GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM-IT'S A GOOD ONE!:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

GET BACK UP

Lots of things can knock you down, yet nothing can stop you when you're determined to keep getting back up. Success belongs to those who can endure enough disappointments and setbacks while staying positive and committed to reaching the goal.

The way to build strong muscles is to lift heavier and heavier weights. In the same way, the strength necessary for achievement comes when you quickly get going again each time you're knocked down. The setbacks are not really setbacks. They're opportunities to take your efforts to a higher and more effective level. The disappointments are not really disappointments. They're experiences that will strengthen your determination.

When you have the confidence to get back up, there's no need to be stopped by the fear of being knocked down. Even if you fall short, it's just one more step on the way to certain achievement.

Everyone knows disappointment. Winners are those who acknowledge the disappointment but who refuse to accept it as the final result. Keep getting back up, keep getting back in the game. No matter how many setbacks may come your way, each one is a golden invitation to get back up and move on ahead.

Oh my goodness - weekends are the toughest things to get through - WOE wise! I always find myself with food in hand and open mouth before I realize that I shouldn't be eating it!

I went grocery shopping this weekend and got even more depressed! Not only is it hard to find things to eat, but it's also expensive! I have to buy the normal food for dh and then all the sugar-free/fiber diet food for me. I wish he'd change his eating habits a little so I wouldn't have to cook two seperate meals!

Saturday I did pretty good - it was my bro's b-day party and they all had BBQ and I ate a grilled chicken breast with mixed veggies. Then on Saturday night went out to eat at a mexican restuarant and realized all the things I couldn't have. So I ordered fajita's and didn't eat the tortilla's. Sunday was bad, I had a piece of veggie pizza!!!! I know, I know - shame on me!

Exercise wise - I did 1 hour of Yoga on Saturday and 30 minutes on Sunday. Had to work outside on Sunday. Had such a bad ice storm here about a week and a half ago that we are still cutting and picking up branches.

Hello everyone!

I started SB last week on Wednesday and have been hanging around SB message boards since. I saw Debbie on SB Sweet Talk, talked to her, and she suggested I joined. Here I am!

I am sure you all agree that SB is the happiest WOE ever. I am never hungry (as long as I remember to bring a snack), and never bored with my food. I have been dieting all my life, even though I was never much overweight. Just not happy with the way the pants and/or skirts fit - not to mention the swim wear!

This WOE is also bringing me and my boyfriend a bit closer together, because now I can eat his precious burgers and grilled chicken breast, without feeling guilty! Or, opting for something less dangerous, like a baked potato!

If I only think about all the misconceptions we carry around about food, I shiver!

Now I get to eat beef:D , avocado:dizzy: , and nuts:lol:

Let's just say, I am one happy camper and leave it at that!

You all seem like you are enjoying it too, so here's to SB!!

:^:

Boy, the board is quiet today. Was it down?

DH's shifts have me in a tizzy, so I haven't had too much time for the board. I still have to read thru most of last week's board.

I wrote down everything I ate yesterday, and just by having to write it down helps me to make good food choices. I was really tired yesterday and had almost talked myself out of my workout, but sitting watching the TV, I guilted myself into doing it. YEAH ME!:D It may not have been at the intensity I'm used to, but I did the workout. I had already used Friday as my "free" day. So now I've done my workouts for 2 weeks straight.

Went with DS and his class on a field trip. On the way home, the bus broke down. Poor driver had taken in his bus for service this morning and they gave him this one. It was ok going down, butas soon as we started to go home, oil was burning and the motor was grinding--not good. Driver had checked it out in the morning and had it running off and on while we were inside and no problems. Had to wait about an hour stuck on a bus with 38 4 and 5 year olds until another bus came to get us. Needless to say, I'm pooped.

HELLO EVERYONE!!!

WELCOME VESNOID and any other new people I've missed.

POOH Don't beat yourself up over a slice of pizza. Sounds like you're doing very well and getting right back on track after a wee setback. I've been cooking WW pasta and DH says he doesn't notice a difference. My family eats brown rice and I think--someone please correct me if I'm wrong--parboiled white rice is legal. Maybe gradually convert your DH one or two things at a time. Maybe he won't notice the difference ;) or he'll come to like it.

Gotta scoot. Things to do. I'll be back when I can.

Hiedie Ho All!!!!

Or should I say few. Board is slow.

Went to Nh this morning, back to exercise (reduced the weight and seemed to do okay), then to store for milk...which means I wind up getting a few other things too!!! Expensive milk!!!!

POOH - I buy very little special "diet" foods. There is plenty out there if you read labels. Many things do not contain sugars, starches, corn syrup etc. I do buy ww pasta which family will eat and brown rice. Of course, I do buy some form of sweetener and SFSGWW bread. Basically the special things I buy are ww pastry flour, agave, sgww flour, that are for baking. Veggies, meats, fish and seafood are all normal foodstuffs. Get in the habit of reading labels. it may seem hard to decipher at first but you soon get the hang of it. Don't make it hard for yourself as this is the easiest woe I have found!!!!

VESNOID - Welcome. You're right about the food choices, I hope Pooh reads it and sees that more than one of us eat "normal" food. Lots of nice people here. I have learned a lot being here.

ZANNE - Sounds like a fun bus trip. Over my years as a GS leader I had three such adventures, one with a charter bus (in the parking lot of the Museum of Natural History in NYC after closing time), one with a car and one with a bus sick girl that really had appendicitis. She had surgery three hours after our return from Harrisburg, PA.......I had no clue as she did not have the normal symptoms, turns out her appendix was not in the right place!!!! Those kind of things are harrowing when going through them, but then you look back and can see the silly things that happened etc. Then think "I survived!"

One of the things that probably makes the Board slow for the girls in the south is Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras. To go to a grocery store now is like going just before Thanksgiving or Christmas!! Everyone is either shopping for supplies or cooking those supplies!!!!

Still have to get things done between Olympic events!!!!!

Take care. sef

Good Monday Everyone!

Hope the start of your week has been good thus far.

Woke up feeling just as crummy as I did all night long. Felt nauseaus and can't figure out why. Between that and terrible gas (Eli says I'm nauseaus due to lack of oxygen from the terrible gas fumes I'm emitting!), I haven't been feeling up to par. Needless to say, I did NOT get in my Monday morning walk-and this is one I NEVER miss! I crawled right back into bed instead. Feeling a bit better now, but still not 100%-tired.

I think the nauseas may be due to too many sugar grams. Even though I'm not cheating on non-SB LEGAL FOODS, I think too many "SB LEGAL GOODIES" have flooded my system with too many grams of sugar which I am not able to handle, it seems, and for good reason! Also, I think it's probably effected me in such a manner because being OP 100% for almost 2 years has changed my system to a point that maybe I can't handle these types of amounts like I used to before SB-again, not bad-but I wonder if I had cheated a bit along the way, if I'd be feeling the same-makes you wonder!

So, with not feeling up to par, I'm thirsty, but not hungry, so I will venture to drink water moreso today and definitely whatever I eat will be totally OP without any SB LEGAL goodies! I'm going cold turkey for a while with the goodies, I don't care if they are legal or not!

AND, I did NOT weigh myself this morning and I am NOT having withdrawls!!!! Let's see what I decide come WIW!

Board seems slow today-unusual for us!! Well, at least it will let me play catch-up!

Geez, it's not 6pm and I can't believe I've gotten to my first reply! Okay, I've finally got some computer time...

QUILTER, so you did the fluff and cut for nothing? MIL does sound like a hoot and you are so lucky to have a good relationship with her-it's unusual I think, esp. nowadays. I get the WHOLE FOODS brand of triscuits and though I rarely eat them (I think the box I currently have unopened has passed it's exp. date), they are good for nachos. I think I like to bake ONLY SB legal stuff, not that I'd bake anything but that these days since I know if I did I'd certainly eat it. Not sure if those cookies are making me gassy or not, but whatever it is, it's staying with me!!!

DARAMUS, maybe all this coffee is what's causing you to lose sleep at night? My opinion on the JAMBA JUICE, first, good that you've only had this twice in 6 weeks, second, the carbs are high and much of that is from the sugars in the fruits they must use. If you can curtail that to only once in a blue moon and you REALLY want it, then I'm sure it's not going to be a big problem, but personally, I wouldn't drink it. I'd much rather have the fruit. The calories are high as well-but then again, you don't seem like you are eating much to begin with.

BOB, what time would you leave on Friday if you got off early from work? I'll let you know next week, have to see what all is going to be planned for the weekend. Was thinking about maybe trying to do a lunch like we did at SOLS house, but at the eating area at the hotel, which is nice-have to see what they say about it-any thoughts? Eli has not even heard about that frapp. you mentioned! He says you must be confused!!!!!!!!! LOL! Has he got you pegged???

SHEANN, did you eat enough today? One day won't kill you, but don't make a habit of it othewise it's going to be counter-productive and you won't be doing any happy dances! Interesting sub. you made with the cookie recipe.

FROG, sounds like a great friend to make everything SB LEGAL with you in mind!! As you probably read above, feeling tired, but otherwise fine-just wish I could find out for certain why. Eating is great today, but I'm getting hungry now and night is the worse time for me.

SOL, hop Mrs. Meister is feeling better today! So when was his sex change operation?

RED1, sounds like you are going to be hosting a great party for your GD! Are you going over to Vegas for your son's wedding? Are they getting married at a casino or a chapel? On the veggie question-I'm one of the guilty ones that doesn't add veggies to their menu enough-I hate cooking them as they always come out crappy and Eli says they taste like hospital food, but it's a good way to fill you up and get in the nutrients you need PLUS the fiber. What are you putting in your yogurt smoothies? Also, are you sure you are eating enough? That could be a problem if you are stalling, but if you've loss a lot of weight in a short period of time, could be your body just giving itself some time to play catch up.

JRED, CONGRATS on 2 more pounds down the drain!!! I'm sure I don't have a thyroid problem, at least I didn't last year-nope, I'm sure it's a combo of eating too many SB LEGAL GOODIES, not enough wayer and hormone havoc! Just have to be patient and let my body decide on it's own when it wants to unleash those extra pounds.

BUS, I don't think even April would allow me to sleep in her stable the way I've been lately!! Loved the picture!!!!!!!!!!

BETH, I second that WOO HOO! 5lbs down is awesome-WTG! I too am proud of how you handled that awful food at the party-isn't it nice to not have food control you, but you control the food you eat!?! I guess you could have Slim Jims (not sure what's in them) and Pork Skins, but do you REALLY want to eat that stuff??????? I'd much rather go for something more healthy and satisfying. If you think about it, say hypothetically a SJ has 150 calories and 3 grams of fat, just for that little stick of so-called meat. I'd much rather have 3 ounces of chicken breast which is about the same calories and fat. Just my opinion;) I'd suggest trying the WW SPONGE CAKE, or the BLUEBERRY BUCKLE. If you can find the FEARN CAROB or SPICE CAKE MIX, that's really easy to make and all you need is agave, water, 1 egg, and oil-but I found substituting sf applesauce for the oil amount, then adding 1tbl of oil still makes a great cake! Very yummy! There's lots of easy recipes on the board that doesn't require much-there's one for PECAN BARS which I think are good, and easy!

HAPPY, samples of agave will be in the mail to you tomorrow-going to the PO to personally put it in there-let me know when it arrives!!!!

SEF, trust me, ask my kids, they'll tell you really how bad my cooking is. Though I do enjoy baking since I've discovered the agave-and I've enjoyed what I've made a wee bit too much, so will have to cut back a little bit on that. I'm not ready for menopause! I think hitting 40 wasn't a big deal, but to have this so early, I'm not liking it if this is the start of this all, not liking it one bit!!!! Only thing I will like about it will probably be not worried about getting pregnant! Never heard of LUNDIGRA!!!

POOH, I think weekends are harder for most because we are home more and around the fridge more-unlike weekdays for those who work and keep themselves occupied mentally and physically. Honestly, this WOE should NOT be much more expensive than eating the old way, not drinking soda, eating frozen meals, etc. etc has let me buy other things in return. I do spend a little more on this WOE, but you can do it with spending a little or a lot. Many people just don't have certain foods available to them in their area that would make the variety bigger, so they do with what they have and really don't spend much more than average-certainly, compared to those on Atkins, we save $$$ big time!

VESNOID, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! Glad you've joined us and certainly glad to see ANOTHER FLORIDIAN ON THE BOARD!!! Okay, I keep thinking there's something in the water here in Florida, being we have so many from the Sunshine State on the board, but now I'm thinking it must be something in the water up near Mickey Town!! there's 6 of you from the central Fl area now. I have to say, one of the reasons I chose SB over other diets was because I could eat nuts, olives, avocados, etc, unlike other diets. I too love this WOE and what it's done for me. Please, don't hesitate to ask us any questions you may have, not matter how stupid or insignificant they may seem-this is a learning experience and we are all still learning but willing to help answer your questions with the knowledge we've all learned thus far. Hope you will be able to join us in O-town come March!!! Once again WELCOME!!!

ZANNE, yep, board is unusually slow, but hasn't been down, not sure where the heck everyone is on this Monday. Good for you for getting in your exercise despite being tired-wish I could of said the same-hoping tomorrow will be better for me.

Time for me to skiddadle and start dinner for the kids-frozen manicotti-can't screw that up, or can I???

Please remember, TOMORROW NIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST Hope to see you all there. I do have a meeting tomorrow night at Michael's school, so just in case I'm not home on time, I should be home sometime soon.

Hope you have a great evening!

Wow--where is everyone? I disappear for the weekend and everyone else disappears too. I guess there is simply no use signing on if I'm not here! Well I'm back, so everyone can come back now!

Did everyone see Tiger fly during the OLympic opening ceremonies Friday night? Tiger is Auburn's beautiful Golden Eagle. Word got around town last week that she was going to fly and she was great! WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!

I wasn't so good this weekend. One of the candidates left a box of a half dozen Krispy kremes in front of everyone's door in the hotel, both saturday and sunday mornings. Those things are evil:devil: . I'm afraid I will have much to repent from on Wednesday!

But Lent begins Wed and that is a serious commitment for me--so I'm ready!

Got to go--time to watch the iceskating--and oh yes--make some dinner.

Have a good evening everyone!

hi everyone,

well the dreaded girl scout cookies are in my living room! my little darling has sold over 150 boxes of the sugar, calorie filled things! but I WILL SURVIVE! i am going to make a sugar free alternative of some kind tonite. and on my day off tomorrow have scheduled a day of beauty to keep me out of the house until sarah gets home from school to deliver the treats. i am going for a new "do" and maybe a manicure to celebrate my improved way of eating!

the football banquet at the university of central florida went very well. the food was o.k. chicken, salad and vegies were legal. of course the stuff i could not have looked wonderful, the rolls, cute little roasted potatoes and to-die-for new york cheesecake BUT again I SURVIVED! i managed to stay sb legal, who would have ever thought? the big guy looked so nice in his new duds, and even nicer when they announced during the award presentation that he was the scout team offensive player of the year! tears filled my eyes , i was sooo proud of him, the head coach later told us he expects big things from him and that he hopes we will be able to watch him play on sunday afternoons and monday nights in the future! he also made the dean's list for the last semester (not bad for a kid who almost flunked kindergarten!) needless to say i am a very proud BIG KNIGHTS MOMMA!

hope everyone who has not been feeling well has a better week,
am looking forward tochat tomorrow night with my new nails and hairdo!

take care, welcome to the newcomers!

See.. I'm quiet for a day and the board is slow... told ya it's my big mouth ;)

Today was hectic... I did find 4 more bottles of Agave today and bought it!! It's $2.99 for 8 oz... can you get it any cheaper Deb.. or at least comparable with s/h? If so DH said I can buy a whole case... he tasted it and he LIKES it, so I'm gonna be using more than I thought... I have 8 bottles.

Got some more Aunt Gussies Biscotti... they were out of almond, so I got Hazelnut.. it's not bad, but I'd rather have the almond... but that may be a good thing ;)

I went out today and bought some Vanilla Extract, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Baking Powder, Almond Extract.... OK... do you see how LITTLE I've ever cooked before? I couldn't bake ANYTHING on the recipe boards because I did'nt have ANYTHING!!!

Forgot the Cream Cheese, and the Pumpkin for the cheesecake and the muffins... and so I still have yet to cook anything because those were the things I was gonna make. Go figure :dizzy:

OK... I have a quick WOE question... Deb - in answer to you.. I like pork skins..LOL, so I'd rather have them sometimes than a chicken breast (it's the redneck girl in me, sorry) If we find something, like sandwich meat or really anything, and it has sugar on the label, but it has less than 3g per serving, than it's legal (assuming all other ingredients are legal)? I'm just confused on that... what is and isn't legal even if it has sugar/dextrose/whatever word they use.
I also have a hard time with what are good/bad carbs.

What is a starchy carb?? I know we should limit to 2-3 starchy carbs a day.. but what is that? Is my Shredded Wheat cereal a starchy carb? Triscuits?

OK... I've asked enough to keep everyone busy and the board hopping....

Oh yeah... My son (he'll be 10 in March) was working on a drawing for a contest, and the art teacher pulled the best 2 artists out of each 4th grade class for extra art classes this week to work on their contest drawing... and my son was the one in his class to get pulled!!! (He's a straight A student too!!!) SO anyway... small brag :) And so the youngest doesn't feel left out.. He'll be 5 next monday, and he wrote me a valentines card all by himself yesterday... and spelled it all right... so small brag for him too ;)

BTW - A little info ya didn't ask for, didn't need, might not want, but I'm gonna give ya anyway.... TOM finally came today... and I was still down that 5 lbs... sooooooo, after it goes away I'm expecting a great WISaturday (since that's the day I have access to a scale..lolol!!)

OK.. I'm really going now :)

Hi Everybody! Well, I sat here all night and watched three straight hours of tv. Miss Maddie and I have been glued to the Westminster Kennel Club show, so that's why I haven't written. So sorry to ignore you all, but it's hard to pull my eyes off the screen and all those gorgeous doggies!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and a better than tolerable Monday. Mine started a little shakey, but has leveled out nicely. Eating was really good today. Absolutely no snacking! Yippee and yeehaw!!! The weekdays are so much easier.

Tomorrow is our big event, The corporate Spelling Bee. Starts at 1 p.m. so we will be busy all morning long setting up for it. Don't know what my eating opportunities will be. I do know that we are having lots of cheese and veggies and fruit. So that sounds pretty safe.

I'll read and post tomorrow. You all be good now!
Take care.

Hope you all had a great day!! This is great getting know all of you and getting support while I loose weight. When I tried SB a year ago I didn't know about the support boards. I may have stuck with it if I had known.

Deb- This is what I had to eat today.
B-Yogurt Smoothie (1c.Plain Yogurt,1/2c. frozen berries, a smig of milk, 1/2tsp. vanilla, 2-3 packs of splenda)
S- Handful of mixed nuts
L- Pita Pizza (spead with homemade hummas, a few pepperonis and small amout of cheese), Serving of Broccoli
S- Orange
D- Grilled chicken breast, 1/4 Acorn Squash, Salad
Sweets- Legal Apple Crisp about 1/2c.

Yes I am going to Las Vegas. It should be a great time. There will be about 30 of us there to celebrate. They are going to renew their vows next May and have a huge wedding. They are going to Humbolt State and wanted to get married before they left. They didn't want to live together not married. I can repect that.

Vesnoid - Welcome I am a newcomer too.

It sounds as if most of you live near each other and that you are planning a get together. Do you meet with each other often? Are there those that travel long distance to join. Maybe someday. I have been to FL once. It was this past December for a training class in Orlando. You have to understand when I say I missed home. I am very used to mountains and wide open space. We have alot of it here. I am not a city girl. I like to visit but only for a short while. I am hoping to get to go back in August for another class.

Well it is time to go. I guess I am getting the hang of this. I sould go on forever.

Have a good evening. To all who are watching the olympics I hope you have a great night.

Evening Everyone!

I know it's late but I've been glued to the tv watching skating. I am so dissappointed. Canada should have won the gold. Judges put them in second. I think even the Russians who won first were a bit uncomfortable with the situation.

Welcome Vesnoid. You have come to the right place. Lots of support. Any questions? You will be sure to get your answers here.

Debbie: My cookies were not very good. I didn't put enough sweetner in them. My mom and granddaughter thought they were good though. The sweetner "Adkins Brand" is ok but very expensive $5.99 a small bottle.

Everyone have a great evening. Or should I say "Sleep Tight".

Oh, and I forgot who mentioned the pork skins. I love em too. Just had a few this evening.

HiedieHo All!!!!!

They was robbed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What is wrong with the judges!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Canadians did a clean program, the Russians had four, count 'em, four boggles! And they get the gold. Two judges, China & somebody, gave the Russians higher points in presentation! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!

My index finger is tired from switching channels to peek at the dog show!

Going back for the recap and Leno shows now. Just had to vent.

To all our Canadian friends we are so sorry your pair got robbed!!!! Can't blame the skaters, just the dumb judges!!!!

Take care, Shirley

ARE YOU READY?????????
16 DAYS TILL REGISTRATION FOR THE WDW HALF MARATHON!!!!!!!!!

I'm still here. Hubby is sound asleep and I'm having to come in to work early to finish reports. everyone wants eveyrthing RIGHT NOW! Which is bad for me since i'm an over-achiever and I want them to be able to have what they want when they want it.

Meister is still feeling ooky so it didn't take much to convince him that he needs to stay home again today. I sure hope he's feeling better soon! Not just for his sake, but mine too!

Today I have an appointment with DR. FUNK about my feet. Yep, that's his name. How could I not choose a podiatrist with that name?!?

We also have a team lunch with the guy our boss wants to hire for the open position. They say he reminds them of Jim Carrey, so I guess I'll be the only girl on the team and surrounded by clowns. Sure does make work interesting. We're going to Olive Garden. Not too excited about that.

WELCOME VESNOID!! I'm in O-town - GATORGAL is in O-town, BKM and ZSU ZSU and HAPPY are very close! I hope you'll join us when MARIE comes down from Canada in MARCH in 24 DAYS!!!

DEBBIE Got your e-mail and I'll respond - I promise! Vince has bid on a racing bike on EBay. Will be interesting to see how that turns out.

FILLISE - Don't know if I'd have been able to resist the KK either. :o Drink LOTS of water ad hopefully that'll offset some of it.

CALL THE COPS!!! THE CANADIANS HAVE BEEN ROBBED! ROBBED, I TELL YA!! HAD THAT GOLD MEDAL FLAT OUT STOLEN FROM THEM!! I'M SOOOO PEEEVED!! CHECK THE POCKETS OF THEM JUDGES FOR RUBLES! IS THAT RUSSIAN THONGS THEY'RE WEARING?!?!

THAT AIN'T RIGHT!!

SEND DOWN THE MOUNTIES! THAT WAS BLATANT ROBBERY AND POLITICKIN' MAY THEY ALL BE SMOOTHERED IN MAPLE LEAVES! ON TO THE HOCKEY!. Of course, since I was parked in front of the TV in my Team Canada sweatshirt and my maple leaf hat( it's real cute, kinda looks like a rooster head), maybe I'm a little biased, but it does seem like even the Russians looked embarrassed.

Fillise- your eagle was wonderful!

gotta get ds to school, only time for a short rant. Will post later.

Howdy!

I am posting my replies in the morning, when I get a couple of minutes from work. Bad girl.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I am sure I will get into the swing of things soon enough!

Yesterday I discovered an internet site called www.fitday.com, where you input all your food intake in one day, and then get a break down of what you've eaten in that day.

I believe that on SB you are supposed to have 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fats. After trying my darnest to include as much stuff and as accurately as possibly, this is what was a total (give or take 100 ckal)

35% carb > 147g (20 of which was fiber)
35 % fat > 58 g
30 % protein > 110 g

1511 cKal

I am not quite sure, how the grams correspond to the percentage
:?: but perhaps some of you can try out the site and tell me.

Into this I didn't count the CAKE (1 measly scrawny piece), which put me on a major sugar crave for hours. i thought I would go bonkers!!!!! So I snacked on Hummus and waited for it to go away. :(

I wasn't very tired yesterday, just lazy. I really had to whack myself around a little to go and do some work.
I make pottery - and in a couple of weeks the studio I go to, is organizing a PIT FIRING. You dig a HUGE hole, put in pottery, cover it with combustible materials, set it on fire....
then next day, you dig it out and have a great party while doing it!
Anyway, I trimmed some pots and made 2 more! I really have to make at least 10 or so, but am soooooooo lazy. It's just that I don't like to make pre-planned stuff, or a lot of it at the same time.
Well, I'll get there.

Oh - I also did my AB roller last night. And some 10lb weights. YES! (while watching Ally McBeal)
I love to watch the olympics while I'm throwing, though. Yesterday, it was snowboarding! How about that Mohawk, huh?

This morning I also posted some stuff on the SB legal foods board, if some of you want to check out the sweetener called STEVIA. If it's new, you may want to try it, and if you know it, any info would be welcome. It also contains fiber! Fiber good, right?

Ta ta!

Good Tuesday Morning All:wave:

After a good restful sleep you'd think I'd wake up to feeling refreshed and energized-NOT! Once again, woke up feeling tired an drained. Didn't want to go for my walk but Eli said GO!, so I pushed myself out there and did surprisingly well, considering how I was feeling. Did the full 4.5 miles in 45:13:) Of course I'm happy that I went now, but getting the get up and go to go out wasn't easy today.

Was pissed today to find not 1, but 3 e-mails from the same stupid person about those SB COOKIES. She/He got my and many other e-mails off the ST BOARD, where I rarley post, but now, I will NOT put in my e-mail address anymore. I hope these cookies flop and they have to use them as paperweights!

Eli is off today, so most likely we'll head up to Broward, but for a short day, have to get the kids at school. Michael is staying after, so don't have to be back until 3:30pm to be in time to get Lauren.

Okay, I sorta got the gist of the Canadians being robbed, but I didn't see it-was in bed sound a sleep, I suppose-so what happened that got everyones undies in a bind????????

FILLISE, whatever candidate left those doughnuts in front of the door, wouldn't get my vote!!!!!!! Nope, he/she should of left $$$$$, that's the way to get votes, not with doughnuts, tell them that's from school days, to grow up!!! Lent is almost here-so pray tell, what exactly do you have to give up???

BIGK, I'm sure you'll be looking and feeling MAHVELOUS after your day of beauty!!! Enjoy yourself. What are you planning to make today get your mind off those GS cookies?? Congrats to you and your son for being named SCOUNT TEAM OFFENSIVE LPAYER OF THE YEAR!!!! Mind you, I haven't a clue what that is, but CONGRATULATIONS!! I know those who follow FB surely do! And to get on the Dean's List, well you SHOULD be proud!!!! Did you see where ROSALIE & HAPPY want you to get the agave for them. If you can't get it anymore, let them know and then they can let me know if they want me to get it for them.

BETH, I can get the agave for $2.59 a bottle, BUT, BIGK last time got it for $2.09 a bottle when you got it by the case, so you may want to e-mail Chris directly and ask her-but the shipping is approx $9.00, so figure it out, it's not really saving all that much after shipping. BUT, if you can't get anymore, then of course, it's worth it!!! It's very hard to find cold cuts that don't have some kind of sugar in it-most have dextrose, but according to SB RULES, if it's 3grams of sugar or less per serving, it's okay-but I'd try to steer clear of it if you are able. There are cold cuts out there that have no sugars, but they sure aren't easy to find. Anyhow, most don't have more than 1gram per serving, so that should be okay. Starchy carbs are bread, rice, pasta, cereal, crackers, sweet potato, stuff like that. CONGRATS to the budding artist!! Brag away, you've earned the right-you have kids:D Hey, congrats on TOM and still being down-I know the feeling!!

BOB, will call you soon and talk about the plans for O-town. Eli wants me to ask you if these are true Starbucks or ones in Barnes and Nobles-I take it they are regular SB. He can't believe this is true and doesn't understand how they can do that-maybe a test market? Glad to hear ANN is coming with us, I think she's sweet!:) Oh, and Eli says to tell you, when we bunk together, you'll surely be lacking enough oxygen!!!!!!!!

Okay, I'm being yelled at to get in the shower (loving yell though), so I'll have to finish my replies to everyone sometime later.

Hope to see you all at CHAT TONIGHT AT 9:15PM EST and I wish you all luck tomorrow for WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!! I include myself, who needs lots of luck!!!!!!!

Have a great day!

Hello Ladies

Haven't been on in quite sometime and I've been very busy. School is keeping busy everyday along with the kids. I've been misbehaving, so Deb you can yell at me. I haven't gained any weight back, but did miss last week at the gym. Start back today and will probably only make it twice this week. Can't wait until Spring, so I can go jogging and bike riding again.

I just thought I'd check in with all you ladies. I'm going to check out the recipes, to see if there is any I don't have.

Take Care.

Deb- Tell Eli they ran those free coupons here too only at regular Starbucks stores- not the bookstore ones. I stayed away! So BOB didn't fantasize it.

Hello Vesnoid- Welcome to the board. Sounds like you've got the WOE down. I know quite a few people use fitday here and on others boards where I post, but it find it annoying rather than helpful. Just journaling every once in a while is more helpful to me.

Sol- Hope Dr. Funk can help you!

Fillise- I've never had a Krispy Kreme doughnut, and don't want to start now, but I really don't understand what the mania is all about. Did you eat them? Are they any different than any other doughnut? Gotta say, after working in a Dunkin Donuts as a teenager, that's one no-no food that doesn't tempt me in the least.

Red1- Welcome!

Off to the gym- I have an unexpected morning off, then a dentist appointment later. Yuck.

I am back from VC!
I have lost my 1st OFFICAIL 10 POUNDS!!!!!!!
I am so excited. I had to take my rings off because they were falling off, that is a great feeling. Now I am working on the next 10!!!!!!!!!
I was bad this weekend though, I had real ice cream and real cake! It was my sons birthday, I had to have a little bit. I had been so good till then, and now its hard to get back OP. I will not be cheating again anytime soon. I am in a snakcing mood and can not get out of it. Atleast I am eating healthy snacks, like fruit and nuts.

I watched the skating, I can not believe that the judges gave the gold to the Russians, they seemed so stiff and the skating did not flow well at all, not to mention all the mistakes!!!!!!!!
The Canadian team was crushed! I cried with them.

Anyway, enough chatting, I am at work, so I have to get back to it.

Good morning everyone! It's still lind of slow this week--everyone (but Deb) must be watching the Olympics!

TOM is here and I am hunched over the computer as I am all cramped up. Today will likely be the worst of it--but am retaining water.

Deb--Unfortunatly the candidate that left the donughts is probably going to be one of my clients! Though, yes, cash would have been better!:o Actually, I don't give anything up for Lent that I haven't already given up (I mean--what's left???). But, last year over the holidays I had gotten a little sloppy and let a few things creep in that shouldn't have and was eating more of the SB legal stuff than I should have. For Lent, my SB observance was strict. Nothing that was not SB legal and nothing SB legal in overabundance! The same thing happened over the holidays this year--and of course this past weekend, so Lent gets me back on the very straight and narrow. I will admit though, one of the reasons I gave into the doughnuts was because I knew Lent was comming--and in my twisted logic--I had to actually have had something before I could "give it up."

Vesnoid--Welcome! A lot of us on the board use or have used fitday. I did for a while, but don't anymore because I found I was thinking about food constantly--and when I think about it, I want it! But a lot of folks really find it helpful, so if it works for you I think it is great!

Red1--Welcome to you as well! I hope you have a good trip to Vegas. Deb will be after you to hit Trader Vic's for her!

Frog--I know, i know, bad, bad, fillise. :^:

Narda--It was a proud moment Friday night--let me tell you! The town is still buzzing over Tiger's flight! I've got me an avacodo ripening in the kitchen! Yum.

To everyone else--Yes them Canadian sketers were ROBBED!!!!! I'm not even sure I'm going to be able to watch the rest of the figure skating--especially the women's. It just gets me riled when this stuff happens!

Deb again--I almost never list my email on the ST board for the exact reason you mentioned. I appreciate you keeping those people off this board!

Got to go--

Susan

Well... TOM is here in full force, and I have cramps for the first time in years... and it's heavy... For anyone who I didn't just gross out... did your TOM change the first time you had it after starting SB? Could it be that... or am I just noticing it more since I'm not shoveling in the Caffiene and Chocolate and Sugar to make myself feel better? LOL!

DEB - Thanks for the WTGs ... they mean alot!!! Thanks for the heads up on the agave too... I do need more... Who should I Email? I'd love to order a case at the $2.09 price!!! I did remember to get the rest of the ingredients today for the cheesecake.. I'm making it on Sunday, because Monday is my youngest DS' birthday and I want something legal to eat. I managed to not eat any of the ice cream and cake at his first party... but darnit this time I want something of my OWN!

BKM - Is that you that can get that agave for $2.09 a case + SH? If so I'd love to get with you about ordering some. I don't know your EMail... mine is DavesGirl2374@aol.com... can we get me an order in? I need MOREEEEEEE... LOL. I think I replaced my sugar addiction with agave. Even DH likes it.

OK... well I'm off to do my mile... before the kids get home and I make a million excuses. It's 50 degrees and sunny so I'll be glad I got the air. Might make the cramps feel better also, cause the 5 aleve I've had today sure havent... might have to resort to a few bites of the Dark Chocolate Carbolite bar I have stashed ;)

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Tuesday :) Tomorrow I"ll try not to feel left out for WIW... lol! Although with TOM here, I'm glad I don't have a scale... I'd probably CRY!

hi all,

just a quick post before i deliver all those girl scout cookies i have been whining about! i picked up another case of agave at the health food store i go to and the price has gone up a little. they order it from a distributor called tree of life? anyway it comes to them at $2.99 a bottle, then they give me a case discount which would take it down to $2.39 a bottle. Rosalie and Sue let me know if you still want me to get some for you and if so how many (or a case?) i will bring them with me to orlando in march. Beth i am not sure about the shipping costs for this, it might be cheaper to get it individually at your health food store, i know that our wild oats carries it at $2.99 for an 8 oz. bottle.

i guess MERV and Rosie have perhaps caused a run on agave, what will we do!

will try to get to chat later,

chris

Hi everyone. I'm a Newbie that's been lurking around this board for a while and decided to just jump right in. I started SB 01/01/02 and have lost about 12 pounds. The biggest payoff has been in the way I feel. I've lost those afternoon "draggies" and have a lot more energy. I started this because hubbie was doing Atkins and wanted to do something along with him, but felt lousy on Atkins. This just seems like an overall healthy WOE.

Debelli, I made your cheesecake and it was wonderful!

I guess that's it for now. Thanks in advance for the support and help.

Hello everyone, welcome newbies!

Debelli - there is a microwave at work in the conference room. However, they're always having a conference when I find time to eat! There's also a microwave in cafeteria area. It's just really hard now to go downstairs, nuke something, and not get waylaid with something else before the food gets cold. So, salads have been my mainstay. I'm working on my schedule so I can have a lunch hour. It's hard to make changes, when you have to consider everyone's schedules.

Ok, let's just say I'm the cynical one in the group. The russian team's female skater (sorry, can't remember her name) was in a horrible accident in '96. She ended up with an skate blade in her head, went into emergency brain surgery and almost died. She came back to skate in '98. Now prior to the long program, in the warmup, the canadian female skater (Sales) bumped into Anton, the russian male skater. Both Sales and Anton went down. Supposedly, all of the skaters were freaked out. It certainly showed in the russian skater's program, they were not theirselves (compared to the short program). Sales seemed freaked but recovered VERY quickly. Yes, the canadian team skated flawlessly, and the russians did not (who could blame the female after her past injuries). Now, again, I'll probably get some hate invectives, but I couldn't help but think of Tanya Harding and the deliberate injury inflicted on her competitor Nancy Kerrigan. Perhaps the judges were thinking the same thing. I don't know the true situation, but if I were a judge and thought something was suspicious, would I vote for the canadians? Frankly, I believe they deserved the gold - they were perfect. But the situation definitely caused me to pause while I watched the performance. :?: So, there's the REST of the story.

Well, I have to go, lunchtime is over. :)

Each of us has different reasons for adapting to a low glycemic way of eating, but together we can help one another to make good and successful choices that will help each of us to be healthier.

As some of you know, I changed my eating habits a little over a year ago. SugarBusters! was my avenue to improve my health. My doctor prescribed a lifestyle change and suggested I use the SugarBusters! book as an educational tool to learn about eating low glycemic. He reasoned that if I excluded the triggers that caused my gastritis and GERD, as well as, weight reduction, that maybe some day I could be without medication for my stomach, in addition, to finding some relief from my arthritic knees.

1 year later I find myself at 165 lbs., 11 lbs above my lowest weight last year, but 15 lbs. less than my starting weight of 180 lbs. I have had my ups and downs and struggled with emotionally backed sugar binges. I've had my health challenges all in relation to my mouth and related complications. When the people who sought me out to learn about SugarBusters! didn't keep on trying and found excuses ... I struggled with being successful. My one time partner fell completely off the wagon and I felt like I had failed her too. This not a pity party, the point is I know today something I knew but wasn't paying any attention to then. It's taking me a long time to figure this out. I've talked about it, but it's just never sunk in, until very recently (specifically after Deb's post from last week). I can't change anyone or make them do something they do not want to do or are not ready for. I need to pay attention to me, although I work better in a successful team than I do with a team isn't focused on their goal, I need to keep my goals in focus constantly. I know that at 155 I felt my best, but I also know that it's not just about what I weigh anymore, it's about how I feel physically, mentally, and spiritually. My goal for this year is to get back down to 155 at whatever pace it takes. I want to look at what causes me to binge out of control at times and find ways to change this behavior. I want to share my experiences with people who are also trying to live a healthier life and who want to share with me.

This is where I'm at. I am looking forward to sharing this with all of you. I have adapted my eating habits to healthier eating and it can be done without having to count every last calorie or having to eat rabbit food and no other for the rest of your life. I'm ready now to address the more complex issues of why I need to find comfort in my food and how to resolve those issues.

Thank you Deb for showing me the way.

Hi

I found it very depressing last night that the Canadians did not get the gold. I think they deserved it. I also find it disappointing that anyone would think that the collision on the ice before the skate could have been deliberate. Accidents do happen and why would someone do that deliberately when they are likely to injure themselves and affect there own skate. JMHO.

BMK - Yes I would very much like you to get me two cases of agave if you don't mind. If this is too much for you to get just let me know and I will ask Deb to get me one case. I was hoping to get a case from a Canadian on line site but they are out of stock and who knows if they will get any more. Looking forward to seeing you all next month.

Gotta run - have to leave for badminton in a few minutes.

Marie.

I have to say that I will not be on long tonight and will probably miss the chat. I am totally 100% addicted to the Westminster Kennel Club show. I am already bathed and pajamaed and have taken up residence on the couch in eager anticipation. Yes, I’ll admit it . . . I’m totally gaga over our doggy friends. Here’s a little secret, Maddie thinks she is going to win Best in Show. But she will win at this house.

Before I forget . . . I got email from our Viv and she said to send you all her greetings and best wishes for a wonderful week. She is so busy and has NO TIME to get on the board. She apologizes and says she’ll try to be back on board ASAP. Also said to tell you that she’ s been OP like a good little SBer.

SOL---Hope your honey is feeling better soon. Tell him I’m sending some special good wishes with an extra dosage of vitamin C. I laughed at the name of your podiatrist! Hope you liked him better than his name.

DEB---Hey, chick!!! Sorry to hear that you don’t have any of the “get up and goes”! I’m so proud of you that you got out there and did your morning “thang.” You are awesome. Are you getting emails you don’t want? I wonder if you can put a block on specific addresses.

PRAVDA---WTG on the first TEN POUNDS!!!!! Awesome job!!! You are doing really well. Keep it up!!!!!

BETH---Hey, girlfriend, I feel your pain. Hope that old TOM heads on out of town as quickly as it came rolling in. I don’t remember having a change in my period after starting SB. But perhaps some others can shed light on that question.

TRISHALOO---WELCOME, WELCOME, WELCOME. So glad you decided to join us and let us meet you. I think you should be jumping for joy that you’ve already lost 12 pounds in less than two months. That’s really GREAT!!! You must be doing it right.

BOB---So did you perchance get to meet any of those groovy looking Mounties as they passed by their house. The neighborly thing to do would be to invite one or two (of the best looking ones) into your home for a bit of nourishment. Yes, Maddie and I are watching. Can’t wait for the Skeeters and the Maddies to strut their stuff.

ROSALIE---Hope your badminton goes well. I forgot to thank you for your kind words from last week. You are always so sweet. Are you getting so ultra excited about the big vacation??? I’m getting excited for you.

Okay, everybody, it’s time for the sporting group. Oh, I could just squeeze that golden retriever all night he/she’s so adorable!!! Gotta go. I like to pretend that Maddie and I are trying to pick out a little brother or sister for her. Yes, it’s weird, but good clean fun.

Everybody have a wonderful Wednesday. Oh my gosh . . . I almost forgot to tell you that the Bee went sooooooo well today. Everybody had such fun. You all absolutely would NOT believe some of the incredibly difficult words that these people spelled today. I was so thrilled with everyone and their enthusiasm. Not sure exactly how much money we made. But more than money, hopefully, some people will be inspired to become volunteer tutors. That’s what it’s all about!!!

Good night, Friends!

Hi Everyone ;)
Well my relative finally went home and I have my computer back! I am dead dog tired from staying up too late entertaining him.

Deb:So what so far are the Orlando Plans? My son has t-ball in the morning (which I guess I could skip, if its just practice) but I have to be back in town by 4pm because of my niece's 1st birthday party! Are you staying over Friday night or Saturday night? Ever gone to eat at the melting pot? It's a fondue restaurant in Longwood (yummy). I am anxiously awaiting the sample of Agave - what should I do with it? Cook, Bake, coffee???Also, you mentioned Starbucks coffee - I have never had starbucks coffee. I have only really started drinking coffee in the last 6 months - used to use Vanilla creamer but not anymore! Now just half/half and splenda. So I guess my order is for plain since I am somewhat a coffee virgin :o !

All you now experiencing TOM: how bizarre, me too - what's up with that? Good thing we don't all work togeter!

Pravda: Congratulations on your 10lbs!!!!!!!!! I can't wait until I can say that! Keep up the good work. Hope you enjoyed the cake and ice cream :)

BKM: Are you going to be the Agave queen and bring us all some? I have never tried it, but looking forward to. Do you use it just like sugar? Congratulations on your sons honors! I'm sure it feels good to be a proud mama!

Trish: Welcome to this site. You will certainly enjoy everyone here. Congratulations on your 12lb loss! That is great. Any questions you have, just ask and you'll get many replies!

Quilter: Enjoy those dogs!

Sol: I had to laugh about the Docs name - There used to be a gynecologist in my town name Dr. Hand :o Now wouldn't you just love to go to him!

Ok all, well have a good night and great day tomorrow!

Want to get this on the board before my time alloted is over.

Thanks to BUSDEB & FROG for coming in for chat. I know you are all glued to the boob-tube, so I'll forgive you THIS WEEK!

QUILTER, on behalf of all of us, we forgive you for watching so much TV this weekend, we understand Maddie needs some quality time as well and has HER shows to watch. How did the Spelling Bee go??? How did your eating go???

FROG, did you win at Keeno?? You're going to HAVE to teach those of us who haven't a clue, how to play in NC!!

RED1, wish you'd known about us too-we've been around for almost 2 years now. Your yogurt smoothie sounds fine-so enjoy! Okay, many of us eat hummus on this board-so welcome to the stinky crowd, but making a pizza out of it, that's a first! Our family eats hummus probably 4 times a week-it's a staple item in our house. Where are they having the wedding in Vegas?? Sounds like a blast! Many of us live in the South, with many of us living in Florida. We just got together Jan 5th and are doing it again March 9th to go see ROSALIE who's coming for vacation from Canada. I will drive as far up as Orlando to meet any of the gals who come down, like FROG did from NC last month. I've been fortunate enough to meet 11 gals from the board so far and look forward to meeting more next month-and THEN I get to meet MEL at the end of the month when she comes down from PA to the county only an hour away-it's always a blast to meet others-check out our PHOTO ALBUM BOARD to see some of the pics from past get togethers. I have also been out to CA. to meet LDBLOND & NANCEMEISTER, who so graciously opened her home up to Eli and I for 4 nights!!!! We are planning a SB GET TOGETHER in OCT. 2002 in North Carolina-hope you can make it!!!!! FROG is getting us a house to stay in on the beach up there!!!

SHEANN, cookies couldn't of been all that bad if the family liked them. I'm sure as you get more familiar with baking the SB way, you'll find something that suits your fancy ;)

SEF, are your panties in a wad over the Canadians being robbed??;)

SOL, I can't see VINCE easily agreeing to stay home and away from work, so he really must be feeling icky! How did the visit with DR. FUNK go? What a name!!!!!!! LOL!! Olive Garden, icky-don't like that place-just MHO:) When will the Ebay auction end-tell Vince GOOD LUCK!

MEL, you just have to wear that hat when you come down here, you'll feel right at home! Broward has more Canadians than Floridians it seems in the winter!!!! Hmmm, interesting on that SB promo-he hasn't heard a thing about it-it's odd.

VESNOID, glad you found the fitday site-many people use that site-I personally like doing a paper journal-hey, whatever works! It's a great site. You are correct on the breakdown of fat/calories/proteins on SB. You can up the carbs 5% if you want and lower either or both the fat and proteins by 5% if you see you need a little more carbs. I think for being a NEWBIE you did very well. Just try to up your carbs a little and lower your fat some and you'll be great-good going on the fiber too, it's not up to what you should have, but it's a lot better than the 11gram average Americans get each day. I love pottery and wish I could find time to do it-would love to see some pieces you've done-do you do RAKU? I use STEVIA and nothing else. The best one I found is WIDSOM OF THE ANCIENTS brand called STEVIA PLUS, it has no maltodextrin in it, as others do.

RALY, glad to see you back-was wondering what happened to you! No yelling at you, just happy to see you:)

PRAVDA, WELCOME BACK!!! CONGRATULATIONS on losing your first 10lbs-that's awesome!! Just think, 3 more pounds, you'll be under 250-another great milestone!!

FILLISE, I'm sure you'll do fine during Lent. Eli gave me a LENT LESSON in the car today;) Nex time, put a note on your hotel door saying in lieu of donuts cash would be appreciated instead!!!;)

BETH-I can only say that TOM was never regular until I lost weight! And if it still holds true, mine is due on Thursday:rolleyes: I think if you can get the agave locally it would be best to do it that way. Shipping is $9, I think, and with the cost going up a bit it seems, you're better off getting it at home-but if you need it, just let BIGK or myself know. The last time I got it it was $2.59 a bottle, with 10% off for case pricing, so let me know!!! I think it may come out the same price as BIGK can get. Hope the cramps subside.

BIGK, seems there must be a run on the agave! You are still getting it at a better price than I can though.

TRISHALOO, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! Glad you finally have decided to join us:D CONGRATULATIONS on doing so well so far on SB, that's a great loss. I think your choice for choosing SB over Atkins was a good one, sure will have lots more foods to chose from & lots let expensive. Glad you liked the Cheesecake recipe-I think it's a winner:) Please, don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have-we're all more than happy to help!!! We have a few Texans on the board as well, so you are in good company. Again, WELCOME!!!

TREE, hmm, how about these hot packs, Rubbermaid makes them, you nuke them and then stick the food and the pack in an insulated bag and it keeps foods hot for hours. Just trying to give you some more options before you turn into a head of lettuce!!!

LDBLOND, you put all of that so nicely. THANK YOU! It's very true, you have to look out for #1, which is you! You can't worry about who's on this journey with you, but more on you making the journey safely while learning along the way. Anyone who wants to come along on the journey with you will (like us) and those who don't will take a different path. Whether their path is the right or wrong one, you can't worry about it, it's your path and the way you decide to get to your destination is all that matters.

BOB, so you are lucky, a test market SB-will relay the message to your Sweetie!!

ROSALIE, seems the whole board is agonizing with you-I am too, even if I didn't get to see what happened! I haven't forgotten your e-mail you sent, will work on a reply tomorrow.

HAPPY, envelope went out this morning, let me know when it arrives-remember, this is less sweet than the old agave! Will let you know about final plans for Orlando-def. do try to come at least for lunch-better than nothing. Like late morn, early afternoon. Not sure about Friday night-still have to get with BOB to make plans, first have to check schedules with kids, Eli, my Mom to see if I can swing it. I would say the agave, just in a drink-only sent 2 small packets the size of ketchup-even on some WW pancakes, it's delicious! I'll bring you some house blend Starbucks. I once in a blue moon drink coffee and it has to have lots of milk-just never liked the taste of it.

Time's up, gotta run-I wish you all good luck with the metal monster and TOMORROW'S WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!!

Nite!

No scale :( But I'll be weighing as soon as I go over to my MIL's house this week and I'll chime in ;)

DEB - I called around here and I can get a case of 8oz bottles for 2.69 a bottle (including 10% case discount) So I don't know if it's any cheaper to do it that way... I guess it depends on how cheap BKM can get it. I ordered a case from both HFS just so one wouldn't get too awfully suspicious. They asked me what I needed a case for... I told them I'm gonna be doing baking with it, and 8oz is only a cup, so it one bottle only does 2 recipes. I told em I don't like my kids to have sugar, and I have blood sugar trouble... neither of which was untrue... now the baking part, Well.. We'll have to see ;)

TOM is settling down some.. I can live with it today. I have GOTTA get more water in me... I was doing sooooo well, only to slack off to 60 oz the last 2 days! I'm gonna do at least 100 today! Starting NOW!

Hope everyone has a positive WIW!

15 DAYS TILL THERE'S NO BACKING OUT!!!!!!

I hope everyone is considering registering for the WDW Marathon, Half Marathon or Cheering Section for next January! I want so many of us here that we have to spill out of the house into the back yard for our brunch!

Meister is feeling a little better, but still sleeping in the sick bay. He did get up this morning to go to mandatory disaster training on how to handle major attacks in the area. He has to go to court tomorrow about a robber he caught and tackled - it's taken over a year for this to get to court - the jerk has been running free this whole time. I hope he gets the maximum sentence which would be 5 years. (Of course I think he should get more for assaulting an officer of the law - especially such a cute one! ;) )

GOOD NEWS!! We have a new person starting on Tuesday!!!!!! Yeah!!! Hopefully this guy will catch on quickly and start taking some of the work off the rest of us. I'm tired of working all the time.

WIW I'm happy to report that I'm back down to 197.5. And I'm an official member of the TOM club this week....well, I will be in a day or so. I've been on the pill since I was 18 so I've never been irregular which made it a little more difficult to diagnose my PCOS. I also think my body is shrinking in that pooch just above the hips and below the waist so that it's not registering on my tape measure....and hence....adding to my frustrations when the scale doesn't cooperate.

DR. FUNK is young-ish and very nice. He sentenced me to 3 weeks in my tennis shoes with new inserts and said I had most likely sprained my ankle a while back and never given it the chance to completely heal up. Now I'm overusing my muscles and that's aggravating the problem. I have to cut back on my distance and speed for a while. So, I'll be checking out the big butt bike at the gym and the rowing machine to make sure I get all my cardio time in. I understand and will obey, but, geez! I was really getting into my walks. :(

DEBBIE He's bid on a Bianchi racing bike and the auction is over on Saturday, I think. We're the high bid, but the reserve hasn't been met yet. He put in for proxy voting and has a ways to go to reach the top of what he's willing to pay. The funny thing is I set up the handle so it's - solshine999 - Poor guy! He's solshine on e-bay!

TREE - I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you on your assessment. The judging should be on the actual performance and not the 'peripheral' situations. All Olympic athletes have overcome major hurdles, injuries and whatnot to make it there - that's what makes them all so spectacular. The two performances were not even close to being equal in quality. If another team had totally rocked even though they weren't in the running for a medal - the medal contenders had fallen all over the place - and the 'average team' had come up with the medal would the teams that are normally the best have been robbed because they are the best during the season? Would the guy with the best time in the speed skating be robbed of Gold because the guy who has set all the world records through the season came within .01 of beating the fastest guy's time? But, like BOB said, we can disagree pleasantly on here.

BKM Glad to hear you're surviving the cookie avalanche at your house! CONGRATULATIONS! to the BIG KNIGHT!!

BOB and QUILTER - I'm sure none of those doggies match up to the quality of MADDY and SKEETER! One of my co-workers has 2 Papillions (sp?) - so I was glad to see one win last year. They are very cute doggies. I'm looking at maybe getting a Boston Terrier one day, but gotta convince Meister that we can handle the responsiblities and time required - and right now we can't.

I'm sorry, I selfishly have to end this post with having done nothing but talk about myself.

 Hope WIW is good for everyone!

GOOD WEDNESDAY MORNING ALL:wave:

Just got in from my jog/walk-first time in a while that I got up like my old self and felt like going out today. I did my 4.5 miles in 44:43, my new 3rd best time now! So with that, I'm happy today:spin:

IT'S WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY TODAY!!!! and I hope you all have done well. Personally, I can't complain, I'm back to my safe place, within my 5lbs cushion even though it's the higher end of the spectrum and still up 6lbs from my all time low! I guess I should be happy since TOM is due probably TOM.

We ended up taking Eli's DD to lunch with us yesterday and ended up at the ME restaurant. I REALLY wanted to hit Ole Ole, but kept that to myself. Next time. Have to take Lauren up there for Bat Mitzvah to attend on Saturday so may hit it then. Carbolite was good yesterday, I hade half NY Cheesecake and half vanilla-yummy!

SOL, happy to see you are back down again! I'm sure you'll continue the downward trend, though it may be slow-remember, SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE, even though it's not a race, you get the idea;) Glad to hear VINCE is feeling somewhat better. I'm sure you want him to make a full recovery soon-can't be fun sleeping along:cry: When does Dr. Funk think you'll be able to resume your regular walks?? Does he want you to go back soon?

BETH, grab the case at that price-it's a good price and you won't get it cheaper!! Buy it without hesitation NOW!!!

Well, I'm sure caught up with the board this morning!:D Please remember TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow (though any time is just fine too).

I'll try to get some pictures up after I get Lauren off to school and if I'm lucky, a few recipes to post laster!

Have a wonderful day!

Good Morning All!

I have been sort of cheating the weigh ins all week since Wednesday, because I have this fear that if I don't weigh myself at least twice a day:eek: somehow I will gain weight and won't catch it on time - so it will just be worse! Everyone has told me I am obsessed with the scale - and I admit it. It is a disease.

So.

The enemy is at 163. Since I have been "cheating"(weighing myself), I know it was at 160 before. So now I have another thing to obsess about: was it colored greens? Was it cereal? Was it a knock on my head?
Well, the measuring tape was sort of kind, so - until next Wednesday, I need help to lock up my scales (as I am writing this I am getting a panicky reaction at the thought - no kidding! My throat is actually swelling!)
So. I need to lock up my scales until next week. It will also be my TOM time, so --- may the force be with me!

DEBBIE: Congratulations on your loss! Wow! You are now 5lb below your goal - do you have a new goal? You called it a safety cushion - are your clothes bought for 129, or 124? I was walking the 1 mile walk yesterday with my dog Ricky (the best looking mutt on this planet! ) and it took me 15 minutes. You are doing 4.5 miles in 44.43 - I am totally impressed! Are you running? 'cos that ain't no walk! :spin:
Yes I am also doing Raku - I call that smoking pots (for the general pleasure of my students), so I am also lovingly called a "pot head" because no matter what I am talking about, some way or another, the conversation ends up being about pottery. It has been very good to me, and I know that having two children is tiime consuming - but perhaps you should give it a try? (if you haven't already:^: ) Your kids would love it, really! Thanks for confirming the stevia sweetener. I have been trying to use it, but am running out of time in the morning - coffe made, tea made, but no time to drink it! :(

NASCAR GIRL - Congratulations! Slumps are a horrible, mind boggling things. You did great not to loose your senses over it! Perhaps now it will go a little bit easier?

SOLSHINE - Good job on the WIW. How can you tell when the scale is at .5? The notches on mine are soooo small! I used to have an electronic one, but then I abandoned it because it was swinging about too much.:o Sorry to hear about Meister, everyone I know has been sick this year. A nasty flu going around. Is that the problem? As far as jerks go - I try to comfort myself that the punk will get it back in some way. All we can do is stay steady on our course and not stoop on their level. Good luck tomorrow!

I am eagerly awaiting all your successes! It's good to know some of you are doing so well!

Hello

WIW 154 still. No gain or loss. Worked out yesterday at the gym and I tell you it's getting harder to get there. The kids have me soo busy and with doing homework every night for school, I get swamped. I need to get to 145 soon, spring is coming and I've got to get back into a size 9 comfortably.

Deb- so are you staying around 125-129 still? Must be that's your maintenance.

Well gotta go take care all

Morning All! Nice and sun shiny here today!

Well I'm up 2 today:( I've had chocolate and salt cravings (and indulging them  ) and it's only midcycle! I usually only get that with TOM. This is the first cycle off of BCP so I don't know if that's the reason.

I'll really have to work at journaling cause I really think twice about what I put in my mouth when I write it down. I'll need to start having all of you sitting on my shoulders again!

Still don't have too much time at the puter. With DH home during the day, we've been busy making plans for a major addition to the house! Lots of work and research to do so we can submit plans for a permit. we want to start in the spring and need to have the plans done ASAP.

CONGRATS to all the losers!

HANG IN! maintainers and those of us up a bit. Our turn will come.

ROSALIE thanks for the heads up on the bread. I'll check out the site and see what store might be close to me. I went to Ambrosia yesterday and they only had one bottle of dark agave! I took it cause I don't mind it in my coffee or smoothies. I haven't heard any more from Galloway.

SOL I loved the name of the foot doc. I used to have a gyno named Dr. Kroch!

Hope all who are not feeling well and/or their loved ones are better soon!

If I don't get on tomorrow,
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to everyone!

I am happy to say that I went from 214 last week to 211 this week!!!! I think it has to do with all you wonderful ladies and your suggestions! Especially you Zanne!!! THANK YOU!

I got my  V-day present early! My dh is a wonderful man. I went to lunch yesterday and when I got back there was a message on my voicemail that he had been here and dropped something off! I went to the front desk and there were a dozen red roses and a small velvet box! I got DIAMOND EARRINGS!!! I had been begging him for some for the last two years and he kept telling me it would probably my 5 year wedding anniversary prize. They are princess cut (square) which are my favorite style and 1/3 ct. I'm wearing them right now!!!! I love him so much! What a cool guy!

Well, I have searched around here and am unable to find agrave anywhere. There is one more store I need to check with and if not I may have to beg and plead for some of you ladies to ship me some. I'm dying to try it out in recipes.

Better go - I guess I should really do some work since that's what they pay me for!

Have a great day ladies!

Hello, this will be quick, but I wanted to stop in and say hello!

First the business of the day--242. Given it's TOM and my evil ways over the weekend I'm surprised it isn't more. Oh well, I'm in full repentance mode now.

Is the Orlando meeting this weekend? I hope there will be plenty of cameras!

I hope WIW is good to everyone! When I check in tomorrow I want to see a lot of losers on the board!

Hi everyone!!

Sorry I haven't posted in the last 2 weeks. Between the morning sickness and a virus I have been under the table. I lost 4 more lbs in the last 2 weeks so that brings my weight loss up to 64 lbs now. Looks like everyone is doing well. I have to go to the doctor tomorrow morning and start my glucose test. I had gestational diabetes with my daughter so they are testing me for it early. I don't know why I don't eat any real sugar and and pretty well staying legal. I guess its better to be safe than sorry. I have been craving dill pickles like crazy and have even gone so far as to eat a order of fried ones. This baby will come out looking like a pickle. I have been craving sweets like you wouldn't believe..I actually ate a piece of fresh apple cake sunday nite.:o I know I know bad bad me. I need a recipe for a legal fresh apple cake...anyone have one...please this craving is getting on my nerves. I didn't have any problems with cravings before I got preg. Now its major league cravings for something sweet. Well better get this posted. Hope everyone has a great day!!

Good morning, afternoon, whatever it is by now. Congrats to all you losers! Sounds like this was a good week. Personally, I am NOT getting on the scale until I've finished the BFL challenge I'm doing. At least that's today's resolution. I'm getting so much more muscley- and I was muscley to start with, that I'm sure my scale weight is either up or the same. That just makes me cry like Deb's cartoon, or sends me into a tailspin, so I'm better off staying away from the darned thing. Easier said than done! Any way, I'm in the middle of week6, so 6 weeks to go. I'll be done the week I go to Florida and will take that week off from BFL, go back to straight SB, then start a second BFL challenge the following week.

Pooh- What a great hubby! Mine just laughs at the thought of diamond earrings. He has 1 pierced ear and TWICE I gave him a small diamond stud for Father's day or his birthday and TWICE he lost it- once in a pool (we tried to bribe all the neighborhood kids to go "diving for diamonds" but never found it, and once by ripping off a snorkel wighout thinking in 30 ft. of water in Hawaii. Didn't bother to try to find it there! I keep telling him I'd be MUCH more careful, hint, hint

Vesna- Your scale mania sounds like mine. Until this week, I've weighed myself at least once a day and it sure hasn't done anything for my state of mind. I think my weightloss would have been much faster if I only weighed once a week; I know my moods sure would have been better. BTW, don't let Deb's walking times intimidate you! I think she's adding a lot of jogging and calling it walking to spur the rest of us on!

Nascar- Congrats on the loss! I know you've really been struggling. Maybe you're over the slump and the fat's thrown in the towel. Have fun cheering this weekend.

BOB- what in the world is a blepherplasty?? Did Skeeter win Best in Show? Did you see that movie? I thought it was hysterical, but hubby hated it. If you haven't seen it and love dog shows, you gotta go get the tape! Personally, I think standard poodles should always take Best in show, but without that stupid continental clip. I keep Cleo in a "sporting clip" and she looks so much more like a dog!

Hi Deb- Glad to hear you are back to yourself today. You sounded really down in the dumps and exhasted the last couple of days.

Sol- take care of that foot! Take it from the injury queen, let it heal or you'll end up with a falling apart body like mine. Glad Vince is feeling somewhat better- makes it easier on you!

Hi everyone else, welcome new folks if I've missed you!

Evening All:wave:

It's been a good day of eating thus far, but with the night time rolling in, this is when I tend to go downhill and overeat. I made a really good butter bean dish I love, but haven't made in a while-it came out GREAT and I ate the entire amount (halved the recipe, not that it matters). Poor Eli! Me and beans just don't seem to go together anymore-I can hear him cussing now!!!:^:

I hear there's been a bigger stink about what happened with the skating. Very surprised they say there's no way to over turn the decision even if they find there were indeed problems. I think something should be changed to let a ruling occur if it is.

NASCAR, I'm SURE you'll be in DAYTONA with a big ol sign that says HI to us all-won't you?????? Good luck, hope your driver wins!!! You truly are big fans to come down to Daytona to cheer him on-we need you to come to the WDW Marathon in January next year to do the same for us, unless you'll be walking/running with us, then someone else will be cheering you on instead;)

VESNA, LOL! You want to talk about a scale obsession-ask any one of the gals on the board and they can tell you I'm the guiltiest one of the group!:^: I am totally obsessed with my scale-it's a love/hate relationship! You have to read WHY THE SCALES LIE which I believe is on the RECOMMENDED READING BOARD, if I'm not mistaken. You have to understand the fluctuations the body goes through, even throughout the day. I didn't understand that in the past, before SB. When I saw the scale go up, even though whatever diet I was on,I was following it to a T and not cheating-I'd get sooo discouraged, start to cheat, gain and go off the diet. Little did I know that if I would of been patient, the scale would of gone down again-I know this now. I've gone up as much as 8lbs in a week-I just know to be patient and it will go back down. My original goal was 129, which I met last June 10th, 2001, since then, I've gotten to a low of 118 about a month or so ago, but my real "goal" is to stay between 119-124 now, which I was able to do until about 2 weeks ago when I saw a big jump on the scale-but once again, patience paid off and I"m back within my safety zone. In May I started to try to put little bursts of jogging into my walks-it was hard and I thought I'd pass out after a few feet-now, I can jog 4 of my 4.5 miles, or about that-not sure of the exact distance. If you look back, I think of last weeks board, possibly the week before, you can see where I was and where I am now:) Good going on your walk with Ricky!!!! 15 minutes is a good time. For me to just walk, if I really try, I can do it in an hour:) I did the wheel in HS, but never have done RAKU, but I have bought 2 pieces are shows. What grade do you teach???

RALY, I was able to hit 118 last month, but my intentions are to stay between 119-124 from now on. My weight for my height, age and build is 115-129, 122 is in the middle, which is what I had been averaging more or less til the past couple weeks.

ZANNE, when you get those cravings, try eating some nuts, like Brazil nuts, or almonds even, that may help. If you MUST have chocolate, try what I did, put a piece of SB LEGAL CHOC. on some wax paper, nuke it til it's soft and spread it thin. Let it cool in the fridge and put a thin layer of pb on top and eat it-should help, at leat I hope it would! Hope you can get into the journaling-it def. helps!

POOH, CONGRATS! 3lbs for the week is awesome, give yourself all the credit, we're just overseeing your process;) Hubby gets brownie points, for sure! We love hearing about great DH's on the board-so when we finally meet them, we like them even more!!! If you can't find the agave you won't have to beg for one of us to ship it out to you-just try to do it ASAP as I'm not sure when the supply will be depleted.

FILLISE, nope, the meeting is NEXT month, March 9th:)

THUNDER, CONGRATS! Another 4lbs, wow, and with being pregnant, that's awesome! Good luck at the Dr. tomorrow-please update us when you get back. I'll try to see what I can find as far as an apple cake. Let me know if you want a recipe with pieces, a pie, or what you have in mind.

MEL, I'm sure when we finally meet next month I'll recognize you immediately, you'll be the buffed chick! LOL!

Okay, I've caught up, so I'm outta here for now. Will try to check in later, otherwise, tomorrow morning. I hope all of you who have a SO enjoy your VD tomorrow-wish we all could get diamond earrings like BETH-with or without a guy!

Hi All...

Congrats to all the losses. Even though I didn't loose in LBS. my clothes are bigger. YA!!:)

Deb - My husband is eating SB with me, makes it easy at home, but there are times that he doesn't feel like eating,so he says. He isn't loosing anthing and wakes up feeling full. Do you think he isn't eating enough and is putting himself in a starvation mode? Also, I basically feel great but lately have been feeling very tire in the afternoons. Am I missing somthing? Help

Vesnoid - My son is a potter. He is going to northern CA to get his bachalors degree in art. Do you sell any of your pieces? I can relate to the nicknames if you will that you potters are called. When someone hears me say that he "throws pots" they look at me so funny. Then I have to explain.

Pooh - I guess ther is still hope for me. I have mentioned several times in several years that I would like diamond earrings. Maybe this year.

Everyone have a great Valentines!!!

I have been running myself ragged and am wiped out! Begged DH to leave work early (we ride together from about 25 minutes from home) so I could get some sleep. Worked yesterday straight through lunch, stayed up late and got up early! Too much of that is making me a zombie.

WIW report, down 1/2. Hope to be building some lean muscle in addition to burning some fat. Went to the gym after dinner last night and again before breakfast this morning.

DH sent roses to me today since I won't be in the office tomorrow. Hate to say it, but no 30 minutes before they arrived several of the women in my office (self included) were talking about getting flowers. I reported that I RARELY get them, even the grocery store bunches!! Well, he did good!

Gotta go and ket dh do some work for an online class!

Need to get my beauty rest too! More tomorrow!

Peace,
FROG

DEB - I didn't get the diamonds... POOH did.LOLOL!! I actually got diamond earrings (round cut though, and 1/2 carat) the year I had my youngest son. I was due Feb 25th, but had him Feb 18th... and that Valentines day he bought me the earrings and told me they were nothing compared to the gift I was giving him in just days... How sweet is that? He's wonderful. Actually, he took half the income tax return and went shopping tonight... not sure what I'll have to report tomorrow night!! FINGERS CROSSED!!

I've had a CRAPOLA eating day today. Started well!! Bowl of Shredded Wheat with agave, then mid morning snack of a tangerine... then I snacked on some biscotti, and some SB legal chocolate thanks to TOM, and then more snacks... never ate lunch, but devoured waaaaaaay too many calories in "legal JUNK". Shame on me... but tomorrow is another day :) I'll blame good ol' TOM, and not feel bad about it. Good news is my Schwan's guy comes every 2 weeks, and I've been on SB for 3 weeks... today when he came he remarked about how much smaller I looked... so it MUST be working!! (HE's doing Slim-Fast.. UGH... I'm trying to talk him into SBing with me ;) )

There's a girl at work who's trying to lose weight the healthy way while still breastfeeding. I'm taking her my SB book tomorrow. If she wants to try it... I have plenty of resources to help her out with from you guys.

Hope everyone had a great WIW... I'm considering buying a scale tonight... and I just might. I just know I'm the type to obsess over it and step on the damn thing EVERY day, EVERY time I pass it. I'll have to tell DH to hide it and only get it out on WEDS mornings!! Then again, maybe I don't need a scale!!

See all you beautiful people tomorrow ;)

Okay, I’ll admit it, call me an ostrich with my head in the sand. I’m WEAK!!!! I have to now wait til the second week in March to get my pap done. So I cannot wait that long to weigh. So next Wednesday will be my day to come clean. Promise!!!

Hey BOB---I loved your smiley face with the protruding over bite. He’s got a great smile!!! Just like yours!

HAPPY---So glad to hear that you’ve got your computer back and that you are now able to get with us when you want to.

DEB---Thanks for cutting me some slack about this weekend. You are as always, gracious to the core. The Bee was great. Thanks for asking. I had a blast, but I was soooooo tired by the time I got home. They did have eats there, but I was manning the timeclock and had to be at my post the entire time. I did run back to the table at the break and snag a few veggies and dip. Oh, and did I mention that one tiny piece of chocolate???? God, I’m pathetic!!! You can smack my hands. I need it.

SOL---Happy to hear that Vince is feeling better. You warn him to take it easy or the darned stuff will come back with a vengence. Thanks for your excitement about WDW. You are really starting to wear me down. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to come. I love papillions. I’ve never actually met one, but I think their faces are just plain old kissable. I remember that one who won a few years back. He was adorable. I love having Maddie, and you will love having your little one whenever you get it. But I do have to say that they really tie you down. There are nights when Paul and I could just stay downtown and grab a bite for supper, but we have to get home for our girl. Don’t think that I’m sounding sour grapes, because I dread the day when she won’t be here to welcome us home. I absolutely love how she’s always around. Napping at my feet. Sometimes she gets bored with us and jumps up on our bed for a soft snooze. It’s really cute. BTW, I thought you were a dog person. We are a special breed ourselves.

DEB again---You are kicking SB booty again. Way to to on your super fast time. Should we start calling you the white lightening???? And I’m so happy that you can breathe a sigh of relief at being back at your cushion. That’s great!!! Your hard work has paid off. Oh and one more thing . . . about this week’s poll . . . you forgot one that I would have to say . . . something to the tune of it’s none of their ***************, *********, ********* business!!! LOL Lying doesn’t even enter in. But I do have to say something along those lines. When I had to get my new drivers license in November, I decided to bite the bullet. I lied LESS on the weight section. I decided that it might be dangerous to my health. If I was in an accident and the paramedics read my license, they might not give me enough medicine thinking that I was a measily 140 pounds. Of course, they would only have to take a good look at my arse to know that somebody was in deep denial. LOL

NASCAR---Enjoy the race this weekend. Hope your favorite takes the checkered flag!!! Most of our family are big fans of the racing world, but that’s one sport we’ve not gotten into . . . yet.

ZANNE hon---So sorry that you are up two today. I’ll wager that if you got on tomorrow, you’d be down a pound. But I am not encouraging you, just speculating. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} The name of your old gyno made me LOL for at least an entire minute. That was TOOOOOOOFUNNY!!!!!

FILLISE---Sounds like you are feeling better. I sure hope so. Isn’t confession good for the soul . . . and hopefully for the waistline. I should do more of it.

Hey FROG---Me and my honeybunch also ride into work together. Ours is only a 15 minute drive on a good day, but it still gives us a nice little bit of quality time. I think I drive him crazy because I usually don’t shut up the entire way in. He’s so quiet and just ask DEB and NARDA . . . that’s not how I am!!! Glad to hear that you got some roses. What a sweetie. And I sure do hope you get some rest tonight. Turn off the phone, take a nice warm bath, and snuggle up early. Hmmmm, that sounds so good I think I’ll do it right now too! Well, better finish this post first!

Well, everybody, I think I’ll take the advice I gave to FROG. I love to read in the bathtub. Did I tell you all aboutthe bath salts I made a Christmas? Got the recipe from dear Martha S. Anyways, they were a bit hit on the gift circuit. But for me I just stand over the tub and sprinkle each item directly from the container . . . no fancy recipe for me. Then I bought some wonderful essential oils that smell so wonderful and soothe the skin. It’s truly a slice of heaven.

Sorry I missed some of you. BKM and ZSU . . . how are you gals. Hope the recovering life was good today. Are you two being good? Better be. LOL

Good night everyone!
Take care.
Sweet (sugarfree) dreams.
Kim

Hi Guys!
Happy WIW. I forgot to weigh- I use the scale at work and was so busy - so I guess I'll Weigh in thursday! Ok, now I have an idea for a new internet abbreviation. Zanne cracked me up with the name of her gyney so from now on instead saying we're going to gyney or for pap smear etc, we should say we are going to see Dr. Krotch :o It can be code for pap
Ok enough of that!
Does anyone know if Natures Own makes Sugar Free Whole Wheat hamburger and hot dog buns? I have looked everywhere around here and can't find them. But this little hick town I'm in has never heard of Agave either. By the way how do you pronounce Agave? I thought maybe I said it wrong. I was prounouncing it "ah gave".
I've been doing well in the day and slipping off the wagon at night. Wish I could stop that!

Nascar- have fun at the 500. When you're in Daytona, you're only about 15 minutes from me!
Well all have a great losing day tomorrow!!

Zanne

Had a bit better day today. Still indulged in the chocolate and salty snacks but no where near as much as yesterday. Gotta be hormones!

DEBELLI-Glad to hear you're within your cushion. Thanks for the ideas to curb my cravings, but I read them a little too late. But I'll keep them in mind! (Hopefully I won't have to use them!) I found your recipe for Mandelbrot and thought I'd try that for the sweet cravings. Might help in the crunchy cravings too. One thing tho, the recipe says that you cut them and turned on their sides in the oven for 2:30 minutes. Is that 2 and a half minutes or 2 hours and 30 minutes. I made mandelbrot many years ago and if I remember correctly, when it was cut it went back in the oven at a low temp for a fair amount of time. Just wanted to make sure since I'll be using the precious agave.
ALSO Thank you for reposting the "Get Back Up" I really needed to read that today! I've reread it several times already. I've printed it out and put it on the fridge.

NASCAR Congrats on the big loss! Have fun at the race.

VESNOID Keep the faith and the scale will move. But the scale doesn't always tell the whole story. You said the tape measure moved, so that's a GOOD thing! Are you doing weights? That could build heavier weighing muscle.

POOH Glad you had a great WIW! And what a wonderful surprise from DH.

THUNDER WTG on 64lbs gone! You speaking of craving dill pickles reminded me of another snack I can have! Thanks. I'm not sure about fried ones tho! Hope your test is negative.

RED1 You're doing great with the clothes getting bigger! Keep up what you're doing and the scale will go down too.

FROG I hope you get a good few nights sleep! Sleep is just as important as eating healthy and exercise. What a sweetie your DH was for sending roses.

BETH What a great feeling to have someone notice your weight loss. Umm, what's a "Schwan's guy"???

QUILTER Thanks for the HUGS! Needed them. But I'm getting back up! Unfortunately rationalized tonight that if I finished off the evil food , it wouldn't be in the house any more. I'm going to arm my kitchen with nothing but good food and find a craft to keep my hands busy! I couldn't believe the name of the gyno either! But ya need something to laugh about when going there!

HAPPY I like your idea for the "code". I hope you have a successful WI Thursday.

Time to hit the hay!

Good evening everyone!

Well, WIW was not good to me AGAIN. I am up 1.5 pounds from last WIW. I am retaining fluids though. I leave a dent in my shin about 1/4 inch deep:(

Glad to hear that so many of you are doing great this week. I think that I'm finally learning that if the scales go up one week, they'll go back down again soon (at least if you're remaining OP).

Have a great night's sleep and "tomorrow is a new day". Stay sugar free.

Hi Everyone

I just made the oatmeal cookies from the recipe board. They tasted great before they went in the oven. After they were cooked they tasted kind of weird. They had a pasty taste - presumably from the oat flour. I made them exactly according to the recipe with oatmeal and oat flour. The ones I made before from another recipe tasted much nicer, even if they were a bit crumbly. It was a similar recipe except it used oatmeal and sgww flour plus an egg. So I think I will stick to my original recipe, or maybe try this one again using ww flour instead of oat flour.

Zanne - Glad you were able to pick up some agave. I was in Ambrosia on Monday after work and picked up two bottles. There was only one other bottle there so thought I had better leave it in case you were in there looking for some

Kim - Glad to hear that your spelling bee went off well. Whenever I have seen spelling bees on tv even with very young kids I am always surprised at some of the words they get to spell. Lots I have never even heard of.

Slaphappy - Were you having withdrawal symptoms when you couldn't get to the computer? You must be happy to have access to it again.

Pravda - Congratulations on the 10 lbs lost.

BKM - Congrats on your son's achievement. You must be a very proud momma.

Sol - Glad to hear you are on the way down again. Every little bit counts. Take care of the foot. I know it's hard to slow down when you are raring to go but we have to get you fit for the marathon. :) Glad Vince is feeling a bit better.

Deb - Happy to hear that you are staying within your cushion.

Vesnoid - I only ever weigh myself first thing in the morning - and yes I have been doing it every day. I'm afraid if I stop weighing it will creep up before I realise it but I know from past experience that if I weigh any other time of day it will be up a few pounds. And that I don't wish to see :D

Thunderwoman - 64 pounds lost - that's fabulous. I hope your glucose test turns out o.k.

Congratulations to all the other losers this week. And to the rest hang in there - our turn will come.

I forgot to mention I weighed in at 195 1/2 this morning. That's half a pound more than last week.

Goodnite.

Marie.

Deb - I may have to be a cheerleader if I can come next year to the WDW jamboree!
Meliris - you go girl you are gonna be so fit! Remember muscle weighs more than fat. So you are building muscle!!
Take care everyone I'll check in when I get back from the 500!

Good Morning.. By the time I wake up you all have half your morning gone. Well only one more day and my baby is gone. The wedding is tomorrow night. With everything that is going on in the next few days I won't be around. I'll be back next monday. I am hoping to stay SBlegal as possible, but with the wedding cake. YAK !! I'll have to make sure someone else cut the cake. Then I won't be so tempted.

Got to go. You all have a great weekend.

14 DAYS TILL REGISTRATION FOR THE WDW MARATHON!!

22 DAYS TILL THE MASSIVE SB GET TOGETHER IN O-TOWN WITH THE KIND CANUK – MARIE!!

Okay, I know you’re wondering, “What’s gonna happen after registration day for the marathon?” I’ve thought long and hard on this….and I’ve decided……Countdown to the marathon! You could still get ready by adding ¼ mile per week to your walks and be in good shape for the half-marathon in January.

I bought Meister a vibrating silent mode cell phone package in camo colors for V-Day and was so excited about it that I gave it to him last night. I bought him a card that says, “When I first met you I wanted you for my friend…….(inside)But then decided to keep you for myself.” I did try to set him up with a couple of my friends when we were just friends. It was too funny. He said I’d get mine tonight, but I did get a big bar of SB legal chocolate from him. He said he was at Whole Foods and kept thinking about that commercial where the guy is asking girls what they want for V-Day and they kept saying chocolate and that one girl at the end with the word association game “NUT CLUSTERS!” He’s no dummy!

DEB – Glad you’re feeling better and back to your comfy cushion!

PRAVADA – Congrats on the 10 lbs! My wedding ring is finally getting a little big on me – I love it! ‘Course that probably means it’s just back down to where it was before I had to have it enlarged.

TRISHALOO – WELCOME!! You’re definitely in the right place for support!

TREE – I bring a little playmate cooler to work and find that it keeps things pretty constant temperature until lunchtime. Yesterday I nuked a sweet potato before leaving for work. I double wrapped it in aluminum foil and a kitchen towel. By lunch time it was still a little warm. There’s a Mandarin Orange Chicken Salad recipe and a Greek Chicken Salad recipe on one of the recipe boards – they are yummy and can be eaten at any temperature.

LDBLOND – I liked your post. I consider this WOE and exercise now a “Life or Death” situation. A bit extreme, probably, but with so many people in my family morbidly obese and struggling with adult onset diabetes and heart problems I know that if I don’t get serious now I will be forced to later – and with more problems to have to deal with as well. I also tend to want to ‘fix’ things for others, but have to remind myself that it’s not available to do that and that people have to want to ‘fix’ their own situations and if they don’t, then there’s not really anything I can do to help them. One of my teachers once said, “I can’t motivate you. I can only motivate you to motivate yourself.” That’s what we do here. We share our victories and struggles and support each other – we’re here because WE want to fix OURSELVES. I used to forego exercise because I needed to ‘fix dinner’, ‘do the budget’, ‘clean the house’, etc….. Now, I exercise and if some other things don’t get done – then they don’t get done, or someone else does them. I’ve rearranged my priorities so that everything else falls into place AFTER my exercise. (‘Course that’s a bit easier to do since I don’t have kids. ;) )So glad you’re here!

BOB - ALLS I can say is…..MEISTER AND I CAN’T WAIT TO MEET YOU!!! ….even if it means we don’t get your share of coffee. He’s asked several times if you’re going to make it to the O-Town week-end. :D What the heck is a blepherplasty ????

HAPPY - You’ll be at our gathering, too, won’t you?? Glad you have your ‘puter back! I know I go through withdrawals. Dr. Hand? Knowing me, I’d probably pick him thinking his name meant his destiny was to be a good Dr.!

BETH – I think I’d have told the HFS they shouldn’t ask questions, but be glad you’re giving them so much darn business buying that much agave from them - or that if it was too much trouble and they didn’t want the business I’d order it off the internet.
‘course I’m stressed and a little grumpy today. None of their business why you want that much agave. What’s a Schwan's guy? Feels good when people notice you’re shrinking, doesn’t it? That’s a good motivator for me for days!

NASCAR GIRL CONGRATULATIONS ON THE LOSS! If you haven’t already left – remember ONLY ONE SMALL SOFTSIDE COOLER AND ONE CLEAR PLASTIC BAG PER PERSON ALLOWED IN THE SPEEDWAY! They’re sending people with hard coolers back to their cars!

VESNOID - I have an electronic scale – my eyes are not good enough to see the numbers on the other ones. ‘Course if I could use unreliable and inconsistent as my excuse for the scale not moving…………. :s: What part of O-Town are you located? I live up in Casselberry but work down by the FL Mall. Yeppers, there’s consequences for the decisions we make and we don’t always see when people get what they got coming to them, but just knowing they do get it is all we have to hang on to sometimes.

RALYNNE - No gain is good! How old are the kids? Can you take them to the gym with you? They have a kids section at our gym where kids can play, watch movies, do homework, exercise. I see lots of kids in there some nights and they seem to be having fun.

ZANNE – Don’t know if I could go to a Dr. named Dr. Kroch! I’ll bet he was good, though! I can ride along with you tomorrow. I know what you mean about journaling, I need start doing that myself.

POOH CONGRATS ON THE LOSS!!! Diamond earrings!?! HOW SWEET!!! What a great DH! I’m sure you’re showing them off today! AND roses!? WOW! I love Princess Cut diamonds, too!

THUNDER You’re doing great!! AND, fried pickles? I’m jealous! I can’t find them down here anywhere and I LOVE them! They opened a Sonic here last year, but, alas, they don’t have them.

MEL I wish I could come meet you when you’re here in Florida, but I’ll have to settle for the ‘buff’ pics that you and DEBBIE will take. I know y’all will have a great time together.

FROG Hope you’re well rested and CONGRATS on the loss! I can’t wait to see your updated ‘buff’ pics after BFL!
This post is too long! Not gonna get to everyone – sorry!

 HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

OK, I'll fess up. I'm the original valentine's day scrooge! I despise this day above all others. If I had my way, I'd stay inside and not turn on the radio or tv all day long. I can't stand the fact that greeting card companies, florists, and candy makers have consipred to tell me on what day I have to tell someone I love them. So I don't participate and plan to be really snarly all day!:s:

If I WERE going to express my affection for anyone, my SB friends would certainly be on my list, but I think you all know how much I treasure you, so there is no need to say it.

Am I still not participating?:s:

First day of Lent was appropriatly solomn. I was one of the leaders in our Ash Wednesday service, so I got to put ashes on people'e foreheads and intone "from dust you came and to dust you shall return." If that doesn't set the tone for Lent, I don't know what will. I had two sweet little girls in my line (7 and 5) and it just about killed me to have to say that to them. Today the mood is snarly so you all might want to steer clear!

First day of Lent was also appropriatly OP. Portion control is a big issue for me right now. When I first began SB I pretty much ate as much SB legal food as I wanted. I lost more than 60 lbs, but now I've been bouncing around the same 6 or 7 lbs for months, so portion control (OK--and no KK doughnuts) is part of my fast.

I have work to do, so I'd better get going. Enough of my snarling for one morning. The happy people may have the board back now! I'll be much better tomorrow!

Fillise you're not alone! My DH and I don't do the Valentine's thing either. You're right, we don't need a special day to say "I love you". And heck, they quadruple the price of all the gifts! When we give each other a wee gift or go out to dinner any other time in the year, it's special cause we want to, not because, like you said, the companies are telling us we HAVE to.

I did send DS to school with Valentine cards and treats, but it's fun for the kids.

But for those who do wish to celebrate, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

Good morning all!

Thank you for confirming my sanity (scales mania) - or perhaps we are all just drinking from the same "crazy well"? :D

Since many of us seem to be going into the TOM (and some of us are crampy, bloated, PMSing, pimpling, and more), I wanted to ask the board, what you think about DIUREX. I use it when my TOM gets really nasty, to get rid of bloating and it also helps me with cramps. I know it is not the healthiest thing to do, but if someone knows anything better - I am eager to find out!

ALSO - Is anyone doing BODY FLEX? I did it once for 2 weeks (irregularly) and saw some really good results. But since it is difficult to do, and it does get a bit boring after a while, I stopped. I am trying to add it to my exercising routine, since you are all sporting such good success against the PHAT MONSTER!

SOLSHINE - Good for you and your HB! Nice present! Now you can give him good vibrations any time you want! I live in Winter Park, about 7 minutes away from Aloma Whole Foods (Eastbrook). I used to live in Casselberry - Reflections Apartments. I have my own house now. Actually, me and the bank :D ! As far as the ENEMY goes - I had/have an electronic one, but it was showing too much, or too large of jumps, and being a weighing veteran I knew something wasn't right! The thing had to go! My mechanic scales are now stuck behing the toilet, so unless I get into a frenzy (as in feeling half starved and so skinny I need an immediate confirmation), it'll be safe there!

ROSALIE - I'm sorry to hear about the cookies. I love oatmeal cookies, and the more natural they taste, the better. Actually, I am a bit of a "natural tasting" nut. I also have known about all the bad, bad, stuff in the foods for a while, so I have had time to develop an aversion to sugar. It actally burns my tongue! I can't even eat certain icecreams, because they taste spicy to me! SOOOO - if you need a safe home for your cookies, a loving and caring environment - I'll send you my address! :T

ZANNE - I hope this day goes better for you. I know how it is to have uncotrollable cravings! Before you know it, your hands are moving without the consent of your-self, and before you can say "STOP" your teeth are sucking the forbidden food! I had a piece of my birthday cake the other day, and it put me on such a sugar crave, I had to eat nuts and go to Whole Foods for some low carb chocolate!
Perhaps if you make yourself exercise after you snack, you will think twice about doing it:^:

SLAPHAPPY - I like your new abbreviation. It truly is anything but subtle LOL!! A bit naughty even?

FROG LOVER - Good going for flowers! My DBF asked me yesterday If I expected anything for today, and was generally perplexed with the whole idea of the V Day. So I had to tell him that I wanted sweet attention, flowers, etc. He said the only thing he had planned for me, was to wish me a happy V day. Then he took me to a scrumptious and quite expensive dinner:smug: !

RED1 - I AM SOOOOO JEALOUS! It is my dream to get an M.F.A.! But here in Orlando, we don't have a program I could attend. How long has your son been doing pottery? Is he going to college, or to get a graduate degree? I have sold some of my work, but got frustrated with the unreliable working conditions that are a norm for public studios. They can't help it, they are doing the best they can, but the artist isn't in control, and that unsettles me. So I am going to buy my own kiln, and we'll see!

DEB - Thanks for that article you mentioned. I read it and it makes sense. I sort of knew that stuff, but wasn't aware of how much difference water makes. The article also breaks down the aquisition of fat quite nicely. It explains why I can eat like a pig for a while without gaining, and then all of a sudden get the pounds I can't shake:mad: Another article that you put up was the one about the sugar. WOW! I also have some vegetarian friends, who by and large only eat brown and unpurified sugar, nevertheless, there are so many store bought products with the POISON in it....as I have told Rosalie, I can taste white sugar as a burning spice if it's in a high quantity - e.g. all those fruit yoghurts, YUCK! I have tried eating them long before this WOE, and couldn't (24g per serving????!!)
I teach at Edgewater High School - we have a pretty good ceramics department. Well equipped too!
Walking - I went really fast last night, and I think I did my mile under 15 minues. I wish I had a buddy to go to Cady Way with me (local nature/exercise path). I usually only do 2 - 3 miles there, because part of the path goes by some shady looking apartments, and I am just not comfortable going by there by myself.

MELIRIS - Thanks for the boost. I stuck the BEAST behind the toilet! There! And yes, Deb admitted to not quite walking the whole way - hm - and now I have the URGE to wobble a bit faster too!

Have a lovely Valentine's day!

Hello everyone.

I'm so excited today. I have on a pair of pants that I have not been able to get past my hips in at least a year (probably longer)!

BOB: I may be too new here to get away with a good natured jab, but I'm going to anyway. I don't know whether or not you follow your Lady Vols excellent basketball team, but our Lady Longhorns came into town and won the other night. They hadn't done that since 1988 or something like that. They were pretty excited. Tennessee has a terrific basketball program. Of course I'm sure I'm not telling you anything that you don't know.

I need exercise help. I dislocated my shoulder in October and now have 2 pins in it. I'm doing physical therapy but don't have near the range of motion that I had before. Does anyone have an upper body workout that I can do that's not going to put too much stress on that area? I've been walking which has really helped the lower body, but I'd like to start doing some work on the upper part as well. Short sleeve weather is coming and those "bye-bye" arms are out of control!

Happy Valentines Day all. Stay away from the goodies (unless of course they're the legal ones).

Marie, I picked up 2 loaves of the Stonemill Bread. The Loblaws at Centerpoint carries it. I got multigrain and walnut. I'm going to have to be careful cause the walnut is really tastey! They were just opening up the boxes the bread was delivered in, so I got really fresh loaves.

Thanks again for letting me know about the bread.

Hi Everyone

I was thinking about valentines day while driving home from work to-day. I remember when my kids were in school I thought it odd that they would be expected to take valentine cards for each other. And people sending cards to moms and dads and friends and aunts and uncles, and everyone else on the planet. Where I come from we only ever sent valentines cards to someone we were romantically involved with (or would have liked to have been). So I was pleasantly surprised when my son came home and presented me with a dozen yellow roses, with a card from my two ds's, dil and grandkids. It was particlarly touching as my dh passed away a year ago to-day.

Trishaloo - Way to go on the pants. Isn't that a good feeling to be able to get into something that you haven't fitted for a while.

Vesnoid - Too bad I couldn't send you some of the cookies, but in spite of what I said yesterday most of them are gone! They actually tasted a little better this evening than they did last night. Although next time I will try them with the sgww pastry flour. I wish I had the same problem with sugar. :)

Marie.

Good evening everyone,

Well I didn't make it to the doctor today. I woke up at 3 am with morning sickness and it didn't end until 9am. They are just going to have to wait until the morning sickness ends. That should be sometime in the next week or so. If I had tried to drink that glucose drink I would have throwed it right back up.

Deb I would like a recipe for a whole cake to slice up for the freezer for these sweet cravings. Or a pie recipe would be nice to. I just need something with spice to satisfy these cravings thats legal.

Hope everyone has a great nite!

Good Evening all!
Hope you all had a nice legal Valentines Day. I've been browsing through the recipe boards taking down some recipes to try if I ever get a spare moment! A girl at work is trying the SB way of eating. I am going to try and get her to come with me to Orlando to meet all of you. Am I right to assume from the email that we will be meeting in Casselberry? Would you like me to bring a cheesecake (legal of course)? There is a store in Ormond Beach called Heavenly Cheesecake and they make a no carb cheesecake. Let me know if you want one!

Deb: I received the Agave today - Thank You! Now I just have to figure out how much to use in my coffee. If I use 2 splendas, how much agave would I use? You mentioned bringing us things that we may want - what kinds of things? I haven't been on this long enough to know what kind of things I want. Can you get whole wheat hamburger/hot dog buns?

Vesnoid: Have you tried vitamin B-6 for your bloating and cramping. I'm sure it would be much safer than Diurex. Those over the counter diuretics are dangerous - can cause drop in BP, congestive heart failure, etc. Also, water with lemon is a natural diuretic. Good Luck! :)

Thought I'd be watching ER tonite, forgot about the Olympics, I guess it will be weeks until we find out if what's his names brain tumor is back :dizzy:

Sol: whereabouts in CAsselberry do you live. Do I get off I-4 at 436? I know where Sam's is and of course Altamonte Mall. Have you ever gone to Kobe Steak House on 436 in Altamonte? YUMMY! but they serve to much rice, pasta, potatoes to be legal!

Well all, have a great Friday, I'm going on a field tomorrow with my sons Kindegarten class to the Zoo. :)

VESNOID--I used to live in Winter Park. On the street right across from Lakemont Elementary School. I live in Maitland now, right near the Greek Orthodox church that you can see from I-4. I have an all-day meeting on the 9th so will have to miss the lunch get-together. But I may be free that night. What restaurants in WP do you think the group would like? When I eat downtown WP, we usually go to the Café de France, so I don't know what the food is like in all those other restaurants down there. There certainly are a bunch of them.

BOB--Are you only a football fan. UT plays other sports, you know. The mighty Gators are tops in so many sports it is hard to choose which one I like best. The football season is fun because of the tailgating and the hoopla that goes along with it. But BBall is great too. We call it Billyball because the Gators play such up-tempo ball and do very well. We've even gone to tennis matches up there and loved it.

Cat Lover--I'm now officially playing golf--still on a par three course, though. I have a lesson scheduled for this Sat. I've been playing once a week with a freind.

Gotta go study French. Take care, all.

Thanks all for the lunch tips! I went through some old recipes and found one which basically tosses diced avocado, slightly pureed tomatoes, olives, and onions in with sunflower seeds and a dash of pepper. Not too bad, and at least a change in pace from regular salad. It also said to add shredded chicken meat but I didn't have any.

Not to beat a dead horse, but my original message re the canadians said
<Frankly, I believe they deserved the gold - they were perfect. >.

The thought crossed my mind whether it was a deliberate collision. It made me wonder if the judges thought it was a deliberate collision, and judged based on that. History (Harding/Kerrigan) has shown that come competitors want to win above all else.

Now, it looks like the judges were in collusion (not collision  ) with each other on rigging the scoring. Such a shame.

BOB, thanks for the sympathy note. I knew I'd be in for it by making that statement. Yes, the canadians should have won the gold - maybe the olympic commitee will make it right for them. They certainly showed grace under fire, and held their outrage in check while the media bombarded them with the fact that they didn't win the gold.

Let's hope the rest of the olympics will be uplifting. :^:

Hi, I know that it had been solong since I have posted, and that I always say that, but work has had me out straight and I have been just trying to get my exercise in each day, and then fall in bed. On Monday, I managed to swin 3/4 and it really felt great. For the past two pay peroids at work I have had over 35 hours of overtime. The checks are great, but I am tired. I took tomorrow off , just for some time for me. time to regroup and get thing back on course, and yes that does mean me. I have been doing get with the exercise but the eating has been not great. I have tried, but when i get tired things have a way for finding my month so much easier.

I am really looking forward to meeting so many of you in a couple of weeks. I got the time off and I will be there. Not sure of my plans, I might bring my 80 yr old Mom with me, as a traveling companion, not sure but might only stay up there on Saturday. Bringing Mom woould only be if noone has a problem with this and I will surely understand this. Just let me know how you all feel about this.

I would really like to stay and chat, but I am so tired and need to sleep, but will check back over the weekend. Have a great Friday. Laurie

Thought I'd drop in to wish everyone HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY even though it is a little late in the day. Hope everyone had a SUGAR-FREE day. I sure did, probably more so because we busted it at work all day. Benn doing alot of OT at work.

Weight is still playing yo-yo. I was back down to my goal weight this am, at 135. I'm anxious for some warmer days soon so that I can start back walking. Have been trying to get some exercise on the stationary bike, but most days I'm just too worn out after work.

Sorry not to address anyone else tonight, but I just have not been able to read at all this week. Did notice that there are several new names on the Bio page, so Welcome to all the new kids on the board  Just a play on words. Glad to see that you'll have joined this great group of ladies. They are great encouragers & motivators.

The other reason for dropping in tonight is that I want to say
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GATORGAL . I know it's not till tomorrow, but have a full day tomorrow, so didn't want to miss wishing you a GREAT DAY!

Did anyone see NBC news tonight? Their fleecing of America story was about the Sugar Industry. It seems they have lobbied Congress to support the industry with artificially high proces to keep out cheap foreigh sugar. The upshot is that American consumers spend some 2 billion dollars more a year then they should on sugar (and that's not counting the tax money that is used to subsidize the sugar growers). We have a real simple solution to that--STOP CONSUMING SUGAR!

Having recently read Dufty's Sugar Blues, I view the sugar industry as only a little better than drug pushers. Dufty makes the point that in every civilization where sugar is introduced into the diet, new diseases are soon follow--diseases that occur because people are consuming empty calories instead of nutritional foods. Then because we are not getting nutrition from food, we have to spend lots of money on vitamins. There are points in Dufty's book where I think he is a little hysterical, but the overall point seems sound. Sugar is as much a drug as cocaine or herion. How many of us have been through the cravings and the withdrawal? How many of us have just needed one more fix before we give it up forever?

I went through the grovery store tonight with a chip on my shoulder. Why does sugar have to be added to kidney beans? vegetables? tomatoes? peanut butter? If they are hidden in our foods we don't even know that we are becomming addicted?

I spent most of today with a bad headache. It's the same one I get everytime I let sugar back into my diet. it takes a few days for it to work out and I go trhough a physical withdrawal. You'd think I'd learn. I'm declaring war on the sugar industry! I don't want your poision anymore!

MORNING EVERY BUDDY!!! :D

Got this in my email this morning and wanted to share this little
"ditty" ;)

INTRODUCTION TO EXERCISE

A factory chicken is not allowed any exercise.

It is kept inside a cramped cage, 24 hours a day, and fed so much that
it gains over 43 times it's initial weight within 8 weeks. (Gulp)

Humans (that's you and me and anyone else with a valid credit card) are
not factory animals. We're free range!

We have the freedom to move around whenever we want.

Do we make the most of this freedom?
I'm afraid not.

So just like a factory chicken, we're getting plumper, fattier, and less
healthy. (Squawk!)

In other words, we've become factory chickens with credit cards.

Everyone have a good day....

Good morning friends! Have a busy morning but this afternoon I hope to have time to say hello to all. DH and FIL are leaving for an overnight hunting trip this afternoon and I need to do lots to assist in prep, mainly clean house kinda stuff.

Made DH dinner last night that was 99% SB legal. Also had cheesecake - 2 baby cakes SF for me, oreo for him. Sorry there are those of you who aren't too hip on the holiday. It is important to DH and I because it also happens to be the first time we professed our love for each other in a magical, romantic evening 10 years ago. The timing had very little to do with the holiday, it was just the moment that it needed to be said happened on V-Day!

Fell asleep watching Olympics on tv last night. Neither of us were very romantic in that respect! I think I've made up for most of my HUGE sleep deficit! Managed to have a nap yesterday and I was asleep by 10:15 last night!

Have been a bad little snacker lately with all the little bitty chocolate bites around. Have to remember that they are poison and stay away from them! AWFUL! :nono:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GATOR GAL!

Will try to post a note to all later! Have a great Friday!

MORNING FROGGIE....we were posting at the same time!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY GATOR!!!!

HERE'S THE REST OF THE TIPS ON EXERCISE!!!!

EXERCISE STOPS YOU BEING A FACTORY CHICKEN

Don't spend the rest of your life cooped up in your kitchen,
or your 4-wheel armchair.

Get moving!

Start moving those arms and legs and get some air into your body!
Why? Because regular exercise gives you 12 great benefits.

Unfortunately, most of these benefits are health benefits. (Boring)
So we'll skip them and cut to the bottom line.

Exercise helps you to lose weight!

So you'll develop a drop-dead gorgeous figure, marry a millionaire,
and get to drive everywhere in a stretch limo!

Okay, that's the plan. Now here are some details.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT EXERCISE DOES

Exercise helps weight loss in four ways.

1. It burns calories that might otherwise be stored as fat.

2. It slightly raises your Metabolic Rate.
Metabolic Rate is your 'tick-over' speed. The higher your metabolic rate,
the easier is it to lose weight. This is particularly helpful in overcoming
the 'plateau' effect of dieting.

3. It gradually reduces your fat ratio and increases your muscle ratio.
Remember, muscle cells are 8 times more metabolically active than fat cells.

So the higher your percentage of muscle, the less fat you have and the
easier it is to lose weight.

4. It's great for motivation. Getting active is a great way to make a new
start and demonstrate your commitment to a new healthy life. And let's face
it, the greater your commitment, the easier it is to succeed.

Finally... and much more important:

Exercise gives you a HUGE BUZZ.

For example, a little light jogging works wonders in so many ways.

- It's a great way to shove it to your fat neighbor.
- It annoys the **** out of passing motorists.
- It's a great excuse for buying new items of sportswear.
- You can swap exciting jogging experiences at parties.
- It helps you to live longer, which is quite handy.

[NB. Ghetto-joggers, see my new range of bullet-proof leisurewear.]
----------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT EXERCISE IS BEST

Well any exercise is good. You don't have to doll yourself up in $400
tracksuit and trainers, and jog your butt off around the neighborhood.

Housework, gardening, beating up your husband, clearing out the attic:
all these activities help to burn calories. But the best type of exercise is
aerobic exercise - i.e. exercise that is strenuous enough to raise your
heart rate. This is the sort of exercise that lifts your metabolic rate.

Do you have to join an aerobics class? Well it helps but it's not essential.
Brisk walking, jogging, step exercises, swimming and dancing are all good
forms of aerobic exercise.

Vary your movements to exercise your WHOLE BODY, not just your
legs. Over-exercising thighs is likely to leave them BIGGER. (Whoops!).
----------------------------------------------------------------------

HOW MUCH EXERCISE IS NEEDED

It depends on you. After all, everything is relative.

If you are a professional couch potato, then a daily 15 minute walk is
a great start. On the other hand if you are on your feet most of the day,
then a 20-30 minute swim three times a week, might be the best way to
proceed.

Whatever you do, do it regularly. Because 20 minutes of daily exercise
is much better than 60 minutes every third day. And it doesn't have to be
finished in one session. Two 10-minute sessions are just as good as one 20
minute session.

Exercise is not a set program, it's a life-thing.
For best results, you should think long term - i.e. years, not weeks.

Years? (Gulp)
That's right. Which is why it's so important to choose something that
suits you and your lifestyle.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

WHAT EXERCISE WILL NOT DO

It won't solve your weight problem by itself.
All it does, is help.

Sensible eating is still the No 1 solution to weight loss.
If you don't eat sensibly you won't lose weight no matter how much
exercise you do.

So don't expect too much from your exercise. Be realistic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

EXAMPLES

To burn off the calories in a small wedge of apple pie (or 4oz pretzels)
you have to walk hard for about 2 hours 30 minutes.

To burn off the calories in one 3oz croissant,
you have to swim for about 2 hours 5 minutes.

To burn off the calories in 3 spare ribs,
you have to run hard for about 1 hour 20 minutes.

To burn off the calories in 1 hot dog (without onions or relish),
you have to walk hard for 1 hour 25 minutes.

[Figures are approximate and apply to a 150 pound woman]

Hi, Everybody!!! Today is my day off from the office job, but, of course, there is always too much to do around here. But I’m not complaining. At least I can spend more time with my girl, even if it’s while vacuuming. It’s supposed to be a fairly nice day, so I will probably take her over to the park. I enjoy being free during the daylight hours so that we can get our walk in. She really loves it too.

ZANNE---Glad to hear that you had a better day. You may not be where you want to be, but at least you are going in the right direction! The key is NOT to get down on yourself and keep your chin UP!!!

ROSALIE---Hope you weren’t too disappointed with your oatmeal cookies. Not much fun to clean up the kitchen when you don’t have anything yummy to nibble while you do it. BTW, there were so many really difficult words in the Bee on Tuesday. I was working at the timer’s table and my friend was recording all the words that were given. We were trying to guess at the words on paper and let me tell you, I missed MOST of them. It’s a humbling experience, because I really thought I was a better speller than that. The people who make up the word lists for the national kids’ bee make up our word list, so that’s why they were so tough.

FILLISE---Don’t feel bad or apologize for being a non-practicing valentiner. I’ll make you feel good by telling you that my DH and I didn’t do anything special. We tried to do lunch, but realized too late that we had already scheduled lunches with other people. Last night we had a genealogy meeting to go to. That was real romantic . . . not!!! So you are not alone in your feelings. I think the cutest thing about Vday is how little kids get into it. Personallyk, I think Vday peaked for me in third grade when we decorated those wonderful shoe boxes and sent each classmate a very special little note card. I loved that, and it’s never been the same. Also, I loved your report on the sugar industry. My question is this . . . is there any sense of right and wrong in our world? Or does it all come down to the ever loving dollar??? I could get really depressed about that and so I shall stop thinking about it. But you are so right about it being in everything. So maddening!!!

MELF---Hey, it was good to see your name scroll up into my window. I have every bit of confidence that your weight will stop yoyoing up and down and you will settle into where you should be. Just keep up that good work that got you there and you’ll be fine.

BOB---Just love what you posted this morning. How true, how true!!! That must be why I feel so often like a stuffed pig. You can bet I’m going for a long walk on the range today.

Well, that’s it for me, guys!!! I gotta a long Kimmy-do list so I’d best get out of these pajamas and start the day. Have a great weekend.

Take care.

Good Friday Morning Everyone:wave:

I didn't think I'd not be able to get back on the computer yesterday to post, but I wasn't able to due to Michael having a ton of homework-always the priority.

I have to say today has started out WONDERFULLY!! I got my jog/walk in and am proud to say, I HAD A NEW BEST JOG/WALK TIME EVER!!!! Did it in 43:38!This is 42 seconds BETTER than my previous best time!!!!! Can you see my excitement??:spin:

It's gloomy out today, just as it was yesterday, but today I had a determination to go no matter what! Yesterday the day started out just as icky. I was all dressed to go walk and it was sooo gloomy and rainy looking that I didn't get in my walk. I had to take Lauren to school and didn't want to chance getting stuck somewhere in a downpour with not much time to spare to get back, so I forego it. Could of gotten it in as it really didn't start sprikling until I was ready to take her to school. Never a good start to the day when I don't get my jog/walk in. Today was different!

Anyhow, yesterday was a big day for me personally-I came to terms with a few issues that have been plaguing me lately. You are all well aware of my post I did last week about the SB LEGAL TREATS and how I have no control it seems when I make them. Well, I had a good day the other day, the next was bad. I had left over goodies that were calling my name in the freezer and MIND YOU, I even made another Fearn Carob Cake after saying I wasn't going to make any SB LEGAL goodies-and as expected, I ate the whole thing.

I was wondering what the heck was going on with me-why did I keep doing this to myself-all the hard work I've done over the (almost) past 2 years could easily be reversed if I didn't take a hold of this situation once and for all. First, when I read SOL'S POST on how we had only 22 Days til our SB GET TOGETHER in Orlando, that it home with me-3 weeks and here I am out of control! What kind of role model am I?? Also, I thought, here I am thinking I'm so good not eating things off plan and not cheating and I really am cheating-MYSELF! I'm always the one to point out the HERSHEY BAR ideal I have and how Hershey's was here before I was born and will probably be so long after I've left this earth and they are NOT going broke without me eating their products and how one day, if I truly want a Hershey bar, I'll be able to have one-well, it's not just a Hershey Bar, it's all these SB LEGAL GOODIES that's I've been overindulging with that I have to think of as being the same. Where I have so much control in not wanting to eat off plan, why don't I have control to limit myself to one cookie, one piece of cake, one portion of anything? I have to realize that the control is NOT there for me and if I don't take care of this situation now, I'm going to be gaining weight like I've done on diets in the past.

Also, I was reading an article from a mag. I got at the HFS that also made me think about what was going on with me. The article is titled SUGAR SOLUTION and I wanted to quote some of the article:

It talks about LOW BLOOD SUGAR and says "Hypoglycemia occurs when you feel dragged out because of low blood sugar. Ironically, this low blood sugar syndrome may be caused by an overabundance of sugar in your meals and snacks." Researchers found that LBS sufferers complained of hypoglycemic discomforts in several main categories, one of them being drowsiness with 73%. Other miseries included fatigue, sudden hunger, sweating, sleeping problems, paleness, muscle pain (there are others, but these are ones I had experienced recently). Hypoglycemic may result from munching on endless sweets and never exercising (physical activity improves your body's handling of sugar). When you eat too many processed foods you set yourself up for a big fall in blood sugar. You create an environment in your body that allows these symptoms (and conditions) to occur. Your body breaks down carbohydrates, including those in vegetables, fruits, breads and grains, into simpler sugars. As these carbs. pour into the blood in the form of glucose, cells in the pancreas secrete the hormone-like substance insulin. Insulin is supposed to persuade cells to take up this in-flow of glucose and use it as fuel. But if, during this process, blood sugar drops too low, the pancreas released glucagon, which stimulates the release of glucose into the blood to bring the blood sugar levels back up. Overindulging in sweet and processed foods may upset this blood sugar balancing act. Because a massive amount of carbohydrates drives you insulin and glucagon down, the fats (stored as carbs) in your body can't be released (for energy) and you crave more carbohydrates. As you continue to consume large amounts of carb, the pancreas secretes greater amounts of insulin to properly transport the excesses of circulating blood sugar. Eventually, every time you eat sugar, your pancrease may rlease excessive insulin, whjich drives and keeps your blood sugar low enough to make you feel like you are lying downin a corner telling the world to go away.

After reading this article which I've severly condensed above I thought "THATS ME!!!" This is WHY I've been feeling so crappy, so tired, nothing I ate satisfying me! All the SB LEGAL TREATS I've been indulging in is causing this to me!

So, lots of things were going through my mind the last couple days and that little light bulb started to shine brighter once again. I told myself yesterday I would turn over a new leaf today and find that same spark that I found when I started SB. I let myself over-indulge BIG TIME yesterday, I ate whatever carob cake was left in the freezer, I even went as far as to make individual cheesecakes (some plain, 2 with bits of SB LEGAL CHOCOLATE in them, 2 wtih real strawberry swirled in with it, 1 with carob in it-needless to say, you can guess that I ate way too much (5 of the 9 I made). Also had some squares of chocolate-not sure what else-I was like the Tazmanian Devil yesterday. BUT I knew, come today, things were going to be different and I felt NO GUILT whatsoever, whereas before, I had. So after all that last night, I threw out the few cookies I still had in the freezer (they weren't so good, hence why I still had some) and I had Lauren take my entire stash of SB LEGAL CHOCOLATE (mind you, it fills an entire plastic shoe box tightly!) and told her to hide if from me. I am NOT even making another SB LEGAL TREAT until we have our SB GET TOGETHER next month. The only thing I will allow myself is Carbolite when we go up to Broward. I've turned over a new leaf and I'm feeling great! Esp. after this mornings great walk/jog!!!!:spin:

I have always said, I think the first 3 days of a new way of eating is the hardest, for me it has been like this in the past, so I look forward to getting through these next 3 days with that in mind-I KNOW I will do it-I feel it so profoundly and I haven't felt like this in a long time. I feel such a sense o f renewal! Oh, and I am NOT weighing myself until next WIW!!! Hope you don't mind me sharing this all with you!!!!!!!:)

So, I better get to posting to everyone, I'm so far behind with replys it's going to take me forever!!!!!!!!

RED1, I'm glad you know that your clothes being bigger on you is a better indication of weight loss than the scale is! What exactly does DH eat that would keep him feeling full and not be hungry? I see sometimes where people start SB and aren't hungry, but then they don't eat enough and then they don't lose-so this is possible, but hard for me to say without some more info on his eating. I would say to try and journal your food intake, at least for a day or two-this may provide some info on why you are feeling tired, but then again, could be hormones-but with a little detective work, like I did above, you can usually pinpoint and fix the problem. I hope everyone has a great time in Vegas-take pictures to post on the board!!! Look forward to hearing about it when you return!!

FROG, hope you are feeling more rested today. CONGRATULATIONS on another pound gone-I'm not only proud of you, but so excited as well! When you lose I feel like I've lost too (if only!). BP did good with the roses-pays to ***** to the air a little I see;)

BETH, sorry about that diamond mistake-need to check what I write sometimes! Hey, at least you got diamond earrings though! I would be afraid to get post diamond earrings, I tend to lose posts! PLUS, with my wild hair, hard to see anything but hoops. Hope he surprised you well last night!! If you do get a scale, do have DH hide it-it's a terrible obsession to have, as I do.

QUILTER, as long as you are eating well, don't worry about weighing in! LOL! Cut you some slack-can you see why I have to cut you slack from above! It would be like calling the kettle black!

HAPPY, you pronounce AGAVE as ah govee. Glad you get the envelope. Remember, this is less sweet than the one we can get at the HFS. Just ry it and see what you think. We have the Nature's Own SF Bread here-but I have NEVER seen the rolls, and I go to their outlet. I will try to ask if they know anything about it next time. Until then, you can always cut out circle shapes from the bread and pretend they are buns! LOL!! Don't worry about buying a cheesecake-making the one I have to bring;) Just let me know if your friend would like to attend so we have a number of how many are coming. We'll have more details as things develop. As for bringing things-well, we have wonderful WW pita that's made down here by a ME company that I usually bring bags up for people. They are about 6" and there's a dozen in the bag, I believe, and it's $1.25 a bag.

ZANNE, for the mandelbrot, it's 2.5 minutes for the side baking. You're basically just trying to brown the cut edges lightly.

SHEANN, don't worry about the gain, like you said, probably fluid retention, as always, be patient, it will come back down!

ROSALIE, sorry to hear about the oatmeal cookies being a flop, thought maybe you can use them to make some granola-but I see they are about gone! I, like you, feel only the love of your life should get a VD card and/or gift-but what a nice surprise for the kids to bring you flowers!!!

SOL, I LOVE THE CARD you got Vince, so cute!! Really, the two of you, you can see the love!!! Yummy, SB LEGAL CHOC! What did he get you??

FILLISE, oye, what a sweet thought you had for VD and us!!! I have to agree, the greeting card companies and mass retailers do hype of all the holidays. I don't mind the hype on VD, but on more religious holidays I think it's too much and lays a veil over the true meaning of the holiday. Hope with Lent now here you will find the renewal you are so deserving of!!! I didn't get to see the NBC report, I bet it was interesting. I had to laugh when you mentioned SUGAR & KIDNEY BEANS! Just 2 days ago I went to Publix to return 2 cans of kidney beans just because they had not only sugar, but corn syrup! I said the same thing you did-why do they have to have sugars in them! I've found some brands that don't, but most seem to have it.

VES, I don't use anything to combat bloating, other than natural patience. Usually it's not THAT bad for me-just feel my stomach as being "fluffy" for a couple days. You mentioned yogurt-if you like it you should try making your own fruited yogurt. I take 6oz of ff yogurt (I like HORIZON or CASCADE-both available at HFS) and take a fruit I've pureed (and stuck in a ice cube tray and frozen), like strawberries or mango and take one of these cubes that weigh less than an ouce, along with some Stevia and mix it up-delicious!!!!!!!! I truly hope you and SOL can get together for some walks in the near future!!!

TRISH, CONGRATS ON THE PANTS!! You may want to look into a piece of equipment that I have that works the upper body. It's called a POWERBELT. Check out the website http://www.walkerswarehouse.com If you want more information about it, call the head honcho JOSHUA CORN and tell him Debbie from Miami recommended you call him-he's a great guy (have to say, cute too) and his product really is wonderful! Let me know if you have any questions about it.

THUNDER, I will look for what sounds to be a good recipe with apple in it. If you don't see that I posted one within the next week, just remind me, I have a tendency to forget things at my age sometimes!! LOL!!

BUSDEB, you know, even if I can't make it up to Orlando in April to see you, there's a slew of the gals in the area that I'm sure would love to get together!!! Of course, you know I will give it my best shot though!

LAMAP, you made my day!!! I'm thrilled and delighted to hear you will be joining us in March!!!!!! WOO HOO!!! Finally!! Would you plan on staying overnight Saturday? I hope you got some much-needed rest. Sounds like you not only deserve it, but need it!!

MELF, glad to see your post and to see you are staying down in the low numbers!!!

BOB, thanks for posting all that info from the article!!!

MUSIC, sorry to hear all that candy made you feel ill:s: Hope you are feeling better!!!!!!!!!

GATOR, hope you have a wonderful BIRTHDAY!!!!

PHEW! I'm done, for now! I'm gonna go mosey into the kitchen and make a chicken salad sandwich for lunch. I'll check back with you all later. I hope you all enjoy the weekend!!!

I really need to be working, but it is important that I at least stop in here. And I want to respond to Deb's post (above).

Deb--I know exactly what you mean! Even when I am totally OP in terms of what I eat--I still have issues about how much! I'm starting to accept that this is a struggle I will have all my life. There is no such thing as one cookie or bite of ice cream for me--even if it is all SF! In one way it is a little disheartening to see that you are still struggling with it even AFTER reaching (even exceeding) your goal. But more importantly I think it is a valuable glimpse as to how so many of us regain weight after we've lost it (ok everyone now stand if you struggled to lose a large amount of weight only to regain it--perhaps even more--once the "diet" ended). Deb, I congratulate you on continuting to fight the battle so that the cycle will be broken. You continue to teach and inspire even as a skinny minnie! Don't think for one minute you are being a bad example--you are human--and your example is invaluable to each and every one of us on this board to be thinner and healthier humans!

ps--i found kidney beans w/out sugar in the "ethnic" food section--the brand was Goya. They were more expensive, but worth it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GATOR!!

This is going to be short- just wanted to say hello and pass on birthday wishes. I'm still here, buried up to my eyeballs in very non-legal food, trying to get ready to feed the OSU lacrosse team and their parents tomorrow. This afternoon's fun is making huge trays of baked ziti and meatballs, then tonight I'll roast the turkey, and tomorrow tackle the house, salads, dessert trays (all store-bought- I don't trust myself to bake that much). And play shuffle in the oven.

Sounds like a lot of us have been having food problems this week. I've had a horrible time, really the worst since I started SB last July! I don't know if it's the more restrictive BFL program, or if it's because I'm 1/2 way thru it and not really seeing the fat-loss effects I'd hoped for, or I'm just REALLY STRESSED about this lacrosse dinner, but on Wednesday my last meal of the day was a bowl of ice cream (haven't touched the stuff since 7/24/01) and last night I cruised thru every SB legal bit of food in the house. I've still been getting in my workouts, though I feel like what I ate! This has got to stop, as Deb says, and today I WILL eat 100% clean. I don't know about tomorrow with the dinner, but after that, the excuses stop. period.

Well, gotta go empty more pots of pasta....

Bob - Thanks for the FYI on the canadian/russian shared gold medal! I wonder what the russians think about that. It was the French judge who was suspended. Anybody watch the Men's long figure skating program? It's too bad Plushenko didn't win the gold, I thought his skating had more passion than Yagudin, but Yagudin was flawless, and Plushenko made some errors. Timothy Goeble was great to watch! With time, he's certain to win the gold. I can't wait for the Ice Dancing!

Debelli- that's a great idea, freezing fruit puree for yogurt.

Happy Belated B-day Gator Gal! I hope it was a good one!

Just wanted to say Happy Birthday to Gatorgal. Hope it is a great one hon.

I hope you all have a good weekend.....I will try to post sometimes this weekend...it will be a busy one for us.

Deb......I would love to meet any and all of you Orlanda or vicinity ppl.....just let me know if you are interested. I haven't asked the band director yet but I am sure I could be excused from my duties for a little while sometime that weekend. The dates are April 25-28.

Melf--thanks for your sweet remembrance. I know that I don't post every day, and so I was touched by your remembering.
And, FROG--you too. Thanks!
Actually, BOB, you were not late. My B-day is today. My friend took me out to lunch to a French restaurant. I tried to speak French to all the waiters, but none of them spoke any French.!!
And Debbie--That cake looks yummy. But I know it is not SB legal. So won't touch a bite of it! :-)
And Sol, and Fillise and Tree. Thanks for your good wishes. My kids are coming over tonight to fix dinner for me. My DH got me a foot reflexology massage for me for my B-
Day. It sounds like heaven as I love to have my feet rubbed, esp. after a hard day on my feet.

Debelli--I was reading an article about people that have lost weight and now are working to keep it off, like you are doing. The upshot of the article is that it is a life-long journey, and that eating a balanced diet of healthy foods: veggies, grains, low fat meats, and fruits, is a WOE that they choose every day. They allow themselves one day for having a small frozen yogurt cone or small piece of cake or what ever. But they know that they have to stick with a WOE for the rest of their life that will keep them healthy and in control. It reminds me of something that BOB mentioned a while back: a book that she has called "God's Diet." I think God's diet would be fresh fruits, veggies, etc, and no double chocolate cheesecake or banana split. We all identify with what you are going through, and understand the overdosing on SB "legal" foods is not really legal. So we are all with you in this.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GATORGAL!!!

Good evening everyone.

I finally found the agave nectar. I asked the lady at the HFS the last time I was there and she said they didn't have any. So this time when I was there I looked down every isle. I saw 2 bottles of it. Also Debbie, I found the carob and spice cake that you mentioned. When I got home I made the carob. I only had a little 1" square. It was delicious. I also read that someone snacked on carob covered peanuts, so I thought I would look for some. I only found the ones that the HFS packaged up. I didn't buy them because in the ingredients it said "corn and malt barley". It didn't sound legal, so I passed it up.

I have been going over the things I have been eating this past week or so. I really think that I have not been eating enough of the right foods and too many starches. So... I think this next week I will try to not eat any starches. Only veggies, fruit and protein and see if it gets me to losing again. AND of course make sure I get enough water.

I have been glued to the Olympics. I am glad that they gave the Canadians a Gold Medal as well. I thought I heard on the news that even some of the past French judges had been approached by someone. I am not sure if this is in fact true because I only caught a small part of it.

Well, I hope everyone has a great evening.

but I have a new treat recipe that I've adapted from something I found on the Sweet talk board. I made it tonight and it is yummy. I'll put it on the recipe board too, but I just have to share---

you need:

one box SF lemon jello mix
16 oz light creme cheese
1/2 cup agave (or 2/3 cup splenda)

--cube creme cheese and set aside
--disolve SF jello in one cup boiling water
--Add cubed creme cheese and beat until the cheese is melted
--Add the sweetner and beat until very smooth
--pour into a paper-lined mini-muffin tin-and chill very well
--Remove from muffin tins and store in a covered container in the fridge.
--should make around 30.

These are incredible! I only had a mini-mini-muffin tin so I poured some of the mixture into individual dessert dishes--works that way too. With the light creme cheese and the agave, I figure they can't be too bad. This is something that can be made for friends and they don't even have to know (and won't be able to tell) it's "diet" food.

I also made my blueberry muffines (August recipe board) with agave today. I'm rapidly becoming a convert!

I hope everyone has a good evening!

Thanks, Sheann.

Debbie and all the others meeting in central Fla. on the 9th. I checked and there is an Outback in the same shopping center as Whole Foods there in Winter Park. I know that some of you really love Outback, and the prices are good, so wanted to let you know there was one close. There are also a bunch of little bistro type restaurants in Winter Park, on Park Avenue, with all the quaint shoppes, brick street, etc. A lot of the restaurants are ones with sidewalk tables, so eating al fresco is de rigeur. It might be fun for you to try one of those to see how you would put SB to the test at another restaurant.

Gator HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY. Hope you had a good one.

I'm glad that the Canadians will be getting a gold medal but it is too bad that it had to happen this way. I saw some of the ice dancing earlier this evening and one of the commentators said that now they are giving marks according to performance - this was after the Italians had skated and their marks put them in, I think, third place. So lets hope the judges clean up their act.

I've done quite well eating to-day. Managed to stay at least 90% op. Made some more oatmeal cookies this evening. I used a different recipe to the last batch and they turned out very good. The best batch yet. Now I had better stop making them for a while, because guess who eats most of them. Had a good session at badminton to-day. Played for almost two hours with very little space between games. Was babysitting this afternoon and evening. My ds and dil have gone away for the weekend. So I had the two gk's until bedtime then they went to their other grandma. They'll be coming back to me in the morning when the other gm has to go to work. But we are all going out to a movie tomorrow afternoon. The kids want to see Big Fat Liar. Has anyone seen it?

Deb - Congrats on the great walk/jog you had to-day. Boy, you really are getting better every day. I can empathize with you with the problems you are having in eating too much sb legal food. You are not alone. I think that we often forget that even tho it is still op eating too much of it will increse the glycemic load, and consequently our insulin levels which makes us want even more of the treats. The only way I can stop eating the stuff is if I stop making it. That is why for a long time I just didn't want to do any baking, knowing the consequences. Maybe it was a good omen that you found that article on hypoglycemia.

Mel - Hope the dinner goes off well tomorrow. I'm not surprised you are stressed out this week with all the preparation and cooking you've had to do. I hope next week is better for you.

I was hoping to see some more of the ice dancing this evening but I don't know what time it is supposed to be on. So I think I had better get ready to hit the sack if I am going to be fit to take care of the kids tomorrow.

Nite.

Marie.

Good Saturday Morning:wave:

Yucky day out there! Sounds like it's sprinkling-too dark to see out the window, too lazy to look out the door:rolleyes: Thought I'd try to get in walk/jog this morning, but doesn't look like it. No garage sales today, have to take Lauren up to Broward to go to a Bat Mitzvah-have so many hours to kill-ALL BY MYSELF!!!:( Eli's working today-my partner in crime-so will just run around and discover some place new, I am sure;)

I wanted to say one more thing about my post yesterday which is, I think the reason I was feeling those things mentioned in the article I quoted was long before I found agave syrup I didn't touch any sugar since I had started SB. When I finally did find the agave, at the beginning, when I was discovering and experimenting with it, I was able to control what I was eating when I made something with it. I think my body was so use to NOT having ANY sugar, and then when I introduced the agave, in small amounts, it didn't upset my system. BUT, I think in the massive amounts I was consuming (like a cake in 1 1/2 days like last week that had a 1/2 cup of agave in it), it made my system go crazy!

Speaking of that-I think it maybe caused my system to be funky with TOM. Should of gotten it Thursday, still not here today. Not worried, I know it's going to come and once in a blue moon it's a few days late-but usually 26-28 days. I'm glad I haven't gotten on the scale-can't imagine what it would be saying!!!!!!

Anyhow, yesterday was a wonderful day. Eli took me to Outback for dinner which was unexpected. I'm definitely back on track and today is not going to be a problem either:) Life is good:) Oh, and I haven't weighed myself neither!

FILLISE, I have to agree with you, I find I may have won the battle, but the war is not over! I have to view it this way. Being heavy my entire life I know that this is a battle that if I put down my gun, the enemy will creep up and take hold once again. It's happened before in the past and history can definitely repeat itself if I'm not careful. I just wish I could find the reasons WHY I can't control myself around SB LEGAL GOODIES, where I was able to do it with chocolate, even the SB LEGAL kind. Thanks for understanding. LOL! Goya is all over down here-considering there's more Latins than American's these day. Will take a look at that brand next time I go to the store-thanks for the tip! Recipe sounds good, but as you know, I'm not making ANYTHING like that for a while. Actually, I don't bother with the SF JELLO since I believe it has maltodextrin in it. How'd the muffins come out?? Those, I'd make!

MEL, good luck with the dinner-I'm sure it will be a huge success! Hmmm, you're not seeing the fat loss you thought? Maybe you just don't have the fat you think you do to lose??? How'd you do with eating 100% OP yesterday??

TREE, I use a Tupperware ice tray, it has a lid so I just keep the fruit in there til I need a cube. I'm going to make some peach puree this weekend. If you get a fruit that's really sweet no need for the sweetener within the fruit, just a little to sweeten the yogurt and fruit together-hmmm, I just may go get some now!!!

BUSDEB, don't know why I thought/assumed you were coming down with family-didn't know you were coming with the band!!! Check with your director and see what he/she says and let us know.

SHEANN, congrats on getting the agave!! Glad you found the cake mixes too. Did you make the carob cake as it calls for on the box, or did you do the applesauce sub for the oil? I would cut mine in 2 ounce pieces, wrap them in cellophane and freeze them-delicious frozen too! Carob coated peanuts have to be UNSWEETENED to be okay to eat-the other ones aren't so good that you didn't buy them. I don't think cutting out all starches is a good idea either-just try to limit them to 2-3 a day.

GATOR, thanks for the info on that diet and for the Outback. Just want to make sure we go to a place and not have to alter the menu to make it SB LEGAL-just wanted to make sure if needed, an Outback was close by-it's the safest!

ROSALIE, which new recipe for Oatmeal Cookies did you use? I love Oatmeal and so far haven't found one I can say I love. Like, okay, but not love. As you said in regards to the goodies: The only way I can stop eating the stuff is if I stop making it and that's very true-and just what I am doing-or not doing!!!

Well gals, I have to get in the shower to be on the road in an hour. I won't be back til evening. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!!

BREAK OUT THE SHADES!! CRACK OPEN THE POCKETBOOK!! ONLY 12 DAYS OF WAITING LEFT TILL REGISTRATION!!!!!

ONLY 20 DAYS UNTIL I GET TO MEET MARIE!!!! IT'S GONNA BE A PAR-TAY IN O-TOWN!!!

Good morning everyone!

I woke up feeling poopy today. My throat is sore and my whole face and neck feel swollen. I sure hope I haven't caught Vince's flu bug! :(

Today is gloomy and drizzling with bouts of real rain. They say it's supposed to clear up for the Daytona 500 tomorrow - I sure hope so! It will be hard to spot NASCARGIRL and the sign she made for us if it's cloudy.

I'm trying to get motivated to clean house before going to check out SAMS Club to see if it will save us any money. We get free memberships through my job, but since there's only 2 of us and not much space to store stuff....we can't buy tons of bulk items just to save a few bucks. I was going to hit the heavy metal today in the gym, too, but right now I don't think I could lift a 5lb. dumbell. I was tired last night too and just made falafels for dinner and then went to bed.

I wonder if I've got the blues due to a few piece of chocolate that I had, too, after reading DEBBIE'S article.... All the more reason for me to start measuring and weighing my food again and keeping track in www.fitday.com . Vince is very supportive and will allow me the time to climb on the web and post if that's what I think I need to do to be better.

LAMAP - The more the merrier! Of course it's okay to bring your mom. Looking forward to meeting you and her!

MEL I hope your party goes well - I know the hostess will be the best! :D

BUSDEB - Guess we get to start another countdown?? VERY COOL! Looking forward to meeting you, too!!

VESNOID - I learned to rollerblade on Cady Way Trail and lived in those "shady" apartments before I got married! :o Actually, it was a townhouse just one street over from the trail. The Jehovah's Witnesses Spanish Sector would knock on our door every Saturday without fail. They were always suprised that we only spoke English and lived in that neighborhood. IT was cheap and I had no money. I WAS glad to move from there, though. I e-mailed you with my phone number. I hope we get to chit chat before everyone gets here.

BOB - I'm tickled PINK that the Canadians are getting their GOLD that they earned and deserve! I'm wondering why the French judge is the only one catching heat from the media. Noone seems to be looking into WHO pressured her to vote for the Russians and whether or not THAT PERSON should be in any position of authority. I'm sorry but someone who is 'fragile' and 'emotional' should not be in a job that requires you to put your emotions aside and provide 'impartial' assessments of a performance! How the heck did she get that position to begin with!?!

Okay, gonna go try and get some cleaning done. HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!

Howdy,

Another gloomy day- kinda of- we have the clouds but not the rain that Deb is getting, and we sure could use it.

Solshine....thanks for saying it ok for my Mom to join us. It just makes the 3 hour ride less loney, and I am not sureyet whether we will be staying over or not.

Deb....you keep asking what you can bring people when we meet, I would like to see a few of the wrappers fro what you call "legal" chocolate. I haven't seen a piece yet that has the % of chocolate in it. Do you have any ideas as to what people would like from my neck of the woods???? I am trying to find a good recipe that I can try and maybe bring that.

I am really looking forward to meeting evryone. it wiull be great to finally put a live face to the name.

Fillise....that recipe sounds quick and easy and just maybe something that I can handle. Can't wait to get to the store. Thanks!!

Well, on my way to the Y for my swim. I hope all has a great day!

Good Saturday Afternoon

Deb - The recipe I used for the oatmeal cookies was originally from a company that makes oatmeal. I first made it by just substituting agave for the sugar but I have since changed a few more things i.e less butter and a little more flour to get it a way I am satisfied with. When I get it typed up I will post it on the recipe board.

Sol - I am looking forward to the party in O-town. I'm counting down the days too. I hope you aren't getting the flu bug. I don't think a few pieces of chocolate should give you the blues. By the way you describe how you were feeling this morning it does sound like it could be the beginning of the flu. But I hope I am wrong.

Lamap - Looking forward to meeting you and your Mom. I'll be bringing some chocolate with me. I usaully buy the Lindt 70% but there is also an 80% which I am hoping to find. I haven't yet seen any other brands in the stores but I know they are out there somewhere. If I find any other brands I will bring some.

Gotta run. The kids are getting bored and bugging me to play a game. In another hour or so we are going out to see a movie.

Bye for now.

HiedieHo All!!

I have been so busy and not on the Board as I like to be. So many posts!!! I am caught up reading and will try to do a general response.

This week I have not been unable to keep up with myself. Had a WA board meeting at church, two NH visits, three exercise days, choir, Habitat, church, shopping and usual stuff around house. Now I am trying to write up the minutes of the Habitat meeting as I was officially elected recording secretary Thursday night. It is a little hard as I don't know all the names yet without stopping to think. But I have been staying OP.

Thursday night was the Habitat meeting so I missed the men's skating. I stayed up to 3a.m. to watch the rerun. I can't seem to figure out the VCR since we went digital! I know I need to get a life, but the Olympics are only here a short time.

Speaking of the Olympics I am glad to see the Canadians get a gold. It is a shame they couldn't move the bronze up to silver and the next to bronze, but I guess be grateful the controversy was resolved.

Someone mentioned the French judge being condemned and not whoever was her cohort. I agree, the Russian judge who was in on the deal should be condemned too.

The ice dancing is judged differently than the pairs, but I am sure those judges are going to watch theeir Ps and Qs!!! I don't feel the Russian pair deserve a break because of all the girl has been through. What about the girl skater (I forget what country) that skated with a foot broken in two places. In most sports injury is part of the name of the game. The accident on the ice I feel was just that.

I feel sorry for the Russian team, we don't want to forget that they carry no blame for what the judges ruled. They skated the best they could, they have always been inconsistent so I don't feel their little mistakes were a result of being shaken up by the accident in warm-up.

I am pleased to say that my prediction for the men was right on target. Our only hope of a medal was Goebel. It was a toss-up between the two Russians, but I had Yagudin.

Someone wrote about buying special foods for this woe. I buy very few specials. Because we are allowed so many foods, you can eat normal food.

DEB - You asked about Lundi Gras. It is the day before Mardi Gras, basically a warm up or another excuse for a party/parade. Although actually there is no need of excuses in N.O.!!!

SOL - We had a family of Funks in my home town. Poor kids always had to bear jokes about there name. All his life the dad was called Funkie, it's probably on his tombstone!!

LDBLOND - I liked your thoughts. In my work and life I have always counselled people to take care of themselves...don't do as I do, do as I say! Especially when you are the main caretaker of someone you should stop and think of you once in a while. Often when there is a long illness people will ask after the patient with little regard for the caretaker. Sometimes we got so caught up in being wife, mother etc., that we forget the most important one. If we don't take care of ourselves how will be able to cope with our world? You really helped a lot of us think about the direction our lives are taking.

I finally found a HFS that said they could get me agave and by the case!!! I made a lot of calls! Couple of places never heard of it. Price is about 2.88 a bottle including tax, but that's good cause when i could get it by the bottle locally it was 3.49 plus tx.

I was going back and forth between dog show and Olympics. My favorite dog is the collie followed by the Australian Shepherd, poodles are nice but I'd never give mine a haircut like the winning dog!!!

Well, must get back to work on those minutes and some letters I owe.

Take care all. Shirley

I thought I would put this idea in your noggin's ;)

Out of this World

I rolled string cheese inside roast beef, splashed some olive oil on and baked until the cheese was melty!!! Fantastico!

I'll be right back...

Great!
I immediately found something I can use. "Greek-Style Eggs", for my lettuce wraps. Leave out the pita bread, replace it with one or two whole lettuce leaves. Use the lettuce leaves to wrap the whole thing, instead of pita bread.

Tzatziki is easy to make. I use it for broiled chicken, meat, or as a dip for crunchie veggies.

1 T olive oil
1 or 2 t vinegar
1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
1 cup Greekstyle natural yogurt or sour cream or cream with 1T vinegar
1 big cucumber, peeled and coarsely grated, drained
a pinch of dried mint
a little salt and black pepper
olives, to garnish (optional)

Mix the olive oil, vinegar and garlic.Add yogurt, mix. Add cucumber, mint, salt and pepper, mix. Leave the mixture 1-2 hours in the refrigerator. Garnish with a few black olives. Serve lightly chilled, with crispy slices of courgettes, or slices of fried/grilled eggplant. Or serve as an accompaniment to roast meat or roast chicken.

BOB--Yep, it’s the same Whole Foods that we were in before when you were here and we had dinner at my place. The Outback is in the same shopping center, and is to the right of WF as you walk out the front door of WF.

Debbie--as you can see, Outback is VERY close to Whole Foods, and is in Winter Park. It is about 8 minutes drive from the downtown quaint brick street, central park, shoppes and lakes part of Winter Park. There is a Jacobsen’s in downtown Winter Park, along with a Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and lots of other semi-exclusive shoppes. There are, of course, one owner stores that are very arty, including some home interior shoppes and art/jewelery stores. And, natch, lots of cute bistros and places to get something to eat. I think many of them have menus posted so you can see what there is to eat before you go in. And--there is a Starbucks!!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I just fixed some BBQ chicken for dinner, green beans and sweet potato fries (baked, of course). It ws yummy and a had a couple of cheese cake cups for dessert.

For those of you who might not use SF jello--the original recipe was for chocolate-mocha cheese cake. You replace the SF jello with one cup of boiling hot coffee and one packet of knox gelatin. Add one oz of unsweetened bakers chocolate to the coffee creme cheese mixture and viola! The amounts for agava (or spenda) and creme cheese remain the same. I'm going to try that sometime and I'll let you know. I suppose you could use any flavor extract you'd like with the water and gelatin.

I went to a Vacation Bible School preview this morning--I can't believe it is time to start planning for that. It is making me long for summer and warm weather. I was in Dillards this afternoon just staring longingly at the shorts... sigh.

BOB--I can't sit still for the Olympics. After I watched the igure skating Monday night, I just haven't been able to watch. I usually love the winter olympics (better than the summer games). I did the avacado and egg salad for lunch today--major yum!

Deb--hang in there. See what your body does without the agave for a little while. I've cut way back on my sweetners. I've learned to drink my coffee black and so the only sweetner I'm using is what I bake with--and I don't bake very often. BTW--the muffins were quite good! I quadrupled the recipe and made 12 muffins. 3= one serving (one slice of bread, one egg, 1/3 cup milk, etc). I keep them in baggies and they are very handy to grap and take with me if I have to leave the house early. I'm taking a group of girls to Birmingham on Monday and will take some muffins--stop and get a cup of coffee and I'll be set!

SEF--my HFS has agave for 2.99 a bottle. They order small quantities--I should see if they can get me a case. I bought three bottles a few weeks ago and have 2 1/2 left, so I'm not worried. They told me they'd have more this week, so I'll rpoably go get a couple more bottles.

Rosalie--let us know when you put that cookie recipe on the board. Like I said, I don't bake often, but I like to have a stock of recipes so that when I go to getherings where there will be lots of evil food, I can take something that is OP.

OK got to go--it's sat night and I actually have some work I have to do. ick.

BOB - I plan on going out tomorrow to look for the 80% chocolate. If I find it I will definitely pick some up for you.

Fillise - I have posted the recipe for the oatmeal cookies.

I'm going to go pour myself a glass of red wine and go to bed with my book. Hope I can stay awake long enough to read a couple of chapters.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Good Evening (or should I say good morning) everyone!
Had a busy day today. Some friends from New Jersey are in Orlando seeing Disney for the week. We went down there to meet them for dinner. Went to a restaurant in the Wilderness Lodge at Disney. They served this pan of bar b que stuff (huge turkey leg, beef brisket, sausage, chicken, ribs, corn etc) It was gross - cold and greasy and $22.00 per person. So needless to say I didn't eat much - they took it off our bill though, so that was good. The bill was $14.00 for 2 drinks (soda and ice tea) and a kids meal. Rosalie - take lost of $$ if you plan on eating in Disney! :)
Anyway- just remembered I have a hair appointment on 3/9 at 11:00. I will try and call and change it to earlier if you think we are meeting early in the day - since I have to be back by 4pm. I am only about 45 minutes from Winter Park. What time does Outback open?

Ok, to all you experienced SB's. Please bring me anything legal (I will pay you) you think I would like because I am a big cheater and need legal things to keep me on track. I have no will power!! I do good for a day and then bad for a day. Also, what is Whole Foods, I think I've asked before but don't think I got an answer. Is it a health food store?
BOB- are you bringing Agave?

Well its late, so I will go for now. Check with you all tomorrow. My dh will have the race on all day so I'll have to entertain my son.
Nitey Nite

Hello Everyone! Can't believe it's already Sunday. Time is flying by so quickly. The Orlando get-together will be here before you all know it.

I've had a busy weekend. Yesterday met my cousin at a mall for lunch and a movie. We saw Gosford Park. It was fabulous!!! For all the Brit lovers out there, you must see it. There was a familiar face whereever you looked. Maggie Smith is so good in it. And Stephen Fry was hilarious. I would like to go again, because I know I missed stuff at the beginning as I tried to figure out who went with who. Also, loved Helen Mirren's performance in it. She's so great.

After that went over to MIL's house. DH had gone there in early afternoon (and taken Maddie with him) to install Mommy's brand new iMac computer. Whew it's a beauty!!! We met her on Friday night at the computer store so that she could be advised as to what to purchase. While there I got a GREAT deal on a case to carry my laptop. I had been looking for a padded sleeve type thingy to put my laptop in and then carry it inside my briefcase. Well, I found this wonderful bag that kind of looks like a humongous purse and it has a sleeve in it. There are all sorts of compartments and I think I can get rid of my purse and just use this bag. It's so nice and get this . . . it was on sale for $14.13. I about fell over when I saw the price. There's at least $14 worth of zippers in it!!!! So I was thrilled. Now I have to change everything over from briefcase to new bag.

MIL took us out to a chinese buffet place on Friday night. I wasn't too thrilled about that because 1. it didn't look very clean and 2. I usually eat the wrong things when I go for the chinese. She told us yesterday that Paul's uncle who was also along that evening was throwing up yesterday. Yuck! I sure do hope that wasn't something from that restaurant that will hit the rest of us. So far, I don't feel any grumblings down there.

Today we are going into my office. DH is putting in a wireless network in there for us and we want to get started today while nobody is there. Then tomorrow he is off from his job and will go in with me and we'll work more on it. Busy, busy, busy. The girls in my office love DH and call him their boyfriend. He thinks we are all nuts!

I'll respond to everyone after I finish reading. Better go and try to rouse that big slug in the bed. He's still sawing logs in there.

Take care.

I'm still alive and slightly less busy this morning. This weekend has been packed! FIL is here visitng. He and DH wen grouse hunting in the NC mountains yesterday which meant spending Fri night up there. Soooo I spent all day Fri doing the cleaning that really needed to be done, Fri night went to the gym, dinner with a friend, then we rented Legally Blonde. Sat I got up early and went to Wal Mart before the crowd, boxed up my Mom's presents, stood in the 30 min. line at the post office, went to Target and Fresh Market in the next town, came back and went to the gym. About the time I got out of the shower DH and FIL were coming in the door tired and hungry. Just out of breath! WHEW!

Have to tell you about my PEANUT DEBACLE :o as I have come to call it. I've been drinking some protein shakes that have corn syrup in them and I think they may have boosted my sugar cravings a bit. Anyway, Thursday, after constantly seeing chocolate everywhere, I gave in and purchased some chocolate covered peanuts and almonds. Friday morning I couldn't stay out of them! AWFUL! Needless to say I felt like CRAP on Fri night. Bought some legal chocolate yesterday!

Have manged to stay on track with workouts for BFL and may add one today to see if I can undo some of the damage from the peanut nightmare! Just need to see how day unfolds with FIL here.

GOOD NEWS for DH!!! I am happy to report that DH was the lucky recipient of a nice :smug: bonus based on his performance and what is left after Uncle Sam gets his portion will be put to good use. I am so proud of him I could "bust!"

MEL - Sounds like we've all had food probs lately huh? No weighing? WOW! Saw your success post on BFL! Terrific!!! At the end of week 2 I am seeing results but want them faster!!! I want the fat at my mid section to magically melt away following each workout!

RED1 - Welcome and hope you're recovering from the wedding!

SOL - Glad Vince is feeling better, hate that you aren't! Are you sick too? The countdown continues and registration will be here before we know it!

BOB - Love the "wave" icon!

THUNDER - Hope morning sickness is better soon!

BUSDEB - Love Outback! YUM! What was that part about the caloried free dessert? Hmmmmm?

QUILTER - Meant to tell you this Fri, there is a Trading Spaces marathon this weekend on TLC.

DEB - Congrats on getting faster with your walk! Regarding your post about being a "role model." Girlllll, you are even more of a role model in that you also make mistakes and bounce back from them. And that you share them with us and tell us about how you're able to get through the road blocks. If you were always perfect in your approach to this WOE I would probably look to someone else to be an example, because I know I can't be perfect! So thank you for continuing to show your human side and setting an example for me to follow when I goof up, and for reminding me that we still need to have some portion control with the legal stuff!

SEF - You've been busy!! Sounds like you're having fun though!

Well, need to go see about some breakfast! Have a great day! Will check in later!

Peace,
FROG

My neck/sholder/arm are still really giving me problems, but today seems a little better. I hope I'm turning the corner after two doctor visits and 3 different prescriptions! Typing at the computer has been really uncomfortable, so I waited until today to catch up on all the posts.

GATOR - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! Hope it was a wonderful day with many, many more!

DEB - your willingness to tell the board what you struggle with, even after reaching goal, is great. If only the losing the weight was the hard part and that once it was gone it is gone for good:D I'm sure everyone on the board has "been there, done that!" As I was trying to get through some magazines that have been sitting around, I found this article in Prevention. I know you get this magazine, but when I read this, it really reminded me about your past comments about how unhappy you are about your legs and arms:

What about Aerobics?

Although aerobic exercise is essential for strengthening your heart and lungs, alone it is not the most effective way to get lean. And aerobic exercise may be uncomforatable if you are very overweight. Even walking can be difficult, because your joints may start to ache and you can become winded quickly.

If you focus only on aerobics, your overall body shape will stay the same, even if you burn fat. For example, if you are pear shaped, you will just look like a smaller pear if you do only aerobic exercise. And your body will still be flabby.

But the exercises in the "8 Minutes in the Morning" Workout will help you burn fat and improve your body shape. You will tone your shoulders so that your waist looks narrower. Your arms will be smaller as well as firmer. Your abdominal muscles will not only be leaner but also stronger, and as a result, they'll provide better support for your torso.

That's not to say you shouldn't do any aerobics. Prevention recommends that you do about 30 minutes of aerobics every day to keep your heart and lungs strong. Plus it helps to reduce your stress level.

The above is from the November, 2001, issue from an article entitled Fat to Firm in 8 Minutes in the Morning.

I'm not preaching at all because right now I'm neither OP or exercising (but that is changing tomorrow!). Just some food for thought if you haven't tried another type of exercise program besides walking/jogging. I thought the most interesting point from that section was with aerobic exercise you keep your same shape, but it can get smaller, whereas with an exercise program you can actually change your shape. I'm really an apple shape, so when I do lose weight it can be pretty noticeable 'cause it comes from a more specific area, and I know that my arms will be flabby even if I lose a lot. If I want my arms to look good, I will have to do some type of strengthening/toning exercises.

Hope it's a good weekend for everyone! Sorry I'm not responding much to anyone these days. I try to keep up on the reading, but I'm feeling really guilty that I'm so off program and have been unable to pull myself back up. Tomorrow is another day so, along with all of you, I'll be trying my best!

Howdy!

I have been cooking and baking for the past 2-3 days. Busy, busy.
Is granulated brown sugar legal? My best friend made chocolade cake, which is basically 70% cocoa, (and she is a health freak, so I am pretty sure I am safe), but she used brown sugar. If it is not o.k., we can try to bake it with AGAVE, and if it works, I will post the recipe.
LADIES - out of this world yummines!!!!

Deb - I tried your cheescake recipe and... oh boy. I so totally understand now what you mean about not being able to stop. I used to think I had a pretty good self-cotrol, but...! I actually called my friend today and promised the last two pieces to her, just so I wouldn't eat them. I spent the last two days cooking and baking - I made 3 or 4 batches of cookies and now have a great oatmeal cookie recipe - no fat!

Sol - I went to Cady Way with Ricky today, and couldn't really walk with all the distractions. Also, my stupid little radio refused to transmit FM, so I was trapped between Spain and Disney radio. There's just so much Britney an adult should be required to take. Did you make it to Whole Foods? I baked so much, I ran out of AGAVE again. I am actually getting ready to send some cookies to my mom! They are just so nutritious and good for you, how can I not do it.

Gotta run. Will write more on Monday morning.
BTW - I am still looking for a good PROTEIN BAR RECIPE. The store bought are just so expensive!!!

BOB - Dixie did not go hunting with the guys. Grouse hunting is extremely tough due to the hilly, thick-brush terrain. That type of hunting is also more suited to a pointer rather than a retreiver, so she stayed here and protected her mommy. DH and FIL had a guide with a pointer that was a hunting machine! Dixie is not in shape anymore for the terrain :( . My FIL reported that they will be getting another Lab in a few weeks when they get back from vacation. I'm glad for them, the sadness and guilt have been too much for all to take.

Off to make some dinner and watch the Canadian's get the medal they so deserved! Hope all have had a great weekend and have a nice week ahead.

Hi All!

Had a couple of minutes and thought I'd come here.

I've been staying pretty well OP. Went to a friends' place last night and brought hummus and triscuits. I did have 3 little potato chips, but that was it! I've been trying to write down what I'm eating and it helps me a lot. I do have to try to NOT eat so much fatty stuff (nuts, cheese, cream) but I'm eating more OP so I'll just have to work on fine tuning it.

I had a chocolate craving the other night and stayed OP by brewing up some coffee with some cocoa and a bit of cinnamon in with the grounds. added agave to sweeten and some cream and I thoroughly enjoyed it and had no more craving.

I've been doing the BFL exercise plan for 3 whole weeks now! I really like it. I'm enjoying the weights a lot more than I thought! I've noticed my biceps are bigger and when I was shaving my legs I noticed my calves are getting harder! So something is working. I'd love to have the fat melt off my middle magically, but I'll just have to keep working at it.

We're still trying to make plans on our reno. We're going to be nearly doubling the space we have now! So much of the behind the wall stuff to figure out, but I think we're getting there.

DEBELLI Thanks for answering the mandelbrot question. I also wanted to say THANKS for sharing with us your trials and tribulations. As someone else said (sorry! I can't remember who to credit) this makes you a wonderful role model. We can all see that you're human and stumble and create some "learning experiences" like the rest of us. But as you posted from Ralph Marsten you "Get Back Up". I sometimes think that my typed words don't come out in the way that I feel or I can't quite put into words what exactly what I want to say. So I'll just give you ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) and say thanks so much in sharing such personal stuff and support to help the rest of us to learn how to change our WOE to a healthier one. You are truly an

TO EVERYONE ELSE I need to give you all ((((((((HUGS))))))))) to. We all learn from each other and the support on this board is the best! Like I said to Deb, I can't always find the right words to write, but you all are important to me. Thank you :angel:s

I have a quick question to anyone doing BFL or other weights: I've noticed a lot of veins around my bicep. I don't remember seeing so many under the skin before doing the weights. Anyone else experience this???

I have to go now! have a great evening!

HEY EVERYONE!!!!

I just heard from Missy and wanted to share with you what she said. I'm sure that she won't mind if I just copy her email to the board.

"Hey girls!

Just wanted to let you all know that my surgery went well. They didn't
have to make the big incision - was able to get everything out with just
the laporoscopy. The reason I was having so much back pain is because
the endometriosis was embedded in my ligaments in my back - so that
explains the pain! Well, all is well and I'll be heading back to work
on Tuesday if I'm feeling up to it! Thanks for all the prayers!

Love
Missy"

Hope everyone is enjoying this GEORGOUS weekend...it's abou to come to an end and it's back to the SALT MINES tomorrow...

Evening All:wave:

(The following was started Sat. night)

I am POOPED! Pooped and pissed out-literally. I must of hit every URINATION STATION between here and Broward! On the way to take Lauren I had to run into McDonalds, had to make another pitstop at Michael's Craft Store and Publix-hit Carbolite, went there-I was non-stop today!!!!!!!! Don't know what got into me today, but I sure know what went out! LOL!!!

The day went by fast, thankfully. I ran around to all the stores I haven't been to for a while, including the Indoor Flea Market where I got fruits and veggies.

I even bought a pair of pants today-They had a size 2 and a size 6, no size 4-but they looked like they ran big, so I took them both in-I just about died when the 2's not only fit, but were a bit loose. Now don't you all get excited, I am NOT a 2. These are Calvin Klein pants and I am a size 6 in jeans (at least the last time I tried them on). I do believe they were either a) mis-sized or b)run very big-cause I'm no more a size 2 than the Queen Mum! You'd think one would be happy to see herself get into that size 2, and it's nice to see, but then again, when you are trying to find something that fits, it makes it all that much harder! You don't know what to bring into a fitting room anymore! In some things no even an 8 will fit me! Go figure. I still think the fashion industry needs to make womens clothes sizing as they do for me-they have it sooo much easier!!!!!!!!! NOW, the big thing is trying to find a top that will match the pants-otherwise, these babies go back!!! I don't care how good of a deal they were!

SUNDAY

Hey All!!

Don't remember what happened that I wasn't able to get my post done last night but I'm ready to get this on here now!

The day started our WONDERFULLY! I got in my walk in this morning and BEST NEW JOG/WALK TIME EVER!!!!YES! I BEAT MY BEST TIME OF JUST THE OTHER DAY!!! I did it in 43:28!!! At first I thought I'd just beat it by 4 seconds and then realized it was by 10 seconds! I was thinking, most people wouldn't think even 4 seconds was such a big deal but then I thought, hey, if this were the Olympics, 4 seconds would be a big deal and here I was with 10 seconds less-what a surpise that was!!! What a natural high I got!!!

Today I went to the COCONUT GROVE ART FESTIVAL, it's one of the largest in the US. Eli wanted to go to church, so he dropped me, the kids and my Mom and her friend off and we all went our seperate ways and looked around-it was one of the best shows yet-lots of new and exciting artists-it was a wonderful show!

Afterwards it was off to Ole Ole (of course) and then Carbolite -which I had yesterday and today:^: We stopped at Penneys where my Mom's friend bought 2 pairs of Clarks shoes for $11.99 after my discount and sale price-she was thrilled-the savings on the receipt was $125.92 (from reg. price).

I have to tell you, I stepped on the scale today. After pissing like a race horse yesterday I just HAD to step on the scale-and boy, was I happy to see 122!!! The last 3 days I've been totally OP and haven't had an SB LEGAL GOODIE other than the Carbolite. What a difference I feel when I'm totally OP and not over-indulging on SB LEGAL GOODIES!!!!

I wanted to mention an article for those of you who have PCOS that's in the newest issue of WOMEN'S DAY What I found interesting from my perspective was the main symptoms of PCOS are things I experienced before PCOS was even a word I'd ever heard of about 20 years ago. The article says:

DO YOU HAE PCOS

Some women have only one or two symptoms, while others have an array. This is what to look for:

Irregular or absent periods (I had both)
Trouble getting pregnant (went to a fertility Dr.)
Miscarraiges (I had a few)
Overweight or obese, or difficulty losing extra weight (all 3 for me)
Excessive amounts of facial hair, or thinning hair on head (I had a beard and had to have electrolysis!)
Acne (I had zits)
Diabetes (thank gawd this is one I didn't have-except gestastional when I was pregnant)
High blood pressure, cholesterol or triglycerides (who knew, was too embarrased to go to the Dr.)
Dark skin patches around your inned thighs, armpits or neck (thighs)

So I think waaay back then I had PCOS-don't know for sure, but looking at all my symptons I think a self-diagnosis seems safe to say. Just thinking how weight loss has changed so much of these things, and I no longer have them! Anyhow, the real reason I mentioned the article was that I thought those of you who suffer from PCOS may be interested in getting a copy and reading the article:)

Okay, time to respond to you all....

SOL, are you feeling better? Hope so!!!:) Hey, when you get a chance do you think maybe you can get some copies of menus for the places in the area you mentioned so when we are at your house we can look them over and see if there's something we can all agree on beforehand??? ALSO, if they could accomodate our group.

LAMAP, LOL! How did you even figure I'd be the kind of person to save chocolate bar wrappers? I DO! I have them and will be more than happy to bring them so you can take a gander. I haven't a clue what you have in your area-don't worry about bringing anything in particular. I'm sure whatever you decide to prepare will be just fine. Again, you have not idea how happy I am that you are coming to O-town-you'll be kicking yourself for missing the ones in the past when you get to meet everyone!! ;) Hope you had a great swim!!!

ROSALIE, can't wait to see the OATMEAL COOKIE RECIPE-though I promise I won't be making it any time soon! You know that story!

BOB, yep, as GATOR said, it's the same store we stopped in and you and ELI had a good time with the olives! The one near me has even more of a variety now. Wish you'd of been down with me yesterday too-could of gotten into some major trouble!!!

SEF, once again, reading your busy schedule has me tired!!! Hey, my Mom keeps telling me about these MUFFELTOS-what the heck are they exactly??? Are you going to order a case of agave-still a decent price-SRP is $2.99 a bottle. Shouldn't be any tax, it's a food item-then again, maybe your state taxes on food??

BOB, funny you posted that recipe, last night I made YOGURT AND CUCUMBER for Eli and it's basically that recipe without the oil, pepper & vinegar! He loves it!!! Thanks for posting that site-will check it out later!! Please let me know how you like that new clorox cleaner-have thought about getting it but haven't. I even have a $5 rebate for it! Thanks for the update with FRUIT-tell her my thoughts are with her. Glad you two are keeping in touch!!

GATOR, sounds like a nice area to be-asked SOL to check out the menus if she gets a chance-would make it easier. Thanks for the Starbucks heads up-I'm sure we'll be stopping at one at some point throughout the day!!

FILLISE, I have so many sweet potatoes that I bought with intentions of making sweet potato fries, but haven't-wish you were here to make them for me!!!;) I think I could make that recipe you mentioned with my own gelatin and with lemon juice? I would definitely get some agave by the case if you can!!!

HAPPY, I KNOW you are going to change that appt-you're giving them 3 weeks notice, they shouldn't have a problem with changing it for you-no excuses-you HAVE to be there!! We'll do the brunch at SOL, but I think we'll be going out to dinner after you've left. I think we are going to met at SOLS house around 10:30am, so keep this time in mind. Yes, WHOLE FOODS is a HFS and we would like to make a trip there on Saturday at some point. If you like WW pita, I can bring you some of that. FEARN CAKE MIXES, carob and/or spice flavors. What do you like-I have a ton of things you could use but not sure what you like!

QUILTER, I heard GOSFORD PARK was good, so was glad you suggested it. I think someone else, possibly ROSALIE mentioned it as well. Guess I'll have to put it on my must-see list. I heard that this new movie IRIS is suppose to be good too, but it's only playing in 1 theater in all of Miami at this time. Good price on that bag Miss Bargain Finder! Hope you didn't get sick from that Chinese place-nasty!!!

FROG, okay, what the heck is a GROUSE???? You have me stumped! We must of been thinking alike again-I went to the [color=greenFRESH MARKET[/color] yesterday as well. Got some of their Sourdough Pretzels. Okay, what the heck were you thinking of when you bought those choc. covered peanuts? Just like, what was I thinking of when I made that carob cake the other day!!! Tell BP congrats on the bonus!! Thanks for making me feel better with such kind words-believe me, I share EVERYTHING with you all-no holes barred!! Oh, I'm definitely human-that's for sure!!

KAREN, I hope things get better with you-pain sucks! Thanks for posting those past PREVENTION articles. I love that magazine and read it from cover-to-cover but always tend to forget what I've read. I know I have to change my routine or add to it to change some of my body shape-just have to find something I know I will do.

VES, nope:nono: any sugar, brown, green, blue-it's all not legal-sorry. You sure have been a busy beaver-I hope you have better self control than I do. Glad you liked the cheesecake recipe!!!

ZANNE, glad to see you are journaling again and it's helping-me too! Thanks for the {{{HUGS}}} and the nice words-you guys are the greatest!!

Well, tomorrow is a new week and a new board. Please remember it's MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY tomorrow so if you have any good words of wisdom, quotes or stories you'd like to share, please, try to post them tomorrow.

Have a wonderful evening!

Thanks, Zanne and Karen. I did have a good day.

Slaphappy--Whole foods is a upscale HFS. It has a big cheese section with all types of gourmet cheeses. It has a large wine section, a specialty coffee section, and a bakery and deli. It is more gourmet pure foods rather than just a HFS. It has only a small vitamin dept. Lots of its fruits and veggies are organic. The fresh fish section is wonderful, with sushi quality fishes. You can also get duck breast there, along with other non-steroid treated meats.

BOB--I have a meeting on the 9th. All day, but it is in Winter Park! Depending on what goes on during the meeting, I may be able to meet y’all for dinner. I’ll know that Sat. afternoon. :(

Karen--BTW, even if you fail we still love you and want you here. I certainly am not perfect and slip all the time. And I keep posting!

Good evening everyone! I've got a purring kitty curled up in my lap and am already in my jammies. It's been a long day and I have a longer one ahead of me tomorrow. Time to relax!

Deb--congrats on the size 2s--it doesn't matter whether they are missized or not. I know what you mean about not knowing what size to take into the dressing room with you! Some standards in sizing would be nice. I'm sure you could try the cheese cake recipe with lemon juice and geletin. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

BOB--it is good to hear that everything went well with Missy. Give her my love. I also think the orange jello would be wonderful int eh cheesecake cups. Speaking of cremesicle-s-Super Walmart's BlueBunny yougurt has an orange creme flavor that is wonderful! That, the key lime and the lemon chiffon are like eating pie filling--but they are SB legal.

Vesna--Brown sugar is a no-no. Any sugar, for that matter is bad for us. It doesn't really matter what form it is in--sugar is evil! Try the agave. I haven't tried making any cakes because it seems to be that the WW flour would make them too heavy. I saw a TV show on the food network that said that cake flour is the most refined flour--that makes it the most likely to spike the blood sugar!

Karen--glad you are felling better--been there and done that with the neck.shoulder/arm stuff. You have my sympathies because it is NO FUN!

Frog--sounds like you had a busy weekend. Has your kitty had her surgery yet? I've got to take Miss Belle next week, but she is so tiny I'm worried about it. I know it is routine, but she still looks so small--only weighs 3 1/2 pounds. I'm just a nervous mother I know!

Time to go. I probably won't be on the board tomorrow so will see everyone Friday.

Susan
