, just a thought!!
