Hi! I have been on the Sugarbuster Diet for one month -- lost 5 lbs the first week and have been maintaining (not losing) ever since!! Will this turn around soon? :(

Also, after reading some of the posts, I will have to count my starchy carbs closer. I have been reading the book, but never saw that mentioned in the book.

Also, I enjoy a couple of pieces of the 70% chocolate every day as a treat -- any problem with this?

Thanks for all the GREAT info on this site !! :)

Good Morning Girls,

I have to say yay--Another pound gone. Even with the corend beef cheat. I finally feel like I have come out of my rutt. Glad I never gave up. Phew. Also being sick seems to help with the appitite. HA WHo knew.

Monet-Nice to see you!! Hope the appt went well..:)

Mari-First Welcome!!! You will find lots of support and help hints and stories here. Glad you found us. And 5 pounds is a great start!! Way to go.
To answer your questions Per my opinion. The 70% choc is legal, However It is a treat. Treats shouldn't be consumed every day. It has fat and calories and both are taken into consideration when loosing. If you were steadily loosing then it wouldn't be an issue. That might be your problem. I have so far hit 2 plateaus. The first one was 4 weeks after starting and the second one was 3 months. Both times I have come out of them and continued loosing. Frustration like you wouldn't believe..But keep with it. I had to cut out starchy carbs myself. That helped the first time. The second time was getting rid of "treats" I make the choc pudding myself (sugar free of course) and add blueberries. That bulks it up and adds volume and not many xtra calories. Its the fat free version because I like sweet after dinner. Good luck!!!

Everyone else..Have a great day!! Happy good Friday..If your off enjoy the time off!!

Happy Friday everyone! For those of you who celebrate Easter, Happy Good Friday! I have the best of both worlds because my husband is Catholic and I'm Greek Orthodox so I get this Easter and Greek Easter which is next month. My kids thought that was great when they were little.

Well, today is my off day and am I enjoying it!! Just sitting here sipping my second cup of coffee with no one calling my name.:D Food's been good since Tuesday, had too much to eat on Sun and Mon. I want to stay on plan because my daughter's 20th birthday is next Thursday and we're going into Manhattan to take her out to dinner on Friday night. She just called me to let me know that one of the kittens she adopted 2 months ago and was told was a boy turned out to be a girl when she went to pick it up this morning from being "neutered." She's decided to change his/her name from Cole to Chloe.

Have a wonderful Easter and I'll check back in next week.

Mari-:welcome3: Congratulations on your loss so far, that's wonderful. I have to second gym about the chocolate. I only eat it every once in a while. I usually crave it once a month;) LOL. Even though raisins are high in sugar, if you don't have diabetes I recommend eating those instead of non nutritive foods like candy. They really stop my sweet cravings and don't put weight on me.

Gym-You're turning into a losing machine.:D Keep up the great work, and Happy Easter!

Hope everyone had a great Easter. Ours was busy, 25 people and kids gets kind of crazy. Guys watched basketball and the ladies sat inthe kitchen. We had ham and corned beef.

we actually got some snow yesterday. It started as fluuries and got heavier. The yard was covered but not the street. Seemed so funny to be hunting eggs in the snow.

Toni, Hopeyou had a grat Easter. We had ham too. Guess it is tradition.

Monet, Hope you had a great Easter too. ope you come back soon, we miss your posts.

gym, congrats on your loss. Glad you are back on the move again.

Bob, hope you and Kate had a great Easter. Did you cook?

Chris, I don't t hink I could do 2 Easter's. This one wore me out.

Mari, :welcome: I agree on the chocolate. Cut back on it some and definately keep your starchy carbs to 2 a day. You can posts some menues and we will take a look at them.

Better get started, the desk is covered. Have a great day.

Morning!!!

Its the day after..Wish I could say I did great. I can't..Can't even say I got right on track today. Sugar is a drug and the more you have the more you want. Since I was sick I haven't been to the gym. The kids were late getting to school so I didn't even try for the gym. I met a friend for coffee and bagles. I can't even say I am upset with myself. It has been about 16 week so far for me, not one of those weeks has even been easy or with out obsticles. So this 2 shall pass.

I will admit It has been 5 days since I have worked out and although I love it, I am dreading class tomorrow. I think the reason I never take time off is because it its that much harder to go back, so it's easier to stay away. I enjoy the gym and yet here I am avoiding it.

This too shall pass...I hope. Hope everyone had a nice easter!! Have a great day!

Solly, we had ham as well!!

Hello everyone and good afternoon. I sure am glad Easter is over. We had ham, chicken & dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, broccoli/rice casserole, coconut cake, chocolate and strawberry pie, rolls and tea and deviled eggs. I had some of it all, but it was planned. Didn't bring any "to go" plates home. I did have to bring the coconut cake home since I made it, but I don't want any of it.

Tonight will be rotissere (sp) chicken from sprawl-mart along with potato salad for hubby. I'm gonna go by & see if they have any half-price Easter baskets and pick up a couple for the grands. They are moving back here from Okla City this weekend and I can't wait!

Weight this morning: same, no gain-no loss

Okay, this is lengthy but: my daughter went with me to get a dress for Easter Sunday at church. Now I usually just get the biggest size they have in what I am getting and take it home. I hate trying on clothes at the store.
Well since she was with me, I had to try it on. It was a size 22. Waaaay to big. She went and got a size 18! Oh it looked so much better since it fit. Imagine that! I got a dress size 18. To think I would have just worn the 22 anyway.

Sorry so long. Hope y'all have a good one.

Good morning,

Where is everyone?

We took a 40 minute walk last night and did not go to the gym. The dog had been penned up in my bedroom all day since the painters are there and I could not bring myself to put him back in there while I went to the gym so we just took him for a walk. I s hould have done som weights when I got home, but I didn't It will probably be walks for the next couple days until the painters are finished. The color is different (green) than I am used to. I like it, but will take a llittle getting used to. Eating is not good. Finished up the leftovers last night. So hopefully I will get back on track today.

Gym, I know what you mean about not going to the gym for awhile. I get built on on the weights and then have to start over at a lower wt. Plus I lose my endurance. I usually dread going, but am fine once I get there. Hang in there, you have done great so far.

Sparkle, congrats on the smaller size. That is the best feeling, more so than the scale I think. How wonderful to have your grandchildren moving back. I know you will enjoy them.

 to everyone else. Have a great day.

Howdy everyone. I was so lazy yesterday and didn't post. I had a planned cheat on Easter. I made a little potato salad with the ham and deveiled eggs. We're eating away on the leftover ham. And for breakfast/lunch Steve wants ham and eggs. Hopefully I'll get on the treadmill today in a bit.

Gym- Hope everything is okay with you and you're back at the gym.

Sparkle- Congrads on the smaller size. Thats so great.....

Solly-Wow your house is going to look so nice. Bet your doggie was happy he got a walk....

Off to cook for Steve...

Good morning ladies,

nothing going on with me. I overslept today. I don't know what's wrong withme I am so exhausted and when I wake up I feel drugged. I haven't had a sleeping pill since Sunday so I know it's not that. I didn't even get my walk in last night.

Toni, did you get on the :tread:? Send me some motivation.

Gym,. hope you are feeling better today.

Gosh where is everyone? Hope they check back soon.

Morning,

Well I am finally better after being sick for about a week and 1/2 on and off. The goodness, and thanks to all who wished me well!! :)

Uggh--Yesterday was day 1 back to the gym after 5 days off and no sugar after 2 huge sugar days. Lets just say Yuck. The gym was hard and I was shaky for a good chunk of the day. Never good. I did have some sugar free chocolate last night. I am way to into junk--but i need to get rid of sugar so the sugar free will do for right now.

I got on the scale..HAHA Im up 4 pounds. go figure. Im sure 2 is water but still..crazy. No more cheating until my birthday in JUNE.

Solly-Hope you wake up and weren't too late for work. I know what you mean about getting used to colors. Hopefully it will be all set soon. Change is always good. :) I need to start walking with thr kids along with going to the gym, fresh air is good for everyone.

Toni-Good luck with the treadmill. I think most of us here are in the same boat thanks to Easter and all the food. Lucikly I don't have left overs, but still the is candy everywhere. Not sure what is worse. Gr. Have a nice day.

Sparkle-Congrats on the no gain, sometimes thats as much of a confidence booster as loosing, espically if you were expecting to gain. Easter was tough all around. That is soo exciting with the size 18 dress, I love with something happens unexpectedly. YAY keep it up!! :)

Have a great day everyone!!

Sounds like everyone is glad Easter is over. Having all those sweets around is tough when trying to stay OP. I'll be in the same boat next month when I have Easter. I bought all my Easter stuff 50% off at Wal Mart yesterday. I hid all the candy away so I don't have to look at it.
I have Parker and Grace here this morning as well as my daughter,Gable who has a respiratory infection. Just wanted to check in and say hi.
Good news, I weighed in at 179 this morning! I can't believe I'm out of the 180's.

Hope the remainder of your week is good.:)

Morning everyone. Just having my coffee and playing on the computer. All is fine here. Got the floors done in the house yesterday. And no I didn't get on the treadmill as planned. We're still eating on our ham. I think tonight I'll make a ham and cheese quiche for dinner. I do a crustless one so its healthy. It will make a nice light dinner. I'm so lucky theres no Easter candy in the house. Now if the Grandkids were here that would be a different story. Lots to do in the house today. I planted lettuce and its up. Can't wait till its big enough to eat.

Solly- I kind of felt that way yesterday. Couldn't seem to wake up. In fact I fell back asleep in my recliner yesterday morning.

Gym- I hope you keep feeling better and take it easy till you get strong again.

Chris- Congrads on getting to 179. My gosh what a dream that is.

Well off to get some more coffee. Have a good day.

Are the wayward still welcome? *smile* It is me again. I got off plan for a bit and gained and gained. Then in Dec. my hubby and I both went on plan together. That is working very well and we both have dropped about 20 pounds. A few weeks ago I got the wonderful news that my cholesterol was too high so now I'm even more faithful with what I eat. I will do what it takes to not have to take medicine. I'm slowly getting back to exercising. The one thing missing was you guys, so here I am. ((Everybody))

Thanks everyone for the good feedback! Being a newbie, I'm not sure what all is included in starchy carbs. Can anyone give me a definition ??

A typical menu is:
Breakfast-1 cup oatmeal with a few walnuts and a few dried cranberries
OR I might have a slice of chunky whole wheat bread and
1 homemade skinny latte - SF syrup and skim milk
Snack - handful of peanuts Diet Coke
Lunch - salad with a drizzel of Lite dressing and chicken or a few veggies
OR whole wheat bun at Subway with turkey or ham and veggies
Snack - 2-3 cups of popcorn at work, Diet Coke or pop
Supper - meat on the grill, veggie of some sort, made curried brown rice
tonight (had about 1cup serving), water or diet pop
Snack - SF fudge bar, maybe a few peanuts, (I have been having 2 or 3 of
the little Dove dark chocolate pieces

Am I totally not legal with the plan. Thanks for any help!

Hey All my sugar buster buds..

I have 2 gym days under me, and Im going this am. I was nervous about ever getting back there. Phew. First I must drink the coffee and relax. HA

Eating is back to on plan, but not quite back to the smaller portions as the few weeks Where I was sick and loosing. Now I also have this awful sweet tooth at night. I can't even say I don't fight it. Both nights I have allowed it, one nite was sugar free Easter candy, last night was 85% choc lindt. I have to say that has an awful after taste. I wouldn't have eaten the 4 squares if I had slowed down to notice. How bad is that. LOL

marbrandt-A starchy carb are things like bread, oatmeal, sweet potato's, pasta, rice, whole wheat products. Basically bread products and starches. Since sugar busters does not allow corn or white potato's I didn't list them. I would highly suggest buying The Sugar busters Shoppers guide. That has a lot of quick information and I still refer to it if I am unsure. As far as your menu, Popcorn isn't legal, it's a high GI food and isn't allowed. Anything puffed is never good. Make sure the oatmeal is the natural, slow cooking type. Quick cooking oats and rice are high GI food that spike the blood sugar. Diet soda should be clear, but as long as they don't have added sugar they are ok, although consumed in moderation. 6-8 glasses of water is recommended every day so I find it tough to even drink soda with all the water. Hehe. Not all dark chocolate is "legal" it must be either 70% or 85% coco. I know this seems like a lot to follow. And It is up to you what you choose to abide by. I just know that when I am all "legal" I lose and when I cheat or have treats I do not. For me it is a struggle and a balance. If your wanting to lose weight then I suggest adding more protein, vegi, fruit and water throughout your day. Although peanuts are legal, they add fat so just be cautious of serving size. Most of all though remember your not going this alone, and non of us are perfect. It helps to at least know the "rules" persay so you know when your cheating. There is nothing worse then thinking your doing good and then finding out your not. I learned the hard way thanks to this lovely bored and books. Enjoy your day, and good luck.

Crystal-Welcome back. I didn't know you from before..But I hope to get to know you this time around. COngrats on the 20 pounds lost..:) that rocks.

Toni-Thank you and am just about 95% better. You are so lucky to not have Easter candy around. It is killing me. That and the crap my sister has around here. Once I start it's a drug. I can't wait to have a sugar free house. Can't eat what isn't there. Enjoy your day.

Chris-Awesome getting everything on sale--My suggestion for the candy. Throw it out..Haha don't even try it. Haha If only it were that easy. WHOO Congrats on getting out of the 80's. Thats amazing. Im working on the 70's right now. I feel stuck. We are just about the same weight. Maybe you can beet me out of the 70's...:)

Solly-Hope everything is going well with you this am. Are you getting used to the colors yet? Hope the walks are going well. It has actually been nice walking weather here--I should get my butt outside again. Enjoy your day!!

Everyone else..Hope you have a great day.

Chr grl-Where did you go, I miss reading your menus and your great successes. Hope all is well!!

Just got in from my morning meetings. We did manage to get a 2 mile walk in before it rained last night. It is pouring again today.

Crystal, :cheer:  I am so glad to see you back. 20 lbs is awesome girl. Give me some of that motivation. Stay with us you hear.

Toni, I'm surprised your lettuce hasn't foated away with all this rain and snow. Some days are just good for falling back to sleep in the recliner. Today is one for sure.

Gym., glad you are back in the swing of things. Fresh air seems to do lots of good things. Brightens your spirits too.

Chris, congrats on getting into the 170's. I'm jealous. Keep on going down.

Mari, the wheat bread at Subway is not legal. It is made with enriched flour which is a no-no. But probably not too bad in a pinch. Popcorn is ok occaisionly.

I have an upset stomach today. Didn't sleep much last night. I think I woke up at 2:30 and could not go back to sleep. Our painter is finished. So now comes the job of getting the room back in order. Don't think I am much up for it tonight. Maybe Saturday. Have a great day.

Good afternoon everyone. Just a fly by. Made a good crustless quiche last night for dinner. It was ham, cheese and green onion. Should have put some broccoli in it but forgot. Even Steve liked it. Think I'll have the leftovers for lunch.

Solly- I was shocked the lettuce hadn't washed away. Put must have been the old time tub I had it in. Need to go check on it today. I hope you get to feeling better soon. I'm glad your painting is over. Bet your dog is too.

Gym- Good for you two days back at the gym. I'm the same way about sugar. And if its the house I'll eat it.

marbrandt- Can't help but have one of those subways once in awhile. Keep up the good work. You'll get the hang of it soon.

Well off to have one more cup of coffee.

Hello everyone! I have been a busy busy bee lately! I have a kiln load of glazed pieces firing right now, and another load ready to glaze and fire. I got a few special orders that were hanging over me done and I generally feel much more optimistic then I did three or four weeks ago. AND, I have lost about four pounds this month without thinking about it...just eating when I was too hungry to work anymore.

I should be back totally in another few days. Can't wait to catch up with everyone!

Happy Friday,

Layed on the couch most of the night. I did muster enough energy to swiffer and mop my family room floor. Didn't get anything put back yet though.

Feeling better today. It comes and goes.

Monet, glad to hear from you. can't wait until you are back on a normal basis.

Toni, that quiche sounds good. I was going to make one for easter and decided against it. Now I want one.

Bob, I sure was hoping the Vols could pull it out last night. I only watch the first half.

If any one has a few prayers to spare, please say them for a dear friend of our who went through a bone marror transplant yesterday at Vandy. He has some rare disease and after months and months of waiting for a donor, they found a 23 year old that was a match. What a wonderful human being that person is. It will take 2 weeks for him to build up his own marrow. They need many prayers that all goes as well as the transplant went.

Have a great day and weekend.

Good Happy friday!!

Well I gained 4 pounds this week. It actually makes me laugh. At least If I know I did bad for 2 days and took off 5 days from the gym I will gain. I have 4 gym days under me so far this week, and 3 1/2 sugar free days. I wish I could say they were treat free days as well, alas I have "had" to use sugar free candy as my cruch to rid the body of all that sugar. It's just about gone so I will be fine next week. I have to say the 4 pound gain sucks but I enjoyed ever bite of it.

Solly-Good luck with getting the room bak together, although in my book you already the hard part. Cleaning sux but arainging is kinda fun. Hope you get better soon, and we have rain here too it stinks big time. I will keep your friend in my thoughts.

Money-its great to see you..And Hope all is going well. Glad the time off is doing you some good..:) Have a nice weekend.

Toni-I agree the quich sounds yummy. I really need to cook more. Have a great friday!!

Happy Friday everyone. I stayed up late with DH and so I slept in this morning. So I'm just having my morning coffee. Its windy and cold here this morning. Gone is our nice warm days. Made stir fry last night. But really its pretty boring around here.

Solly- Without a crust the quiche is so easy to make and so easy to heat back up if theres leftovers. I hope you feel better today. Its so lousy feeling bad.

Gym- You're a brave soul for getting on that scale. I've not stepped on mine in awhile. I've got to get more veggies in my eating.

Well guess I'll run....

Hi everyone! Thanks for the great feedback and setting me straight on what's legal.

Got one more question -- what's the deal about eating fruit 30 min before meal or 2 hrs after meal. Does it affect your weight loss? :?:

The quiche you were talking about sounds great. Can you post the recipe?

Have a great weekend everyone. Hope you all are having better weather than we are in South Dakota. Brrrr - spring just doesn't want to come.

Mar- I think it just helps to eat fruit like that to keep from getting an upset stomach. If you don't have trouble with that which I don't eat it whenever. This is how I made my quiche. 6 eggs, 3/4 cup of fat free half and half (I'm sure milk would probably work.) then I just add what I want like this time I put in about a cup of cheese, a cup of ham, and some green onions chopped and salt and pepper. You can really put in it what you want. Last time I put some baby spinach and cheese in it. I put it in a large sprayed with pam pie pan and bake at 350 for 20 to 25 min. Its so easy and good.

GOOD FRIDAY EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!!

WHEW!!! WHAT A WEEK~!!! Glad it's Friday and I can finally recline!

I've got your movie picks for the weekend:

THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE
BLUE STATE
THE GAME PLAN
NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN (CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THIS ONE!)

I've had a money sucking week!!! First, last Sunday, I turned on my TV here in the bedroom and there was a big straight line through the middle of the screen....Had to go buy a new one!~ THEN....got a letter from the IRS and it says I owe them over $2300 from my 2006 taxes....I went doen to the IRS office and talked to someone and when she looked at it, she knew exactly what I had done. I added something together instead of substracting. Miss keyed and the difference was a little over $600....since they didn't notify me until now, they tacked on penaltys and interest and brought the grand total to the above figure. No mercy...they say I owe it and have to pay it before the 15th or they will tack on some more interest and another penalty!
Someone at work told me to go and offer to settle. Can I do that? BARTER??.....with the IRS????? I'm livid at myself for doing this....WOE IS BOB!!!

JACKIE...Had the VOLS won, they would be playing NC and I know they couldn't beat them. They have had a wonderful season for the first time in many years. They are heart broken...I'm just sorry it was L'ville that did them in. HOW'S RUDY??? DId he get an EASTER BASKET????

MONET...Can't wait to have you back full time! Hope everything is going well on your end.

TONI...how's the river level? It's a good thing you live on a hill. Is it still raining?

MARI....WELCOME.... it's good to have you with us.

GYMRAT....sorry about the 4lbs, but you'll get them back off again. I've got faith in you!

CRYSTLE....IT'S SO GOOD TO SEE YOU!!! I've missed you bunches! What's new over at your house? Have you planted your onions and lettuce yet?
Now STAY PUT!!!!!

I'm off to fix some supper....

Evening everyone!

I unloaded the kiln. It was almost all awesome. There was one piece that fell far short of it...the glazed crawled. I redipped it and put it back in the kiln this afternoon. :crossed: Here's hoping it comes out ok, as it was a great piece I was excited about, and I will be disappointed if it is ruined.
I will post a few pictures when I take them.

While I was 'off' I finished up two special orders that had been hanging over me, gave a baby shower for a friend, and worked on my online shop. I took plenty of time for me, spent a lot of time with my grandson, and slept in a lot of mornings. :)

Dietwise, I did not think much about losing weight. I did think about eating well for my blood sugar issues, so I was rather surprised when I weighed in three weeks into my sabbatical and found I had lost four pounds! About three weeks ago, the doctor increased my thyroid meds, and I think that must have helped.

I am working on rearranging my studio space. I got a new replacement potter's wheel and I am anxious to get it set up and to try it out. It it throws nicely I can do porcelain and stoneware at the same time with out having to clean up the whole work area. I have a couple folks wanting private lessons too, so it will help with the bills!

I need to go back and read the posts and see what all is going on with you all. I was tickled to see CountryMom4Him back.... Crystal!

I still am not able to walk much. Everytime I do, my heel throbs for two or three days. Such a bummer. I need to go back to water aerobics. We will open the pool in a month or less, which will help!

So, it is good to be back with my friends here. :)

Howdy ya'll. I'm moving slow this morning but at least I'm moving..LOL Jessie and I have been working in the garden. I did too many squats while planting and my thighs went in to totally rebellion. I've been walking around like a little old lady. But the good news is that the weight training we did early in the year strengthened my back and it is fine. That alone makes me want to start back. We didn't do a lot with the weights but the little bit we did us a great pay off.

The best part of my weekend is tomorrow. My youngest son is getting baptized! He has wanted to for a long time. We recently found a really cool cowboy church and the kids just love it. Jessie is very active in his youth group and even opened in prayer. If you knew how shy he was you would know how cool that is...LOL

Bob...no onions or lettuce but I do have two kinds of green beans, crookneck squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes and cream peas planted. I still have two kinds of peas, the zuchini and the patty pan squash left to plant. As soon as I can squat long enough I'll finish. :) I was just going to bed when you got up this morning. I've never had kale does it cook up like other greens?

Monet...I hope you piece comes out wonderful after the second firing. Awesome on the weight loss. What happened to your heel? I hope it gets better soon.

Love and hugs,

A big HOWDY to everyone. Here I am again in rainland. LOL Like we need more. We'll be praying for this come July. I wanted to barbecue a pork tenderloin but I'll have to figure out something else.

Bob- What the heck are you doing up so early! But then again what was I thinking going to bed so late. We'll both be tired tonight. I am sooooo jealous of your wonderful meal. It sounds wonderful. Have a happy shopping day.

Monet- Oh boy I hope your piece turns out good. I've been watching your stuff on Etsy. They're so beautiful. It will be so nice to have you back.

Crystle- I love to hear about your garden. I have planted some lettuce but this year most my stuff will be in pots. I grew some nice tomatoes and bell pepper in them. How wonderful for your son. I bet you're proud as punch. Wish we had a Cowboy church here.

Well I have no idea what the day holds for me. So guess I'll drink more coffee and think about it.

O....M....G I ate a legal dinner tonight!! Chicken breast sauteed in onions, garlic and worchestershire sauce and a salad with ice water. I'm making green tea for the recliner. (you know, to drink while in the recliner) I think I'll take this moment to try another stretch of good eating and see how long I can go. Tomorrow I'll have oatmeal and an orange for breakfast and see what comes for lunch.

Okay, guys. Derek got the job with Rite Aid. At first, they wanted him in Maine, NH and VT, then he asked if there was anything in NY state and they said Erie, PA. Then, just as we were getting excited about moving to Erie, PA, they tell Derek they need him in Utica, NY, which is about an hour and a half away. He's going to just start the job and maybe get a room there for rent, like from a little old lady that wants to rent out a bedroom, and commute. He used to have Utica in his territory from Canandaigua to Vermont to Binghamton in his old job, anyway, so Utica is pretty close. Someday, we may move down there, but for now, we can just take a breather and be glad he got the job a WEEK BEFORE UNEMPLOYMENT RAN OUT!! Phew!! That was very close!!

The shop is going so-so. My rent combined with the electric bill last month was $629!! And my income was $630. Nothing left to pay the phone or insurance or my two credit card bills. April better pick up or I'm closing my doors!! February, I had $1,100 income!! I don't know what happened, other than a friend of mine came in to tell me she heard some old men talking about my shop and they said that since I'm not a licenced barber, I'm not licenced to cut MEN's hair. Rumors like that will put me right out of business and I don't know how to correct it without sounding like a whiner. I've been a licenced hairstylist for 25 years and if I weren't allowed to cut men's hair, then all the people that come in to Master Cuts or Penney's for haircuts are illegal. It's stupid, but what can I do? I hope the snowbirds migrate back up soon!!!

Okay...Hockey night in Canada is on and my tea is done steeping. Talk to you later!!

AFTERNOON EVERY BUDDY!!

My supper turned out WONDERFUL!!! I ended up cooking the london broil in the oven with onions, tators, and carrots. Did it in a slow oven and it melted in your mouth!

KRIS....why not put a sign in the window for all to see that says "MENS HAIRCUTS....ALL ARE WELCOME!!!" Your business ought to pick up because they are leaving here in DROVES!! I heard on the news the other day that I-75 in Atlanta was so bogged down that they were telling the locals to stay off of it. They said it was all the Spring breakers and Snowbirds heading home. Fingers and toes crossed for a windfall!!!

CRYSTLE...What king of beans do you plant? My favorite are "white half runners" which we can't even get down here! As for the kale...yes, it cooks down just like any other greens. I just prefer the taste over the rest.

TONI...So, what did you decide to cook? Is it still raining?

I'm off to do some laundry. I did the bulk of it yesterday so I only have about one good load left to do.

Happy Sunday everyone,

I have done a total of nothing today--Its already 230. GO me.

My eating is horrendous so i wont even bother to waste space writing about it. I just hope its a small phase or TOM soon. I can say I did make it to the gym 4 days and yesterday i walked a total of 5 miles. I didn't really mean to walk that far but I just kept thinking I was going to end up somewhere different. When driving the roads seem much closer, so finally I had to turn around. I clocked it with my car later than day. My route one was was 2.4 miles, and of course I had to turn around and walk back. It was also freezing. Not the smartest thing I have ever done. HA

BOB-That dinner sounds so yummy. I have laundry to do..But I am not in the mood. Thank gosh for having lots of clothes.

Tech-Wow that sucks. What if you raised your price a bit? My hair dresser just went up and its a small shop. She still pretty cheap compared to the big salon and because of that still has a decent following even with her increased price.

Toni-I hope the weather is better today--Rain is the worst. I am hoping for warmer days myself.

Crystal-Your sweet. I wish I had as much energy sometimes as I appear. LOL. Hope the baptism went well. Congrats to your son.

Monet-Awesome to hear from you. Congrats on the 4 pounds. I loved water aerobics, my old gym used to offer it. So much fun. Hope your heal stops giving you trouble.

Uggh Im such a slug today...Thank god I don't have many days off. I am counter productive when i have too much time off. Maybe I'll make more Coffee. Have a good one everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm glad the weekend is over. Just too much time to get into bad stuff on my eating.

Got some more legal groceries today so am going to try some new recipes.

I exercised Friday for the first time since starting Sugarbusters. Walking with a friend makes it half way bearable. I hate exercise, but know I've got to change.

Thanks for all the good support on this site.

Have a great week everyone!

Morning! I am about to suit up and head out to water aerobics. Why is it so hard to do? I used to love it, but I am really struggling here.

The weekend was really busy...I will be back later to tell you all about it! :)

Let's make this a GREAT week!

Happy Monday,

Weekends go so fast, I need one more day just to sleep in and relax. Saturday I cleaned all morning and go our family room back in order. Then we shopped for new towels, rugs, etc for the bathroom.Yesterday after church we started stripping the wallpaper in the dining room. Luckily it came off so much easier than the bedroom. I had it all off and walls washed and ready to pain in 2 hours. we were done around 4:30. I headed to the grocery and came home and ate a roast I had cooking all day. I think we sat down around 8:00. I was in bed by 10:00.

It is raining again today. I am so ready for sunshine and warm weather. I guess it will come one day.

Country, I am so happy for your son. I know you are. It is so important tht children find a church that they can relate too. It makes such a big difference. Unfortuanley, we are not close in wt due to your awesome loss. I need to get my act together. Maybe you will be my inspiration.

Toni, would you please send me some sunshine? I'm at a loss for breakfast ideas so I may try your quiche.

Mari, I'm not a big egg eater either, but a quiche is good. Walking and talking with a friend sure makes it go faster. Good for you.

Bob, that sucks about the IRS, but you can possible get them to waive the interest. We have encounterd some situations here at work and if you plead your case they ususally will waive the interest. It's worth a shot anyway.

Tech, I'm with Bob, put a sign in the window and run a special on men's cuts for a week or so. Do anythignt o get those silly men in there. Congrats on Derrick's job. I hope things pick up there soon.

Gym., that was some walk. I hope you weren't lost. I'm with you, too many days off leads to bad things. I am a creature of routine.

Thanks for all the good thoughts for my friend. It had a bad weekend, a temp of 105. They say it is normal, but it's hard to accept that. They have been through so much and they are so far from home.

Better get started. We have 2 jobs bidding on Wed and I have tons to do on it. Have a great day!

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!!!

I'm up and raring to go....I find that if I don't get up fairly early the day before I work, I just don't want to get up when the time comes!

It's a beautiful day here on the West Coast of FLA, the humidity is almost nil and that's just how I like it!
Something strange happened last night....my Neighbor knocked on my door and said that they had heard a ruckus, looked out their window and a group of young guys...(maybe junior high age) were out in the street in front of our house and one of them had put a bicycle behind my car. They were afraid I wouldn't see it and back over it. We looked around, but none of them were still around so we put the bike on the curb. My guess, it's probably stolen...it's still there this morning. I don't know whether to call the police or not. WHAT WOULD YOU DO???? Why they put it in my driveway is beyond me..

I have to go down to the DMV and get my sticker for my tag today, but that's just about it for me. I've got all the laundry done, but I'm sure if I looked, I could find something to do.

MONET...Hope you have a good workout...I know you'll be glad for TOM to get your pool ready and open.

GYM...We won't even go into my horrendous eating....we had WENDY'S last night, and even though it tasted really good, it wasn't the smartest choice to make!

MARI....I don't think I welcomed you to our little corner of the cyber world. We're glad to have you with us. I hate exercise too, but walking is my choice. In fact, a friend of mine and myself are going to start walking the YMCA track. I just hope she doesn't want to go too early!

KRIS...I'm so happy that Derek got the job...and also that it's closer to home...Something will work out....I've been thinking...why not advertise one of those (for men) get 5 cuts get one free kind of things...

Well GIRLFRIENDS....I'm off to the DMV...hope there isn't a line!

Ok, I am back from water aerobics. It has been probably 6 to 8 weeks since I went. I am probably going to be sore tomorrow! I am drinking lots of water...

We had our Cherry Blossom Festival this weekend up at our daughter and son in laws, since they have a Yoshino Cherry tree. We eat sushi, drink sake and sit under the cherry tree and admire the blossoms. I don't drink the sake...the rest do. I am usually the designated driver. The rest of them...six to be exact...drank FIVE bottles of sake! My son in law, the ex chef, made brown rice sushi and it was awesome! He taught my other son in law how to make the rolls too. I know, and my daughters and I used to make all the sushi for the party, but we have been buying it lately. The homemade stuff was great! He had temaki(tuna) rolls, California rolls, eel rolls...I am not big on the raw fish, but I love the California rolls. I tried not to eat TOO many...and filled up on miso soup and salad. It as too cold to stay outside long, so we moved back inside and chatted for a while before we came home. They live 45 minutes away, so we did not get in until fairly late, and just about went straight to bed.

Here is a picture of my latest work. I LOVE this new glaze, and am probably over using it a good bit! :)

Good morning Sugar Busters:carrot: Here we are on Monday. Yippee the week end is over and its a new week. I still fight the fight on the week end. Next week end I swear I'm going to plan better. I did do pretty good yesterday. We had taco soup for dinner. I had one bowl and it was just a regular serving. Today I've got Steve a corned beef in the crockpot for dinner but I'm having something different. He just wanted a corned beef so he could have sandwiches this week. My dinner will be something with a sweet potato as I have lots of them.

Monet- Your week end sounds wonderful. How fun to have your own cherry blossom festival. I've never had sushi but don't think I would like the fish ones either. Your vase is wonderful, I love that glaze. Thats so great you went to water work out, what a way to start the week. Hope it gets more enjoyable for you. I know you used to love it.

Bob- Those bounceing balls almost made me dizzy. But what a happy post. Made me smile first thing when I got up. We're getting such awful weather here I'm in envy at your weather. Lucky you a good place to walk and a friend to walk with. I've got to get on that treadmill.... Maybe today is a good day to start....

Solly- Dang I can't send ya sunshine from here. We're having tornado warnings, along with hail and rain. A horrible storm is coming and theres lots of flooding here. The ground is full of water here so it can't take anymore. So hold on the your seat......

Mari- Hooray for you in exerciseing. All you ladies are making me ashamed I haven't done anything.

Gym- Get ahold of yourself today is a new day. We can do this girlfriend.......

Tech- Oh I'm so glad Derek got the job. I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing.

Going to watch the tv and see where the tornados are.....

I normally dread weigh in Mondays but I have a loss this week so I'm happy. :) Down five pounds this week to 169. I even got in a pair of pants I hadn't gotten in to in ages. Several months ago I threw away all my smaller clothes except this one pair of pants. Now I'm wishing I had kept some of the smaller ones but I truly didn't think I would ever take the weight back off.

Toni...praying you stay safe from the bad weather. As much as I'm enjoying the sunshine I sure could use some of your rain. We watered the garden earlier but it never does as well as the rain. A sweet potato sounds good. It would go good with our dinner. I'm making some cousous with spinach in it and chicken on the side. If you were a little closer I'd hop on over. :D

Ellen...woo hoo :carrot: so good to see you this morning. The festival sounds like so much fun. We can't get brown rice sushi here. I don't know that I would like but it would be nice to try and see.

Solly...There is not a doubt in my mind you will start losing again. You are one of the most motivated and inspirational people that I know. Your dedication to your exercise is awesome. I'm not nearly that disiplined but I'm trying.

Tech..woo hoo on your hubby's new job. God's timing is so perfect. ((hugzz))

Bob...mama likes the half white runners also but we can't get them either. When we lived in the Carolina's that is what we planted. That is so odd about the bicycle. I'm glad they told you so you didn't ruin your car.

Gym...hang in there. Today is a new day and fresh start. We all have bad eating days from time to time. With all the exercising you do I bet the scales won't even show it. ((hugzz))

Mari...awesome on getting out there and walking. When I started SB years ago I could barely walk I was so out of shape. Then I started walking five to seven days a week. Walking really helped get the scales moving down. I think not walking over the last year is one reason I put so much back on. Okay that and the poor eating.. :D

Guess I'd better get moving. I've avoiding going out to the garden long enough. I dread the pain in my thighs again. Maybe I'll get blessed and they won't hurt as much as last week.

((Everybody)) Remember you ARE the BEST you there is!!! I hope each of you has a SUPER week.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Just here waiting for the big storm to come. It has 60mph winds. Its raining so far but no thunder or lightening yet. I've got a loaf of banana bread in the oven but I forgot I had a whole wheat banana bread recipe I was going to try. Darn..... Well next time. I did put splenda in the one I made.

Crystal- Your dinner sounds good. I've never had couscous, but would love to try it. Just got me some cast iron loaf pans to try and make bread in. I've heard they bake beautiful bread. I got onion sets Sunday and am hopeing to get my little garden started when this rain stops.

Okay guess I'll go........ Hope everyone is having a great day.

Well, tonight I blew it big time with traditional comfort food. My mother was Bohemian, and tonight my son requested, purchased the groceries for, a traditional dinner of breaded pork tenderloin cutlets, sauerkraut and potato dumplings. Tom made gravy. I ate too much. I did eat some of the dumplings because I have not had them in probably five or more years. They sure were good! I hope though, it is another five years before I eat them again.

The weather was not so nice today. Rainy, cold...I hope it warms up some.

I am really sore from water aerobics. I hope it is not too bad tomorrow. I took four ibuprofen already....

Night all!

Good Morning Everyone,

I had along day yesterday and didn't really have a chance to even say Hello. I am very happy to see the posts picked up. Always a good thing..:)

I got through yesterday with out a single bit of sugar or high fat SF treat. One whole day. I have been doing so poorly and even with the treats. It was time to buckle back down. Spring is here, and although it's not nice out yet soon enough it will be and I don't want to have to work really hard, when I could have been in the habit weeks prior. Me bad eating habits at night had returned and so I had to cut that cold turkey.

I did a step/weights interval training class for 60 min then I did about 30 min of Zumba before I went home.

I have been awake since 445. I can not wait to move out, my sister and her finance can be so loud sometimes. Usually they at least me coffee when they leave for work. Today I was on my own. How rude!

OK onto the reply's.

Monet-That dinner sounds quite yummy. Why is it that all the yummy foods are bad for us. HA. Im sure after today you won't be as sore. It usually takes 1-2 days for the soreness to wear off. I recommend on those really sore days doing some water laps. It honestly helps with the soreness because it helps your muscles to relax and warm up. There is a big difference from being sore and real hurt, so listen to your body, and don't over do it. The more you do it it gets easier on the body.

Crystle-Awesome job on the 5 pounds. That is amazing. I am or was(i gained) about 5 pounds behind you. Im curious if you don't mind sharing this, for you what does that translate into for pants size? It always amazes me how different people fit into clothing. I hope I can report even a pound loss this week. I have a lot of xtra gaining to loose from my awful 2 week cheat.

Toni-I hear you on the planning. I do so much better when I go to the grocery store with a plan and have good foods ready. its when I get lazy and hungry that I go awry. Yesterday was a new day--I got through it and today I will also. We can do this.:)

BOB-Odd about the bike. I would call just to give them a heads up. Sometimes people do report stolen bikes and such. This way you can't be blamed. The best, you could give someone back something that happened, the worst, nothing happens and your not worse off. Couldn't hurt to call. Hope the DMV went well. I know the feeling about not wanting to "find" something to do. Like Toni says today is a new day so just start right back up eating well. Wendy's is the "better" choice though of the fast food. Just saying. LOL

Solly-Shopping for new stuff is so much fun. I can't wait to put my appt together this summer. I have slowly been shopping for it. Luckily I got my sister finance to paint it, I just have to pick the colors. I can send him your way. LOL I wasn't "lost" per say. I just was off in my perception as to how far this walk was going to be. This seem closer in a car at 30 mph than walking in the wind. HA. Im going to complete it some day when it gets a tad nicer out.

mari-I agree walking with a friend is a good thing. I have a decent "friend" base at both gym I attend so let me tell you its much harder to not go when you have people ask you where you have been. it helps give the xtra push. I do "love" the gym but it can still be a challenge to get there some day. Awesome grocery shopping for legal recipes. you will have to post the recipies that you really like. I need new ideas!!

Ok everyone have an awesome OP day!! YAY us. We can do this!!

Lets have a challenge day where we all agree to be 100% legal for 1 day. I know we could all do it. It would be interesting to hear how everyone does. What does everyone think?

Good morning ladies, It was sunny last night so we took the dog for a 30 mintues walk and then I pushed myself to go to the gym and do weights for 30 minutes. I sure didn't want to go and even when I got there I didn't want to stay but I got in 30 minutes. I was in bed at 9:30, I was just tired. Slept all night, which is unusual, and was still tired this morning, but I am raring to go now. We had steaks on tehg rill and boy they were good. Haven't had them in awhile and I am not a big steak fan, but tasted good last night with a salad.

Bob, I agree, what a happy post. So glad to see it, sorta of got me going this morning. I am so excited that you have a walking buddy. Good going girl. Did you see where Mr Kentucky, Bill Kightly died. He had been the equipment mgr for almost 50 year. Under 6 coaches. He will be missed.

Monet, Oh my gosh, the vase is beautiful. What intricate work. I may have to commission another piece. You have to treat yourself sometime. We know we are not giving things up forever, we just have to learn how to eat them in moderation.

Toni, come on now, you just keep all that rain. We are expecting some showers today and then another big storm on Thursday. I want some sunshine!!!!!

Counrty, Woo-hoo  another 5 pounds, OK you are flying past me and leaving me in your dust. I must get ti going. I will never catch up, but I'm trying.

Gym, glad you are back on track. I knew you could do it. I'm up for your challenge. I had a legal day yesterday and plan on another today. It's those weekends that kill me.

Determined, glad you are back and we totallyunderstand. How sweet of you to provide a place & support for your friend. I hope she can work things out for her benefit.

Well, I have a million things to do today, so better get started. Have a great OP day!
