Last night wasn't so great as far as diet goes... Some bad news threw up my day upside down... but i will be back on track february 1st! New month, new challenge ;) As far as i am concerned i would like to reach the 180's by the end of February! What's about you ladies?

Flo & SweeP Thanks for the congrats. This week has been frustrating for me, though! According to my scale I am up .5 lb. from my weigh in last Sunday. I am hoping it will drop again before Sunday! I am blaming it on my TOM. Hopefully I'll start soon and some of
that bloat weight will go away...not to mention my PMS insanity!
Great idea starting a new thread! :thanks:

Today I pulled out some of my old jean shorts that I used to wear years ago. I tried them on and couldn't even get them past my kneecaps. Seriously wasn't expecting that. Amazing! I did however hang them up on my wall so I can see where I want to be when I reach goal. Also, I am finally on the decline again. Thinking back over my week I still can't figure out what I did wrong...must have been something in my LG that wasn't so lean but for the next couple of days I think I am going to pass on the LG and just stick with MF meals.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

I found a few comments on the MF board so I am pasting them here!
Keep up the good work everyone! Happy weekend. Stay strong.
PS I haven't tried any of these. Check out the last one, it sounds very good. I don't have strawberry shake but I'd bet vanilla will work
****
Soup Chips
1 packet MF Cream Soup (Tomato, Chicken, or Broc.)
1/2 tsp baking powder
3-4 TBSP water (Tomato seems to need a little more water)
Mix this up and put it into a pie pan that you have sprayed with Pam. Microwave for about 3 minutes. This will spread out and flatten. You may have to vary the cooking time based on your own microwave. It will become fat and look like a crepe or a tortilla. You should be able to lift the edges with a spatula and flip this over. Microwave anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes, until fairly crisp, but not burnt. Cut into wedges and you have chips. They usually get a little crisper as they cool, so you will have to experiment to get them the way you like them. I ate a lot of "soup leather" until I cracked the code on this! You can season these with sea salt, Mrs. Dash, ranch seasoning, etc. Put them in a baggie and there you go, an easy, portable meal!
*****
When I make chips, I make them on a pancake skillet (one packet makes 9 chips for me, and I can fit them all on at once). I add about 1/4 cup water and cook like pancakes (have to watch - 2nd side cooks fast!). Then I'll put on a paper plate and stick in the microwave for 90 seconds to crisp them up. Makes wonderful chips!
*****
I've had the most success with my chips by using parchment paper! Spread the mixture thin-- and microwave about 3 minutes or so (depends on your microwave). They come right off the parchment paper-- no need for Pam-- and no need for cleanup! Quick-- easy-- and yum!
OMG....I tried the Cream of Tomato bread that has been posted on here many times & it was so good.
Mixed it all together in a dish, sprayed a microwave safe plate with cooking spray, spread the pasty mixture on the plate a bit & cooked for total of 3 minutes. Cooked for 2 minutes & then 30 seconds each & checked it
Let it cool for a few minutes & then used 1 tblsp regular cream cheese & spread it over it. It was a really yummy treat since we can't have any bread or chips for real. I will definitely do it many more times & will even try it with some of the other cream soups,
*****
I have received several requests to re-post this recipe, so here it is:
I made the breakfast bread out of the strawberry shake - used 1/2 t of baking powder, 1/4 cup eggbeaters and spread it fairly thin in the bottom of my pyrex baking dish, nuked for about 2 minutes.
Then I mixed 1 T of lowfat cottage cheese with 1T of Walden Farms marshmallow cream, put it in the strawberry "crepe" I just made, and topped it with a little WF strawberry fruit spread. It was a cheese blintz!!! So incredibly good! Here is how it looked:

Thank you so much, Brooke. We're going shopping, so I wasn't sure what I was going to do about eating since I'm not sure I'd have access to a microwave. To tell you the truth, right now I just want to say (*$@& it and eat a big fat greasy cheeseburger. I got mad at my husband for making a crappy frozen pizza for dinner while I had leftover corned beef and cabbage for the third time this week. I don't really feel good enough to cook. I didn't even finish the cabbage. I just couldn't choke it down....<sigh>

I know the feeling! It's so bad sometimes but it's worth it when our jeans are loose and people are noticing isn't it? Hang tough.
OK, I tried the last thing and it's great!! It is better warm, gets tough as it cools. I had orange and it was so so because it tasted like orange bread. I put cottage cheese on it. I made my daughter one with chocolate and it was good. It would be great with cream cheese but I didn't do it on hers. I am thinking vanilla shake and cinnamon would be good. I don't know if they would travel but it's worth a try.
I just tried the chips with the cream of broc soup. It's cooling so I'll report back. I am hoping they get crispy, I miss crispy chips! I am not fond of the smell of cr of broc though. Cr of Tomato would be better.
brookelizabeth
02-01-2008, 07:49 PM
Wow! I have chips! I still don't love the cr of brocc taste or smell but I am ignoring it.
mix and put in a micro dish. I used a pyrex pan, round. I spread it pretty thin so it was about the size of a dinner plate. There were a few tiny holes in my batter. Microwave 3 mins and use a spatula to get under it and flip it.
Microwave 30 more seconds.
It hardened after a few mins.
Very portable.

I want to try this
Sundried Tomato Bread
one pack of Cream of Tomato soup
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 cup of egg beaters southwestern flavor
tiny bit of salt and pepper
mix well in a glass bowl, then mircrowave about 1.5-2 minutes (you have to watch it, but you can take it out and look at it and make sure there are no soupy parts). DO not spray the bowl with PAM, it does not stick,
Take it out, let it cool, cut in half with a bread knife..... this is a great mock sundried tomatoe bread. You can spray with a little I can't believe it is butter, or put just a thin slice of lunch meat or laughing cow cheese in it and eat as a sandwich.
You could use other Cream Soups with regular eggbeaters as well.

Hey everyone. I wish I could get my signature line to work!
I have now officially lost 13 lbs! Yahoo.
I also got into a pair of jeans this morning that I couldn't get into for awhile.
Flo-I think your weekly weigh in is what dooms you. If you weigh more often you can see all of the fluctuations. Also what time of day do you weigh in? If I weigh in even a couple of hours after I get up instead of first thing I can go up on the scale. I prefer the lower number!
I am also ending my fourth week and I do love this program. I have to say that I tend to add more than you probably should. I eat SF jello everyday, and I always have Laughing cow cheese on celery or the MF crackers.
Have a GREAT weekend. I am going to an all day MF training tomorrow, it will be fun to be in a room with all MFers!

I shouldn't have even had the diet coke (I haven't had one in 2 weeks). I had NO desire to have that cake!!!!! Someone asked me why I wasn't having cake, I said, "I lost ten pounds. Next weekend is my daughter's birthday...<sigh> That'll definitely be an exercise in willpower. My stepmother is making the cake and her cakes are good. I don't know how you did it, Samara - birthday cake is one of my weaknesses...

Good job Samara!!!
Kim, what did you make? I don't have cr of Tomato or I'd try it in bread. Hope your travels go okay. For the lean you could just go to fast food and get a grilled chicken sandwich plain and then dump the bun.
Birthday cake, specifically the frosting is my biggest weakness of all. People tease me about my frosting addiction. I pick all of the roses off of cakes. So, how about if you ask to have the cake in a flavor that the bday girl will like but you won't? Maybe bubble gum or cherry? I like vanilla so if the cake were chocolate that would keep me away.
I have vowed not to have cake until my daughter's wedding which is in 11 months!
We can do it!!
My weigh in is tomorrow. :o

Me again.
I made the oatmeal waffle this AM and it was very good!
1 oatmeal packet (blueberry was excellent)
1 egg white or 2 Tbsp egg beaters
1/2 tsp baking powder
add water to form a batter
You could add cinnamon, splenda etc. but I didn't have to
It made 2 of the square waffles and was just like a waffle! I am not sure how it
would keep.

I have been on MF for 120 days as of today. I can honestly say that this diet has changed my life! I am wearing jeans size 8 or 10 instead of size 18. I feel so incredibly energetic. One of my daughters weighs 55 pounds, so I have a real understanding that I lost a lot of weight.
I will tell you that, hands down, the best MF meal is the chocolate puddings made into a shake by using 8 ounces of water, some ice, and a packet of splenda.
All of that said, I am now considering adding one piece of fruit a day and slowing down my rate of loss. It seems sort of processed to keep eating powdered food, and I am ready to start transitioning back, very slowly, into real life.

So, tell us about your jouney please! What did you eat, what did you do for exercise. Did you have troubles? Did your weight ever stall?
I think adding a piece of fruit sounds like a sensible start to getting back to normal. Oranges are really good right now, I have only been on MF for 2 weeks.
For the rest of us, if we are strong and stay with MF we'll be able to enjoy the wonderful blueberries all summer as we sit in shorts! I always call capris my fat lady shorts!
I am going to try your choc pudding recipe right now! It's saturday, I am behind on my MF and I've had zero water. tsk tsk

This program is definitely changing my life, too! I was looking at your ticker....have you lost 58 pounds in 120 days? Did you do another diet program before you started MF? I have been doing this for exactly 4 weeks (yesterday). I think I've lost 14 pounds since I started.....I'll weigh in tomorrow. I broke down and bought some sugar free popsicles yesterday to get me through a 'hunger spot'. I ended up eating 2 (not at the same time). I really think it saved me from eating a bag of bagels!
Also, I was wondering if any of you ladies have had this diet affect your TOM? Mine is late, I'm hanging onto water weight AND I feel like a crazy woman! I thought I read somewhere that the soy and the reduced calories could affect your cycle, but now I can't find where I read it. I really hope it starts soon!
Great work everybody! Have a wonderful weekend! :carrot:

Brooke: I made them with Cream of Chicken soup. It was okay, but a little chewy. I had them for snack. For lunch I had a grilled salmon salad with parmesan peppercorn dressing (which I just dipped the tines of my fork in - so I had less than half). We're back and for dinner I'm going to have crab legs. Now - am I off program? Yes. Am I going to lose my ketosis? No. Will my weight loss stall? Maybe. I'm a frosting junkie, too. I always pick the piece with the most icing. I"m going to have a piece next week, though. I've already decided.

Hello Ladies,
I began MF on Wednesday the 30th. EEEK! 250!!! :faint:
As of this morning -6 lbs. Is that normal? It's kinda fast. I'm following the plan and drinking more water than I have ever have on a daily basis.
I've not tried any recipes but have had to "doctor" things a bit to make them more palatable. I found that the odd after-taste on the shakes really got to me. So, I add about 1/4 - 1/2 tsp of crystal lite to it ( orange to the orange shake and the raspberry green tea to the strawberry shake ). It made them delicious. I also tried the Morning Star Farms Mushroom Lover's burgers tonight. Hopefully they're not too off plan. They're delicous and much less awful than I normally eat (complete fast-food junkie).
Maybe that's why I'm losing quickly. I usually eat A LOT of fast food. So maybe my body appreciates the lean and green so much, it's giving me a gift.

Hi everyone.
I spent all day in a Health coach training. One BIG thing I learned is to maximize our weight loss we need to stop doing all of these recipes:nono:
We can do them once in awhile to change things up, but people who lost the quickest are the ones who followed the; oatmeal, shake, soup, shake, L&G and pudding or hot drink etc.
And of course WATER,WATER, WATER.
I have always added things like sugar free jello, laughing cow cheese etc. While these things are Ok and legal, it will slow down the progress.
I am recomitting myself to the BASICS starting Monday and see if I can see more results at the scale.
My coach and I started at the same time and she has lost 1/2 again as much as I have. She follows the plan closely.
I also got to try the new momentum flavors and they are great! Very tasty and they are supposed to speed your metabolism to burn an additional 100 calories.
Anyway interesting and inspiring group of people. People who have lost over 150 pounds were there and they looked great!
Have a great superbowl and watch the "legal" snacks!
I am cutting up cucumbers and celery and arming myself with a GALLON of water:dizzy:

Thanks for the help, it must have been a fun day.
Did they say if not drinking the water has an effect? That's the one thing I do not do. And did they say how many of the new drink things you can have a day? I thought you could only have 2 crystal lights.
You can make the chocolate with coffee and ice, that changes the taste. Chocolate is my favorite, I don't care for the fruit drinks. Funny how we are all so different that way.
Tomorrow is my weigh in day! :p

I do have a bit of a problem with my conferences. Perhaps I'll mix my shakes before my conference and take them with me.

Vbevens - I have pretty much (except for yesterday) not altered the program or the mixes except to add a Splenda or two. I've lost 18 pounds in a month. I don't think the sugar-free jello a day (5-10 calories) is going to slow the weight loss, but other things like the Laughing Cow are more significant - calorie, fat-gram, and carbohydrate wise. I have only made one recipe and that was the Cream of Chicken soup chips I made yesterday. I don't think I'll do that again, except in an emergency. I can't help but believe all that baking powder will affect the total carbs for the day, and we're like at the top limit of ketosis when we're on program.
I've even considered switching the bars in the afternoon for a shake because the shakes are much lower carb than the bars to see what effect that would have on my weight loss.
Good news. I was still in ketosis this morning, so my salmon salad yesterday for lunch and steak and crab for dinner didn't throw me off there. I didn't weigh this morning, though. Tomorrow is my regular weigh-in.

Congratulations abovethedin!!! That is so exciting! No one but us has any idea just what a big deal that is. I am doing a little dance for you. :carrot:
Today is my weigh in day and I have lost 8 lbs in 2 weeks. Not exactly fast but I love 10 in the 2 weeks before I started on my own so that may have something to do with it. I have lost 2 1/4 inches off of my waist in 2 weeks. That's all I measure.
I also bought pants from a real store! I found some cords on sale at J Jill and squeezed into a 16. They will not be comfy for a bit but they were $14 and soon all of my size 18 will be too big. I am wearing my daughters Gap and Old Navy cast offs so it will be nice to have some pants that I picked. I don't like my pant waist down so low!
I too will stop cooking and stop eating my one piece of laughing cow. The shakes are really my favorite anyway. I don't eat a bar everyday but I do need to increase my water and veggies. Some days I eat no green. :o
I am having a Superbowl party and they are going to order pizza. I can handle that. My bestfriend is coming and I have to hide what I eat from her, she likes me fatter than her. That's a thread of it's own...
Have a good day! Brooke:hug:

Good afternoon Ladies:
Haven't been able to log on in awhile. I just read over the posts and you girls ROCK!!! Everyone is doing great!
I have to admit I had a bit of temporary insanity the past two days. I ate like a pig (100% off plan). I am not going to beat myself up over it. I still managed to lose two pounds this week. I also had a NSV I was able to fit into a pair of bootleg cut jeans size 16 that I haven't been able to fit in for almost two years. I was hoping to get into them so that I could wear them to a baby shower this weekend and looks like I will be wearing them. That just made me realize I need to get my act together and I am totally commited to staying on plan. I can afford to mess up again and have the pants not fit on Saturday. I am also going to the gym atleast 4 days this week. I am hoping for 7 pounds by next Sunday. I may be setting myself up for failure but it won't hurt me to try to get there. If I don't that's ok to.
Hope everyone has a great MF week seems like I only get to log in on Sundays but I will try and check back in before then!

I recently discovered that if I mix up the Cream of Tomato soup in a blender before heating, the volume increases by nearly half and it really does become creamy. I've been adding some Italian spice to it, which improves the okay-but-a-bit-bland flavor. Last night I tried something different. I added some liquid smoke. If you have some in your pantry, it only takes 2-3 dashes to add a bit more zest (especially if you are like me and don't care for hot-spicy). :chef:
My favorite MF meals are the shakes too. I think that once I finish all the MF meals I have, I will just purchase shakes and the chocolate pudding. Those really are my favorites. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and has a great week ahead.

It's good to hear that it isn't as odd as I had feared. I hit -9 pounds today and did a little dance of joy followed by that "isn't that too fast" nervousness again. LOL Unfortunately, I'm a bit swollen today (hours after the weigh-in) with back issues so I'm unlikely to show any change tomorrow or maybe even the day after (or maybe even an increase). But that's okay, I've had more than my share of really good moments this week. It'll only be a speed bump and I'm in this for the long haul.
So thank you Jen for the good info and kind words. And to all the ladies, Thank You For The Inspiration And Great Information!

Andiesmom, I like your sig line. I don't think I am losing very fast so I added the weekly total like you did. Normally on WW or most other diets my goal was 10 lbs per month, so if I lose 15 on MF that would be great. I was hoping for 20 the first month but I was dieting before I started to that may slow me down. :(

Waving Hi to everyone - been panicking for some reason about transitioning off of the MF food into real food and then I thought - how silly...I still have such a long way to go and I will just continue to "enjoy" the MF food for now and worry about the other things at the appropriate times. Happy Monday everyone!:dust:
I am very proud, I made a table load of snacks for everyone for the Superbowl, (BTW, what a great game at the end!), and I ate only the healthy stuff. I even had a Chili dog like everyone else, however I used lettuce for my bun, a Turkey dog (only 70 cal), non fat cheese and non bean chili! It was great and I didn't feel at all deprived.:carrot:
Anyone know of a gentle way to talk to a loved one about trying the program? I watched a dear loved on yesterday shovel the food and wine in (just like I used to if the truth be told) but I don't want to shove the program in her face.
I know before I was ready to be taught I wouldn't have listened either.:^:
Let's have a great week! Keep up all of the great work!
Love this group!

Vbevens,
Congrats on the healthy eating! I did the same; I only ate MF meals yesterday. It felt wonderful to know even on the big days I will do fine. As for talking to someone about MF, my friend wouldn't stop talking about it and she was driving me nuts. She could carry on for hours about how well she felt, how the fog had lifted etc. Well ok, maybe it just felt like hours. Watching her lose the weight is what did it for me. I was amazed at how quickly she was slimming down right in front of me and her eyes became clearer and brighter. She also, let me try a few of her meals. I had a shake, pudding, and a chocolate bar. I didn't care for the after taste but other than that I had to admit they were pretty good, esp. the shakes. I guess what I am trying to say is I didn't want to hear anything my friend had to say after the first conversation because I wasn't ready to admit I was unhealthy. I am however very thankful now that she did talk to me about it, I feel like I've started on a new longer life. I hope this doesn't sound like a bunch of rambling. No matter what you obviously care about your friends health and hopefully that is what they will take from your conversation if you chose to talk about healthier eating.

Happy Monday Everyone!!
Wow, it's only been one week since I've started Medifast, and the same amount of time since I've logged on. I spent nearly an hour reading everything I've missed, this thead sure grows fast! But thats fantastic! I love how supportive you all are :)
I must say everyones doing really great, keep up the good work ladies!!
This has sure been a hard week for me trying to get used to how differnt MF has been to my eating schedule. Im a third shift RN and while I work I find myself sooo busy I forget to eat my whole shift. That ends up making me so hungry that I would just come home in the morning, stuff my face and go to sleep! At least MF keeps me on track with eating in terms of that! I make myself prepare shakes before work and I just grab one every few hours. I still feel hungry alot but Im hoping that will pass soon! With that said, Most nights this week I find I haven't even had time to make my L&G meal and I just eat an extra MF meal and a MF snack. Is this a bad thing that I do this more often then not?
Anyways....For the moment of truth, I weighed in today and I'm down 8 lbs!!! YEA!

After four months on MF, my fifteen year old blender finally died under the pressure. So I went out and bought a Magic Bullet from Costco for fifty bucks.
All of you -- listen to me, it is the greatest invention ever for Medifast. The shakes are blended perfectly every time and there are tons of canisters. It is a fabulous device and it is making it easier than ever for me to stick with the program.
My only regret is that I did not buy it four months ago.

Flo,
Thanks for the congrats! I am so thrilled. My 13 year old has been so encouraging. She said, "Now that you've lost 39 pounds, 54 pounds doesn't sounds like anything." I was trying to put it into perspective today and realized I have lost almost 2 Thanksgiving turkeys! My hubby said it is like the entire Thanksgiving dinner with all the sides. They absolutely crack me up!

Hi guys!!! SOrry I haven't been around. I haven't been feeling too well over the past few days. I'm feeling much better today.
I'm down another 3 pounds this week (my second week ends tomorrow). I really can't believe that this is working :). I think that my little adventure to a restaurant really put a damper on my loss for this week. I had the Steak and Portabello Weight Watchers meal at Applebees. I asked for an extra serving of broccoli instead of the potatoes and I had NO idea how many carbs broccoli has!!!!
I started exercising last Friday. I've been doing the Walk Away the Pounds video. I really like it although, I hate the music. I'm thinking of wearing my iPod while I do the tape! LOL

I wish that those exercise videos had really good music on them. That's always the worst part - the cheesy music. I've been eating out a lot for my Lean and Green - but I usually pick a grilled something salad and then use my own dressing or just dip the tines of my fork in their dressing. I didn't weigh this morning because I had a bad night last night and ate 4 slices of cheese after dinner. It was reduced fat and it didn't add any significant carbs, but it was like 200 calories. I missed a MF meal because of my little splurge.
I'm pretty proud of myself overall...People are starting to notice the weight loss. My clothes are starting to fit again...I should be starting my period soon...or not. ;)
I'm so proud of all of us!

It was just 9 pounds as of yesterday. Today *Day 5, it was 10 pounds. I'm gonna have to go back and check my posts. My apologies if I've had a typo that confused folks. Basically I began the diet last Wednesday, 1/30 and weighed 250. Today (Monday, 2/4) I'm at 240. Again, I'm sorry if I confused everyone. :o

BTW, I love your avatar. It looks like something out of a children's book from my childhood.
Love to hear that you're in this for the 'long haul'. Me, too!
The avatar is a picture of an antique (older than me :D ) flower container. It's the type that florists used to design flowers in back in the 40's and 50's for delivery. It's background is white, so I painted over the bits of the room and the flowers that were showing. That cute little container is one of my prize flea market finds.
These forums are so encouraging and friendly. I'm so glad I found this site.

Recently quite a few of my friends went back to college in order to teach and after hearing about all there stories It really gave me a new appreaciation for the profession. Hi ya'll
I ordered my M/F on Sunday, I hope it gets here by Friday. I am very eager to get started. I have a concert on the 26th and I would LOVE to be down a few....like 10lbs by then ;)
I was wondering, I have been on South Beach the last couple of weeks and doing well....I rarely eat carbs....really, just rather meat and cheese, avacados, stuff like that. I also walk everyday...do ya'll think that because I already restrict carbs my weight loss will be slower then usual or what?
Also...does m/f send out email with tracking #'s for orders...I wanna where my stuff and when it will be here.....control issues :)
Thanks everyone.

After much thought I have decided to go off plan until Sunday. My life has been crazy and this diet is not that easy for me. I have alot of things coming up this week and I can't get it together enough to do so many things at once.
I am NOT giving up, I will be back on Sunday!!!!! I am going to continue to diet during this time I just won't be doing Medifast. I hope to still have a loss to report on Sunday see you all then. Good Luck!!!

Ok girls, all of you are doing so well! I feel kind of bad that I have only lost 14 lbs in a month, but that is 14 lbs that I could never lose doing anything else:D
Do all of you log your meals on the Support in Motion? That really keeps me honest. If not do you use the Daily success tracker? This was something else that they said in my training that really helps.
Flo we are on for that exercise/water/plan challenge. But what is the prize? :dizzy:

Hi everyone!
Andiesmom, I like your sig line. I don't think I am losing very fast so I added the weekly total like you did.
Brooke Thanks! I'm sure I saw it somewhere and liked how it looked, too...so I borrowed it. Another thing I'm dong that has helped me so much is, I filled up a wine glass with pretty craft stones....1 for each pound I want to lose. Then I put in special ones to represent mini goals. Every week after I weigh in and log my official weight I get to move the stones to the other glass. It's so great to have a visual of my weight loss adding up! My loss glass is finally a little more full than the starting glass! It's funny, I'm quite ceremonial about moving my stones over!
Andrea - WOW - your weight is falling off!
Sweet P So is yours! 57 pounds is great!

Boy can I relate to this! I have these exact same thoughts! Let's not sabotage ourselves any more! I swear I have a mental block about the 50 pound mark...I have gotten so close only to stall or gain. I'm so close again. Help push me through this brick wall girls! I am not getting stuck again!
Vbevens Hey, I see you're in Portland. I'm in Salem so hiya neighbor! Are you training to be a health coach? How did you find out about the seminar? I have a friend her who lost 67 pounds on MF and is now a health coach (but she's pg. and very busy so I haven't talked to her too much about MF). I would love to go to a meeting with a bunch of MF's! How fun.
Sexy 8 pounds in a week is awesome! I laughed at your story about your car being sexy. I drive a suburban, which is not sexy and I haven't felt sexy in awhile...but that's changing. Maybe I'll get a cute little convertible when I lose all this weight. J/K...I've still got to many little ones running around for that to happen anytime soon...but a girl can dream. :)
Sticky Cool story about the flower vase. I love finds like that!
Becca Welcome! I think I tracked my order by logging onto the medifast site. I was so anxious to get my first order, too! You are about to embark on a life changing adventure! It has been for me, anyway. LOL I am so thankful to have found this program and this wonderful, supportive group of women!
tjjsmom I just want to encourage you to hang in there. This diet is definitely not easy for me at times, either! I have actually gone up to my room before I'm ready for bed just to get as far away from the kitchen as I could so I wouldn't blow it. Eating for me is about more than nutrition. Over the years it has been my comfort and now I have to figure some things out. I've never been on such a restrictive plan before but it is very simple (not always easy for me to follow). I am encouraged by the fact that the weight is coming off!
Flo Hey, lady! Can you believe we're going on month 2! :woohoo: Tell us more about this challenge. On the MF board I joined a challenge group and the Wed. challenge for that group is an 'all shake day' plus your L&G. It's supposed to trick your body a little because the shakes have the lowest carb value and calories, too. At first I didn't think there was any way I could do an all shake day but I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. It's amazing what I'm finding out I can do!
Hugs to everyone and have a great day!

Hi everyone! I just started MF yesterday. I used to post at 3FC several years ago but I can't recall my login haha, but it is great for ideas and motivation so when I decided to start trying again...well...I knew to come back.
I am 5'8" and 169ish right now which is the highest weight I've been. I got to 168 about 2 1/2 years ago and over about four months doing a loose South Beach-y type diet and daily exercise I was down to about 142. Then I went back to school and wooosh...didn't have time to exercise or to plan healthy meals (let alone shop for food) so it all came back. My goal is to get to mid-150s to start...I consider that my pretty normal "natural" weight...anything in the 140s I consider being on the lowside. I hope MF will give me a good quick start (motivation really) and then I can go back to a loose South Beach approach to eating.
I always browse 3FC and after their review I decided to give MF a go. It seems like a stricter South Beach--same general concept--but it really takes all the thinking out. I ordered the 4wks plus 1wk free.
Anyway, I've tried a couple things and so far the only thing I haven't liked is the Cream of Tomato Soup. Dutch choco shake, mint choco bar, carmel nut bar, chicken and wild rice soup, maple and brown sugar oatmeal have all been pretty good or atleast eatable. I really struggled to get the cream of tomato down though. It tasted of pure protein powder.
And that's my spiel!!!

Hi everyone!
I survived fat tuesday at work. It was not that bad but you can imagine the junk that 100 people brought in, plus pizza and a whole sheet cake. I actually found myself feeding my neighbors, getting stuff for them. My friend is going to gain weight because of me! But, it made me feel better. :dizzy:
For those of you who are not losing weight fast (like me) measure your waist. It does help to inspire when the scale isn't moving.
I portioned chicken and lean steak strips into baggies so I know what I am eating. I also washed lettuce and put it in a big baggie so I can grab it and take it to work.
People at work were talking about what they are giving up for Lent, I don't do that but I was thinking that I have given up sugar, wheat, rice, carrots, oatmeal, pizza, chocolate etc! Think of what we are doing without and not missing (most of the time :p)

I live in Jackson, TN, which is where Union University's dorms were destructed. Actually, I live about a mile from there...My husband is on another business trip so my daughter and I got in a bathtub and covered up with couch cushions. She's three today (what a birthday for her) and they canceled school. My uncle has cerebral palsy and lives in a group home across the road from where the same tornado hit. We haven't been able to get in touch with him, but the power is out in a lot of places. My mother is on her way here (she lives about forty miles away). She spent a lot of the night in her basement. I was scared...really scared.
On the MF side, I'm doing fine. I got my second month order yesterday and of course the free week had a lot of stuff I had ordered already. I don't know about the Cream of Tomato soup, but from everything I've heard, if you add spices to it, it's a lot more palatable.
My sister-in-law and mother-in-law asked me to go eat breakfast with them, but I demurred. I still have the baby's birthday party this weekend to get through. I don't need to screw up now.
Y'all have a great day...:)

Welcome destin! Good luck tomorrow if you are starting right away. Measure yourself! I wish I had everywhere, only did my waist.
What is an all shake day? 5 shakes and lean and green? The shakes are my favorite.
For dinner I had the other half of my lean and the eggs. I mixed the chicken in with the eggs, really good and filling.
I normally only get 4 MF meals in each day but I eat a laughing cow cheese. Does anyone else not get all 5 in? I wonder if that is slowing my weight loss.
Great, my best friend who doesn't like that I am losing is coming over with apple pizza what ever that is. No way I can hide that I am not eating it. If she gets huffy, I'll drag out my MF and show her what I am doing and ask her to join me.

Brooke,
I don't always get in all of my MF meals in either, usually 4 or sometimes if I am not having a lean and green I get in 5. I haven't noticed my weight slowing because of it.
I like the idea of an all shake day too. The next month I need to purchase MF I am planning on just purchasing shakes and chocolate pudding. I just love the shakes..they taste sooo good!

Good idea Jen. Which shake is your favorite? I like Dutch Choc
I was reading a blog and the poor girl sleepwalks and eats at night. She lives with a roommate so can't keep junk out of the house. How depressing would that be? MF during the day and then waking to see empty chip bags and not remembering what you ate.

Brooke,
My favorite is the Dutch chocolate also. I could drink those all day long and the chocolate pudding is so good!
As for the eating and sleep walking, I saw a program about that. It is very interesting. A friend of mine does this same thing. She tells me she refuses to keep any type of junk food in the house because she can wake up in the morning to a completely empty container of whip cream or 3 candy bar wrappers in the trash. The whole thing makes her very nervous. I sent her some bars so she could try them thinking I would end up sending her a few boxes. She told me she liked them so much that she doesn't want anymore. She is afraid she would eat them all in the middle of the night. :)

Hello ladies!!!!
Sorry I haven't been around much. I just haven't been inspired. My losses for this week and last week are not very exciting. I will say that when I look at my BMI falling, I do get excited though!!! I've been dealing with some serious constipation. I really don't know what to do. I'm adding extra fiber, drinking plenty of water and sooo incredibly uncomfortable that I don't even want to go to work. Sunday night I broke down and took a laxative only to wake up the next day with the reverse problem. I'm still on plan.
I've been doing great getting in all my meals. One of my coworkers that I really like noticed that I look like I've lost weight. She asked what I was doing and I pulled her aside and confided. She is not a huggy kind of person, but she grabbed me and hugged me and told me how proud she was of me!!! We spent the lunch period talking about me and how I'm not having cravings, etc. I don't think she'll start MF in that she really doesn't have that much to lose. It is nice to know that I can talk to her though.
Yesterday I had to attend a play with my class. It was off campus and totally interfered with my mid morning meal. I took a bar and thought about sneaking it during the play. One of my students said he needed to go to the restroom and since all students have to be escorted, I wolfed down my bar while he was in the bathroom. THANK GOODNESS for those bars. I really wish MF would put out more "portable" foods.
I'm so proud of you ladies with all your losses, you are all doing great!!!!

I decided to start right away. But so far I've been able to eat 1 1/2 meals. The blueberry oatmeal was actually super good! Though, I did have to add just a dab of cinnamon.
But here is the bad part::: I made the dutch chocolate shake as directed with crushed ice. It had a terrible gritty taste to it and I actually had to chase it down with a bottle of water. The worst part was about 15 mins after finishing it, it totally didnt agree with my tummy and I actually got sick. Did anyone else have this issue??????:?:
brookelizabeth
02-06-2008, 10:46 PM
Destination, good for you! Do you have pudding? you can take the chocolate pudding and mix it with water and ice for a smoother shake. I am so used to slim fast that the step to MF was easy. I suppose it is gritty but I really didn't notice it. Do you think the water made you sick?? You drank a lot at once with the shake. I hope you feel better. :p
Samara, I have the same issue. :( I noticed it was worse when I didn't drink any water for a few days. I take a flaxseed oil capsule at night and I ordered Pearls. They are the same thing that is in the Activia yogurt. I do think the flaxseed capsule works. It's for omega 3 etc If I take fiber pills I get worse so I have to be very careful. I also took Correctol one night and that helped but had no side effects. I ordered the Pearls from Amazon, they are so cute, tiny little things. They are in some walmarts but not mine.

Hi ladies!
Welcome to those who have recently joined us!
I am just finishing the last shake of my shake day!
5 shakes and 1 L&G. My old standby, baked chicken mixed with stewed mexican tomatoes and topped with 0.5 oz. soy cheddar cheese and shredded lettuce. Yummy!
My suggestion for the shakes is to blend them really good in your blender and then stick it in the freezer for about an hour and a half. Then chop it all up with your spoon. So good! A frozen treat. :)
I thougth MF was restrictive but after having only shakes for a day I am really looking forward to having oatmeal and soup again. Yippee!
I think I will try to make Wednesdays my shake day from now on!

That will be really good in the summer! Kind of like a MFugdgicle :D
I am finally down another pound and that puts me at 50 lbs since last April 22!
20 since Jan. 2, almost 10 since I started MF on Jan. 21.
I think that you could lose on other diets but this diet keeps you honest and that really helps. I faked that I ate the apple pizza last night because on this diet, I can't just have a taste.
Where are you Flo?? :?:
It's almost Friday!! :p

I am going to make Friday my shake day. I keep going for microwave popcorn and I KNOW that it takes me out of ketosis but I obsess about it. So all of it is going to my office and out of my house. (However I did notice that it has the same amount of carbs as the MF Peanut butter bar, go figure!)
The constipation thing is quite a problem. I need to try the Pearls, I have been using a laxative but that doesn't seem to really do that much. I guess it's too mild, but I don't want my body to become dependent on them.
Anyone ever go to the Mymedifast.com boards? I am starting to go over there and would love to start a buddy/team. Come and join me.:goodvibes

Sorry I have been gone for a while... well not actually gone... but...
I do not know if you all remembered how i brought up the subject about being late with my TOM... I thought it was the diet... but.... well... let's just say it was not and I am now officially :preg:... which means no more medifast for me... at least for the next 35 weeks... lol
Well even though i cannot follow this plan anymore, I still plan on eating healthy and maybe losing some weight the healthy way while being pregnant. I started the 3H diet yesterday and so far so good. It was the diet i was planing on following once i got closer to my goal... so I guess i am just gonna start earlier than planned...
Even though i won't be a medifaster anymore, i was hoping i could still be part of the gang... And we could still support each other through that journey. I sure can use the help and the support... :grouphug:I do not want to blow back up to 250... like last time! So I was hoping i could finish my pregnancy under 200... You think it is possible?

Oh Flo-how exciting!
Do you have family and support where you are? You MUST stay with us and keep us motivated. Even if your not on the program your family!
What about the BF? Still around? Doing this on your own? Too many personal questions? I worry! I will be your American grandma if you need one!:D:
You can absolutely do this under 200 ! Exercise, low carbs and you should be OK.
Don't be scared, we will help!!

I want to chime in that it is totally possible to only gain the recommended 25. I did it with both of my kids. I watched what I ate and didn't load up on extra carbs or sugar. :)
Good luck Flo!!!!

Oh, Flo...I thought maybe I was, too - but I took a test and not this month. Congratulations to you!!
I think if you eat healthy you'll be fine. I like the 5 factor diet, too. I sat at the bookstore once and read it.
We don't go back to school until Monday. The President is visiting today...I suppose I won't be able to go to Walgreens' or Kroger because my stores are over by Union University and that's probably where he'll be visiting. We had students who lost their homes and places where there is still no power...
I lost another 1.2 pounds and I did my Fluidity workout this morning. I think I'm going to alternate my Fluidity and 30 minutes on my elliptical. I'm just now ready to work out...
Great job, everyone!

Well Hi it's me again,
catching up on all the postings.
Welcome Sexy83ta, I was starting to feel a little left out with all the teachers and day shifters here, I put out a post that I was on the night shift and nobody answered.! So I am happy that there is a fellow night shifter here with me and the unique problems that go on with that.
I have a very responsible and demanding job, just like you and sometimes I can fix my MF meals and consume them and sometimes I can't. Then I come home in the morning starvin marvin...
Would love to converse more with someone who understands.
I am really interested to hear what you do on your schedule for your days off work.
I had a boyfriend long ago that had the black trans am with the gold bird on it. wow memories.....

Oh Fab, trust me I know how differnt basicly everything in our lives can be. It seems like it would be easy to follow our lifes and diet working third shift but everything as you know gets completly mixed up. Course the day I wrote about making shakes or another meals before work I messed up in that department. I always come home starving and I have to force myself to stay OP and not binge.
What do you do as a career btw? And also, those old 2nd gen trans am (Smokey and the bandit style!) is what made me fall in love with cars in the first place! Im envious :) Anyways, yes if you would like to talk shoot me a message anytime :cofdate:
FLO: Congratulations! Please do stick around, we need you here on this thread even and we'll help you in any way that we can (Just like you help us everyday!)
I hope everyone did good this week! Stay stong over the weekend!

Flo, I was thinking that if you hurry you can return MF food. Why keep it for a year??
Has anyone returned to MF for exchange? I know you can, you have to call but I am not sure how it works. I want to xchange cr of broc soup, vanilla pudding and shakes, lemon bars and chai.
Any hints on making the chic noodle or chic rice soup? I am super excited to try them. I am sick of all sweet food! :p

Thanks everyone!
Today is day 3 of my new pregnancy diet and i have lost 0.6 pounds so far... definitely not as much as with Medifast... LOL but it is better for the baby!
Brooke: i do not think i can return the food because i go to a center... I will have to call them and ask...
Verna: i will send you an email tonite ;)
Congrats on all your losses! I guess i am gonna be the cheering person for ya'll! My goal is to lose another 15 pounds or so and try to not go back above 199 once i am full term.... It is gonna be hard but i hope that with daily exercise (walk) and sticking to that diet it is feasible! I was kind of thinking maybe i could just do a month of Medifast to lose that weight... I do not know if it would have an impact on the baby though...

Flo, I did some digging and I don't think you should do MF while pregnant. You can google it. Here is a link to some info I found but I don't know how accurate it is etc. I did lose while pregnant because I was so nauseated, that was not fun. I would check with your MD
Check out my new avatar!!!! I've dropped 15 pounds since I started MF about 2.5 weeks ago!!!!! I seriously can't believe it!!!! Yesterday for the first time since my daughter was born (I actually dropped a size after her delivery) I squeezed my big ol' butt into a size 22 jean!!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!! All day I felt like I was on top of the world. My silent mantra was "Ya you know I look good in my smaller jeans." LOL I can't believe I just shared that with you!!!!
Last July I went to a scrapbook convention all the way in Michigan. I bought these really adorable lounge pants. Well they never really fit and they looked down right horrible on me. I put them on last night and OMG, they FIT and they look adorable!!!!
Today presents a challenge. I have baseball with my daughter then we have a birthday party to attend. My "plan" is to bring a shake to the baseball game, come home and eat a soup, head over to the party while drinking another shake, and have a bar in my purse in case the party runs over the scheduled time. The place where we are going doesn't have ANYTHING healthy. It's just nasty pizza, churros, and candy bars.
Wish me luck chickies!!!

congratulations Samara!! Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Just wear your new smaller jeans and think of them every time you are tempted. You may find that you are not tempted! It's just not worth it is it!?
How do you make the soups? Do you soak them before you cook them or after?
magnolia blossom
02-09-2008, 07:06 PM
Brooke: I usually just cook the fire out of them. I start at 1:30, then keep doing another 30-45 seconds until it looks thick. I really like the chicken noodle, which is a good thing because I ordered a box *and* got a box for my free week.
BTW, did I make someone angry or say something I shouldn't have?

Kim: why would you think you said something wrong? How do u like your new workout? I do not think i could get my big butt to do that...
Brooke:Thanks for the info! I kind of thought it would not be good either...
SO i am back to eating real food and following the 3H diet , which is more or less 3 meals at 400 cal and 2 100 cal snacks and maybe a 50 cal treat. You eat every 3 H and basically your plate is filled with 1/2 of veggies and 1/4 of carb and 1/4 protein. It is pretty easy... BUT having to deal with real food bring back some demons that were gone while on medifast... and the whole preparation sucks...
Samara: You go girl! I knew you could do it! I am so Proud of your accomplishment! 15 pounds in less than 3 weeks that is AMAZING!!! I am so glad you got to squeeze back into your jeans!!! Feeling on top of the world? WELL U should!!!

I did it!!! They had the most YUMMY cupcakes and I wanted one soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo badly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I resisted and drank my water. I kept saying to my hubby, I could have one and it would just stall me for a couple of days. He looked at me and said, "NO WAY!!!!!"
The party went WAY longer than expected and I needed to run over to Trader Joe's while I was in that part of town. I didn't get back into the car till 6:30 and knew there was NO way I'd have time to cook as I was already starving.
My daughter (she's 5) and I stopped at El Pollo Loco. While we were waiting in line I was reading the nutritional facts for their foods and I hit the JACKPOT. They have made a plate specifically for Lindora patients!! It's a skinless chicken breast, a side salad, and a bowl of steamed veggies (brocolli, califlower, and carrots). I of course gave the carrots to my daughter. Ready for the breakdown??
Magnolia, no you have not. Can't think of what you might mean. I love that this site is not like that. Thanks for the hints. I hope all of the displaced kids, families will be taken care of. Hopefully, we learned something from the Katrina nightmare.
Flo, don't go into detail because some people can't handle graphic descriptions of food, they call it food porn ! . BUT, what's it like to eat all food groups again? I bet I think I miss it more than I would. Does that make sense?? I do miss fruit. You should eat some for us, it's healthy! :D
I tried to post from my husbands Iphone while at a college basketball game. What I wanted to tell you is that my butt FIT in the seats! We went to a Rod Stewart concert in the same place a year ago and it was hard to jam my butt in the plastic stadium seats because they had soda holders.
I was so excited! I also didn't need to worry about taking up my neighbors space, I stayed in my own!!

YEA!
I was so glad to see this! I'm in nursing school now and working as an aide while in there and I've been concerned about fitting the time frame in, especially on clinical days.

You guys are awesome! :dancer:
Samara it sounds like your doing so well! It is amazing isn't it when we know that if we eat off of program our ketosis goes out of whack and it takes three days to get back to our fat burning efficiency, it makes it much easier to turn down treats.
My weakness still is pop corn! It slows everything down but some evenings I can't seem to help myself.
For those of you looking for Pearls-if your in the NW Fred Meyer's has them in the Organic/Health foods section. Also crystal light now has a "digestive aid" on the go drink. I think they read these boards.

Good afternoon ladies:
Ok so I am back and officially back on plan. I had a minor setback but I am ready to get back in the grove of things. I went to Costco and got a nice salad for my L&G meal. I wish Costco was closer to my house because while I do enjoy salad I could eat one of their salads everyday and be very satisfied.
So far so good I just need to get going with the water. I need to get another 48 ounces in and I would like to do that before 7pm because I don't want to be on the toilet all night if you know what I mean...lol.
Glad to here that everyone else is doing well.

Hi everybody!
Flo:Congratulations!
I just wanted to share with everyone that I got my 50 pound medallion at WW this morning. I was SO happy. I actually cried. It was like I reached the top of a mountain. I can't imagine how wonderful it will feel when I reach my goal!
I have been working on hitting the 50 pound mark for a year! I bounced up and down playing with the same stupid 5 pounds until I gave up at Thanksgiving and gained about 20 pounds back. When I ordered MF I was 20 pounds away from that seemingly unobtainable 50 pound mark! But here I am....down 20 pounds in 5 weeks! Amazing. I know I sound like a MF commercial but I LOVE this program! It's working when I thought nothing would. I would like to encourage anyone considering giving MF a try to go for it!
There are so many encouraging women on this board! Thank you guys! Hope everyone has a great week!

Andiemom, that is wonderful!
I tried WW so many times and never had any success, and your right we do sound like commericals, but this plan is the best!
When you say you went off and gained 20 pounds that makes me very nervous. I am going on a cruise at the end of this month and I am so afraid that I will gain everything back!

Well, when I went off program I basically gave up. I felt something in my spirit just say "to heck with this" and I almost made a conscious effort to choose the wrong foods...the worst foods. It was the holidays after all. :chef:
I believe that a lot of times it's about our mind set. I really had to dig down and ask myself what I wanted and then figure out how I was going to get it. I got off track and had to pull out the road map to find my way again. I don't plan to take that detour again, but I suppose it's kind of like other addictions. I have food issues. :o I'm working on them, though. That's why WW is important for me. That program gives me some tools to help with those issues. This program, MF makes it easy for me to stick to it and I am seeing amazing results. :carrot:

I just wanted to share that I reached my initial goal of 50 pounds a couple days ago, and I will be under 200 any moment now, at which point I will finally be willing to take some measurements. To celebrate my success, I spent the weekend photographing my clothes and listing them on eBay. I've never had so much fun cleaning out a closet.
I still have another 50 or so to go, and I hope to reach my final goal by Father's Day, which is when we have a celebration planned for our son's homecoming from Iraq. In July I will be attending an annual convention where I look forward to surprising dozens of colleagues. I know I can do it, and that's very exciting.

We have had some recent goals to celebrate, congrats to you all! Reaching onederland must be amazing!!
I lose from the top down too and I think I am one of those people who will not lose fast. My weeks have been 5.8, 2.6 and 3.0 which is a bit discouraging but I'll keep going forward. Eventually, I'll get to the 100's too!
I wonder if my weight loss is slower because I don't usually have the 5th MF meal and I don't drink all of the water????
WW would be good because you could get your own scale out of the house and then just weigh in there. The scale is a demon every day. Weight goes up and down and sometimes makes no sense.

Since 10/4/07, so slightly over 4 months—which have included the holidays and a big going away party for our son's deployment. I think I would have reached 50 sooner had it not been for the distractions, but I knew they were coming when I began, so I'm okay with where I am at this point.

No :o
But since the nutrition info. is listed on the MF products I have figured up the points value on some things (although I'm not really counting points right now.) I told them I'm doing core cuz I think MF is more like core. I don't think they really care what you eat as long as you're following the flex program or the core program. When I was there yesterday some girl was talking about how she ate cherry pie and icecream, so I figure it's OK if I eat MF. ;)

Hi Sneeks,
I walk on my treadmill and now that the weather is getting nicer I have been walking outside. Sometimes I'll do a workout video. MF discourages exercise in the first couple of weeks (unless you've been doing it already) and then they have you gradually start adding activity.
I was afraid to try this program too, but am SO glad I did. You could always decide to just commit to 2 weeks or a month and see how it goes. That's what I did...I thought, "I can do this for a month". On Thursday it will be 6 weeks since I started and I have lost 20 pounds! :carrot:

I intentionally fell off the wagon Sunday for my daughter's birthday, but I got up Monday morning and started MFing again. My husband is really on me to go back to Weight Watchers so we can all eat the same thing for dinner (read - cook for him). I will...eventually...
I bought a Fluidity barre. I did the beginner workout and ached for two days, so it must do something. I liked it, too, even though my 3-year old kept asking where hers was. I tried to get her to do it on the coffee table, but no...she wanted mine. I weighed this morning but between Sunday and starting my period in a day or two, I was up 2.6 pounds. I figure that'll be gone tomorrow or Thursday...
Y'all have a great evening. :)

Kim, I have not altered anything and I am up a pound over sunday. it's frustrating but let's try not to be down. I admit that i was pretty discouraged this am but I just have to keep at it. Sometimes I don't think I will ever get to onderland!! I am sooo impatient! It is silly to live and die by the scale but I still get on it daily. I have for almost a year.
Biggest Loser is on tonight!

Thank you, Brooke  I'm the world's worst about scale stepping. I actually stepped on the stupid scale after I ate dinner tonight...but it looks pretty good for tomorrow. I try not to get too upset about the daily fluctuations and just look for the downward trend...but it's hard. I keep expecting it to be like it was when I was younger. I could step on the scale and see a change almost daily. Having a baby certainly changed my body! ;0
Zeute, I waited several days to get started. I have found, though, it's actually easier on days when I'm at school because I'm more regimented about my times to eat/drink. You're going to do great! :)
Zeute
02-12-2008, 08:37 PM
:) Thanks for the boost Kim!
It's no so much the regimenting I'm concerned with (although it is a concern for the timing) but my reaction.
If it makes me feel ill or gives me headaches or anything at first I'd rather be at home, not almost 60 miles away and have to then face the drive. :dizzy: It's hard enough as it is.
brookelizabeth
02-12-2008, 08:51 PM
I didn't have any bad symtoms and I get headaches normally. I did have my am coffee as usual and diet coke, drank some but not even half of the water. I didn't want to reduce caffeine and risk a headache. I was not hungry but I did find after a week that I was not eating enough of the lean because I didn't have a scale. I found one at walmart for under $10. Measure yourself before you start! I didn't do it except for my waist and when I haven't lost weight, I do see a loss in inches. I wish I had measured all over but I was too lazy!
Remember, in the first days if you are having a hard time, have an extra shake, that's fine. And if you have any questions about how to mix something, we'll be here!
PS I just ate onions chopped in pam spray. Yuck! I never eat onions normally but my daughter was making them and they smelled good. My tummy hurts.
I am watching Biggest Loser now and trainer Bob said that the best lunch is a sandwich... it crossed my mind to go back to dieting that way but you know, when I do I take too many this and thats... a bit of this, a bit of that. It doesn't work as well as MF because of the strict structure MF provides.

Thanks Brooke!
If I cut out caffeine I get migraines, so I know where you are coming from!
I've picked up so many wonderful tips from here. :D I'm going to try and get a generic "Magic Bullet" type blender so I can take it to school with me and I think we have a scale but maybe I'll pick up one of those too.
One of my "organizing" things I plan to do tomorrow is take the measurements and weight. Granted they won't be "starting day" but it's something I can do to make me feel like I am starting.
*********** has a section where you can enter all the measurements you choose and will graph them for you. I think I will do neck, upper arms, waist, thighs and calves. It will be very gratifying to see the lines go down!
PS Onions are nasty!
I want the structure; like you I'll "this and that" or I'll "occassional treat" too much. Plus the convenience of meals that can be eaten on the go, like when driving, or sitting in class for that matter can't be beat!
I love the support that's available here, even to strangers!

Hi all,
Has anyone tried the new products from MF? I went to a friends house yesterday and she gave me a bottle of water with an infuser (one of the new metabolism booster products) and it was fantastic. It was so much better than crystal light. I have such a hard time drinking CL. Also, she made a a "shake" made out of the chocolate pudding and it was like eating ice cream! Anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

Did you see my note about the Hamilton Beach mini blender? It's $14 at walmart. I don't like walmart, I like target but i seem to be finding stuff at walmart! I also have been mixing shakes at my desk just with ice and cold water, it's fine. I did get a zyliss shaker container at bed, bath and beyond that works well but any container with a lid will work.

I bought a Bella Cucina rocket blender for about half the price of a Magic Bullet. I think with shipping and everything it was like $31. I actually don't use it much because I do the shakes at school during the day, but it's there if I want it.

Zeute-
I did have horrible headaches for the first three days. Then I woke up on the fourth day and felt WONDERFUL!!!! I also cut out caffeine at the same time. The first day, my head didn't hurt until later in the evening. You might consider starting on Friday, that way you'll have the weekend if day 2&3 are hard on you.

Brooke - I do remember seeing something about the Hamilton blender. It must have been your note. I looked them up online and they seem to havegood reviews if not some leaking issues. Is that also the one that doesn't seem to have enough room?
Kim - There seemed to be quite a few complaints about the Bella one but that's the style I'm goin for. I can just stick it in my backpack.
Hope - I did consider that; it's a clinical day so timing could be tough. Although I did tell myself that starting on one of my toughest timing days prepares me for doing it when it's easier.

Hope, you gave up caffeine at the same time? Brave soul! That alone gives monster headaches. :faint:
The HB has not leaked and I have room. I would say a shake with some ice and 8 oz of water still leaves 3 inches at the top. I don't put a lot of ice in because it gets watery. The Zylizz is nice but the MF shake smell won't leave the plastic. :stress:
Did anyone see the morning new show with the diet coke?? They say it messes with metabolism. I need my diet coke!!! So, if we switch to water with splenda or crystal light etc how is that any different that diet coke?? I am trying to drink water with True Orange and True Lemon today. I don't like it but it's better than plain water and has no artifical sweet. in it. I already had my coffee with THREE splenda packets though.
Be good tomorrow everyone! :val1: Remember to tell your sweeties no sweeties! If you don't have a sweetie, be your own sweetie and be good to yourself!

Hey everybody. I miss Flo! I hope she is doing OK.
I LOVE my magic bullet. I asked for it for Christmas and it was the perfect gift.
I also use an immersion blender at work. I just brought it in today, and it is so much better than shaking in the jar. I made a diet root beer with the Vanilla shake-Fantabulous!:carrot:
Are we going to designate someone to start up the weekly thread? On Sundays? I will if no one else wants to.
Have a good Valentine's day everyone! Have a chocolate mint bar and a nice bubble bath! Treats!

My order came today. I've entered my current weight and measurements. I was so excited I almost wanted to start today but it was already after noon so I had already eaten off plan. Our kitchen is all emptied out awaiting a new stove delivery; I don't know if that's going to make this harder or easier! lol
It's kind of funny but I also got a swimsuit catalogue from Victoria's Secret today. Talk about motivation!

Vbevens, my husband and 3 of his friends and my brother ride all spring, summer and fall. Right now my DH rides in the house on his roller thing. They go 15-20 miles before work and on the weekends 70 miles and love to do charity rides. They did one with Lance last summer, it was great. He'd love me to join but I live in fear that he is going to buy me spandex shorts! I need to lose more first, I know that doesn't make sense, it would help me lose. Anyway, it's still snowing here!
Good luck Zeute!

The big mean ole FCAT writing test was yesterday. My kids kicked azz, I'm sure. But good GOSH almighty - I'm a tired girl. No more essays till September! :carrot:
And yeah, I fell WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY off the wagon and gained 6 pounds back. So I went back on today and I'm starving to death. Stupid Michelle.
Flo - you're preggers??? I didn't read the entire thread, so forgive the questions.... Are you back with your BF or are you heading out by yourself?? Either way -- WOO HOOOOO! Congrats my honey!! That's even better than no essays!!
Congrats on the great losses! SweetP - your siggie is down, how much have you lost??

Welcome back Michelle, we did miss you!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!! May your day be chocolate free. Although the idea of a choc mint bar in the microwave for 5 seconds will be nice! I don't let myself have bars everyday.
I am home to let the puppy out at lunchtime and I just want to say HELP! Everyone at work is talking about heart shaped pizza and I work by an Italian restaurant and can smell it. I came home and had lean turkey wrapped in lettuce leaves instead of a shake. I won't do it but some days are tough! Also, they are selling candy at work! Grrrrrr......
We are also having a snowstorm which I love. Have a good afternoon!

Some things I take with as they say a grain of salt what ever that really means! If I have more splenda and don't eat anything off plan, that is still a good day to me! If it means drinking water vs not drinking water, I'll use more crystal light than they say I should. I am a diet coke addict and I am trying to cut that down to 2 per day.
Happy Friday!!!

According to the Quick Start Guide, we are only supposed to have UP TO 3 condiments a DAY! Yikes!! That is only 3 Splendas (count Crystal Light in that) & that would mean no spices, Molly McButter, SF syrups, etc. Pretty tough to do. The up to 3 condiments/day is for optimal weight loss & I think they recommend that to make it easy to stay within their guidelines for weight loss.
I like the higher carb veggies (like broccoli & green beans) so I would have to be careful about my condiments. I logged everything in (Splenda, SF syrup, spices, Molly McButter, etc.) & it really is interesting to see how these little items add up in a day. Might be worth trying to see how your typical day's menu adds up & then you know if your typical diet is below their cal/carb guidelines or if it is higher, it could be bringing you slightly out of ketosis which would slow or stall your weight loss. I did that quite a while back & stopped being so liberal with all my condiments. I still used over 3/day though. :)

I managed to get through my conference day. Lunch was interesting. We went to the soup plantation and can I tell you...........they have almost NO protein in that blasted salad bar!!! I did purchase a measly 2 oz of chicken breast for $1.50 more. I added some egg to the top of my salad as well. The meeting room was FREEZING COLD. I had a chill all the way to the bone. I got home and took my temp., I was at 99, an hour later I was at 102. All night I went between freezing and burning and serious aches and pains. At one point last night, I wanted to write a letter to my family telling them I loved them. Needless to say, I'm home today. I'm feeling a little better, my fever is down, the aches are minimal, but now I'm practically coughing up a lung. Yesterday I couldn't even get in all my meals, I just didn't have the strength. Wish me well thoughts please, I need 'em.

Hey brookelizabeth! I have ridden with Lance three times now! Hey I squeeze my a$$ into those shorts and pedal my a$$ all over Oregon! The first ride I did 40 miles but by about mile 35 I was walking my bike. Some guys rode by and asked if anything was wrong with my bike and I yelled back "Just out of gas!"
Back then I was even smoking! Last year I got to meet Chris Carmichael who was Lance's coach. He is great and his book is really good. If you husband doesn't have it you should get if for him.
Anyway-I am down another pound and feeling good!

Vbevens and Brooke: My husband biked the Keys last year. He used to road *and* mountain bike, but he's not done much of either since we had our daughter 3 years ago. This year he's biking the Outer Banks. I just hope he doesn't leave at the tail end of school like he did last year. It's a really rough time for me. He has five bikes! :)

Well, I blew it today! At about 2pm or so, I got this huge craving for bread, so I cooked some Grands rolls and ate TWO! Then I ate some Hersheys kisses. It all hit my stomach like a rock. I am really going to have to remember this feeling the next time i want something. It definitely was not worth it. Oh, and within about 20 minutes of eating the rolls I got extremely tired. It must have been the bread....hmmm.....

Hey there ladies,
I've had this website in my favorites for years but have never joined one or posted on one before now. I've read over the board and found y'all on the Medifast program. ( it's not a diet, says Dr. A.;))
I'm starting again on Monday. I did a short try at it this past Summer but I didn't have much success with it although I was completely compliant for three weeks. I am a very slow loser and each time I try to lose, it has gotten even harder to move those numbers. I really enjoyed this program but when it came to time to reorder, I got so confused and just dropped it since I had only lost 4 lbs. over a three week period. I got very disappointed and ended up just giving up...until now! So, here I go again with Medifast and decided I would try to join a group for and to give support.
Btw...I've never tried to join a website or posted anything before so there is just not much telling what is going to show up on my info over there<<<:?:

Welcome,Tapestry! I like this forum. Everyone is nice. I have lost faster on this program than I did on Weight Watchers. I used to lose really quickly - then I had a baby.
Jen, honey. Don't beat yourself up. Just get up and get back on program. I went off totally Sunday because of my daughter's birthday. That's just an excuse, though. I had been feeling terribly deprived and resentful. For me, that's one of the biggest problems. I just got up, though, Monday morning and started again. By Wednesday I was back in ketosis and I've actually lost another 2.4 pounds since then. When I weighed Tuesday morning I was up 2.6 pounds. I lost that and am down *another* 2.4. You'll be fine, sweetie.

Kim,
Thanks for such an encouraging post. I told my daughter yesterday I need to remember how I feel after I eat bread. She agreed. I told her the problem isn't really whether or not I remember, it is whether or not I actually care at that moment. I think after the stomach ache I had last night, I will care. I never had a problem eating bread before but I think now that I haven't in such a long time that maybe my system is getting used to eating healthier...? Oh and the chocolate I ate didn't taste the same, which I find very strange, 'cause I am a huge chocolate person. It was very sweet though, not like I remember. Ultimately, I think that is a good thing.

Do any chocolate lovers like the banana shake? I need to order some things and thought I'd try them. My daughter is going to sign up so we can stop my autoship and she can start. That way we get free ship and 2 more free weeks. MF said as long as you use a different email address, it's fine if the street address is the same.
I hope you feel better Samara!! Try to get your drinks in if you can.
Welcome Tapestry! I don't lose fast either and sometimes I wonder if it's because I don't always get all 5 MF meals in or drink my water. Did you know that you can exchange things you dont like if you only try one out of the box? I sent back 8 boxes last week.
Jennifer, no big deal! we are all going to do that at one point. It is hard and feeling resentful is sometimes only natural. Thanks for the report on the bread and chocolate. It's good to know that it's not worth it. I survived my company holiday party last night. Dessert bar and all...
Thanks for the info Suesully.
Magnolia, 5 bikes??!! My brother is building one, takes forever. Rick only has 2 bikes right now. He keeps upgrading. Your DH goes on some nice rides, I'll mention the idea to Rick. Or maybe I shouldn't! So far he's content to ride in Wisconsin.

kim, i understand. Last summer we went on a few rides, 3 miles to dairy queen and back. I am not a long distance girl so far. If I lose more weight, who knows. I make rick ride in front of me and sometimes I grab him and have him pull me. I told him we should get a racing tandem so I can sit in back and read while we bike!

Hey everybody! Welcome to Tapestry (I think that was your name?)
4 pounds in three weeks can be dissappointing, however that is twice as much as I ever lost on Weight Watchers. I have also done; Jenny Craig (lost zero), Nutrisystems (lost 12 pounds in three months), WW (most I ever lost was 6 pounds) LA Weightloss (zero), and the old Weight Loss clinic (lost 10 pounds over 3 months).:tantrum:
I have been on Medifast 6 weeks and have almost lost 20 pounds! I have never found anything that works better for me.
All of you biking widows, get out the spandex and helmuts, come on! It's really very fun and I can do it without killing my joints. The old butt get's a little sore, but multiple bike pads work well.:bike2:
I am at my house on the Oregon Coast this weekend and it is actually a little bit sunny!:sunny:
Time to get out and wash windows, pull weeds, and enjoy the seashore air!
Have a great day everyone!

I think we should start a new thread, first one up and posting can do it. I hope to sleep in!
Vbevans, are you working out? Do you drink all of the water and get all of the meals in? Just trying to see what I might be doing wrong if anything.
Enjoy the sea air! I can imagine it... can't wait for the sun to come and bring some warmth. It's been a snowy cold winter and my daughter is getting married next January. I think I need a polar fleece gown. I am always cold, even with my extra insulation. I just love this little guy dancing.
Jen, I haven't thought about after goal yet. I still take it one week at a time, not sure if I will be able to stay with MF for another 50 lbs at the rate I am going but maybe. It is very easy to do and I don't mind it most of the time.
I do know that I will need to weigh in weekly after and if up more than say 3 or 4, it's back to MF for a week.
Isn't that a comfort? We can make sure we stay in a range forever or go back on for a week or two. Once we are down, how cool would it be to know that we only have to do MF for a week or two?? I can't imagine!
