Morning everyone! I over slept and missed water aerobics. I should have gotten up with Tom but he was being nice and letting me sleep instead of getting up and fixing him espresso. In another week or two, we will have our pool open and I can just go so water aerobics right here. Can't wait! It sure has been cold the last few days though. Doesn't feel very encouraging.

I have a kiln load of glazed stuff cooling...can't wait to get it open! :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Morning! I was glad to see the new board hyperlink, thought I might lose track! For me just seeing the weight drop on all the tickers is encouraging! We just had 3 nights of freezing weather here and I got all the exercise I needed wrapping/unwrapping and toting pots inside and out! Whew! Glad that is over for the year. I think I am going to lock my scale in the trunk of the car...I tend to weigh several times in a day and it drives me nuts and I do it anyway! So far 8 lbs gone and maintaining! Exercise will not be a problem for today b/c my 4 yr old (almost 4) GD is coming for the night. Hope you all have a good day! ~~Peggy

Morning All,

Way to go Peggy - 8 lbs thats awesome!
Been there, done that with the scale. It's hard not to, but I find I really enjoy the big surprise on Monday weigh in if I stay off them all week.

Gym - Hope you're feeling better soon. My throat is still really sore and scratchy but the gargling with salt water really does help to sooth it. Thanks for the tip Solly.

Ellen - must be heaven to have a pool. I'd probably look like a prune, love being in the water. Feels so good on the aches and pains. :-)

Welcome to the new ladies, this is a great group.

Sunshine here in BC, hope the sun is shining where ever you are.

Just a quick check-in. Well, 2008 just hasn't been a good year and we're only a quarter in. We buried my great grandmother Saturday and my other grandmother(her daughter) is terminal with cancer. Then last Monday, I totalled my Outlander. But no injuries. Then Monday, Boogie woke up white as a ghost..even his gums. His heartrate was 100 bpm. He didn't have a fever which would have explained it, so off to the ER we go..guess what it was? Not his heart..his blood sugar! It was 50. So after drinking a cup of OJ, he pinked right up and was fine. Scared us though. He has his cardiology checkup next Wednesday. Oh, and can you believe he will be 8 years old this coming Monday? Doesn't seem like it. Work is calling me..check back later on.

Hi Laurie,
Sorry to hear about all your sorrows. They do seem to come all at once. Question for you: I see you have lost alot of weight. AWESOME!!!!
Did you have any trouble with loose skin or did you have exercises or creams or what-have-you to help your skin stay toned. With 80 lbs to lose I really worry about the hanging skin.

Good morning everyone. I love a new board. I overslept this morning so missed my trip out with my friend today. I was so mad at myself but my alarm didn't go off. This evening a lady is coming over to help me clean. I'll be so glad and the house is such a mess. It sure feels funny getting up and knowing Steve's not here and I've got the whole day ahead without anyone. Weird..... Hope he gets home this week end. Eating was okay yesterday.

Welcome to the new people. I'm sorry I didn't say so earlier.... Hope you love it here.

Ellen- It looks like we started our day out right.... LOL Sorry you missed the pool today.

Peggy-:cloud9: Wow 8 lbs. is soooooo good. Congrads....:carrot:

155- Got our sun out here too..... Have a happy day...

heartmom- Oh my gosh you've had a rough time of it. I'm so sorry for your Grandmother. And sorry you lost your Great Grandma. You're so lucky you didn't get hurt in the wreck. Were you alone? Good thoughts for Boogie. What a scare.....

Off I go. Got to have more coffee....

Hey Everyone--I have a few min my car is gettin gits oil changed so I walked home.

Went to the dr today, and all I have is an asthma flair up. granted it was really sever, hence the cough for 5 days. They changed my asthma MEds and so far so good. The coughing had decreased a lot, the hurt is just about gone and breathing has become so much easier. YAY..I hope I can resume the gym tomorrow. According to the dr scale I was 172-So another pound loss. I am going to wait until Friday to make it offical but I am hoping it was correct.

Peggy-Congrats on the 8 pounds, and thanks for the get well wishes!!

Toni-I am sorry you over slept..That stinks but your body must have really needed the extra rest. Just make another date.

Monet-Geesh sleeping in must have been on the adjenda today. I wish it would just get warm and stay warm.

155-Geesh I hope you feel better as well. Probally not the best but last month when I has a sore throat I used sugar free cough drops in menthol. They tasted funny but for me they worked great. Might be worth a try. Is it just a sore throat or a cold as well?

laurie-Nice to hear from you. I am so sorry so much rotten stuff has happened. I too feel as though everything happens all at once. I can only get better from here. *HUGS* Hope your day is at least going ok. Glad your son recovered. I agree time does fly. I have been nanning for the same family & years today. it flew.

Toni-How goes it!!! Enjoy the time alone. Read a book or something you wouln't normally do. Yay for cleaning help--But I wouln't want someone toughing my stuff so Id be a pain in the neck as they were cleaning. Enjoy the help.

Solly-How goes it today? Hope all is well..:)

Ok Everyone else enjoy your day I must go change and get my car before my next class. TTFN!!!

155- I do have some loose skin but not like the people you see on TV. I lost mine slowly so that helped. Lotions are a waste of money. Exercise is your best bet..and not trying to have any rapid losses. I'll never sport a bikini, but I look okay:smug: Ask yourself is it worth a little loose skin or would you rather be overweight and possibly unhealthy and not happy? I was complaining of my skin one day when a friend asked me that..I look at it differently now. I'll take some loose skin over being miserable with myself anyday. Usually the people you see on TV with their belly skin hanging to their knees lost their weight entirely too fast, not giving their body any adaptation time..and not much exercising.

Evening everyone. Eating has been pretty darn good today. B- 2 boiled eggs, pumpernickel toast and a little OJ. L - was a lean cusinene dinner and D- fish, brussel sprouts and a salad. I'm full and hope it stays with me. I tried a new girl to clean today and really like her. Of course I would shes my DIL's sister and a real sweetheart and such a good worker. So the house looks good. With heart trouble theres so much I can't do. Hope everyone has a good evening....

:hug:Morning all my SB friends! Having coffee :coffee:to get me going this morning. As soon as I take Emily to Pre-K I am coming home and opening every window in the house and enjoy this beautiful day here! Going to 76 today! :sunny: Eating is going well, last night I did BBQ ribs on the grill using some homemade BBQ sauce I found the instructions for on the board here. And I tried the cauliflower casserole and I have to admit it all tasted so good!
TONI~~~I envy you for having help with cleaning. I am getting to where all I do is clean and yet my house is never clean enough to suit me! I have thought of hiring help but I just can't make my mind up to actually do it!
Heartmom~~ I like your way of thinking! Your weight loss is amazing and I just hope I can do it myself!
GymRat~~ Hope you feel better on the new meds!
I have to be going. :scooter: I hope you all have a great day!~~Peggy

Hiya,

So I just came back from a 90 min walk that is a little over 5 miles and spans 2 towns. HAHA It is so much easier to walk outside than on a treadmill. This was me "taking it easy" I am not supposed to over strain my lungs until I completely stop wheezing, and although the gym can be modified, I opted to walk in the sun instead. It is at least 75 degrees outside. Im so happy for the nice weather to finally be here.

Heartmom-I agree with you on the loose skin. Id take skin over fat any day. time plays a big part of how the body "recovers' so to speak after weight loss. At first I though I wanted to lose quickly but as time is going along I am happy with the slower(er) progress for that reason. Glad your progress has made you happy as well.

Toni-Glad the cleaning person worked out well. Hope your food day is going as well as it did yesterday!!!

Peggy-Thanks, Yeah I think the new meds are fixing it. I feel 1000x better today. Thanks for asking! We are having a beautiful weather day here as well. Im so excited. Your dinner sounds yummy. I will have to look up that bbq sauce recipe, because my sister makes this really yummy dinner using bbq sauce. the first Ingredient is High fructose corn syrup. HA I always have to make my own dinner. If I had the better version im sure she would use it. Thanks so much for posinting that out!! Enjoy the rest of your awesome day.

Solly-Geesh girl, where are you?? You haven't even said hello in the new thread. Hopefully you are just enjoying the weather and having a great few days.

Ellen-Ha, I go back and forth with Ellen and Monet. I never do it on purpose. Not sure what youd prefer. Anyway's, hope your day is going well. Did you go to water aerobics today? Thats great that you have a pool. For me that would be like having a treadmill. An awesome though, but id never actually use it. hehe Hope all is well!

155-Enjoy your day!! How is your throat? Feeling any betteR?

Geesh where is everyone else?? The warm weather gets here and poof..Everyone disappear?? LOL

Hope everyone else is having a great day...:)

Oh For the first time in about 4 years the first "hot" day hasn't been dreaded. I got dressed and I put on shorts smaller than last year and the buttoned and zipped with xtra room. I am so happy I did something in Dec and didn't wait until April like usual to figure out "crap I need to loose weight before June" Its such an awesome feeling. Ok Im off to read before work!! :)

Just a fly by,

Been busy and it's almost time to go home. Should have time to get on in the morning.

Just a note to 155. It depends on how old you are and the elasticity in your skin. Heartmom is younger than me. I am 55. After losing 105 lbs my thighs hang low. I need a "lift" starting at my knees. I had a tummy tuck due to my breast cancer and reconstruction so no problem there. Just wish they could have taken more. Now when I gain wt, it appears in my boobs which is really my stomach!!!!!

To everyone:  Have a great evening.

Evening Ladies,
Busy day didn't get a chance to sneak on at work.

Thanks for all the replies on the loose skin. I'm almost 50 and have no wrinkles so I'm hoping that's a good sign that my skin is still in good condition (unlike me) ;-0

Gym - I seem to have started out with a sore throat but now it's gone into my ears. Feels like I listening to people from under water. Woke up with a killer earache in the middle of the night. Glad you're on the mend. Like your new picture.

Finally have a night off from the 2nd job but I have work to do for the SPCA so gotta run. Hope everyone has a great evening and a sunny tommorow!

Good morning my SB friends. I know I haven't been on in ages ,but I have just been so busy with work and taking care of everyone else that something had to give. I am very happy to hear that so many of you have been loosing.:carrot:

It is definitely not easy to maintain a healthy eating plan when special occasions come up. I've had a couple of those lately, and really took adavantage of the situation.:( I did get back on track, and since the weather has been lovely here, I've been outside a lot doing yard work.

I still have a problem with my weight tracker. I can post it when that's all I paste in a post, but I can't figure out how to have it post automatically at the end of all my posts. Any help with that would be greatly appreciated.

Gym- wtg with the weight loss. I'm also happy to hear you're feeling better. Stay well.

dtrmnd-happy planting!! In a few months you'll have the best tasting veggies!!

155-I also worry about the loose skin. I noticed after I had my children, my mid section just stretched out so far that the elasticity is really poor there. My belly isn't too big, but it does hang down further than I'd like it to. Now that I'm at a weight where exercising isn't a killer, I'm really going to try to get toned. Like heartmom said, I'll take loose skin over diabetes, heart problems and strokes.

solly-better to gain weight in the "boobs" I always say!

peggy-Isn't it wonderful to be able to get those windows open and breath in that spring air. I plan on doing the same thing when it warms up a bit later. I will have to try the cauliflower casserole, as cauliflower is one of my favorite veggies. Congrats on the 8lb. loss.:carrot: Enjoy your granddaughter. My parents call all their grandchildren their "little dividends."

toni-what a wonderful feeling to have help with the house. I always say I want a cleaning lady every 2 weeks, but I never do it. I always end up doing it myself. I think part of me is too cheap to fork over all the money they charge. Plus it's good exercise and I don't get enough of that. I didn't realize you had heart trouble. Stay healthy.

heartmom-I'm so sorry to hear you had such an awful week. I'm happy to hear that your son is okay, and as for the car, well that's what we have insurance for. As long as no one was hurt, that's all that matters.

bob-My daughter does have a roommate in Manhattan. You can't afford the rent there without one. She lives right around the corner from Madison Square Garden, in the Chelsea section. Their closet, oops, I mean apartment, is $2,200.00 a month. And as a special bonus they get roaches every month or so.;) But she loves it, and as long as she's happy, I'm happy.

I'll try to post my weight tracker now, but I'm sure it won't work. I lost 4 pounds over the past 2 weeks, so down to 170.:dancer:

Let's just hope they are gone forever! I really did not "deserve/earn " the loss...last night I did NOT eat right...had corndogs! I know this is a no no! :frypan: Funny how you feel so guilty over it! :stars:
CHRIS~~~you and I weigh the same...for this second in time anyway! If I go get back on the scale I may find the "Corndogs" there! I wish I was NOT so addicted to the scales!
155~~~~I hope you get better soon, earaches are the worst! Be careful, last week my nephew ended up in the ER (sore throat and ear ache) and it turned out as streph!
GYM~~~I wish I had your motivation! All that walking!:woohoo:
Dtrmnd~~~The best of planting to you! We have a small garden spot and only have half of it tilled:(
Hello to the rest of you and I hope we all have a great day!:flow1:

I haven't run away again. Life has just been busy. My aunt is still in ICU so I've been at my mom's most of the week cooking and helping her out. Today we went and saw my daughter. Eating has been pretty good. I finally got under 170 without the scales being broken...LOL

Hopefully next week I'll be able to visit at the board more. Reading everyone's post really helps me to stay motivated and focused. Congratulations to all those who lost weight and to those who keep on trying. ((Everybody))

Hi everyone...just popping in and, as usual, just like praying to God, I only come here when I'm having problems. I have two threads about home schooling and co-ed gym class over in the General Chatter area if you'd like to read them. Shelley's going through some tough times and I'm doing my best to help her.

The shop is picking up quite a bit with the snowbirds coming back! Who cares about the robins!! They don't need haircuts!! :)

Eating is horrendous. I have to get under control, but I'm just stressed and have no time to shop properly. Derek remains in Michigan this week and had to stay the weekend and should be back later this week. We miss him terribly. We've gone from having him around ALL the time, to not having him around at all and it's been a tough adjustment. I'm hoping he can stick close to home after this stint.

Okay..I have to go make something healthy for breakfast. I went to Watertown yesterday to shop, but didn't get there until 3pm and after shopping for a good hour and a half for a bathing suit for Shelley and finding none and bringing her to tears, we went to eat dinner and came home. And it was HOT and we both felt like sweaty pigs. 85 degrees here at 4pm!! In April!! Weird!!

Okay...I'm going to get moving. I'm going to do very light shopping at the corner store and then go grocery shopping tomorrow if I can. I have to talk to the principal about Shelley and Monday is my only day off to do ANYthing. I tell you...I really regret starting this shop. I love it, but hate it as it takes up ALL of my time that I need to be a mom. I wish I had just waited a few years until the kids were older.

Morning Everyone,

Very busy weekend, worked both day shifts at my 3rd job! Feeling a little better though, throat is not quite so sore. Found the salt water gargle helps and making sure I have lots and lots of water. Soon as I'm dehydrated my throat starts to hurt.

Finally decided to give my notice at the pub. Now I will have weekends to myself. Will miss the money but figure the part-time job Mon, Tues, Wed nites will make up most of $. Feels like a weight lifted.

Oh ya, on the weight - I'm down another 4 lbs. I think sugar busters is obiviously the way the live for my body. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything and the weight is coming off. So glad a friend told me about it.

I don't even say I'm dieting, I just say I staying away from sugar, white flour and over processed foods because they don't agree with me.

Now it's time to get with the toning and strength training so I can have a little loose skin as possible.

Hope everyone has a great weight in today. Thanks for all the support. You gals are GREAT!!!!!

Cheers

Happy monday,

Well Id love to say that my 20 pouns target kept me in check this weekend. Sadly it did not. I will have a lot of work to do to make up for it if I want to maintain the loss, and hope to hell I do. The weekend was a mix of sugar foods and sugar free snacks in abundance. I paid for it this am though. One would think id learn..I don't

So far b-2 pc toast and jelly
s-grapes
l-tuna on pita with 2 pickles

I didn't work out persay, but I taught camp for 3 hours, and did a few things in the gym room. I kept my heart rate monitor going and from 8-1 I burned about 1500 calories so thats always a good thing.

Hope everyone had a good weekend!! It's a beautiful day here, maybe i'll go sit outside and read. Lata!

Howdy ya'll. The dentist visit went well. The tooth came out in one piece. Considering the font half was missing I feel very blessed. My face still feels funny. :)

Eating is going well. Exercise is another story. Last week I spent Wed. Thrus. and Friday at my mom's so no time to walk...errrr But this is a new week so a fresh start right?

155...you are SO right. It is a way of eating versus a diet. Knowing that really helps in the long run. I've been eating this way since 2002 I think...it may have been 2003. I lost focus about 18 months ago and I paid for it. :) Congratulations on all your sucesses so far.

Tech...awesome on the snowbirds coming back. I hope you stay very busy.

Gym...just jump right back on the wagon. You are still doing a GREAT job.

Monet...Bob...Solly...Peggy...Chris...Heartmom...T oni...Beth...Everybody ((hugzz)) I pray ya'll have a great week.

Good Afternoon Fellow SB's! It is good to hear the ones that weren't feeling so well are getting better! And it is good to see the ones who have been missing back!
CountryMom4Him~~~I am glad you finally got that tooth out and I know you are too. How is your your Aunt doing? 155~~~~It was good to hear you could let one of your jobs go. I too have worked 2 and 3 jobs and it is HARD! Hope your throat is better today as well. And congratulations on losing 4 pounds!
TechMom~~~I have trouble with breakfast meals too! I guess it is b/c I don't like breakfast much! I think I am going to make some bran muffins and try them for a while.
Gym~~~Hope things go better for you this week on the weight!

Crystal, glad the tooth came out fine. Dentists are not my favorite thing to do. How is your aunt doing?

Gym, weekends are so hard. Got to keep something in focus to help you through it, You realize this is saying do as I say not as I do talking. I'm right there with you.

155, you are doing so great and I love your attitude. You will succeed, I know it. Congrats on the wt loss. I don't see how you did 3 jobs to start with. I know that is a relief.

Tech, glad the shop is picking up. I hope Derrick gets home soon. Don't feel bad about having the shop now. I thought you adjusted your hours to be home when the kids got home?

Heartmom, :balloons: :hat: Hope you have a wonderful birthday. Praying that Boogies appt turns out great.

Peggy, hope you are having a great day.

Chris,

Toni, where are you? Is Steve home yet?

Monet, are you busy throwing?

Bob, where are you?

Had a busy weekend. We shoveled mulch all day Saturday and finally finished our landscaping bricks. SUnday I cleaned house all day. I am happy to report the scale is finally moving down. Today I was under (just barely) the 180. I needed the motivation and am trying really hard to be on track. We have been walking at night so I am sure that has helped. I have not been back to the gym in awhile. It is too pretty to be stuck inside.
Got to run to a meeting. Hope to check in tomorrow. Have a great day.

Morning! I have been MIA again. I am working on a project I am really into, and not doing much else with my free time other than thinking it through.

Yesterday my potter friend came to visit and we went to lunch and the pottery supply place near here. It was good to see her and catch up. I have not gone to north Georgia to see her in over five months, and only saw her briefly in February. I am going up there Tuesday to work and visit, so I am looking forward to that.

We ate lunch at a little bistro in the old downtown area of the 'burb near the pottery supply place. I got a hamburger, and they served it on whole wheat. I liked that they did not automatically add french fries, or chips. They were extra. Too bad more restaurants don't do it that way. Maybe more people would skip them.

Today I must throw some larger bowls for the project I mentioned above. Then my calligrapher friend is coming over to work with me on the project putting some Bible verses on the bowls. This is a commission for the church....

And the big news is that Tom opened the pool! The water is REALLY cold right now, and I have not been able to get all the way in it yet, but he put some solar stuff in last night that is supposed to help warm it up. Yay! I am looking forward to being able to swim here instead of driving 20 minutes to the gym.

I also must glaze today, and fire some stuff. I will check back in later if I can!

Yea! I think I have the ticker going now! I went to the dr's office today to have a nerve conduction test on my legs...that thing was OUCHY! My nerve conduction must be fine b/c my legs were jumping all over that table! Made me think of people talking about frying frog legs in a hot skillet and how they can jump. How is that for a mental image? LOL Bad thing was my weight! I am up 4 pounds on the digital scale. Arrrrrgh! Time to get things together here! Solly~~I think I printed a recipe you posted a few yrs back yesterday and I know I printed some of Bob's...where is she anyway? Hope you all have a great day. ~Peggy

Afternoon Ladies,
Exactly how do you get the tracker and the cute little happy faces, etc.
I'm a graphic designer but I'm Mac based.
Peggy - Must be doctor week, now that I'm getting close to the big 50 my doctor has decided to send me to a doctor about having a colonscopy. Yuck!!!!
That's where I'll be in about an hour.
Hi to everyone, Heartmom (happy belated birthday), Ellen, Solly, GymRat.
Hope you all have sunshine in your worlds today.

Thanks Gym. I think I have it now...we will know when I post and it either appears or not! I am not good with things like this and what works for others seems to never work for me! But I think i have it. See if you can help 155 with it also? I don't want to confuse her since I am not sure what I am doing myself!
155~~~yep, when you hit 50 doc's want to do everything but slice and dice you! The test you mentioned is not too bad, they have improved greatly in the past 10 years when I had my first. I could not believe it was over when I did the second one last year...they have improved THAT much! :p Please know how important this test is...2 yrs ago my ex husband died at 55 from colon cancer. It brings you such peace of mind it is well worth the temp discomfort. I have asked Gym to give you a hand on the weight tracker thing, she knows more about it than I do. ~Peggy

Ooh Peggy, I'm so sorry to hear about your husband. He was so young. This is such a preventable cancer and I still can't believe how many people just won't get it done.. I'm going for mine May 1st. I'm only 46, but my doctor believes in early detection. I'll let you know how healthy I am on May 2nd.

Take care.

I hear you Peggy, there is a history of colon cancer in my family so I think staying on top on it is a good idea for peace of mind.
Sorry about your ex-husband. 55 is way too young. My sister-in-law who I have know since Grade 6 just passed away at the end of March from lung cancer. Lord, it's a horrible disease. She was just 50.
My test is scheduled for May 30, friday morning so I have the weekend if I do have any discomfort. Small price to pay.
Really feeling good about giving up the waitress/bartender job. Can't wait for this weekend's shifts to be over so I'll have weekends to myself again.

Hi All...I am new to this site and to Sugar Busters! I had a few questions about some food items and am hoping you might have the answers.. I know that the sugar has to be less than 3gm per serving to be "legal." What if something has tiny amount of honey or other sweetener in the ingredients but is only 1gm of sugar per serving? Would that still be okay?
Also are the following foods "legal?" for SB?
Spelt pasta
wheat germ
Isomalt (sweetener)
Rice noodles
Soba(buckwheat) japanese noodles

I have to say that getting the sugar out of my system was really tough..took about a week, before I felt 'normal' again! But, I am surprised at how strong my willpower has been , especially since I still keep some sweets in my home for my kiddos. Thanks in advance for any help!
Ashley;-)

Good Morning everyone,

Phew I have an entire day off today. This whole week I have been on "vacation" from my nanny job, but I woked m-w @ my fitness job teaching kid camps. I have been so tired my the time Id get home I opted to not offically go to the gym. I am sure camp was a work out but I thought id give myself the break this week. I am taking today to rest and read and relax. At least that is the plan.

I am no role model this week, my eating has been awful. I hvae done great until about 3 when I think I just crash. I am back to wanting sweet and sugar and I am not sure if it is because it's finally warm that I am reminded of the summer. Once my adjenda gets back to normal hopefully things wil go back to normal.

Greys is finally back tonight so I am excited.

Peggy-
Hope your having a good day so far.

Risekrispi-Welcome to our fun little board. Ask any of the questions and usually someone knows the answers. As far as the foods you listed--The only one I could find in the book was whole grain spelt past as being legal. On the noodles Id say no, unless it's brown rice noodles. Im sorry I can't be 100% sure. Ellen or solly could probably help you more. Wow great job keeping sugar in your house and not eating it. I am at the point right now where my will power is shot--but im working on getting it back!

Chris-Good luck at the dr's when you do go.

155-On the tracker, again up at the top of the page there is a link marked "Quick Links" Under that should come up a list of things. Click on the>>SIG WEIGHT TRACKER and it brings you to the place where you can configure your weight tracker. Once you have built it the way you like, it gives you a code. Take that code and place it into the signature box in your profile page. Again the link can be found under the "quick links" and make sure you save it. My advise is before you go through all the trouble to make a weight tracker and aren't sure where it goes. I'd fiddle with the sig box first just to make sure it's working. You also shouldn't need to post a "test" post. It will revert back to all of your previous posts if it is working properly. Good luck. If you need more help just ask!

Ellen-Ellen enjoy your pool when it finally gets warm enough to be in it. And the bowls for the church sound really cool. Good luck with suck a neat project!

Solly-Yeah, Its tough and I can't always practice what I preach. I can only hope the good days out weigh the bad moments. At least your walking, im happy to stay in and veg. argg. Im sure the weight will keep creeping down if you keep walking.

I have to find something to do--or at the very least brush my teeth. HAHA Have a good day everyone!

Good morning ya'll. I haven't been awake quite long enough so I can barely read my typing.. :) 30 more minutes and my eyes will focus. It has been a really good week so far. Yesterday I finally got a walk in. The kiddos had youth at church and I walked around the arena while they had their lesson.

Gym....hang in there. I think everyone has those times when we get off track and sugar likes to TRY and take control. Just remember you can DO IT!

Ellen...I'm gonna try hard to remember and use this name. You have been Monet to me for so long. I hope your pool warmed up nicely and you have had a chance to get in and enjoy. We had to take our pool down and I'm not sure that we are going to get another. The boys don't play in it nearly as much as there sister did and she is gone this year.

Welcome Rice Krispy Treat! I'm not 100 percent sure about the noodles but I know that buckwheat is legal so depending on the rest of the ingredients I don't see why they wouldn't be. The rice noodles I would think are illegal. Wheat germ I'm pretty sure is okay. The sweetener I've never heard of. I hope that you enjoy this board as much as I do.

Peggy and Solly thanks for asking about Aunt Mary. She is still in ICU. It is unbelievable that it's been over 3 weeks. They are trying to get her ready to move to a step down room but her lungs are filling up again. She doesn't like hospital food so my mom takes her food almost every night which she will eat.

Heartmom...I hope Bogey's appointment went well and that you both enjoyed your birthday's.

Toni...hey where are you hiding? ((hugzz))

Bob...thinking of you also. ((hugzz))

((Everybody)) Time has run out and I need to get moving this morning. Each of you is a blessing an important part of this board.

Love and hugs,

thank you Peggy, GymRat, and Country Mom for your warm welcome to the board. I also greatly appreciate your answers to my questions.. and yes, GymRat, having 'junk' food in the house has been a real true test of my will power! But, strangely enough I have found that I don't really crave those things anymore...(completely shocking to me of course, because I used to crave sugar!) My kids can eat their goodies right in front of me and it really doesn't bother me anymore. In fact today, I even baked cupcakes for my son's class book party, and did not even lick the spoon! And, cupcakes were one of my absolute favorite treats, besides rice krispi treats , of course! hehe.
I have made the whole wheat tortilla pizza recipe from this site, and have really enjoyed them! Some of my current fave SB meals/snacks are... steamed veggies and brown rice, grilled steak with salad and sweet potato oven baked fries..(very yummy!), tuna salad on whole wheat pita, turkey sandwich(on whole wheat pita), humus and toasted ww pita points or celery sticks, olives, cheese omelets, greek salads, grilled chicken caesar salad, string cheese and nuts, and unsweetened iced tea with lemon. Hope I am on the right path with those choices. If not, please jump in and coach me ! Haven't tried the ww pasta yet, not sure which tomato sauce has no sugar, any suggestions please? I have a recipe that I have used for years, and I never added sugar to it, would that be okay to continue to use? I can post it if you want..Thanks again...im so glad i found this board. IT IS JUST GREAT!!:-)

Happy Friday ladies

I'm sure glad this week is over. Next week will be a whirlwind being Derby Week. I have to go to the track Tuesday and Wed for work next week and then again Friday for Oaks and maybe Saturday. We have not decided if we will go to the Derby or just to a party. After the Oaks, we have an Oaks Party. It will be a long and tiring week.
I could not get on the site yesterday at all. I have a hard time with this site. it takes forever to load.

We have a birthday party tomorrow evening and that's about all that is planned for the weekend, other than the usual cleaning and laundry. Yuck!

Monet, glad you got your pool opened. It will warm up faster there than here. My DD used those solar things, but I didn't see much difference. Hope your get your project done soon.

Peggy, I had that nerve test done, no fun. It was really painful in my feet. Hope it turned out ok. Sorry about your ex-husband, boy that was young.

155, Hope your colonoscopy went well. I had one in December. I didn't even know I had it done. I highly recommend it to any one over 50. Even the prep was no big deal. I think they have changed all that for the better. Sorry to hear about your SIL. Lung cancer is a nasty disease and she was way too young.

Ashley, :welcome: This is a great group and someone will be able to help if you need it. I beleive spelt is legal, as well as wheat germ. Can't answer onthe rest. I do know buckwheat is legal. I can't beleive you made cupcakes and didn't even lick the spoon. Great Job! I buy the blended wheat pasta by Ronzoni. My family just doesn't like the WW kind so that is the best I can do and we only eat it every other week.

Gymrat, Come on girl, you can do this. Find some type of SF sustitute when you crave something sweet, like SF, FF pudding or a piece of 75% chocolate. Make the cheesecake. Plan ahead and be prepared, I know you can do it. I was glad Grey's was back last night too. Sorta gory wasn't it?

Crystal, Hope your aunt gets to move out of ICU soon. 3 weeks is a long time. Good job on your eatinga nd walking this week. You are my motivation. Have a great weekend.

Got to get started. Have a great weekend

:( Ok Ladies...here's the thing...I am FINALLY going to buy groceries for this diet. I had most of what I needed to get started but it is time to replenish and truly buy for the SB diet. This morning I had a biscuit and sausage gravy :nono: death on a plate! So it is time to get "with it" big time! I am a die hard procrastinator so just say a prayer for me! The cabbage diet did get me off to a good start but I know I can't live on cabbage! :kickcan:
Solly[B][B] It is good to see you and I do not envy your week coming up! You are going to be very busy! I agree about the test. Lordy that thing hurt on the tops of my feet! Ankles and backs of legs was not too bad after that. Thank you for your thoughts on our loss. It was tragic for us. He had felt bad for several weeks, thought he had the flu and then took so ill he was hospitalized. He was up North working, we got him home and in 28 days he was gone. At least he did not linger in pain. I married him when I was 16 and we were married 28 yrs and had one son. We had been divorced about 7 yrs and I had married about 2 yrs before this. My husband now understood I still loved David but it was such a different kind of love than when we married so many years ago. He stood beside my decision to have my ex-husband come back and he was a great source of strength to me as I cared for him (the ex) during his illness. I have such admiration for him for being so strong...it allowed me the space I needed to let go and help my son through the loss of his father. My son was grown but he and his Dad were very close. Oh Me...sorry I got long winded here...all of that really had a long lasting impact on all of us. I hope your next week is a good one!
Morning to the rest of you and I hope your weekend is a nice one too! ~Peggy

Afternoon,

I've been doing so good but I seem to have a craving that I can't quite put my finger on. I'm just not sure what kind of food it is that I want. Sweet - salty - sweet - salty, you know what I mean, one of those afternoons.

Gee, Peggy you really are lucky to have such an understanding husband, your ex was very fortunate to have both of you. I know what you mean about exs, I still have a soft place in my heart for mine and always will. As time goes by all the bad memories that were part of the breakup fade and only the good ones remain. Funny how that works.
By the by, love your picture.

Solly, what do you do at the track? That must be an interesting job. I'd love to be able to work around horses or dogs, pretty much anything on 4 legs. :-)
The Derby must be so much work but so exciting.

Ellen, Happy weekend to you, hope the pottery goes well.

Welcome Krispy, great group here who are very welcoming. I'm just a newbie myself.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, I'm spending it at the Farmer's Market selling raffle tickets for the SPCA.

What a nice day for posts! I appreciate you guys/girls/women (what IS politically correct???? so much! I double worked that deadly biscuit and sausage "grave"/gravy biscuit I had this morning off by doing yard yard (burning brush piles and pulling weeds) Sheesh! Nothing like guilt to make you do double pittnance!
Rice! I love the "sound/taste" of this recipe! there is nothing I like more than tomatoes unless it is maybe....more tomatoes! I will be making this tomorrow and trying it tomorrow night! Thanks for sharing this! As much as I love this husband of mine I tell everyone his only flaw is he does NOT like tomatoes...can you image NOT liking tomatoes??????????? LOL
155 Yes my husband is a gem for sure and I never pass up a chance to let him know that! God was good to me, as you said it is funny how you forget the bad and remember more of the good at a time like that. We humans ARE funny beings aren't we?" Wait until I post the next picture...As we were havin gout tea party, I was telling Emily to hold up her pinky finger to show she was a true lady, she did exactly as I asked...held up her pinky finger on the OTHER HAND! I have never laughed so hard! I'll post it in a few days!

Howdy ya'll. Today is a good day. Aunt Mary is getting out of ICU and going back to the nursing home. She has been stuck in that bed for so long I know she will love to be among people again.

We had the best grilled Eggplant and Romaine hearts the other night. Some of the parmasan from the lettuce got on the eggplant, I was in heaven. I think I ended up eating a whole eggplant by myself. :) The garden is startig to grow a little bit. Hopefully we'll get some much needed rain this weekend. The okra still needs to be planted. I can't believe how lazy I have been this year. I'll probably wait until the middle of the week because we are having another really late cold front early in the week.

((Everybody)) Praying that each of you has a SUPER weekend and that you are able to stay OP.

God bless,

Peggy, I am glad that you will be giving the sauce a try tomorrow...you will have to let me know what you think of it! It's funny, because like your husband, I couldn't stand tomatoes...and then in college..I somehow developed a taste for them, and now I am hooked!
Ellen...will post it in Recipes section now..thanks for checking over the recipe for me...I am so glad to know it is SB legal!

Also, yesterday, I found a jarred tomato sauce in my local grocery store that has only 1gm of sugar! I'm getting good at this label reading! :-)
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! I am off to finish some spring cleaning around here..

Morning ladies,

I spent the weekend shopping, shopping and shopping and not much to show for it. I don't care if I ever shop again. Yesterdya we got pedicures and I got my nails done. Did not find the white top I was looking for. how hard can it be to find a white top. It is always that way when you are looking for something.

I probably won't be here much this week. Off Friday and 2 more days at the track and lots of work to do in the short time.

Peggy, you are truly blessed with a wonderful husband. Bisquits & gravy are my downfall also. Nothing better. At least you worked yours off.

Ellen, did you get your glaze figured out? We are missing you.

Chris, Hope you had a wonderful Easter.

155, I don't work at the track. I work for a construction company. In fact we do a lot of the construction work at the track here and in Lexington. We just go to the track one day with the whole office and then we are entertaining clients on day and I have to go along since one man is bringing his wife and have to entertain her. My DH & I will go Friday and maybe Derby Day. Friday is Derby Day for Louisvillians. The rest of the world enjoys the Derby. Acutally the whole week is becoming a Derby Day. It grows and grows. No one hardly works on Friday here. We have a big party to attend Thursday night and another one on Friday night. I'm already tired jut thinking about it.

Crystal, so glad your aunt got out of the hospital. Hope she gets better with each day. Hope you had a great weekend.

Ashley, what is the name of the spaghetti sauce you found?

Toni, where are you?

Bob, where are you hiding?

Got to get busy, Have a great day.

Hello -

I have read the SugarBusters book and I love it. I feel that someone the whole grain items make me want to eat more. So I am trying SugarBusters with my own twist, sort of lower carb sugar busters. Let me know what you think, my doctor thought it sounded great. He suggested SugarBusters.
Foods to avoid:
Sugar -Anything with sugar in it
bread * bread like items
rice
pasta
Corn
Fried foods

Limit:
Diet sodas
processed meat
Liquor
Coffee

Things I will continue to eat or use:
Fruit
Veggies
Greek Yogurt
Low fat milk

What do you think? Today is day one. :?:

Morning All,
Another 2 lb loss to report. Yipeeeeeeee!
14 lbs so far. Probably would have been more, but I discovered a really, really, really good no sugar ice cream that I kinda ODed on. :-)
Have a great day all, hope the scales are good to you.
Cheers
Shirley

kclewis,
Your lists look good to me, don't forget you can have whole wheat pastas, that are really yummy, and brown rice (I add some wild rice in too, tastes great)
I'm loving this way of eating. I don't have anything in my house that I shouldn't eat and it makes it so easy to prepare meals. I know whatever I put together so going to be good for me.
Hope your first day is great!

I've finally found my way back to this wonderful board! Work and home life has been crazy since the start of the year. I'm so glad the kids activities are winding down. Unfortunately, work is just getting worse.

Anyway, I fell off my eating a bit after Christmas. But not as bad as usual I may have gained 5 or so pounds. I don't own a scale so couldn't tell you for sure. :)

About a month ago my husband told me to make him a list of everything he could eat because he was going to start eating SB too. I about fell over! I have been eating this way on and off for almost 10 years now. So I have just gotten used to buying two sets of bread..tortillas..pasta. The works. It has been really nice. My 8 year old had to eat her first WW tortilla this week since I am not longer buying white. She said it tasted different but dealt with it. I am really liking this. The only downside.....I can't keep pita chips around. Between the kids and dh they disappear faster than I can make them! :)

I hope everyone is having a good Monday.

:chef:Rice! I don't know whether to hug :hug:you or hit :club:you! But I will opt towards the hug! The hit thought is two fold...you cook better than I do and I will have to cook this once a week at least because my husband loved it! The big old hug for it being soooo good and EASY tp prepare!! I have no idea how you came up on the recipe but it was the best sauce I have ever tasted. I did not have a bay leaf so I omitted that and the diced tomatoes so Kenneth would not have to pick them out...LOL. The mushrooms I put in the sauce ( no kids here to fuss), and I had two big bell peppers I chopped and threw in too. My thoughts were they would help the texture since I did not do the diced tomatoes. For my meat I used 1 pound ground turkey and 1/2 pound beef chuck. I still had to add a small amount of oil olive because there was so grease at all cooking off it! Oh and of course I used WW noodles. Very very good and I'll check to see if you posted in on the recipe board and do a review :judge:there! Believe me if Five stars are good I'd give you Six! :encore::encore::encore::hun: Thanks for sharing this with us. Now I have to go look for :dust: to eat only one portion size! ~Peggy

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

Just running through to let y'all know I'm still kicking. Although, last week I had to wonder. I have developed allergies and they are killing me. Between swollen and runny eyes, a nose that is so raw from blowing, and a dizzy head, I worked 1 day! I sure hope I don't have to start having shots on a regular basis!

IT'S DERBY WEEK!!! I can't wait! I'll do the DERBY DRAW Friday morning and we'll have a WIN, PLACE and SHOW pot. I'm going to see if we can get a good POT LUCK going for lunch that day. I still find it hard to believe that these people have NEVER had a DERBY POT before now!

WELCOME to everyone I missed who joined while I was off somewhere sneezing! Glad you all are here and hope you stay a while!

WELCOME BACK to all who have returned!

CRYSTLE....how are my BEANS coming along??? Should I start packing yet?

I got a really good belated birthday present today. My Brother and SIL had been gone to California and returned the night of my actual b-day. They called me and to be truthful, that was enough. BUT...today when the Mailman came a calling, there was a card with a crisp $50 bill in it! I did put it in the bank this afternoon. They are THE BEST!!

I'm off to find some supper to cook for us.

LATER....

I am even happier that it passes for SB legal, as it has always been an easy and favorite meal in my home of picky eaters! I like that you added the bell peppers, I will have to try that next time. :-) I will be happy to pass on some more of my favorites.

Solly.. The jar spaghetti sauce that I found in the grocery store ,(Shoprite), in the organic/natural foods aisle...is called Casa Visco. It is all natural, no salt or sugar added. The label says it contains 1gm sugar. 13gm carbs, 3gm Fiber. The website on the label is Casa Visco (dot) com I have been using it for making pizzas. It is really tasty sauce! Hope that helps!

Hope the rest of you are doing well and Sugar bustin'!

Ashley:-)

Solly...I meant to add that not all their flavors contain 1gm sugar. The one I bought is the Tomato Basil sauce.
Hope that helps..

Oh my gosh I've been so lazy or something. Just a little tired lately and haven't come on. All is fine here. Frost for tonight. Brrrrrrr. We're going to try to make our groceries last for a month so we did a huge shopping last week end. I may have to run into our little town for some produce but we've got a ton of food. We got a newer car. Steve bought it out of his Mother's estate. I love it, its a 2006 silver PT Cruiser. It's so nice not having to drive our truck all the time. Welcome to all the new ladies. Its so nice having you here. I wrote down the spaghetti sauce and will have to try it. Hope everyone is having a nice evening.....

Evening Ladies,
Well, I'm staying away from sugar but I seem to have developed a shoe fetish. 5 pairs of new shoes since Tuesday. Geez, I wonder if there are support groups for this? I went to the store on Saturday to get meat for supper and came home with 2 more pairs of shoes. What can I say the store beside the grocery store was having a sale. :-)
Hope everyone had a good day.
Chow for now

Good morning ladies,

Got a lot to do in a short time today. It is freezing here. Not the weather we want for Derby week. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow.

Toni, glad to see you. I bet you don't know what to eat first with all those groceries. Congratson the new car. I think those cars are cute.

Bob., Happy belated birthday. :hat: :balloons: Nine days ago. I had an old list of birthdays, just haven't seen it in awhile. Hope you had a great one! $50.00 is a nice surprise. Sorry you have had such a time with allergies. It is bad this year for some reason. My eyes are driving me crazy. Looks like I am crying all the time. Feel better.

155, You are my kind of girl. Nothing like a new pair a shoes to lift the spirits. You can never have too many shoes. :cheer: for your loss. You are doing great.

Ashley, you realize that the tomatoes have natural sugar in them so that is the source of many of the sugars. I have never seen that brand at Krogers (sorry BOB). I will have to try yours.

peggy, Now you have peaked my curiosity. I will have to make the sauce just to see how good it is.

Mel, glad to see you back. It will be so much easier with the whole family eathing this way. Good luck.

Ellen, (can't get used to that). How is your project coming?

Off to get a couple things done. I hope I have a winner today. With going 4 times this week, I will need some extra money from somewhere.

I need some help! My hubby bought some turkey breakfast sausage today and I noticed on the label is says..1gm sugar, yet the last ingredient listed is SUGAR! so does this make this non SB???! or is it okay because it is less than 3gm sugar.... I'm confused now !
Also, this might be TMI for some..but has anyone else been experiencing constipation on this diet???
Hope all are having a nice day...it happens to be Free Ice Cream Cone day at Ben & Jerry's today..and of course my oldest is nagging me to take them ...arrrgh!
Ashley :-)

Evening Ladies!
I have had a case of the 'blahs" today. Even getting out in the yard to work a while did not help it any. I guess not sleeping well last night did it! And my legs ached like crazy from all the walking I have been doing...that and the neuropathy. Yuck! enough of complaining.
Solly~~You won't regret trying Ashley's recipe! Boy it was good!
155~~Two pounds lost! Way to go!
Toni~~I have had a PT for 6 years and I love it still! The back seat holds 3 car seats with ease!
Bob~~ Happy belated B'day to you! Glad your feeling better too.
Chef Rice~~I would love more of your recipes!
Where is Gym? Hope you all had a nice Tuesday! Peggy

Hello everyone! I had quite a weekend... A young couple that we have kind of adopted had been trying for seven years to have kids. Well, they got pregnant and Sunday the baby was born. The mom was expecting a boy but it was a whopping ten pound three ounce girl! It was a very difficult and long labor, so I was up all Saturday night checking for updates, and then they called here at five to ask us to pray for them. They came home today and I am taking them dinner tomorrow. Woo hoo! I have decided to treat their daughter like my grand baby...so now I have a granddaughter too!

Today, I went up to North Georgia to work with my friend. It was the first time I had been up there to work since before November. It was great hanging out and catching up, and I got a LOT done. We used the extruder and made vases for me to decorate. I got about nine of them done tonight, but I have about 40 more.

I am still working on my bowl project.

Not much else going on, but I am busy busy! We are all having car trouble, so life is crazy trying to work out rides.

I will try and check in soon when I have more time!

Good morning all!
I haven't had such a busy month in a loooong time. Every time I get on the computer it seems to be work related. I just haven't had the opportunity to just enjoy checking in.
I have Parker here now , and we're about to go to the park. I really don't want to, too cold, but I know he loves it so we will go.
Thank you, Ashley for posting all those great sounding recipes. I will try the crustless spinach pie this weekend.
I had a good week and have lost another pound, so down to 169 as of this morning. I will try to post my tracker with this, but technology is not my friend, so don't count on seeing it!
Have a great day.

Morning all,
Dreary day here BUT a good excuse to wear my new boots I bought last week. :-)

We're having a lunch meeting today at work (potluck) and I've brought Chicken Caesar Salad, wait till they taste how good sugar free can be.

As anyone tried the Jello sugar free puddings? Quite good for those moments when you want a comfort food.

Congrats on the grandbaby, Ellen.

Have 4 day weekend where I don't have to do anything but help the SPCA Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market. No work at any of my jobs. Will be able check out some of the recipes and do a little experimenting.

Have a wonderful day ladies

At work so better get at it.
Cheers

This has been one of those weeks. I am so behind on everything. :) SB eating has been going well but I've had some bad days watching my fats. I think part of that is emotional eating.

((Everybody))

Bob...no beans yet. We are having a very dry spring and I got a late start so they are not even blooming yet.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Hey Everyone,

its been a while since I posed. The emotional drama in my life was insane the past 5 days. Hopefully the majority of it ended today.

I having nothing other than food had been eh..Not awful, but I have been over doing it with legal foods. The SF ice cream and 72% choc seem to be my weakness. And I also can't go a day with out an apple dipped in peanut butter. Just a lot of fat happening in my diet.

Not much by way of offical gym either. I went Monday and I taught 2 classes today. I hope to make it the rest of the week. Thiss whole getting back in the swing of things is tough. In other news I am no longer coughing so it should be fine once I do start to get everyday.

Have a good night everyone!!!

I am so far behind with posts that I just hope everyone is doing well.
