Would love to hear about your successes and joys on South Beach! Always looking for inspiration. :)

SBD rocks because I can cook Phase I meals for my husband and he doesn't notice he is on a diet.

South Beach rocks because I get to cook and eat delicious food and not feel deprived.
Also because I can have an occasional glass of wine or piece of chocolate.

SBD rocks because it is the only "diet" I have ever been on and felt in control. I do not obssess with food like have in the past. I love the fact that I don't have to count anything

I adore south beach because:
1. I hardly feel like I'm on a diet - it's more a way of life!
2. I love the fact my family is on the diet by default, and I know I'm feeling them foods that will keep them healthy
3. The amount of energy I have while on SB rocks!

Granted, I'm only 10lbs into this but it's been a great experience for me over the past month!

the full of energy feel you get from the foods it's lifestyle allows you to eat and also that the fact it allows for cheats

These are great! Let's keep adding as we go along!

I agree with everything y'all said. Every diet I've been on in the past has been too count-y, too complicated, or too restricted--and I was always thinking about how good it would be "afterwards," meaning that it would end and I'd be able to stop dealing with those annoying things!

With South Beach, I really feel as though I'm learning how to eat properly and healthfully for the rest of my life. :yay:

Yes, that's a good one for me too, luna.
SB rocks because it has taught me what sane, normal eating is all about. It's that secret that it seemed everybody else always knew, but I never really got.

I agree with not having to really count anything. Of course, being me, I track everything anyway to see how many calories, how much fat, how much protein, etc. I am taking in each day, but I don't HAVE to do that :p

I also like that I can stick with SB principles while still adhering to other goals I've set for myself. For example, I can focus on eating whole foods instead of lots of processed foods, avoid trans fats and HFCS, get at least 100g protein a day, etc. These are all things that have worked for me in the past, and they fit right in with SB.

Another reason...

I have always loved to cook, but this is teaching me to explore and be creative and try new things. I have discovered so many new foods and different ways of preparing the old ones. I am spending so much time in the kitchen and loving that. I have become quite the chef.

Steak and shrimp and lots of it!

Not counting points, not weighing and measuring unless it's for a recipe, cooking new recipes that my family likes, feeling full in between meals, seeing the scale go down, wearing my "skinny" jeans again, being able to share here with others.

I love that SB is so forgiving. If you mess up, you just go back to P1 for a couple days to the full two weeks to smash those cravings and then head back to P2.

South Beach rocks because it's the only diet that has actually inspired me to learn to cook! And my fridge is really pretty now with all the colorful veggies and whole foods.

South Beach rocks because....

It makes sense and it's healthy

It's teaching me to eat for life instead of living to eat

It shows results fairly quickly which is a great motivator

I can do it while on the road for work and having no other option but eating at restaurants

Good thread, Bella!

South Beach rocks because....

It instills principles for life.

It makes you realize how many healthful goodies you were missing out on before (I say that as I chomp on a huge bowl of veggies....4.5 cups a day seems like a lot when it's veggies and like nothing when it's some bad for you carb...but now I know I was really missing out on my nutrition!)

It's flexible. Life moves and bends in strange ways, so your "diet" should be able to keep up with you.

And so many more! :)

Because I don't feel deprived. :)
I'm not obsessed with an eating plan or counting or measuring. I'm not having to be obsessed with food period. :dizzy:
I like what I'm eating. :)
The recipes in the book are good! :)
I am amazed at how much food I'm eating and how often. When I do enter what I'm eating into FitDay I am amazed at how few calories it is. :D
This way of eating allows low-fat dairy. Two other ways of eating I tried restricted dairy to no-fat. This tasted so bad to me that it about eliminated dairy. :)
I know I'm not supposed to feel hungry. And I rarely do feel hungry. It's only temporary and only when I've gotten caught up in something and haven't had a chance to eat my snack.
I feel good.

And I'm losing weight steadily. I lost 14 pounds from April to December. Then I started South Beach and I lost 14 pounds from mid-December to early February.

South Beach rocks because:

- I am so much healthier now than I was a year ago - eating better food, avoiding more processed foods (really reading labels), excercising regularly.

- Even when I have off days (or weeks) - many of my choices are still better than they would have been - a true lifestyle change, not just a diet. Yeah, I may have ice cream for dessert, but I still have 4.5 cups of veggies and cook with whole grains.

- It showed me I was stronger and more in control (at least of my own body)than I had previously thought - so empowering!

It also rocks because I FEEL so much better, independent of any weight loss. I just FEEL good all over. (Can you see me smiling? I swear, I am smiling. You can tell in my post, right? Do I need to post a picture of my big cheesy grin because I feel so goooooood?)
