100 lb. Club - Mother's Day Weight Loss Contest!!!
03-25-2008, 07:12 PM
So many of you have done INCREDIBLE with all the little contests we have been having. I told myself I wasn't going to start another "contest" since I haven't met my goal for the last two, but I was so inspired by all those who DID succeed, that I couldn't help myself but start this Mother's Day Contest!!
As before, just set your own goal for Mother's Day 2008! We can come here periodically and give an update as to how we are doing. Many times when I'm having a bad day or week, I usually find the help and encouragement I need to keep on keeping on when I read these little successes....so, don't refrain from posting your comments weekly or so - even if you "mess up." These little tidbits help us more than you may realize.
So, here's the newest contest - Mother's Day 2008 is exactly 6 weeks and 4 days away. That means we can all be down another 6 lbs (or more, depending on your personal goal and level of intensity)!! That will work for me for sure!
How about it? Anyone else want to join in on the little challenge and see what we can do in the next 6 1/2 weeks!? I look forward to my 3FC friends joining in the fun once again.
03-25-2008, 07:18 PM
I'm in! I am so glad you started this. I made a goal for Mother's Day myself...but the challenge is much more fun!
My goal - 15lbs.
03-25-2008, 07:36 PM
Oooh. I'm in. I did meet my Easter goal of 5 pounds and that was the first time I've ever met a goal in one of these challenges! I think I will go for 5 more pounds before Mother's Day!
Thanks for starting the thread!
03-25-2008, 07:39 PM
I just started on my 1st 10lbs (well... I'm down 40lbs, but I've been stuck so I'm now doing.... 10lbs x 6... lol) ....
I'm currently down 1.2lbs into my first 10lbs, so can I say I'd like to lose 8.8lbs by Mother's Day??? :)
03-25-2008, 07:45 PM
I am in for at least 6 lbs. I have ( luckily), met my last 2 goals so I KNOW I CAN DO THIS!!!!!! Thanks Ritzy Fritz for putting these challenges together!!!!
03-25-2008, 07:53 PM
I'm going to try for 15lbs!!!
03-25-2008, 07:58 PM
Well I have been losing at least 2 a week....with a couple of weeks at 1....so I will shoot for 8lbs by Mother's Day! Thanks for putting the challange out there!
03-25-2008, 08:12 PM
I think i'll aim to lose 10lb by mothers day! Thanks :D
03-25-2008, 08:31 PM
I am in on this too:
My goals -
plan and journal my food everyday
meditate at least 5 times a week
do movement and stretches 5 times a week
lose 5 pounds (I would really LOVE to lose 6 because it would put me in onederland - but, it's pretty slow going at this point)
03-25-2008, 09:24 PM
Okay, Ritzy. I've also not met my last two goals, but I'm gonna put myself out there again and shoot for 12 pounds. I need to remind myself that one of the reasons I'm doing this is to be healthy for my children. What a wonderful Mother's day gift this would be to both myself and my children.
03-25-2008, 10:05 PM
I'm so in! I'm glad that you started this challenge Ritzy Fritz! Even though I missed reaching my goal for the easter challenge by 1.5 lbs, I loved having the small goal to reach. I'm going to try for 12 lbs this time, but I would really love to lose 14 lbs to reach a 30 lb loss. We will see! :)
03-25-2008, 10:09 PM
I'm in! I just barely made my goal for the last challenge... but each one this year has helped me stay motivated and I so need that. I'm in for 12 by mother's day.
03-25-2008, 10:10 PM
I am in for this one too :)
I doubled my Easter goal and was very pleased
Mother's day will be VERY significant this year. We found out that my Mom has lung cancer just today.
ALSO, a Mom crisis is the reason I fell off the wagon the last time, because I wanted to focus all of my attention on helping her get a new home when a tree destroyed her house.
This time, I want to try my VERY HARDEST to focus on her, but also MYSELF at the same time. I need to focus on my health now more than ever, because I'm not going to have her for much longer, and she would want me to be as strong and healthy as I possibly can, as I move on through life without her.
I will set my goal at 6 pounds. 6 in 6...yep, sounds good!
03-25-2008, 10:14 PM
I'm in for 10lbs by Mothers Day. :)
03-25-2008, 10:29 PM
Mother's day will be VERY significant this year. We found out that my Mom has lung cancer just today.
Linda, I'm so sorry to hear this. My Mom's not with us anymore, so I'll dedicate my 12 pounds to your Mom!
03-25-2008, 10:44 PM
I'm in for 6! Thanks for setting it up!
03-25-2008, 11:19 PM
I guess I will jump in too. I also need to introduce myself at the
I guess I will aim for 6lbs, would put me at 269.:o
03-26-2008, 12:33 AM
I'm in! I will lose 10 pounds by mom's day...
03-26-2008, 12:35 AM
I am in for 6 in 6. That sounds doable but it took me 6 weeks to lose 4 pounds the last time.......
03-26-2008, 12:52 AM
Alright, six it is! Along with doing the weight machine 3x a week.
Good luck, ladies! We can do this!
03-26-2008, 01:27 AM
I'm in. I'm going to try for 12 lbs by mother's day. Starting at 239.5 lbs I really like the challenges. They are very motivating for me.
03-26-2008, 01:36 AM
I haven't done the past few challenges because I loused up the Thanksgiving one so badly. But, Ritzy, I'm glad you set this up because the Mother's Day is really special to me. Last year, Mother's Day landed on my birthday, and I decided that it was time for me to finally do something about this weight. It wasn't the first time I decided that, but I have stayed committed to it since then.
So - 15 pounds. It's ambitious, but I had really wanted to be down 100 pounds by the 1-year anniversary, but I'm thrilled to settle for 87!! (And I'm giving myself until the 14th!!!)
Linda - I'm so, so sorry to hear about your mother, especially because you two are so close.:hug::hug:
03-26-2008, 01:52 AM
I'm in for 12 too!
03-26-2008, 05:21 AM
AWESOME! I just love all the participation! You all are what make these little contests so fun and interesting! I know we are going to be reading some great success stories in the coming weeks. You all ROCK!!!!
I'm so very sorry to hear about your mother, Linda. I hope you both make some wonderful memories in the days ahead.
I'm in! I will lose 10 pounds by mom's day...
I just LOVE THIS!!! What a positive and affirmative attitude! I love it!
We can - and we WILL - do this, ladies (and gentlemen)!!! :carrot:
03-26-2008, 09:56 AM
I will be down 15 pounds by then!
03-26-2008, 10:03 AM
I'm in for 7 pounds by Mothers Day.
03-26-2008, 10:54 AM
I didn't do as well as I liked the last challenge. I'll try again with a goal of 10 pounds lost. I definitely need to push myself to track my food. I stopped doing it the beginning of March and I think that affected my loss. Plus I haven't been exercising as much as I should. Good luck and have fun everybody. :)
03-26-2008, 12:15 PM
Thanks again, Ritzy, for pulling these challenges together! It really helps me to stay focused.
I'm in for 10 lbs down by Mother's Day. I'm starting at 250 (one lb short of my Easter goal), so 240 by Mother's Day. I have a week long vacation to Europe at the end of April so I know I need to be extra diligent with my food.
03-26-2008, 12:54 PM
This is the first challenge on 3FC that I've done since I've come back to the boards, so I'm excited. I'm in for 15 pounds!
03-26-2008, 05:08 PM
I had already set myself my mini goal already earlier this week but I will join the challenge. I figured since there isn't any major holidays to play with my food plan, I can cruise right through.
good luck, everyone! Linda, I know how you feel. My mom found out she had advanced endometrical cancer and leukemia a week before Christmas. She is also diabetic. She had her first surgery on January 15th, had had numerous setbacks including 2 strokes and 2 heart attacks, and yet, today she is with us.
Every day is a blessing to have her with us as I am sure that is how you feel.
We can do it, chickies, hens and roosters too! :woohoo:
03-26-2008, 07:24 PM
AWESOME!! I'm looking forward to all the reports we will be getting over the coming weeks! :carrot: We are going to do it! :)
traci in training
03-26-2008, 09:09 PM
I'm in for 12. I've been stuck for a month, so maybe a short term goal will get my tush in gear! And my tush will be in a swimming suit soon, so it could use a good shrink!
03-28-2008, 01:20 PM
Hey everyone I am in on the mothersday challenge. I'm new here and diving in head first to all these challenges. My goal is 15 lbs by Mother's Day Id love to lose 20lbs but I wont set myself up for failure
03-28-2008, 02:46 PM
I have lost FOUR pounds! I don't expect this kind of loss consistently, but if my body wants to give it to me, I'll take it. I had been stuck at 169 for a while, and my weight loss tends to plummet, then stabilize (or even gain a little), then plummet again, so I'm just going to rejoice that it's chosen to go down for now. 165 was my high school weight. How cool to finally be back here! Eleven more pounds before Mother's Day!
03-28-2008, 02:50 PM
I think I need a challenge. 6 weeks...I think I'll shoot for being down to 320. That's a lofty goal of almost 16 lbs (from Today's weight) but I am a big gal and am just getting started, so it should be doable!
03-28-2008, 03:09 PM
I am down 2 lbs so far so 13lbs left to go
03-28-2008, 07:52 PM
My weigh day is Monday, but I hop on that scale every morning... was down 2 pounds today! I think I said 15, but I'm shooting for 16 (240) so looks like I have 14 to go yet!
03-29-2008, 02:39 AM
i'm in for 6 lbs!
03-29-2008, 09:55 AM
Yay.. those 2 pounds were still off this morning..doing the happy dance!
03-29-2008, 11:03 AM
I'm down 2.4 this week! woo hooo!
03-29-2008, 02:26 PM
I am down 2.2 this week!
03-31-2008, 12:02 AM
I'm at 237 lbs now. That's 2.5 lbs lost so far. :)
I'm in! I know we can do this!
03-31-2008, 08:48 AM
ok.. so today is weigh day... I'm down 3 this week, 13 to go.
03-31-2008, 02:25 PM
Can I join? I have been hanging around 3FC for a while but never posted in this section before.
My goal for Mothers Day is 7 lbs. That would put me at 210 lbs. I weigh in on Tues so I will let you guys know tomorrow how it goes.
04-01-2008, 12:32 PM
I'm down 1.5 this week. I'm off to a pretty good start. I'm going to keep it up!
04-01-2008, 01:04 PM
Down 1 lb this week, 6 more to go!
04-01-2008, 01:07 PM
I'm feeling pretty pleased this week with a two pound loss :)
04-01-2008, 05:43 PM
Down 2 pounds this week but not sure it will stick. I've been on this awful plateau since Feb. 12 and can't seem to break it. Hopefully, by adding more fiber, I can start losing again...
04-01-2008, 06:01 PM
Wahooo :cheer: Down 6 lbs 14 more to go!!!!
04-02-2008, 01:22 AM
I'm down 3 pounds, only 12 more to go! I'm also trying to get 600 minutes of exercise in this month, which I know is low goal, but I'm trying to start small and build myself up to more exercise. A month ago I was probably exercising 200 minutes a month, so any progress is a step in the right direction.
04-02-2008, 03:49 PM
WOW, WOW, WOW!!! :carrot: You are totally rocking this contest already!!! Way to go! For those who haven't seen the scale move downward yet, just hang in there!! I am still the same myself, but FINALLY my family moved out this week, and I'm looking forward to hitting this really hard and heavy now that I don't have to cook for Cox's army! ;) LOL!! We are going to be so much better off come Mother's Day 2008! I'm thrilled at all those who have joined and invite anyone else who maybe has been thinking about it to come on in!
04-04-2008, 04:17 AM
I'm still at 165. Could be worse. Could be better. Don't know whether I'll make my goal, but I refuse to be disappointed if I come in at 155 or even 160.
04-04-2008, 10:46 AM
I'm down 1.4 so far this week despite being on prednisone/ a steroid that makes people go crazy eating/gaining weight. It's a personal victory to use the drug and not end up with the 'moon face' that it gives.
04-04-2008, 10:37 PM
I am in for 15 lbs by Mother's Day. For a total 20 gone forever!
04-05-2008, 01:12 AM
Alright, so I was going strong last year for about two months, lost 20 pounds, then fell off the wagon. So I gained 10 back "cry" and back to this again. Going to try for 7 pounds by mothers day, My body takes awhile to get back into shape and I usually don't see a change on the scale for about 6 weeks, but change in my health and my clothes. So I am doing this again and hopefully it sticks reading the forums again. I feel more motivated going to kick it in to high gear, my goals
no junk food or soda just water 1-2liters a day
exercise 4 times a week one hour
eat 6 times a day small meals and up my fiber and lean protein intake
well here I come, 7 pounds lighter on mothers day!!
04-05-2008, 11:18 AM
Well, I had hoped to have some good news to post, but alas, I have no change from last week. I have been hovering between 249.5 - 250.5 for the past 16 days... and of course, 250.5 on my offical weigh-in days... ugh!
Oh well, I'm hanging in there and hopefully, the scale will budge soon.
04-05-2008, 03:32 PM
Looks like I am down 1.6lbs today. Not what I was hoping for. I feel kind of bloated so I will see if tomorrow morning shows a difference.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
UPDATE: I weighed this morning and I lost another lb. I am usually against weighing myself more than once a week, but I knew yesterday wasn't right. Total loss this week - 2.6.
04-07-2008, 10:23 AM
I haven't been around for a while, but I think I'm just gonna jump right back in and join this challenge. :D It's now five weeks until Mother's Day, so I'm gonna start slow and easy. I'm shooting for five pounds. I've not yet met a challenge goal that I've set for myself, so I'm really going to try for this one.
04-07-2008, 12:05 PM
I'm down 3.2 for the week. :)
traci in training
04-07-2008, 08:51 PM
Down a pound, eleven to go. Not moving the ticker for one pound - I'll move it three next week!
04-08-2008, 08:02 AM
Well, I am down 2...moving forward to Mother's Day. :)
04-08-2008, 02:53 PM
I stayed the same this week. :( I noticed that when I'm not as strict keeping up with counting my points I tend to slip a bit. My goal this week is to keep my point calculator on me at all times so I can keep up with counting my points.
04-08-2008, 10:43 PM
I lost 1.5 lbs this week. I wish that the 3FC tickers would do 1/2 lb increments.
04-08-2008, 10:51 PM
I am in for the Mother's Day Challenge. My personal goal will be 8 lbs, since I have only 4 weeks. (I got a late start).
04-09-2008, 03:37 PM
I lost 5lbs this week!!! almost to my Mother's day goal already!!! I may have to make it larger!!! LOL once I meet it I will add more to it depending how many weeks more I have till Mother's day!
04-13-2008, 01:16 PM
I'm down a pound... and headed out for a business trip this week so my goal for the week will be making smart food choices and exercising every day. Also aiming to always have a bottle of water with me.
How did our Saturday WI'ers do? I was beyond bloated yesterday... so I did WI today. back to Saturday next week!
04-13-2008, 02:09 PM
One more pound to go to meet my goal! I hope to drop a couple more than that, though, by Mother's Day!
04-13-2008, 02:48 PM
Valpal - I was bloated yesterday and weighed in today too. I don't think it made a difference though. My scale says I stayed the same.
I hate TOM and being sick. I didn't do anything differently except I wasn't able to exercise as much. Oh well...next week will be better! :D
04-14-2008, 04:51 PM
I'm late in the game - but I plan to lose 15lbs before mothers day so I will be down to 275lbs! My other goal is to run a mile with out stopping
04-14-2008, 05:11 PM
down 9 , 6 to go
04-15-2008, 09:33 AM
Down another 1.5 lbs! Only 9 more lbs to go!
04-15-2008, 12:22 PM
Down 1.5 lbs this week. We are all doing great!
04-17-2008, 10:07 AM
I made my goal of 15 pounds already :D I am making a new goal of losing 5 more pounds to bring it to 20 pounds!
Good luck to everyone!
04-17-2008, 10:21 AM
I'm down 7, 9 to go! I'm working hard to get there!
04-17-2008, 11:27 AM
I'm down 1.5. Not a great loss, but much better than gaining. Here's hoping I can keep this loss, as I have a habit of losing then gaining back...
04-18-2008, 02:50 PM
down 7 pounds total! :carrot::carrot:
04-19-2008, 12:25 PM
I'm down another pound this week... 8 to go. I can do it if I stick to plan!
only a month left! Keep up the great work everyone - we can rock this Mother's day challenge :broc: :carrot: :broc:
Great job everyone :carrot: I'm halfway there and know I can do this!
04-20-2008, 10:08 AM
I've made my six pound goal, and a bit more. I'm going to try for 10-12 pounds now--we still have a little time left!
04-20-2008, 11:59 AM
OKIE DOKIE....WELL BY MEMORIAL DAY I WILL BE 185
BUT MOTHERS DAY I WILL BE 190

04-20-2008, 04:28 PM
I lost .8lbs. this week. Better than staying the same like last week.
04-21-2008, 09:41 PM
I met my mother's day goal today and surpassed it by 2lbs!!! I'm thrilled since last week I had a 1lb gain!
04-21-2008, 09:51 PM
I am on schedule to meeting my goal!
04-22-2008, 09:39 AM
Down another 3 lbs!! Halfway to my Mother's Day goal!! :cheer2: I know I can do it!
04-22-2008, 11:23 AM
Well I am still at 223, the scale is not budging, for the last week, I feel a bit discouraged, I do not think I will make my goal of 219, possibly 220, we will see!!
I am still going to stay on plan because the scale will move if I stay OP
04-22-2008, 12:19 PM
Well, I was playing up and down on the scale.. 148 Sat, 146 Sunday.. hmmm that sounds nice... 150 on Monday, then today 146. Got to thinking and Friday and Sunday I ate a LOT of sodium.. duhhhh. So I'm down 3 this week... 10 down 6 to go! Come on 240!!!!
04-22-2008, 12:41 PM
I was down another 1.5 lbs this week. I am at 211.5 lbs. I have to lose 1.5 lbs more to reach my Mothers Day goal. I am so excited! We can do this.
04-24-2008, 10:58 PM
Everyone is doing so great!!
Well I saw 222.0 so hopefully by sat it will be 221, crossing my fingers and uping my exercise, I so want to be out of the 220 and start working on my next goal ONEDERLAND!!!!
04-25-2008, 09:52 AM
I lost another 3 pounds so I have 2 more left to go to hit my second goal :)
04-26-2008, 11:48 AM
I have been slacking. :( I've not gained anything, but I've not lost anything in about a month.
Back on the wagon as of RIGHT NOW. I can still make it if I stop slacking!!!!!!! (see sig)
04-26-2008, 01:55 PM
YAY!!! I lost 3lbs this week! Im very excited...since the last few I have only lost .8 or stayed the same!
I might make my goal this time!
04-26-2008, 04:52 PM
:woohoo: great work Kara! keep it up :) hopefully I'll join you with a 3 lb loss next week.... because I lost about .4 of a lb this week (but honestly am just happy it didnt turn into a gain).
I need to plan PLAN PLAN my meals. None of this last minute 'figure it out' crap! I'll be back next Saturday with a better loss.
04-29-2008, 09:48 AM
Well, I've lost 4 pounds so far. Maybe, by Mother's Day I can lose 2 more. (that would put me in Onederland) My actual goal is 5 lbs.- so, at least I am almost there.
04-29-2008, 11:13 AM
At weigh in this morning I surpassed my Mothers Day Goal of losing 7 lbs. I lost 3.5 lbs this week! I have decided to try and lose 5 lbs more by Mothers Day bringing my goal to 12 lbs.
04-29-2008, 11:32 AM
Down another 1.5!! I'm going to make my goal, I just know it!
04-29-2008, 12:14 PM
I finally got over my 2 month plateau -- I got rid of any white bread, am eating more protein, and started walking. I lost 4 pounds this week and only have to lose 1 more to make goal!!
05-03-2008, 12:50 PM
I only lost one pound this week despite doing pretty well -- but it generally takes my body 10 good on plan days to start showing real losses.
4 pounds to go for my for my Mother's Day goal. I'm going to get as close as I can!
05-03-2008, 01:16 PM
I hit my second goal of 20 pounds plus 4 more pounds.
Good luck to everyone
05-03-2008, 02:33 PM
I lost 1.2 lbs today! Not bad considering it's TOM.... :club:
Valpal - a pound is a pound! Good job!
Dandk- Great job!!
05-05-2008, 05:47 PM
Lost another 1.5 lbs! Only 3 lbs to go . . . I'm going to make my goal I just know it!

I have 3 lbs to go too! Time to kick it into super op drive and get it done. 7 more days!
05-06-2008, 02:07 PM
I lost 1/2 lb this week. Not much but it is still a loss and I will take it! I have 2.5 lbs to go to reach my second Mother's Day goal. Don't think I will get there but I will get close! Congrats on all the losses everyone. We are all doing fantastic!
05-07-2008, 12:02 PM
These were my goals for the Mother's Day Challenge:
My goals -

:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: How about everybody else -- Kara, Ritzy? Congrats to all the losers :broc:
05-09-2008, 06:32 PM
I made it! I had WI today. My goal was to lose 20 lbs and I accomplished 22.5 gone! I am very excited When is Fathers Day? Maybe I will do 10 or 15 for that!!
05-10-2008, 08:03 AM
WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You all TOTALLY ROCK!!!!
As HARD as it is for me to post this, I must tell you I have not lost ONE POUND! I did weigh this morning and was up a couple pounds, BUT I just started my monthly cycle and am a TERRIBLE water retainer (especially during this time) - so I feel I'm exactly where I was when this contest started. I want to cry, but I won't. I AM thankful that I have not gained; but, I'm getting really tired of being stuck here. It is no one's "fault" but my own, and I just have to adjust my eating plan to somehow get the weight loss going again. I AM going to get to goal if it takes 5 years! LOL! Of course, it won't take that long, but I am just that determined. My life is VERY crazy right now (schedule wise) and that is why I haven't posted here in so long. I feel that is also why I am not losing because I have lost my "complete focus" on my weight loss efforts. I'm still "aware" of it and try to always make good food choices, but I'm not 100% focused on it like I was all last year. So, I know what I have to do - now just doing it.
On the bright side, I'm SO VERY THRILLED at all the WONDERFUL success I'm seeing on here!!!! WOW!!!!! That in itself should be motivation enough for me to get back in gear! You all are doing WONDERFUL, and I'm so very happy and excited about your successes!!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU ALL!! If you are a mother, a special hug goes out to you because it takes a special "breed" to be a "mother." ANYONE can "birth" a child, but not everyone can "mother" a child. To those who are not mothers (either by choice or circumstances), I still hope you have a nice Mother's Day. After all, we all are here because of a mother, and I hope the day brings good times for you all.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!!!

YAY VAL!! I am glad you made your goal and congrats to everyone else that did!
I, unfortunately, am 3.4lbs short of my goal. I am not too upset about it and am glad to have over 10lbs lost since the start of this challenge. I look forward to the next!!
Happy Mother's Day everyone!!

Wow! Congratulations to everyone that made thier goals! A big high five to those that didn't make your goals but came close. We all did great. If you lost the weight and made your goal or not you are here and you are trying. That is fantastic!
I met my Mothers day goal. I have never had a ticker here that said Congratulations, you have met your goal. It is so exciting to see.
Good job, everyone!
