Default mastercook software/figuring nutritional value

i was wondering if anybody knows about the mastercook software for your computer. i read in another thread that it will calculate the nutriontional value of your food. does it calculate the nutritional value of recipes that you make?? i have to try to keep things changed up in my house for my husband to eat healthy and i know i can just change the way i make some of his favorite meals to make them healthier, but then i don't know the actual nutritional value to calculate my points and everything. or does anybody know if there is a way to figure out the nutritional value of home cooked recipes??

Mastercook contains the USDA nutrition database, along with additional ingredient nutrition data. So when you enter a recipe into it, it can figure the calories etc for you. If an ingredient isn't in Mastercook, such as a specific sauce or other product you include, you can enter it into the database from the label on your product and it will store it for you, then factor it into your recipe.

I love it Unfortunately, it won't work on Vista so I'm trying to search out another product and haven't had any luck finding anything that I like as much as Mastercook.

Default I purchased a copy

I just purchased MasterCook and am anxious to use it. I didn't catch on to this software as quickly as I have other software, so I need to find the time to sit down and study how to use it.

i ordered it and am anxiously awaiting it arrival on my front door step! i can't wait to get it and begin using it (although while waiting, i have found a website that will calculate the nutritional value of recipes, which was pretty much my sole reason to get the mastercook software)! still looking forward to using it though!

Mastercook does work under Vista, though there are special instructions for installing and operating.

Thanks Kelly! I have Mastercook 5 Deluxe which just falls within those instructions. I'll give it a try later today. I use the WW tools so much that I haven't had much time to play with MC

I have Mastercook and Living Cookbook. I'm still a die hard MC user but I like how Living Cookbook looks. Living Cookbook also can figure out the points for recipes. http://www.livingcookbook.com/ There's supposed to be a new version coming out shortly (although no specific date has been given). There's also a free trial that you can download (for 25 uses or something like that). It also does work with Vista even though that operating system isn't listed. I just searched through the LC forum and the programmer has said that it works.
