Hi yoyodieter! I'm just starting out here and have been doing the steel-cut oats with cinnamon thing too! I am not an oatmeal fan, but have really come to like this. I add cinnamon and Splenda to mine. I also add flax seed that I grind up in my coffee grinder. I haven't ever tried it with berries. Gonna have to experiment a little more!

Ducks head. It was a rough night and slow morning. I forgot to grab my slimfast shake out of the fride. I had a cappuccino and two small granola bars for breakfast. Not what I planned but I didn't grab lots of unhealthy junk. I needed the caffeine to get me woke up. Back on track now and about to have my midmorning snack of yogurt. :)

I usually have a cup of steelcut oatmeal, but I set up the crockpot last night and forgot to plug it in! So, I settled for 7 lowfat Triscuits with 1 slice of swiss cheese...microwaved for 10 seconds so the cheese melts just a tad.

03-18-2008, 12:59 PM
I had a cup of Kashi go lean and 1/2 cup of 1% Milk (I'm out of skim right now) and a banana

03-18-2008, 01:18 PM
I had 1/2 cup ff cottage cheese, with 1/2 banana, and one piece of weight watcher whole wheat toast with 2 t. of natural peanut butter on it.

03-18-2008, 01:27 PM

03-18-2008, 03:57 PM
Initially I ate an Atkins bar while leaving the house at 9:30 to take DD to speech therapy and then I had my Chiro appointment. When I got home it was close to 11:30 but I cooked up a "brunch" of 8 eggs scrambled with cheese.

03-18-2008, 04:22 PM
A Kashi Oat Waffle toasted, with 1 T jif peanut butter and 1 tsp Welch's grape jam, and a cup of chai tea latte made with skim milk.

03-18-2008, 04:34 PM
I'm terrible. The worst on this list. But I'll share anyhow!

Pistachios and tap water. Our power went out, I was scared to open the refrigerator as I didn't know when the power would come back on (flashbacks to being a kid with my parents hollering about opening the fridge when the power was out). I have just bought all kinds of healthy goodness and didn't want it to spoil.

Lunch will be much better!

03-18-2008, 05:18 PM
Spinach and goat cheese frittata with coffee

03-18-2008, 05:22 PM
I at ate my desk ho hum, 1/2 cup cottage cheese ( i love that stuff!) 1 kashi bar (trail mix) and 1 small pear and a coffee :)

03-18-2008, 05:53 PM
I had 2 kashi waffles toasted in the toaster, then I placed them on a plate and poured a strawberry yogurt on top of them, plus a sliced banana. Mmmmmm it is so yummy and filling, sure beats fattening syrup anyday!

03-18-2008, 07:47 PM
I never thought of putting yogurt on top of waffles. That sounds delicious. :T I'm going to have to try that. I've never seen Kashi waffles before. Are they located in the freezer section?

3 egg whites
1 oz ( chopped up ) jimmy deans 50% reduced fat sausage mixed in eggs
1/4 cup mild cheddar mixed in eggs
4 oz orange juice
2 medium celery sticks

Pretty much the same thing every morning. Sometimes I have toast 2 pieces Schwebel's light wheat and sometimes I have buckwheat pancakes with sugar free syrup.

03-18-2008, 08:25 PM
My usual lately
Espresso, steamed skim milk, splenda and sweet n'low (in the car through my 40 minute commute)
1/2 cup cottage cheese and a vegetable - today 1 cup raw snowpeas - eaten at my desk at my leasure.

Girlygirl Rhonda - hadn't thought about putting the triscuits and cheese in the microwave. I often have this combo as a snack and I'll need to try melting that cheese!

03-18-2008, 10:20 PM
1/2 cup Nature's Path pumpkin flax cerealwith GlenOaks drinkable yogurt on top. I've been stuck on this for awhile now...I think I'll branch out and do an omlette tomorrow.

03-18-2008, 10:32 PM

Spinach shake with a few handfuls of spinach, 2-4 stalks of celery, 10 baby carrots, 1 cup of frozen strawberries and 1/2 frozen banana with plenty of water to blend.

I made an omlette this morning - green pepper, onion, mushrooms and a little cheese in one egg with two pieces of wheat toast with apple jelly. Yummo! Wish I had time for eggs more often - they really stick with me.

03-19-2008, 01:19 PM
Today I had 4 soy chick'n drumettes, and 1 1/3 cup vegan cauliflower Parmesan with seitan.

03-19-2008, 01:32 PM
Breakfast, love it. Breakfasts foods- not in the morning.

Today was black bean hummus with a HUGE plate of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I replaced the lemon juice with fresh grapefruit juice. Doesn't that sound breakfasty?

It was actually pretty good!

03-19-2008, 01:39 PM
I have 3 stand by breakfasts I eat. Here are the three choices...

1. 1/2 Cup oatmeal, topped with 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts, 1 1/2 tsp brown sugar and a large sprinkle of cinnamon. An orange and 1 cup light vanilla soy milk and Black Chai tea.

2. 1 Thomas's 100% Whole wheat English muffin with 2 Tablespoons organic almond butter topped with either a sliced banana or sliced apple 8 oz soy milk and Black Chai tea.

3. 1 Thomas's 100% Whole wheat English muffin with 1/4 cup diced avocado 2 hard boiled eggs 2 Tablespoons Salsa, raisins or prunes, 8 oz soy milk and Black Chai Tea.

03-19-2008, 03:31 PM
I love all the ideas in this thread. Breakfast is probably my hardest meal because I just never feel like making anything.

This morning I had WW yogurt with 1/4 cup of granola on top. I am about to eat a plum as a snack :)

03-19-2008, 04:33 PM
This morning I had a green smoothie, with 1 green apple, strawberries, 1/2 cup of organic apple juice, 1 tablespoon on freshly ground flax seeds, and 2 cups of spinach. It turned brown, so I dunno if I'll be doing that combo again! heh. I have one of these smoothies a day, good source of veggies!

I learned a good trick with the steel cut oats that apparently we all eat! If you soak them overnight they cook faster and apparently it releases something in them, but I can't remember what! I always eat mine with frozen fruit and vanilla soy milk - so yummy!

03-19-2008, 04:50 PM
Trader Joe's oat blueberry cranberry muffin (no sugar added)!

Mid morning snack: 2tbsp sunflower butter mixed with 2 tbsp flaxseed, 2 wasa slices for dipping

03-19-2008, 05:15 PM
Today, just an Atkins bar and water.
Lunch 6 eggs scrambled with cream cheese.

Today - one Kashi waffle with 2 t. natural peanut butter, applesauce

03-20-2008, 10:11 AM

04-02-2008, 11:26 AM
I packet of weight control oatmeal & banana

04-02-2008, 11:31 AM
The morning got away from me, so i've had a coffee & a kashi bar, then a pear. I normally have a big scoop of 1% cottage cheese but I didn't get around to it -- and then someone brougth me a McDonald's "cinna-melt" OMG are you kidding me??? I took one small bite and said "that's sooooooo good but I'm trying not to eat stuff like this right now" and she said "me too" so we had a laugh about it and watched her 6'3 son who's 18 years old eat FOUR of them, ours included ;)

04-02-2008, 11:32 AM
I saw where Soulbliss had some coconut oil for breakfast. I've tried to blend in coconut oil in my eggs and such and it has a wierd taste and smell does anyone else find that in their coconut oil.

04-02-2008, 11:43 AM
This morning I had a bowl of Nature's Path Optimum Zen Cranberry Ginger cereal with 1 cup of fat free milk and a kiwi.

04-02-2008, 12:58 PM
Beverly, I guess it's possible that some people might try and reach a zen state through the use of opium, but probably not in their breakfast cereal!

04-02-2008, 01:15 PM

04-03-2008, 12:08 AM
Yummy blueberry flax cereal w/ 1/2 cup of soy milk :)

04-03-2008, 12:28 AM
This past week I've been a bit crap about cooking breakfast - quite often make a low carb shake consisting of
Small carton coconut cream (8g fat, 6g carbs, 6g protein)
Couple of ice cubes
Handful of chopped strawberries
Scoop unsweetened almond butter
Half scoop whey protein powder (c.10g protein)
2 sachets sucralose

This morning, however, I made pancakes. Used ground almonds with some whey protein instead of flour, and served them with chopped strawberries, one sachet of sucralose, ground black pepper and some chopped bacon that I cooked in coconut oil.

I've tried to blend in coconut oil in my eggs and such and it has a wierd taste and smell does anyone else find that in their coconut oil.

Man, I'm LOVING coconut oil! The stuff I'm using is cold pressed & it doesn't have a weird smell, imho - it smells and tastes like coconut. Which I was pretty much expecting, and since I like coconut it's all good! (sauteed some king prawns in it the other night - OMG, such yumminess!)
