Weight Loss Surgery - Lapband surgery and soda

Hi, I'm new to the boards and am curious about the lapband surgery. Now I know this is going to show how much I'm probably not ready (mentally) for such a serious step, but I'll ask anyway. I thought I read that you can no longer drink soda. Is that correct? I never drink regular soda, but am hooked on Diet Coke. I don't know if I can give it up!! Pathetic, but true. :)
So, what's the deal?
Thanks
Leenie

Its the carbonation thats the culprit..... if you love the taste of Diet Coke then just let the soda go flat and drink it like that. I thought I would have a hard time giving up DC but it was much easier then I thought. Plus knowing if I drink it I'll be in pain helps LOL.
Good luck.

You know, the thing about any WLS is that it's different for everybody. Soda doesn't bother me a bit, but others can't drink it at all. I very rarely drink it though, because I refuse to drink diet soda and I can't justify the calories in the fully leaded stuff.

p.s. Hi Leenie!
I can do Seltzer if I let it go flat a bit, but soda rarely then I just take up room that could have food.
