Default Hello

I have been reading through the threads here and this sounds like a really good place to start. I have about 90-100 pounds to lose.
I had a baby on June 4, 2007. Before having my son I was excercising 30 minutes a day. After having my son, I gained 20 pounds. I want to get back into excercising and I hope the weather warms up here soon so I can take my son out on walks.
I want to add more fruits and vegetables in my diet (my fiance does not like fruits or vegetables). Once my son gets on table food, I know that I will be eating a lot more fruits and vegetables.
Right now with the fresh fruit prices and with most of them being out of season here, it is much easier for me to buy canned fruit.
When I was in high school, I was a runner. I would run 2-4 miles a day. I loved running! I got so much energy from running! Then, I met my ex husband and he put a stop to my running. He came up so many excuses why I should not run and it was easier not to do to avoid a fight. I have been wanting to get back into running, but at my current weight (220) I am sure that I would look pretty stupid outside running!! I probably could not even run a block!! I have 2 new pairs of running shoes that I bought a while ago. I am hoping that the weather gets nice so I can at least start walking and then work my way to running. We got one of those really nice strollers that you can run with and it came with built in speakers so I can hook my radio, cd player, or mp3 player in it. And my son loves the outdoors so I know that he will have fun. We are also looking into buying a burley so we can start bike riding on the weekends.

Hi Scoobie

to the 100lb club area! Don't let embarrassment keep you from living the healthy life you deserve. Who cares what other people think when you're running? Even if you can only run a block at first, just imagine how far you'll be able to run if you start out with running just a block a day?

Frozen steambags of vegetables are an easy & excellent way to get some veggies into your diet. And using canned fruits is better than no fruits. You can even rinse them off if you'd like.

Make sure to keep posting & keep us all updated!

Welcome! I buy some of my fruit frozen when I can't find fresh. Look to see if there is any added sugar.

Thank you all! I think that you guys will help provide me with the support that I need to meet my goals. I remember how hard it was when I first started running in high school. My freshman year, I went out for track and could hardly run a half of a mile. During that summer vacation, I decided to give running a try. I lived out the country so I did not have a fear of people seeing me run. I started out with just a quarter of a mile one way. I would run until I was tired and at first it was only like 5 feet.

Hi and welcome!!! I have a son 2 months older than yours. I take him with me when I go walking and he absolutely loves it. He loves being outdoors too. I say if you enjoy running, then start going as far as you can and build up from there.

You have come to a wonderful place for support. I'm at 268 now and started jogging. I did my first 5k weighing around 280 and started the couch to 5k program around 290. It's totally doable if it's something you want to do. I used to hate jogging/running of any type and now I love the freedom I feel while doing it. It's a great time for me to meditate and relax.
