Unhappy Plateau/Gaining but losing inches???

So I gained 2 pounds last week, and have plateaued this week, but I've still lost almost an inch in my waist, and 1/2" in my hips... I'm very happy for SOME loss on my body!! But I'm confused!!!!! How does this happen?

Also-- I'm making size/weight goals with my best friend, and she is having the EXACT same experience (and weirdly enough, we now weigh the same as eachother).... I saw a post on here a while ago that your weight usually correlates with that of the people around you.

Any ideas? Is it my girlfriend jinxing me? Since this had been happening to her for about a month before I noticed anything for me...

Have you been exercising? You may have lost some fat and put on some muscle - which would explain the inch loss and the weight gain. Muscle weighs more than fat and takes up less space. Stick with it; the scale will move in the right direction.

Yeah-- I exercise every day, whether it's dancing or aerobics or pilates... But I did all of this before I started my dieting... Hm.

How are you tracking what you eat? Do you have a calorie target, or...?

Give us an idea of what your food program is--maybe we can make suggestions.

Oh! Sorry I posted on another my plan...
I do Weight Watchers Flex, currently. And I usually stay in my points, and probably eat about 20 of my Weekly extra Points.

I think that may be very likely able to happen. I have been pretty much stuck in the same weight area for the past 2 months but still managed to lose half an inch all over. I think someone has said that even though you may stop losing pounds, it can take a while for your body to catch up and this may be the time that your body is still contracting back in. Does that make sense. Like some people say in maintenance that before you go get a tummy tuck, it could take up to a year for your skin to retract so that you would know how much skin you might be left with. so sometimes when we plateu, our bodies could still be working to your advantage by tightening up. That's what i think mine has been doing (I hope...lol).

Oh Ok that makes sense. Especially for a plateau... Hmmm Good point! And, as I said before, any loss is a loss So I'm happy

I haven't lost much weight recently, but my stomach is getting flatter and tighter and my bras are looser! I'm on my last few pounds so I know I shouldn't expect to lose quickly.
