I know we are all different and will have different numbers but I am curious to know just how much did you lose at the completion of Phase 1 and did you exercise during that period?

I just finished Phase 1 yesterday. I did not exercise at all. I lost about 5 pounds, but that includes numerous "cheats" (not really cheat foods full of sugar or anything, but eating more fat than I should, eating more nuts than I should, etc.). I also got my TOM during the second week of Phase 1, so that is currently affecting my weight on the scale.

5 lbs. both times I have done it. I guess 5 lbs. is my Ph1 number.

I lost 10lbs. I made it with No cheats and daily excercise.Starting with 1 mile and building up to 3.

Did I mention it was HARD! Those first two weeks I had to fight with myself everyday not to cheat and to force myself to excercise. Luckily I have a SB Buddy that I report in to every night. That really kept me accountable.

which I read right before I began Phase One on January 1, 2008, Dr A says you do NOT have to exercise to make this diet work! As far as I could tell, and I read it carefully, he never mentioned about a specific exercise program or plan that you needed to follow.

So, the way that I took that was exercise if you want but you don't have to. I also read, with keen interest, other people's experiences here on 3FC to see what the consensus was. It sounded like some people found that exercising was more difficult when they were on Phase 1 HOWEVER I did not ask if this was their first time doing Phase One AND just starting exercising or what.

I did NOT exercise. In fact, I decided to take a sabattical from exercising since the end of November for no other reason than I "want to". I am going to resume my formal exercise program on February 1st. Why? I "feel like it". Maybe, it has something to do with the days getting longer and hearing the early spring birds (I live in Georgia) chirping but I feel like "moving again"!

I lost 4 lbs the first 10 days. Then, I ran out of groceries for the food plan and I didn't get paid until the following Tuesday so I went back to my WW plan in the interim. I went directly into Phase Two on the scheduled date, January 15th rather than finish up my last four days on Phase One. I stepped on the scale on Day Two of Week One on Phase Two (a lot of numbers there, huh?;)) and I lost another 8 lbs.

Since, I had been dieting since last September (see ticker) I just figured that when Dr. A says 8-13 lbs he is talking about the person who hasn't picked up a diet in a long time. SO, I wasn't expecting any thing, really. I just figured the Phase One is like an initial "detox" since most people start it on January 1--you know, after all of that holiday eating.

I was expecting to feel just awful and, yes, I had a couple of hours where I felt sort of light-headed here and there but I am kind of "dizzy":dizzy: on my own any way so I just shrugged that off as my blood sugar or blood pressure dipping a little too low.

The first week of Phase Two I had 1 carb/1 fruit. Then beginning on week Two of Phase Two I began 2-3 carbs per day (the low glycemic kind) and 2-3 fruits per day(again the low glycemic kind). I have remained at that and I plan to continue to remain at that. I feel comfortable with that. I usually have both of those early on in the day so my lunch and dinner meals resemble the Phase One meals.

I have had one planned "cheat" meal this past Sunday. I made a big bowl of stove top popped corn with canola oil and home made fudge. The fudge is my DH's favorite and I was feeling in a "sweety pleasing" mood. Maybe, a little guilty that he hasn't had any 'sweets"( besides me) in the house for a month. I just needed a mental break from following the plan to the letter (which I had done up until then). I sent the fudge with my DH to work (a big hit!) and resumed my plan Monday morning "as usual".

I have a lot to lose and I want to get this off in a year's time so I know that I have my work cut out for me. I know my limits and I don't test them. I want a steady 2 lbs weight lose each week and I hope to be able to do that until I am my goal weight.

I stuck to the diet without one single day of cheating and exercising about every single day (maybe 6 times a week) with cardio (no weights). I lost about 15 pounds. This was back in November/December right after Thanksgiving. Hope I helped!

I lost 4lbs on PhaseI. I was way too weak and tired the first 5 days to exersize. After that, I worked out 3-5 days a week. (walking 4 miles at a fast clip/ or 40 min. step aerobics)

I lost 8# in Phase I and I did moderate exercise, nothing more strenuous than walking on a treadmill 30 min 5 x week. I had been dieting previous to South Beach (Weight Watchers Flex Plan) after a food frenzy over the holidays. If it was there, I ate it. However, after a week of following WW to the letter, (This had always worked well for me previously) I actually had gained a pound the week prior to South Beach. That was kind of the last straw for me and carbs. So glad I switched.

I lost 5lbs on Phase 1; my only exercise was walking daily at least 1/2. ;)

I lost 20 pounds without exercising. I think it is related to the fact that I have so much to lose and that prior to this I could have been the spokesperson for what you should not eat.

During this phase 1 I lost 5 lbs with exercise but I have lost a total of 33 lbs since last January, slow and steady- I exercise because I enjoy it and it gives me more energy not because I have to.

I just finished Phase I and I lost 13 lbs. I had no cheats and I exercised just 20 minutes of cardio, every-other day. Most seems to be from my belly and neck area, which is where I tend to retain water.

I finished last week, lost 10.4 pounds. I was pretty happy with that. No cheating, but no exercise outside of normal housework.

I lost 12 pounds during phase 1. BUT...I pulled my back out on day 7 and could barely walk, and then only to the potty twice a day. DH realized after about 2 days that I wasn't eating or drinking anything until he came home from work. I was mostly asleep due to muscle relaxers anyway! He then started coming home at lunchtime to bring lunch to me and fill my iced tea glass. My body has stalled at that 12 pound loss now for 2 more weeks. I am still happy with the fact that I am down 12 pounds for January. I hope I can lose at least half that for February AND without hurting myself and being stuck in bed for a week! For the same reason...the back...I haven't yet begun exercising. I think this week I feel up to starting slowly with simple walking. DH gave me Arthur Murray dance lessons for Christmas and we are hoping to start those in the next couple weeks.
I think everyone SHOULD exercise for the health benefit. This doesn't mean you should start during phase 1. Probably better to get past the first 2 weeks and then start slowly but consistent and intentional exercising.
Just my 2 cents worth.
Good luck all on phase 1 and phase 2.

I did Phase 1 for three weeks, and lost 9.5 pounds. (Damn...10 lbs would really have been too much to ask, wouldn't it?) :)

I have worked out (Running 3.5 miles + weights) 4-5 times per week since I started.

Good news is, I am half-way to my goal of losing 20 lbs!

I lost 6 pounds without exercise and one cheat
