South Beach Diet - I'm new too and starting Phase 1

View Full Version : I'm new too and starting Phase 1

02-04-2008, 12:29 PM

I'm new and have been reading through the boards. I'll add my thread and maybe we newbies can group up together for this phase for support.

I don't have many idias for a cute thread name , but that would make it fun too. Maybe Newbies In February?

I am here because:

I have borderline diabetes, and high triglycerides. The new Dr. was not fond of the Nutritionists diet for my diabetes. It controlled my sugar, weight started coming off, but the T's are still way to high. The new Doc recommended the SB diet, so here I am.

Married 35 years, ( that tells you I'm old):D

I am not the most computer literate woman, and I wonder if my smiley face will show up when I post this...............

Mom and Grandmom . MOther to 3, grand Mum to 2. A foster son still visits frequently and I get to me the honored grand mum to his 2. I like it a lot !

Nurse......its hard sometimes to not argue with Dr.'s and Nutritionists. But I have seen the awful effects of diabetes, and I want to keep all my fingers and toes.

Current weight, 190, needs to be 140. I haven't figured out how to do the cute gizzie at the end of the post yet. :dizzy:

For breakfast I had my version of bubble and squeak.
Cabbage, onions, mushrooms and turkey sausage. I'm now off to eat my cheese stick before I hit the grocery store for veggies and fish. I'm gonna miss eating my apple these two weeks!

Think Red. Keep your heart healthy

Welcome Kay & Nyk Good luck to you both

:welcome3: to Kay and Nyk!

We love it when each Newbie starts a thread of their own to introduce themselves, as you did, Kay! It gives us a chance to respond to you personally and get to know you better. The Phase 1 thread is a great place to get support from others doing P1...not all of them are newbies, as we go back to P1 from time to time to get rid of cravings after a cheat or after something sneaks into our food.

Good for you on using the computer anyway, Kay! :cp: My mom just turned 70 and she is a computer wiz! ;) We have quite a few grandmothers on 3FC, so you're in good company!

So, are you of British decent? Bubble and Squeak gives you away... ;)

Hi'll do just great.

About missing that apple...yep, you may, but when you start eating fruit, just wow! I've never been a big fruit eater, but that first apple I had after that first two weeks...well, it was just amazing and so very yummy and sweet and worth waiting for, believe me!!!

I've been doing the SB WOE for 10 months now and have lost that 50 you are trying to lose and we are probably about the same age. It did not come off fast, but it came off steady and sometimes in "spurts" and sometimes in "stalls". I look a good 15 years younger now too. You are going to be very happy with yourself!!!
