Can you eat too many beans in one meal or one day? I dumped a can of garbanzo beans in a pot with two cans of fire-roasted tomatoes and some spices and heated it up, added some spices and topped it with a little shredded cheese and FF sour cream. It was soooo good that I ate almost the whole thing. The can said the beans were 3 1/2 servings so I probably ate about 3 servings. Other than maybe a little tummy trouble, does eating too many beans in one day cause problems? I'm feeling very full and a bit like a pig for eating so much. :?:

One can eat too much of anything in a day!

If you're not used to eating beans, that much fiber could cause you to bloat a little, and you might be a bit gassy, but other than that, you'll be fine.

I love garbanzo beans, by the way. I could totally eat an entire can! Good idea with the tomatoes!

One of my favorite lunches is to saute a can of drained & rinsed chickpeas with a little onion and garlic in olive oil, then add a can of diced tomatoes to it and top it with some grated parmesan. Yummy! Your recipe is very similar to mine. :) You can have as much beans as you'd like, and I usually get 2 servings from this.

My understanding is that you can start with 1/3-1/2 c of beans per day as a serving size when you start this food plan. No concrete explanation was ever given that I have yet to come across and I am constantly sleuthing to understand the dynamics of this food plan all the time. I guess, it goes back to beans being a starchier vegetable and the fact, as someone else mentioned, that it can cause some people to become constipated or bloated, which can affect your weight lose efforts.

In the past, before I started SBD, I read to start beans slowly so your body can become accustomed to them but after that it is really up to you. I think they are truly "a miracle fruit" as the rhyme goes.

Your recipe sounds super! Yum! Beans are good for the plumbing and I think very versatile in how they can be prepared. Eat away.....;)

It was very good. My husband even liked it. But about the "plumbing"..it's worked 4 times today. No stomach upset...just more "regularity". :o
