In honor of the weather, I think this title is appropriate for most of us right now. I seem to be holding this headcold in check, but I have another stuffy head and headache this morning. Hopefully several cups of coffee will clear out the cobwebs before too long. I'm meeting Cindy over at the girls' school this morning to watch Audrey perform in her ice skating program. It's cold and blustery out, I think I'll take a thermos of hot tea along with me!

Linda, sorry for your cold, I hope it clears up soon! hhmmm, home made chicken soup in order?

as for me, a bit frustrated... scale says I gained back three pounds, and I haven't been eating off plan, and I've been exercising! ARG!!!!

Thank you all for your encouraging words. I know Joe will be alright, I just hope he doesn't ruin his credit in getting there!!!!! He's a smart lad but stubborn.

Oh, tomorrow is court, child support. His father is 1800 in arrears and hasn't paid anything since December. Last month we had court, he called court saying he had car problems, left a message for judge to call. Judge tried calling during hearing, he never answered! Lets just say, with this and the fact Joe quit his last job to go work for himself, the judge is NOT happy with him. I half expect the judge to either incarcerate him or pull his license. Hopefully neither, as that wont get me paid, but then again, the loser does't pay anyway.

I finally have time to post. :) I read every day, but school has been consuming ever free second.

Good morning Cottage! I hope you fee better.

There are several inches of snow outside this early morning. I cannot wait to see my puppies play in the snow for the first time. I have a do-or-die exam today. It is is my hardest class this semester. The known "weed out" class of my major. The class is killing me. I hired a tutor and we spend about four hours preparing for the exam this morning. So keep your fingers crossed for me at 7:00 this morning. I will be sweating bullets and chewing pencils. :)

I went to the doctor yesterday regarding some minor feet problems, and ended up having both of my big toenails partially removed. :( The doctor said everyone is different, and that it should not be very painful. Well, it does hurt pretty bad. If I had known there would have been pain I would have waited until after my exam this morning.

I have been doing excellent on my plan. Even though I haven't lost any weight, I have noticed an increase in energy and I can concentrate a lot better. I would never have imagined that eating healthier would help me study! I forgot to keep track of my exercise this month for the February Challenge. :( BUT I have been exercising. I even joined my university's fitness center for free. One amazing deal that I signed up for was fitness classes that range from stationary bike class to water aerobics. I can attend 30 classes by the end of the semester and it will end up costing me 83 cents per class! I haven't started any classes yet, the first one I tried to go to was canceled because the instructor had the flu. And Monday and Tuesday have been completely dedicated to PASSING TODAY's EXAM! But I look forward to meeting new people and structured classes.

I can't believe I actually got to post this morning! Happy Wonderful Winter Wednesday to EVERYONE!

Morning chicks, woke up at 5:20 for some reason and couldn't get back to sleep, so here I am bright and early today!
cottage, stay warm and feel better!
Loriann, sorry about your troubles with ex-DH!
TnTechGirl, good to read you! Why did they have to remove the toenails? I've never heard of that before. Good luck with your test! I am sure you are not a weed.

Glad it's hump day, but I'm starting to doubt I'll accomplish everything I set out to this week. Just the usual on my plate, work, WATP, housework, and a Parks & Rec committee meeting tonight. I did pretty well staying on plan yesterday, here's hoping for another good one. Have a great day chicks!

Running late and have to hit the tub after working out...no time for personals but wishing everyone a great day. It got cold here again too...back to coats and sweaters after being able to wear springy clothes for a few days...sigh. What a tease.

Cottage hope the cold feels better. Loriane hope things go well for you. Snow in Tennesse, guess you don't see that too much.

Nova Scotia has rain today we managed to avoid a big snowstorm by only a few miles. Its actually quite a bit milder here than in Maine where I used to live. I can go out and walk most days. I think we've only had a few days subzero F. Its hard to tell I think 0 F is -17 or something like that. Maine always had a month of subzero, and I usually had to work outdoors in it. ( trying to thaw frozen oil lines.) I was going to join a health club here but the weather hasn't been bad enough to drive me indoors to a treadmill.

I'm trying to figure out if I need to change things around a bit. I'm really really hungry in the morning even though I have a couple boiled eggs. I've been eating a salad or apple for mid morning snack, but I'm wondering if I should move the bowl of bran and yogurt to morning cause I'm not really all that hungry at night time. I think I'll try it for a day or two see if I am a bit more comfortable.

Schmoodle, I was having reoccurring infections that was partialy from ingrown toenails and I have a skin condition called psoriasis that wasn't helping out either. So they removed the edges of each and I believe they said destroyed the nail bed so the nail would not regrow. It isn't the entire nail, so I am not horribly sad about it. But after 24 hours I can take the bandages off, and I am hoping that they didn't remove too much so I can wear cute sandals and open toe shoes without fear. :)

BTW, I just about spit my milk out on my monitor when I read that I wasn't a weed! Thank you for the support, it just caught me off guard and I thought it was cute! :)

If you need a good laugh, I wasn't suppose to get my bandages wet so for my morning shower I did this mind-boggling-duct-tape-and-garbage-bag make shift water booties. I forgot that garbage bags aren't designed with slip proof bottoms. I looked like a cartoon running in place when I stepped into the shower!

Morning chicks, a quickie as there is another snow day here and the kiddos are home. I need to go out and shovel as we had rain after the snow and it is way to heavy for hubbys back. So it is up to me. I did go for a walk again last night and did two miles in 35 mins. Yeah me. Eating has been terrible.
Well I must dash cause dh is pacing waiting for me to get it done.
just one personal for know.
TnTechGirl- my cousin and a friend both had their big toe toenails removed and after they healed they were able to paint them, you would never know they didn't have them.
Well gotta to dash I will pop back in later on. Have a great day. LC

Quickie this morning - gotta shovel AGAIN!

Yes, we have more snow. Should be fun because there's just no where left to put it. I am so looking forward to spring and gardens.

Still losing and re-gaining the same two pounds. I'm getting a little tired of them but am sure they will move along when they feel like it.

I hope to get back in for personals after the shoveling. Have a good day Chicks!

Quickie this morning again. I am really having trouble getting my a$$ in gear these mornings. It's NOT snowing which makes me suspicious! I'm sure we'll get more and then there's March to shovel through. My lane-ploughing lad is smiling this year!

Same old, same old around here: laundry, dog petting, exercises, nap and some quilting. My block a month quilt is more than halfway done so I need to put it away for a while. I'm where I should be for the March 29th class and the thing is not to be done until the end of June! Each month the teacher reveals another of her little "tricks" and you can't really use them if you've gone ahead with the project. I may work on a smallish wall hanging to hang in my side door window - maybe adapt the attached? (My sister says I am terminally "country"!)

Time to go through the shower and get dressed - Donna may be coming to clean this morning. Back later to read.

Good morning everyone! It is kind of dreary out there, although I see a bit of blue poking through the clouds. Avery seems terribly grumpy this morning so I may have to put her down for an early nap.

Ruth, you've reminded me I need to get on the quilt I've had hanging out for the past year. I've gotten all the blocks together; I just need to sew them to each other, back it, and quilt it. That'll be my Tom's-in-Florida-I-need-to-keep-myself-busy project (because the kids don't keep me at all busy...;)).

Cyndi, hope your shovelling goes quickly!

LC, you're a speed machine! Hope your walk was nice!

TN, good luck on your test! I'm sure with all of that studying, you'll be fine!

Jen, I definitely need a bigger breakfast and can survive on smaller lunches and dinners. I must burn up most of my calories in the morning. My new favorite thing is crockpot steel cut oats.

Cat, don't hit the tub too hard...you might hurt yourself! :D

Schmoodle, string those good days together!

Loriann, good luck with the hearing tomorrow!

Linda, glad to hear you've been able to stop that cold in its tracks! Enjoy Audrey's ice skating!!!

I'm off to do grammar and phonics with Connor. More later!

Morning Chicks, quick fly by for me, lots of work to do! DH took me out lastnight for our anniversary and we will leave it there since I could be kicked off the board for pornographic material if I disclose what I ate! :yikes: :lol3:

He said this morning he was going to stop eating cause he can't seem to drop this belly he has going on. I said haven't you learned anything through my experience???? Guess it is time for me to step in and put my foot down. Good news is I think I have him convinced to sign us up for the gym!

Gotta run, will try to get back at lunch for personals! Have a great day ladies!

Good Hump day! The weekend is around the corner.

It's cold here today with a windy high of 55.

Cottage I hope your not coming down with anything worse. Seems like some kind of bug is going around as my mom and a few others around me are sick with fever, chills, headache etc.

Good luck with court Loriann

Intech be sure to let us know how you do on the exam. Sorry to hear of the toenails & I can sympathize as I lost mine when I fell down a flight of stairs - loosing the toenail hurt worse than the actual fall

:dust: for you Schmoodle

Cat the temps were like that here in Fla unitl this morning & it's suppose to get colder

Morning LC! Great job on getting the walking done and heres some :dust: to help on the eating

Snow shoveling has to be great exercise right Cyndi ;)

Ruth my mom would love that quilt as she is country - her house looks like the inside of a cracker barrel store

Hi Kara

The usual here today - work, walk on treadmil at lunchtime, bowflex this evening & maybe some work in the spare room.

Check back in a bit

1 day, 0 hours, 39 minutes, 05 seconds...

Cottage: I'm sorry you're still not feeling well. I'm sure Audrey's performance will cheer you up. Stay warm by all of that ice!

Loriann: Sorry to hear about the child support issues. A friend of mine hated when her ex got thrown in jail for it because it meant she wasn't getting the check for their three kiddos. Poor thing. I'm sorry about your gain, but do you think you've put on three pounds of muscle due to all of the working out? It's possible. I've gained as much as 5 pounds, but stayed the same size or smaller because of muscle gain. Maybe what's happening with you?

TnTech: Good luck on your test - then again, it's probably over by now! Hope it went well. Sorry about your toenails. I don't know about anyone else, but that sounds to me like it would hurt...a lot.

, Cat and Schmoodle! I hope that you both have great days!

Spirit: Yikes! 0*F is COLD!! I'm glad that it doesn't get that cold for you in Nova Scotia. I don't think I'd survive! I'd like to say that I'm tough about weather, but I really am a bi sissy about it. Sounds like you're the opposite!

LC: Be careful with all of that shoveling! Hope the kids aren't too crazy being home again.

Cyndi: You be careful with the shoveling, too! I'm sorry about the 2 lbs coming and going over and over again. Have you found some new workouts you like?

Ruth: I love that quilt! I'm sure it would look gorgeous in your place. (Although, I must say that I have a picture in my head of what your place should look like and I could be completely wrong!) Hope you have a great day.

Kara: Have a good day! I wish I knew how to quilt! I'm very jealous. I hope you'll share some pics when you're all finished.

Stephanie: I'm glad you had a good anniversary. I won't be sharing what I eat on vacation this week. I'd be joining you in the exile-pile for sure! Congrats on you and DH's gym membership. I know for my DH and I, it makes it easier to get workouts in if we have eachother to go with.

, Gonna! Have a great couple of workouts today!

Me: So, the excitement is so distracting right now. I've only got about 2 1/2 hours to get the rest of the week's work done. I'm not too worried about it as I was able to get A LOT done yesterday.

We didn't sleep well at all last night for some reason. At about 6 am, the disaster sirens went off in town for what seemed like 30 minutes. Turns out a train derailed just west of town (about 2 miles from our house) and spilled a bunch of hazardous cargo. We're fine and as far as we know, nobody was injured. But, one of my employees and DH's boss are stuck at home as the train partially landed on the only road in or out of their area. Hopefully they'll get the mess cleaned up in a few days. I believe they're going to try and get trains running through by next Monday, but it depends on how the investigation into the incident goes. Of course this happens when we go out of town -- no loud train whistles at 3 in the morning!! I'm just glad that nobody was hurt.

Well, time to get back to work. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday!!

1 day, 0 hours, 18 minutes, 30 seconds...

Stephanie, looks like you'll get that gym membership after all! :yay: My father-in-law was going on and on (while he ate an entire dinner plate filled with white pasta with NO vegetables at all) about how he didn't put on any weight until he started taking his heart medication. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the donuts he ate before bed, the fact he does no exercise, his refusal to eat vegetables, or the half stick of butter he melts over his bag of microwave popcorn every night. It kills me when people make excuses for behaviors that only they can change. Of course, I don't say any of this out loud (and I know none of you will rat on me), but I try to give good suggestions when he asks "What the heck" I'm eating. Gosh, that turned into my own personal rant now, didn't it?!

Gonna, I'm sure your mom's house is just too adorable for words!

Did I tell you guys I finally fixed the keyboard to this computer? For some reason it was set to some other language so every time I tried to make quotes, it would put a funny character over the next letter I typed instead of doing the quotes. Very strange. But I figured it out all by myself!

Kim, work away, darling! You'll be in New Mexico before you know it!

Connor is doing incredibly well on his work today, so in turn I have an excellent attitude as well! He should be completely finished with everything before lunch! And I just got a call from my old gymnastics coach from elementary/high school (she owns the gym) and she "found" spots for my two older kids in the classes I wanted to enroll them in, so now they can start gymnastics next Wednesday! I have to go out and get Kadyn a leotard or two, which I'm sure will be torture for my little princess. ;) She was so sad we had to leave all of her dress-up things in Korea, so this will be a happy shopping trip! Maybe we'll even get it in this afternoon since Connor is almost done school!

Snow shoveling in Vermont. At least you don't usually shovel slush like we do here in Nova Scotia. I swear that snow has concrete mixed in.

Ruth that is suspcious and you will pay for noticing the lack of flakes in the air. Especially since we're coming up on March. We had a big snow in Maine at the end of April last year. They predicted about 5 cm. ( 2inch) When I got out in the morning after wrestling the door open I looked out on at least 3 ft. I had to push it out of the way so the dog ( lab/rottie mix could take a wee) This was after a couple nice warm spring days.

Kara I think the bigger breakfast is going to work better. Probably better to have the grain in the morning too. I look forward to that 1/2 cup of bran cereal.

I finally got my police certificate from Maine now I can send my immigration paperwork off. YeAAAA

Kim I die and I mean die in Texas heat. I lived for about 6 months north or FT. Worth. It wasn't so much during the day but the fact that it didn't cool down at night at all. It goes over 80 and I can't hardly stand it. I hope this improves when I get the weight off.

Well, I worked on my exam from 7:00 until 9:10. I did not get finished and the professor is allowing us to return at 11:15 until 12:20, so I will be packing back up in a few and heading back to campus. What a day!

I am happy to hear that no matter what, I can paint my leftover toenail/ toe!

Kim: I hope everything turns out o.k. with the train derailing. It is always scary when there is a report of hazardous materials involved.

Loriann: Good luck in court tomorrow. I hope everything works out for you and your child/ren. I never considered if the court ruled to lock someone up for not paying their child support, that they couldn't be earning money to actually pay it! Wow, what a challenging situation.

Spiritmagejkt: Congratulations on our police certificate! I sure wish my wimpy puppies would wee on the snow. They are just running around in the snow but refuse to go! They have to be about to pop!

I am back off to campus... back soon!

 Cottage, I hope you feel better soon! It's awful to feel sick and have to trudge through snow to get to work, too! I love the tea idea!

Loriann, I hope things go well in court. Your kiddo's father sure sounds like deadbeat. :p Don't stress the 3 pounds. I know it's hard, but there's no way you could have gained that much weight overnight. Just stick to the plan and be patient...you'll see the scale change. :)

:luck: to you on your exam, TN! Sounds like you're well prepared. Congrats on making so many healthy changes in your life and reaping the results. The exercise classes sound amazing; there are so many wonderful, inexpensive ways to get fit when you're in school! Hope you enjoy them! Water Aerobics is one of my favorite classes ever--you have no idea that you're actually exercising until the next day, when you're sore!

Spiritmage, you might want to include more veggies with your breakfast. That should make you feel much more full. Good luck with the snack change...it's great that you're paying attention to your body, trying new things, and are willing to wait a while before assessing the results! :D

Good luck with the shoveling, LC! Use proper form and protect your back, okay?

I hear you, Cyndi, but we don't have nearly as much snow as you do, I'm sure. Spring will sure be a welcome sight this year! :cloud9: Hon, you are SO close to goal!!! :yay: That's awesome! It's really, really hard to lose those last couple of pounds. It's like your body is saying, "Are you really sure about this? Are you serious? ;) " They'll come off, eventually.

Hi, Schmoo!

Ah, Ruth, I'm jealous of all the quilting! I have a quilt to finish that I put away somewhere before Christmas. I need to find it and get back into it! Love the attached hanging...and I think country stuff is wonderful!

Oooh, Kara, grammar and phonics are my favorites! So, I'd love it if you'd tell me how you make the crockpot oatmeal...that sounds like a fantastic idea! :T Hon, feel free to vent anytime...it's always good for us to hear that someone else feels like we do, and many of us can totally sympathize with that situation!

Stephanie! :lol3: I love food porn...:s: Hope you can convince DH to lose the weight in a healthy way. :D The gym is a great start!

Gonna, you are so motivated! :goodvibes: Good for you!

Kim, I hope you get everything done so you can just focus on the trip! :cloud9: The "no train whistles" comment made me  and think about that one hotel room in "My Cousin Vinnie." :lol3: I'm glad no one got hurt last night.

Me:
Wow...a student came in just as I got started on personals, so this took a while! ;)

I'm feeling kind of achy and sore, both from some vicious sore throat I have and from a fall I had yesterday in the snow. :( I think it might have frightened our poor dog more than it did me, as she's making me go first a lot more on our walks and giving me a wide berth in case I fall on her, I guess! I slipped a lot yesterday--we didn't get a ton of snow, but it sure was slippery! :fr:

Gym and faith formation class tonight. I'm hoping they don't cancel class as we only have one make-up day and it's already used up from the first class, which was cancelled. There's not a ton of snow out there, but it's still falling and with tons of elderly people coming to the talk, who knows what they'll do.

Last night I really wanted to go back downstairs and eat something else after I'd had my dessert and was already upstairs for the night. I was journaling and tried to write about it in hopes that it would convince me to stay put, but it didn't. Thinking about it later, even though I journaled about what I thought was making me want to eat, I didn't journal about how it made me feel. Maybe that's why it didn't make me feel better? :?:

My dear friend Mel had her baby yesterday afternoon. He's an absolute doll and has a full head of dark hair, complete with little sideburns! DH asked, "Did he say, 'Thank you verrah much' after they pulled him out?" She named the little guy Carter Allen. I think that's a really neat name! She loves that his clothes (many of which are Carter's brand) have his name on them already! :lol3:

Have a great day everyone!

TN, our pup is small and doesn't enjoy peeing in the snow, though she LOVES sniffing it. Eventually she goes, but she has been much more likely to hold it until she gets inside and then use the nice, warm carpet... Our last dog was like that too...in the summer she never had accidents.

Done! I finished the exam, and I am sitting down to catch up on some reading. I made the apricot, pistachio, and goat cheese salad for lunch. I think I have Kara to thank for the recipe. It is now a staple in my menu. I love it, and I cannot even imagine my salads before. :)

Beach: Well our oldest puppy finally got brave and gave the snow try. Our smallest one refuses. Maybe because he is so close to the ground. I have put out a bunch of training pads, but it usually ends up like this... (http://youtube.com/watch?v=RVqi9bGWbiw)
