Hi Mez - thanks for the new thread!
Today I shoveled snow *again*. Another 45 minutes, and another 8 inches!! The snow piles are 4 feet high around the driveway. Not to mention the snow blower motor blew out, so it all had to be done by hand. Ugh. So, that was enough exercise today.

I usually go for walks (2-5 miles long) every day. I also weight train 6 days a week switching between muscle groups.

So I tried Hip Hop Abs cardio DVD and I was a little disappointed. Not only did I breeze through it (I did the intro DVD, so I know I was doing the moves right), but I really wasn't tired afterwards. Now I would love to say I am in great shape... but I'm not. I'm hoping to feel some soreness when I get up in the morning otherwise I may be saving some money on my sisters next christmas present (we were weight watcher budies a couple years ago, so I don't think she would be offended ;)). Anyone have any suggestions? He has more workouts, and I have some of the DVDs, but he suggests only starting off with one. Should I try doing two workouts if I don't end up feeling anything (one of the write-ups I read is that it seems easy at the time, but you really feel it the next day)? I don't believe that you should be exhausted at the end of a workout, but you should feel something other then sweat rolling down your face. Am I off base here, because I would love it if what seems like a breeze is really a good work out, but I'm not sure whether or not to believe it.

Kim--See how you feel in the morning. I'm curious to know. Me, well I cleaned my house for an hour and walked 2 miles at the gym. Hopefully my lungs will get stronger and I can do some hard cardio some day.

Did Hard Core Fusion today. Sweated a lot for whatever reason, but that's okay LOL! Beats shoveling snow :D

Mez - good luck with the surgery, when will you be back and posting again?

I restart morning running tomorrow. Had to quit it mid november as the dark mornings/nights and BITTER COLD were just too much. Can't wait to get back into the swing of it (although the early morning is going to be a killer for first week or so)... quarter to five dear alarm clock I shall be seeing you soon lol

Fiberlover Ė Did you get a chance to check out that link on how many calories are burned when shoveling by hand. Make sure you watch your back. Right now we have a freezing rain thing going on. It was nice out this morning sunny and snow was really melting. Now all I hear is rain/ice pellets and wind. I hope mother nature gets a move on with spring! I would say you did had once heck of a work out!

Rayelle Ė Welcome! Do you train in a gym or at home? Iíve only played around with hand weights nothing heavy. I do know muscle burns more calories than fat so light workouts with hand weights are in my future plans.


Kim Ė WTG on busting that Hip Hop Abs DVD! I watched it. (noticed I wrote watched) and thought yup not ready for that! LOL Iím so proud of you!! You know if you feel like doing 2 of his workout dvds go for it. You have nothing to lose but calories. Long ago I use to do 3 of the WATPS DVDs 1, 2 and 3 miles and I use to do buns and abs of steel after that. Some days I was really sweating others not as much. If you feel you are not getting anything out of the Hip Hop Abs there are lots to choose from you need to find something that works for you. Check your local library they may have something you might enjoy. Workouts can only work if your happy with what you are doing. Sorry you didnít feel anything from the Hip Hop Abs.

As for me finished up the last of the never ending laundry. I know this might not set well with some but I purchased some paper plates and plastic cups. I have a teen age son and when he gets together with his pals they can go thought a lot of cups and since Iím the dish washer I figure this was in my best interest. I am getting nervous as the night moves along. My husband is an electrician and he put in the lights and some other stuff so I find that comforting thinking somehow he is with me though it. I plan on being back on here that very same day. Iím told I need to walk and walk I will push myself. (brave talk since Iím not in any pain as of yet) Iím planning on putting on the 1 mile WATPs and seeing how far I can go w/o hurting myself. I look forward to reading all your post tomorrow! Today I dusted off my Slim in 6 workouts and did Ramp It Up. Kind of fun to do the old workouts again.

New to the forum and glad to see this!! I've lost weight before (not all of it, and gained it back each pregnancy.. bleh) ... but I've never really exercised beyond walking here and there.

This time is different. This time I'm making exercise my priority because if I keep exercising, even if I slip up with my food, I'll stay healthy regardless!!! Right??? ;)

So. Today. Week 5 of Couch to 5K .... might be week 6. Anyway.... Five minutes walking for warm up and cool down. Then for the middle slot.... 8 minutes running at 4.8mph, then 5 minutes walking at 3.2mph, and finally another 8 minutes running at 4.8mph.

This is MAJOR for me. I was a slug prior to the beginning of December when I started Karate.... and then I started running on the 1st January and I'm LOVING IT!!!! :D

So, that's me.

Oh, the biggest thing I did to motivate myself to exercise was to sign up at the very beginning for a year of Karate, so I'm committed to it no matter what. That way when the going got tough... and in the first two weeks it did... it was ****... there were periods of two and three days where I was in so much pain I was physically incapable of doing stuff... like walking one time... lol.... but I can't quit... I HAD to stick it out.

I'm rambling.... :lol: ... I'll go away now :D

I did Turbo Jam Cardio Party - 45 minutes worth! It was good, hard though, which I was expecting since I'm still a little sick.

Kim - you should try the ab workout from Turbo Jam - I was so so sore the same day, and the next day it hurt to laugh. Very good workout!

Today I did the Firm Cardio Overdrive. I am really getting the hang of it now!
45 minutes and it felt like a really good workout.

As for me I canít keep anything down. I stepped on the scale just to see and Iíve gained 4 lbs. I know itís water so that makes me feel good. Iíve been walking extreamly slow since Iím light headed. Iím no where near putting in 1 mile WATPs dvd. Iíve got to meds both make me very tired. One is Lortab I take 2 every 4 hrs and Oxycodone for bed time. The Lortab didnít do much for me though the night. I was up and miserable. My doctor said I won the award for the largest gallstones for that day. (this maybe gross to some so stop reading) 1 was the 2 Ĺ inch by 1 Ĺ inch think then 3 others were good sized marbles and some bb sized ones. I was pretty full. He had to cut a bigger whole since he couldnít take it out because of the size. Iíve very glad itís over and I hope I feel better soon. You guys are doing great I hope to join you soon. Take care.

Ouch Mez - those are some big gallstones :eek: Glad you are up and moving. Give yourself time and follow Dr's orders!

The Si6 workouts are hard. The Start it Up is the beginning one, be prepared for your leg muscles to feel it the next day, unless you are used to squats and lunges.

Mez~ Sorry to hear you're not feeling too good right now, just think of how great you will feel in a couple weeks.

Snow day today threw me off, but I've been keeping up with my workouts, which surprises me. I just barely ate my first meal of the day, which is bad, I know, but I just couldn't get myself moving quick enough to make myself anything before getting my workout in and I never feel like eating after I work out. Had to move my belt in another spot this morning! All of my old belts are too big now, so I'm borrowing one of my dad's belts...

ah well today i'm doing some running for the clinic so i am taking the stairs as much as possible.. so far i have taken the stairs 4 times thats 12 flights up and down. last night i spent 45 minutes in the gym on the elliptical trainer. without seeing my son cry in the daycare at the gym. that just kills me. i felt so good about myself and i'm hoping to do it again today!!!

I did 20 minute TJ workout cardio, and 20 minute ab workout. It was a good day :)

I've managed to work out every day since the 22nd of February! I'm shooting for the 14th without missing a day of working out.

Typically I'll do 33 mins on the elliptical (28 mins w/ 5 minute cooldown. Why 28 mins? I dunno that's what the program sets the time for...) and then alternate between swimming and weightlifting.

If I can't make it to the gym I ride the stationary bike for 45 minutes. I can't wait for the weather to get nice so I can start biking/walking outside again.

Today I did WATP 2 mile and a 20 minute walk outside. Mid 40s, sunny and such a nice change from all the snow!!!!

Swam for 20 minutes today and geezome, talk about an awesome workout. I didn't realize how out of shape I was until I was about 5 minutes into laps and only on my sixth lap. I plan on adding many more swim workouts into my weekly routine as I am already feeling sore (and loving it) from today. Also I've taken almost 11,000 steps today and I still have about 3 hours before I go to bed! Maybe that explains why I've been really hungry all day even though I've eaten my usual number of calories? I'm grasping at straws...

I finally got back to exercising today. I haven't in a couple weeks due to health problems, then I had trouble getting my butt started again. I finally got my butt up today...yayyy! I did the biggest loser dvd and I'm going to make sure I get some walking in tomorrow. I had been working on getting my walks up to 6 miles because I'm doing the march for babies but couldn't even walk when I was sick. I was up to 3 miles too...so sad. So now, please wish me luck on getting back on track and in shape enough to do my 6 miles.

I took my med and did 1 mile WATP Express. I didn't do the kickbacks just the walking. I did feel some dicomfort and I really wanted to continue for another mile but decided it's best I stop since I still had housework. I stepped on the scale I'm down 2lbs. I honestly think it's what got me to move this morning. You are all doing great! I very thankful we have such a wonderful and supporting group!!

Hip Hop Abs today, felt like more of a workout today, because I'm still sore from my swim yesterday. I hate bathing suits, but I'm excited to swim. Quite the toss up, but I've been thinking about the results of swimming rather then thinking about how I look in my bathing suit (plus I avoid the mirror). Besides, I'm wearing a swimming cap and goggles, which I have a feeling make me look goofier than my suit. I care, but not nearly as much as I used to.
