GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

YOU HAVE ENOUGH

Everyone who has ever accomplished anything started out with what they had and worked their way toward what they wanted. What you already have is enough to get you started toward whatever you desire to achieve.

Right this moment you have what it takes to get started. There's no need to wait any longer. In fact, waiting will only make the goal that much more distant.

You can use what you have to get whatever you want. It will take time and it will take effort. It will require you to step outside your comfortable cocoon of inaction, and to take some bold steps. You have what it takes to do that, though. If you're willing, the path is waiting for you to travel. The starting point is where you are.

You have everything you need to take the first step. Don't wait any longer. Stop piling up worthless excuses. Now is your big opportunity. Now you have all you need. Take that first step, and keep on going until you've made it happen.

Greetings to all on this new day. TOM struck during the night and sadly I weighed in with 1/2 pound more. Of course I am not worried but no one ever *likes* to see the scale go up! I was feeling a little odd and didn't realize he was coming so soon...so at least I know why now!

I am having a great visit with my parents and we plan on taking the kids skating. I haven't been in my skates since before I had all the kids! This oughta be good ;) At least I am skinnier and won't look as awkward as I would have a few years ago....but less padding if I fall down!

Monet posted a good question on the last page of the old support board and I am going to quote her here for your convenience. I would really like to see the answers to these questions as well. Here it goes:

Monet said:

"How low does everyone here keep their fat intake? Does it effect weight loss a great deal, and which fats do you eat? On Schwartzbein, which is similar to SB, she recommends eating olive oil and butter, but no trans fats, or altered fats. I try not to eat added fat much, but I am struggling to keep my fat intake at about 30%. I sure would appreciate some ideas and tricks you more experienced SBers can share on this subject.

I have heard that Campbells cream soups are ok on SB. Is this true, or not?

I would surely appreciate any advice on maximizing weight loss. I have such a hard time losing , and I have my daughter's wedding in 3 months...I would like to lose something by then..

Thanks for any help...."

Back to being gracious :) I would also like to know the correlation between fat intake and weight loss. After being on Atkins 4 months and being accustomed to eating so much of it, I am wondering if the SB'ers cut back on it they lose, or if they actually notice a difference when they have been too heavy on the fat.

Someone was asking about getting enough protein without adding too much fat. For lunches I buy the good quality lunch meats, either roast beef or ham..they have a low fat, low carb because they don't have added sugar or starches and good protein. Perhaps subsituting that kind of protein would help.

Monet-Rosalie told me about Primo Lentil Soup. It is SB legal and tastes pretty good considering! Habitant also makes Pea Soup that is legal. I spent a lot of time in the soup section reading labels and very few are available without added starches. Curiously, I didn't look at the Campbells.

Oh...my measuring didn't give me any good news on Saturday either. Now that TOM struck though, I am hoping that is the reason. Oh well....keep on, keeping on plan!

My parents brought all kinds of treats with them from other family members too. My Aunt sent a box of 100 chocolate bars, a case of chips, doritos and cheezies. Bags of cookies and a few cases of bubble gum. Obviously they had the kids in mind, but I know you can all sympathize with having this kind of stuff in the house and watching others eating it. I was nearly tempted to eat a chocolate bar and have a cookie yesterday. I was in the kitchen alone and I can't believe how loud they were calling my name! I looked at the nutritional values for them and just said NO WAY! It is just not worth it. You take it, eat it and enjoy for just a minute and then the guilt strikes. You know you have blown the day and it would have been my first cheat since being on SB. I popped a Sorbee's SF Fruit Chew in my mouth and went on my merry way! Victory was mine!! hehe

I have to make this quick since the kids have not left for school yet - and the last 10 minutes before they leave is spent finding shoes, bookbags and instruments - ahhh, the joys of motherhood :dizzy:

I have mentioned before that I have not managed figuring out all the technical stuff but do read labels. Had to laugh yesterday when my DS(12) let me know there were 46grams of sugar in his Pepsi and my young son (7) then looked up his label and found 50 grams in his orange soda. Maybe there is hope for the younger generations.

TOM has struck here as well - broke down and ate 2 RS Pecan Delights - lets just say I won't do that again - spent the evening in the bathroom. :o

My DH emailed me from his ship yesterday and he has lost 12 pounds which is great since he is forced to eat whatever the ship serves. He said he's trying to pick and chose but some of the other guys are looking at him funny.

Gotta go help the kiddies - I'll check back later
have a great day everyone

The scale was my friend this morning; 125 woohoo!!!

I bought a can of cream of mushroom for a recipe I'm making this week. I didn't even look at the fat free because I assumed it would be worse as far as sugar.

Ingredients: water, mushrooms, wheat flour, veg oil, cream. Also les than 2% of various other things, including cornstarch and modified food starch. Sugar grams were 1 per serving or about 2.5 for the whole can. And if course keep in mind the can will be spread out over at least 4 servings, maybe more.

On the other topic; I tend to be able to go over on fat and still lose. A lot of what I have read indicates that fat causes absolutely no insulin reaction, so as long as you aren't eating it in combination with heavy carbs it's okay. I never did Atkins' style fat but I will admit that one of the problems I had with the Zone (which is also 30/30/40) was the tiny amounts of even healthy fats that were allowed.

Good Morning Once Again:wave:

Just got in from my jog/walk-was able to get in my 4.5 miles in 46:39, the times are getting slower as the heat comes back. Eli told me it was going to be 55 degrees this morning, NOT, it was 74 and humid-but we are getting a cold front as the day goes on, so 74 is actually our high today, and it's suppose to go to 55 later on.

The B/M party was not the usual FRED & SARA extravagant affair they usually do. They rented this huge place called BERMUDA BAR which is where Honey (yes, that's their daughters real name) wanted it. Usually they do elegant affairs, this was more laid back, but still costing a huge penny (drop in the bucket for them). The food, well, there wasn't a heck of a lot I could eat. I had 3-4 of these little tuna salad dollops in filo dough, about 15 Spanikopita appetizers (which was most of my dinner)-both I KNEW were not SB LEGAL (the phyllo part), but I was HUNGRY, a piece of cheese, a strawberry, a little bit of Caesar salad and a small piece of meat-so I didn't do too bad. So, this kids B/M is over and we look forward to another one of her kids' next year (she has 8 kids, 4 down, 4 more to go).

Anyhow, my day is going to be busy-I have to go to Michael's school today to do some volunteer work for a few hours. This week is undoubtedly going to be VERY busy for me, trying to get things done before I leave on Friday, lots of running around to do with Eli tomorrow on his day off, buying stuff to bring up with me, need to get the car serviced tomorrow as well, trying to get in my Glamour Shots appt before the certificate expires on SATURDAY (always last minute), find BOB & I a hotel to stay at (see, told you I was last minute), baking and cooking Thursday night-geez, I feel like ROSALIE & SEF when I read all I have to do!!! I'm tired all ready!!!!

Scale is at 121 today-thought it would be a bit lower, but that number is just fine and dandy with me:D

FROG, CONGRATS on doing the 5K, I bet it was a piece of cake after the WDWM! Glad you got the frog links!

BOB, okay, spill the beans, what does a turnip do for the juices of a roast?? I'll be in touch later today, with some final stuff.

KIMMY, you are doing great-CONGRATS! You'll be hitting that first goal in no time. I think you will see the more you exercise, not only will you like it more, but you'll see results on the scale probably faster and that will make you like it even more as well.

LAMAP, hope things settle down for you and you are able to make it this weekend. It would be a shame if you missed this opportunity. When will you let us all know?

MONET, for the first 1 1/2 years I kept my intake of fat to 30%, the last 6 months I took it down a tad to 27.5% (did same with protein and used the extra 5% in carbs). I use olive oil, rarely butter, but do so over margarine. Of course, fats in other foods come into play as well. SB as well as the AMA says 10% or less of your caloric intake should be saturated fat, so keep that in mind. I do NOT buy anything with hydrogentated fats in it, at least I try not to, if I do, it's usually a mistake. You said you were struggling with keeping it around 30%. Is that struggling to eat more or less fat? Can't answer the soup question, I don't buy them-but I'm sure someone else will be able to do so.

GRACIOUS, sounds like you have a fun day planned today. Hey, that's not bad, gaining a 1/2lb for TOM hitting you-it will come back down quickly. I keep a journal of what happens during TOM and midcycle and at the beginning of SB it really helped me see that there is a sort of pattern with me and knowing this helped me not get discouraged when I'd see the scale go up when I was OP 100%, I knew it was hormonal. For me, to answer your FAT QUESTION, as you lose, your fat intake goes down as well, as does your calories, protein and carbs. I've had days that my fat grams have been through the roof and other days they were in range. The types of fats I do think have a lot to do with it was well. Not sure if this answered your question though, wasn't quite positive what you were asking. 100 chocolate bars??? Those kids are going to running on the ceilings with all that sugar:eek:

POOCH, that's wonderful the kids are aware of the fact of the sugar in their sodas. Now you can tell them, for every 4 grams of sugar they are eating an equivalent of a teaspoon of sugar. That should REALLY make them think. Hmmm, maybe DH should write a diet book with recipes that include ship food-sounds like a best seller to me-12 pounds, heck, can I get on that ship?? LOL!!!

SEMMENS, CONGRATS!! The soup sounds fine that you got, enjoy whatever you are making.

Well, I'm off to make myself something to eat-most likely a piece of toast and some fruit yogurt. Have to get in the shower, get gas and get off to Michael's school.

I will check in with you all later.

Hope you have a wonderful SB WEEK!!!

Good morning everyone!

Gracious...
Good for you on your will power! It can be so hard, can't it! I have a really bad sweet tooth! Some find chips to be their weakness...me...anything made with sugar! Glad your visit is going well. How far away do your parents live?
I too was wondering about the fat thing...also being an ex-Atkins, it is hard to switch thinking.
I have never noticed a weight gain for me during TOM...but I don't loose either. Mine just ended and I am down a total of 5 pounds since I left Atkins...almost 2 weeks. My 10 are fitting great and so are some of my 8's...some of them:)

Denise...
Oh my goodness!!! RS pecan delights...my absolute favorite!!! I could eat a box in one sitting....a big box. TOM is so hard! I really had not noticed it before I started this type of dieting.

Laura...
Congrats on the scale!!! You are at my goal weight...:p Not sure what you goal is, but it is awesome to see the scale go down, isn't it!!

Have a nice day all!

I just lost a long chatty post to everyone!! This is the first time it happened to me and I don't have time to re-type it.

Suffice it to say Belle is doing fine--she took her revenge by peeing on me in bed Friday night. I know she did it on purpose because she has always used her litter box and afterwards she just turned and looked at me cool as you pleae. So I was washing bed linens at midnight!

Frog--Friday night went well and I will see him again later this week. So far so good. I forgot what you wanted to know about the double dipping--I'm on a retainer for most clients and a alaary at the church so thankfully I don't often have to keep up with billable hours.

Have a good day everyone!

Hey everyone and welcome to everyone that is new since my last post, which was about a month ago!

Anyway, I have been bumping along, trying to say on target and OP. I have been real bad lately! I have not weighed myself since Feb 4th I have not been to the GYMN since before then, and I have eaten way over the allowed sugar and CARBS! I am trying to get refocused, aint working!
I thought that I could handle not going cold turkey any more, but I am finding out that I must stay OP in full non of this "I will just have one bite of this french fry, and then I will not eat anymore today or this week." I found out the hared way, I cannot do it that way, I have to say NO to all of it!
I was feeling so sorry for myself, I hate not being able to eat the foods that I really enjoy, like potatos, and bread! I know that I can have sweet potatos, but they are not the same!

SO I was all weepy about that, cursing myself for allowing me to get so over weight, and just down right hating the whole situation. But today, I am feeling a little better about things and I know that I have to be good to get back to where I have to be! I can not afford to be this overweight the rest of my life! I must get back down to a healthy weight.

My 30th birthday is next FRIDAY, I think that is what realy has me down int he dumps and my mind just lets everything else pile up with it!

Anyway, enough of my whinning. I hope everyone has a great monday and a very "loser" week!

March 3rd (Sunday evening)
Hi, Thank you for the fine welcome.

Deb: Rose it is

Well, I am trying to stay away from those almonds that are calling to me. I feel that part of my stall of the last six
months (oh dear, has it been that long?) has been caused by my fat intake being too high. That and not exercising
like I should, probably. I stay on program but cheese and nuts have been hard for me to resist. I have and have
always had a difficult time with eating in the late afternoons. I have tried substituting “good for me” foods but this
seems to be my worst time of the day. I find I can never let my guard down. I decided to start selecting lower fat
cheese, not eating as much of it and holding the nuts way down to 1/2 ounce a day when I do have them. I am
thinking that being responsible to you on this board will strengthen my resolve.

DEB: On the pizza. I have a great recipe for SGWW pizza dough for using as a base Would this then make this
dish okay to have on occasion if the toppings are legal? We are having your famous Crustless Quiche for dinner. I
am trying it with fresh spinach this time, ( that’s just what I have here) so we will see. It looks and smells
wonderful. Thank you for this wonderful recipe.

Sef: I really liked your statement about sisterhood.
Fruitloupe: I think continuing with the SB program and the board makes you dedicated. I thank
you for your warm welcome.
March 4th (Monday morning)
The quiche was indeed wonderful!

Because I need to restrict my calories to 1200 to 1400 a day, I am attempting to keep my fat to 40- 47g per day.
My daughter is on Weight Watchers and I find that when we are together and combine our eating patterns, I tend
to lose better. I am thinking that this is because of the lower fat. That is my approach right now, at least.
Something must change for me to lose this next ten pounds and this seems like the logical next step. What do you
think?

Hope you all have a great day.

Hello All!

This weekend was crazy, so I didn't post. I had a two day event : PIT FIRING. Basically, you dig a big hole in the ground, spread wood shavings and chemicals, then place your pots. You cover the pots with wood and cow dung and light the whole thing on fire. I participated with 4 pots and they came out lovely!

I had two outings this weekend, but eating was still good. The only problem is that my friends when they make dinner plans, they do the dinner at 9PM, which is really late for me.
With my pit firing group we had a pot lock, so I made a cheescake. I had to use splenda, because the Whole Foods is out of AGAVE (it's been 3 weeks now!), and I didn't like the taste too much. There were some girls who really liked it though, so I gave them the recipe.
My scale is up a couple of pounds, but I am not worried, since I was really hungry yesterday, and ate accordingly.

Does anyone know where I could get pickled turnips? Are turnips legal to eat? I languish for pickled turnips...sauerkraut is not at all the same...

ALL - I've been having these food nightmares. You guys need to tell me if any of you have the same experience. On Friday night, I dreamt about eating a bag of M&M, and woke up feeling all guilty. Then on Saturday night, I was dreaming about having a whole tray of muffins - and I remember freaking out because of how much weight gain that would have caused me. Imagine my relief when I woke up! Phew!

PRAVDA - I know it looks like a lot of people are cheating, but also, each one of us handles it differently. Like you said. You can't have even one potatoe, because that just sky-rockets into all sorts of forbidden things! I always check labels, even with breath mints. My motto is: If I am cheating, I want to know about it! You can see it from my post I am taking this thing kind of seriously. If you stay OP for 2 weeks straight, then it becomes habitual, and then before you know it, your hand won't even carry that bad stuff into your mouth anymore! I know you'll get plenty of support and motivation here. GO FOR IT!

DEB - Looks like a frantic time the way you describe it! I am glad it is fun for you. I know you mentioned you need a job, but, when would you have time to go to work? It seems to me your schedule is always full of activities! :p Oh, you asked me a carrot question and I haven't replied you yet. Yes. Carrots do add a taste to the soup, so does every single vegetable you cook. Especially green peppers, and also cauliflower has a strong aroma. Only spices serve solely the spice role, the rest of the cooking items all double on what purpose they have during the cooking process. E.G. - flour thickens, salt helps with getting water out of the veggies, onion tenderizes meat, and you mostly use tomatoes at the end of the cooking process, because they will slow down everything! Truly! I am sure there are cooking experts on this board, who know much more about this stuff, but as far as cooking chicken soup, I would really like to use a couple of carrots for the taste (if I cook it for my DBF, he wants a whole package!!!).

POOCH - Way to go with your kids! My students usually look at me funny when I talk about sugar, but some of them are starting to notice it. I second deb's comment - 12 lbs? Wow! And their menu is...?

GRACIOUS - Good luck with all those sweets being flaunted in your face! Perhaps your family could give you moral support and not eat them with you around? And so many sweets is probably not good for the kids anyway, I am sure. I am thinking about saying something about my DBF eating hershews in my presence. I can SMELL IT! Gracious, be strong!!!:strong:

Hi everybody- made it through another BFL free day staying SB legal, even at my nephew's 1st birthday party which was a ridiculous blow-out. I expect the poor kid to be having nighmares for the next month. 60 people, 6 dogs, umpteen kids, and a 3 dimensional Winnie the Pooh birthday cake which my sister in law decapitated on his high-chair tray and gave him the head!!!! I couldn't even watch.
Luckily, he's probably not old enough to remember having Pooh's headless body removed from in front of him, and those beady little icing eyes staring as he ground his sticky fists into the ears!

Beth- The pants are in the mail! Sorry about the box I used. It's gonna look like I'm sending you 4 Tuxedo Mousse Cakes! Don't know how that carton got in my basement!

gotta go to the gym,

Hello all!

I never thought I'd say it and if any of you throw this up in my face at a later date, I will deny it firmly, but "Thank God it's Monday!". The weekend was crazy. We were up for 2 hours early Saturday morning when the power went off. A transformer blew somewhere in the vicinity of our house. I thought something on our house had blown up. Then we had to go get new glasses for DH and DS. DH nearly had a heart failure when the sales person asked if he wanted line bifocals or progressive lenses. The opthalmologist had left off this little detail; just told my husband he was changing the prescription a "little bit". A friend had a new baby so of course we had to visit them. All of this in addition to the usual weekend stuff. Whew. I'm tired.

Rose: Welcome. Glad to see more Texas folks. I live just outside of Austin in Pflugerville. You're from Arlington? DH's brother and his wife live in Grand Prairie. He's a canine cop for Grand Prairie. Stay out of trouble up there.

Are there any college basketball fans out there? It's almost tournament time and I just love it. My son's coach's brother plays for Mississippi State so if you have no allegiances, root for them.

Joe (DH) and I are contemplating joining a gym. I have to tell you that I find them extremely intimidating. For those of you that do go to a gym regularly, what did you look for before deciding on one? I've been walking 3-4 times per week, but I'd really like to start on some type of weight training.

Deb: I know exactly what you mean about the pantyhose. It's obvious that they were designed as a form of torture. Especially if you live in the South.

Gotta run now. Good thoughts and prayers to all.

So you are a potter...I should have figured that out from the Clay Girl under your name! I am a potter, or was a potter...have not been able to work much of late. I love pit firing! So much fun! I did a lot of raku in college as well. I would like a raku kiln now, but all I have is a huge behemoth of an electric kiln.

Do you work on the wheel? That is my first love, but since I found out I have lupus about 10 years ago, I have not been able to do much. The arthritic symptoms have spread to my hands and finger making it painful to work. I really enjoy teaching wheel throwing. It is very satisfying to see the joy on the person's face when they finally figure out how to center!

It was fun to find a potter....isn't clay great?

Afternoon all... :)

My littlest one is sick today, so no gymnastics :( He has a virus, pink eye, and sinus infection... poor guy. He has to stay home tomorrow too, so my boss is gonna be upset :o Oh well... better have a tight schedule, than to have my kid passing his germs through the daycare!!

Jeans are a little snug this morning, TOM is about 7 days away...sooooooo I'm guessing that's why.

Well, I've been doing ok with my calories and carbs... my fats are still too high, and I'm not getting in my fiber. I HAVE to work on it!!! I'm going grocery shopping this week, and I'm gonna check out the FIBER ONE and get some dried beans. It's only about 25 degrees here, so some pintos sound good.

DEB - I tried the almond granola recipe on the board, and mine turned a really DARK brown (think - chocolate brown) and tasted a little burned. I only cooked it as long as it said, and at the temp it said? Are things cooked with agave like that just darker? Or should I do something different?

MEL - Hmmm... can I choose the cake? I know, I know :nono: LOL!! If I choose the cake, I won't need the 14's cause I won't get my bootie in em!

Well, I hate to say, but I think I've stuck my neck out and gotten stabbed in the back. The girl who is staying here has been on the phone CONSTANTLY... and she's all buddy buddy with the "friend" who threw her out when I took her in... and she's been talking to the 'ex' every single night for hours on end. Last night we went to bed and she was STILL on the phone! I've come to find out, by her own admission, that she was never physically abused - as she led everyone to believe. And she has yet to clean a thing, (even as far as picking up after her and her daughter... I do it.) And she hasn't contributed a thing to the household as far as groceries, toilet paper... nothing. But she's getting paychecks and has NO bills... and lots of new clothes and a haircut. I think Beth went for a R-I-D-E. She's supposed to be moving this week, to a new battered women's shelter because they told her if she LIVES there, they'll pay for her deposit on an apartment. So she's going there to get their money. I think it sucks, personally. I was a battered woman for 2 years... and to take that slot from someone who NEEDS it, is pretty sorry. Anyway.. I have learned a valuable lesson, but crazy as it sounds.... I'd do the same thing tomorrow.

Sorry I rambled... but you gals are the only ears (eyes) I have to complain to and not worry :) Thanks!!

Have a wonderful day :) I have a staff meeting tonite, and the boss has a list a mile long to complain about... so keep your fingers crossed for me :)

Hello to the newcomers...not that I am that old myself!

Pris...
I am in Ohio, but the sun is out and the sky could not be any clearer. Welcome! I just came here to the board about 12 days ago. You can go the the BIO board and see my info...but what it does not say is that I love to watch Survivor...are you a fan?

Beth...
That is really a hard place to be in, letting a friend come and stay and finding out it was a big mistake! Who knows if she was or wasn't abused. You said she was talking to her ex, so she may be trying to cover for him now. Either way, she really needs some help, mentally I mean. She has a child as well! I feel for you.
Several years ago, I let my cousin come and live with us. He was a total bum. He was watching the x movies on cable and I had a $300.00 bill...not to mention the phone bill. He was a slob and a liar. He was to be there for 2 weeks and it ended up being 4 months. Thanks to God, he left without us being enemies. It is a really hard place to be. Bless you for trying to help her.

Well....2 of my kiddos are home:dizzy: :dizzy:

In Him

I hope you all don’t mind that I jump right in like I am a long time member and I hope this note doesn’t come off as
being too forward. I have been following the board for a little while and feel like you all are already long time
friends.

Trishaloo: Thank you for the welcome. I live in what is considered North Dallas ( but not far North Dallas which
is really Plano. I bet jred knows about this. ) Pravda, I just noticed, is from Arlington. It looks like we are getting a
nice bunch of Texas roses here.

Gracious: I remember you asking about salad dressings. I use a Good Seasons mix called Cheese Garlic and make
it up a reduced fat way by adding 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/2 cup water and 3 tablespoons oil. This ends of being about 1
1/8 teaspoon of the oil instead of 1 tablespoon of oil per serving. For 2 tablespoons of dressing, it is 5.3 g fat, 1.3 g
carbs, 0 protein and 1 sugar. The ingredients on the package say: salt, cheeses (Blue Cheese, Cheddar), milk
cheese cultures, salt, enzymes, sugar, garlic powder, whey spices, maltodextrin (from corn) (bad stuff, there) onion
powder, xanthan gum, parsley flakes, lactic acid, natural flavor, citric acid. Sounds like chemicals but it has a nice
tart flavor fixed this way.

hm4skl: I am glad that you are here also, we can be newbies together. North Texas is wonderful
today also although a mite cold. The sun really makes the spirit soar.
Beth 2374: It sounds like your little one got a triple hit. Bless his heart. I hope he feels better
soon.
Kimmythekid: You can count me in as a Survivor fan. There is a new reality show I happened
upon Sunday afternoon called No Boundaries on channel KDAF that looks good also. Did
anyone else see it?
Semmens: Congratulations on the friendly scales. I suppose Wednesday will be my first WIW
and I am trying to be so good so I can post some kind of loss. I was so glad to see that Deb
okayed the cream of mushroom soup since it is so great to use when I make meatloaf.
Pravada: I appreciate what you said about not being able to eat just one bite. I have been tempted
to have the one bite at times ( potatoes would be it for me, too) and after hearing your words, I
have strengthened my resolve. It sounds like you have done well with the talking you gave
yourself and are ready to continue on.
Deb: Will you be able to share a copy of the glamour shots with us? Maybe Eli was looking at
Dallas weather when he thought it would be cool. I think it is about 55 this afternoon.
Vesnoid: That was interesting information about the role of different ingredients in a dish. I was
especially interested in the fact that onions tenderize meats and tomatoes delay cooking.

Bye for now.wave:

BOY you get busy and look what happens!? All these new posters! That is awesome :) For those that don't know me I am Liz and I live in Pensacola Florida. Ihave 3 children and I am separated from my husband for 3 months now. I am STILL fine tuning my SB diet and I think I have finally nailed it. My goal is to get down to 240 and STAY THERE LOL. I have really fluctuated big time and I weighed yesterday and I was at 252. So my first goal is to get to 240 and work down from there. Walked 3 miles today and plan on keeping with my program, walking at least 3 times a week. Off to catch up and see what everyone has been up to. Toodles :):)

Hello all,
It is Monday and has been all day. It was a cold one here so I am down in the dumps. We also had a cold wet weekend so that is a hang over from them also.

LIZ......good to see you girl. How have you been? We have missed you ...hope to hear more from you in the future.

BETH.....we had a family (who are relatives) come stay with us one time for a few days till they could find a place and it turned into 6 weeks. I finally had to tell them to leave while hubby was out of town. I had had enough. Anyway we learned our lesson. We will never do that again. But I understand why you did it and you are to be commended.

Hello to all others........has anyone heard from TV???? I am dying to know how she is doing. I hope she can feel the thoughts and prayers.

Cya all later,
Debbie :)

Beth - I make the Almond Granola frequently and I find that 20 minutes cooking time is all it needs. Any longer and I find it gets overcooked, also I find it darkens more while cooling.

hello everyone,

well the last week has not been good. Before pregnancy i hardly ever got sick last monday came down with a cold, then wednesday all the girls at work told me i had pink eye so went to eye doctor that afternoon doctor called it a bacterial infection almost same thing so iam on eye drops felt pretty good yestersday(sunday) woke up at 3am stomach pains vomitting and bm problems havent eaten too much today stomach ok now as long as no food hits it. One of the doctors at work say the nine month tumor is sucking the life out of me beginng to feel like that is truth and it is only the beginning. Anyway I signed up for dwm also 4 other women i know 2 of them just started walking 1 is getting back into walking and the other is my coach who got me into walking she did full marathon this year walking only in 6hr 22min we did 1/2 in november together i did that in 3hr 22 min that was my first that was between 14 - 15 min milewe all signed up for the 3 30 area at wdw i dont want to set my goal to high especially since dont know how training will go after having baby
my friend donna and i are doing 5k walk saturday this will be our third one our first one was 57min second one was 50 min hopefully we shave more time off but i have to be carefull cant get that heartrate up but would like to get a little sweat going

normally would do 3 miles in 40 min if concentrating

SOL i think it is great you want to do 12 min mile but i wouldnt be to focused on that because if you dont achieve that it might take away from the most important hting that you did and finished it at least that is what my coach told me when idid my first one i just wanted to finish i said it would be nice to do it in 3 30 but didint focus on it ended up doing better i hopr we can all start together i plan on spending weekend at wdw in the resort probably bring dh and of course new baby

bye for now hopefully i will be feeling better this weekend for the get together

I had a great time skating..painful but fun. I think my size 8 1/2 feet didn't appreciate being poured into size 8 skates. My feet before children were smaller than now. They were also narrower! I did have lots of fun though and we are going to go again before the parents leave.

Someone asked where they are from. They are visiting me in New Brunswick from Ontario. We moved here 1.5 years ago and since they are the only grandchildren the parents *need* to visit! I love that and so do the kids.

Vesnoid-All the treats are put away and divied up on occasions only. Everyone in my family is thin...hubby could lose about 10 pounds but that is nothing! All three children are the perfect weight for their height and infact, my daughter is thin and tall...blessed lil thing!

Yellowrose-Thank you for the dressing suggestion. I found one that is not bad, but I am not thrilled with the flavour. The fat count is great but it lacks something. I continue my search!

Debelli-I was also wondering why we can't attach pictures anymore.

That is all for now!

Hey Gang! I think the boat is starting to move into calmer waters for me. I don't know if Deb told all you what's been going on, but the jist of it is that my littlest's asthma has really kicked in this year, right as I decided to come back on board. His xrays and blood tests came back normal last Wednesday and no indication of pneumonia. So the diagnosis was asthma topped with a virus that settled in his lungs. He improved quite a bit over the weekend and was even playing outdoors a little on Saturday. He's back in daycare today and seems to be doing fine. It's been a busy couple of months! As for me the jaw is doing great, I'm probably being overly optimistic, but the 2 month mark just passed and I'm still infection free! If I keep on healing and infection free, we go in for the implants in May. 2 of the girls I work with have joined with me to work towards a healthier way of eating and it's helping us all to have one another. I really am looking towards a more slender future, my goal is to get back into my bikini this summer, that's 15 lbs from here, but I know that I can make it happen. I actually started exercising last night with some help from my little ones. I abslide while my kindergartner counts to 100 (it takes her awhile) and I march/walk in place while my 8-year-old recites her spelling words. It helps them and me and as I get used to the exercise, we'll think of more activities to do.

Hope all of you have a wonderful week!

Hi Everyone!
I am freezing!!!!! Temp here today (FL) was a high of 56 (so they said) and windy as heck! Tonite feels like 30 degrees. I guess I should enjoy it because before you know it, its going to be 100! Had a pretty good day except for a real coke I drank - I have had a wicked sinus headache since I woke up and all the Sinutab and advil in the world wouldn't take it away, so I tried a Coke and it actually helped (or it was mind over matter). I'm thinking I either have a sinus infection or TOM is going to arrive tomorrow! Anyway, made a yummy pot roast for dinner - took a frozen roast this am - threw it in the slow cooker with a can of tomato sauce and pkg of beef broth mix added seasonings and mixed veggies at the end and wa la - yummy roast! DH&DS had potatoes with theirs.

FIVE DAYS UNTIL SB ORLANDO GET TOGTHER!!!!! :)

Gracious- My 6 yr old son loves to skate - I took him skating about a month ago and thought I'd get a pair of skates and try (been about 20 years since I skated and never was very good). OMG - what a joke. I had to hang on to the wall. I could not get the rhythm/motion. I thought maybe it was because I had rink skates. I was thinking I might look for a pair of skates for myself and try again - Would be great exercise!! I also tried on a pair of inline skates - couldn't even stand up on them!! I don't go crazy watching fat as of now because I am having a hard enough time staying away from sugar! Once I get the sugar thing licked, then I'll work on fat. Good luck staying away from all those treats - I would be doomed!!

Pooch: I've got it - We all need to go on a cruise to lose weight!! It must be hard having your husband away.

Semmens: Congrats on the 125!!!! That is great. I agree on the fat/insulin theory. They don't feed animals fat to fatten them up - they feed them corn and grain!!!!

Deb: Glad you were able to stay legal at the BM (that still cracks me up). I sent you an email regarding Orlando. Is the Van filled with coffee yet? Do you know where you're staying Friday night?

Pravda- I am the same way with little cheats - one thing leads to another and another..................and then I hate myself. I have to stay away completely or I am in trouble. I am a sugarholic. Seems like when we have a hard day or somehting is not just right we feel like we deserve something we like to eat and it makes us feel better. That's where I run in trouble. Instead of feeling sorry for ourselve and eating something illegal, we should go soak our feet or paint our nails or take a walk! Happy Birthday -30's not so bad!!!

BOB: Where do you find all the recipe sites!! If I can get a hold of my friends sons football stats (she has a package made to send out to colleges) I'm going to bring it with me so you can see, and I can brag!
5 days until the big day! I'm anxiously awaiting the Agave! :): I think I read Big Brother will be on in July. I'll have to settle for Survivor for now - Hope I can get into this one. Last one I lost interest in.

Vesnoid: Hope you can make it on Saturday! Pickled Turnips!!!!!!! Yuk!!! :( Girl, where are you from?)

Merilis:  regarding the birthday party - I remember my sons 1st birthday party. He wanted no part of touching that cake and cried all thru it! Hope he doesn't have "Pooh nightmares".

hm4: welcome to the board, looks like you are posting correctly!

Beth: sorry your little one has been sick - that very draining on the parents! I tried fiber one once and I could barely swallow it - it swells up to 1000 times it size when you get it in your mouth. Way to dry for me.
Sorry you had a bad experience with that girl. You have a good heart and I'm sure you received "special blessings" for taking her in.

Rose: welcome to the board!!!

Lizery- are you coming to Orlando?

Rosalie: It's the countdown for you!!

Zsu: It's amazing what that little "tumor" can do to you! But in the end, its all so worthwhile!! Keep up the good work and don't forget to get plenty of rest.

Idblond: Glad you son is getting better and that it was nothing serious. I don't know the story of your Jaw but glad things are getting better for you! :):

Hello to anyone I missed and good luck this week!

Hi everybody.

I did Sugar Busters last year for a while, lost some weight, but then fell off the wagon, went through job problems, lost my job and so on and I never got back on the wagon to continue with my weight loss. Of course, everything is back. I have been eating totally wrong, whatever was available, mainly comfort foods.

I also realized that I am not into cooking every night. Currently I am in training with my job, a high stress job that requires a lot of energy, which I have nothing left of when I get home. So, we usually eat out, or we heat up a frozen dinner. mainly going out though :( Not a good choice.

During a move at my workplace, I realized that if I'm on my feet for more than an hour, they are killing me. I've been hurting with those feet and I finally had to wake up and face the music.

Having had bad ankle structure since I was a kid, then add 300 lbs for the last 12 years on top of that, I'm paying the price now. I need to get back on wagon and I need to stick with it. I have to and I turned to this group for support.

I checked out E-Diets today because for some reason I hoped they could help me with convenience foods and low sugar or no sugar, but I was wrong. All their stuff is based on low cal/low fat, not low sugar or no sugar. Stinks.

So, I need your help of course. We are finishing up our groceries as we can't afford to just give it away or even just pack it away and on Friday start with a whole new way of eating.

So, I hope I will find the same support I had not to long ago and this time find the energy and willpower to not give up.

Thanks

Frog Lover

Hey guys!

Monday evening and I've just come in from the gym. Had to go tonight instead of this a.m. because I didn't sleep well last night.  Hope to go tomorrow morning for cardio.

Had 3 great motivational things happen to me today! My boss said, "You look like you're losing more weight!" Earlier a coworker said, "Look how skinny (An exaggeration!) you are!" and before time to go home another coworker who's figure I used to envy said, "I noticed this morning when you were walking down the hall how little you're getting. I wanna be your size!" :spin: OMG! That's a hat trick in hockey! The moral to the story is wear black on the bottom 'cause I swear it's those black pants with a little lycra!

Hope all of you are doing well this evening. Make sure you get those black pants ready for your day tomorrow! :D

Peace,

Hello Christin!

This is a great place to come and get support! I have only been doing SB for a short time after doing Atkins for a month. I am the worlds biggerst yo-yo dieter. I really think that SB can be lived forever. I have about 4 pounds to go for my goal and 9 total for my dream goal. But the real goal is seeing if I can keep it off. I have reached my goals many times, but put the weight back on most, ok, all times:mad: This WOE/L seems so right.

hi girls,

cannot believe all the posts so far and it is only monday! keep up the good work, welcome to all the new gals! you will learn a lot on this board!

congrats to kim amd kimmy in cinti! we watched the university of cincinnati beat memphis this weekend as we had skyline chili for dinner! (frozen, unfortunately) my 9 year old daughter is really into the basketball as she and coach daddy just finished up an undefeated season of youth basketball.

will keep this short as we had a really long busy day in the recovery room today, makes me glad i work part-time and am off tomorrow to recuperate.

made the pumpkin muffins, not bad, i love breakfast type breads and muffins in the morning. i found a recipe for another cheesecake on the sb site, it was very good but the recipe needs a few adjustments, will post it on thursday for all to see. with all my baking adventures with the agave i feel like betty sugarbuster crocker!

looking forward to this weekend in orlando, should warm up some, right now it is 49 degrees at 10p.m. brrrr!

take care all,

Howdy!

Welcome all the newbies! I have learned here so much, my poor friends (who have to listen my constant lectures about healthy eating habits) call me a walking SB (sometimes even BS) library. This board is a great source of support and information.

DEBBIE - I cleaned the shelves of AGAVE at whole foods today, and I ordered a whole case of it. It is 2.69 - 10% discount. I think that is reasonable. If you have already purchased it for me, I'll take it anyway, since you never know when I might run out again with no place to go..:^:

MONET - AWESOME! I am sooo glad there is another potter on the board. I just came back from the community studio, where I fire and glaze my pottery. A new Olympic kiln is on the way to my home, but there is a long saga connected to that... read: service upgrade and 1000s of dollars...oh, well. What do you mean "just" electric kiln? GIRL!!! I can assure you there is a very warm and welcoming home here for the baby I am expecting . I'll chat/post to you some more tomorrow. I am beat tonight!

Everyone else, have a great night, and or morning!!! Only 1 more days to the WIW, so BEHAVE! ( I just made chocolate almond kisses )

The ORLANDO Party - WOW! The excitement is causing the earthshakes! We better get some nice warm weather for Marie! My heat is on, and my blankets are ready - off I go.

Hey y'all. It's past my bedtime but I wanted to check in and wish everyone a good week. I spent the day in a meeting room working on a 5 year technology plan for our school district, then had a webmaster committee meeting in the same room. Several of us are on both committees so we spent 9 hours together today. It's a good thing we get along as well as we do!

Rose and other newbies: Welcome. You'll find lots of support and help here. I know where Plano is, neighbor! Was supposed to be up there for Destination Imagination on Sat. but the one tenth of an inch of ice canceled everything. I'm glad. I didn't want to drive in that mess. Thanks for the dressing idea. I'm going to try it myself. Fat intake is something I have difficulty decreasing. I haven't worried about it too much but am slowing down and want to see if tweeking those percentages will help.

Believe it or not ladies, it's gonna be 72 degrees on Friday! It was 20 this morning.

Frog: I'm so glad your coworkers are commenting about your weight loss. It does feel good when people notice. My neighbor across the street today asked me what'd I done, then he held up his hands like he was measuring a fish  but he made them closer together. I laughed and said I quit eating sugar and cut off my hair. (I'll have to post a picture of the new do)

Beth: You're an angel for helping someone who appears to be an altogether different person from the one she's presenting to the world. Hope your babyboy feels better real soon.

Well, my eyes are heavy and my shoulder hurts and that's my clue that it's time to put up the laptop. Hope everyone has a great sun shiny day tomorrow.

Just a short note before bedtime. The newlyweds are left today for their new home, the hubby is in colorado at hazmat training and Grampa is still hanging in there. This started out a as pit of a day but as it went along it got better. I hope the rest of the week goes good. With no one here but me and our dog sarah I will have the time to read and chat this week. Maybe even make it to chat tomorrow.

Vesnoid- Speaking of pottery I have about 30 pieces that my son had fired this past weekend on my living room floor. He will be going to Hunbolt State college here in california to get his bachelors degree in art. His goal to to be a teacher. He had some problems with the firing though. He took it to the local craft store and they didn't know what they were doing. Hopefully they will be salvageable (sp)..

Rose and CatsRule2 - Welcome. I have been here for a couple of months and have found it to be a very friendly and supportive board.

Got to go... I am about ready to fall asleep on the keyboard.

Have a great day tomorrow:)

Please remember, TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST Hope you can join us!!!!

I'm going to try and see if I can get in a post when I get back from jogging, if not, this evening. I know you all understand and know it's not personal-just me, leaving things til the last minute as usual!!!

Hi All

Just a quick one. My computer totally died yesterday and I'm still trying to get it back running smoothly. I'm not too savvy with the techy side. Just get me hooked up and I can sort of navigate around; but this was a major crash that I had to reload everything all by myself. My personal techy (my brother) is really busy till the end of the month (he works from his puter for a living) and only had a couple of minutes to coach me by phone last night.

I'm having problems sending/receiving mail and I lost ALL my email addresses! Talk about major pain in the backside. The good thing is that it cleared out all my unused bookmarked sites!

Otherwise, I'm doing not too bad. I have to get in more water tho. I'll try concentrating on that today.

WELCOME to all the new people on board.

EVERYONE ELSE I'm sorry I can't respond individually. I hope you all are doing well.

I've gotta get this dang puter working a little better; right now it's frustrating me and soon it might be a pile of circuit cards all over the floor!

Good Morning!

So far, the day has been disappointing. I had expected to see a loss today, but it does not show up on the scale. I did a lot of walking yesterday, and tried very hard to keep my food things very well within program- though I failed some on fats again. I usually weigh less in the late morning, so I will try in a bit and see if it gets better. At least I have not gone up at all!

I feel wretched too...the medications I have to take on an empty stomach in the AM often make me sick to my stomach...and today was a real doosy. I don't suppose if you throw up prescription medications you should try taking them again... should you?

ZANNE: I am so sorry about your computer crash! I had that happen last summer, and I too lost all my email address, and stuff. What was so bad was I had a new computer, but my husband and son had not finished transferring my files over. You must be less technologically challenged than you think if you were able to reload and get things running enough to log on here! Congrats on your successfulness! Most people would have given up!

RED1: I hope your son's pottery is salvagable. Nothing worse than losing a whole kilns worth of stuff due to someone elses mistakes! It is hard enough dealing with the uncertainty! We used to make little clay kiln gods to guard the firings! I hope your son makes it to teaching. I have a degree in art ed, and even though I have never had a formal teaching job, I have used my degree to teach all kinds of classes to kids and adults. Is Pottery his major area?

CATSRULE: Welcome. I am new here myself. I have been doing SB for about 6 weeks now, and have lost 15 pounds. I really like it, and find it easy to follow. I feel healthier than when I was following Atkins before this. I have a weird thyroid problem, and insulin resistance, so losing weight is very hard for me. I have been stalled for two weeks, but I feel sure another loss is just around the corner. I have to work on keeping my fats down, and I am sure it will start to show on the scale. The great thing about SB is you don't have to give up much, like on low carb. I hope you find great success on the program!

GRACIOUS: I have not been ice skating in 30 years. I used to love it! Growing up in Chicago, we had ice rinks all over. They would flood the ball field and the park near my house and make a huge rink to skate on. I don't think I was ever very good, but my friends and I went skating a lot. We never went sledding...my hometown is very flat! :) Maybe once I lose some weight, I will go to the indoor ice rink here and skate, just for old times sake! I hope you are enjoying your parents visit. What do they think of SB?

VESNA: Well, by just electric, I guess I am whining that I don't have a gas kiln! I would love a salt kiln, actually! Ever done any salt glazing? Very nice... I do like doing reduction firing, but I AM happy to have my Olympic... In fact, Olympic used to be right here near me. I bought my potter's wheel from them. I am ashamed to admit that since I moved into this house five years ago, I have not gotten my kiln hooked up. That is something I need to do. I have a friend who is a doll maker, and she has fired some things for me when I needed it. I do miss working. Perhaps you will be able to get me inspired enough to get the kiln hooked up and to get working again! A month or so ago, I was in Athens (UGA) visiting and met a potter who digs all his own clay. His style was interesting..he uses a lot of animal sculptures on his work. I thought I ought to get back into my pottery when he told me he sells his casserole dishes for over $200 each!

Okay, so I didn't make it out for my walk today-just too darned windy out there. Last time I went, and it was less windy mind you, it was hard to walk/jog. I really do want to go though-feel like I'm being pulled in both directions-when I don't walk I get so much more hungrier not only earlier, but more so throughout the day. Hoping maybe I can try later when I get home.

Like I said, Eli is sick, going back to the Dr. today-antibiotics didn't seem to help. You know he's REALLY sick when he doesn't want to go to Broward. Hoping my Mom will take the trip up there with me. Had hopes of getting the car serviced today-ain't going to happen, I'll be happy if I can get an oil change and the car washed before I go up to Orlando.

FILLISE, ick! Belle peed on you, on purpose??? Guess that let you know what she thought about you at that moment! Hope she doesn't hold a grudge!!!

PRAVADA, sorry to hear you are having a hard time of it lately. I know what you mean about thinking you could eat something and then it just makes you go off plan worse than you ever imagined. This is the reaon I know I have to stay OP without cheating-I know me and I know how I've been in the past-if you know you've behaved in the past on past "diets" and that once you cheat it's hard to get back on track, then you have to keep this in mind and know you aren't one of those lucky few that can cheat and jump right back OP-I, unfortunately, am not one of those people either and if I cheat, it's going to be bad for me-I know this and I realize this is ME. Staying active on the board helps stay OP more, so try to get back with us as often as you can.

ROSE, I think cheese is one of the things I ate that helped me gain weight when I was younger-cheddar cheese, I could eat a block of it with out a problem. When I got into "dieting" I was amazed with what I learned, and moreso since on SB, and with the fat content of not only cheeses, but so many other things. Like nuts too-even as recent as a few weeks ago-with pine nuts, which we use a lot in our home, I would eat a few right out the bag-geez, I had no clue just a tiny amount like an ounce had 11-14 grams of fat! At least these days when I eat cheese, it's reduced fat, and usualy 75% ff cheese, so it's not so bad. The SGWW pizza is fine, it's the toppings we always need to worry about. I do have recipes for crusts, tried one once, came out awful-could of been me, could be the recipe-one never knows with me making something! I'm sure you'll like the quiche with the fresh spinach, I've used it before and it was good-just easier and cheaper to use frozen, IMHO:) I love that you've felt comfortable enough to jump in as you have!!! If the Glamour Shots come out well, of course I'll share a pic on the board with you all-I pray they come out as well as they did 6 years ago (that's the one currently posted in my bio).

VES, cow dung??????? How the heck does cow dung help firing a pot?? Turnips are a root vegetable and not SB LEGAL, but if you really wanted some and had just a small piece, I guess it couldn't do too much damage?? I do pickle them for Eli, he likes them-but when I make them I use beet juice in the pickling, another no-no:nono: BUT, if you want the recipe, just let me know. May just be easier to find a middle eastern grocer and buy a few there. As for the food nightmares, that only happens to me when I've just started a new WOE, so I haven't had any of those in a longggg time. Didn't get the agave, going today, so won't p/u any that you requested since you were able to get some up there.

MEL, doing good girl!! Glad to hear you resisted eating Pooh!! LOL!!!

TRISH, sounds like you had a lonnggg weekend, I can see why you were happy come Monday. I too am very intimadated at the big commercial gyms and would rather join a smaller, established one-I joined a small newer one and in no time, they were out of business and I was out my money-so just be careful!!! See if you can find one where you pay on a monthly basis-I know there are some out there that do that-that way, if you don't go, or don't like it, you're only out a monthly fee instead of yearly.

HM4SKL, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!! Glad you've joined us:) Seems you have the hang of the board now. Hmmm, we'll have to come up with an easier name for you, how bout just HM? I won't be able to remember your regular screen name for the life of me, so HM is lots easier for this old broad!! If you could re-copy your BIO and get it on the BIO BOARD, that would be great! Just remember, hit POST REPLY and not new thread.

BETH, sorry to hear your little ones are sick, my big one (Eli) is sick too, just as bad as having little ones sick I think:rolleyes: Maybe your oven is running too hot?? I've made the granola quite a number of times without a problem. Did you stir it around after each 10 minutes? Did you possibly use dark agave? Just trying to see why this happened. Sorry it didn't turn out well. Sorry to hear you've gotten burned by this girl-make sure you hide things before she leaves, sure don't want to find things missing when she's gone! I'd of booted her out when I found out she lied to me-I hate liars!!

LIZERY, glad to see your post. Possibly the pic didn't come trough cause it's too big, either with the bytes or the actual dimensions.

BUSDEB, nothing from TV-if we don't hear from her soon I'll send out a APB to see what's going on.

ZSUZSU, sounds like things could be better for you-what we women don't go through to have kids! That's great you signed up for the WDWM and doing this one this weekend, you really have the get up and go to go!!! You are still coming on Saturday, aren't you??

GRACIOUS, you CAN post pics, they just have to be small enough to get on the board. You can always e-mail me the pic, I'll reduce it and e-mail it back, if you want.

LDBLOND, glad to hear no pneumonia in the little one-hope my big one (Eli) doesn't have it either! Though, the asthma and virus really are just as bad I guess. Glad to hear your jaw is doing good!!! Heard from NANCE???

HAPPY, maybe the caffeine in the coke is what helped. Don't know how you could drink that, it's so sweet, not to mention the sugar in it. I use 222's, basically Tylenol with codeine-they're great! Haven't a clue as of yet where we are staying when we arrive on Friday-BOB and I will try to make a final plan tonight. Van is going to be filled with lots of stuff, and yes, coffee is in there!!!

CATSRULE, welcome back-we'll be happy to help in any way we can-you know you can't beat the support of the board and we're all here to help each other-it's yours for the asking!

FROG, glad to hear people are noticing your never-ending weight loss! Funny, lately people have asked me if I've lost more weight and I don't know why-cause I haven't-I'm staying the same and have so since they've seen me-guess it's the hair cut maybe. Or, maybe it's the black lycra pants I have 20 pairs of and always wear!!!!!!

FRUIT, thanks for checking in!!!

JRED, hey, you Texas Roses are growing in number-you all should try to have a get together!!!!

RED1, hope you enjoy your quiet time and get some things done with no one around :)

ZANNE, I'm sure I'll be crying the computer blues soon too-mine is ready to die a terrible death and you haven't a clue of what info I will lose!!!

MONET, I thought I too would see a loss-but at least I didn't gain-I know one will come if I'm patient, as will for you too. Don't stress over it-sure as heck doesn't help;)

Okay, I'm finally caught up-gotta run, in the shower, that is.

REMINDER TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I wish you all luck on the metal monster tomorrow.

Toodles

Looks like quite a friendly board over here - been on another site (just observing) and decided not to jump in over there. Saw this site mentioned (was that you Deb?), and thought friendly sounded just my speed ;)

Ok, my name is Catherine, have a husband Adron (yes, I put this in the bio board), and two darling little girls who are 4 and almost 7. I got married in November, and when I went to the doctor in January I weighed in at 275. That was more than I could handle, so DH and I agreed to try this at least through Easter (hey- had to start somewhere!). As of this morning, he is down 5 lbs since last week, and I'm not quite sure where I am. I know I have lost 4 lbs a week, and think he has too. Tonight I am planning to go to aqua aerobics at my gym, and I will get to weigh in! Can't believe I am excited about that......

Looks like I may make it to the chat - just a few minutes late. The class won't be over until 15 minutes before the chat starts, then I have to go to the bowling alley long enough to drop off some Girl Scout cookies.

Have a great day!!!

Good Morning everyone :) I'm home today with the littlest guy... and he's feeling well enough to be playing his Nintendo this mornin. (I'm making an exception to the 1-hour a day rule, because he's B-O-R-E-D being home sick with nobody to play with.)

I made more granola last night, only cooked it 20 minutes and it came out perfect! Stirred it at 10 minutes. I wonder, though, DEB - can you figure up the nutritional info for me on that exact recipe WITHOUT the almonds. I didn't use any, don't care for them in my granola. I'd just like to know the 'facts' and I'm not that talented yet... you're the pro there ;)

I feel bloated today, and my rings are tighter, so I'm glad there's no scale here, because TOM is on the way and I'm showing it!!

I am having such a hard time with FAT!!! Today I have started off pretty well... I had oatmeal for breakfast - (1/2 c oats, 1 TBS butter, 2tsp agave) and if it hadn't been for the butter, I'd have had a nice LOW fat content..LOL! I did notice that gave me 9g of fiber! Maybe since I'm trying to break down my eating... instead of a fruit or something later in the day... I can do oatmeal again (NO BUTTER) and that alone would give me 18g of fiber in addition to whatever I find to eat for the rest of the day. I'm cooking the oats at 50% power for 5 minutes... they come out with texture to them still, and I have to chew... so I'm guessing that's al dente enough!

I'm trying not to eat much fat during the day today, so I can save my fat allowance for my evening meal. I'm going to have to buy some egg substitute, because they are my favorite breakfast... but HELLO!? they'll pork me up in no time with the fat!!

OK.. I'm off to do laundry and I have to make a grocery store run later... Got a case of Agave yesterday, and have to go pick up the second one I ordered from the other store. Need milk too..LOL! I'm gonna check on the FIBER ONE.

I shop at Kroger (that was even my first job, as a bagger) and I noticed they have a nice BIG health foods section. Is that puffed Kashi good? I think it said it had lots of fiber... I read a lot of labels that day, so I wouldn't be surprised if I had it confused.

OMG - I Almost Forgot!!! Last night we had a staff meeting, and they had an ICE CREAM cake for all the March birthday people. Well I was counting on my boss to stand by me... and SHE ATE SOME! :( She said she was PMSing this weekend too and ate PIZZA. She's upset because she has only lost about 5 pounds since starting it (the day after I did) and she is frustrated I guess. I think she's planning to stop doing it pretty soon, she said she was tired of no results. BUT I DIDN"T TOUCH THE CAKE!!! I even took a piece home to the DH and DK's and I had to hold the plate all the way home and never even licked my fingers!! GO ME!!! They tried to talk me into some at the meeting, but I said I'd rather be skinny for my birthday (ok, so I won't be SKINNY, but you know what I mean) than to eat ice cream for my birthday!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!!!

Good Morning

Just checking in to say Hi to everyone. Had a busy day yesterday doing some last minute chores, as well as playing badminton in the afternoon and then again in the evening. I'm now in the middle of working on my income tax. That's a real headache but would like to get it done before my holiday. Or at least figure out how much I owe - would be nice to get a rebate for a change though. To-day I have laundry and packing to do. Supposed to be going to badminton again this evening - will have to see how much energy I have. I don't really want to miss too much of it as we have a tournament at the end of March, just a week after I get back from my holiday.

Beth - Sorry to hear of the problems you are having with the girl you have staying with you. I can empathise with you as my daughter went throught a similar thing about a year ago. She had someone staying with her with a baby who lied and stole and complained of abuse that didn't happen and caused lots of headaches for my daughter. It's too bad when you try to help someone and get treated that way. Anyway I'm sure she would do the same thing again if the need arose, as you say you would. I commend you for that. I hope the little guy is feeling a bit better to-day.

Frog - Glad to hear people are noticing your 'skinny' looks. It makes you feel good even if you don't think you are skinny. At least you know people are noticing a difference in how you look.

Monet - I don't think it is a good idea to take the meds again if you throw up. It's hard to say how much of it had been absorbed. But I would recommend that you speak to your doctor. If this is a continuing problem perhaps he can prescribe you something else.

Deb - Sorry to hear Eli is sick again.

Sorry I can't respond to you all but I have to get back to the laundry and the packing.

See all you FL. gals on Saturday.

Marie.

Good Morning Everyone!

Apparently I have been forgiven. Miss Belle is snuggled contentedly in my lap purring away. Uh-oh spoke too soon. Now she wants to play with me fingers as I type!

I had a sinful breakfast this morning. Natural peanut butter on my SFWW bread--then I drizzled a little agave over it--YUM!

Pravda--welcome back. WE've all been there and we will be here for you. It really is all or nothing. There is no halfway commitment to this WOE. So climb on the wagon and we'll ride with you!

Yellow Rose--You've done really well--keep it up and you will continue to see good results.

Vesnoid--Yes to the food nightmares! I know exactly what you are talking about. I usually have them when I'm most OP--I'm eating something sweet and feeling really lousy about it. What a realief to wake up!

Trish--College Basketball--YES! I'm from NC originally and we take our basketball very serisouly there. I will be watching the ACC tournament this weekend--and next week-MARCH MADNESS begins! Most of the other gals here are football fanatics (won't mention any names BOB, Gator, and Missy).

Beth--Wow, it is so disheartening to take someone in you thought was in trouble and then feel like your are being used. WE jast make the best decisions we can at the time--I hope you can resolve the situation soon.

Liz--Welcome back!!!!!! Let me tell you about that 240 plateau--I've been there for months! Your body will actually stop and rearrange itself when it needs to--that may be the 240 mark or may not. In my case I've lost 20% of my starting body weight and this is where I was for years before I began the last weight gain spurt. So my body has found a place it used to call home and now I have to rmind it that it also used to call 140 home!

Cats rule--welcome! Please feel free to ask any questions, someone will be happy to pitch in and answer them.

Slaphappy--I cannot wait for it to hit 100! The hotter the better I say. I am for sure tired of this cold air!

Deb--I hope Eli feels better soon. I think I'm going to make your hummus for lunch. Uh-oh I have a fundraiser to attend and I've heard about the effects of your hummus. Maybe tomorrow.:o

OK everyone going to the gathering this weekend--let me remind you WE WANT PICTURES!!! Get those digital cameras out of their boxes.

Frog--where did you get those black slacks???????

:D

You go girl!

Susan

ps--does anyone know how to chnage an avitar? I want to use a custom one, but when I go to the edit profile page, I don't see anything about using a custom avitar? Frig, I know yours is not one of the pre-selected ones--how di you do it?

My AOL homepage had a thing on Fad Diets today. I went to look at it and see listed the Grapefruit Diet, Atkins, some others AND SugarBusters. This is what it said:

Sugar Busters!

Type: Low carbohydrate, moderately high in fat and protein

Description:Many forbidden fruits and grain products. High fat meats and dairy products allowed.

Drawbacks:Many forbidden fruits and grain products. High fat meats and dairy products allowed.

Obviously the writer had no idea what she was talking about. SB is clearly a moderate carb diet and it encourages lower fat eating. I was always under the impression that 30% Fat for the diet is the recommended amount even by Government Health Agencies. I don't like it when we are misrepresented!

I am up another 1/2 pound, so 1 pound in all, but of course it is due to TOM since I am on Day 2.

Monet-My father is wavering. He is considering watching his calories and eating those prepackaged diet dinners from the grocery store. I am trying my best. He does believe the insulin response business so he is going to try to remain faithful about the carbs and sugar and white processed foods...we shall see.

Bonus!! My mother told me this morning that I if I lose any more weight I will be too skinny. This made me happy of course but it is not true. I do have 11 pounds to go still...but it made my day! My mother is thin but she is a junk food addict. She would eat candy and goodies over real food any day. She is trying to cut back and knows it is bad for her. I am encouraging more healthy eating habits with her just for her health.

Debelli-I meant attaching an image at the bottom of my post like I was able to before. It seems the option is no longer available to me. Someone else mentioned it yesterday as well, so it is just not me.

Gotta get back to the folks. WELCOME to the newcomers, this is a great board.

Hi everyone

Thought I would take a break and catch up with everyone. Today is a big cleaning day for me - just got done with the kitchen and boy is it sparkling.

My daughter just got called for job interview at Dairy Queen. Anyone ever wish their kid doesn't get hired? My mom manages a DQ in Michigan and she said this year they are coming out with a few sugar-free products - I hope this one has them.

gracious - I know what you mean about getting mad when someone slams SB. I find myself going to battle all the time with people. Did you write them and clafify things for them?

Beth - I am so proud of you for skipping the cake - I was at a meeting last week and did the same thing. Everyone thought I was out of my mind. Another girl with me wants to start SB but gave me that "I haven't started so it doesn't matter" look. I got more satisfaction from not having any than from any delight I would have had eating it. Way to go!!

Debelli - hope Eli gets better soon. Can't wait to see the Glamour Shots. I've wanted to go there for years but never liked how I looked enough to want a photo - now it is something to look forward to (not hiding from a camera) I still haven't added my bio (I will, b-day is March 15)

I shared what you guys wrote in an email to DH about losing weight on his ship. He said it's a lot harder than you think but since they haven't built any McDonalds in the middle of the ocean cutting back on fast food was a breeze. Normally the offer 2 meal choices and he picks what's legal from both. Bread is a hard one since they make it on the ship and they only make white. They always have a sald bar too so that helps but the longer they are at sea the less fresh produce they have and he said things are looking pretty brown. He has also stayed out of the ships store (candy and chips). He's doing WIW with me so I'll keep you posted on his numbers when I get them. As for a cruise - I think we should all take one and get a group rate - of course I want to wait till I can wear a bathing suit in public

To all the new members - welcome. I have only been around a few weeks too and just love all the tips and support.

I'll check back later

Debelli---You are the one that keeps track of every gram of things just like I do so I thought it would be best to ask you. I tried to contact Lindt but I didn't have good results and their website didn't give me the information I was looking for.

I am getting some Lindt 70% cocoa Dark Excellence bars today and 85% cocoa. Do you have any idea the carb/prot/fat counts on these products? It is not listed on the packages and as I said I couldn't find it elsewhere. Your help would be very much appreciated!! Thanks.

Ellen

Gracious: I put all the info on the 70% chocolate bars into my DietPower, so here is that info for you:

One serving is 4 squares-
Calories:220
Fat: 17 grams 10 saturated
Carbs: 13
Protein: 3
Sugar: 11g
Sodium: 20 mg

Don't know about the cocoa....

gracious
03-05-2002, 01:58 PM
When you say 4 squares...how many grams is that? I have 3 options in sizes of the bars and 4 squares in each would be a different weight. Sorry to bug you, but thank you for helping me!

BTW, the 85% cocoa was referring to another bar that is made of 85% cocoa, not just cocoa. Sorry for not being clear.

Ellen

Lucky, you, Gracious! I still have the wrapper in the wastepaper basket here by the computer! (yes, I nibble on chocolate when online...if I gave up computer time I would probably lose lots of weight! ) Four squares is 40g.

I'm not sure if were still doing Tuesday Tips.....

2 things that can help with weight loss, are green tea (helps to raise metabolism) and raspberries (on the news this morning) when eaten on a regular basis can help in fat loss. I was going over my notes from last year and noted that I drank a cup of green tea every day (regular or decaf doesn't matter) when I was losing the most weight. I need to start doing this again.

Have a good afternoon!

Last night my DH and I went out to dinner with some friends. They wanted to go to a Thai restaurant which
turned out to be vegetarian. At first I thought I was in big trouble when I looked at the first page of themenu but I
did find that they used brown rice and Ieven found a salmon in ginger sauce and some broccoli. I think they also
used msg because my weight is up 1/2 pound this morning. It’s not looking good for my first WIW.

Deb: I heard on TV yesterday a story about raspberries helping to lose weight. I did not get the whole story but it
looked interesting. I thought of you when I saw it because you have mentioned loving raspberies and how good
they are for you. Did you hear anything about it?
I will post the recipe for the SWWW pizza dough on the recipe board. I use a bread machine on the dough setting
and it comes out light and it is easy to make.
I have tried to find the Cabot 75% reduced fat at my local Whole Foods but all I can find is the 50%. Today, I went
to a grocery store that just opened (Central Market) and they had the 75%FF...I am so anxious to try it. I also
bought some carb covered almonds that they said contained no sugar. After eating “several” I’m thinking that
wasn’t such a smart move. On the quiche, I normally would use the frozen spinach but I didn’t have it but had lots
of spinach from Sam’s.

Fillise: Your comment about the sinful breakfast sounded good. It reminded me that I sometimes put 1 tablespoon
of peanut butter in my oatmeal. I know, this sounds strange but my husband tried it and he too thought it was good
also.

Speaking of peanut butter, has anyone heard of a new one called WOW. (I hope it doesn’t have bad stuff like
WOW potato chips.) It is suppose to be low fat and low sugar. My daughter said that she had heard about it from
her vegetarian magazine. I have not been able to find it here.

jRed: Have you been able to find agave around Dallas. Whole Foods here says they can only get the dark.

Beth: Good for you for resisting the cake especially since your support person wasn’t able to stand by you.

Pooch: Sign me up for a SB cruise. What fun that would be and we could even leave from Galveston, TX. HA!

Monet: Sounds like you enjoy your DietPower program as much as I do. I bought it when it was version 1 and I
haven’t changed it out because they told me all my saved personal recipes would not transfer to the updated
version. Sometimes I have trouble with a little glitch when I try to go way back to see what I ate for that day but
otherwise I am very happy.
Hope everyone has a great evening.

Evening All:wave:

Home, pooped and cold! Lets see...Eli ended up going with me up to Broward today after all, even though he felt like poop. We got ready, dropped my car off at the mechanic and then I dropped him off at the Dr.'s office and I schmized (ran) around while I waited for him to call. He has bronchitis-lovely! New prescriptions and inhalers for the big boy-hope he gets better soon. Anyhow, went to WHOLE FOODS to return something, Ole Ole where the salad was DELICIOUS, HFS to pick up some goodies, like ZANNE'S agave, and to Carbolite where today's flavor that I liked was Butter Pecan, so had that and vanilla. Got home, care wasn't done. Don't want to see the bill-heck, don't want to pay the bill either! Have to get it tomorrow morning.

Called the Glamour Shots place, they don't have a time for me tomorrow, guy said he'd extend the exp. date if I brought him a SB coupon (he asked for lunch, jokingly, so I offered him a coupon). So that's good-will have car cleaned and washed tomorrow as well.

Of course, I didn't get in a walk, already dark and still very windy. Hoping tomorrow morning will be better!! I'll just use today as my day off instead of tomorrow.

Okay, now I know why you all were asking me about not being able to post pictures! I didn't see this ANNOUNCEMENT from SUZANNE, so here is the first part:

Attachments and Avatar uploads temporarily disabled
We've been alerted to a security issue with the version of PHP that powers our forum. We were told this:

quote:
Until your host has patched your version of PHP, we would seriously recommend that you disabled all file uploads in vBulletin, including avatars, attachments, and limit who has access to the file upload facilities in the control panel.

Therefore, until we either receive a patch or receive the next version of PHP which is safe, we have disabled attachments and also avatar uploads. If you would like to use a custom avatar, please email it to me at suzanne@3fatchicks.com and include your username and I will load it from this end. Make sure that the avatar fits the required dimensions of no more than 70x70 pixels and no more than 8k in size.

THEN, there was this update:

I just received a message from tech that our PHP has been upgraded, so it is safe to allow attachments again.

However, we are going to make a few changes. We are trying to reduce our operating costs and have recently decided to ask that all attachments be limited to photos (such as success photos or family photos, etc) or images that are related to a post. Image type will be restricted to jpg or jpeg images since that is most used for photos, not gif, and maximum size will be reduced from 40k to 25k.

Even with regular pruning, the forum database is about 400mb (it used to be almost a gig!). About 120mb is for the search index (over 6 million entries) About 120mb is for the text contained in the actual posts, and almost 100mb is just attachments. The remaining amount is used for the rest of the forum.

While storage space is not an issue, we have to consider the amount of bandwidth used by the images. We use gzip compression to reduce the bandwidth from text so this has little impact on the stats. However, this doesn't work on attachments.

This change may only be temporary. We will watch the stats closely and if this change does not have a noticable impact on bandwidth, we will revert back to full attachment ability.

If you wish to show images in your post, you may want to consider external linking. You can use image tags to link to an image that is on another server, such as a personal website. This would not use our bandwidth.

One more thing... Our stats show that some of you are hot-linking to our images from other sites. Some of the attachments and avatars that are housed on our server are showing up on other forums or personal websites. This also uses our bandwidth and we would appreciate it if you removed those links.

Sooo, not understanding all of this, I'm passing this info along and if you want to throw in an explanation, or two, esp. on the last paragraph, please do so:)

TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST If anyone has trouble getting in the chat room, try going through Internet Explorer as I am having to do, for some reason I can't get in there through my AOL Browser:shrug:

ADRON, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! Glad you are joining us-and you are right, we ARE a friendly bunch!:D Not biased at all, am I? Sounds like the two of you are doing well so far-and it's always easier when you have someone following the same WOE that you are. Thanks for sharing our pictures with us on the PHOTO ALBUM BOARD I love putting a name with a face! BOB will be happy to see another TENNESSEE person on the board-esp. if you love football!!! Hey, you aren't far from NC-we're having a SB GET TOGETHER in NC in OCT., you should try to make plans to attend!!! I think we are taking a day trip over to ATHENS, TN to visit the Mayfield Dairy Farm in 4 weeks-can you make sure you order us up some good Tennessee weather???

BETH, glad to hear the second batch of granola came out well. Did you use 1 1/2 or 2 cups oats? How I figure out the caloric info is I have a food scale and weigh the oats, bran and almonds, then of course, I have the measuring of the oil and agave. Mix it all together, and after it's cooled down, you weigh the entire mixture and then you just divide the ounces you have by the total of calories, fats, carbs, etc. I usually have a 2 ounce serving. Thought I had the info written down somewhere handy, but I don't. If you want to e-mail me the info for the oats and bran, I can figure out the rest. Lucky you that you don't like the almonds, that's where the fat is!! Can you try eating the oatmeal without butter? If you need butter flavoring, why not try to find some extract, or some spray butter that will give it just a touch-a TBL is a lot. When I want butter on my toast I never put it on with a knife, instead I take the hot toast and the stick and rub it on there lightly. I get the taste of butter with only about 20 calories and 2 grams of fat. Remember, oats are a starchy carb. How about adding some bran to your cereal. Remember berries!!!! Egg substitute doesn't have fat, at least EGGBEATERS doesn't. Congrats on resisting the cake-doesn't it feel great that you have control and food doesn't control you-trust me, it gets easier and easier when you stay focused. And for those who try to push it on you-they're either jealous, don't care, just plain stupid, or don't want you to succeed-so remember, just look out for #1-and that's YOU!!

ROSALIE, what time are you hitting the road???? Have a safe trip and please be careful for the US NUTS on our roadways!!!! Here's an angel  to guide you on your way!!!!

FILLISE, sinful breakfast, sounds delicious. I sometimes take a piece of toast and put a thin layer of PB on it, spreads nicely when it's hot bread. I've always wondered, when I buy natural pb, I pour off the oil that rises to the top-wonder how many calories that saves-can't find any info-any personal thoughts?? I think you are a wise woman to wait on eating that hummus;) See above ANNOUNCEMET regarding the avatars.

GRACIOUS, thanks for letting us know about the AOL thing, didn't see it, but not surprised. This happens all the time, in magazines, on TV. Seems writers and reporters don't do any of their own homework and just report/write things they've read that are old and untrue-bad for those thinking about going on this WOE, yet those of us who are know the truth. I've written letters to editors before-do you think they ever print the truth and say they are sorry-nay, nay! See my post above about the pics. Hey, I wish I had your Mom's metabolism, then I wouldn't have this weight problem because I was just like her, I'd eat candy, ice cream, etc. over any healthy food any day! Did MONET answer all your questions. Remember, no more than a 1/2 ounce 3x a week if you MUST have some chocolate!!!

POOCH, care to come clean my kitchen-promise room and board and SB legal meals (from Eli of course!). Good luck to DD and DQ! I could NEVER work there-I'd eat all the profits!! LOL!! How often do you get to hear from DH???

LDBLOND, they had the same story about raspberries on the news but I couldn't stay up to watch it-what did they say about them. I eat them all the time when they are in season!! Dying to know!!!!

ROSE, see my post to LDBLOND, I too want to know about the raspberries-I know they are wonderful in fiber, but more benefits, I need to know!!! I buy the Cabot 75% at BJ'S wholesale club, they have it by the pound-stores are expensive. I love it though! The no sugar carob coated almonds are delicious, but FATTENING, so be careful! Don't worry about WIW tomorrow, if you are up, you know it's from the msg, or something like that. I have to check my cabinet, I think I may have some of that WOW pb, but not sure.

Okay gals, I'm outta here until chat. Once again, Iwish you all luck tomorrow for WIW!!

Toodles!

OK... I grocery shopped today and picked up case #2 of agave. I now have 2 cases plus 3 full bottles, and the bottle I'm working on now. They aren't having any trouble getting Sweet Cactus Farms agave at either HFS, so I'm gonna wait a week, and ask for more..hehehehe.

DEB - I used 2 cups of oats, and 1/2 oat bran, and I just used the generic Kroger brand of both. I'll email you the values of each later. I just noticed that my margarine is the fat of my breakfast, and I'm going to cut it out tomorrow.... hey guess what. I bought some FIBER ONE, and had it for dinner (didn't feel like eating pot roast, settled for cereal) It was pretty good! I noticed that it has 14g fiber per serving, and that it has 0 sugars, but 10g of "other carbohydrate" what is that "other?"

Here is what my food for today looks like so far:
Total: 1295 (I gotta find 500 more calories tonite!)
Fat: 45g 32% (my target is 60, first time under in forever!!!)
Carbs: 183g 44% (thought this was HIGH until I remembered to
Fiber: 43g subtract the FIBER, so I'm right on)
Protein: 74g 24% (could be more, but hey...lol)

I also bought some raspberries, and some beans with no sugars and 7g of fiber a serving. I like beans... sometimes they don't like me though :o

I AM proud that I was able to resist the cake, even though my partner in diet gave in and tried to get me to as well (gee, I wonder why she isn't succeeding!!) It feels GREAT to know that I can control what I put in my mouth!!

I hope everyone is doing well tonight. DH has a Captain's meeting tonite at the Fire Department, so I MIGHT make the chat. No promises. Depends on whether or not I get my nose out of my book in time! I've been reading a lot lately... it keeps me from snacking. I've been a bookworm all my life, but somehow my reading 'for me' time got pushed aside for everyone else. I took it back!

See all of you later :)

Thanks for the warm welcome, Deb! I am really glad to find y'all :D Yes, I am a football freak , but as for BOB, I happen to be a serious Vol hater :o Ah well - a little friendly rivalry always makes for an excellent football season!

I am 4 weeks into SB, and I am craving sweets like mad!!! I have about 10 cases of Girl Scout cookies in my living room, and I am dying to eat a whole box. I mean, I do have several extra cases to sell! This is the worst that the sweet craving has been (I did crave chocolate right around my TOM). I just ate two squares of legal chocolate, but I really, really want a box of Thin Mints AND a box of Samoas. Arrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!

How do you do it? I'm being good, but it's making me crazy right now. I also decided against going to the gym tonight as I was very late getting off work. I am planning to go Thursday and Saturday though.

I'm off to go get rid of some of these cookies - I'll be back for chat, I hope!

HiedieHo All!!

Just a quick post, can't believe the pages that have elapsed since my last post! I have been so busy.

Seems like I was on the road all day yesterday! Did NH, then gym, then decided to check out the new Fresh Foods store, I was disappointed. I thought some things were higher. Altho their Smuckers Simply Fruit was about .40 less. Then to Albertson's where they had shark and Mahi Mahi on sale.

When I fixed supper I could kick myself. Had the shark in the broiler, got a hurry up call to the bathroom and the shark was overcooked, like leather. 12 bucks ruined!!! I am going to try to salvage it (it wasn't burned, just overcooked) and make a fish stew thingy. I cut it up and it is marinating in the tomatoes which ought to put some moisture back in it. Moral: As you're rushing to the BR turn off the broiler!!!!

All this talk about chocolate!! I found Lindt's Chocolate Bars in Albertson's but were not SF! I was disappointed, was lookihg forward to a bite of chocolate when I saw the display. Oh Well, will keep looking!!

Yes, Deb. I feel I was overdoing the Splenda. Used it in coffee, tea, on cereal etc. Hope it will help to end weight stall, we'll see. Did you say you use Stevia?

VES - Pickled turnips!?! Never heard of such a thing. I love turnips, hot or cold. I love pickles. Deb said she makes them with beet juice, that's the way I pickled eggs before SB! Is pickled turnips sweet, sour, dill?

Will try to make it to chat, gd needs puter for history.

Tomorrow will be busy too. Choir librarian work, gym, Habitat Volunteer meeting. I am presenting the newsletter I wrote up to see what the others think!

Take care all.

Oh by the way, I have a terrible time with avatars. I have picked ones out of sites that Deb has said she uses and always the board says I can't use them. This has been going on before the notice Deb just posted about problems.

Just wanted to send out a quick greeting out before I go and get on the CHAT. Are YOU going to get on tonight??? Come on. It will be fun!!!

I've been away from the board and now I'm so behind with the reading. Hope you all are doing well. I started full-time on FitDay yesterday. And I've even got DH wanting to do it. Yippee!! Of course, I'll probably be the one who has to type all his items in for him. Oh well, if it means he's going to jump on the wagon with me, then so be it!!!

Gotta run, friends! See you AT THE CHAT!!!!

I've never been to Whole Foods (can you believe it?) and am glad to know that they can only get dark. I was headed that way. I had our little HFS oder a box for me back in the fall. I only bought three of their bottles then so was praying that the other three would still be there a couple of weeks ago when I finally had a chance to stop back and they were. They seemed to think they could reorder it, and I played dumb. It was Cukamonga brand. I bake very little, so this should last a while. I probably don't need to start baking legal sweets. I'm doing well resisting sweets at school but if I have legal ones, I'd most likely overdo.

Later everybody. I gotta ride my bike.

Good evening all:)

I tried to make it to chat but I was to late. How long do you chat for? I did go in and that was a new experience.

Thank you for all your prayer for my grandfather. He past away early this morning 3/5/02.

Well today is day two of hubby being gone. I am not one for being alone. I am very used to having people around.

Pooch- You and the other military wives whos husbands are away at sea I admire you. I know you get used to it some what but I am a big whimp. You have your children to keep you busy though. I have heard of stories from the pilots that I work with that living on the ship for 6 months is a great weight loss program. I am not sure if they tried to lose weight or they didn't care for the food. What does your husband do?

ldblond- Thanks for the tips. I will have to start drinking some tea. I like green tea. Also I will have to use rasberries in my morning smoothie instead of strawberries. I hope it works for me too:D

Beth2374 - Your hubby in the fire department? My hubby works for a chemical plant and is the fire chief there. How long has your husband been at the fire dept?

Deb - Hope you hubby feels better soon. I have been reading about all your exercise. I wish that I could do half of what you do. I can find more excuses to not exercise. After working all day getting out and walking or running is unfortunately last on my list. I told my daughter that next week I would try to go walking with her. As is stays light longer it will help. And as is gets warmer. Even though this is the desert it gets very cold. In the 30's at night and maybe 65 in the days.
Keep up the good work.

AdronsGirl - Welcome :) Don't give in to the Girl Scout Cookies. My Hubby order ours this year. I have been able to stay out so far. My son and daughter took care of the thin mints. Good for me.

Got to run.. Sorry I didn't get to make it to chat. Maybe next week.

Hi Everyone

I thought I would have had time earlier to browse and post but my computer was giving me problems and my son was on it fixing it for me. I did get out this evening to play a couple of games of badminton. Figured I'd better get as much exercise as I can as I'll be sitting in the car for hours for the next few days. Probably be as stiff as a board by the time I get to Orlando.

Deb - We plan on leaving here about 2.00 p.m., earlier if possible. The kids are in school in the morning but as soon as they get home and have some lunch we will be off. Have you booked the hotel yet? I will be ready for you at 9.00 a.m. on Saturday unless I hear of any changes to the plans. I'll check in the hotel for any messages from you when we arrive.

Red1 - My condolences on the passing of your grandfather. I hope the end was peaceful for him.

Well I'd better get ready to hit the sack. Will be out early to a hairdresser's appointment.

A big welcome to all the newbies and I hope everyone has a good WIW.

Bye for now.

Marie.

Good Wednesday Morning:wave:

Quickie before I go on my run-haven't checked the weather-hope I get out there!!!

Thanks to those of you who joined me in the chat room last night-always fun to talk to you "real time."

I forgot to mention a CONGRATULATIONS to us all! Last weeks board had more posts on it than any board ever before-we are one hot place!!!!:D

I am upset about the gifs we cannot post anymore-hoping I can find a way to convert my little pictures I use in the WELCOME post and the MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY among others into JPG pictures that will fit. I just don't feel the posts will be the same without them.

Well, it's WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!! I hope the metal monster is good to us all. I haven't weighed yet, so will post my stats later:)

BETH, you are getting like me with stock-piling the agave:D I have 6 cases+, should last about 2 years for me, esp since I cut back baking the last few weeks. E-mail me the info on the bran and oats and I'll do the math for you (not my best subject). I like the Fiber One too-think about sprinkling some on yogurt or cottage cheese-you can even make a pie crust from it (helps you get rid of whatever topping you put on it quicker! LOL!). Not all the carbs are fiber in it, the "other" is just what's not fiberous, not that there's anything added. You are doing great on your intake, remember, it doesn't have to be exact, just a guideline and making you aware of what you are eating.

ADRON, there are a few on this board, at least one I know of for sure that actually sold GS cookies and didn't touch a one-so it can be done. I think when you start a new WOE that you still have old ways of thinking and it takes time to conform. It's like a smoker quitting, he doesn't smoke, but thinks about doing so all the time and in time, the desire leaves. BUT, what I would like to say, on a personal level is I don't believe anyone should be eating chocolate of any kind at the beginning of sugar busters and this may be a reason you are having a harder time. SB did a big disservice of not being more clear on this subject-whereas Montignac says no chocolate until maintenance. I didn't have my first piece until almost 1 year OP-actually, Friday will be 1 year ago that I had my first piece-yes, I remember the day-it was a BIG DEAL! Anyhow, think of it like this, as a smoker, taking a puff here and there after quitting cold turkey-the desire doesn't leave your system. The idea is to get the sugar out and until you give up the chocolate and let your body totally detox and get rid of the desire for sweets you are going to crave sugar, in whatever amount. When you don't have it, you get rid of the desire of wanting it-believe me, I speak from experience as I was a true chocoholic-I'd eat candy for dinner!!! Just my 2 cents :)

SEF, I read your post about the fish-I did the same thing with chicken the other night! LOL!! I put it in the jet stream and totally forgot about it and over cooked it-I too am going to salvage it, figured the mayo would be okay as I use it for chicken salad sandwiches anyhow. Lindt doesn't make a SF chocolate-they do have the 70% though which is legal. Yes, I use Stevia and love it. Hope cutting back on the Splenda helps, keep me updated!!

QUILTER, glad to see you in chat-promise to e-mail you soon, def. before I leave!!!

BOB, hey, I was in hotel **** too, so it's your turn. I hate making reservations in a place I don't know about-I'm always worried it will be bad, or a dive, dirty, etc. and I would feel so bad if it was-so I gave YOU the job instead;) I'll call you when I get back from my jog-hope it's good weather out there!

JRED, did I understand that you said the HFS can only get dark agave??? That's Cucamonga then, SCF hasn't done a dark in years, would be very old stock if so.

RED1, sorry to hear about your GF, my condolences to you and your family. We chat for about 45 minutes or so. It's a lot of fun in there-hopefully you can join us next week. Try to do your exercise in the morning-it takes effort, but it makes you feel great the rest of the day and you've got it out of the way, no excuses. Trust me, I never thought I would be doing half of what I am doing now, not even a quarter!!!

ROSALIE, I will e-mail you later-hoping you can check your e-mail before you leave. If not, don't worry, will have a message at your hotel for you. Seems we may be staying closer to you than we thought-still not sure-will talk to BOB this morning. Again, have a SAFE TRIP!!!!!!

I've got to run-will check in later with my stats for WIW

No change for. 3rd week in a row at this weight. Not stressed about it at all, seeing major changes in my body so I know I'm not doing myself in!

Something to think about:
Pam B on the Lean and Strong site (a place Body for Lifers hang out) is somewhat of an icon and a real success story. She weights 155 and wears a size 4 ! How can that be? Because the 155 is just about all muscle....and a pound of muscle takes up just one-fourth of the space of a pound of fat!

If you'd like to learn more about her check out her pics and bio at Pam's Story (http://216.97.116.55/cgi-bin/BBS/leanandstrongf.pl?noframes;profile=pam+b.) Scroll all the way to the bottom to see her remarkable pics!

Good luck on the scale everyone.

Peace,

ONLY 2 DAYS TO GO!!!

FRIDAY NIGHT I GET TO SEE DEB, BOB AND VES AND THEN SATURDAY IS THE PAR-TAY!!!

WOO-HOO!!!

Today is my one year anniversary on SB and this board AND today I reached my all time low for the past 12 months -- 194.5! I was dancing and yelling outside the bathroom door waiting for Vince to open the door so I could tell him. Needless to say after the shock of my naked body jiggling up and down he was excited to share the good news with me.

I would like to lose a little faster, but, as hard as it is for me to lose weight with all my health "issues" I figure about a pound a month must be what's realistic for me. BUT I won't start complaining if, with training for the WDW Marathon, the weight starts coming off quicker. :s:

DEB - You ARE registered, aren't you??

TRISH - I was BORN and RAISED in STARKPATCH, MS and I BLEED MAROON AND WHITE - You keep rootin' for them DAWGS - don't pay BOB ANY ATTENTION!! We've had season tickets to every single MSU sporting event for my whole life! We have always been in the MSU Baseball foster parent program and now my parents have graduated to skybox seats for most all the sporting events. The Ladies Basketball Head Coach is a very dear friend of the family and lives right around the corner from my parents. Jackie Sherrill lives right up the road and I don't think my dad has EVER missed a guy's home basketball game. What's the name of the young man on the MSU Basektball team? Okay, I'll quit boring everyone else - I'm passtionate about MSU in case you couldn't tell. :D

FROG and MEL - Im' behind on my reading, but I saw y'all mention shots - I just got a steroid shot in my ankle for the pain and now it hurts worse than it did! He said it would for a little while and to work through the pain and then it would get better - is this the shot y'all were talking about and I'm awfully late on reading up on what could have saved me some pain?

FROG Way to go on the hat trick!! YOU ROCK, GIRLFRIEND!!

BETH ((((((HUGS)))))) You'll reap rewards for being so kind and giving regardless of the ingrates accepting your generosity! I'm glad to hear that the situation hasn't made you bitter and cynical and that you're still tender hearted as ever toward wanting to help people. What a great role model you are!

MARIE Bring a jacket! They say a cold front is coming in this week-end! Thankfully they don't last too long - and it would probably just be chilly for you - cryogenic for us.

 Gotta get to work! Have a great day!

Zanne

:( Well, back up 2 lbs. Seems like my body stalls at 5 lb increments and teases me by bouncing up and down a couple of lbs every week before it decides to shed the weight for good. SIGH! But I'm still trying!

Chat was fun even tho I got booted off a couple of times.

We got snow overnight and it's still coming down!

ROSALIE--Marie, I hope the roads clear up for you! You said you weren't leaving till this afternoon, so it should be ok. You and your family have a safe trip!

DEBELLI Hope Eli's feeling better soon. Poor guy. Poor YOU! Hope you're able to get your sleep with him coughing etc. If I don't get enough sleep I feel yucky.

SOL Doin the happy dance for you! WTG!

FRUIT You too! Congrats on the 2.5 gone

FROG You're doing good things too. Pam B's story is soooo inspiring!

RED1 Sorry to hear about your grandfather. My thoughts are with you and your family.

ADRON Try to get the cookies out of your head. Can you store them someplace else? When you think you want a cookie, go get a big glass of water or some tea or an apple. It'll help get you in a habit of healthy choices. YOU CAN RESIST the cookie temptation!

LDBLOND Thanks for reminding me about the tea! I had read that months ago and bought some green tea. I'll have to set it on the counter to remind me to drink it.

Gotta go and get my morning coffee. Tea later.

Bye for now

Good morning all!

I hope the chat went well. I had wanted to join, but forgot.

Welcome to Ardonsgirl...Catherine
This is a really nice place to get support! Everyone here is so nice and quick to offer any help! I loved your photo album! Your daughters are beautiful and you looked so pretty in your dress! You are still a very newly wed...congrats on finding a good man!

I was good and did my exercises last night, but I only did 20:lol: sit-ups. I am so weak!!! I am gonna try to work my way up...slowly.

As for WIW...I was hoping to be a solid 134...but am 134-135:( Oh well...today is another day.

Have a great day all!!

Sol...

Congrats on your new low! That is encouraging!

When I was on Atkins, he said to use L-Glutamine for sugar cravings. A lot of people use it and said it helped. I think they come in 500mg tabs and he said to try taking 2 a day and go up if needed. It is an amino acid. I don't know if anyone here has tried it or not. The one difference that has surprised me is the "lack" of vitamine talk on SB. With Atkins, he was big on taking them. Granted, in the beginning we were restricted to 20 carbs a day, but it did go up. So just wondering...do you guys use them and if so, what kind.

Morning everyone!

Red1: I am so sorry for your loss of your grandfather. You and your family are in my prayers.

Well, I can finally say that I have lost 1 more pound. I am now to my lowest of 274. I thought the scales would never move in that direction again.

Sorry I missed chat. I actually forgot about it. I'll try to remember next week.

Have a great day

Oh-yes! Down two lbs this morning!!! WoooHooo!

I hope the one-eyed metal moster is good to everyone this morning!

Deb--thanks for the info on the avatars. I found some black cat.gifs that look just like Belle, so I guess I won't be able to use them--at least for a while.

Red1--you have my deepest sympathy on the passing of your grandfather. My thoughts and prayer are with you.

Kimmy--I think the reason we don't talk a lot about vitamins on SB is that most of us feel that we get what we need from our food. I know that I am eating far more nutritionally than I did before SB--fresh vegatable and whole grains as opposed to the foods that have had all the nutirents processed out of them. I have actually stopped taking vitamins since I've been on SB!

I hope everyone else has a wonderful day! I'm headed down to Montgomery to meet with a client all day. Talk to you tomorrow!

Okay...I ended up buying 4, 100 gram Lindt 85% cocoa Dark Excellence bars. I wonder if you could do the count for me on these ones. Here are the ingredients:

85% cocoa minimum

Chocolate, cocoa powder, cocoa butter, sugar, natural vanilla flavour.

I must say....I would NEVER eat this kind of chocolate if it wasn't for this WOE. It is nasty!!!! Bitter as anything...yet it is funny how after you get over the initial bitterness, it actually tastes good. I let my mother try a piece and she thought it was horrendous! hehe

Please let me know the serving size and the grams of fat/prot/carbs. Thanks so much!

Hi,

WIW and I stayed the same...I will take it.

Sef: I use Photo Shop and can reduce a jpeg for an avatar if you send it to me. The program does all the work and
is very easy if you want me to try.

Deb: I don’t know if I can convert a gif into a jpeg file with the Photo Shop program but I will play with it and let
you know.

I was the one that told JRed about the dark agave. I didn’t buy any because I am looking for the light.

JRed: The only Whole Foods that seems to carry the dark agave is the one located on Coit at Belt Line. You might
call before you go all that way. Although they had lots last week, they be all gone today. Would you give me the
name and number of the HFS that said they might get the agave in Rockwall?

Fruitloupe: Congrats on your wonderful success.

Morning everyone,

Last night we got a lovely little wake-up call: my 10 y/o son telling us he thought he was going to throw up. Why they feel the need to stand by your bed at that age to announce it is beyond me. Got the little darlin' tucked back in only to have him wake up again about midnight. Bless his heart, he's got that nasty bug that's been going around here for weeks. Daddy's home with him today.

Solshine: The player's name is Michael Gholar, #21. His sister was my son's assistant BB coach (youth league) and she played as well. Her name is Frances (I assume same last name but don't know for sure). I would guess she's about 30 years old so probably played there 8 or 9 years ago. I love rooting for my Texas Horns but they lost their big center early in the season and they are really going to struggle in the tournament. Alright, is everyone sufficiently bored yet??? Sorry about that, I forgot this is a SB! board not a BB! board, LOL!

Red1: So sorry to hear about your grandfather. Even when we know deep down it's a blessing, it's still hard. I echo everyone else's sentiments in passing my warmest thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

Thanks for the green tea reminder. Like many others, I had heard this before, but forgotten about it. I'm going to get some today. Just love raspberries. Wish they were a little less expensive here. We can get the frozen ones, though which are not as good, but not awful.

Deb: Thanks for the info about the gym. I think we're going to join the YMCA. They have a facility that's not too far from us and the entire family can use it. My almost 17 y/o DS thinks he needs to buff up, too. He wants to join the Marines next year when he graduates and is trying to stay in shape. Just get ready now, girls. You'll have to medicate me when that happens. One one hand I'm extremely proud; on the other hand, scared *@#less.

Congrats to all the losers out there (that sounds so funny saying that) and have fun at your get together this week-end in Orlando.

Gotta run now. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning everyone

I'm not sure what I posted last WIW but I am down two pounds since Feb 17 when I first weighed on the new digital scale. O.K. one of those pounds has been on and off again a few times  I am now at 193 lbs.

Deb - I will be leaving here about 11.00 a.m. as I have to go and pick up my daughter and kids who live about a 25 minute drive away. We also have some nasty weather. Woke up to snow this morning - lovely way to start the trip. I just hope the roads are clear when we leave. I will be coming back to the house but may not have time to check my e-mail again. If I don't hear from you I will check for messages when I get to the hotel.

Sol - WOO HOO for your all time low. That is great news and I am very happy for you. I will certainly be bringing a jacket with me - see note to Deb re weather here - I have a fleece jacket which I wear inside my spring jacket so serves a dual purpose. See you on Saturday.

Congrats to all the losers this week and to others just hang in there. Your turn will come again.

Bye for now.

Marie.

Well... another WIW without a scale. Might have to sneak over to the mother in laws and weigh in!

RED1 - DH and I are both firefighters. He's the captain of the Brush/Attack apparatus, and I'm on the crew of the Rescue truck since I'm the EMT. We've been firefighters since 1997.

Well... I'm doing ok on fats today, and so far no bad consequences from the fiber intake yesterday... actually had FIBER ONE for breakfast today.

I hope the scales are being kind to everyone... I got in my button fly 14's so I know I'm down in inches... not sure about pounds. I'm gonna get out and walk today for sure, supposed to be above freezing for the first time in days!

Have a great day!!!

Hello Everyone!

This board is getting so busy, and so am I. I didn't get to chat last night, because I am babysitting a puppy for a friend, and ow boy. I don't know how you all do it with two dogs, but so far they have been a handfull! I guess if it is your dog, you get to train them to your liking, and you also know when they are in trouble, or just asking for attention. Anyway, I'll be rushing home from school today to take care of the little fellow. he does NOT like his crate.

The scale was up into solid 160 lb this morning. Actually, it was 161 last wednesday than on Thursday thru Friday it was 158, and now it crawled up into 160 again. That's what I mean by "ghost loss" I know I will swing up and down for a couple of pounds, but 160 is just fine with me. My Express jeans fit o.k., so I am content with my current weight. I like this WOE even if I don't see dramatic changes.

I made rice milk last night (it's always sth before the WIW!), and I noticed that 1 cup of rice eaten without solid protein (like milk) gives me a heartburn. I haven't had any since I started this WOE, but yesterday after eating warm rice, I did. Not as badly as usual, but it makes me think I need to avoid rice.

Also, the reason why I didn't lose is probably my newly discovered passion for Sweet potatoes. I love them!!!!!! I ate a yam yesterday, and a day before, and this morning.... I really have to cut down to perhaps once or twice a week. I was doing too good to throw my success away.

FROG - thanks for that article! I don't think I would ever want to look that muscular, but it sure gives me hope to get rid of certain unpleasant "hanging gardens" and improve my muscular tone. Now, if I could only find s.o. to do it for me....:^:

ROSE - adobe photo shop will convert anything into anything. If you have that program, just use "save as" . That's it.

DEB - that last paragraph means, that people have posted pictures on THIS server, but then they go to other places, and instead of loading their pictures again, they just establish a hyperlink, or, they make them appear as if they were on that page, when in reality, they are on OUR space.
That's exactly the same thing that THIS management is telling us to do. Upload our pictures somewhere else (I used to use Tripod.com), then link them to our board. I don't understand the whole "bandwidth" thing, though. There are plenty of sites that will let us use their space to store pictures in order to link them to other pages.

SOL - woohoo on your loss! I guess we just weren't to be my little sunshine ( I want that smiley!!!:dizzy: )and we'll have to contend with Friday. Now I have a puppy dog added to all my tasks... You are welcome to stop by, if you have that extra time and don't know what to do with your slinky self!

FRUIT - I don't shave my legs....but now I am beginning to think all that hair is stalling my scale. I did braid my armpit hair the other day, so perhaps it is time...:D I am joking, of course. Not about shaving, but about....oh, well, so what if I am hairy?
Congrats Fruit, whatever helps!! Now how much do you think a whole set of head hair weighs? For real? When I get really concerned about my weight, I try to devise ways to lift it (it's long, blending with my chest, .... here I go again) just to see how much I would weigh if it was short. Do you ever feel this way?

Congratulations to all you wonderful loosers! The rest, we shall overcome!

Here's a little giggle for Debbie and Viv....:smug:

This is a little known tale of how G-d came to give the Jews the Ten Commandments.

G-d first went to the Egyptians and asked them if they would like a commandment. "What's a commandment?" they asked. "Well, it's like, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," replied G-d. The Egyptians thought about it and then said, "No way, that would ruin our weekends."

So then G-d went to the Assyrians and asked them if they would like a commandment. They also asked, "What's a commandment?" "Well," said G-d, "It's like, THOU SHALT NOT STEAL." The Assyrians immediately replied, "No way. That would ruin our economy."

So finally G-d went to the Jews and asked them if they wanted a commandment.* They asked, "How much?"* G-d said, "They're free."

The Jews said, "Great! We'll take TEN!"

SMILE......IT'S CONTAGIOUS!!!!! ;)

hi all

Just got back from taking Sadie to the vet for her yearly shots she did great but I am covered in fur.

I am down another 2lbs and DH is down 2.5.

Red1 - thanks for the kind words in support of our military. Its hard sometimes especially now. We noticed such support after Sept 11 but now we are already having people discount what our troops are doing. I had a lady last week tell me that we shouldn't be over there fighting and we are wasting tax payers money - thats the hardest part. My hubby is in the Navy and just left for a seven month depoloyemnt (and is out there keeping her *** safe). He's doing great Sbing as much as possible. A lot of guys (and gals) do lose when they go out to sea but then they don't have all the temptations we do. I think just cutting out beer helps a lot of people. The ship does have one or two steel beach picnics where they put lawn chairs out on the flight deck and everyone gets issued 2 beers. People who don't like beer make a killing selling theres. On another note, my prayers go to you and your family with the lose of your grandfather.

The place that said they could get agave cannot. I spent an hour calling every health food store in the area and no one had it. I finally found one lady that at least new what it was and called her distributer - she ordered me a case and it will be in next week. It was higher than what you guys in FL are paying $3.30 8oz but I guess beggers can't be chosers.

Adron - welcome to the board. The in-laws live in Cordova - we try to get there evey summer so maybe we can get together in a few months. I too have a house full of Girl Scout cookies. My DD is a senior - I can't wait for her to get her gold award and be done. I did taste one of the new Ole Ole low fat cookies just to see what they were like. I rationalised that one serving was 5 cookies which had 10grams of sugar and I only ate one (plus they are made with wheat flour). BUT - this was worst than not having one at all so don't do it. I do not even want to eat my usual favorites but since I have tasted the new one it calls to me. Be smart stay away.

Trishaloo - I'll hold your hand if your son enlists. There are lots of marines on DH's ship. Of course we are partial to sailors ;) Hope your other sons gets better quick.

Congats to all the losers - never thought being acalled a loser would make me happy :smug:

Well, boo hoo. I'm up 2 pounds. I shouldn't be surprised. I haven't been too good lately.:o
This has been a rough week. I had a program with my first graders last night and again this morning. It went very well but I am pooped. The kids were great and did a good job, but this particular group of teachers is hard to work with. One of them still doesn't speak to me because of some things that happened with last year's program.
Everyone is finally well at our house. Just battling allergies now. Dennis went this morning and had a bone density test done. He hasn't talked to the dr. yet but the technician said he definitely had several thin spots. She measured him and he's almost 3 inches shorter than he was when he finished high school.
We pick up James' glasses this afternoon. I hope he continues to be excited about them. His birthday is tomorrow - 6 yrs. old! He's soooo excited. We're having his party Sat. Boys only. He didn't want any girls there.

Welcome to our new TEXAS folks! We definitely will have to get together.

DEBBIE: Sorry Eli is sick. I hope he is a better patient than Dennis. :s:

POOCH: Contrats on the loss. I hope I can post a loss soon. I too want to say how much I appreciate those serving in the military. It has to be hard for your hubby to be away as well as it is for you. My FIL was career Navy and was gone a lot when Dennis was growing up.

BOB: Loved the story about the 10 Commandments:lol:

VESNA: Don't you just love those sweet taters? We even have a festival in a nearby town where my MIL lives - the Yamboree- every Oct.

RED1: I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather. I'll be thinkin about you.

Sorry I can't get to everyone. Kiddies coming down the hall.

Here's my messed up post:
I think my scale is stuck. I keep moving it around the bathroom, pointing in different directions, but nothing
changes. Stuck forever at 137, but my body is looking different. Hubby noticed bones sticking up in my
shoulders, and is bemoaning the boob loss , but I'll take that if it means the gut follows .

Sol- whoo hoo on the scale moving for you! just think what great shape you'll be in by WDWM time! I think it
was you that asked about the steriod shots? I had cortisone injected into my hip to releive pain from
fibromyalgia- very short term solution and the shot was ungodly painful. Should have just taken more advil. I
don't know about foot problems, that's more FROG's domain.

Red1- Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your grandfather.

Marie- Have a great trip! I hope you make it past Buffalo! If you got snow, they must be buried again.

Congrats to the losers! I know I've lost fat, it's just not showing up on the scale due to my awesome quad and
bicep development .

Life is getting crazy around here again, hence short infrequent posts. Soccer games and practice, distant
lacrosse games to go to, and this weekend we have a birthday dinner for an old friend at a Chinese rest. on
Friday (have no idea what I can eat if anything!) and a neighborhood progressive dinner (of which I am the
organizer, dessert maker, and dessert house). Made a frozen tira misu yesterday and promptly got a headache
from licking my fingers. Serves me right but that filling is soooo good. I'm going to have to handcuff myself to
the door knob to stay away from the dessert table. Maybe I'll make some of those almond orange bars with
agave, just so there's something I can eat without getting a sugar headache.

Welcome to all the newbies- Rose, Andron (put those cookies somewhere else!), and everybody else whose
name I've forgotten.

Bye for now,

mel

Back down to 163, that's 2.5 lbs from last week, and only 13 lbs from goal. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.......

Deb, I'm glad they figured out what's wrong with Eli. I hope he gets better soon.

Red1, I'm sorry for the loss of your Grandfather... may he rest in peace and may the Lord help you and your family during this time of loss.

Fruitloupe, Sef, SheAnn, Fillise, Pooch, Congrats on your weight loss!

Solshine, Happy Anniversary!

Zanne, You and are in the same boat. I went back to food journals this week and I'm watching for patterns that need to motified. Don't know if you journal, but maybe this might help.

Kimmy, I take a multi-vitamin/mineral supplement every day

Yellowrose, sometimes maintenance even more rewarding...you're doing great!

Trishaloo, Hope your son is feeling better soon. It may start going round my house, but I hope not. My daughter let me know that one of the day care kids got sick while she was there yesterday.

Vesnoid, Your still down a solid pound from last Wednesday , that's great.

Pooch, Don't you listen to those fools who don't know that the men and women that serve our country are heros! Arrrg....this is a sore spot for me, I'm a military brat and have great respect for those who serve our country. It irks me when clueless people make remarks like you quoted, they just don't have a clue!

MusicTeach, Glad to hear the family is getting healthy again.

Meliris, LOL! I promise, after the boob loss, the gut does follow. It's so weird how we women lose weight, from head to toe. I was so surprised! I know from being on this woe for over a year now that when you gain any back it goes to your gut and butt. That's where I'm trying to get it off of now....and I will - I want to fit back in bikini and for good this time.

Glad some of you are enjoying your tea, I must go buy some myself!

Have a wonderful afternoon!

Hey girls

I just caught up on the latest posts..actually had time today because I came home early from school. I had an allergic reaction to something and my body started itching all over and turning red. I didn't eat anything that I shouldn't have (from my food allergy chart) so I dont' know what's up with me. So, I came home, took benadryl and I'm getting really sleepy and it's 4:10 in the afternoon!

SOL: Did I know that you were a MSU fan? I don't remember you mentioning that before or I could have just been skimming and missed it! Congrats on the new low! How great!

FROG: I told you that you should have taken off that nail polish - that could have been your pound right there!

ZANNE: Sorry that you kept getting "the boot" last night! I love chatting with all of you!

KIMMY: Think of it this way - 20 sit ups is better than no sit ups at all! Go girl!

SEF: Way to go on the loss - fabuloso!

SHEANN: Awesome on the loss - we are both almost out of the 270s! Go us! Go us!

FILLISE: Just remembered about the story of the cat peeing on you - too funny! I had a dog pee on me not that long ago! It was hilarious! WTG on the 2 pounds - you'll be in the 100s before you know it!

YELLOW: No gain is just fine - better than a gain - always look at it that way!

VES: I've got a visual of the armpit hair braids and it is not pretty! HAHA! Good thing you and I aren't room mates!

RED1: So sorry to hear about your grandfather - I'll be keeping you and your family in my prayers!

MELIRIS: I wish I were stuck at 137 - that would be fab for me!!! I would actually be way too skinny!

LDBLOND: you will be reaching that goal before you know it! We're all cheering for you!

DEB: Give Eli - big wet kisses from me and tell him that I hope he feels better real soon!

OH - for those of you that may have mentioned my friends band in your little prayers on Saturday night - thanks and here's the update - THEY ARE GETTING A BIG FAT CONTRACT! We are so happy for them - you have absolutely no idea how hard it is to make it in the music business until you live through the ups and downs of it with friends. They worked so hard for many years and now it will pay off! I'll keep y'all posted! Thanks again for the prayers!

See you ladies later - I'm gonna take a nap!

Well... I have to say I was afraid I was just a 'Lane Bryant' size 14. I was honestly starting to think that they had their sizes a little 'big' to make us think we were smaller than we are... because there are some 18's that are still tight on me in other brands....

Well today, MEL's package arrived (BLESS YOU MEL!!!) and I tried on size 14's in 4 different brands AND THEY FIT!!! I'm a *REAL* size 14!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know why I didn't believe it when it was Lane Bryant clothes. I guess it was easy for me to convince myself it would be good for their business if their customers could wear a smaller size in their clothes, than in other brands... cause you'd much rather BUY a smaller size. But today I can't deny it... I CAN WEAR A 14!!!! MEL - you're an angel for sending me those clothes... the shorts are great, and the pants fit except for 3 pair that were too short, and I passed them to my next door neighbor who is struggling with $$ and thanks you GREATLY!!

I guess I can't deny a loss this week, even tho I still have no scale. But TOM is due in 5 days... so I'm hoping for a nice scale jump/clothes fit after he leaves!

I've done ok with eating today... already went over in my fats, and need to drink more water... but it's all been 'legal' so that's one plus! I'm doing what I did last month, eating EVERYTHING in the house. I did FIBER ONE for breakfast, and I'm having BEANS with dinner... so my fiber will be over 35 by the time I go to bed. DH may have to sleep in a different room :o .

Hope everyone is having a TERRIFIC Wednesday!!

Fruit...

You and I must have been posting at the same time. Congrats to your friends. Long ago, I used to be a photographer and new many of the hot bands of my day. They did indeed struggle and many were so poor...even the "bigger" ones. I hope they keep a good head on...it is tough. I had a dear friend die due to drugs. It can be so tempting for them.

Thanks also for the encouragement. 20 is better than none.

It looks as if I am down one pound. It may be two, but I don't want to get excited, and just have it bounce back up tomorrow. I am feeling rather discouraged. I have so much to lose, and it seems impossible to get beyond the first 15 pounds.

Any one who takes Glucophage...can you tell me if it affects your appetite? I have been STARVING hungry all the time since I started taking it, and it seems to be getting worse. I am wondering if I am not eating enough, or what the problem can be. I just had about 6 triscuits with low fat swiss cheese on them, and I still feel hungry! I am trying to increase my water to at least a gallon a day, but even that is not helping.

Debelli made a comment about her running helping with the hunger, and I have tried to see if exercising helps. It does a bit, but does not last more than half an hour. I walked this morning for an hour, and 30 minutes later I was ready to chew on the woodwork. Help!

GRACIOUS: I don't know about the 85% chocolate. I only have found the 70% Lindt bars.

Beth2374 CONGRATULATIONS! How exciting for you! Seeing is believing, I hope you feel fantastic about yourself ~ you should!!

Kimmy Which machine did you get?

Monet Don't get discouraged, one pound another one lost. If I'm understanding you correctly you are weighing every day, this is a habit you may want to break. I found that weighing weekly when I was just starting SB gave me personal rewards that I don't seem to get now that I weigh everyday. I've thought about going back to once a week myself, but I use weight commander and it says to weigh every day? Any comments from others on this? As for being hungry all the time, does it help you to have a larger portion of protien in your meals and for snacks?

Hello everybody. I know I’m way behind on my postings, but I will do my best to get mostly caught up. Hope you all are well. It seems from what I’ve read that we had a very successful WIW today. You girls are kicking dimply butt and taking names. Way to go!!!!!!

I did geton the scale at home today. I figured I have to bite the bullet sometime. It sure wasn’t very pretty, but at least I now have something to work from. I go tothe doctors next week for the yearly and will weigh in there too. So I have two comparisons going. Started back with FitDay 100% this week. My portions control was out of control. So this is helping tremendously. I am really hoping for a loss this next week, but hey, who isn’t, right???

I did pretty well for supper tonight. Opened a can of salmon and didn’t make patties. Just measured out a 1/2 cup and ate it with some spinach and noodles. Yummy!!! That salmon can really help kick up your protein intake with little fat and calories.

RED1---So sorry to hear of your grandfather’s passing. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I know just what you mean about not liking to be alone. I’m the same way. I used to be Miss Independent and then dh came along and now I sing a different story.

DEB---Thanks for saying you’d email me before you leave. I’m just guessing as to what’s a correct calorie count. I’ll feel better when we get the official Debelli stamp of approval. Are you getting so excited??? Another big weekend!!!!! Lucky you. Have fun. Take lots of pictures.

FROG---Thanks for telling us about Pam B. I can’t wait to read all about her. Hey, hope you are feeling better today. Plan on going to the dr before it starts getting you down???

LOUPE---Way to go on the loss!!! That’s a big one. Those legs of yours must have been quite grizzly. How many razors did you go through? Ha! Just kidding you know!

SOL----CONGRATULATIONSCONGRATULATIONSCONGRATULATIONSCONGR ATULATIONSCONGRATULATIONSCONGRATULATIONSCONGRATULA TIONSCONGRATULATIONSCONGRATULATIONSCONGRATULATIONS CONGRATULATIONS on your new all-time low, on sticking with this plan for one year, for sticking with this board for one year and for jumping up and down in your birthday suit!!!! I can just imagine the thoughts running through Vince’s mind when he opened that door. Were you two late for work???? LOL

SEF---Let’s hear it for that scale of yours that finally got its act together. I am so excited for you. You must be feeling great!!! Keep up the hard work. It’s paying off. Have you taken measurements to use that as a mark of your success.

FILLISE---This is awesome!!! Two more pounds just dropping off you. Way to go!!! That’s so exciting. You are working hard and you are reaping the benefits. Doesn’t that loss feel better than all those illegal things taste?????

YELLOWROSE---Don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you. I’m the Quilter or Kim or Maddie’s mommy. Whatever. But I am so happy that you’ve joined us. I’m sure you already realize what a great place this is to be. And I hope you have real successes with this WOE. Just wondering if you are a computer artist. Just thought maybe since you actually own photoshop. That’s a major primo program that can work miracles, isn’t it? Can I call you ROSE?

ROSALIE---Way to go on the two pound loss!!! That’s great. You are going to be ready for that FL bikini yet. Glad to hear that you are having some losses. It’s so great when that happens. Also wanted to say, I hope your trip goes well and I’m sending you travelling mercies. I’ll be waving. Just watch for the rolly-polly redhead in Cincinnati. That will be me.

BOB---Your joke was hilarious. Am I allowed to laugh or is that politically incorrect??? Hey, email me your address. I have something I want to send to you.

POOCH---I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about when you say you are home fromthe vets and covered. Miss Maddie goes hog wild with the shedding when we are there. I think when they get their nerves going, that hair just shoots off them. Hey, have you seen that show called The Pet Psychic. I watched it for the first time last night. I’m not sure what I think of it yet. Like if I think she’s for real. But she does seem to have a tremendous love for all animals which carries a lot of weight in my book.

Well, sorry to cut this short. I know Imissed some of you. So so sorry. I’ll try to catch you later in the week. Friday is a busy, busy day for me. Our furnace people are coming to reroute the exhaust from the back of the house to the side of the house. This is because the current exhause was exiting the house right where the NEW DECK will be going. Then the Cinergy (power people) are coming out to install some sort of remote deally on our meters that are in the basement. Plus I am having two girlfriends over for lunch. Whew!!! I’m already spent!!! So I may be busy tomorrow night getting the house ready for all that stuff. But then again, I may procrastinate and leave it all for Friday morning. Ha!

Take care you all. Congrats to allthe losers. And HUGS to all who’s scales weren’t cooperative. Better luck next week.

Hey Y'all!

Well, was dressed and ready to go for my morning exercise only to step outside to find it was raining:( The day here in Miami stunko and it rained litely most of the day. Around 11am I had ants in my pants and decided to go out and get my jog/walk in. It was misty rain on me part of the way, windy, but I prevailed and did it. I was able to jog all but .10-.20 of my 4.5 miles-that made me happy:)

Can't complain about WIW-I'm at 120, down from last week by 3.5lbs, but still up 2 from my lowest ever. I'm just happy to be staying within my 5lb cushion and even happier to be at the lower end of it:D

Tomorrow is going to be VERY busy for me. I will be preparing the quiche and the cheesecake to take on Friday and will wait til I get to SOL'S house to prepare the hummus. I have to get other things ready as well- you all don't have a clue what I am carting up to Orlando with!

After BOB and I spent some time on the phone we finally got a place to stay. We'll be staying in Lake Buena Vista, outside Disney. BOB sure was glad to find they had a fridge in the room-between the 2 of us, we're sure to buy SOMETHING that needs refridgeration!

We are planning to meet at the hotel probably between 3-4pm and then meet up with SOL & VESNA for dinner-can't wait!!! Most likely, shopping will be the evening activities;)

I still have to find volunteers for the school for next week-have to be on the phone tonight-not fun!

Found an interesting food item at PUBLIX yesterday, never noticed it before. It's FRIENDSHIP WHIPPED COTTAGE CHEESE, it says it's spreadable-well, it's DELICIOUS!!! Has no preservatives in it. Reminds me of farmer cheese but lighter and better-worth a try if you have this brand available and you like cottage cheese. I can see using it in place of ricotta in recipes-yummy!

VES, Just thought about you this morning, was looking in my "SNACK CABINET" and realized some crackers I have in there, made in SLOVENIA:D If SOL hasn't called you, she will. Never heard of rice giving heartburn-interesting. I sorta understand your explanation about the pictures-though I still haven't a clue what bandwith is!! See you in a few!!!

FROG, I'm sure with all the recent lbs you've lost your body is just re-adjusting itself and gearing up for another loss soon. I'll have to check out the site you posted when I get a chance.

FRUIT, WTG, CONGRATS!!! Just think, 2 more lbs and you'll be back under 270 again!! Little milestones!!! CONGRATS to your friends too, that's great. Hmmm, if I give him a big fat kiss, maybe I can get another date?? LOL! Oops, he's sick, guess I'll have to wait! Darn!!

SOL, it was good to hear your voice-I swear, you have the most cheerful voice I've ever heard!! CONGRATS ON YOUR 1 YEAR SB ANNIVERSARY!!!!!!! CONGRATS ON YOU HITTING A NEW LOW!!!! Two wonderful milestones!!!! I wish I would of seen this before we talked, I would of congratulated you on the phone too. I guess we'll have to have a combo SB GET TOGETHER & HAPPY SB ANNIVERSARY PART!!! I was LMAO when I read about your excitement outside the bathroom door!!!

ZANNE, don't know if you saw my message in the chat room since you kept getting booted out of there-but I did get your agave syrup yesterday. Eli's hacking IS keeping me up at night-he says he doesn't hear himself doing it, I sure as heck do. Hoping tonight is better-I'm lacking big time on my beauty sleep and surely are going to frighten everyone on Saturay!

KIMMY, some exercise is better than none, and besides, I don't even think I could do 20 sit-ups if I tried.

SEF, great news to hear the scale is moving down-CONGRATS on this weeks loss!!!

SHEANN, CONGRATS on your loss and with hitting a new low, and a new milestone! Getting under that 275 mark is a big deal.

FILLISE, CONGRATS to you, 2 more lbs down the drain is awesome!!!! Let's hope SUZANNE reinstates the gifs-I'll ask her and tell you all what she says.

GRACIOUS, I can't help you out on the other bar, I have never seen one of them, though ROSALIE is suppose to be bringing me some. If no one else is able to between now and when I return, and the info is on the bar, I'll get you the info. Again, remember a 1/2 ounce 3X a week. I was a chocoholic, white chocolate was my all time favorite, but since it's hard to get white chocolate I'd stick with the milk chocolate. I HATED dark chocolate-now, I could never see myself eating anything else but dark chocolate. I've tried so many different ones, each being unique and they've all been delicious!

ROSE, well, at least you didn't gain-so congrats for staying the same this week;) I have adobe photo deluxe and I will try to convert the gifs to jpgs when I get a chance-let's just hope she puts it back the old way-I have so many gifs I like to use and I think they really add to the posts.

TRISH, hope DS is feeling better. I think the YMCA is a great choice in a place to go-esp. if the whole family will benefit. I can only imagine how you must be pulled both ways with having DS wanting to go to the military-heck, I think I'll have to be medicated just watching Michael get his diploma-let's not even mention when I have to leave him at college-nope, I couldn't imagine having a child go to the military-esp. not these days. Very noble!! We'll be here for you, through thick or thin!!!

BETH, oh, I'm sure that Fiber One will be kicking in soon if it hasn't already!!! I think it's great you don't have a scale, use the button fly jeans as your measuring device instead of the scale-watch as they fall off of you soon, you'll know there's been pounds lost! I can hear the excitement in your post about the pants MEL sent you-that's awesome!!! Tell me that not only makes you proud of what you've already accomplished, but doesn't it make you just want to continue on, full force, 100%?? It's a great feeling!

BOB, cute Jewish joke. LMK if there's anything else you think of before we leave!!!!

POOCH, CONGRATS to not only you, but to DH as well-that's wonderful news. Glad to hear you found agave, but hate to see someone taking advantage of you on the price. I wouldn't hesitate to ask her for a case discount-she knows it's going right out the door and doesn't have to stock it-she should lower it a bit for you-nothing to lose by asking.

MUSIC, don't worry about those 2lbs, I'm sure you'll rid yourself of them soon. Tell James HAPPY BIRTHDAY from your friends on the board.

MEL, I can delete it for you, but it's really easy. Go to that post and click on EDIT to the right of your name and there's a box there that says DELETE, check it off and then submit it-that's it! How long have you actually been at 137? I went about a month without really losing anything, so maybe as you are getting close to your goal it's going to be slow moving for a while-patience my dear. Hey, for the dessert table, just make something SB LEGAL, and don't tell anyone what it is and just eat that-that way, you can eat dessert and no one will even know it's "diet". Hey, {{{HUGS}}} to you for not only sending BETH those clothes, but for making her feel wonderful by doing so!!!

LDBLOND, CONGRATS!! Great news on the scale. I think though, you need to say I CAN, I CAN, I CAN!!!!

MONET, CONGRATS on your loss-so is it 1lb or 2? Hey whatever the scale says today is what you work with today, don't worry about tomorrow. When I got on the scale this morning it was 120, later in the morning it was below that-but I stuck with 120. For me, I do see a decrease in my hunger, maybe the more intensity there is has something to do with how much it effects you? Not sure. BUT, also think of this, exercise also boosts your metabolism for hours afterwards!!!!

QUILTER, will e-mail you later, fer shur! Excited, you bet!!! I can't wait. The SB PAPARRAZI will be clicking away this weekend, you can bet your bottom dollar on that one!! Wish you were here!!!

Well gals, seems I'm all caught up for the night. Going to watch some tv and make phone calls before ELi gets home.

Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow.

Oh yes, one other little note-I hope you will all keep the board hopping this weekend with so many of us away on Saturday. I'll be looking forward to seeing all the posts when I get home late Sunday!!!

Beth- I'm so glad you are a real size 14 and I was able to help! so you didn't like the capri look?:D Glad your neighbor could use them. I could feel your excitement jumping off the computer screen! I've got a pile of size 12's that aren't short (they were way too long on me) so let me know when you are ready;)

Fruit- Don't think I'm skinny! I'm only 5'3" so 137 is not skinny for me:( . Tho my family is starting to call me that. But as Deb said before, they just aren't used to seeing me this way for so long, they don't remember what I used to look like. There's still plenty of jiggle to go!

Quilter- Sounds like you're back on the wagon and headed the right direction. I know before I started SB, I hadn't gotten on the scale in 6 months out of fear. Now I can't get off the darned thing.

Frog- what do you think of Pam B's lats? I can't decide if I want to look like that or not. Given that she's 13 years younger than me, I'm not sure I could if I wanted to, and it did take her 4 challenges to get there. Sure wouldn't mind those abs, tho.

Hope everyone, their spouses and kids are felling better,

Here's a picture of BOB'S SWEETIE! This was taken at the party ELI had at STARBUCKS on FEB 22nd. Hey BOB, remember what I said about the pillow, if you're not careful, you won't need the spray, the pillow will work fine and dandy!

You guys are amazing! I managed to hold out last night, and the cookies never got me :D

Red1 - way to go on avoiding the Thin Mints! I ate *1* the day after they got here, and I suffered a miserable headache, and thought I was cured of my need for them. At least until last night....

Deb - that makes so much sense! I have a feeling if I picked up a cigarette now after not having one in 4+ years, I would very likely be back on, so if I can just think of chocolate as a cigarette...! Thanks for the encouragement. Now how long does it take to retrain your thinking???

Zanne - I put 'em back in the back of my van, where they belong! Just having all those cookies in my living room nearly killed me  LOL about the apple - I hadn't read your post, but I came home from dropping some cookies off, grabbed an apple and some Wee Brie and snacked out! Fruit is pretty much unlimited, right? I mean, I can eat legal fruits whenever I want, as long as it is far enough away from a meal?

Kimmy - :o Thank you so much! You are too sweet :D I see what you mean about how friendly everyone is - what a great place!

Pooch - can't believe that you've heard of Cordova ;) Next time you head this way, let me know! I feel your pain with the Ole Oles - I got to sample everything at the cookie training, and I adore the Mexican wedding cakes, so those were right up my alley. How nice to have a Sr. - and so close to her gold!!! Mine is just a Brownie, with a pre-Daisy still at home. Long way to go....

Mel - thanks for the welcome! I am having a bridal shower at my house Saturday, and I think I am going to have to make a sugar free something just so I won't eat the cake. I hate using sweetners (can't find agave in Memphis, so I've been using Stevia and Splenda very sparingly), but I know that I'd rather have the fake stuff than the real stuff!

BOB - actually, I am a 3rd generation Tigers fan. You are so old-school calling them Memphis State, not UofM. I thought I was the only one that still did that... :D I believe my grandmother went there when it was still Memphis Normal School. But when it comes to football, I am a fan of whoever is playing UT, and I've been a Tide and Gator fan as long as I can remember. Did you go to UT, or just get drawn in by the sunny team colors? :D BTW you have one nice lookin' man!!!!

Hi. I was wondering how many ladies here is pregnant. I have a few questions.
What are your menus like?
Do you do anything different from the book?
Have you lost weight while pregnant?
What does your doctors think?

Well thats just a few.
I am 18 wks pregnant and on the 3rd day of SB. Hopefully I'm doing ok. I haven't talked to my Dr. yet. I will see her next week. I started this (surprise) pregnancy VERY overweight. I would like to lose weight but mainly want to keep from gaining the extra pregnancy weight that does nothing except stay on you after the baby comes. Please help me out and post your experiences.
Thanks!

Just a quickie before I head off to bed

AdronsGirl - We know alot about the area becuase the inlaws retired (from the navy) out at Millington. They used to live up near the Tipton County line. Sis in law lives in Cordova and so does one of my bestest friends (also retired form the navy). We haven't been back there in almost 3 years (we were stationed overseas) but definately will sometime this summer. My sister-in law has just started SB too - I'll let her know about you. But I will be totally jealous - I seem to be the only VA person :(

Debelli - I already asked for a case discount but she wouldn't budge - its all about supply and demand. She did ask me to bring in a few recipes using Agave - any suggestions or favorites. Maybe if I get on her good side she'll change her mind.

I'm off to bed see you all tomorrow - I am falling asleep as I type - must be getting old 'cause its only 9:30.

hi girls, welcome again to all the new girls on the board, we are certainly growing into a big happy family! i just got off home from work and it is quite relaxing to read all the posts.

we had a dinner inservice tonight with one of our favorite surgeons. they called it dinner with a doc, and it was BYOB! for bring your own boobs! yes, it was everything you ever needed to know about breast cancer. one of the girls i work with has a sister in tenn. who at the age of 38 developed breast cancer and has gone through it all the mastectomy and chemo etc. my friend donna is now religious about letting everyone know about self breast exams and the importance of early detection and that yearly mammogram that we all dread. SO TO ALL MY FRIENDS ON THIS BOARD PLEASE DO YOUR MONTHLY CHECKS AND GET THAT YEARLY MAMMOGRAM! and encourage your friends and sisters and relatives, it is so important! there that is my public service announcement for the day!

red1-so sorry about your loss, your family is in my thoughts.

catherine-stay away from those GS cookies! my daughter sarah is a junior this year and we sold over 150 boxes in addition to those booth sales. i have not had 1 cookie so far and this is my choice, i found that if i had other legal things in the house that were exclusively for me it was less of a temptation, so i have made legal sb cheesecakes, zucchini loaf and apple crisps. i freeze some things in individual portions and just knowing they are there for me helps. of course i did fall into a pound of all things potato salad(which made me sick) a few weeks ago but i seem to manage the obvious temptations. YOU CAN DO IT!

to all the losers keep it up and congrats, to those who did not (i stayed the same) stay focused and be patient. i changed my pix on the chat to a turtle because that is how i feel about my weight loss, 28 pounds since september, just slow and steady. and now i realize that is the best way for me, besides i am a southern girl i don't hurry!

marie, deb and bob-drive safely please. cannot wait until saturday!

take care all,

chris

Well today was the day. My very first cheat. I ate illegal foods galore during a quick afternoon *carbalicious & fat fest* I am very disappointed with myself because I had stayed on plan perfectly til today. I believe I am on Day 27 of SB...but also Day 3 of TOM. That is no excuse of course..just stating a fact.

I have picked myself up and brushed myself off but I am still extremely disappointed. I think I am not going to weigh myself until TOM goes.

Anyway...just needed to confess to my sister SB'ers!

Good evening to everyone!!!

Again I am here late and tired and now I have disappointment on top of it. I was realy looking forward to getting a chance to meet all that will be in Orlando this weekend, but I am just not going to be able to make it.

I have been working on a comupter projext, running it really, which is new territory for me, and we start the installation on Monday and I still have prep work to do. I have been working
60-70 hours each week for the past 6 weeks getting this ready and I feel like I am going to drop anytime. I am very over tired and need so good sleep. I would worry about driving that far when i can't stay awake for a 30 minute t v show.

Please know that I will be there in spirit and I do hope that you all enjoy yourselves. Please do not be upset that I just can't make it.

Need to get some sleep, hope to post over the weekend.

Have a safe trip.

Hi all... By the time I get finished reading all the posts for the day and bacause of the time change you all are in bed. WIW was ok I was down a pound. I know if I did some exercise it would come off faster.

Not feeling to perky tonight. I have a tickle in my throat. This is not good. I have to much work to do to get sick.

Thanks for all your prayers.

BigKnightsMomma - I am right on target with you. Since I had a hystorectomy 9 years ago because of cervical cancer cells I am a very pro active on yearly check ups. Ladies don't forget.

Deb - Where do you get your tahni for your hummus? I have looked at the grocery store but to no avail. Is it at the health food stores? I have been using sesame oil and it makes it to runny. It tastes ok but the consistancy isn't right.

Monet320 - Don't get dicouraged. I am at a 10lb stall. I am not going to give up and neither should you. I know that I am not exercising and that if I did the weight would come off faster.
Hang in there girl. You can make it.:)

Got to go to bed. I am losing it fast.

Everyone have a great day tomorrow.

Hi everyone!

I haven't posted in a while, but I did want to drop in and let you know that I'm still here and sticking to the plan! :) I have fallen WAY behind on the boards. UGH! I have lost maybe a pound or two in the last couple weeks, but as long as the scale isn't going UP, I'm happy. Been almost 3 months now with no chocolate, soda (aside from diet), junk food, etc. Never would have thought that possible. My only temptation has been carbs, however. I have lost the pizza battle a few times, and God knows I really have to restrain myself when eating rice! I've been busy with school and just life in general. Just wanted to post an update of sorts. I hope everyone is doing well, and I will try to post again soon!

Good Thursday Morning:wave:

Thought I'd get in my post early since I was up early.

Scale is looking good this morning but won't post today's weight until after I get rid of this DOOKIE HOUSER effect, has to be good for some weight! Last night I had a little BREYERS COFFEE ICE CREAM, was delicious, esp since I only have had REAL ice cream maybe less than a dozen times in 2 years, usually only at BD Parties and it tasted sooo good. So good going down, as well as coming up! Of course, not to be so gross, but for some reason, it came right back up-so I'm NOTcounting it in my journaling!!! LOL!!!

HAPPY, I can tell you that when we met up last time, I was so psyched and re-motivated like never before. You'll see in just 2 days the difference of how you will feel:D Hey, I can always bring the TRAVELING DETOX DUNGEON for you, if that doesn't work, maybe the GAS CHAMBER WILL!!!

ADRON, CONGRATS for resisting those GS cookies-doesn't it feel great to have the control?!? Each day it gets easier, I promise! Just stay focused and remember what you really want, not the junk food, but the weight loss-you just have to remember each time you may be tempted to say, what do I want more, this cookie that will take one second to eat but do more harm than good, or the weight loss. I always picked the weight loss. You can do it and we're here to support that fact:)

MISSY, WELCOME TO THE BOARD & CONGRATULATIONS!!! I'm not pregnant, thank goodness! You'll understand when you're kids are teenagers how one can say that! BUT, SB is a great WOE to follow while you are pregnant unless your Dr. says otherwise. This will definitely help you, even if you don't lose weight, to eat healthier not only for yourself, but the baby.

POOCH, I surely wouldn't give someone like her any good recipes, she'd probably use them to try and sell more agave to her benefit, yet not budging on the price with you. No, I'm sorta thinking one hand has to wash the other on this one. I vote to not give her anything. Tell her you are experimenting with it to develop some of your own recipes and you'll let her know if you come up with anything good. Ask her if you order another case if she'd come down in price, that everyone on this board has told you that's the highest they've heard yet-I hate price gougers! Wonder how she would like it!!!!

BIGK, see you in a little over 48 hours!!!!!

GRACIOUS, so you got run over by the wagon, as long as it stopped there, that's what's important. I think it's also important to know why this may of happened to prevent it from happening again-what triggered this event and why did you react to it with non-SB legal foods?? What was going through your mind as you were having your feeding frenzy and how did it make you feel during and after. Trust me, it's not the end of the world and probably won't have any impact on your losses and progress thus far, it's if you don't get right back OP that it will. You aren't the first person to have a episode like this. As long as you've learned something from it, make a negative into a positive.

LAMAP, sorry you can't make it - maybe next time.

RED1, CONGRATS on this weeks loss!!! Hope you aren't getting sick! I buy the tahini at the Middle Eastern grocery store. You can try a Greek store if there isn't a ME store around. HFS do carry it, usually a bit more expensive. I wouldn't use the sesamee oil, just not the same. If you can't find it locally, I could send you a jar, or I'm sure there's sites on line that you can order from. Good tahini makes a BIG difference. Scout the yellow pages and see if you can find a grocer in your area first though.

DARAMUS, glad to hear you are still OP and doing well. We thought another man who had graced our board had bitten the dust! CONGRATS on continuing to stay well focused.

Okay, I'm getting dressed and going out the door. Hoping the weather is better this morning than yesterday, though I hear it's going to be raining, though I don't hear it right now.

I have a full day ahead of me but will definitely check in as I can sometime later.

Have a great day!

If you can't find it at the grocery store, the health food store will definitely have it. It keeps forever in the fridge.

Hi Everybody. Just checking in and responding to a couple of people.

BKM---Congrats on the victory over GS cookies. Wish I could say the same thing, but they did get to me a couple of weeks ago. You are so strong! That is awesome! I like your idea of freezing individual portions of legal stuff. How cool. But I thought, "How does she do all that and work a full-time job?" Are you wonder woman or something??? Thanks for the reminder to take care of "the girls". I love hearing people promote healthy breasts. Many on this board know that my very best friend spent most of last year battling bc. She's better now, but still suffers from edema in her arm on the side that the surgery took place. That's no fun either. But she just keeps smiling and laughing and loving life, despite all the little discomforts.

GRACIOUS---Reach and hand up and we'll haul your butt back up onto the wagon. It can be a bumpy ride at times and I've had my share of spills. But we are all here to encourage you and keep you back on track. Remember to keep your eye on the goal, whether it's a number on the scale or a size or a pair of pants or whatever it is that you want to see at goal. Whenever you are tempted think about this image and keep it at the forefront of your mind. Not the illegal food.

Well, that's it for me. Gotta run and finish getting ready. Have a great day. Remember . . . it's Friday Eve!!!!! Yippee!!!!!

We are having a beautiful day in Dallas.

I posted a recipe for pancakes on the recipe board. They are very good, easy to make and turn out light and fluffy.
The pizza dough recipe it also there.

Solshine: Such good news all around. What a sweet reply to Beth about her helping others.

Kimmy: I take a One A Day vitamin and the doctor approves of my way of eating and my blood test are coming
back great, so, I guess they are doing the trick along with my improved eating. Did I miss something? What does a
butt machine look like?

Trish: So sorry that your son is ill.

Vesnoid: Thanks for the backup on the Adobe Photo Shop information. Do you use that program also? I took a
couple of classes in it but it has been awhile.

LDBLOND: I had lunch at a Chinese restaurant and I thought of you, so, drank plenty of green tea to help digest
the food. I had beef and broccoli and felt like since it was lunch time, I might be able to “work it off” before
nightfall. (HA!) I will be very careful and have a light dinner.

Beth: What really, really good news.

Fruitloupe: Thank you for the encouragement. Yes, I am really thankful for the no-gain.

Deb: I hope that Eli is on the road to recovery now that they have named the problem.
Thanks for the warning and I am limiting myself to 6 of the little devils( SF Carb covered almonds) per day. I’m
sorry but I did not hear much of the raspberry for weight loss story. Does anyone else have the information? How
are you doing for your preparations for this weekend? You had quite the list early in the week.

Quilter: A special thanks to you for the warm welcome. I do have fun with PhotoShop but I wouldn’t consider
myself much of an artist. I have to say, I admire your ability with quilting. Years ago I did the piecing on a quilt
top but I have never gotten around to actually quilting it. Now, I am into trying my hand at knitting. I have been
making dishcloths but this December I started a sweater. I am ready to put it together and hope that it fits.

BigKnightsMom: So funny about the turtle pix. I am feeling the same way about my progress. Your cheesecake
recipe looks marvelous!

Red1: You said you were at a ten pound stall. That is where I am also and I know it has happened in part because
I have not been active enough. A nice walk will be a good start for me. I think in my case I need to get in a losing
state of mind rather than a maintaining.

Just got in from my walk, 4.5 miles in 47:47, times are getting longer the hotter and more humid it gets. I don't see where I will be doing much jogging soon.

Thought the scale as a bit better, but it's still down from yesterday-119.5. Was 119 when I woke up, and you think potty sessions would help, but it went to 119.5 and that's what I'm counting. Will weigh myself tomorrow and then 2 days of not weighing-or should I pack the scale?? LOL!

My Mom sent this to me, thought I'd pass it along...

" Passing the Torch"

Is there a magic cutoff period when offspring become accountable for their own actions? Is there a wonderful moment when parents can become detached spectators in the lives of their children and shrug, "It's their life," and feel nothing?

When I was in my twenties, I stood in a hospital corridor waiting for dotor to put a few stitches in my son's head. I asked, "When do you stop worrying?" A nurse said, "When they get out of the accident stage." My mother just smiled and said nothing.

When I was in my thirties, I sat on a little chair in a classroom and heard how one of my children talked incessantly, disrupted the class, and was headed for a career making license plates. As if to read my mind, a teacher said, "Don't worry. They all go through this stage, and then you can sit back, relax, and enjoy them." My mother listened and said nothing.

When I was in my forties, I spent a lifetime waiting for the phone to ring, the cars to come home, the front door to open. A friend said, "They're trying to find themselves. In a few years, you can stop worrying. They'll be adults."

By the time I was 50, I was sick and tired of being vulnerable, I was still worrying over my children, but there was a new wrinkle. There was nothing I could do about it. But I continued to anguish over their failures, be tormented by their frustrations and absorbed in their disappointments. My friends said that when my kids got married I could stop worrying and lead my own life. I wanted to believe that, but I was haunted by my mother's smile.

Can it be that parents are sentenced to a lifetime of worry? Is concern for one another handed down like a torch to blaze the trail of human frailties and the fears of the unknown? Is concern a curse? Or is it a virtue that elevates us to the highest form of life?

One of my children became quite irritable recently, saying to me, "Where were you? I've been calling for three days, and no one answered. I was worried." I smiled.

The torch has been passed.

ROSE, I have a crap load of stuff to do today-so many things to cram into the day, but I'll prevail and get it all accomplished! Thanks for post the recipes, look forward to seeing them when I get back. I haven't been able to find any info on the rasp. story yet, hope to though.

Okay, shower time and I'll be on my way-will check in later!!

It looks like it might be a pretty nice day here in Atlanta. The sunrise was gorgeous...the sky was all red and purple. I decided to take LDBlond's advice and stay off the scale. Funny, but I know I have told others this. Why can't I follow the good advice I dish out? I may wait until my next doctors visit to weigh again- that will be a week from Friday.

I am sitting here drinking green tea...I sure hope it helps. It is not my favorite, but it is not bad with a bit of agave in it to sweeten it.

Something funny happened yesterday. I was sitting talking to my daughter's fiance, telling him about the invitations we had ordered for the wedding. I thought to ask him how he spelled his middle name. My daughter insisted it was an odd spelling like some author's. Come to find out, she had it wrong, and I had to call the place up in Indiana we ordered from and get it changed! Can you imagine how embarrassing it would have been to have the groom's name spelled wrong on the invitations! I did not laugh about it until AFTER I hung up and it was all corrected!

RED1: Thanks for the encouragement. I am happy for any pound I lose, because it has been so hard to lose. I guess I am just impatient to see some progress. I have been dieting for so long... 4 years on Atkins, and now six weeks on SB, that it is discouraging. The lack of loss comes from thyroid problems and insulin resistance, so I should be thankful for the 16 I have lost on SB. I do exercise, and am trying to increase my treadmill time of 30 minutes 5 times a week to 45 minutes. One thing about the exercise is that you feel better, and are fitter whether you lose or not... I try and tell myself that a lot!

I hope all of you meeting in Orlando have a great time! I hope to make one of the gatherings. Do you have them often? I know I can't make the one in NC in October....

Well, it is a gloomy day here in Cinci...but not raining, yet. It is a great day because Survivor and CSI are on tonight!!!:) :) :D :) :)
What can I say, I have no life:dizzy:

Rose...
The butt machine is a workout thing from body by Jake. It works on your legs and butt. I have a hip one as well. I love it!!! It comes with a 10 day money back offer, but you have to follow a diet as well. I am very excited. I got home late from church last night and did not do it. It built it and then crashed. So today I will start.
Deb...
Congrats on the 19.5!!! I take it your all time low was 118. That is really awesome! And way to go with your running.

Well, gotta go and finish drinking my GREEN TEA.

Have a nice one ladies!

Kimmy:)

Hello everyone!

I have a cold coming on. I really dread it. I have asthma and when I get a cold it seems to linger from months. I'm going to start the vitamin C this morning. Maybe that will help to get rid of it.

I got on the scales this morning and I have lost another 1.5 pounds and am now down to 272.5. Finally, the scale is moving on the downward slope.

Hope everyone has a great day and hope you all have a great time at this weekends get together.

I CAN HARDLY WAIT! WE'RE GONNA HAVE SOME FUN!!

LAMAP I am sooooo sad that you are not going to make it! I wish your schedule would allow you to come to one of our gatherings. We have SOOOOO MUCH fun! It's like a family reunion when everyone gets together since we already all know each other from the board.

MISSY IN MS I'm originally from Starkville and TRISHALOO is a MISSISSIPPI STATE fan! I sure hope you're not in Oxford! I'm not pregnant, but we do have a couple of women who are and I'm sure when they get on to check in they'll be able to 'weigh in' on your questions. (pun intended) :s: Even though most of us aren't pregnant it's still a great place to be if you're on SB. I hope you'll stick around.

KIMMY I take a multi-vitamin, a B-supplement, Glucosomine/Chondritin supplement and, when needed, Vitamin C. For someone who hates taking pills, I sure do seem to take a lot of them!

SLOW LOSERS I noticed quite a few frustrated people this week and I wanted to address that. I've been there - In fact, I'm there almost every week! Our bodies respond differently and at different rates and some of us have beat up our bodies so bad with fad diets and whatnot that it's very difficult for the weight to come off. I've averaged .25 lbs. a WEEK if you spread my loss out over the whole year. Not encouraging information - I know. Please encourage yourself and pay attention to your body and continue to 'tweak' your habit patterns to find the right balance. I really go up and down, but when I'm losing it's because I'm doing everything exactly right.

I know that I have to eat PERFECTLY - no cheating - no over or under on the calories. If you're hungry all the time see if you're really eating enough calories and protein. (Debbie has a post in here somewhere that gives all that information) Look for ways to eat more food on the calories you get. I found several menus that are my allotment for calories and some days it's just too much for me - other days I seem to eat only a few things and I'm close to my limit. It's all in what we choose to spend our calories on. Exercise and water are very key factors to making this work - especially if your body is resistant like mine. I also eat all the time - every few hours, anyway - my boss thinks I'm ALWAYS eating! :o It might take a while to figure out what works for YOU, but, it's so worth it!

It's not Motivational Monday and I don't know if that was motivational at all or not, but I certainly hope so! There are so many success stories on our board here that I KNOW it can be done and it's most fun with this group of Gals and a guy! Hi Daramus!

 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!

Okay, I am back on the wagon and good to go. That slip up is done and overwith and I do not think I am any worse for wear. I am weighing in 2 lbs over my all time low but I am on Day 4 of TOM so I won't worry til I get rid of him!

Quilter- Thank you Quilter for the pep talk. That is what is so great about the support one can get from these boards. We have all *been there and done that* and know we can go on.

Debelli- You said: "I think it's also important to know why this may of happened to prevent it from happening again-what triggered this event and why did you react to it with non-SB legal foods?? What was going through your mind as you were having your feeding frenzy and how did it make you feel during and after. "
This happened because I gave into the temptation of all the junk food my parents brought with them. I saw it there, was hungry because I was out for a good portion of the day, was alone with it staring at me and calling my name!! There was no *event*, no emotional trauma, no response eating...I was just hungry, lazy, weak and tempted.
What went through my mind as I was scarfing back some of that chocolate was that it tasted good and since I already blew it, I was gonna get some more in me. Isn't that terrible? I can count the number of times I have cheated since starting Atkins nearly 5 months ago..of course I started SB nearly 1 month ago now. In those 5 months I have had 2 planned carb days to try and get off a stall and then this. This was an unplanned fall...so my first ever. That is why I am disappointed. I know I am stronger than that.
Oh well...life goes on like you both said. I have indeed learned a lesson and this experience just reinforced in my mind why I *don't* have to give in. It is not worth it.

My mom took me shopping two days ago and let me pick out some clothes as a treat. I haven't bought anything for myself in absolute ages. I got new slippers, 5 pairs of cute lace panties, a fitted black turtleneck and a new fitted skirt. I am a size 12 for sure, the 14's were way too big. I am aiming for size 10 though. I am wearing the skirt and turtleneck today and I look pretty darn good! :o There is my incentive. I am definitely BACK ON the wagon! YeeHaw!

No new recipes to share, but thinking about working on a bran/buckwheat muffin recipe this weekend. I’ll let you know how it comes out.

An important note about Green Tea, it’s in this month’s Prevention magazine. People who take blood thinners should NOT drink Green Tea. I’m not at home now so can’t type the article up for you, I’ll try to remember to do it when I get home tonight.

Hope that all who are going to the get-together have a WONDERFUL time!

Deb, I’ll be changing my toon, but I’m cautious – TOM is visiting and making me unsure of myself this month – irritable too. Can’t wait for the visit to be over! By the way, you asked about Nancy, I have not a clue. We talked via email once, and now I can’t get a peep out of her.

That’s all for today, I will give it my best shot to get on and type that article for you later.

Hiedie Ho All!!

This will be short!!!!!!!!! Last night, as I was going in the meeting hall, I went *** over teacup!!!! Got a good burn on my knee, hurt my hands, the left in particular. It hurts right up to my shoulder! Woke up very stiff and sore. Was afraid to drive to NH so called and cancelled. My right knee and hip hurt. I am typing one handed. The arthritis and carpal tunnel in that hand isn't helped by this!! Funny thing is I didn't think I went down that hard! Must be these old bones!!!! I am feeling better than this morning.

Take care, Shirley

Good Thursday to you all :)

Well, yesterday I blew it with my eating... I didn't cheat, I was totally OP, but good GAWSH at the legal carbs I ate... 240g!!! Granted 50 of them were FIBER, but LAWDY!! TOM is coming and I was eating EVERYTHING in the house! I did ok calorie wise, and stayed UNDER for my FATS. But sheesh... I was afraid I'd have to duct tape my mouth shut there for a while. I *did* make myself walk 1.5 miles last night to try and counteract some of that!! LOL!!!

Today at work, my boss said "I was down a pound this morning, so I celebrated by eating a Cadbury Egg." So much for my support person here..LOL!!!!!

The FIBER hit me last night... and this morning!! I had almost 100g in 2 days, and let me tell you... if I haven't lost a pound in the last 24 hours, I'll eat my socks. I'm only having a LITTLE fiber today!!

Has anyone tried that 'weightless' tea? It has raspberry and some other stuff in it... I like it, tastes really good. It's supposed to help 'clean you out' also, so I'm sure drinking a cup of that along with all that fiber... well, you can imagine!

I'm doing really well today. Had 1/2c. cereal for breakfast, a BIG salad with tuna and cheese on it for lunch... and I *think* I'm making shrimp tonight.

Well, myself and the children are doing better, but DH woke up with PINKEYE~!~! First time he's ever had it, and he's MISERABLE. I sent him to work with the drops and we'll see how he's feeling tonight. Our youngest has his first ACTUAL T-Ball practice where they are really gonna DO stuff tonight. I'm so excited, TBall was my favorite of all the years my 10 year old has played. They're so adorable with thier 'too-big' helmets, running with the bat still in their had, the WRONG way around the bases, and they laugh and LOVE every minute of it! It's gonna be a FUN spring/summer!!! The oldest is on his second year of Kid pitch... and he's a great outfielder, but we're hoping he'll get a few more HITS this year..LOL!!

Well I hope everyone is having a great Thursday... OH yeah, my mom and I were talking (I called her the minute I had tried on all those pants, 27 years old and I still love to hear mom tell me how proud she is... even tho she admitted a little ENVY!) and she said she's feeling close to being ready to join me on SB. She did it once before and got to a size 10, she's a 20 now... and she's so unhappy that way... but I told her... Of all the things I've tried, and all the times I said "I'll start Monday..." What had to happen was I woke up one morning, Looked in the mirror, and told that fat body that it was no longer welcome on my skinny soul. I was tired of it mooching my energy and self confidence off of me!! It wasn't a matter of motivation.. it was a matter of being MAD enough at wearing this body that I was GONNA do it, like it or not! She said she's starting to feel that anger in her, when she looks at her body too... and I'm sure it won't be long till I'll have another diet support buddy... and one I'll LOVE helping :)

Sorry I blabbed all dang afternoon... you gals are just so easy to type to..LOL! Have a wonderful afternoon :)

Hey All!

Have a few minutes to post before I continue doing what needs to get done before I leave tomorrow.

Weather sucks here today-rainy most of the day, hoping that it won't be the same way tomorrow. Still haven't made a final decision on what route I will take up to Orlando, will look the map over again this evening.

Made a double batch of the cheescake in a springform pan-hoping it tastes okay-had to bake it longer and not even sure if it's going to set in the middle. I guess I'll know in about 3 hours if it's going along with me tomorrow-keep your fingers crossed! It did crack on the top, definitely not as pretty as when I make it in the small pan.

Found an interesting site,FOODCOUNT.COM Many of you ask what a good source of fiber, or protein, or calcium is, among others. This site, on this page, if you bring down the window that says next to it CONTENT OF and there you will see a slew of options. Say you want to see what vegetables have the highest fiber content, you just leave it on VEGETABLES, then HIGHEST and then find FIBER next to content and it gives you a slew of options!!! CHECK IT OUT!! Just click on the link below:

http://www.foodcount.com/Index.cfm?Method=Diet.Planner

MONET, I know how you feel about dishing out advice but never heeding your own words. I wish I could listen to myself sometimes. Thank goodness you caught that mistake before it was too late, that wouldn't of looked good at all on the invitations. As for our SB MEETINGS, we met last Jan 5th and before that I've met a few times with others, including staying with NANCEMEISTER (who's been MIA/AOL) back in August in Calif. It's a blast to meet others!! I hope you do have the chance to meet other people in the future, even if it is just one person.

KIMMY, thanks for the congrats-appreciate it. Yes, 118 was my all time low, a real shocker:eek: I'm hoping to wallow in these numbers down below 120 for a bit, but I know that's not going to happen-just call me yo-yo girl!

SHEANN, CONGRATS! Boy, you are just dropping those pounds. Your patience is paying off. Hope you don't get sick, whatever is going around sure is nasty.

SOL, see you tomorrow night!!! :spin:

GRACIOUS, glad to hear you are back on track. I asked you those questions so you would be aware of what you were thinking and feeling. Many times people don't think about their actions and I think that's why they tend to have a relapse sometimes. I think if you THINK about what happened and realize what went on, it helps for the future. This was an experience and whether an experience is good or bad, it's what we learn from them that really matters. Don't be hard on yourself about it, doesn't change the past and does yourself no good-just learn from it and continue on the right path:) Now I will get off my soapbox!!! LOL!!! Good going on the clothes shopping with Mom. When I was 16 my Mother promised me $1,000 if I lost weight to buy clothes-stupid me should of had her put that in a CD until I was ready-I'd be pretty darned well off 24 years later!!!!

LDBLOND, look forward to seeing that muffin recipe. I guess I should send a APB out for NANCE-I haven't even seen her on the computer lately. Time for an e-mail, I guess!

SEF, WHAT are we going to do with you???? Geez Louise, it's enough I worry that you do too much when you are feeling good, now I have to worry about you and how you are feeling now. Did you read my post about the torch being passed today??? Thank goodness you didn't break a hip, or for that fact, any other bone in your body. I hope if you aren't feeling better by tomorrow you will consider going to the Dr. to make sure all is okay. I send you lots of {{{HUGS}}} and hope you feel better QUICKLY!!!!

BETH, you did NOT blow anything. If you've read my posts you will hear me say things like there are certain times of the month that I get ravenous and NOTHING I eat will satisfy me. I've easily eaten 3000 calories in one day and more carbs than you did. It's hormones my dear, wrecking havoc on our poor systems. Just remember, eat, as long as it's all SB LEGAL until you feel satisfied. Usually the next day you are back to normal. You can try adding more protein or some Brazil nuts and/or almonds to the day. Make sure you drink enough water. Hee, hee, that fiber kicked in finally, eh?? That would be great if your Mom joins you. My Mom tried a few times to start SB and fell off and under the wagon quickly. I'm sure yours will have better luck, at least I hope so:)

Well gals, that's it for me, for now. Will try to get on this evening if I can-after SURVIVOR, of course. Still have stuff to do, but not too much.

Have a great evening.

Ladies - I vowed to get onto the thread today, and look, it's 5:40 pm - I have to shove some food down the kids' throats and then take off for a meeting...

I am in serious dieting trouble. I had told DEB that my estrogen count was significantly screwed up - taking steps to rectify, but in the meantime, I'm 10 lbs up over where I was last May...(there I said it!!:o )

I have been job searching, doing 4 projects for $$, trying to get stuff done in the house, managing hockey (and soon, lacrosse) and so much more....and I simply have not been successful getting back OP. Start the day with great intentions, then get so busy I grab whatever's convenient.

I really need to be back on this site daily, but when I'm sitting at the computer I'm trying to work - just got a project booking 50 dinner meetings across the country - and they start in April. Plus 3 other projects. The house has no junk in it but somehow I manage to create some or in someway be exposed to it.

Needed to vent, now need to cook. I cannot even admit what's going to be on the table. So I won't.

Hi to all the oldies, welcome to all the newbies I noticed. DEB!! AARRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!

Thank goodness you did not hurt your self even worse. I know it doesn't help much, but it could have been worse. I hope you recover quickly!

Debbie....
No, No, No,....I am the yo-yo girl! I yo-yo about in a 20 pound range:( :( But I am a total emotional eater. I know my eating problem is 100% in my head. Even when I am "thin", like size 6-8, I still hate how I look. I grew up with a great mom, but she would always talk about how "fat" she was...she is 5'4" and weighed about 110 pounds...at her heaviest!!!! So I need to love how I am more than anything....and fit back into my clothes, which I am pretty close!!! Most of my clothes fit now...some a little too snug, some just right. I even fit into a pair of 6 slacks...but in the same maker, I wear a size 12 jeans. Size really does not matter.

Well....must fix dinner and get ready for
SURVIVOR and CSI!!!:dizzy: ;) :) :D

Friends, we had an absolutely beautiful day today. KimmyTK was right that this morning was overcast and gross looking. But it snapped out of it and was gorgeous. It was a no coats day here, which we LOVE. I had a jean jacket on in the car at nooon and was too warm. Wow, didn’t we just freeze our buns off with below zero windchills on Monday or was I hallucinating again????? Back me up on the one, KimmyTK.

Doing so SUPER WELL with my eating. I can hardly believe it. Just have to keep motivated and stay away from that “down in the dumps” area that makes me want to graze on everything in sight. I don’t know if I’ve lost anything in the past three days, but my diamond is feeling looser on my finger. There was a while when it was starting to feel so snug. Remember, SOL??? That’s one of the slaps in the face I needed to get kicking. I love my diamond and would hate the thought of not being able to wear it, because I can’t control myself. Let’s hear it for wrings that spin freely around your fingers!!!!!!!!

ROSE---Good luck with the knitting. I learned that years ago, but my tension was always off wack. Some parts loose and some parts extra tight. Not a pretty piece of work. I enjoy the quilting part better than the piecing part. The NOT FUN part is putting the layers together to get ready to quilt. I would gladly pay somebody to do that. The YWCA downtown has a gorgeous quilt show. I went today at lunch and was salivating all over myself. I am a beginner, and the people who made these are the true artists. Glad we have a love of crafts in common. FILLISE is another crafter.

SHEANN---I hope that cold does a U-turn and leaves you the heck alone. Hey, you know what helped me last week? Vicks VaporRub. Can you use that with your asthma? It really opened me up. I rubbed it on the front of my neck and then wrapped one of dh’s big handkerchiefs around to keep the heat it. I was warm and cozy all night.

SEF---Sorry to hear about your spill. What you DON’T need is another reason for your hands and body to hurt!!! That’s for sure. Are you going to go see the dr and have him check you out. Or are you sure everything isn’t too badly damaged. Get the name and number of the wise guy who gave you the big trip. Be careful and try to keep smiling.

BETH---Sounds like you set up residency in the bathroom! Wow, that fiber can be a dangerous thing at times. I’ve never heard of the tea you were talking about. Where did you get it? What’s the brand? I love regular raspberry ice tea.

DEB---I for one, don’t give a rat’s you-know-what if a cheesecake looks bad. It’s the taste that matters. I sure hope you choose to take your biggy-size version. There will be disappointed taste buds if you leave it at home. Hey, thanks for the link to the food counter sight. Paul and Iwere just talking at dinner about getting more protein into our diets without adding the fat. Can you imagine us having a conversation about that??? I was pretty blown away. He’s doing pretty well. Had a rocky start on Tuesday (caved for some cookies and a Coke), but I asked him how committed he was to this. Told him I’d enter all his FitDay information, but NOT if he was going to eat every cookie that passed by. I think he’s pretty serious now. Has been under the calorie cap both on Wednesday and today. Thanks for your help. Oh, and I’m doing well too. Must keep the spirit high and the attitude up there with it too. BTW, you are really into the skinny zone now. Anything below 120 is sacred ground to me!!! LOL!!!!!

VIV---I’ve got an email coming your way. I was so glad to see you on the board. You’ll get back on track. Just give yourself a little forgiveness and start back up. I know, I should talk. I’m Miss MAJORGAIN. But I really want to see us both be successful. Catch you on IM. {{{{HUGS}}}}}

Well, Survivor is on in about 20 minutes and we still have to clean out the garage and basement for the workers tomorrow. (Butt crack central, BOB! Looks like Paul is staying home to oversee the work, so I won’t be able to snap any pictures.) Better skeedaddle and move some junk. There’s not a lot of stuff down there, just need to make a clear path for them. I’ll bet it’s going to be filthy when they are done. They have to drill through the concrete walls. Yuck!!! Dust, dust and more dust!!!! Wish me luck.

I made a LEGAL dinner, and fed it to DH.... HE COULDN"T TELL!!!

I made pasta for the first time since starting SB!!!

It was WW pasta, Classico Tomato and Basil sauce, and some Marinated Shrimp with a touch of parmesan cheese!!! It was GREAT!!! It came out as follows:
1c pasta (yes the serving size on pkg is a whole CUP!!)
210 cal, 2g fat, 40g carb (5 fiber, 2sugar), 9g protein
1/2c sauce - 60 cal, 1g fat, 10g carb(2 fiber, 6sugar-natural kind)
2g protein
4oz shrimp - 100 cal, 4.5 fat, 2g carb(2sugar from marinade)
13g protein!!!

So that's a total for dinner of 370 calories, 7.5g fat, 52g carbs with 7 being fiber, and 24g of protein.... is that good?

I was so proud of myself... I didn't even eat the whole serving! I gave some of mine to my youngest son because he ate all his! I was so nervous that once I ate pasta again... I'd go overboard, but I didn't even want it all!! I feel comfortably full and I'm going for my walk in about 20 minutes.

The pasta was excellent by the way... it's a brand called DeBoles Organic Whole Wheat - ALL Natural, no preservatives or chemicals. Ingredients : 100% organically grown durum whole wheat flour and jerusalem artichoke. The flavor was excellent, and the texture when cooked 'al dente' was wonderful as well.

I think I have a winner!!

Hope you're all doing as well this evening :)

SEF: I am sorry to hear about your fall. That happened to me a few months back. I was not looking and tripped over one of those cement curb things in a parking lot. I felt pretty foolish, since it was right by a huge movie theater, where a movie had just let out and there were hundreds of people observing. I had to go to the doctor for thyroid tests, and asked him about it. I, like you, had aches all over, and my shoulders were so sore I could barely move. He told me it is like whiplash- from the jarring when you hit. Ibuprofen helps. So would a good massage, if you have a massage therapist you can go to.

Well, I am going to go and relax and read. I was pretty naughty tonight....hubby and I were alone for dinner, so we had fried oysters. I found them frozen ready to fry at Sam's. We love oysters, so I got some as a treat. I hope it does not set me back too much, but I think it was worth it! ;)

Have a good evening all!

I feel like I've been disconnected from all my e-friends lately, as life has just been sooooo busy. But that's the way things are sometimes. It's been one thing & another, haven't been able to post, much less able to read any of them. I'm so far behind that I wonder if you'll all forget about me! :(

I am managing to stay OP though. Holding at 135 the last couple of days, but between 135-137 most of the time which is not too bad. I'd rather be under & holding between 130-135, but in good time I guess. Well, anyway... I'm hanging on. Just really miss being part of the board. Gee, but it's busy!! WOW 9 pages & it's only Thursday!

I spent Tuesday with my youngest daughter, Jodi who is now 27! Gee, that makes me feel old! LOL She had a doctor's appt that I had to bring her for. Good news, though, because 2 of the things we were most worried about seem to be good. I'm so thankful to God for those good test results. Her pap smears have been positive for over a year now & they have been redoing them every 3 months. The one in Nov was negative & if this one is too, then they'll put her off for a year. We are really praying for another negative!

After her appt, we went to lunch & did some shopping. Found some really good buys at Stage. Jodi found this $80 dress on a 70% off sale rack, a size 8 which is almost too big, but they didn't have a 6, so I took it, then got another 20% off at the register cause I joined the over 50's club! Got that dress for under $20.00!!!! Forrest green, one of my favorite colors. Bought a few other things also...all on sale plus the 20% off each item. DH thought I did well. Whey! :D

Well, just wanted to pop in & say hello. I know that your big get-together is this week end, so all of you travelers, be careful on the road & enjoy!. Wish I could be there too.

Also noticed a lot of new names on the board. WELCOME ALL! Hope to get to know you'll soon as I can make my way back here on a regular basis.

When will I learn. I just hit the side bar and everything went bye bye.

Sooooo here we go again.

I just got back from Search and Rescue training. My DH and I belong to the local group. Alot of training and thing to learn. But it something that we can both do together and we enjoy it.

Idblond - Were is La Quinta? I live in the Mojave Desert about 180 miles from Los Angeles. Anywhere close to that? Also I had some green tea today. Pretty tasty!! I had a rude awaking this morning though. The rasberries that I have been using for my smoothie have SUGAR:mad: I guess it is back to the strawberries for awhile.

Melf - Don't ya just love those great deals. It makes shopping even more fun.

SEF - Sorry to hear about the fall. Hope you are doing fine. Take care.

viv - Sounds like you have alot on your plate. I hope that you find a job soon and everything can slow down. 50 dinner meetings? Are you a meeting planner? I enjoy doing that type of work. I am working on an event at the military base that I work at as we speak. Looks like there will be in access to 1000 attendees. Alot of work but It feels good when it is all over and everyone had fun.

To all who are going to Orlando - Have a GREAT time. I wish I could come along. Maybe sometime in the future. Who knows. Maybe you will want to come see the beautiful desert. The spring and fall are great. The sierra's are beautiful.

Have a great Friday.

HieDie Ho All!!!!

Thanx for the good wishes. My hand was like ham this morning, but some slices have been taken off so it is smaller!!! Altho I still can't get my pinky ring off. Knee is tender but moving much better.

I really don't feel like there was any terrible damage, just like someone said, a whiplash effect.

My friend called tonight, she has to go to Metaire so I'm going to ride with her. No walking or handshaking as I'm still one handed.

Just remember, my name is certainly NOT Grace!!!

Take care, sef

Hi all,
We celebrated my FIL’s 96th birthday last evening. I took the Fearn’s Spice cake (for me to have while others had
the official birthday cake) and some oven roasted veggie’s (thanks BOB) to add to the barbecue chicken and beef
that other family members brought. While I stayed on program, I feel like there was a lot of salt in the meat. This
weekend’s eating should be more controllable since I don’t think we have any plans to eat out. My FIL is doing
very well for his age..like an Energizer Bunny.

Next Tuesday and I am going to Natchitoches, LA. for a little ladies day out. I am not sure what there is to do
there. Anyone have any suggestions or stories to share about the town?

Kimmy, I taped the Survivor and CSI so I won’t miss anything

Deb: Loved the story about parent’s responsibility. Having gone though all the stages, I can really relate.
You are going to need a vacation, for sure, getting ready for the get away. I will be looking forward to pictures and
stories of the gathering.

Quilter: You and I might make a team. I could do the piecing and you could do the quilting. I guess, though, we
would need a third member to do the putting the layers together part. They have quilt shows here in Dallas which
I have attended. Some of the quilts are so fantastic. It is interesting to see that styles of stitching change over the
years. Congrats on your eating. The days we feel we are in control are the most empowering. I wish you luck with
your concrete drillers.

SEF: How terrible to take a tumble like that. I hope the aches from the fall are eased very soon. I noticed you are
from Slidell. I have a friend whose parents use to live there. I have been there also and remember it as being a
very nice place.

Melf: Good news then lunch and a shopping trip where you find great bargains must have made for a wonderful
day with your daughter.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Good Friday Morning Everyone:wave:

Up and ready to go get dressed to get in my jog this morning before I begin getting ready to go. Just have to prepare the quiche this morning, pack, get ready, get a few things to eat, load the car, pick up pita and I'm on the way to O-town:spin:

VIV, glad to see you on the board, just the fact that you are still with us shows that you are still committed to losing the weight. Sometimes people get overwhelmed with other things in life and this WOE may take a back seat for a while. I think it's maybe the uncertainty that's going on with you at this time, it will pass. Try to take some ME time for yourself. Being up 10lbs is not the end of the world and it's not hard to get that back under control and lost once and for all. PLUS, you have to take in to play you have some medical issues right now that may be causing a weight gain beyond your control. This is what you need to address and take care of first and then the weight loss second. You know we're always here to hear you vent-no matter what the subject of venting may be:)

KIMMY, I was an emotional eater all my life, that is, until I started SB. Not ONCE have I ever eaten out of emotions since I started. I truly believe it has something to do with the sugar. Once you totally detox from it, at least for me, the desire to eat emotionally were gone. That to me is more amazing than the weight loss. I use to eat stuff and not even realize I had eaten it-most times it wasn't even something I would eat when I was rational! I had a Grandmother who was my problem growing up-therapy helped get over that, and over her!!!

BOB, I ain't screwing this cheesecake up any more than it already is-y'all don't like the looks of it, don't eat it!! More for me-he, he, he:lol: It just looks ugly, but I hope it doesn't taste ugly:shrug: See you in a few!

QUILTER, glad to hear you are doing well. If PAUL has a lapse in judgement, just make sure you don't join him, it's easy to get pulled into that without realizing it. Remember, misery loves company. Stay focused and I'm sure when he sees you staying focused, he'll become even more focused as he will see you are committed, and determined and want to do the same (at least I hope and think).

BETH, dinner sounded good, glad to hear you really enjoyed it.

MONET, count me in too for being klutzy-jogging up onto the curb and just lost my footing and went flying, though I luckily "caught" myself before hitting the pavement I could feel that I must of looked like I was a clown tripping over my 2 left feet.

MELF, glad to see your post and knowing you are continuing to hold your ground-CONGRATS!!

RED1, I've hit many a key and lost posts, so I can totally sympathize with you! What kind of raspberries were you buying that would have sugar in them??? Hey, one never knows where we/I will end up, maybe on your doorstep. I was in PALM DESSERT with NANCE last August!

SEF, thanks for the update and letting us know you are still alive and kicking over there! PLEASE, take it easy for a few days. Yeah, I know it's like talking to the wall, you take it easy?:nono: Just don't push yourself too early, please:)

Okay gals I'm outta here. I will try to get on before I leave if time permits, but otherwise I'll be back on Monday morning as I will probably be getting home too late on Sunday night to post.

Please keep the board hopping this weekend, I love to see all the posts when I come back from any vacation. Any newbies that come along I'm sure you will make them feel welcome and right at home. Seems we have a new gal joining us, once again, a Floridian, in Carbolite country, up in Broward!!!!:D

Have a great weekend!

Hello. Have been away for a day and look at all I've missed!

Things with GM are getting significantly worse and I have been spending alot of time and energy focusing on that since Wed. It appears that she knows NOTHING about who people are and where she is. She has declined really rapidly in just a few days time. My mom called the doctor's office and they didn't even return her call! Then when she called the next day the nurst told my mom, "Well, he told you she had Alzheimer's didn't he? This is just part of her disease process." He told my parents she DID NOT have AD because at that time (2 weeks ago today) she was too oriented and alert! I don't think she has ADor even dementia. I think she is continuing to have TIA (transient isechmic accidents) or mini strokes because she is changing so rapidly. Needless to say my parents are in the process of finding a doc who gives a rat's *ss! My sis is going down there today and will let me know what she sees. My family is at the point now where they have some decisions to make. She can't stay at home anymore. She keeps asking my mom to take her home. Yesterday she spent all day trying to find her suitcase. She can't remember how to get from one room to the next, she thinks the men on the TV can see her undressing and waved at them. She acts like a person with schizophrenia. My mom has been a trouper but knows that she can't take care of her. She doesn't even get a quiet moment, including sleep.

Have two friends who have registered for the 1/2 marathon! We'll have quite a group down there!

Looks like I have an infection of some kind. My doc phoned in Cipro after the urine culture I gave, but never heard from his office. Will try to phone them first thing this a.m.

I hope all you Florida chicks have FUN FUN FUN! Wish I could be there!

Watched Survivor last night. Thought the should kicked the boob chick (Sara) off. Last night they showed JUST her chest in the frame at least 3 times! And she's not that cute! Then there is the real estate agent on the other team (Kathy). Think she's history the first chance they get! She's a bit too emotional for me.

Tonight is a BIG hockey game! Carolina Hurricanes v. Washington Capitols! We are going! Go CANES!!

Gotta do alot today, including the gym.

SOL - CONGRATS girl! Are you very, very pleased with yourself? You should be! The shot in your ankle sounds awful and I would never be willing to have that done! You're tough!

DEB - Thanks for the recipe! Will make some that today or tomorrow. You what I think about the scale, as do several others. But I know you are gonna do what you want, weigh everyday! Those numbers there aren't always your best measure of health and fitness, but you already know that!

BETH - Way to go on the jeans!

SEF - Sorry to hear about your fall! I hope you are feeling better soon!

VIV - Hang in there. You know what to do! Just do it!

QUILTER - "Don't do crack!"

MELF - Good to see your post. We miss you when you aren't here!

To everyone else... Hope you have a terrific weekend!

That's all for now!

Peace,
FROG

Ok, so maybe it wasn't a train. I can't believe they got rid of her and not that worthless Sarah! Last week I said I like shawn....this week I say NOT!!! What is up his bum? Oh well...good show though. I would have chucked, no doubt, eating that fish stuff! The smell alone would have done it for me. Patrisha said it smelled like fish baking in the sun for days.......EEEEWWWW:eek:

Kim is right...never know about the weather here! Yesterday started out gross and ended up really nice. Today is beautiful! I think maybe in the 70's:shrug: Then tomorrow who knows.

To everyone meeting this weekend.... Have a great time!!

Have a nice day!

Glad to see all the activity! The post is getting busier everyday.

Sef-I hope you are feeling better. I did nt find the post where you told about the fall, so I am not too sure what you did to yourself, but I hope that it heals quickly!

Beth-sounds like you are having a lot of fun learning new cooking ideas! Keep up the good work.

Wow! You miss one day and the board explodes!

Yesterday I was at the church in the morning and then had to drive to Montgomery for a fundraiser for one of my candidates. We went out for dinner afterwards and I had a crab meat augratin dish that was fabulous! There were no bread crumbs, just crabmeat and cheese. I don't even want to know about the fat content, but it was certainly low-GI!

People are starting to tell me that I look like I'm losing weight again. Yesterday I wore a pari of slacks for the first time. I bought them several months ago, but they seemed a little tight (they came with a jacket that was perfect). Last night they fit just right.

I was looking at my closet and realizing that once the weather gets warm I will have nothing to wear--not business clothes anyway. I have shorts and skorts, but I have one (that's it!) spring summer dress and one spring/summer pants suit. I guess I'm going to have to do some shopping soon.

SEF--sorry to hear about your accident! Be careful, please.

Frog--I'm with you on the TIAs. Alzheimers doesn't move that fast (from watchng two aunts, it might be more merciful if it did--this long slow illness is so agaonzing for everyone involved). I hope your mom can find a DR. that will help and will exhibit some compassion.

I hope all the FLA gals have a great time this weekend. We shall, of course, be anxious to hear details.

The rest of us will be bave and try to carry on this weekend without you.

It will be a victory celebration for his Basketball team. They really did have a good good season. He is driving now so he can take himself ....no need for me to go be bored.

Spring Break is the last week in this month. I hope this pretty weather we are having holds till then. We are planning a camping trip with my cousin and his family....he is more like a brother. Anwyay I am looking so forward to the time off.

Well I need to run for now....cya all later.....have a grea weekend...and remember I am lurking!!!!!

A quick post to let you know I'll be AWOL for the next several days.

IT'S SPRING BREAK AND I'M OUTA HERE!

Just heading east to visit my parents and EAT SOME CRAWFISH!

Rose: Natchitoches is a great little town. The Cane River runs through it. I haven't been in years: we mostly went for the Christmas Lights festival the first weekend in Dec. You probably know that's where they made Steel Magnolias. The Christmas Lights scenes were really filmed in the summer and those poor people had to dress in winter clothes! I'm going by the HFS today and see if they can order Sweet Cactus Farms agave and will let you know. The name of the store is Back to Basics.

FLA gals: have tons of fun. We TEXAS girls need to do something fun, too.

Take care everybody. I'm off to do errands and buy some pointe shoes for DD. She goes through a pair every 3 months!

HALLELUJAH! SPRING BREAK IS HERE!:D I am so ready for this. We celebrated James' bday last night. Brownies for everyone else, SF frozen yogurt for me. I use that angel lightly tho, cause I've been sooo bad lately. Time to recommit and get back OP seriously. The weather is getting better and I want to get out and walk. I have this notion that I won't lose any more weight till I start getting some exercise.:sheep: We're going out to eat tonight. Sarah is having a friend sleep over. They want catfish. They have baked fish too so I'll have that and the salad bar.

SEF: Hope you're OK. Be careful.

JRED: Have a good spring break.

Hope all you FLA gals havs a great time.

Hello!!! Well, Friday is just about over and it's been a super productive day. First of all the furnace thingy-jiggy switcheroo went so smoothly. But, BOB, sorry to say, not a butt crack in sight. Geesh, I just don't think these fix-it-types take any pride in their work anymore. I mean, how difficult is it to strap on a heavy tool belt and suffer the consequences. Then another workmen type came and installed new gas (not your type DEB) and electric meter. THEN I worked out in the yard and got a lot of plants cleaned up and cut back. The weather today has been gorgeous. We had all the windows open and it was great.

AND I'm proud to say that I'm under my calorie limit for today. That's FIVE days in a row! Yippee!!! Have to say though that I had a couple of belly ache situations over the past two days. I hope it's just that since I've stopped GORGING, it's just going to take my body a couple of weeks to adjust to it.

KAREN---I was just thinking about you yesterday and wondering how things in Wisconsin were going. Are you seeing ANY signs of spring yet??? I will try and fan some warm temps your way. If we could just get everybody in FL to fan some of their high temps, then we'd all be a bit warmer.

MUSIC---Way to go with resisting those brownies. I love brownies, and I know they are ultra hard to pass by. Good luck on getting back on track. I wasted at least 6 months giving myself "breaks" on goodies and justifying "just this once" eating and basically not doing what I should have been doing. Deb wrote me a couple of really great emails and what I got from that is this simple thought: Each day and each meal and each snack that I eat that's not on my program just keeps me from reaching my goal. I have this one pair of jeans that I really want to get back into. (Of course, I have two other pairs to get into between now and the ultimate goal jeans.) So I'm trying to keep those jeans in my forethoughts. Probably sounds crazy, but it's working for me. Anyways, all this is to say, you'll get back on track.

SOL---Hope you all are having a whooping and hollering good time!!! Think of all us while you are dining on all the delicacies. Hope you have so much fun. Give ROSALIE a big hug from me.

Okay, girls, that's it for me tonight. I have an early Saturday morning. I'm going to a Health and Wellness seminar. It's an all-day thing. I can't wait. I'm meeting one of my best friends there and we'll get to spend the day together. THEN I think dh and I are going out for a romantic evening at my favorite restaurant. Hey KIMMYTK have you and your hubby ever eaten downtown at Scotti's. It's a great italian restuarant. It's old, small and still family run. I always feel like I'm in NYC eating there. Plus it's really romantic. Oooolahlah.

Take care, everybody. Remember, let's keep talking this weekend, even though our leader is taking a few days off. We have to keep busy and keep encouraging each other.

Gosh, I miss spring break! No break for me until the primary in June!

I made lasagna tonight--it was delicious--worth all the work. I must admit that I didn't use the WW noodles because I had company over, but I did make sure I used 100% semolina--and I don't cook them before I bake the lasagna--so they don't get over done. As luck would have it, a good friend and his wife (one of my former and successful candidates) had their first child last night. Luckily, when I make sauce I make tons, so I will do either a lasagna or a baked ziti to take to the new mom this weekend.

I hope everything is going well in Orlando tonight. I shudder to think what the dungeon mistress is doing to BOB. She seems to have been pretty good lately, but that Deb may be just itchin to get someone in her torture chamber!

Have a good evening everyone!

Sweet dreams,
Susan

Hi everyone!!!

I haven't been getting to post like I used to here lately. Between doctors appts and dentist appts I've been on the road a lot lately. My little girl had dental surgery Tuesday this week so I've been taking care of her. She had 8 fillings and 8 caps done. They had to do this work in a surgical center otherwise they would have not gotten near her.:D Hope everyone has had a good day today. I've slept most of the day. I stay sleepy about every fourth day since I got to the 12th week of pregnancy. Otherwise I'm feeling great. I'm now at the 15th week of my pregnancy and already showing. :D

Missy in MS
I make out my menus about a week ahead of time at least I did when I started, now I have the WOE in my head so I only do them one day at a time now. I used the menus from the book as an example. I don't do anything different from the book. I use it as my guide in groc shopping and menu makeing. I have lost and gained a few lbs since I got preg. But I haven't did anything different just added a little more milk at the doctors suggestion. I sometimes didn't drink and milk for days. But I did eat cheese and other stuff made with milk. I use only the 2% milk. My doctor thinks this is a very healty WOE and says its great for the baby. I haven't been on any birth comtrol since the birth of my little girl and shes four. I had 2 misscarriages one when she was 11 1/2 months old and 3 months later another one. I was very overweight 265 at my highest and my body was very unhealthy so it couldn't support a pregnancy. I've been on Sugar Busters since July 1, 2001 and have lost 65 lbs. I have gained 5 of them back since I got pregnant but its from the baby growing. I have kept up with my eating plan and do not plan on eating any other way as this makes me feel so much better than I did. We didn't think I would ever get pregnant again but as soon as I hit the 59 lb weight lose mark I got pregnant. I will be 40 in a couple of weeks and do not feel it. I feel better now than when I was in my 30s. Good luck with your pregnancy and happy healty eating.

Hi everyone!

Well it's official. I have a terrible cold. That's why I'm up reading all the posts at 4:16 am. I have been taking Kim's suggestion and using lots of Vicks at night. It does help. I just hate not being able to breath through my nose:(

Hope all the gals will have a great time at their get together this weekend.

I made the spice cake that I bought at the HFS. I did not like it at all. There was a bitter after taste. Made it just as the directions said except instead of honey I used the agave.

Well, I'm gonna try to get back to bed. Have a great weekend

Good Morning Everyone

I haven't had a chance to post in a few days but I'm back - took awhile to catch up - we sure are a bunch of woman with things on our minds.

I can barely move this morning - every muscle is stiff and sore. Yesterday I decided to play Martha Stewart and prepare the back corner of our yard for a garden. I thought about renting a small tiller but figured it would be good exercise - I thought wrong. I love having a fresh garden. Usually DH makes it but with him gone I got the pleasure this year. Plus we just moved into this house so my garden plot is from scratch. I really want to start planting but am afraid we may get another cold spell - hows the weather everyone to my west - what are we going to get?

My DS is performing in a district music festival today - his first one. He's excited becuase he gets to go - usually his older sister does all the music stuff. I never played an instrument so I'm amazed when I go to there concerts. I wonder if my youngest will play something as well?

Sheann - hope you to feeling better real soon - I'm a Nyquil gal when I'm sick - knocks me out no matter what.

thunderwoman62 - I think its great that you are continuing SB with your doctors support while pregnant - what a healthy baby you will have. I think Deb hit the nail on the head that we need to start educating our kids if we are ever going to get to be a healthy country. Even my 7 year old looks at sugar grams on lables now (they are still eating everything but at least they are aware of it).

Quilter - we just had to replace our whole heating and AC system too - no butt cracks here either

music teach and j red - wish it were spring break here - we have to wait until the first week of April. They took one day away from us to make up for a snow day we had in January. Hope you enjoy your break!!

Fillise - congrats on the pants and especially on people noticing the weight loss!! My daughter told me the other day my face doesn't look round anymore - I'll take any compliment I can get ;)

Frog Lover - so sorry to hear about your GM - we are going through the same thing with my GF - and they docs are not much better either.

I'm gonna go for now - my arms are killing me (and my shouldes, and my neck, and my back) - the produce section in the grocery store is looking really good right now. Talk to you all later

The 2 pounds that I gained with TOM and my bad behaviour the other day are now officially gone! I am back at my all time low of 165 and am very happy about it. I altered my eating yesterday and cut back on my carbs...ate more Atkins than SB. I *needed* to lose those 2 pounds for my sanity! I will continue with the lower carbs for the rest of the weekend, it might give me a boost.

I hope the ladies in Orlando are having a great time!

Supposed to be a nice day today!

Hope all in Orlando are having a GREAT time!

Saw the scale move down yesterday! Hopefully it will stay there for next WIW. Haven't been able to eat too much without pain. A couple of days ago my toothbrush slipped and scraped the inside of my mouth--even water passing over the sore spot hurts! Gonna go look for something to put on it to try to lessen the pain. I really want to eat fruits (who'd have thought I'd be saying that!) but it's a little too painful

Went to a kid's birthday/skating party and resisted the pizza and chocolate cake! Yeah me!

Hope everyone is doing well. Hopefully I'll be able to read the board a little and respond later.

Quilter: Thank you for sharing Debbie’s words to you with us. I seem to need reminding over and over that I am
not paying close enough attention in order to reach my goal.

Sheann: You might check the expiration date on the top of the box of your spice cake mix. The first cake I had was
great but the next one had an old taste or aftertaste, like you described. The code is imbossed and is really hard to
see and is indeed in code. I have a box that says 1D06. That would be April 6, 2001 when it was made. I had one
box that was so bad that I called the manufacturer. It turns out that it was made in 1994 (and this was last fall.)
The consumer support person said that the product was good several years after the date but 1994 was not good.

JRed: Thank you for checking on the agave. I have not seen Sweet Cactus Flower brand around here..only
Cucumonga. It would be great to find something new.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Morning everyone!

I suppose that the Orlando gathering is underway as I type. For myself, I'm waiting until the ACC basketball tournament kicks off in an hour or so.

Thunder--Way to go on maintainging your healthy WOE through your pregnancy! I'm glad your Dr. is supportive!

Yellow and Sheanne, I bought some of the cake mix too--I tried the carob and didn't like the aftertaste. I threw most of it away. I have a box of the spice cake and will certainly look at the date before I bake it!

Zanne--Ick! Try some orabase (SP) I use that when I have a cnaker sore. It covers and deadens the area around the sore. Glyoxide is also good at promoting healing of mouth sores. I hope it gets better soon!

pooch--thanks! It's a great reinforcement to have people notice isn't it? Of course it is a double-edged sword. I'm still looking for the magic firming creme that will shrink the hanging neck skin that used to be my third chin!

Frog--who do you like in the tournament this weekend? I'm so excited that State will be in the NCAAs for the first time in years! Belle and I pull a chair right up to the TV to root on the Wolfpack!

Viv--It was good to hear from you--even if you have fallen off the wagon--I was right there a month ago. Just keep telling yourself how much better you feel when you are OP!

Have a good weekend everyone!

How are all of you this Saturday morning?

It's a rainy one here, and the boys' baseball practices have been cancelled. They've had a blast rollerblading and riding their scooters in the rain, though! Yes, I'm one of those weird parents that lets their kids play out in the rain when it's warm outside... they're also allowed to splash in the M-U-D!! They're inside drying off and watching some cartoons at the moment though, their toes were shriveled!! LOL!

Small brags first: Oldest son came home with THREE awards yesterday. He won a school-wide drawing contest. (He drew a race car), then he won SECOND PLACE in a poster contest for the Red Cross, and will attend an awards ceremony at the Mall in 2 weeks!! And... we have an arts festival here every year called PANOPLY, it encourages young and old alike to be creative with art, song, dance... anything having to do with the arts... and one of his drawings was chosen to be on display there this year!!! I'm so proud of him... he loves to draw, and he's very good at it for a 9 year old! He got 5 different kinds of ART sets from us for Christmas, and has a 45 gallon Tupperware Tub FULL of art supplies. I'll have to take a pic of my dining room wall one day and show you some samples. (Yes, I used my kids artwork as the art on the walls of my dining room!!) OK... enough bragging.

I guess the rain put me in a cleaning mood... I rearranged furniture, mopped the whole house 3 times (not because I'm ambitious, but because I can never get it UNSTICKY, even when I use 1/2 the amount of a no-rinse cleaner) and have cleaned my bathroom, done the kitchen, AND... I only have 4 loads of laundry left, which in this house is the equivalent of being caught up!! LOL!! I hope I burned some MAJOR calories, because I'm not doing my walk in this weather! Sorry!

I haven't eaten much today. I usually find I don't have much of an appetite on days when I'm more active. I had a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, and made some more granola while I had the oats out. But since the oatmeal, I've only had water so far today. I'm going to make a nice grilled chicken salad for lunch. Trying to keep the fat down, and trying to stick to only 1-2 starchy carbs a day. I think that was why I haven't lost any faster... I realized I was eating cereal/triscuits/oatmeal/biscotti.... well, all of those are starchy carbs... and I wasn't realizing that by the end of the day, I had 3-4 servings!! heck 2 biscotti is my 2 servings for the day, and I wasn't counting like that. Maybe now that I have the fat under control, and I taper off the starchy stuff... I'll go a little faster! I'm also cutting WAY back on my artifical sweetners. I do enjoy a FRESCA now and then (it's SF/CF) but other than that, I'm not using the splenda or anything in my tea or cooking... I only use agave. Speaking of which...
I forgot who was asking... but I buy SWEET CACTUS FARMS light agave, and my HFS' don't have any trouble getting it in. If you're having a really hard time, I can get it for 2.99 a bottle/ plus 10% off for buying a case. Shipping would probably kill ya, unless you are really desperate for it! LOL!! I have 2 cases, and will need more soon, because I use it as my only source of sweetner at home. ( I snuck it in my kids breakfast this morning, they LOVED IT!)

Hope some of you are getting sunshine... especially you O-TOWN gals! I'm off to finish some more laundry, and then it's SHOWER time... I'm starting to smell like the laundry that hasn't been washed yet!!!!!! :D

Hiedie Ho All!!!

To paraphrase the guy in "Hello Dolly", "Look everybody, I'm typing!" not with complete comfort or speed but I can do it!

Yesterday was an enjoyable day and an easy one. I was shown there is more to N.O. than Bourbon and Canal Streets. Because my knee is still sore we just drove all over the place, from Lake Ponchartrain to the Mississippi. We went to a seafood restaurant, where I had broiled, stuffed with crabmeat catfish. Before starting home we went to Cafe DuMonde and had coffee and (shhhhh, I hate to admit it) beignets. Soooooooo good!! We were home by 6.

Can't type long, just wanted to say to FROG: Push the doctors with your GM, this is happening to fast! There is probably an underlying reason and needs to be found!! Besides TIAs it could be medication buildup side effects, so many things.

Many doctors have the attitude you are old, so what can you expect. I hope when they reach the age of seniorhood they get the same treatment they give. ZILCH! JUST GIVE ME THE MEDICARE PAYMENT!

When I turned 65 I noticed a distinct change in attitude from the medical community. You have to search for someone who will listen!!

Take care, shirley

Hey girls!

I've been MIA for a couple of days - I think someone from this board coughed on me and got me sick! Who was it? HAHA! I guess since I had that reaction the other day - now I'm sick. So, haven't been doing much! Hope everyone is well!

SEF: Gosh girl - can't believe the fall. I fell once at Wal-Mart - so embarrassed! I went before school one morning - it was about 6:45 am. I was getting ready to walk in the doors when the front of my shoe caught onto a small "lip" of concrete cause I guess I didn't pick my foot up enough! Well, the only thing I could say to myself while I was falling was "Thank God it's early and there won't be anyone around to see this - boy was I wrong!" Before I knew it I was surrounded by people! All I wanted was a bag to put over my head! Glad you had a nice trip to the city - can't go to Cafe DuMonde and not have the beignets - they are the best!!!

BETH: I love to hear about children that draw. I do portrait drawing and I love it - it is so relaxing. At our school we have a gifted program for students that are gifted in art - do they have that at your son's school? If not - check into it.

JRED: Where do your parents live that you are able to get crawfish. You've got to be heading somewhere in my direction! Enjoy!

SHEANN: We must really be twins and don't know it. Like we said, we're around the same weight and basically want the same goal (my ultimate goal would be 150) and now we are both SICK! UGH! What is that?? Wierd huh?

Well, I've got company coming tonight - so I've got to get hopping!!

Hi Guys!
Back from my busy day - meet the gals in Orlando and it was great to meet them all! Hopefully now, I'll remember who everyone is and be able to put a face with a name!! OMG, there was sooooooooooo much food! We had chili cheese dip, some yummy zuchinni bread/muffins, cheesecake, nachos dip, apple crisp, cheese dip, rice pudding, legal chocolate treats, legal pretzels, cheesecake, spinach quiche, cheesecake. I was stuffed!!! Oh, and did I mention Debs cheesecake?

I didn't get to stay but a few hours, but it was long enough to get to know everyone and see what a great group of women this is. Sonya's husband Vince is a sweetheart!;)

Beth: Try using Armstrong Floor Cleaner. I don't get that sticky feeling when I use that. Now, that is the only thing I use on my floors.

Marie - Thank you so much for the Agave! I gave half the case to Anita so that she can make us some goodies. She is going to check in her area to see if she can get any, if not, I may have you get me another case and maybe we'll meet again!

Sol- I want to thank you and Vince again for your hospitatlity! I had a great time and so glad that I came. Some time we'll have to meet in Sanford and go to lunch or dinner! (legal of course). Do you ever go to the Melting Pot in Longwood?

BOB - It was so nice meeting you. You are just I had imagined except I thought you were a red head and didn't know you were from Kentucky!! I've been reading thru your packet of favorite things. I have made those cheese chips but do so in the microwave. I place them on a corning cake plate and nuke for 2 minutes. You have to pry it up quickly off the plate before it sets and then I sopp up grease on paper towel. My son loves them!

Rosalie - It was great meeting you. I wished I had gotten to talk to you more. I hope you trip goes well! Glad you didn't get in to too much biker traffic. It was a nightmare coming home. I had to take back roads the whole way because the Interstate was backed up and stopped!

Vesna- Glad I was able to meet you and put a face with the name. Hopefully we meet again soon since we're so close!

Deb: Last but not least (I hope I didn't leave anyone out!). It was truly a pleasure meeting you. I want to thank you for everything you brought me. I hope Anita will register on this site and join us. I have a new outlook! Tomorrow I am starting for real!!! I am going to plan my week and stick to it. Did you try those white chocolate bars? I am going to save all my legal treats for when I really need them. So I haven't sampled anything yet. I am going to work on my sugar habit first and then I'll start watching fat grams - but one thing at a time if I am to succeed! I have to get the sugar out of my system. dh is making bar-b-que chicken tomorrow and said he would make me some legal bar b que sauce witht he agave. Hope you all made it to the boat and whole foods! Thanks again for everything!

Well I think for now, I will go. Hope all of you that don't live in FL are able to make the October get together, it was so great meeting everyone!

Have a good night!

SLAP - I *DO* use the Armstrong floor cleaner. It's blue, no-wax floor and ceramic tile cleaner. I only used about 3 TBS, and it was STILL sticky. I just can't win!!

QUILTER - Yes we have had many signs of spring. Our biggest snowstorm of the season was last Friday and Sat. - had 8 inches. Its gone already. We had rain Thurs. night, Friday and today. It was 62 degrees two Sundays ago, snowstorm last weekend, and 55 degrees yesterday. Strange, strange weather. Hope you have avoided all the storms!

IT WAS A FABULOUS DAY YESTERDAY!!!

DEBBIE wanted one of us to post last night, but I see I wasn't the only one ready for bed when I got home! Talk about a FULL day!!

Friday night Vesna, Debbie, BOB and I enjoyed a quiet little dinner at Italianni's (as quiet as 4 SB gals can be! ) FROG I had a dirty martini with BOB and you're in for a treat! BOB and DEB took off to go shopping again after dinner, Vesna went home to cook the list of things DEB requested over dinner and I went home to finish cleaning and go to beddy-bye.

Saturday morning everyone started arriving at about the same time. It was estrogen city with all the women running around setting the table, fixin' things and huggin' necks. Vince manned the door and directed everyone to the kitchen.

SLAPHAPPY is not lying...there was SOOOOOOOO MUCH FOOD!!! VESNA commented that it felt a little odd to be getting together with your DIET buddies and GORGING yourself! Vince and I figure we have about a week's worth of lunches and a month's worth of breadsticks and snacks! We enjoyed some leftover quiche and SKLYINE CHILI spread for breakfast this morning.

The brunch started around 10:30 am and we talked, took pictures and ate non-stop until about 1:45 when we started cleaning and packing things up to head off to Winter Park. BOB passed out mini-cookbooks that she had prepared for everyone with her favorite recipes in it. It was so sweet and Vince and I have already picked out NOT A FEW of those to try! We tasted some cookies Deb and Sue brought for us to try and we critquied them as only women can. Yes, we took TONS of pictures - there must have been 5 cameras in the room and Vince oblighed us all by taking group pictures of all the gals with everyone's cameras. SLAPHAPPY and ANITA had to scoot back up north, but the rest of us gals booked it to Winter Park.

took the pontoon boat ride through the chain of lakes and learned about some of the rich and famous of Winter Park. One of the houses has peacocks that roam the property and our tour guide asked if anyone could whistle loudly to see if we could rouse the peacocks. Well, one of the guys on our boat whistled, but not too loud - no response. VESNA startled the whole boat with an ear piercing whistle and low and behold whistling started coming back from the shoreline. The driver gunned the boat and said we better get out of there as that was a mating call! We were proud one of our very own was able to attract such handsome males. :smug: BOB and I quickly discovered that we should have separated VESNA and DEBBIE - Those two together spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E!! It did give BOB the opportunity to practice her evil eye as they were talking while the tour guide was telling us cool stories. ;)

After the boat ride we scooted up to PARK AVENUE and hit the stores. Lemmee tell you, these women can shop!!! We all ended up at a store called the Doggie Door - a Sharper Image type place for dogs and it was awesome! VESNA and I will definitely be back to spend some moolah there.

THEN we drove down the road a piece to Whole Foods where everyone scattered in about 10 different directions and I think everyone bought something and most of us got at least 1 bar of chocolate. :o THEN BKM's Hubby, son, daughter and my Meister joined us for dinner at --------- OUTBACK! ------ are you surprised? (BTW, Big Knight's Momma is not lying about her son being one BIG KNIGHT!) He had to duck down to go through the door to my house and the door to the Outback. The waitress tried to take his plate at the restaurant and BKM's DH said to the waitress, "Have you seen the size of him? I wouldn't take his plate until he tells you to." He still had a bit of food on there, I couldn't believe she was trying to take it anyway, but it was funny.

By the time we finished dinner it was 9:30 and we'd all been together for almost 12 hours! It was a wonderful day!! I know I've said this before, but it's like seeing old cousins or dear friends that you haven't seen in a while - none of that 'get to know you' awkwardness you might expect. We all fit right in together and even ANITA seemed like she'd been around forever - she definitely has the sass we so enjoy on our board.

QUILTER I tried to steal a little can of SKYLINE CHILI from BOB that BKM had brought her, but she wouldn't let me have it! She kept muttering, "step away from the can! Put the can down and no one gets hurt!" You were definitely there in spirit as we all talked about how wonderful you are and how much BKM is going to love getting to see you in person when she's up that way.

FROG Girlfriend! You better get ready - I think everyone in Florida is going to be in NC in October and they are the rowdy bunch, you know! We also found TONS of FROG stuff, so next time you're here you're gonna have to bring LOTS of shopping bucks! I don't think any of us can look at a frog now without thinking of you! ;)

GOTTA RUN!!! - Off to the BORDER BREEDER'S HOUSE!!! I'm soooo excited! I hope we pass her tests and she deems us worthy of owning one and that they are as sweet and wonderful dogs in person as they seem to be from my research!

There's soooo much more to tell, but this will get you started! DEB, VESNA, BOB - still shopping! They were planning on the places to hit before they head home today. Did I tell you they can shop?!?

 Have a great day everyone!

Well, not much to say this morning - I was just checking in....see y'all later!

Good Morning and Happy Sunday to you all. I started SB a few weeks ago and wasn't ready but now I'm back. This is such a nice board and your posts are so inspiring. All of a sudden last Wed. night something clicked for me!? I started on SB and have been doing really well since then. I'm trying hard to learn this program and have a ton of questions but for right now just to post is a big deal for me. Its putting my feelings down in writing. And I'm finally getting control of my life. I'll just take each day as it comes and not think about how very far I have to go. Sorry to be so long winded. Anyways its good to be here.... Toni

Hello, Everybody!!!

The sun is shining, but it's a blowing like crazy. So much for a good hair day today. But I gave up on them a long time ago. Hey, so great to get the report from HAPPY and SOL. Sounds like you all had a wonderful time. That's so great. SOL, thanks for making me feel so good. You have such a way about you. And that VINCE is a number one doll. How cool that he sticks around and enjoys all the women. You guys are so funny. BKM, I am laughing so hard that there was a near skirmish over the can of skyline. Do I need to ship some down that way??? Let me know, guys. Wouldn't want that yummy taste to be the cause of SB fisticuffs. Ha!!! So happy for you all who met. Isn't it great to come face to face. KIMMYTK, are you ready to arrange a meeting? Let me know what you think. We don't have to spend 12 hours together. Ha! Just maybe get together for a quick meal or a cup of coffee or something. Just ask DEB and NARDA, I'm totally normal and even more so harmless.

Just have to share that I went to a fabulous health and wellness seminar yesterday. The woman who spoke is a certified nutritionist from Canada. Boy, her story was incredible. Her name is Martha Willmore and she is quite the testimony for taking care of your bodies. She suffered with lupus and leukemia more than 20 years ago while pregnant through both those diseases. The doctor told her when her son was 18 months old that she probably wouldn't be around for his 2nd birthday. Well, she made it to that birthday and now he's graduating from university and just got married. It was quite moving. But she knows so much about nutrition and how our bodies work. I took a ton of notes. The seminar went from 9-4 and it was a non-stop learning experience for me. BTW, just wanted to share that she spoke of the evil of sugar. Called it "the white poison." And also what white flour does to our bodies. There's some chemical thing it does that was new to me. I'll have to check my notes and see if I got that part down. I am going to order her manual, so I will have all the facts that she spoke of. It was something else.

TONI---Welcome to the group. You will be so glad you joined us. There are so fantastic people on this board who really care about your health and you getting to where you want to be. Keep in touch with us. I find that I benefit the most when I post at least once a day. Have you heard about the fitday.com site? check that out if you are interested in tracking your calories, carbs, proteins, fats, and nutrition.

VESNA---Why didn't you share your whistling talent with us? That's so funny thinking that you got some poor unsuspecting peacocks all hot and bothered. Poor fellows!!!

Well, I'd better go. DH and I are off to the grocery store then some other errands. I got on the scale this morning and haven't lost anything since Wednesday. This really surprises me, because I have really cut back on my eating. Guess who's being impatient. I'm not sure if I will weigh on Wednesday or not. Part of me wants to, but part of me doesn't want to do anything to discourage myself.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi everyone

Its another gorgeous day on the east coast.

Wow - it sounds like the Florida get together was a huge success - I was so bummed I couldn't be there. I will not miss the October one in NC :D Who else is going?

Toni - welcome to the board - I'm sure you will love it here and everyone is so great about making you feel right at home. Plus they all have such knowledge to share. I was reading a magazine the other day and it said people who loss weight and keep it off are ones who change their lives and minds plus have a support network to fall back on. We're glad to have you join us!!

Well my DD did great at her interview and is now working at Dairy Queen - heaven help me. She is so ecited and wants to save enough to get a car by the end of summer (thats when he dad comes back and she will not be able to use his anymore).

Went to the movies last night and saw The Count Of Monte Cristo - it was soooo good. I could go watch it all over again. I am a big mvie junkie - its my favorite place to go for a night. Next week I promised to take the kids to see Ice Age.

I need to go do some laundry - the joys of motherhood - talk to everyone later

hi girls,

just a quick not to confirm all that sonya wrote, IT WAS A VERY WONDERFUL DAY! everything she wrote was true, she should be a reporter, a very thorough and accurate commentary, GREAT JOB SONYA!

the day went by way too fast and we did all have a great time, any of you who live fairly close should really try to get together!
it is like getting together with old friends that you have not seen in a while, as i said the last time from cyberspace to face-to-face!

sonya and vince were the perfect hosts for a day of eating, talking ,photos, shopping and just enjoying spending time together. my daughter ( almost 10 years old) wants to be a sugarbuster so she can go to all the meetings too. she had a great time at dinner and wished she could have spent the whole day with us. i gently explained that this was my special time and we sometimes need to leave the kids home, i hope she understands!
you guys were great with her especially her new best friend vesna!

need to run and develop my film at walmart and fill up the fridge, the BIG KNIGHT is home for spring break. sonya was correct in her story about the waitress taking his plate, then he finishs my daughters dinner, we never have leftovers at our house!

everyone have a wonderful week!

Hi all,
It looks like a bright and sunny day in Dallas. Maybe that will encourage me to get outside and walk. I believe if
I put as much action into what I intended as I do thinking about it, I would be so much closer to my goal. I try in
my mind all the time. Luckily, I always stay on program with my eating. However, I eat more of the things I am
allowed and therefore, I am at a stand still. I am still having that major problem with wanting to eat in late
afternoon to dinner. I try to have controlled snacks but then I want to go on to more.

Beth: It sounds like you were triple ambitious with the cleaning. All that mopping, etc must burn a lot of calories.
Thanks for the offer on the Sweet Cactus Farms agave nectar but I think I will try to continue to find a lead here. I
did find something on the net about some home brewing shops that I am going to pursue.

Fillise: I, too, tried the carb cake mix and did not like it as much as the spice cake. I hope the date code on your
spice cake turns out to be okay. Quilter said you are interested in crafts. Which ones?

Deb: You are famous! When I was trying to find some information on agave, I searched Google and your name
and recipe for Crustless Cheesecake came up.

Sef: So good to hear about your improvement after the fall. I always enjoy your posts and would miss them if you
couldn’t type.

Slaphappy: Thanks for updating us on the goings on at “The Meeting”. It was fun to hear about people and the
food.

Solshine: Thank you also for the exciting report on the day. I could almost hear Vesna whistle. I have heard a lot
about the Skyline Chili. Is there a recipe somewhere for it?

Toni 48: Welcome. I have only been posting a week but have been on the program 1 1/2 years. You are smart to
get onto this board right away so you can receive the support of these great women. (and man.)

Hope this is a great day for everyone

Hi everyone- I feel like I've been off the board forever, it moves so fast these days. This has been an exhausting week-end and isn't quite over yet, but I wanted to sneak on to the computer for a few minutes.

The Forida contingent sure had a good time this week-end:D Boy, do I wish I lived closer- especially because it's going back into the teens tonite and has been so windy for the last few days I can't even walk or jog. Your feast(s) sounded great- what a treat to sit down with a bunch who all eat the same way and don't look at you cross-eyed when you try and explain about white flour and sugar. I got a good chuckle thinking of all those horny peacocks that Vesna startled into action!

Where is skyline chili from? It started showing up on the board a few weeks ago, and I'm still in the dark about it. I gather it's an Ohio thing? Can I get dd to send me some from COlumbus or is local to Cinci?

Last night I had my bfl "free meal" and had all sorts of non-SB food at a neighborhood progressive dinner wich ended with about 40 people at my house for dessert. It was only the third time since last July that I cheated on foods and each time I wonder WHY? I feel like something that washed up on the beach three days ago  and I wasn't even a:ink: . I really look forward to "flushing it all out" this week and staying SB legal!

Gotta go, hopefully next week won't be so crazy and I can address everyone. Welcome Toni, this really is a great place! Hope all you Florida gals make it home safe and sound.

a quick note to explain about skyline chili, it is yummy! in cincinnati many years ago a greek family started what is known as cincinnati chili. they have chili parlors all over town like we have mcdonalds and wendys. there is skyline chili and goldstar chili, the skyline being the best. it is a spicy but watery kind of chili with a distinct taste, it is served over spaghetti with a mound of shredded cheddar cheese and that is a 3-way, add onions or beans and you have a 4-way or 5-way. then you have the cheese coneys which is on a hotdog with cheese and or onions. when i was in college in cinti 30 years ago the skyline chili parlor was the place to go on a friday nite after the clubs closed. my husband probably had skyline in his bottle as a baby, he literally grew up on the stuff, it is addicting.
now in addition to the restaurants you can buy it in the can at krogers in cinti, or thankfully for my family here in florida you can buy it frozen at publix. of course being a sugarbuster now i am limited in the ways i can eat it, i make a legal dip with cream cheese , chili and cheese served with pita or triscuits or legal wheat breadsticks.there is no added sugar and as far as i can tell the ingredients in the chili are legal, there is a recipe that BOB has where you can make it from scratch, too much work for me.
kim and BOB will attest it is terrific! Meliris if you are coming to south florida there is a skyline chili in ft. lauderdale, lucky for you! i am jealous ! hope you like it , ENJOY! info from chris:)

Funny, I did not know till I came to this board that Skyline wasn't everywhere. I grew up in columbus and it was a great "after bar hopping at Mustards snack"....but as an adult, I like it as regular food too!

Man, the weather here has been weird. On Sat., it was so windy, it blew over our basketball hoop. We had no electricity for 6+hours. I was ready to go to a hotel. We went to go eat and came home to check...and the lights were back on. Thak goodness..saved 75 bucks. The problem was it was getting cold in our house. I had just started painting and boom!!! out went the lights, up woke the baby, and none with painting I was.

As for Scottis....no. I have not been there, but sounds good! My hubby is 100% Itallian and I am sure he would like it. He may have been there with his work...they get winned and dinned all the time:p Lucky him.

Take care all!!!

MEL---Well, BKM really did a great job with her description of Skyline. I think the key to their success is not just the taste, but the fact that everything is so FRESH. If we keep talking about it, I'll have to go eat some. Now when I drive by one, which means about every 5 minutes, I now think of you SugarBusters! I find that so funny.

BKM---I am loving that your daughter is drawn to us. So cute!!!! Makes me want to hug her neck. I'm so glad that you got to join in with the fun yesterday. Yea for YOU!!!

ROSE---I am so with you on the difficulties of limiting those legal food items. It is soooo hard. I can only think of one thing to suggest. Have you gone to FitDay.com and tried inputting your food into that. That's been helping me keep my calories down. It does take a lot of time, but if you do have that little bit of extra time, I'd encourage you to try it. Good luck, and don't beat yourself up. Just remember that each day is a new start and each meal for that matter.

Well, friends, I'm hoping that you all will have a tremendous week. I sure do hope that we all are successful with staying on program. Remember, each time we cheat, we're only setting ourself back further from our goals.

Take care.
Kim

To all MIA!

It was like a dream weekend with the best friends! Totally. And yes, everything that everyone wrote was true. Especially how Vince and Sonya generously opened their beautiful home to us. We were there from 10:30 until 2:15, and Vince is a genuine trooper, fitting quite nicely in our bustling group of sugar crazed ladies. Sonya's report is great! She has a computer for brains, that one. I could hardly follow all that was happening, let alone remember it later.

FOOD - Absolutely delicious! It is exactly true what the girls said. So great to spend time with people who understand that brown sugar is not o.k., and who don't cringe their noses at WWflour. Skyline chilli - YUM! Thanks BKM, now I'll be regular at Publix again. And it really goes well with that cream cheese. GOWD! What Sonya forgot to mention on her food list, was that she made a spectacular beef pot roast. I loved it! Had it with Narda's green beans with a bit of taco dip and skyline chilli. Yawl know about the deserts. I took some home for my MIA friend. Now I am thinking that it may not be too good for her to eat such sweet and dangerous things, and because we are good friends, I should perhaps sacrifice myself and eat it all. I know, I know. It is asking a lot from our friendship, but what can I say. I love that girl!

BOAT TRIP - I had no clue I had peacock sex appeal. And yes, Debbie and I are definitely trouble. Narda has a positively fantastic evil eye, so Debbie and I had to hide behind a Southern Cook Book to avoid it. Someone should have taken a picture of that look! I could definitely use it in my classroom.

SUNDAY - More shopping. Debbie, Narda and I met with my DBF at Sanford Flea World. Debbie can tell her impressions, I will just say it is BIG! We shopped until 1PM, and then the girls had to leave to go home. BUt I know I will see them soon! Ricky want to meet Skeeter, and what Ricky wants, Ricky gets.

WRAP UP - I really enjoyed meeting everybody. As far as the non SBs go: Anita is a trip and she fell right into the group. Big Night is GRANDE Night, a very polite and well mannered young man, and SARA, BKM's daughter, is ADORABLE! And so smart! Her father is also very charming and I have to say CHRIS has a very nice family. I hope Sarah stays in touch, she is a book worm, just like me!

MARIE - It was really nice meeting you. I would like to see more pictures of your family on the board, and also, Canada. Did you guys get to see it at EPCOT? I am looking forward to reading your impressions of the trip!

Have a grat day everyone and start planning for NC!

It sounds like everyone had a great time in Orlando this weekend! I'm going to have to check Kroger for Skyline chili.

I made a killer black bean soup on Saturday night--I'm posting the recipe on the recipe board. it is easy, delicious, good source of protein without a lot of fat.

YR--I do needlepoint, cross stitch, scrapbooking, i make wreaths--I'll try just about anything except painting. Are you a crafter?

OK off to bed
