GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM:

http://members.aol.com/debelli/monday_morning_thought.jpg

THE BEST DAY YET

The past is now officially over. You now have the opportunity to move away from every disappointment you have ever known and toward whatever future you decide to create for yourself.

Today you can take the best of what you have become and use it to make yourself and your world even better. Today you can put to use everything you have learned through the good times and the bad. The wisdom and experience you've spent a lifetime to build are yours to use in moving forward.

There is every reason to expect that today will be the best day yet. So expect it and live it. There's nothing to be gained from holding yourself back. There is every kind of joy, wonder, achievement and fulfillment to be experienced by moving enthusiastically forward.

The new, improved you is ready and waiting to get started. No matter what the circumstances may be, you can make this the best day ever. And it's yours to live this very moment.

Good Monday Morning everyone! I'm getting ready to go to work, thought I'd post.

Monday's are crazy for me... I work until 12:30, then my youngest son has gymnastics from 1-2, then I pick up my oldest at 2:30... I probably won't have time for lunch. I wondered if maybe those Carb Solutions bars or something would help me out on Mondays? I have to find something I can do on the run, that doens't require refrigeration. That is my Monday schedule at least until May, and I don't want to be hungry, because I'll be likely to binge when I get home at 3!

I need to find me some of the light Agave.... TV, do you use it? And if you do, where around here can I get it since we're only 10 miles apart..LOL! I guess if we can't get it around here, and you're interested... we could order some and split the shipping. I don't think I'm gonna need too much. I'm no Betty Crocker.

My husband has about passed out that I've cooked more than 3 times in the past 2 weeks!! LOL!!

Deb - I know what you mean about sales! I went to Kroger last night, and bought 8 packages of boneless chicken breast, at BOGOF, and 2 packages of pork chops the same, and 2 Round Roasts the same!!! I love getting free food! I did great and my freezer is full of meats now, so I can eat right! I make enough at night, that I can stick a container of leftovers in the fridge for me to eat when I get home at 1pm before I leave at 2pm to get the kids from school. (Last night I made the most YUMMY chicken, I posted about it on the Food For Thought board for this week... it was soooooooooooooooo Good!!!) Tonight I'm gonna try the Creamy Chicken Pockets that BOB posted on the recipe board, I have a LOT of chicken, so variety is going to be the key, and I have all the stuff to make it. (which is sometimes the bigger key!)

Well... I'm off to work... Tonight I'm walking whether I like it or not, even if it is only 30 degrees here... :o

Have a Wonderful day ladies and gents!! Remember when you put that food in your mouth this week, that the point of it is to make you healthy and thin! There isn't anything in the fridge or cabinets that is worth losing sight of your goal... and you CAN make it!!

Some of us have a longer way to go, but just think, with all this healthy stuff we're feeding ourselves now.... WHAT A JOURNEY!!!

Hi all,
I don't post here often - but wanted to say hello and ask a question. :?: We eat in Japanese restaurants quite a bit - and have not had the Udon soups since I wasn't sure if they are allowed. Does anyone here know if Udon noodles are SB legal??? They are made from buckwheat. Also, does anyone know the ratio of substituting Splenda for agave????

Don't think I'll be able to catch up with last week's board! Sorry about that everyone. I didn't even have a chance to read it all, so I'm gonna start fresh here.

Well, I finished a whole week of BFL exercising! :D I'm liking the weights. I love the cardio. I'm actually stronger than I thought and have to increase the weights for some moves. I started with baby weights, 3-5-7-10, so I'll have to drop the 3 pounder and add a 15!

I am really struggling with having 6 minimeals a day. Sometimes I'm just not hungry and hate trying to shove food in. Actually one of my goals for the BFL 12 week challenge was to stick with the SB WOE and I think that suits me. So I'll do BFL exercises and SB eating. Whatever works to lose these inches!;)

DH is going on a weird evening shift for a wee bit. Going to screw up my schedule too:dizzy: Can't do too much noisy stuff (vacumming, having radio on while doing housework) in the day cause he'll be sleeping. But I should get some stuff done after DS goes to bed--he can sleep thru anything.

Here's to a new week! Let's make it a good one!

HiedieHo All!!!

I think I have ended my relationahip with "john". Good thing as I have a busy day. Have regular doctor's appointment, then post office, drugstore, Wal*Mart, grocery and exercise. Not necessarily in that order!

Tomorrow I have the Bible Study group here. We usually serve desert and coffee/tea. DEB I am going to try your Blueberry Buckle!

Got a call from a local friend last night, she was checking to see why I wasn't in church, and she couldn't believe I hadn't watched the Super Bowl. I should have watched, she said, since the Patriots won. Being a Yankee she thought I'd be glad about that! She said I had no taste since I watched ice skating and a movie!!!! I was the only person she knew who didn't have "bowl fever!!" What can I tell you? I march to a different drummer!!

Catch y'all later. Take care. sef

Hi y'all! Sorry I was MIA last week, things have been crazy here. It sounds like I missed a busy week! I'll have to go read through all the posts to see what's going on with everybody. I've been doing pretty good about staying OP, and hope to be down a few more pounds this week.

Does anybody know about Nature's Own bread? They make a SF WW bread, and a serving size is 2 slices. Does that mean I can count 2 slices as a starchy carb instead of just 1 slice?

I hope everybody has a great week!

Good Monday Morning Everyone:wave:

WOW! What a week we had with posts on the board last week-I'm truly impressed with everyone's participation and enthusiasm-it sure helps keep our moral high and moving in the right direction!:D

Got my walk in early today since I didn't have to take the kids-my week to p/u. Thank goodness, we finally have a reprieve from the heat and humidity, at least for the next few days. Nothing in the way of cold, but a tad cooler. It was in the low 60's when I hit the pavement this morning-not too cold, not too hot-but just right. I was able to tie my 3rd best time for my 4.5 miles, did it in 44:56:spin:

Not happy with the scale this morning:( Got on there and it was 124.5:eek: I'm hoping this is my spike before going down, but if it is, it sure is late in coming. BUT, last month this happened and right after the spike I had a 4 days right after that I lost 6lbs-so here's hoping-or more like praying!

I went to KMART to p/u the other pics from Orlando-idiots never got them on line, so ended up with a CD. Will try my best to get some of these on here, hate having them on CD, can't easily share them as if they were on line and may have to manipulate the size of them to get them to fit on the board-so please, be patient with me!:^:

I have a lot of phone work to do this week, trying to get volunteers for a telephone tree for a meeting next Tuesday night-getting parent volunteers is harder than pulling my own teeth it seems, esp. for high school students.

Hey, if anyone is having a hard time getting in their fiber, just a little tip-an ounce of Fiber One and 6 ounces of raspberries gives you a whopping 25 grams of fiber. When choosing foods, esp. fruits, I try to choose those higher in fiber.

REMINDER: If you haven't had a chance to post your BIO on the latest BIO BOARD please do so when you have a chance-THANKS!:D

BETH, your lunch time dilema is really not a dilema at all. I would nix the idea of those carb bars. Since you KNOW this is a Monday ritual for a while, you can easily plan in advance. Get a small cooler/lunch bag with a cold pack you keep in the freezer and put some yogurt, or cheese, or something you can keep cold in there and just take it with you. Want hot food, then buy one of those Alladin insulated jars that will keep foods hot for hours. Only when you are in an emergency and can't find ANYTHING better would I suggest the carb bars, but you can always find something. Take some fruit, pb&j, gosh, there's lots of things!!! LOL, my family would run out if I tried to cook for them 3 times a week-they hate my cooking-but then again, most of the time, so do I! Sounds like you got some great bargains at Krogers!!!!

BOB, your SWEETIE must of been thinkin about you-he brought home a bag of COLOMBIAN for you for me to bring you next month!;)

SUGAR, I believe that the buckwheat noodles are indeed okay on SB. Haven't a clue the ratios between Splenda and Agave since one is powder, in small quantity and the other liquid and using a larger quantity. Sorry I can't answer this one better.

CHRISTIAN, nice to see your post and looking forward to seeing you on our boards more often:)

ZANNE, congrats on all the exercise you got in last week. Personally, I have NO PROBLEM eating mini-meals, it seems I eat all day long and rarely find myself to be hungry-guess that's about the only thing I'd like about BFL!

SEF, boy, you do have a busy agenda today! Let me know how you like the BLUEBERRY BUCKLE I bought some blueberries last night with the thought of making one as well-but then I'm thinking about it with the knowledge that I know I will be eating way too much of it. It's good when you have to make something and you know you'll be taking it for others to eat, unlike me, where it tends to sit at home, which with me around, isn't long!

HAM, I buy the Nature's Own SGWW SF Bread. The serving size says 1 slice on my bag, not 2. Personally, I take a slice and a really good serated knife and split it in half to make 2 slices out of one. BUT, if you want to eat 2 slices, I would say that it would probably be considered as 2 starchy carbs. A serving of bread is equal to 1 ounce and that's just about what a slice is of the bread.

Well, I'm going to finish eating my early lunch. Made a tuna melt on pita bread-yummy!!!

I'll check in with you all later.

Have a a great week!

OK... I posted this question a while back, but didn't get an answer. I was looking for some WW tortillas, and pita bread... and when I read the labels of what my grocery store had... they had MORE carb grams than the white tortillas. What's up with that?

I got off work early today, so a salad will be lunch...

I haven't been able to bring myself to eat any legal bread. I bought a loaf of the Natures Own SFWW, and I can't eat it. I'm afriad to for some reason. Who knows.

I'm also having a hard time with easy side dishes for dinner. I'm afraid of WW pasta too... LOL. I make a meat, and a veggie... but I always feel like that isn't enough. Any ideas?

Be not afraid of growing slowly, be afraid only
of standing still.

Many of us are dissatisfied with our progress.
Our mind is clear and we're in touch with our
feelings. We have friends to talk to and useful
things to do. Why, then, are we so unhappy at
times? We look at others growing confident
and prosperous. Why not us?

Our growth rate is not up to us. Maybe we
have more character defects to overcome.
Maybe God has special things for us to learn,
and it's taking time. Slow progress means
we're learning our lessons well. And any
progress is better than none. In fact, when we
make no progress, we don't stand still—we
slip backward. As long as we're in touch with
God and sharing our love with others, we're
advancing. And, according to God's schedule,
we're on time.

I'm grateful to God that I'm growing, however
slow.

Good Monday Morning Everyone!

Had a pretty good weekend at work. Off today, so I slept in & as soon as I finish this post, got to get lunch/brunch & get ready to go meet with my sis for an appt at 3pm. My Mom, as some of you may remember, went into the Nursing Home last May because of Alzhemier's disease. She's still pretty much with it, but there are a few things that still have not been done, like Power of Attorney, so that we can take care of certain things for her when she will no longer be able to sign for herself. The doctor & attorney both feels she is still of sound mind, enough to do some important papers, so we are in the process of doing this now. We are 8 of us, 4 bothers & 4 of us girls, so this really needs to be done.

Anyway, I hope you all have a good week. I may not be able to post most of the week, but will check in whenever I get a chance.

FROG, It's still too early for me to make a commitment as to the Oct. get-together, but I'd sure LOVE to come. Am talking to DH about it, so we'll see. Sure sounds like it would be a blast to get to meet with so many others on this board.

Beth2374, I use the Carb Solution Bars & the drinks too. Not on a regular basis, but on occasions exactly as you describe your Monday routine. I find that they hold me up, keep me from eating & craving other things that may be tempting to me at the time. The are the perfect solution for grab & run times when I just can't come up with anything else, so I always carry one in my work bag & keep a couple on hand incase. Side dishes, gee, there are so many choice. Sweet potatoes, cooked Kashi, bown rice, black bean salad, veggies, & more veggies! LOL

Christian Hi, Glad to hear things are going well for you. I'm afraid I don't post nearly as much as I'd like to these days either, but love to check in whenever I can. I like your saying That is sooooo true. I find myself saying no to things more since I've gotten thinner cause it feels so good.

[b]Debbie, I too  when I read your note about my spelling. I spelled it like it sounded to me... My desired weight range is to be closer to 130 than to 135, so that's what I'm aiming for. I'd like to never see 135 again! Even people that see me everyday are now asking have you been sick? They are not too sure cause the loss is really showing now. When I take my "size large" lab coat off at work, the are noticing that my "size small" uniforms are getting too big. I Love it!

Zanne I feel the same way about not being able to catch up with last weeks post! ;) But hey, we don't have to. That's why Debbie says to post when we can. I'm glad today is Monday & we can start over again. Sounds like you're doing great with the weights! Congrats.

SEF,You'll love the Blueberry Buckle. It's always a big hit when I make it. Bought some fresh cranberries the other day & plan to try it with those. Thanks again for the email. Really enjoyed reading it. :)

Hamsm Sounds like you're doing great, keep up the good work. I hardly ever eat bread of any kind these days, just seem to have lost my desire for it.

IDBLOND, Loved the post on growing slowly. Soooooo true. Hope you're feeling better after your most recent work.

See ya'll!

Good morning all!

I’m trying to fight the PMS blues today – You all that have had a hyster. – will this still happen after??? Not having TOM is definitely a HUGE PLUS! If the mood swings/high emotional days go away too then I can’t get this scheduled soon enough!! I go for the consultation on the 12th – 1 week from tomorrow.

Beth – I got some Agave awhile back and haven’t used it – I’m no Betty Crocker either!! I got them to order it at Herb’N Life, a health food store in the little shopping center at the corner of Slaughter and Hwy 72. They had to order it for me, but I think they ordered a couple extras (they are small bottles). You could call them to see if they still have it – their # is 722-9198. I also have been meaning to go to a place called Food for Life on N.Parkway. They advertise to be “N. AL’s largest and most complete health food store”.
AND - the pita bread - you have to look really close at the ingredients. There is one that is perfectly legal called Toufayan (not sure if I spelled it right) in the wheat form, of course. I get it at Food World, Brunos or Winn Dixie. Not sure why those would have more carbs than white ones, but remember, we aren't really cutting carbs, but only eating the good ones. White or enriched flour products are bad ones :nono: - whole wheat/grains are the good ones! It really boils down to how quickly your body breaks it down and the more processed or refined it is, the quicker your body turns it to sugar!! The "whole" things take longer to be broken down. I personally would love it if I could stay away from the bread, alltogether - so I think that is good for you as long as you can stand it. Don't feel guilty as long as it is legal. You better put that bread in the fridge - It molds quickly if you don't! I've never tried those tortilla's you mentioned, seems all I can find have some illegal ingredients. I use the ww pita bread to make a taco pizza when we do mexican -- layer pita, refried beans, taco meat, cheese - heat - then add sour cream and/or salsa - yum, yum - don't need no tortilla!! That is my favorite SB legal meal, in fact, I think I'll have it tonight!! The ww pasta is pretty good, but I have trouble limiting portions with it so I very seldom use it.

Deb – I think Mom is realizing how hard this is becoming for the rest of the family. She has been asking me what everyone has said about it. I just told her that it appeared things were moving very fast and it is just difficult for the rest of us to cope with the possibility of another man being brought into the picture. I also asked her what his kids thought, and they aren’t saying much either, so I’m pretty sure they are fighting the same internal battle as we are.

Sef - soooo glad you are feeling better today!

Gotta run for now – I am eating lunch and typing at the same time – Lunch = small bowl of pinto beans and a big granny smith apple and water. So far, so good today (I was very bad again this weekend).

See you all later,
tv

Beth--Mondays are crazy for me too. I volunteer at the crisis pregnancy center until 1 pm. Then home for chores, and then to workout at 3. Then off at 4:30 to pick up my daughter for dinner and a class we both go to. I get home at 9:30, exhausted. I still have to read the new lesson from the class, and get to bed around 11 with my brain still whirling.

SEF--I didn't watch the game either. My shoulder was hurting me so bad (I think I have a pinched nerve) that I went to bed. I made an appt. to get my shoulder looked at, and will prob. have a cortisone shot to relieve any swelling of the nerve. But I couldn't get an appt. for 2 months. So I'll have to deal with the pain for that time. :(

Frog--I don't think I will be able to make it to the October get together in NC. We do a ton of travelling in the fall, and are gone almost every weekend up to Thanksgiving. I'll be there in spirit, though.

Gotta go get ready for workout. And still have a few chores to get the house in order.

Good morning/afternoon all! I see the board was really hopping last week, and quite a few newbies also. Sorry Ive been away but things have been really busy for me. Been playing golf when the weather is not to cold, and some yard work.

i got on the scales last week and to my surprise/shock i have gained all but 5 lbs back from my original weight when I started. I just feel so helpless. It has taken almost a year to get back to where I started. Kinda depressing. Looks like i need some major butt-kicking to get back on track. I know, only I can control what goes in my mouth, I just need a really big helping of self-control. Maybe if all of you sit on my shoulders it might help.

I am going to start the BFL exercise program tonite. I have 3,5,8,10,15 lbs weights to start with. Anyone on this program have any hints as to what exercises to begin with. How long did it take before you saw any results. I am in the gotta see it now mindset.

Well Im off to finish my laundry, so I will try and check in later.

Hi there - I was initially going to try to post my bio on the bio page but couldn't get it to so I'll just start here.

I'm 27 years old and have been diagnosed with PCOS. My dh and I have been trying to conceive for over 2 years now and have finally been told that I am borderline diabetic. She recommended the Sugar Busters Diet to me. I've only been on for a week or so now but have already lost 5 pounds so I feel really confident about it. I have a hard time with the sugar portion of if. I'm not a big bread person but rice and pasta are hard to not have.

Anywho.... I'm really glad that I found this website. Please let me know if there is anything else I should be doing!

Thanks,
Shan

Hiya All :)

TV - I called Herb 'n Life right before I read your post, and actually signed on to post that I found some agave. They have 8 - 8oz jars of the light blue agave syrup left for $2.99 a jar. I think I'll buy one, taste it, and if I like it buy some more. I have been to Foods For Life, they have a whole section dedicated to Atkins, and they also have Low Carb bread machine mix, etc. They're pretty nice. They don't carry agave, or a few other things I was looking for, but they're sweet and like to help you out.

I'm off to buy some of that agave, and see if I like it. I'll probably open the jar right there and taste it, so I only have to write one check!! LOL!!!

Wasted day! I absolutely could not sleep and finally gave up at 4am after just lying there for at least an hour. Couldn't think of what else to do, so I did my weight workout at 4am! I don't even remember doing it. Consequently, I've been a total zombie all day, ended up leaving work early. Sure hope I sleep tonite.

Hope you football fans got thru Superbowl without turning it into Piggy Bowl. We were at a neighborhood party and I watched just tons of gunky food disappear, followed by ice cream pies. I was good and just had shrimp, hummus (which I brought, of course) but did have more than the 1 legal glass of red wine:o . Maybe that's why I couldn't sleep! Not used to drinking at all anymore, I'm a real cheap date.

Catlover- I'm on week 5 of BFL. I posted a real long reply to FROG's questions about it last Saturday evening. Way too long a post to repeat, so see if you can find it. If not, email me with your questions so we don't bore the rest of the board to tears again about BFL. It does work, but it's a lot of work.

TV- The PMS symptoms are generated from hormones released by your ovaries, so it depends whether you have a total hysterectomy (they take both ovaries too) or partial (leaving ovaries). Unless you have ovarian problems, docs will leave the ovaries so that you don't go thru surgical menopause. The upside is you won't need HRT, the downside is you still get PMS but no TOM. Life's just full of good choices, ain't it? Good luck at the consult.

Beth- I go everywhere with my insulated lunch box and cold pack, as Debbie suggested. It's usually filled with cottage cheese and a spoon, an apple, turkey breast slices, cut up red and green peppers, sliced zucchini, whatever is in the fridge. I used to use the bars for emergency meals, but realized after a while that everytime I had an emergency meal day, I was in the bathroom all night with an upset stomach or worse.

Hello to everyone else- gotta go invent some new way to disguise chicken breasts for dinner.

Hello all, getting a late start at posting and reading but had to go out of town early this morning and didn't get back till just a bit ago. Bought me some more supplies for this new SB. And last night I printed off some recipes. So I'm ready for this, And its day three and I've still got so much to learn. But tomorrow will try some new things. So far so good. You all sound like you're doing so well. Guess I'd better go read some more....

Well the jury is out on the agave. I bought 6 bottles, but it tastes weird to me. I guess once I cook with it, it'll be ok. Can I use it in my drinks like tea too?

Hiya pooh - I'm an Eeyore fanatic myself, I have Eeyore everything... except my tattoo... it's celtic (but it IS purple..lol) I'm more of a piercing kind of girl believe it or not... I have 11 so far including quite a few in my ears. I know.. I'm strange..LOL! But I'm harmless :) Welcome to the board, and NEVER worry about asking stupid question. There is no such thing around here because we've ALL been asking them!! I've only been doing this 2 weeks yesterday, and I've been doing quite well... been able to avoid all the :nono:!
I quit caffiene and sugar all at once... and I was a Mountain Dew addict! (at least 80-100oz a day of the regular stuff). But once I quit... I actually have MORE energy!!

I know how you feel Mel... it's good, but it gets repetitive and nobody will eat it. I'll let ya know how the Creamy Chicken Pockets recipe that BOB posted turns out, and if you come up with something wonderful... please share!!!!!!!!! (Tonight DH requested roast... so the Chix is tomorrow.. I'll update ya on it!

PS - Deb - I've had 60 ounces of water so far today!!!!! Hoooooray!!!!!!!!!!! (I'm having my mail forwarded to the ladies room though  )

Later Beautiful People :)

Pretty lazy day-just had to sign some papers. BAD day with food :( I only have myself to blame. DH needs new weights, so we stopped at Walmart to check for some. DS was hungry so we had McDonalds! Bad Zanne:nono: I feel so full and gross. At least I've been SB legal with everything else I've eaten. Drinking lots of water--maybe I can wash the bad stuff away:lol: I'll just have to really push those weights tonight!

WELCOME to all the new faces! I'm an erratic poster. Feel free to ask questions, that's how we learn.

SEF Glad you're feeling better. Not everyone is Superbowl crazy.

DEBELLI I'm sure the scale will go down for you very soon. Too bad the photo bozos didn't get your pics the way you wanted them. I tend to eat all day too. Just can't eat in the BFL prescribed way (carb and protein serving 6x). I'll have to figure out something with my eating as one of my Feb. goals. Thanks for the exercise encouragement.

BETH WW pasta is great! Don't be afraid. You could make a bean salad with chickpeas, kidney beans and maybe some steamed green beans. I have occassionally bought a can that is a 6 bean mix. Add a little oil and vinegar, a bit of salt and chopped onion. Does that help?

MELF Thanks for the encouragement with the weights. Hope your meeting went well. I know my mom and aunts had a stessful time getting all that stuff done when they put my grandmother into a home.

TV Can't help you with your question, but I hope you're feeling better real soon. Keep us posted on what you and the doc decide.

CAT I'm doing the BFL exercises too. I chose 2 exercises for each body part from the book. I picked the 2 I thought I would like best (so I'd keep doing them). Sometimes it was by default cause I don't have the machines at home like some moves show. I started out with 3-5-7-10, but will be dropping the 3 and adding a 15 for some exercises. The cardio I do on an elliptical where I can increase the resistance as it gets too easy. I LOVE the cardio!! I'm not as into the weights as MELIRIS, but you can email/PM me too if you want. If you do the program, it will work. You won't see it overnight, but I've lost an inch off my belly and an inch off my waist in the past 2 weeks. That was great news to me.

MEL Hope you can sleep tonight! I can definately relate to that.

HELLO to all I've missed!

Gotta go get DS some grub. DH is working nights, so I'll do my weights tonight. Have a good evening all!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

Though I would give everyone a little giggle for the evening.
Couldn't resist this one...

A lady walks into this diner sits at the luncheonette counter and orders a
hamburger. The huge woman behind the counter bellows, "One burger!" Ed the
cook, who's even bigger and more disgusting, screams, "Bur-ger!", whereupon
he grabs a huge hunk of chopped meat, stuffs it in his bare armpit, pumps
his arm a few times to squeeze it flat, and then tosses it on the grill. The
lady says, "That's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen."

The waitress replies, "Oh yeah? That's nothing. You should be here in the
morning when he makes the doughnuts!

Hello Everyone!

I just had to tell you that I got on the scales today and I am down 2 more pounds. I hope it holds for WIW. I am really proud of drinking all of my water yesterday and have downed 80 Oz so far today and am on my next 20 oz bottle. Yes.... I have been in the bathroom all day:)

I am finding it much easier now that I have planned my entire week of meals and snacks. That way, I know exactly what I will eat and notbing else.

Everyone have a great evening!

I posted a few recipes from my "Whole Foods For The Whole Family" cookbook on the recipe board!!

Anyone know if unsweetned shredded coconut is legal? I use it in one!

I think this cookbook is gonna be a really good resource for me now. I used to cook out of it when I was nursing, packed it when we moved 2 years ago.. and forgot it...

Hi Everyone!
Cooler weather in the south, suppossed to get in the 30's tonight :o . I'll have to bundle up! You'll be loving this weather Deb! Had eggs/cheese/bacon for bfast. Roast Beef on Rye for lunch and made my first Pita Pizza. I have a couple of questions though - Is the Rye Bread from Publix Bakery legal? It tastes so good and fresh it must not be legal. Also on the pita pizza - I used the whole pita and just put on sauce and cheese (lots of cheese). I know I probably went over on bread today but dh made pancakes for dinner and I steared clear from them. So I plan on later having some yogurt for my snack and then that's it. Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention - had a meeting at work today, and they had a big dish of crispy m&m's - so I just had a few, and then a few more, etc. WHY DO I DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, now no more- I will be good tomorrow! On the bright side, I'm not gaining, I'm just no losing!!

Does anyone have a recipe for apple crisp? Do you think you could use ww flour instead of white? Splenda instead of sugar? I think I'll go to hfs and see if they have agave. Does it act like sugar in recipes?

Sorry to be such a whiner about my food intake, but some day I will get some will power and just say no!

Well kids, have a great day tomorrow and feel free to sit on my shoulder and help me!

Nitey nite all:yawn:

Just a quickie -

Bob - we were just in Gatlinburg in November and we've been in that area about 5 or six times now, so we are getting familiar with it. No travel agent here:)

Gator - sounds like we're having the same shoulder problems. Sitting here typing is killing me and driving is even worse. Today the doctor gave me naprocyn (sp?). I was hoping for something stronger. Can't get into PT until March 1. I told the appointment taker that maybe I wouldn't need it by then:lol: Take care of it!!
My computer time is really limited now, but I'll be lurking here and there.

Have had a busy day today and am in a bit of a funky mood :?: Not sure why, hope it leaves soon!

The weather here is soooo windy I could hardly walk down the street! No kidding! Strong gusts.

The total beach count so far is 3 yes, 4 no and 4 maybes. If more people don't sign up we may have to change the format to guys and girls and BOB can bring her Sweetie afterall. I am hoping that some of these maybes become yes's and some of the no's change their minds too. The house is 4 stories tall, at this rate we can each have a floor to ourselves.

Started BFL today. Bought some of the protien supplement but think I may take it back. DH doesn't seem to think I need it but I do. But what do I know? Anyhow, I even went so far as to take the disgusting before pics! They were certainly eye opening.

Have some race/O-town pics to scan. Took them to work today but didn't have enough time to even go to the potty! Just one of those days. Tomorrow may be a challenge to get them done too because I have only a few hours that I am in the office but I will give it my best shot. Some really great pics to share!

DEB - You weighed this morning? I guess Eli didn't hide your scale afterall. I bought one of those digital ones that also analyzes body fat. Results were not what I was hoping for. Oh well, just gotta work harder. Glad you got your walk in today.

CAT and ZANNE - Looks like we have several BFLers on here! GREAT! It's fun that we are all at different stages too.

WELCOME POOH!

SLAPHAPPY - Try to make your dish with WW pastry flour. Your HFS may have it. Good luck!

Sending get well wishes to all of our under the weather friends out there!

Well, I guess that just about does it. Have a good night everyone!

Peace,
FROG

I want to apologize for being AWOL this entire weekend. It seems I just couldn't get any extra time to post. Paul and I are spending every minute of our free time putting together the video for my niece's wedding. Paul's been editing the video part and I've been resizing and "fixing up" the still digital shots that we took. It's a huge job and we want to get it finished like yesterday. So that's the reason for the silence from the Quilter.

Not much else to report. Eating has been so-so. I'm gradually getting my act together. Thank god, TOM is over and I should level out on those wacky cravings.

I'm going to read today's posts and will hopefully be able to stay awake long enough to respond. Hope you all had great weekends.

Talk to you soon.

Karen3000--I've had this shoulder problem for 3 years now. It is kinda in the back of my shoulder, but sometimes radiates up the side of my neck, and it hurts so much sometimes it feels like it is on fire. I fell and severely injured my hand about 3 years ago and was so occupied with getting that fixed that I just ignored the shoulder. Then I went for physical therapy for it but it did not do a thing. Then I've tried massages and chiropractic, but they don't really work either. My GP told me that it was a nerve that went through a bundle of tendons and that the nerve somehow got inflamed. He put his finger on the exact spot where the pain was the worst, so I guess he may be right. Anyway, I think the golf I have started to play has aggrevated it even more.

Hope your shoulder gets better soon!!!

Evening All:wave:

Just a quick quickie to say hi:wave: Have been busy all night between the phone and trying to type of 15 names for each of the volunteers to make phone calls to other parents regarding our fund raiser-not a phone thing. I'm tired, pooped and feelin barfy (hope that helps the scale tomorrow)! Going to bed, so don't have time to respond to all.

Eli's off tomorrow-not sure of our plans at this time-if I don't get to post to everyone in the morning will get to do so hopefully before our regularly scheduled chat at 9:15pm tomorrow-hope to see you all there!

See you in the morn (I hope).

Hi all
Hope that the week has started out great for everyone.
I can't beieve that the board is so busy so early in the week. That is great, this place is so full of support, (which I really need)
I am still having a problem with getting things under control. I wish I knew what the key is to make things change back to the way it was. I felt so strong before, and now it is sooooo hard.

Sounds like everyone has a busy Monday, today I started work with a 6 am staff meeting and got out at 5:30 pm. And this was with only 3 1/2 sleep. Needless to say, I had to come home and take a nap. Then I really didn't feel like doing anything tonight. But I will be back in the pool tomorrow.

Deb, you really think I should go for the diamonds, i thought that is what having guys around were for. I would have though just having someone who wants to take me out all the time now would be motivation enought to make me eat legal. ???Could this be another defense thing against dating??? The tricks the mind can play!!!

Well, I need to get going at work on a report due in the morning. will be in touch, Have a great Tuesday. Laurie

Hi everyone

Thought I would try and get a post in before hitting the sack. Was out to badminton this evening and had a good workout. Had a nasty surprise when I got home from work to-day. I had a letter telling me to report for jury duty on the 4th March, which is two days before I am due to leave for my holiday, and also on the 11th March. I have to get on the phone in the morning and see if I can get it postponed. I will be really pissed if I have to cancel my holiday. I am hopeful though that it can be postponed as there was a leaflet with some FAQs that came with the letter, one of which was about if you had a vacation booked.

Deb - I'm not sure if the agave and eggwhites would be enough to hold the granola together to make bars, but it would be worth a try. Unfortunately I'll have to wait awhile before I can make any more goodies as I am completely out of agave. I have some on order but it may take a couple of weeks before I get it. I made some bars the other day using a converted oatmeal cookie recipe and adding walnuts, dried apricots, sunflower and sesame seeds. I also added some coconut, so would be interested to know if this is considered legal. I don't think I have ever seen a gi for coconut. They tasted delicious even if they were still a bit crumbly. Next time I think I will just make them as cookies and see how they turn out.

Sol - Way to go with the walking. Hope you don't meet any more nasty, scary dogs on your travels. Falafels - haven't had them for a while but I have a packet of mix to use up so it's about time I made them again. After all the hummus I was eating a while ago I had to cool it - couldn't stand to be around myself

Slaphappy - Sourdough bread is legal, in moderation. There's an article on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD which explains why it is acceptable. Only 30 degrees in Florida! Hope I don't have to bring winter clothes with me when I come. There's a recipe for APPLE CRISP on the November 2001 Recipe Board that I posted. It uses sgww flour, oatmeal and wheatgerm, and splenda. I use the sgww pastry flour although I didn't specify this in the recipe but I will go back and edit it. Thanks FROG for jogging my memory about the flour.

Sef - There will be a lot more skating to watch soon - just four more days before the start of the olympics.

Mel - Hope you sleep better tonite.

Toni48 and Poohtatto - Welcome to the board.

Beth - Agave tastes great in coffee. I usually use only about 1/2 teaspoon. I find that is enough to take the edge off. I haven't tried it in tea but it should be o.k. too.

Well I'm getting sleepy. Time to get ready for bed.

Marie.

30 DAYS TILL MARIE HITS THE BIG TOWN!

Not much time - busy, busy, busy - BUT I got my 3.5 mile walk in last night - took 1 hour 1 minute 47 seconds. That's about 15 seconds faster than last time I walked the 3.5 loop. No mean doggies this time around. :smug:

I won't be able to do individual posts - but for the ladies looking for some specific recipes - If you go to the search option at the top and type in something generic like just chicken or just apple and select the SB forum you should get some good recipes. I know I've posted a Company Chicken recipe that's really quick, easy and good and dinner tonight and there is an Apple Crisp recipe that Marie posted a while back. Debbie is always putting up some good recipes - and they're not all ME - even though those are very good!

My water intake went up drastically when I started adding the walking to my weight training and now it's dwindled back down to almost nothing. I know I need to add a lot more fiber to my diet also and I wonder if that might have something to do with the scale not really moving all that much.

WELCOME to the newbies! Someone posted that they have been diagnosed with PCOS. I have the exact same diagnosis - PCOS, borderline diabetic and Dr. said get on Glucophage, get on SB and get moving that body. The weight doesn't come off for me unless I'm absolutely PERFECT with my diet and exercise so that's why there's not so much of an improvement in my weight. I go back in April and will probably have my blood work done again then. I'm expecting that at least that part will be better.

MEL I enjoyed reading your information on BFL. I even considered it - especially after looking at the before and after pics, but I'm really good for over-extending myself and Vince winced when I mentioned trying that. I think I'll stick with trying to get SB and Half-Marathon training under my belt for now, but I sure am excited to read about y'all and your successes.

Portable food.....I pretty much always have an apple, a grapefruit, triscuits & cheese, yogurt and protein powder with me. I do have a hard time getting all my protein in and calcium to boot - so the yogurt or cottage cheese mixed with protein powder works for me. We are VERY PARTICULAR about the kind we buy and what's in it so it's not full of gunk and :nono: stuff.

Today for lunch I brought some lettuce chopped and put in a baggie, a whole tomato with a knife, some salsa, some sour cream and some canned fat free refried beans and cheddar cheese. I'll have mee-self a taco salad with some pita bread on the side. It's quick, easy and legal. Thankfully we have a refrig and microwave here at work.

I also use the Toufayan (sp?) whole wheat pitas and I get mine from Publix. (Of course, I'm STILL on the ones our fearless leader brought from Miami! THANK YOU, DEBBIE!!!!! and I will cry when those are gone, but Toufayan is not bad.

We use the WW pasta and I actually prefer that to the 'regular' pasta now. I also prefer the brown Basmati rice to regular and even whole grain brown rice - just have to plan to have time for it to cook. I cooked some last night to have with the chicken tonight since I knew we wouldn't have time to cook it tonight.

WOW! I sure wrote a lot for not having much time! Keep asking questions - all of us learn and/or are reminded of things when people ask.....in fact, ALL OF US ask questions quite a bit. We keep learning from each other.

 HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!

Debelli

Good Tuesday Morning Everyone!

Got in a 3.5 mile walk/jog today, figured I'd do 3.5 today and 3.5 tomorrow and not take tomorrow off. Even broke in another new pair of sneakers, they felt weird, very wide toe area. Hey, at least I didn't get any blisters!:spin:

Made one of the FEARN CAROB CAKES last night (yeah, I know, already THAT spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E! Anyhow, I didn't realize until I had already started that I didn't have enough oil. Ended up with about 2TBL, so I took about a 1/4 cup of apple sauce and added that in-love it! I don't even miss the extra oil-it's delicious, okay, too delicious, had a piece last night and a 5.5 ounce piece this morning. At least it has less fat now than when I've made it in the past. I'll continue to make it like this from now on.

Eli's off today, I think we are going up to Broward but have to be back early because he has to give his DD a ride to work as she tood her car in for service and has to be at work at 4pm-so the day will be short. At this time, I still don't know what the plans are!

BETH, don't worry about the carbs in the WW tortillas or pita bread, one having more carbs than the white ones isn't a concern, just make sure of the ingredients. ALSO, there are recipes for both, I believe, on the recipe boards if you want to try making some of your own. Go ahead and enjoy a slice of the Nature's Own-it makes a great sandwich, though I don't care for it for toast. Nothing wrong with just a main dish and veggies, there's no rule that says you have to have another side dish. If you saw the way I ate you'd probably think you were eating in a Queen's style. Try not to make things difficult for yourself, it's not meant to be hard. If you're comfortable and not over-stuffed, it's enough;) You're the first person who said the agave tastes weird-so that has me wondering. Which brand did you get? To me, it tastes like light corn syrup. Have you decided what to try using it in? You can sweeten anything with it, so have fun experimenting! CONGRATS on your water-you're much better than I. Maybe you can inspire me to drink today-I've been a BAD, BAD GIRL!:s: Checked out the recipes you posted-thanks! I do have a question about the PB SATIN, you don't have to cook it? Has eggs, so that's why I ask. From what I remember, coconut is okay, in small quantities-it's so high in fat.

LDBLOND, thanks for your MM contribution!!! Hey, when are you and NANCE getting together??

MELF, hope you got things situated regarding your Mother. WOW, you do have a big family! As for the goal weight, just make sure you don't go too low, then those who say you look sick will be right. I checked the weight charts for my height and age and the weight I've been is perfect for me. Nobody is telling me that I look sickly anymore, they finally have gotten use to seeing a "normal me!" Time for you to go get a decent fitting lab coat and show of the "new you!";)

TV, was listening to a radio show the other day and wished I had listened to it more intensley-they spoke about an alternate procedure that was very good instead of a hyster. Have the Dr.'s given alternatives? Sounds like your Mom has received some indirect messages on how you and others are feeling. I'm sure deep inside she realizes that there's some anguish going on. Just keep talking to her!

CATLOVER, I wonder if when one goes off plan and finds it hard to get back on if it's a feeling of failure somewhat inside. I always say that I stay OP because I KNOW me so well and how I've done on past diets if I cheated. I just know that if I cheat there's no turning back for me-but why? We want to get back on track, we want to lose the weight-we don't want to jump to yet, another diet-so why does this happen. There has to be SOMETHING inside we aren't recognizing and coming to terms with. BUT, the fact that you are here, still with us says something, maybe the good trying to overcome the bad. I can tell you, the more you come on the board, the more motivated you are going to be. You know you can count on us for support at all times:)

POOH, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! We love that you are joining us!!! Thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD as well as that GREAT PICTURE over on the PHOTO ALBUM BOARD CONGRATULATIONS on your loss so far on SB, that's great! And good going on having a Dr. recognize what a great plan this is to recommend it to you! Don't hesitate to ask any questions, we're all happy to help out in any way. Again-WELCOME!!

MEL, 4am workout-you're nuts! No wonder you're so tired. I too haven't been sleeping well. It's really weird what keeps me waking up in the middle of the night. I feel like I have a searing cut inside my abdomen area and every time I turn, I feel it. I swear, if I didn't know better, I'd think I had an invisible cut! WEIRD! Well, I hope you had a more restful night last night, mine was better.

TONI, I'm at almost 2 years on SB and I'm constantly learning. I always say this is a learning experience. Keep reading, keep asking-you'll do great!

ZANNE, sorry to hear you and Ronald had a struggle and he won-but only that one round, seems you are right back OP;) You mentioned a bean salad to BETH, did you ever make the one I have posted-it's delicious!

BOB, thanks for the e-mail of the funny, my mind was running rampant!
Loved the recipes, I think you should come cook for us one weekend!!! I can see why Skeeter eats so well.

SHEANN, CONGRATULATIONS! 2 more pounds is wonderful!! Good going on the water, you and BETH are putting me to shame!!!

HAPPY, not that cold down here, but perfect weather for SOFLA! It was about 60 when I went for my walk today-love it! I'm not sure about the legality of the Publix Rye-check out the ingredients, that should tell you easily. Do you have a bakery around that deals in whole grains-that's where you could find some good breads-that or WILD OATS/WHOLE FOODS. LMK if the recipe ROSALIE has for the apple crisp doesn't work out, I'm sure I must have one SOMEWHERE, but if she says it's good, I'm sure it's a good one to try.

FROG, I think we need to decide on a deadline and the minimum attendance to book the house, don't you. I for one will be there with bells on (okay, I'll be wearing more than bells). Whatever you decide, just LMK. Hmm, nothing gets past you, does it! Nope, didn't hide the scale-not until I see it take it's downward trend-seeing it high like this is driving me nuts! THEN, after it goes down, I will hide it!! I'll get those pics posted when I have a few free minutes to work on them. They're mostly you looking spify with your medal!!!!

QUILTER, glad to see your post-definitely miss those long ones of yours-my enthusiasm for the day seems to be inspired by reading your enthusiastic posts!!! Hurry back-tell Paul hello!

LAMAP, see my post to CATLOVER above about the eating. It's quite possible there's a reason why you aren't so motivated as you were before, you just have to acknowledge it. I think most of the time we know the problem and just don't want to acknowledge it. Why in the past did I lose weight only to regain it? I think one of my biggest problems was with my GM and how trying to please her by losing weight just made her focus on something else being wrong with me. When I realized that there is NO pleasing this woman, and why the heck was I trying so hard, did it become easy for me to focus on me and what I was going to do for me and how I didn't give a flying rats *** what she thought. When I lost the weight, she couldn't harp on that any more, so what does she say to me: "when are you going to have the moles on your face removed?" I told her, "I happen to like my moles, maybe never!" Diamonds, who the heck needs a man to buy them diamonds-yeah, it's nice, but if I want them bad enough, I'll buy them myself!!! Hey, come meet us in Orlando, and you'll surely be re-motivated!!!!

ROSALIE, I'm sure you can re-schedule jury duty for another time-that would be terrible if they said no!! GOOD LUCK! Remember, if you need the agave from down here, we can try to get you a case before coming to meet you. I'm going to order 2 more today-and pray they can still get it!

SOL, congrats on getting a little faster each time with your walks! Do you need more pita when I come up-just LMK!

Okay, the big boy is ready so I have to wrap this post up! Please remember, TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST!!! Hope to see you all there!

Also, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!!!!! I hope you all have a wonderful weigh-in!!!

Hi everybody. Guess what....It's snowing!:D I mean big time too. We don't usually get much snow here, mostly ice if anything. It's supposed to snow all day and tonight. They haven't called off school yet. Our new superintendent is from west TX where they get lots more snow than we do, so this is probably nothing to him. The kids are all wild.

I've managed to stay pretty much OP. But I get really disgusted with myself when I cheat. I'll just have to do better.

DEB: I've heard of substituting apple sauce for oil, but how do you figure how much to use? Is it an even exchange?

JRED: Is it snowing in Rockwall? Y'all ususally get more of the white stuff than us.

Sorry I don't have time to reply to all. I may have plenty of time on my hands tomorrow if this weather keeps up.;)

DEB - I bought Sweet Cactus Farms Organic Agave Nectar. I just have never tasted it before, so it tastes different to me. Comes in a squeeze bottle, so I dont have to make a mess when I measure... I like that. Now I need to find an easy recipe for something sweet to use it and my WW flour in! LOL!! The PBSatin doesn't call for any cooking... weird huh? I guess since it's stored in the fridge, they think it'll be ok. I'm gonna try those cookie balls I think... since coconut is OK.

Doing OK on the water today... only 40 oz so far, but it's not even noon, so I'll do better by the end of the day.

We're supposed to get some honest to goodness SNOW tonight!! That's rare around here, we usually miss it. If we do, NO WORK!!! It'll be sit at home day :)

Hey... I bet that agave nectar is good on oatmeal for hot breakfast. I used to use honey and cinnamon. I'm betting this would work too :)

I walked yesterday... but sorry... not today, not gonna.. it's waaaaaaay too cold and I'd be so sick. I'll find something to do indoors instead. :s:

I need to get a scale so I can play too on WIW :( LOL!!

Gosh - I just love reading all of your posts. You all sound like you have so much going on! I go to work and then go home.... my dh Joe is gone this week. He travels quite a bit for his job and usually leaves me a week at a time. The first couple of days are great but by Wednesday night and on I'm missin' him!

I had my first Yoga class last night and I LOVE IT!!!! I didn't break a sweat (which is one of the things my RE told me I had to do when exercising) but I did feel like I had bee put through a wringer. I felt great and even left the class really engergized. I have a Yoga for Weightloss tape at home I'm going to do on the days that I don't have class.

I have found that it is incredibly hard for me to find things to eat at night. I'll make Hamburger Helper for dh and then keep about 1/2 cup of the browned meat aside for me to eat and serve the rest to Joe. I'm going to the Recipe board after this to start printing out recipes.

I am really glad that I've found this web-site. You have such a great support system! Thanks for the Greetings....glad to be here!

Ugh- just started what will be a week and a half cooking orgy. I'm hosting a dinner for dd's lacrosse team (Ohio State) the night before they play U of Penn. There are 29 players, 3 coaches, a trainer, a bus driver, and any parents that want to come. Since most of the team is from the Philadelphia area or Baltimore, that may be lots of parents, too. I figure I may have about 60 people here. I looked into having a caterer do some of it, but even with me doing the meats, it was going to be OVER $500!!! FOR THE CATERER. So I started cooking this afternoon. Made 3 batches of brownies and didn't even lick the drips on the counter. I was afraid if I even sniffed too hard, I'd face down in the bowl:cool:
My freezer is already getting full, and I've barely started! At least when I start slicing up fruit, I can nibble that.

What torture!

Hey All:wave:

Didn't do all that much today, leisurely day out with Eli-ended up in the long run doing the Broward thing-lunch at Ole Ole was delicious!

Today has been a feeding frenzy for me-all SB LEGAL but way too much of it. I'm not looking forward to WIW tomorrow-wish to heck I'd of hid that scale! Being at the top of my cushion doesn't make for a good weigh in tomorrow-I feel heavier, very bloated! Back to the grindstone tomorrow!

Ordered 2 more cases of agave-the guy at the store says "I thought by now you'd have enough stock!" I told him I thought I had more than I did, and that I've been using it a lot recently, so my stock is going down-a white lie, I guess-been using it, but not to see a dent. Just thought I already had 6 cases.

My pen-pal that lives in Texas (the one I met in Vegas in Aug 2000) e-mailed me today to ask me more about SB. She has diabetes among other ailments and her Dr. said her diabetes is really out of control. She's thinking about doing SB, so I sent her Rissa's site to give her a better outline of this WOE. I hope she decides to follow it, it would really benefit her. I'm thrilled she asked:spin:

Hoping to make it to chat on time, if not, will be there shortly after. Mom wants us to come see her cousin before she leaves to go back home tomorrow. They were suppose to come here, but may want us to go there-depends on the time they get back from dinner-just wanted to mention this just in case I'm not there right at 9:15pm-just start your *****in without me:s:

MUSIC, from the info I got off the web, there's a few ways you can sub. applesauce for oil, but most sites say to use 1/2 applesauce for 1/2 the oil. If a recipe calls for a 1/2 cup of oil, use a 1/4 cup oil and a 1/4 cup of applesauce-another one says you can use one-for-one, and just add in 2 tablespoons of oil, which is basically what I did last night, I didn't exactly measure, but I would guesstimate I did the second one instead of the first option. Next time I make the cake, I'm going to try the second one with measuring the ingredients.

BETH, the SCF agave is just fine. I asked because the Cucamonga brand is older as far as the shelf life. Agave is also delicious on WW pancakes, my kids love it on there cereal, pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, stuff like that. I would suggest you try something like the ALMOND GRANOLA, or even the BLUEBERRY BUCKLE recipe. Really, depends on what you are in the mood for-just one warning-don't be like me and have no control after you've made something-it could lead to trouble!!;)

POOH, sounds like you had a great time at your YOGA class. I'd love to go to one and try, but can't find anyone to go with me and really don't fancy going alone-wish we lived closer! Dinner should be the easiest meal to find things to eat-definitely check out the recipe boards. Make something you like and freeze portions that you can easily heat for yourself when DH isn't around and you don't feel like cooking for yourself. If you like quiche, the CRUSTLESS SPINACH QUICHE is wonderful and freezes great!!!

FROG, LOVED THE PICTURES!!!! Yours came out better than mine! Loved the pic of Eli and Me! Have already copied it and sent it off to family and friends:D Loved the pic of you and the REAL FROG! You and Mr FROG look great too!!! See you at chat tonight!

MEL, do we live in a mansion? Are you crazy? 60 people! Can I come-heck, what's one more, huh?

NASCAR, do I hear excitement in your post???? LOL!!

Off to the kitchen, the house smells wonderful-Eli's making himself some potatoes:eek: made with LOTS of garlic and cilantro-it's really delicious-I know this before SB. I haven't a clue what I'll have for dinner-the way I've been eating today, it should be nil!

See you all at chat tonight!!

OK... at this moment I am VERY glad I don't have a scale. I feel like a blimp.

I know TOM is on the way in the next few days... but geezum crow, I've eaten EVERYTHING in the house that is SB Legal and hasn't eaten me first!!! I swear I've consumed MASSIVE amounts of food today, and I feel like crapola.

No matter what I was doing... I was snacking. I even drank 80 oz of water so far... I ate raw veggies, triscuits, triscuits with cheese, salad, more salad, more veggies, more triscuits, some soy nuts, a few pieces of SF candy, some pickles, some pickled okra (i love that stuff), some chicken liver, some chicken, ... I mean I never quit shoveling it in today. I hope this stops soon.. or I'll be GAINING instead of losing!!!

I'm gonna try to make the chat... supposed to get snow/sleet/icy crap tonight and my cable modem always goes out when we get yucky weather... but I'm gonna try!!! I need some good "STAY OUT OF THE FOOD!" motivation!!!

**Update** I have aquired a bladder infection... again... ( I have them chronically because of something that happened to me when I was having my youngest son... he was HUGE) Anyway... I got meds, but I'm not sure if my body getting an infection had anything to do with my appetite today?? Anyone???

Loved those pics, FROG. Thanks for posting them. I notice your beachwear is a bit on the warm and fuzzy side. That weather better improve by March! I can stay home and wear a big ole sweater.

Deb- NOT a mansion! Though we seem to be surrounded by them. Sure, come on up for dinner! Everybody come visit! But I don't think anything except the naked salad will be legal:o . Those girls love their pasta and desserts. And they're all so gorgeous from working out and having practice 3 hours a day. Heaven help them when they leave university....

Beth- Hang in there! don't eat the counters! I
WANT to have a day like yours, but so far have resisted except for a spoonful of legal peanut butter. But it was only the major accident at the mall entrance that kept me from going in there and finally getting that cinnabon I've been craving for 6 months! I feel really bad that someone probably got hurt to save me from temptation. As usual TOM hit like a ton of bricks and I either want to kill some one or eat the entire bread section of the grocery store. Or both LOL! Go floss and brush your teeth and lock yourself in your room!

Hi everyone!

I've been away for a few days so I thought I would post how I was doing. This week I was worried that WIW would result in no loss based on my eating. I didn't realy cheat per se, but I had more carbs than I usually do and not enough veggies, and for some reason I can't get enough coffee lately! I was shocked to see that I have lost around 4 pounds this week so far. :D I can wait to see if the scale says the same tomorrow.

I've fallen a bit behind on the boards here as I have been busy with school, dentist (yuk! getting my crown on tomorrow) and listing items on Ebay. I figured I had better post to let you guys know I was still around.

I'm still dealing with my never-ending sleep problems. Another reason I was worried about the upcoming WIW was that I have recenty began to eat cereal (kashi in moderate portions) in the middle of the night again. :( Well, I think I'm going to try and eat dinner later in the evening than I have been to try and prevent the night eating.

I have a few questions about some abbreviations I see used in this forum frequently. I have an idea of their meanings but I just wanted some clarification. What do BFL, DH, DS, OP all mean? :) Forgive my ignorance in this matter! lol

Good luck on WIW everyone!

Here are the answers to your questions:

DH - Dear husband
DD - Dear daughter
DS - Dear son, etc

BFL - Body for Life

OP - On plan

And here are a few others:
WW - Whole wheat

HFS - Health food store

TOM - time of month

BTW - By the way

SGWW - Stone Ground Whole wheat

NSA - No sugar added

Hope this helps! Keep asking questions and we'll be glad to help!

Peace,
FROG

Just a quickie before hitting the sack. I phoned the court office to-day regarding jury duty and they are willing to postpone it until after my vacation. So I can stop tearing my hair out in frustration. I sure wasn't a very happy camper when I got that letter yesterday. The guy I spoke to was very nice and assured me it shouldn't be a problem.

Deb - I may be calling on you to get me a case of agave if mine doesn't come before my holiday. But it's still a few weeks away so hopefully it will get here before I leave.

Karen - Thanks for the info on the Disney websites. I will certainly check them out.

Darasmus - Congrats on the 4 lb loss. Maybe you weren't eating enough before and increasing the carbs got your metabolism going. Whatever the reason it's a good loss.

Frog - Loved the pictures.

I just got home a short while ago from an evening shift and have to be back at work in the morning. So probably won't have much time to read or post tomorrow. Have badminton tomorrow evening.

Greetings to all.

22 DAYS TILL REGISTRATION FOR THE WDW HALF MARATHON!!!!

29 DAYS TILL THE FL GALS GET TOGETHER AGAIN WITH MARIE!!!!!!!!!!

Those of you who have been posting for a while will not be surprised at this news........ I'm up another 2.5 lbs. :?: What the heck is my problem??? I haven't been cheating, but I haven't been good at getting my water and fiber in and my body is so darn particular. I'm going to make it a point to be more faithful to post my food in fitday and add to our Food for Thought board here. I know TOM is coming to visit next week and that could be an issue, but geez-o-pete!!! I took my measurements this morning and they haven't gone down at all either. AAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I know it HAS to start coming off sometime. I've been walking my toosh off, doing my weight training and following the SB plan - so I will win this - my body is just going to have to realize that!

I don't have time to post a bunch - but I do want to say FROGGIE thanks for posting the pics!! They turned out well. I really like the one of Deb and Eli. You and Bill look smashing in your beach attire! I do love the pic of you and Deb after the race with your MEDAL!! I think that's one 'must have' for my motivational wall!

I'll check in later tonight to do the 'personal' postings.

UGH- back up 2 pounds. It's TOM so I'm not too worried, and I think the BFL has actually STOPPED my weightloss for a while. I've got biceps like Popeye after the spinach, but still have a belly. Seems all the fat is sliding there. How very attractive. Sure hope this is not my body for life:lol:

Morning All:^:

Well, I struggled with myself about getting on the scale this morning-I KNEW it would be bad news and that I should stay off of it-but noooooo, I just had to be a glutton (and I mean that literally) for punishment and get on. What a dismal and pathetic site I saw-126.5! I haven't weighed this much since SEPTEMBER! I'm up 8.5lbs from my lowest weight, 6.5lbs from last WIW last week, and 3lbs from just yesterday!

With all that in mind and knowing what I've been overduing with lately and not doing enough of lately (drinking water) and having my body seemingly not doing what it normal does I'm not totally freaking out (just a mild case of the freaks). Even though I know I haven't cheated, I've eaten too much food in general on some days, but others, have totally been on track-so I know there's not a chance in **** that I've eaten MORE than I have to warrant such big gains. For each pound I've gained I'd of had to eaten 3500 calories in EXCESS of what I normally would-just hasn't happened. I haven't been drinking my water-something that I could easily fix, just have to apply it (BTW, drinking water as I type!). I've been exercising, can't do much more than I am already (nor do I want to do more at this time). ANYHOW, as I have always been in the past, I'm going to go on as the old usual me has and just be patient, as I KNOW the scale will go back down. I'm going to have to forego the SB LEGAL GOODIES (like the carob cake I made and ate all by myself!), at least for a while. Need to journal EVERY DAY, that always seems to help!

Well, with that above dismal report, I truly hope you all have better results that I have had today!!!

Got in my jog, did 3.5 miles as I have an appt. at Michael's school at 9am-and with that said, I'm going to exit this post for now. I'll be back on later this morning to reply to all!

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO CAME OUT FOR CHAT LAST NIGHT!!! It was a hoot!!!!!!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Hope you are all well and that the scales are mucho cooperative to everybody. I am going to the dr for the yearly “invasion” on Friday. So I will weigh then. I am not expecting any good news on the weight, because I feel so puffy and fat. My clothes do not feel one bit looser. No shock there because I have been totally inconsistent with my TM work. I just wonder what is going to get me off my butt and moving on a consistent basis.

Hey, I just have to say a couple of things this morning. One is this . . . I absolutely cannot believe how many great people we have on this board. Yes, I knew it for a long time, but I guess I was just reminded of it with KAREN’S post to ROSALIE. I pictured this woman scanning an article and taking down some notes for a person she has never met face to face. It truly is wonderful how we hold each other dear to our hearts throughout the day. I am loving that!!! WTG KAREN. You are so thoughtful. And ROSALIE, I’m so excited about your upcoming vacation and the Orlando get-together chapter 2. How GREAT a time you will have. I’ll be waving as you pass by me. Glad the jury duty isn’t going to mess you up.

DARAMUS---Don’t feel bad about falling behind on the board. It happens with most of us. I love to answer everyone, but that takes up the majority of my evenings. And sometimes I can’t spend that much time. The key is to stick with us. Even if you are having “off” eating days. Actually that’s the MOST important time to be with us. But you already know that I’m sure. Congrats on the 4 pounds. You musting have been “pounding” the coffee. (ELI would be proud of you!) All those extra liquids.

Wow, the chat was really rolling last night. I have never been on there when it was that busy. I know this will be hard to believe, but I could barely get a word in. My screen was rolling so quickly, all I could do was read. It was fun. And I hope some of the visitors enjoyed it and will join us here on the board.

SOL---Hey, I love your enthusiasm. You are so great. Sorry about the upness on the scale. I don’t know why it’s saying that because from the pictures Frog posted, you are looking so thin. I said it last night on chat and I will tell you to your face . . . Girl, you look like you are melting away. Seriously, I’m not just saying that. Just go back and compare the picks when you all got together that first time and now. There’s a huge difference and that was way less than a year ago. Hang in there! You can do it.

DEB---You know those three pounds from yesterday will probably come off with a good Dookie Houser effort. I’m sorry you looked today, but you will be down in a couple of weeks. Your willpower is the strongest of anyone I have ever known. I’m sending good thoughts your way and hoping that you will see a success next Wednesday.

Well, that’s about it for me. I have to tell you that I’ve been making wonderful salads for my lunch. I have all sorts of greens and spinach and then the usual vegetable fare. Also adding some walnuts for a crunch. And using cottage cheese and lots of spices instead of salad dressing. Salad dressing seems like such a waste to me. It’s only a flavor and gives you nothing else good. So I sprinkle on some Lawry’s and some Mrs. Dash and some cracked pepper. And when it’s time to eat, I stir in the cottage cheese so it’s coating my entire salad. Oh, it’s too good. DEB, I saw that they have unsweetened dried cranberries. Do you think they would be considered legal? I do so love those craisin thingys.

Oh, one more thing: I've been making a thermos of herbal tea and bringing it to work. I sip on it all day long and it really adds to my liquid intake. I just got a new one called Honey Vanilla Chamomile from Celestial Seasonings. It has 0 sugars in it so I guess the honey is only a flavor. It's so good and it smells so delish. Are there any other herbal tea lovers on this board? I switch between herbal and green and I think it's helping me feel better.

Sorry I missed so many of you. I need to head out that door for work.

Take care everybody. I won’t be home until late tonight, so I may not get a chance to post.

Just checkin' in for WIW.....

Maintained from last week. Thought for sure I'd see a gain. Last night I was bloated and felt bigger. I was really hungry last night and ate a lot -at least it was legal :)

The BFL exercising is going well. Had to buy more weights yesterday! They were for DH tho.

Gator - if you haven't been doctoring for that shoulder don't let it go too long! Mine seems a tad bit better, but nothing to get excited about. At least driving wasn't as painful. Since I can't get into PT until 3/1, I'll have to try some exercises on my own that the doctor gave me, but I want to wait until the pain lessens.

Thanks for all the pics!!!! It's really fun to see if the images we create from reading about people match the actual person.

Gotta go - I'm at work and should be working!

That blue face is because I'm so cold! It is in the mid-thirties here in Auburn, but woke up about 5:30 this morning with the fan to my heat pump making an awful racket! It had been raining all night--some of it freezing and the outside unit had frozen over. So no heat since 5:30. It's not too bad--I have a little ceramic heater that can knock the chill off whatever room I'm in, but if I have to go elsewhere in the house--Brrrrr!

This is my first post for the week. I'm still getting over my cold--for several days there I was pretty miserable. That's starting to subside, but now with no heat, I'm hoping I don't relapse. So I'm just waiting for the heat pump man to show up!

In my misery, I succombed big time to the "poor little me"" syndrome. I'm not getting on the scale for at least a week! I've got to let this work out of my system--AGAIN!

I am going to make strict SB adhearance my Lent observance this year. Some of you may remember that it really helped me last year. For those of you that observe Lent, Ash Wednesday is the 16th--one week from today!

OK--got to go. Sorry I can't speak to everyone, but as it happens when you are away from the board for a few days it really overwhelms you!

Well, WIW is not too bad. I'm down a pound, which I'm very happy about since not only did I fall off the wagon this weekend, it then ran me over.

It's really my own fault.... I belong to a sorority and we had a "Super Bowl Slumber Party" on Saturday night and I know that I did not adhere to my new WOE and then on Sunday did it again.... so I've actually gained 2lbs back to be 213... phewy!

I found at my grocery store frozen veggies! I bought so many that my freezer is overflowing! I even brought some to work with me today and heated it up along with a chicken breast and just ate. Now I'm full! And I've already drank over 60oz of water this morning.... living in the restroom :D.

Hi everybody from snowy East TX!:D This is really strange weather for us. We didn't have to miss a school day tho, we just started late. Anyway, WIW is not too bad. I didn't lose any, but didn't gain either. I need to be more committed to better eating. No major sins, just too many nibbles.

DEB: Thanks for the applesauce info. I'll have to give it a try. I'm always looking for ways to cut fat grams from recipes. Sorry the scales were not kind to you, but I know you'll get rid of those pounds in no time.

DARAMUS: WTG on the 4 pounds. That's great!:)

ROSALIE: Glad your jury duty situation is resolved.

I'll try to post a picture of our beautiful snow.
Well, it won't let me post the picture. Says it's too big. :?: Any help out there???

Posted this morning and accidentally closed the window before I hit "submit."

Well, I have GOOD NEWS to report on the SCALE!!! I am down to 147.8!!!!! :spin:

As part of my BFL I will also report my body fat percentage! My BF% = 29.2 as of this WIW. My BMI is now 23.9. If you would like to calculate your BMI you can do so with the BMI Calculator (http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/). When joining this board my BMI was 30.7 and was 32.3 when starting SB.

Will post more later.

Good luck to everyone who hasn't weighed yet, congrats to the losers and "hang-in-theres" to the people not happy with their results!

Well, it has been a totally out of control day for me, my boss brought donuts and I've had 2! I miss partnering with Nancy and hope that a friend of mine will commit to coming on board with SB. A year ago when I started this program I was totally on target, so proud of the fact that I didn't cheat, then little by little, I started cheating and now I am struggling to get back the mentality I had a year ago. I think it was GatorGal who said she was challenged like this too. I'm starting allow myself excuses, something I use to get all over Nancy for. But now I find that I'm saying things like, "I'll eat this today and then be good for a couple days and it will come back off." I'm up and down and so are my mood swings, especially now that TOM is visiting. I noticed Deb that you are struggling too, although with 100% SF foods. There are a number of us who have either reached goal or are within 10 lbs of goal. What types of things are you doing to stay on track? I was never good at food journaling, as I would rather spend what little time I have with all of you. I feel commited to telling you all if I've been bad or good. The feedback of that seems to help me more, but maybe there is a simplified method of food journaling, all I know about it is that you have to count calories, carbs, protiens, fats, etc. This is where it became time consuming for me.

As I'm without my notes, I'm trying to remember things about all of your posts.

1. Welcome to all you newbies. This is a terrific group of people, who share in the desire to get fit and healthy for life. We all have our struggles, but each of us is here to make a change in our lives for the better. Please feel free to ask anything you like...the only question that is a stupid question is the one that isn't asked.

2. Just so you know, my Monday Morning Motivations, are not of my own creation, but borrowed from the motivationals I receive in my email each day.

3. Good side dishes: beans, vegetables, sweet potato dishes.

I know I didn't hit on everyone's ideas and comments. I'll be back with more tonight or tomorrow. If my concerns hit home with any of you, please shoot some ideas my way. With Lent coming up, I not only want to make a commitment to improving my life spirtually, but also I would like to become more focused on finding my inner strength and overcome the little voice that says "it's ok, have a doughnut, tomorrow is another day."

Until next time...

Lara

HiedieHo All!!!

Did you think I got lost? No-No-No! Just waylaid.

Monday I had doctor appointment gained 4#!!!! Wanted to scream. Know it is my fault, have had a tough time ever since the holidays.

Doctor thought I was going to live so don't have to worry now until May. Of course, he ordered more blood wiork as a follow-up to hospital stay. Between him and the neurologist you don't have to worry about me being attacked by vampires. I don't have any blood left so they wouldn't be interested in me!

Nowadays doctors don't doctor, they specialize! I have a little irritating rough spot on my eyelid, asked doctor to look at it and he did from six feet away and said specialist, so I have to see dermatologist!

Today is a miserable dank rainy dreary miserable (did I say that?) not nice at all kind of day. But here as I sit in front of my trusty (sometimes) computer I find warmth and sunshine!!

Will try to comment on some posts

BETH - I always try to cook extra for supper to use for lunches. I also make four bean salad with some onion and a vinegar dressing as well as pepper slaw (shredded cabbage and green peppers) with vinegar dressing. I know it's old wives tale but vinegar is supposed to be a help in your food plan. Are you afraid of carbs? We don't have to do without them. I really like the ww pasta, brown rice and ww bread products.

HAMSM - Unlike Deb I count two slices of NO as one serving and have been doing okay. I don't eat bread every day.

DEB - The ladies loved the Buckle. The night before I made a blueberry and a strawberry. I was going to get frozen berries but WD had fresh. Fortunately I also made a strawberry one for family. We tasted it and it was rather blah. The strawberries were at fault, dear, not your recipe, they just weren't very flavorful. The next morning I quickly made a dump cake with some canned NSA cherry pie filling. Everyone wanted a taste of the blueberry and then a whole piece so you were a hit!!! I served a dab of Lite Cool Whip on it.

Did you see the Today show this morning? A dietician was on and said that people don't realize that most veggies have carbrohydrates in them, so if they skip a bread or potato they are still getting carbs which is good.

You should have that searing pain looked into. Any pain that can be described as searing is not a good pain!! You have have abdominal surgery and could be from that ( maybe scar tissue) or something else. Please have the doctor check it for you, we don't want you suffering from that kind of pain!!!

MELF - You are wise to get things settled with your mom before things worsen. I was a Notary Public in Milford and in my job at the NH I worked with Social Services (in the old days they didn't have an MSW on full time staff, just a consultant was all that was required, it was up to me to do the job).

I have seen many problems among families as a result of things not being spelled out ahead of time. Also, even with only one relative there can be problems if things are not in order before hand. I hope you and your siblings get on well together. Often, the work falls all on one, so am glad to see you and sister are doing things together.

TV - I use Toufayan pitas too. They are good. They are other ww pitas out there but all that I have seen contain honey. I still want to try making the tortillas. The only legal ones I saw at a HFS were $5 + tx for 8.

Good of one to think of Mom's beau's family too. They are probably having a hard time too.

I went through similiar with my father. My sister was extremely upset, brother didn't seem to mind. Today's life span is much longer and I felt why should he have to spend the next 20 or 30 years alone? It doesn't mean that they loved their mates any less, in fact probably all the more. There is a companionship that comes from the opposite sex that doesn't come from your children and I don't mean sexual.

In my gray haired life I have seen children resentful of friendships or special interests parents have. A friendship may intensify because now the widow(er) has more time to devote to a friendship or interest than before.

I know it's hard for you, but relax a little. You'll both feel better for it! Sorry, I know....MYOB.

GATOR - Sorry about your shoulder. OUCH! 2 months before appointment. As I said every one specializes, I know it took me 6 weeks to see neurologist. Use heating pad if you can it may bring relief.

CAT - I'll sit on your shoulder if you'll sit on mine. I gained too and need a little extra push!! We won't sit on Gator's and Karen's shoulders.

POOH - Welcome. Don't feel you are giving up pasta etc. I really have grown to like the ww pasta (It does need a little salt in the water for flavor) and I always did like brown rice. I wish some of the wild rice mixtures were legal.

KAREN - Hope your shoulder gets better soon too.

QUILT - How nice of you and Paul to take on the picture project for your niece. That is wonderful caring thing to do.

ROSALIE - Glad your jury duty could be postponed. I am so looking forward to the Olympics, I love to watch them and not just the skaters. I am glued to the TV for the three weeks they're on!! I know, I should get a life!!

FROG - Wonderful pics, thanx for posting them so we can all see what a great time you all had!

MEL - God Bless You!!! I know all that cooking is work but it is fun too. At least you can plan for it.

One time when I was first married my Dad was a Boy Scout leader and he took his troop canoeing on the Delaware. An uexpected rain storm came up and he called us from Delaware Water Gap to come rescue them. So dh and a couple of friemds took their cars and drove down to get them. No 24 hour stores then, I had four chickens in the freezer and made them feed about 30 wet and cold people! They camped out in our garage!

FILLISE - Did you see my description of the weather here today at the start of this post. Keep warm!!!

Well better stop and eat supper. I have a Habitat meeting tonight.

Take care all, Shirley

hi everyone,

enjoyed chat once i got there, i do not know what is the matter with my computer, lately it is sooooooooo slow! the chat moved very quickly, i didn't know whether to type or read! i was starting to spaz when i could not get on, i guess i am addicted to tuesday nite chat! lol!

weight wise on my new scale i lost 1 pound this week once i determined it was accurate and to be honest i only weighed today. i really hate seeing the metal monster but having it in my kitchen tends to keep me honest.

we had a baby shower at work today for 2 new dads-to-be! it was pretty funny watching them open all these things and asking what is this for and how do you get these on etc! oh to be young and being in that new parent to be mode! stuff sure has changed over the better over the years. we had tons to eat and again triscuits and cheese, cut up vegies and legal spinach dip were my lifesavers. it is a little easier not putting the other stuff on my plate, finally!

i made the zucchini loaf again and this time used applesauce instead of the oil, it turned out wonderful! i slice it in individual slices and freeze them then take out one to take to work for my morning coffee. great and easy recipe! thanks Deb!

need to go and fix daughter sarah some soup and comfort foods, she has the cough, cold yucky stuff, picked her up early from school and hit the pediatricians office where i felt i was in a bronchitis factory, lots of sick kids, i think it is the weather changing back and forth, i wish it would stay cool for awhile down here.

i have a big challenge coming up this saturday(provided daughter feels better) my son has the annual football banquet at the university of central florida, he may be getting an award! eating legal may be a problem, i will have to smuggle triscuits in my purse!

looking forward to seeing everyone in march in orlando. i will be there, need to iron out details with the big guys spring break. sounds as if zsu will not be able to travel. rosalie , let me know if you need me to get you a case of agave, i just ordered another case of 12 8oz. bottles, hope i still get the $2.09 per bottle price.

take care all, welcome to the new folks, stay focused, THIS WORKS!

Hey All:wave:

ARG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so pissed!!! I started the post below this morning and then started up with posting to everyone and my computer locked up and I lost every individual reply!!!!!!!!!! UGHHHHHHHHH! I hate my computer!! I'm going to try my best to finish my general post-but I don't have time to reply to everyone indivdually now-it's late and Michael needs the computer back for homework-so I'll try to play catch-up tomorrow:^:

Had our meeting with the head of the IB PROGRAM at Michael's school today. I think if my Mother would of been there, she'd been in tears, from pride. I know Michael is smart, but how smart, really didn't know. BUT, after hearing what the Dept. Head said about him, I'm surprised I contained myself. The glowing report blew me away! I'm so proud of this kid!!!:spin: She showed me his FCAT scores from 8th grade (didn't ever see these) and out of 824 questions on the reading comprehension test-Michael got every single one of those 824 questions right! He was in the 99% of everything (can't get 100%). She said she never had a kid do all the science courses in such a short period of time either-thank goodness he loves science. His unweighted GPA (whatever unweighted means) is 5.036 and his weighted GPA is 4.0 (any teachers care to explain this to me-didn't want to ask her and look stupid-esp. with Michael sitting there!). Anyhow, I don't mean to boast (okay, maybe a tad), but I was just sooo proud to hear this and other things I didn't mention!

I feel like I'm back on track today. I've already drank 1.5 liters of water-and running to the potty in the interm. Journaling everything as well. I honestly don't feel as bloated as I did yesterday and when I went for my walk, the fanny pack I wear was less tight than it was yesterday-so here's hoping it's just some hormonal inbalance that's made me gain this mystery weight.

I want those of you who are newbies to realize that I don't post my gains as a discouragement to anyone, but quite the opposite. I want you all to know, even in the best circumstances of staying OP and doing everything correctly, that you will have weeks that you will gain weight and not have a clue why. I've had many times that I've had gains and was 100% OP, exercising, journaling, etc-no reason to see a gain, but low-and-behold, a gain I had. In the past on my failed attempts at dieting, I'd of seen a gain like that and got so discouraged and distraught, only to throw in the towel and go hog wild with food, gaining back what weight, if any, I lost, and always more. With being on SB, I learned to be patient, that my body, and everyone's body, goes through fluctuations and it's imminent this will happen with 99% of the people. Just know that if you are patient, and conitue on the right track, the scale WILL & DOES GO DOWN! So, when I post these gains of mine, it's just to share with you all that I too have these days and I won't go off plan, yet stay OP and be patient and I will be rewarded:)

Did anyone see OPRAH today. The show was about menopause and she was talking about the book and that she was following a LOW GLYCEMIC DIET! Geez, seems like people are just finding out about this WOE-wonder what's taken them so long!!!

BETH, I get like that too, a raving lunatic with the food, like yesterday. Try to increase your protein and find slow-releasing low GI carbs, like beans. Things like triscuits, cheese, nuts, etc. aren't filling in the first place, so when you are like that, it doesn't make a dent in filling you up. Just try your best and stay SB LEGAL-it passes. I'm back to normal today!:D

MEL, do you think we could schedule to meet up on the Monday you'll be here, March 25th, at least for lunch at Ole Ole and a trip for Carbolite?? LMK as I have to volunteer one day that week and all the slots are being taken up quickly. I have to make it one of the first 3 days of the week-check with the troops and get the a-okay!

DARASMUS, thanks for posting your pic on the PHOTO ALBUM BOARD-always nice to put a name and face together. Now that I've seen your mug shot-have to ask-what's your background? You don't look like the typical all American boy.;) CONGRATS on a 4lb loss!!!

ROSALIE, glad to hear you got everything worked out for jury duty. LMK as soon as you can if you need me to get the agave-hoping they can still get the one I ordered-wish I could find out how stock on it was and it's future availability! Just read BIGK'S post-would be cheaper if she got it for you, so maybe you'd like to get it from her??

SOL, hey, I KNOW you are gaining muscle-just be patient, the fat is going to slide off soon! You and VINCE look wonderful in the pic FROG posted-hers came out so good compared to mine-a photographer I'm not!

QUILTER, have to find a salad recipe I think you'll like. Dried cranberries are fine, as long as they don't have sugar of course, but most do, so double check!

POOH, as long as you get back on track there shouldn't be much damage. You have to devise a way to attend these social events and be able to stay on-track. Any ideas how you can avoid a break down? We have some good tips during the holidays that can apply now, they are on one of the informational boards-have to see which one.

FROG, WOO HOO! CONGRATS!! AWESOME NEWS!!! Girl, your BMI is lower than mine now!

SHEANN, CONGRATS on holding down that 2lbs loss!!

BUSDEB, CONGRATS on your 1lb loss!!!

HAPPY, CONGRATS to you too, 2lbs is wonderful!!!!

BOB!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!! 5lbs-WTG!!! WOO HOO!! YOU DESERVE A STARBUCKS COUPON!!!!!!!!!!

SEF, glad to hear the BB was a hit, though not the SB, I heard how strawberries to bake with aren't the best as they are usually not that sweet. Thanks for you input on the pain-it's gone now, but if I find it comes back, will def. have it checked out. Sorry to hear the scale didn't have better news for you at the Dr.-but heck, you can turn that around next time!

BIGK, CONGRATS on the pound loss this week:) Glad to hear you used applesauce in the zucchini loaf cake. No oil at all? How much applesauce??? Will HAVE to try it like that!

Sorry if I didn't get to post to you individually at this time-have to get off of here-I think Michael fell asleep waiting for me to finish.

Please remember, TOMORROW IS RECIPE DAY so if you have any good SB LEGAL RECIPES you'd like to share with the board, please, try to post them tomorrow!

NITE!

Thanks for all the support everyone. :) After school today I had my dentist appointment since my new crown arrived. I've never had any major work like this before so it is all new to me. It went well all things considered, but I went a while without food since my face was numb! lol

Debelli - I am Greek/German, but mainly raised as being Greek (church, language, music, family, etc.) I have relatives in Greece that I talk to online since it's so darn expensive to call. :) I saw birthdays mentioned at the start of the thread, and you can add my name to the list of February bdays. I'll be 28 tomorrow, 2/7/02

Anyway, this is me at ~200 pounds. A good reminder of the progress I've made!

Hello to all,

First of all.... Happy Birthday to Daramus, a little early. Hope that you have a wonderful day.

I am glad to hear that there asre so many poeple losing the weight that we are so hard in trying to get off. I don't have much to say about that this week, but hopefully nest week will be better.

Deb.....be so proud of you son. And feel free to boast, that is truely a blessing, especially when your child can put it all together and do so well. We all wish deep down that our children will be so smart, but not everyone can be. COngratulations!!!!

I really want to post, but I am here starting to fall asleep and I have to be up at 4:15 am to take my brother to Tampa airport before work. It's about 1:45 minute trip one way. I need to get some sleep. i will be here tomorrow, have a great day.

Oh, I forgot to say, that it does look like I will be able to get some time off for the weekend of the 8th of March, so I will get to Orlando and get to meet some of you. I am just not sure how much time, will keep you all posted. i am really looking forward to it.

See ya, Laurie

Deb- I will be flying in Monday 3/25 and won't get in until 3:30. If you could swing Tuesday or Wednesday, that would be best, since I leave on Thursday at around 3:00pm. Too short a trip! I'll have a car, if that makes it any easier. Just give me two points on mapquest and I can get anywhere! I really hope you can do Tues or Wed, I'd really love to meet you "in the real"!

Thanks for the encouragement about gains and losses- I know I'm not a newbie, but I sure do over-react to it. I know I'm building muscle cause I can see it ( I'm one of those few women either blessed or cursed with the ability to build big muscle quickly ) but I haven't weaned myself off the scale, since I still have plenty of fat to lose.

Hello everyone else!

It's late Wednesday night and my eyes are burning and I'm only on page 3 of this week's posts! Just wanted to check in and say hey before I hit the hay.

We had the most beautiful snowfall yesterday that I've seen since I left Northwest Arkansas in '86. We had big, fat, fluffy flakes fall all day long. And the roads were warm enough to keep it from being treacherous. Kids were having a ball throwing snowballs at each other and building snowmen all over town. We had to go to school today and it's melting fast, but what a sight this morning! I took pictures and will post a couple. This is a real big thing in North Central Texas. We probably had about 3 or 4 inches in the open areas. Under trees, there was very little.

I was up 1 pound to 167 this morning, but know that TOM is just around the corner. My pants are getting too long:lol: so I know I'm losing around the thunder thighs. And I've spent 30 minutes on the bike more days than not in the past week. Like others say, I think I can only do a few minutes but am able to hang on for the full workout after I get warmed up. Didn't tonight 'cause Wednesday nights are church choir nights and I'm up there from 5:00 til 8:30 and I'm too pooped when I get home.

Don't have time to respond to folks but I do want to welcome the newbies. You'll love this place.

I'll respond when I get through the rest of the posts. Have a good one tomorrow.

Take care,
Jeanie

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARAMUS!!!!! Hope it's the best birthday EVER for you. Be sure to tell us about your presents and the way you didn't eat any birthday cake. Ha! Gotcha!!! Seriously, enjoy the day. I'm sending good birthday thoughts your way.

Okay, I have to agree with BKM. She said today's Mary Englebreit is her favorite and she's right. It says: Live Regally! And the caption on the picture says "It's good to be QUEEN." Let's treat ourselves like queens (or kings, Birthday Boy!). Because that's what we are!!!

Sorry I didn't get on last night. Had to go immediately from work to a surprise retirement party that was clean on the other side of town. (Eastgate, BKM, what a drive for me!) It was fun and it did end up being a total surprise for the woman who's retiring. So cool for her. She's a wonderful person and has given so much for the cause of literacy over the years. Anyways, it was a potluck, so I had no idea about the food. There was a lot of pasta (guess that carries well!). But they did have this one dish that was great and I think it would be sugar buster legal. It was called a Baked Reuben Casserole. The woman who made it didn't give me specifics but told me the layers and I think you could doctor it the way you wanted.

Baked Reuben Casserole in a 9x13 pan:
Drained and rinsed sauerkraut
Sliced cornbeef that's been julienned
just a touch of 1000 island dressing (would have to find without sugar, or course)
grated swiss cheese
dark rye bread crumbs (you could use whatever bread you had)
dollopped butter on the top
Bake at 425 for 30 minutes. I would be careful of that temp and time because that seems awfully high to me.
It was really yummy . . . if you are a sauerkraut fan.

Gotta fly! Still in my robe and that means I'm off schedule this morning. Ooops.

Take care everybody.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARAMUS!!!!!!

Let it be known that SolShine predicts LOTS of single wimmen will begin posting on our thread after seeing Daramus' picture on the picture board! ;)

Let it also be known that now that I am officially addicted to trying recipes that do not include traditional Southern 'meat and potatoes' or Cajun fare.....I expect to learn some Greek recipes from you!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Hope it's a good one, just remeber NO cake:nono: and bo baklava:( . Unless it's made with agave:D

It's snowing here too, big fluffy flakes that will probably turn into rain in a hour, but prettu while they last.

Wecome Andamay- Glad you found us in the right year. I'm not sure any of us would have found you on the Feb 2001 board. You seem to have figured out how to post just fine. How are you doing on SB? Just feel free to ask questions, someone around here always has an answer or an opinion.

SOL- What, no countdown today? That's my norning chuckle!

Deb- How lucky you are to have the schools you do. I have 1 kid like Michael (got 790 and 800 on the SAT's) but although our schools are good and she had plenty of ap courses to choose from, I don't think she was as challenged academically as she could have been. Luckily her life was also consumed by sports and music (piano and flute) so there were other avenues for her to explore. She's a sophmore in college now, and is having to learn to study for the first time. The danger for these kids is that everything is always too easy until one day they hit that wall. I'm not saying she didn't work in high school, but she never REALLY had to bend her brain to hard. Luckily, she's rising to the occaision in university rather than saying "oh, I'll find and easier major than chem and math!. My son, on the other hand, is probably just as bright, but doesn't like to try too hard. Hopefully that will change, he's only in 5th grade.

gotta run,
mel

Good Thursday Morning!

Just got in from my jog/walk. I woke up with that "I DUN WANNA" attitude-didn't feel like going, but out I went and got those 4.5 miles in-no great times, felt slow, but at least I went!

I forgot to mention yesterday to you the reason you see the old recipe boards and informational boards being brought to the front. I saw a post by SUZANNE that mentioned that they were doing something with the server in the near future and wanted to remove some older threads. So, I sorta panicked and wanted to move our most important threads closer to the top. I e-mailed some from the board to help me push these up nearer to the top, so that's the results of what you see. I am going to work on getting the recipe boards for the year 2001 put into 4 quarterly boards when I get a chance, will make it much easier to keep these towards the top. With the maximum boards you can currently view being at 15 to a page, you will have to go to page 2 to see other current boards. I wrote to SUZANNE to ask her if there's a way we can get it back to view more than 15 boards on one page at a time-awaiting a reply.

I had a great day with my eating yesterday. Journaled EVERYTHING that I ate and stayed totally within my ranges. I'm going to post my food intake on the FOOD FOR THOUGHT BOARD after I get this done. Also did well with my water intake. Fiber, oh my gosh, I had 49.5 grams!!!!!!!!!! Shouldn't have any Dookie Houser problems here!

Went to WILD OATS yesterday and bought a bread I've seen before, but never really "looked" at. From the same company who made the rye bread I bought the other day. It's called JOGGING POWER and it's delicious-packs a whopping 6 grams of fiber in a slice.

Back to our heat-wave again. Was in the 70's when I went out this morning, suppose to get into the 80's today. Not going to cool off again until Monday!

DARAMUS, once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!Any big plans on how you're going to celebrate? Another one of our abbreviations, ME=Middle Eastern, LMK=Let Me Know. I'm sure there's a few more, just LMK when you see one you don't quite figure out;) Greek was my first guess, than would of been Italian or ME. Hey, you know those calling cards are really cheap if you ever want to actually "talk" to your family in Greece. We call Lebanon and speak to Eli's family for about 40 minutes on a $5 card.

LDBLOND, I know you are not alone in your feelings of not being able to get back on track. I know how you feel due to the same problems I've had in the past. Once I was on a diet and cheated, there was no turning back for me then-I couldn't get back in the drivers seat, so I'd end up gaining all the weight I lost PLUS. Not until SB did I recognize that this was a BIGproblem for me, which is one of the reasons I won't, or should I say can't cheat. The great thing is, I don't want to cheat-so I think in this respect, I've come a long way. I truly believe that if you can stay OP 100% for at least 3 full days in a row, you can be well on your way-okay, that's what works for me, maybe it's 5 days for you, maybe 7, but getting past 3 days for me seems to have always been the make-it-or-break-it point. I think what keeps me on track is the fear of what going off will do. And, once again, I just don't feel the need or desire to cheat-what could I want so badly? I truly feel I'm not missing a thing! If I can have SB LEGAL CHOCOLATE, SB LEGAL DESSERTS and the like, what do I need to cheat for, or with? I guess it still comes down to what I always say, which do you want worse, the doughnut or the weight loss? Don't beat yourself up about this, you are still conscience of what you want, and you are here with us, you have the desire to get back on track, now you just have to tell yourself that and believe it!!! As for journaling, it's not for everyone, but to take 1 day a week out and do it may prove to be very beneficial. It really is easier than you think:)

FROG, I remember that old picture! You've come a long way babyyyy! Honestly, the pictures from O-town, you look heavier in the pics than you do in person-you are much smaller than you appear on film. Any new word on the beach house date???

LAMAP, thanks for the kind words about Michael-he takes after my side of the family!;) Thrilled that you will be able to join us in O-town. FINALLY, we get to meet! Even if just for the one day, that would be great-anything is better than nothingl! Would love for you to be able to stay over if possible!

MEL, lets plan on doing lunch on WEDNESDAY. Did you ask your brother how far he is from BROWARD MALL? That's right across the street from Ole Ole-a definite MUST! Hey, we can hit the bra place right next door if you need any good over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders! Umm, I do have a legal BAKALAVA recipe!!!!!! I can understand what you say about the kids and school. Many of Michael's friends who were in the gifted classes with him decided they didn't want to be in those types of classes anymore and just took the easier way out and took regular classes-Michael would of been bored to tears-thank goodness he's using the brain God gave him. Oye, such things we'll have to discuss over lunch!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANDAMAY, WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!!!! Glad you've decided to join us-the Texas gals will be happy to see you on the boards as well! Please let us know a little more about yourself when you get a chance-we have a BIO BOARD you can post your bio on when/if you want. Don't be afraid to ask us any questions, we're more than happy to help!! Congrats on chosing a really healthy WOE (way of eating)! Again, WELCOME!!!:D

JRED, I had to laugh with your pants getting too long! I've never read anyone posting that that's how they know they are loosing weight! LOL!! Glad you aren't worrying about that 1lb gain and realizing it's just from TOM:)

QUILTER, sounds like you had a nice time at the retirement party, dish sounds good, though I'm not sure about the sauerkraut:eek:

SOL, maybe DARAMUS can give us some great SB LEGAL GREEK RECIPES that we can add to our ME ones!!! Hey, how's Meister doing???

Whew! I'm caught up, it seems! Have to go jump in the shower, Mom is coming over in an hour to shmize around with me.

I'll get a few more recipes posted later on!! Did post one for PECAN PIE

Have a wonderful day!

Sunny and above norm temps here again!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARAMUS Hope you have a GREAT day!

WELCOME to all the newbies! This is a wonderful place

QUILTER That casserole recipe sounds wonderful. I like sauerkraut! Sometimes I'll heat some up for a snack!

DEBELLI Congrats to Michael! Feel free to boast anytime. It's always nice to hear great things.

Yesterday was DH's b-day! I knew I would have cake. But there's only 3 of us and there would have been 3/4 of a cake left after dessert. So instead, I bought cupcakes! The leftovers I sent with DH to work. I know I shouldn't have had it, but I knew I wouldn't stop myself, so I figured one cupcake was better than 3/4 of a cake! Lesser of 2 evils:devil: Otherwise I had a great OP day.

I was just wondering, WHO ALL ON THIS THREAD IS DOING BFL??? If I remember correctly, MEL, FROG, QUILTER and ME (well, I'm just doing the exercise part). Anyone else? (I'm adding this bit after originally posting )--CAT?? are you doing BFL and maybe not QUILTER?? Guess I need another coffee! Brain isn't functioning properly.

I think I've found an exercise routine I can stick with doing the BFL exercises. I'm getting braver with the weights. (I had only lifted weights a few times before this program.) I thought I was hitting 10's until last night when I really increased the weight! But it felt really good and my back only aches a little today. I think I was a little apprehensive about lifting a heavy weight, but now that I see the difference in the workout, I know that's what I have to do and I  it! It took me 3 starts on this exercise program but I guess 3rd time's a charm. I have been filling out the routine sheets (HA! ME journaling!) and I do find it a great help to plan the weights for the next session.

Enough boring everyone. Maybe we should have a SB/BFL thread:?:

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!

The pics from WDW are great! FROG-WOW!!! You've come a long way. You're an inspiration!

And DARAMUS great pic of you! It's always nice to put a face to a name.

I just was visiting this site. Haven't done so in a long time and it looks revamped. It helped me a lot when I first started SB and reading thru the site is what actually helped me decide to try SB WOE. I thought it might be helpful to the NEW MEMBERS of the board. There are recipes and suggestions for meals (something some of us are always looking for) and a bunch of other stuff. It's a great site.

Quilter: That recipie sounds really yummy. I will have to try it out.

Frog: Congratulations. You have come a long way and you look wonderful!

Zanne: Thanks for the site. I will have to see what I can find there. Congratulations on your BFL workouts. Sounds like you have found the right choice for you.

SolShine: Be sure and let us know how your walk went today. You are doing great with your WDW Marathon training.

jred: I loved your comment on your pants being too long and that's how you know you are losing weight. I'll be glad when mine start getting that way.

Well, I hope I haven't missed anyone. I'll be back later. Have a great day.

Constant Cravings By Ian Marber

Can food cravings reveal hidden health problems? Nutritionist Ian Marber explains what they mean and how to beat them.

Most of us are familiar with food cravings. What may start as a mild longing can become a potentially overwhelming craving that doesn't fade until it has been satisfied. But what are the causes of cravings? Is the body simply trying to correct some nutritional deficiency, or are there any other influences at work?

Mood Food

One of the most common cravings is for carbohydrates, especially sweet foods and chocolate. "I could do with a chocolate biscuit" is heard far more often than "I could murder some broccoli"!

One explanation is that this is the body's subconscious desire to improve mood. When eaten, carbohydrates aid the absorption of an amino acid called tryptophan into the brain. This is the precursor to serotonin, increased levels of which can help to ease anxiety. This biochemical reaction partially explains why cravings are often for sweeter foods, such as chocolate.

Many women who experience PMS crave sweet food, and the connection with mood is one possible explanation. Another is that chocolate contains magnesium which is often found to be depleted during menstruation.

Chocolate also contains numerous other mood-boosting substances in small amounts, especially caffeine and theobromine. One ingredient called phenylethylamine helps to lift depression and increase attention, so this could be linked to chocolate being seen as a comfort food.

With so much emphasis on keeping weight down, eating forbidden foods also has an element of rebellion, which can be subconsciously appealing for many people.

In the Blood

Craving sweet foods is also likely to be linked with blood glucose. Levels of glucose in the blood fluctuate constantly, and are influenced by what we eat. Some foods are quickly converted into glucose, especially simple carbohydrates such as white bread, pasta and rice, whilst complex carbohydrates like basmati rice, whole grains and beans tend to take longer to be broken down.

The theory is that when blood glucose levels are beginning to fall, the brain will sense potential crisis. As over 70 per cent of glucose is utilised by the brain, any perceived shortage will signal the need for new supplies - this is the blood sugar low that we recognise as hunger.

If this hunger is not met early on by eating something that will supply fuel, then the 'crisis' becomes more serious as time passes and the food we crave is likely to be one that will be broken down most rapidly. Sweet foods, such as confectionery, fit the bill perfectly.

The mineral chromium can be useful for people who crave sweet food. Chromium picolinate facilitates the entry of glucose into the cells, making the whole process more efficient, and reducing the likelihood that you will crave more sugar. Chromium picolinate intake should be limited to 200gr twice a day, usually taken after lunch and dinner. Don't take it without supervision if you are diabetic.

Caffeine Caution

Caffeine also affects blood glucose levels as it encourages the muscles and liver to release stored glucose. This can lead to a rollercoaster of highs and lows, worsened by refined sugar and caffeine. Having either often creates the craving for more in a couple of hours. Starting the day with two caffeine hits is likely to keep you wanting more as the day wears on, so limit coffee and tea to one a day, and switch to herbal teas instead.

A Variety of Needs

The craving for bread and alcohol is also common. This may mean that serotonin levels in the brain are depleted or, in some cases, indicates a proliferation of the yeast Candida albicans which thrives on fermented substances, such as alcohol and the yeasts found in most breads.

Sometimes it's not the bread but what comes with it that is being craved - such as jam or honey. Either way, it is always wise to consult your GP or a nutritionist to check your levels of yeast before undertaking any diet or supplementation programme.

Some vegetarians experience craving for meat. This could indicate a need for protein or minerals, especially irons. Increasing intake of protein alternatives such as a tofu might go some way to alleviating such cravings.

Those with food allergies or intolerances often crave the food that is causing them a problem. This is potentially linked to the release of adrenaline after eating the trigger food, which gives a short-lived boost.

Cut the cravings - but keep a healthy appetite for life…

Whatever the biochemical theories or nutritional deficiencies that may lie behind cravings, they are not at the forefront of our minds when we reach for biscuit tin. So how do we satisfy food cravings while sustaining a healthy eating routine?

Ensure that the majority of your usual food intake consists of lean protein, complex carbohydrates, fresh vegetables, fruit and some nuts and seeds.

If you do crave sweet food, then opt for fruit.

Substitute low-fat plain yoghurt for ice cream.

If you associate cravings with specific times or activities, such as watching a movie or meeting a friend, eat a little fruit just before, so you don't overeat.

Vary your food intake - variety is at the heart of good nutrition

Eat little and often, combining protein, fibre and carbohydrates.

Eat a small, nutritious snack before your regular hunger times usually strike.

A little of what you fancy does you good, so do not deny yourself the odd treat and the pleasure of eating the food you love. Just add moderation and serve immediately!

Few foods should be forbidden, just limited, as cutting out a favourite food can fuel further cravings.

The scent of vanilla encourages increases serotonin levels, which in turn reduces cravings for carbohydrates, according to researchers at St George's Hospital, south London. Researcher studied 200 overweight volunteers and gave one third a vanilla patch, one third a vanilla patch and the remaining third a placebo patch or no patch at all. The study showed that those people wearing the vanilla patch experienced significantly lowered cravings for sweet food, and lost weight over a month.

Health Check

Craving are normally harmless, but they can be an indicator of a more serious, underlying condition:

Alcohol:

Dehydratation
Candidiasis
Hypoglycaemia

Chocolate:

Blood glucose imbalances
Depression
Pre-menstrual syndrome/magnesium requirement

Coffee:

Adrenal insufficiency
Hypoglycaemia

Sugar:

Blood sugar imbalances
Candidiasis

If you frequently experience cravings, visit your GP.

Good morning! Today is shaping up to be a good one :) First and foremost I would like to thank everyone for all the kind birthday wishes! Today was good because for the first time in a LONG time I actually slept through the night. lol I wish I knew what I did differently to accomplish that so I could repeat it. I do have plenty of Greek recipes, only I don't know how SB legal they are. I imagine one could simply substitiute legal ingrediants for those that aren't part of WOE. I think my mother is going to make some Greek food for me tonight (stuffed grape leaves) so I am looking forward to dinner. I love grape leaves :) There are many versions of them but I think she will use ground beef, basmati, onions, and spices for the filling. Once the leaves are stuffed they are cooked in an egg/lemon sauce (yum!) and I am getting hungry just thinking about it lol  Thanks goodness my mother is going to cook because I anything BUT an adequate cook. Aside from dinner tonight I have no real plans. I plan to relax and take it easy... no school, errands, work, etc. I'll try and post a small note tonight telling you about dinner. Bye!

Happy Birthday Daramus .... just thinking about all the Greek food makes me salivate! Obvious favorites are Gyros and baclava (spelling?).... of course no-no's!!!

Yesterday and today seem to be doing better! I only ate legal foods all day and a ton of water! So far today I have drank 40 oz of water (it's only 11:30 now!!) and ate some green pepper strips and a small amount of cottage cheese. I'm floating around work today!

I find that if I can't find anything to eat I end up not eating. I did print out all the recipes for the last couple of months so I'm going to start going through them and get menu's planned. I really have found that I am having a hard time sticking to it. Motivation wise! And I do find lots of excuses to justify eating something... i.e. I'll just not eat anything bad for the next day or two.... Need to find a way to really motivate myself and get on the ball!

Thanks for all the welcome girls! I really enjoy reading everyone's posts.

Hi everyone

Just a quickie as I have to leave soon to do a few errands before going to work. I was pooped last night after working two shifts with short changeover and then playing badminton. I ended up sleeping in VERY late this morning. I didn't get to post for WIW but there isn't much change, back up to 195 from 194 1/2 last week. I have been eating more carbs lately, after cutting them down for a few weeks. Either way it doesn't seem to make any difference to the weight loss, or should I say lack of it. I'm just thankful that I'm not gaining. The one good thing is that I haven't gone much above 195 for the last couple of weeks, whereas before it it was fluctuating between 195-198. So I suppose that is a positive sign.

Deb - You should be very proud of Michael. I'm glad to hear he is doing so well. Nothing wrong with boasting.:)

Daramus - HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I am looking forward to seeing some Greek recipes. Glad to hear that you were finally able to get a good nights sleep. Hope you have many more of them.

BMK - I would like to take you up on the offer to get me a case of agave syrup. Even if I do get the one I ordered it won't hurt to have another case. And the price you are paying does sound very reasonable. Much cheaper than what I had been paying here.

Sorry I don't have time to 'chat' to you all. Gotta run.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DARAMUS!

And hello everyone else. It's warmed up a little here and the snow is beginning to melt. The kids are not happy.:( Personally, I'm ready for it to warm up. Been pretty much OP. Just trying to figure out a way to fit in the exercise.:dizzy:

ROSALIE: I know what you mean about being thankful that you're not gaining. That's the attitude I have to have now too.

POOHTATTOO: Hope you're near the potty.:o I'm lucky that my classroom is just across the hall.

DEB: Thanks for posting the article on cravings. Boy did that really hit home. Very interesting. And...don't worry one bit about boasting about Michael. You have earned that right as his mother.:smug:

ZANNE: WTG on the cupcakes. Great idea. Course I probably would have eaten more than one cupcake.

FROG: Thanks for posting the pictures. What a change!

ANDAMY: Wecome aboard! Another Texan--great!

JRED: I've noticed the same thing in reverse. I always noticed when I gained that my pants got shorter. :o I'm really surprised that we got more snow than y'all. It usually kind of plays out before it gets to us. We got about 5 inches.

Better run before class.

Well I've had a pretty good day. I haven't eaten everything in my path, so that's ok. TOM hasn't come yet... I can never remember exactly when it visits, and it's never regular anyway... so I'm guessing it's soon.

Today I had fruit for breakfast ( I was running late)
Had some leftover roast and green beans for lunch.
Had some sunflower seeds for a snack... I feel like someone who's quit smoking (I'm guessing, I never have smoked..LOL)...Gum and Sunflower seeds are my saving grace from stuffing my face with food!!

Yesterday I did better than the day before. And today is better than yesterday. I do notice that the more I get comfortable with this WOE, the more tempted I am to be less strict? Anyone else have that problem?? The first week I was GUN-HO to stay STRICTLY OP. Now I'm like... well.. I *could* just try a little of that... yadda yadda yadda. So far I haven't given in... (GO ME!!) But it's just weird to me that I'm trying to talk myself into stuff I know I shouldn't have.
DH says I'm grouchier now than I was before SB. (I say I'm not medicated with chocolate, so I'm finally sticking up for myself!!) But seriously, is there some correlation? And what can I do about it?

OK... anyway... I still don't have a scale, and my pants aren't any looser... but they aren't tighter either... so I"m probably stuck at the moment cause of TOM being close. Doesn't matter as long as I don't gain. I know it will come off eventually as long as I stay OP. :)

Have a good one everybody!! I'm off to disguise some chicken :)

BTW - I cooked that Creamy Chicken Pockets for the family the other night... THEY WERE A TOTAL HIT!!!!! Thanks a million BOB for that one! Even my picky 10 year old loved it!

It's the start of my weekend and boy am I glad! Am ready for some fun and relaxation.

Anyone else doing BFL discovering their face suddenly breaking out all over? YIKES! Wonder if it is protein increase, hormonal changes from increased activity... Any ideas? I look lik a 13 year old all of a sudden!

Had a busy morning at work. Had a difficult time with a case. Child is 3 1/2 years old but functioning like a 2 year old. Mom was closed off to listening to the report and Dad was seemingly invested in hearing the results. Usually it is the other way around. Anyway, matter gets more complicated by the fact that they won't enroll their children in public school (because of their religious beliefs) and this child may seriously struggle if not enrolled in a developmentally appropriate setting. We may even have trouble finding a daycare that meets parents religous standards in addition to the child's learning needs. I can't imagine being a parent and hearing this info, I can hardly beleive I am the person delivering it, but it even more complicated when the don't seem to quite get the full picture. Luckily they have some great professionals in their rural area that can assist them as the fog begins to lift. Like I said, ready for some fun!

DEB - Thanks for the comments about the pics. I thought I was smaller than the pics indicated but I have a skewed body image that I sometimes don't know what I really look like. I reach for pants that are way to big and way to little. It is something that I will have to work out as my body changes. Regarding the pics, I also know that I was really swollen in the days after that race and you can see it my face. My ankles were swollen for about 3 days. In the race pic at the end that they took of DH and I with our medals my face was very, very puffy! It didn't even really look like me, or like me after just having my wisdom teeth out! My current weight is probably my lowest or a pound from my lowest since starting SB. I haven't talked to Allison again about changing the beach dates, I harassed her to death for the ones I got. I will see her Monday if not before and I will ask her then. I don't know about adding Wednesday, but I doubt getting our Thursday added on will be a problem. Have you mentioned the dates to Suzanne? Right now, not including Suzanne but including Allison and her SIL the massage therapist we only have me, you, and Bob as "for sures." While I am happy that y'all are coming, I was hoping for more.

BKM - Good luck at the banquet!

SEF - My dad has a similar Boy Scout story but his involved a major cold front instead of rain. All of a sudden it got extremely cold in a matter of hours and they were in shorts and short-sleeved shirts. Luckily they were able to get packed out before anything major happened.

FILLISE - I have got to come up with something to give up for Lent! Year before last it was shopping and before that it was ice cream. For the life of me I can't remember what I did last year! Am wondering if I gave up anything! My memory!

ZANNE - I'm a BFLer. Did you see my note above about my skin and BFL? Are you drinking any of the supplements? Have you taken a body-fat measurement? MEL and I were discussing this issue via email. I am taking mine with the scales that measure it via impedence measures and hope that it is at least quasii-accurate.

DARAMUS - Happy Birthday! Your birthday dinner sounds spectacular! Sounds you got a great gift in a good night's sleep!

POOHTATTOO - Great to have a college coed on here to help me feel young! I act like I'm about that age! I think I'm 35 going on 25! What are you majoring in?

Well, time to go get ready for my 20 minute aerobic solution! Think I may hit the treadmill for a semi-real run or do the elliptical trainer, which I am acutally starting to enjoy using.

Have a good evening all!

Peace,
FROG

Hi All!

DH being on nights has thrown my routine into a spin. I'm fighting to keep my eyes open:eek:

DEBELLI-thanks for your post on cravings. Full of useful info.

ROSALIE-I emailed Galloway to find out when the agave might be delivered. Apparently it's on order and will be shipped as soon as they get it in. Hope they CAN get it!

FROG-Now that you mention it--I have been getting more zits. Not a bad breakout, but a couple or 3. And of course the big, lovely ones come out just before a special night out! I thought maybe I was drinking more water and flushing out impurities. I sometimes get one around TOM, but now that you made me think about it, I've had them at other times too. Never thought about the exercise program causing it. Hmmmmmm......

Sorry about not responding to the rest of you. I'm gonna crash into my computer if I don't have a power nap. And I still have a cardio workout to do.

Bye for now.

I'd like to say a word in memory of my dearly departed fish.

Blue was a good fish. A kind fish... he swam in my kitchen for 2 years, and never argued with me, yelled that dinner smelled nasty, or complained when the dishes got out of control.

I'll miss him...

He's lucky he didn't die 2 days ago, or he might have ended up on a Triscuit with the day I was having!!!

Hey All:wave:

Hope you all had a good day, mine was uneventful. Should of stayed home and did some housework, but instead, ran around with Mom for a while before having to p/u the kids. We stopped at a fruit stand that's in the boondocks and I bought a fruit I had never heard of, called SAPADILLA. The sign said it tasted like pear and brown sugar-and it did! It was really good!! The nutritional value of a 6 ounce fruit is: 141 calories, 9 g dietary fiber and 34 g carbohydrate-wirth trying if you can find one at a decent price-just wait til they soften up to eat.

Thanks to all of you who put up with my boasting about Michael and gave me good wishes!!:) Hoping next month I'll be singing praise of Lauren getting into the drama program at his school!

Food today has been going well. Trying to decide if I should have fish or meat for dinner. Will let Eli decide when he comes home. Have a desire for the sauteed onions with pine nuts he makes, maybe if I chop up the onions he'll do the honors! Have done well with my water too:spin:

ZANNE, I do love you way of thinking! You are too funny! Hope DH had a good bday!

DARAMUS, glad to hear you're having a good day. We LOVE making grape leaves here at home, with Eli being ME, well, you get the picture! Have a grapeleaf for me tonight! Hey, we actually have a hand machine that rolls them here at home!!!

POOH, not necessarily! I have a recipe for Baklava that could be made SB legal if you bought agave and WW filo dough. BUT, lets not focus on desserts at the beginning of your SB odyssey-let's find a way to get you motivated. One thing I'd like to say to you, being you are younger;) is, do this now, why you are still young. Don't make the mistakes I did and yo-yo diet til you're my age-40:eek: and have saggy skin that won't ever go back from all the years of going up and down in weight. How I WISH I could turn back the hands of time, but I can't, so I have to live with the way I abused my body-but you, you can nip this now, while you are still young!!!

KAREN, hope the shoulder gets better soon!:)

BETH, seems you are doing better and every day that you stay OP you will see how much easier it is and how much better you feel. Do stay OP 100% and don't give in, don't tempt fate. See what you've done in the past and don't make the same mistakes, as I mentioned in an earlier post. You can lose this weight once and for all, just keep telling yourself how much you want this, how much you deserve this, how much you can do this!!!! What a wonderful eulogy for BLUE, my condolences to you and your family. Where will he be buried-in the watery grave?????

FROG, I'm holding out that more will attend Oct. as it gets closer, esp. as we get new gals on the board in the months to come. I'm hoping they will all realize this is a once in a lifetime opportunity! Hey, if I can drive 12-15 hours, many others who have less driving time should be able to make it!! I think I too have a warped image of myself-which I'm sure you probably picked up on in O-town-hey, so I'm not perfect! I still tend to go towards the larger size clothes-after so many years of having to shop in those dept., my inside radar just heads me in that direction! WOO HOO on getting back down to the lowlands!! That's so exciting!! Hoping we both have good results next WIW on the scale! Def. those pics do you no justice, you are NOT as big as they appear!!!!

That's it for me, for now. Will try to check in this evening before I hit the hay!

Hi All!
Happy Birthday Daramus! Hope you had a great Day!!

Had a good day today. I seemed to be more focused and having less cravings now. There are 5 (count them) boxes of Girl Scout Cookies in this house!!!!! :( Hope I don't lose control. I will be strong!:) My husband has a box sitting on his bedside table - just ready to eat them all. Hopefully he'll eat all 5 boxes soon! I also did much better today with my water. Maybe there is still hope for me!;)

DH made Nachos for dinner - I used triscuit thin crisps instead of tortilla chips. It was good. I was looking at the truscuits the other day because I was going to buy sour cream and onion flavor but after reading the ingredients, decided to get plain. There is so much more "stuff" in them, just to make a flavor!
Work has been crazy this week - I do the schedule for 50 nurses and assistants and this was the week to do it. It is so stressful because you can never make everyone happy with their schedule. I posted it yesterday and only had 1 note of complaint! Glad that part of my month is over. All you nurses that work on the floor, I do hope you appreciate the person who does your schedule!!!;) It's a thankless job.

Well, guess I'll go for now. Everyone have a great day tomorrow!

How do you guys put images at the end of your posts?

I hear the little elves calling me in the night... " heyyyy beeeethhhhh, we have some yummy rice krispy treats for youuuu, and some fudge shoppe cookiessssss..... "

Have I mentioned my sudden dislike for anything elfin?

OK... today's water total..... 140 oz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have another UTI, so I've been drinking it down! ( I get them about once every 2 months... I have a standing prescription :( )
I feel like a little baby... having to go potty about 3 times a night... so much for sleep. Good thing DH brought me home all the top 10 bestsellers in paperback last week!

Hmmm... Hey Deb... 140 oz of water get me a Starbucks coupon? ROFL!!!!!!!! :D Eli must be a Starbucks guy the way you all talk... I'm clueless.. remember, I'm new! LOL!

G'Night all.... Have sweet dreams :)

Quickie before I hit the bed and do some reading. Since I started SB, I have'nt read a regular book that I can remember, they've all been recipe books!

BOB, slow weight loss isn't so bad-I thought I'd meet my goal in Oct. 2000, took another 8 months, and I really didn't mind. Of course not, that was NOT meant for you;) Hey, we ARE bunking together in O-town, aren't we???

BETH, have the CSI team been to the site to make sure this wasn't a hit??? Poor Blue-may he RIP! Umm, you can park that Keebler truck right in front of my house-I can guarantee it's contents to be safe and secure:s: Sounds like you're a damn ready to burst! I drank water pretty well today-but not 140oz!! Eli is a Mgr for a local STARBUCKS. Anyone we see from the board gets a pound of coffee-when BOB came to stay with us, she was in COFFEE HEAVEN!!!!!! She cleaned up big time!!! Do you have a SB near you??

HAPPY, do you have a WHOLE FOODS near you? They have their WOVEN WHEATS, like triscuits, but nothing in them, and I think better. If you are coming to O-town for sure and want me to get you a box, let me know. I always go shopping for whatever everyone needs from down here, so if you like good WW pita, let me know and I'll bring you some too. Oh, and you have to let me know just what type of STARBUCKS COFFEE you like-compliments of Eli and me!

Okay, I'm going to bed to read!!!!!!

See you all in the AM

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARAMAS

I finally finished the posts. Hope I remember what I read.

Deb: Congrats on your son's accomplishments. You have every right to be proud. IB is intense and a perfect score on any test is amazing. And to answer that many questions correctly is awesome. I don't know enough about weighted and unweighted gpas. Maybe something to do with the types of courses (regular vs honors or AP / IB). Still keeping my fingers crossed for Lauren.

Frog: Told my DH of my plans to meet in NC. Now, tell me where I fly into and how I get where I want to go!:^:

Music: Did you hear about our tragedy? Three of our top notch HS seniors were killed in an auto accident Tuesday afternoon. Our town is devastated. Two boys and one of the boy's girlfriend. The driver was a twin and they were returning from dropping the twin off at work. The twins grew up across the street from us and moved just about a month ago. We are still in shock.

BOB: Congratulations on your weightloss. That's great! Keep it up. :D

Beth: You are so funny. You lifted my spirits with your epitaph of your dearly departed fish. And I needed a lift. Did I tell you my brother lives in Huntsville?

I didn't get to everyone personally and I'm sorry. I'm proud of all you loser and give you all a big WOOO-HOOO! I'm just too sleepy to type anymore.

Have a great TGIF!

Take care,
Jeanie

HiedieHo All!!!

Spent my day running around. Went to the NH and then to Sam's. Of course, the worst part of Sam's (aside of the money spent) is coming home and putting everything away!

I also went to HFS, this time she had the dark agave, Said it was all she could get now as the light has been discontinued. I had asked about a case but wanted to try the dark before I ordered any more. She is going to check on light in gallons for me.

Funny thing, when I went to check out after picking up the only two bottles available, the clerk says "Are you making cheesecake too? Everyone (only two that I know of) is coming in for the agave and say they are going to make cheesecake!" I told her it was my fault and Ruby, the owner came over and thanked me!!

I tried to call my friends, I think the dark syrup would change the flavor of the cake. To me it has a sort of molasses flavor. Would be great in the buckle.

MOMMA - I forgot all about the chat the other night. We did a male baby shower at work too. It was really fun, of course they made the guy do some of the silly stuff too. He was a little embarrassed at times but was a really good sport!

DEB - A big WOW for your son. It's good genes for sure but I gather that Eli is no slouch and some must have came from him!!!

DARAMUS - Handsome pic. HAPPY BIRTHDAY even if it is a little late in the day!

FROG - WOW! You've come down a long way baby! You must be so proud of yourself and if you're not you should be!!

ANDAMAY - Welcome. There is a great thing going on here and I am sure you will help it along!

QUILT - I love sauerkraut, but family doesn't. Recipe seems like it would be easy to make in a small quanity. There's always SB Thousand Island.

ROSALIE - There must be something going around that let's us sleep. Daramus said he slept well last night, you overslept and I did too. I woke at at 10 to 9 and I'm always up at 7:30, boy did I rush to get to the NH by 9:30!!!

BETH - I know what you mean. Since holidays I have been a little lax too. Not with non-OP food but with OP food. And even though it is OP, too much of a good thing is not good!! I love your fish story. We always said our deceased finny friends were swimming in the big pool now!

I am so jealous of all the graphics. Everytime I pick one I get that sign that says it's not usable. What's wrong with me?

Think I caught up. Hope I didn't miss anyone. You're all so great.

Take care. Shirley

I am glad to see the boards so busy today :D It is great to see so many people getting healthy!!!!!!
I went to my Tops weigh in last night and am sad to say that I had a gain, it was 1 and 3/4 pounds to be exact, I have been doing great on this WOE for two weeks and my pants fit alot better so I am sure it is water weight, I mean it just has to be, I lost 40 or more on the plan a few years ago and my body is probably adjusting or something  Glad to see so many new faces and hope to get to know you all soon....... Christie

Melf- How are ya girl??? Long time no visit ;)

Hi all! Happy Friday.

I'm nursing a sore knee from chasing a hopeless shot playing tennis yesterday, hope it's just sore and nothing more! and a sore tummy from too large a meal at outback last night! All legal, but what a chunk of meat I consumed.

Frog- You sure have come a long way! Even in your big sweater, I can see how much leaner you look now. Your face looked half it's size! And you say you were swollen?

Deb- Wednesday would be great for lunch/whatever! I'll ask my brother where he is in relation to the mall, and figure out something to do with ds for a few hours. I need the bra store- it's the only place I can spot reduce (two spots to be more exact:( ).

Gotta go to work, then attempt to get to the gym for an upper body workout. At least the knee's not incolved.

Mmmmmm, I slept late and boy did it feel good! Have been so sleepy lately because I haven't been going to bed early enough, but I also think I may have a slight infection of the female kind. Thank heavens there is now and OTC treatment for the problem!

Posted a response yesterday but the gremlin got it! Usually try to copy it before I press submit but didn't and it back-fired. Oh well, will try again!

Today is house-cleaning day! oh boy. Do have to do some things like vacuuming, dusting, watering the plants, yadda, yadda!

FILLISE - I have got to decide what to give up for Lent. One year I gave up recreational shopping (or should I say recreational spending)! TJ Maxx went into a state of official mourning! I used to go in there and just look around.

BETH - Blue can join my 2 Beta's in fish heaven - Gabe and Al. Glad that you weren't forced to eat a "sardine sandwich" the other day! Regarding those elves - they are actually little trolls! And you know that bakery isn't sanitary because it's in a tree!! Stay away from the truck! And tell DH to get the cookies out of the bedroom! You should be the only "sweet treat" in there! (Warning to others: if you don't like personal info, skip this part!) I went through a spell in my mid-20's where I had UTI's on a freuqent basis, followed by a yeast infection from the anti-b, followed by a UTI from the yeast Rx... and would get into a cycle of that! Then the doc thoughtfully looked at the calendar and noticed one just after New Year's and one around Feb 14, etc. So he inquired about my sexual activity and suggested that after I have "it" I should make myself tinkle! Indicating that it would help clean out the U-tract. It worked! No more UTIs for quite a while after that! Hope that was more than you wanted to know, but seeing that you're a medical professional I thought you could handle this toned-down version. Sorry for the use of non-medical terms.

ZANNE - The pimply-poos are making me crazy. Better today than yesterday. Suddenly I'm 13 years old again! I am also gonna emlinate 2 new products to see if they are the cause. Are you drinking the BFL supplements? I wondered if the protien uptake is having an impact. BTW - I am SORE today!!

DEB - Thanks for the sweet comments about my size. We should go on a shopping trip in March/April! What are you reading?

BOB - Skeeter sends his love! He is one cool pup in those Foster Grants!

SLAPHAPPY - Nachos.... Mmmmmmm! I like to make 'em with WW torts from the grocery. I cut them into wedges and bake 'em in the oven to make 'em crispy. D-lish!

JRED - So awful, that accident you told us about. Reminded me on the ones at my high school during those years. They are heart breaking! Coming to NC! OMG I am so excited! You should check flights into Greensboro (GSO or PTI - Piedmont Triad International) and Raleigh. If you flying to one of those 2 I can pick you up. GSO is just about 30 minutes away and Raleigh is on the way to the beach or an hour from me. If you want to get closer to the beach you can fly into Jacksonville, NC or Wilimington, NC and get a rental car, or into a little bitty airport in New Bern and rent a car. New Bern is about as close to the beach as you will get but will probably be the most expensive. J'ville is closer than Wilmington but Wilmington is more scenic. Let me know if you need anything else!

SEF - Thanks for the comments! I FEEL better and I'm healthier too!

MEL - Must have been posting at the same time. Hope you see this. I do think my face is much slimmer, and even slimmer from the Sept beach pic I posted. That big sweater is one of the things I bought to "hide" in when I was at my heaviest. Now it is comfy and warm and not fat camoflauge. My face was more swollen in the pics with Deb than in the one in the castle. I will try to scan one of the ones at the finish line - AWFUL! Look at the pic I posted from the brunch and compare it to the one with Deb in the hotel lobby, maybe you can see a difference. Hope your new is better! How is BFL?

Well, time to get busy! Will check back later today! Have a great day.

Peace,
FROG

Good Friday Morning!

Got in my walk/jog, but only did 3.5 miles cause I had to come home to take Lauren to school. Already ran to the bank, grocery store and Target-going out soon to run a few errands before going to do the p/u thing!

Eli ended up making the salmon I bought last night-it was unbelievably delicious!!!!!!!! Hey, I think I should bring him to our SB GET TOGETHER in Oct. as our in-house coffee expert and cook!!!!!!!!!!!;)

Did very well with my eating and water yesterday and was surprised the scale didn't go down today-okay, more like disappointed! Here's hoping for tomorrow. I know I am retaining water, so hopefully I'll piss my brains out today.

JRED, Michael didn't get a perfect score on an IB test, that was the FCAT test that they give the kids for reading and math, he got it on the reading comprehension. But I still thank you for the nice words:) Sorry to read about that tragic accident with those kids-hope drag racing wasn't involved, it seems to run rampant down here with the kids.

SEF, I'm surprised they have the dark agave still around, it's very old stock. I can't find it here. It does have a little stronger taste since it's not filtered. I have to say, Eli does have influence with Michael and his grades, but he's not his father, though he loves both the kids like they were his own! Hey, I like the new avatar you have-the new bird is SKINNIER!!!!

CHRISTIAN, good to see you got a level head when it comes to seeing a gain and knowing it's not from cheating or something you're not doing right. I always say, be patient, it will turn around;)

MEL, great, so Wednesday it is! We'll make more definite plans around the time you have to spend with me. There's a large HFS right near there too if you want to hit it, the bra store is right there as well-wonderful prices (took BOB with me when she was here). I get BALI bras for $6.99 there. Anything else you'd like to do-just let me know!!!

FROG, LOL! Loved your Elfin logic to BETH!!! You are so witty! SHOPPING, hmmm, they'd never be prepared for both of us and the way we bargin shop at any store!! LOL!! I have a slew of cookbooks, I just grab one or two and look at recipes that look good, then put it aside and forget which recipe it was that I wanted to make-then start the whole cycle again the next night! I do have those little tabs, but tend to forget to use them.

I'm outta here-check in with you all later.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

I've been AWOL most of the week, and will be for most of the weekend too as I'm going out of town for a conference. But's its really great to see the board so active.

ONLY 20 DAYS TILL REGISTRATION FOR THE WDW HALF MARATHON!!!!!!!!!

Ditto what Fillise said..... I have about 10 projects that have to be done RIGHT NOW - Everything is top priority and I don't know where to start! Today I told one of my co-workers I couldn't even *think* about the revisions he was suggesting until we finish what we've got on our plate right now. I musta had a mean look on my face cause he looked scared and backed away. Oops!

My Meister is a sick puppy. He called from work yesterday and asked me to pick up some cough syrup on my way home (he refuses to shop, buy gas or anything in his police uniform). So today I confined him to the couch and the internet. I told him the only time I wanted him to leave the house was to go straight to Blockbuster and straight home - no going out running errands, fixing things or anything else. He refuses to stop and then his body stops him - and when that happens it lasts for a week. He's not your typical man - he doesn't whine or want to be babied when he's sick - he's mean and angry because he can't get up and 'do' things. I'm going to have to rent every Arnold Schwarzenegger and action flick in the place to keep him on the couch.

We're still looking for that racing bike for him and will do some shopping for that on Saturday and Sunday I'm going to update my photo album and clean my closet. I'm afraid to look in there!

Did my weights on Wed - walked 2 miles last night (my 'slow' night) - Tonight will be weights again before my 'long' day on Saturday. I'll do the 5.5 miles again - hopefully the time will be better, though.

Well, I better get back to work. Had comfort food today - tuna cassarole with WW spiral noodles, cream of mushroom soup, canned tuna, and peas. Yummy!

DEBBIE CONGRATS TO MICHAEL - AND HIS MOMMY WHO TAUGHT HIM THE DISCIPLINE AND PERSISTANCE TO STUDY AND BE HIS BEST!! :D

FROG THANKS FOR POSTING THE PICS - YOU DO LOOK AWESOME!!! I never saw your 'before' picture - you HAVE come a long way, Baby!! You never cease to motivate me!! No wonder Spewer is so mean - she's JEALOUS - your the 'BEAUTIFUL PERSON' in that group!!

QUILTER I LOVE that sauerkraut dish! :T I made a similar one with apples in it - but it made me sick - apples cooked in food does not agree with me!

NASCAR - They had the meet the drivers night last night - all over the news - including Dale's new statue - I thought of you! Your countdown is almost over!

MEL I'm soooo jealous! I wish I could come meet y'all for lunch, but with work being so busy there's no way they would even approve the time off.

RHOO WHERE ARE YOU????? ARE WE GOING TO HAVE TO SEND OUT GUIDO WITH THE WAGON????

I'm sorry I can't get to everyone. Have a great day!

Hiyas Everyone!! Got off work on TIME on a Friday... WooHoooooo!!!!!

DEB - I've had my mail forwarded to the ladies room if that answers you.. LOL!! I'm not doing that much today... I've only had 60 oz so far and it's almost 1pm. Yes, we have 2 Starbucks I think... we have one inside our brand new SuperTarget, and one inside Barnes & Noble... I adore that store. I haven't had any SB lately, because my fav's are the cold and sweet ones, so I haven't been there :( I can't make coffee worth a crap at home, it never tastes right... Oh and Blue's death was determined of natural causes ;)

JRED - I'm glad I could give you a smile!! It was my son's fish, and his birthday is the 18th, so he is going fish shopping for his birthday! No, I didn't know your brother lived here :)

Frog - I'm sure Blue the Betta will be swimming with yours today :) I have had chronic UTI's since I had my youngest son... he was 10.3 lbs and something happened to my bladder, now it doesn't empty all the way sometimes. When I call my doc, she calls in Antibiotic, Pyridium (the stuff to numb your bladder and makes ya pee orange..lolol!!), AND Diflucan!! I love her. She knows me... I take the Diflucan halfway through the antibiotics, and NO more yeast trouble!! I used to eat a lot of bread and sugar too, and yeast thrives on that, so now that I'm not eating that stuff, I probably won't be as succeptable (sp) to the yeast. I get UTI about once every 2 months... and I knew the potty before and after <ahem>... they told me that about 5 years ago after my first UTI ;)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Friday :)

BTW - the threads are getting long because I never shut up ;) LOL!

Just a brief catch up -

DEB - Michael is doing great! And so are you to have kids that are so interested in school. Give us your secrets!

BOB - I'm really happy you are posting losses again!!!!! Can ya bring that wagon around (along with a really cute and strong guy to help me climb in) so I get get losing again too?

BETH - I know that you have been with your doctor awhile and are happy, but just in case, has she cultured your UTI? I understand from my connections through work that if there are recurrent UTIs they need to be cultured to make sure that the right antibiotic is used. Could be it was right for you before, but the bacteria has changed. Just a thought, I'm not doctor, that's for sure:)

Have a good day, ladies and Daramus, and I'll try to sneak in later.

Karen

Karen - She cultured them the first few times, and then did tests and found out my bladder doesn't empty all the way sometimes, so that's why... the antibiotic she gives me always knocks it right out in a few days, and it's a couple of months before I get another one. :)

Just a quickie to the 2 ladies listed above.
SOL - Thanks for the sweet comments. Never realized that you hadn't seen my "before" pic. That pic was taken just before I hit rock bottom in October 2000. I just hope all the work I'm now doing for BFL will pay off. I really do want to lose this last 20 by May 1 which is doable at about 1.5 pounds a week. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Sorry to hear that Vince is not feeling well. Bill is just like him when he is sick. He wants to be left alone! I on the other hand want to fully pampered. Send him some get well wishes from The Frogs! You're doing FABULOUS with your exercising. Keep it up girl!

BETH - Between your doc and all of us on the board we are going to attempt to put an end to that UTI problem! Next thing you know we'll be trying to tell you how to do a home-self bladder tack! Isn't it great to have so many people who are interested in helping out though? Hope you're feeling better too, and BTW glad you know to tinkle-linkle after, how was it that you put it? <ahem> ! Funny!

Later!

hi everybody,

just a quick note to everyone. i was in the kitchen yesterday fixing comfort foods for my ailing daughter sarah when she calls out "mom, merv griffin is talking to rosie about how much he likes AGAVE NECTAR! the only part i caught was that he likes it on spelt toast in the morning! i was cracking up as i visioned a run on agave by all of these talk show celebrities! maybe merv is the reason for the shortage debbie?

bad, bad news! tonight after dinner i pick up 135 boxes of girl scout cookies, i need to do all in my power to get them delivered as soon as possible. i wish the keebler elf would drop by and pass them out. then on sunday i have to sit at a booth while the little darlings sell them. i will take my legal snacks and plenty of water to keep me company!

in between everything else i need to SHOP for something to wear to the football banquet, nothing fits. what a good but rather inconvenient feeling, look out dillards here i come!

bye for now,

Evening All:wave:

Hope your last day of the work week was good! Just taking a break while I wait for some butter to soften. I'm making a batch of OATMEAL COOKIES with a new recipe. Hoping they come out good. I hate when something doesn't come out well as it is, but when using the agave and it being a rare commondity soon, I hate to even think about having to throw something away if it doesn't come out well.

Got a call a few minutes ago from the HFS up in Broward to let me know that my next 2 cases of agave did indeed come in:spin: That makes 72 bottles PLUS the ones that Avis shipped me before she left the company-which I think is about 16, plus a few other stragglers. I'm still toying with the idea of ordering 2 more cases:^:

Went to a smaller HFS that I go to once in a blue moon, very small and very expensive, but they have some unusual stuff from time-to-time. Today, I took a shot and bought these things called SOYA-CAESAR PROTEIN CHIPS made by KAYS NATURALS. I very hesitantly plunked down $3.59 for a 6oz box of these little crackers and walked out the door. Opened the box as soon as I got outside and surprisingly, they were DELICIOUS! Here's the ingredients: Whole wheat flour, isolated soy protein, rice flour, natural vegetable oil, pea fiber, calcium carbonate, sea salt, onion powder, garlic powder, rosemary, parsley, pepper, cumin, cinnamon, and natural seasonings and the nutritional information is

Serving size - 30 chips (30g)
Amount Per Serving

Calories 110
Calories from Fat 20%
Total Fat 2.5g 3%
Sodium 170mg 7%
Total Carbohydrates 14g 5%
Dietary Fiber 3g 11%
Sugar 1g
Protein 10g
Vitamin A 4%
Calcium 30%
Iron 10%
Vitamin B12 6mcg 100%
Folic Acid 100%

They have 3 other flavors, but I was only able to find this one. If you can find them, they are worth buying, IMHO!;)

FROG, you can view more posts on less pages if you want. For me, I'm only at 4 pages-but heck, I'm thrilled with 4 pages and all the posts-we are really hot on this board!!!

FILLISE, have a good trip, wherever you are going! See you when you get back:)

SOL, hope you aren't running around like a chicken with it's head cut off with all these projects. Hope VINCE is feeling better-tell him we all say so.

BETH, I think today I should have my phone calls, at least, forwarded to the potty room-been drinking and peeing, but not enough of the later-def. retaining water, which gets me not to want to drink more-oye, what a vicious cycle! Both of those STARBUCKS are licensed and not owned by SB-no actual stores in your area? You think you can't make coffee, you should see me try! We don't even drink coffee at home, only if we have a party do we break it out, or if Michael has studying late into the night, he'll make some in our French Press. OR, if BOB comes for a visit, we HAVE to make lots of coffee!!!!!!!!

KAREN, no secrets at all with the kids and school. I just know how I was when I was a kid and said mine won't be like that. Luckily, they both like school and do well in it. I'm a stickler for them being there on time and neither has ever been abscent-my motto-DYING OR DEAD, YOU'RE GOING TO SCHOOL!! Actually, I think they love it when people hym and haw over them when they find out they've never been late/abscent:)

BIGK, thanks for the tip on the ROSIE SHOW! Heck, I hope there isn't a run on the agave! Not that I really need to buy more, but I'm toying with the idea of getting 2 more cases and sure don't want to have to go beat up Merv Griffin over getting the agave! I'm SURE those cookies won't bother you at all;) Hope you sell lots of them-just think of all those women who are buying them and invision them just strapping the entire box as-is to their hips, thighs, stomach, etc!!!!

BUSDEB, have a good weekend and enjoy your time out with APRIL!

Okay, I guess I'll go back in the kitchen and see if the butter has softened up so I can finish making these cookies. Will give you an update once they are done.

Have a great weekend!

OH>>MY>>GAWD!!!! DEB..what in the world are you going to do with all that agave! Are you going into the baking business or are you going to sell it on the side for a profit?????

I wanted to share this email that I got today...That's me in the
LOOPHOLE section! :)

HOW NOT TO DIET

I see about 250 dieters a week. About 85% are women, 5% are men
and the rest are teenagers.

Some are severely overweight (300 pounds +), some have just a few
pounds to lose, while most of them want to lose 10-40 pounds.

Although each person is unique, many have the same problem.
They make dieting extra-difficult for themselves.

Here are some examples.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

HOW TO MAKE DIETING EXTRA-DIFFICULT

1. BE HYSTERICAL

Most of my dieters spend 24 hours dieting and then jump on the scales
to see how they are doing. The next day they do the same. In fact they
never stop checking themselves.

This is not the action of a rational person. This is hysteria.
This is like standing in front of the mirror watching your hair grow.
The only thing it does is DRIVE YOU CRAZY.
Because you will never lose weight fast enough.

GET A LIFE
Weigh yourself once a week in the early morning with no clothes on.
Repeat this each week. But no more.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

2. CONSTANTLY LOOK FOR LOOPHOLES

Many people start a diet and then immediately looking for loopholes.
Can I eat peanut butter? Can I eat half-fat muffins? Can I eat pretzels?
Can I eat low-fat candy? Can I eat low-fat cookies?
Can I eat non-fat mayo? (Huh?)

Then they look for other escape-hatches.
Can I carry on drinking alcohol as normal?
Can I still eat a fried breakfast at the weekend?
I adore dining out. Can I do it once a week?
And so on.

This is not a serious approach to losing weight.
This is starting a new job and spending the first day discussing
severance terms. It doesn't exactly show huge commitment, does it?

GET A LIFE
Don't waste energy looking for loopholes. Get with the program!
Losing weight means changing your eating habits. That's a fact.
So instead of wriggling around looking for ways to carry on doing
the same old things, focus on adapting to a new way of eating.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

3. PRETEND, PRETEND, PRETEND

Pretenders are people who 'play' at dieting.

They don't really want to lose weight, but they think they 'should'.
Maybe they're doing it to please a friend or a neighbor.
Maybe they feel guilty about being fat, so they want to be seen to do
something about it. Perfectly understandable, but a waste of time.

Pretenders are full of excuses like:

I don't know how to cook.
Diet food is too boring and tasteless.
Don't ask me to give up sweet things.
My husband/kids insist on pizza/fries/cakes etc.

GET A LIFE
If you don't want to lose weight, then don't bother! Stay as you are!
Being fat doesn't make you a war criminal.
If you do want to lose weight then MAKE AN EFFORT.

Make an effort to find out how to cook.
Make an effort to try out new recipes.
Make an effort to try out less-fattening spices, relishes and flavorings.
Make an effort to discover less-fattening sweet things.
Make an effort to get your family to try new meals.

None of these things are difficult. But they do require effort.
And you MUST be prepared to make mistakes.
Because this is how you learn.
People who don't make mistakes, learn nothing. Trust me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

BOTTOM LINE (For a great bottom)

Dieting is all about change.
Not change for the sake of it. Change to liberate you!
So don't be put off. Don't be afraid of it.

Instead, ENJOY EXPERIMENTING!

Try out NEW foods, new flavors, new cooking methods.
Make a mess, make mistakes... HAVE A LAUGH!

A laugh? (gulp)
A laugh about dieting? (gulp)
YES!!

You CAN laugh about dieting.
It's wonderful therapy.
Try it and see.

For example, try singing my new song.
It's called "Diet Rap"
----------------------------------------------------------------------

DIET RAP - by TOOT
(Sing loudly, in front of the mirror or while leaning out of car window)

Yo! Mamma Yo!
Yo! Daddy Yo!
I used to be Stop
But now I'm Go.
I had lots of fat
But I gave it the boot
Now I'm where it's at,
All thanks to Toot.

See you next Friday.
Take care,
Love Toot xxx

HELP!!!!! Okay, I'm guilty, I just KNEW when I made those cookies it spelled trouble with a capital T! I think I've had something like 6-7, maybe more. Get this, LAUREN even liked them! They are barely sweet, which I think is due to them originally having raisins, where the raisins would bring in some sweetness, but I tend to like a slightly sweet cookie moreso than a really sweet one anyhow.

BOB, I'm holding on to each and every bottle of agave I have stashed in the family room closet-not even if my Mother begs me for one shall I part with it, okay, maybe Mom, but no one else!:s: Eli didn't mention anything about free FRAPS-will have to ask him when he gets his big ol but home!

Later!

Now you've got ME craving oatmeal cookies! As soon as I read the post that you were baking them, I knew what the next one would be!

Yesterday I hit a real low- I did my measurements and compared them to when I started BFL and discovered my waist is 1" BIGGER. The scale not moving finally doesn't bug me too much (BOB-I'm right there in your article under "hysterical"). After I saw that, it didn't much matter what else the tape or mirror showed, I was done for. So today, I've had a stomach ache ALL DAY from the humungous meal I stuffed down at Outback. The crazy thing is, it would have been a reasonable meal for me 6 months ago. But things always look better in the morning, or at least not quite so tragic. I ate right, am almost up to a gallon and a half of water, and had an awesome arms workout at the gym. I can actually see striations on my shoulder muscles- hope no one thinks that's gross on women! BTW- FROG and ZANNE: no zits here, but I'm older than you. Except for the gashes and bruises from falling over dumbells and weight plates, my skin's never looked better. Maybe it's just an adjustment thing....what's getting to me is the noxious fumes from so much protein!

Beth- I always take the phone into the potty with me, I'm in there so much. BTW, after each of my kids was born, I was the queen of UTI's for a few years, and yeast infections. Mine stopped- only very infrequently now. Hope yours do too. Sorry about Blue- we could never seem to kill ours and they hung around forever. Since the kids would never clean the tank, I got stuck with the job and am not real fond of fish. When dd was in 5th grade, she had to do a science experiment involving ecosystems and she decided to see if her angelfish (very plural) would live in the pond. Viola! end of her fish! DS killed his eventually by introducing a fairly nasty thingy with teeth into his tank...also predictable results. Now I won't let him get any more until he proves he can clean the tank by keeping the hall bath clean:D He'll be 50 before he gets fish again!

BKM- Good luck with those GS cookies. I used to have a freezer full every year because the leader (me) always ended up having to buy the rest of the troop's allotment. I discovered they're pretty good frozen, too. Now I just scowl and the girls scouts trying to push their sugar at me! Boy do I sound mean today, actually I'm not.

Busdeb- I hope you have a lovely weekend and get to ride out all those kinks from too much driving.

Gotta go- Olympics are starting!

Well, today was a bad eating day. I skipped breakfast since I was running late to school (made it on time, though!). I normally don't eat breakfast anyway, but I have been trying to change that. Then on the way home I decided to get some Jamba Juice instead of going home and eating. Oh, man, I love Jamba Juice! Then my sister ordered pizza and I decided I was going to cheat today lol. Only had 3 pieces though, so I figure I did ok. I starded SB about a week before new years, and in that time I have not had a chip, ice cream, cookie, cake, soda (aside from diet) or cheated in any other way EXCEPT for pizza. This will be the second time I've had pizza... it's not that I have a special craving for it, per se, but it appeals to the laziness factor in me. Let's see, there is steaming hot fresh pizza (ready now) or there is x, y, or z that will take me 5, 10, 20 minutes or whatever. No contest! :) GRRRR! Worse part is that I know I will end up having heartburn, but I still ate it anyway. Wasn't even that good, either! Bah.... I know tomorrow is another day!

Good evening all

Deb - You made a comment a couple of days ago about journalling every day to help you to stay on track and not overeat. I agree that it does make a difference, although I find it hard to do it every day. I will do it for a few days then slack off. Since you started the FOOD FOR THOUGHT board I was journalling most days even tho I didn't post to the board every day. But the last couple of days I have not been doing it and do I notice the difference. To-day and yesterday have been bad days for eating too many starchy carbs. It's all been legal but just too much of it. I bought some new bread to-day - I bought three different kinds and had to try a small piece of each, plus a handful of peanuts, and a couple of legal oatmeal cookies. You know how it goes. I would like to accept your offer of getting me a case of agave when I visit - if you are still able to get it. I would like BKM to get me a case too - I mentioned it to her in my last post. The company I ordered it from do not have it in stock at present. Who know's if they will be able to get any. Even if they do I'd like to get a good supply if I can - have to try and keep a good supply of the almond granola for snacking. I'm missing it already. Also I bought cream cheese last week to make the crustless cheesecake but didn't have enough agave to make it. I'm sure that weight you gained will come off soon, as you know from experience that it will. Just takes patience, which you obviously have a lot of. I copied out your article on CRAVINGS at work yesterday. Haven't had a chance to read it all yet but it looks like it is an interesting one.

Slaphappy - Our ft nursing staff have a regular rotation. It rotates over a six week period so they can always figure out when they will be off. Although I do have sympathy for the person who does the schedules. What with vacation time, and filling in for sick time she is kept very busy. We are also missing a couple of people from the schedule - people who have left and not been replaced so they have to be replaced with pt staff. It's not a job I would like to have.

Mel - Sorry to hear about the gain this week. You must be building up a lot of muscle with all the workouts you are doing, and as we know muscle weighs more than fat. I'm sure you will have a loss again soon. Take care of that sore knee.

Solshine - Sorry you are up again this week. With your dedication to exercise and staying op I am sure you will have a turnaround soon. I do hope things change for you after TOM arrives. Hope dh is not driving you crazy to-day and hope he is better soon.

Quilter - Hope your doctors visit went o.k. to-day. I agree with you that there are a great bunch of people on this board and I really appreciate all the help I have got from numerous people who have given me information and/or where to find information for my trip to Orlando.

BOB - Congrats on the 5 pound loss this week. Wonderful news. Loved the Dieting e-mail. It's a hoot.

Lamap - Hope you can make it to Orlando in March. I am looking forward to meeting you.

Andamay - Welcome to SB.

JRed - Glad you enjoyed the snowfall you had this week. I'm sure it was fun for the kids, particularly if they are not used to seeing much of it. I always love to see the first snowfall of the season. It can look very beautiful (as long as I don't have to drive in it). I remember the first Christmas I was in Canada - over 30 years ago - we had a beautiful snowfall on Boxing Day. My two gf's and I got all dressed up and went out for a walk, taking photos along the way. The locals probably thought we were nuts but it was fun. That was so sad to hear about the three students who were killed in the car accident.

Frog - I was just looking at the old pic that you had posted from last year. You sure are looking so much thinner.

Zanne - That was a neat way of getting around the birthday cake issue. Did you put a candle on each cake? Thanks for letting me know about the agave order. I was wondering why they hadn't processed the order yet. I discovered a new bread the other day. They had an ad in the paper and I checked out their website. It's called STONEMILL BREAD. Have you heard of it? It's made without any additives or preservatives and the label says 'we use whole organic grain'. It's made without sugar, except for one variety I found did have honey as an ingredient. That was the flax bread. I bought three loaves to-day to try - Organic Spelt Bread, 3 Grain Bread and Multi Grain Bread. It looks like it should be legal even tho it doesn't say stone ground ww. If you are interested in checking it out their website is www.stonemillbakehouse.com. It even gives you a list of local stores where you can buy it. I bought mine in Bruno's.

Beth - Sorry you lost a good friend the other day. But I'm glad you didn't get to have him for lunch. Yucks.

Karen - Hope your shoulder is better soon.

Sef - I will be thinking of you when I am watching the olympics. I meant to check it out at 8.0 p.m. to see what was on but I am still here trying to finish this post. I started before supper then stopped to eat and do the dishes.

Off to catch up on some reading and to check out the olympics.

How is everyone???

Thank God it is Friday....except I am on call this weekend and so far we have 4 cases to do tomorrow which means probably about 5-6 hours of work. But the overtime pay will come in handy so I can't complain.

I am glad that this week is over, I am so tired I am headed to bed and I never go to bed on Friday before midnight. But I know I will never lose weight if I don't get the rest I need. That is one thing I noticed. That when I am over tired I don't lose. BUt get rested and the scale drops a little....and I need all the help I can get. I really need to get jump started back into the groove agaon, not that I am doing really bad. But a cheat here and there adds up.

I made it to the pool tonight at did another 1/2 mile. I can't believe that I did it with out stopping once for a rest. Feels good when I am so tired (like wanting to fall asleep driving there) and then swimming and feel so full of energy.

I am going to make this short...I need some sleep. Have a great day everyone...will be back over the weekend.

TGIFMan am I glad this week is over. The kids have been crazy at school this week with all the snow. I, on the other hand, have been most wonderful today. This has been my first totally OP day in a while.:angel:Hopefully this is a sign of future successes.

JRED: So sorry to hear of the tragic accident. How is the student body handling it?

BOB: Loved the article. That's me in the loophole section sitting next to you.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. I'll be checking out the Olympics of course. My brother is the asst. sports editor for his paper and he's there. I offered to go as his assistant but he didn't take me up on it. He's covering the ice skating events. He got to go the the Sydney Olympics too. I tried to hide in his suitcase, but it didn't work.

Hi Everyone!
Had a fairly good legal day. Had the skyline frozen for lunch. It is really thin consistancy but tasted good and filled me up.

Regarding the Orlando meeting- any details yet as to what time? The birthday party for the baby is going to be around 4pm. So maybe we can all meet for lunch somewhere???? I do hope that I don't have to miss it! Are some of you going Friday night and staying over? Where is everyone staying thats staying over?

BKM-Can you possibly bring me some Agave? I have checked all the local hfs and they don't know what I'm talking about! Since I've never tried it, I don't really know what I'm talking about!

There is a girl at work who says she is going to start sb on MOnday, I'll try to lure her to this site!

Well my bed is calling me so I will say Good Nite and all of you have a great legal day tomorrow. Don't know if I'll get chance to post tomorrow. Have to babysit my 18 month old nephew!:dizzy:

Keep up the good work everyone!

Did everyone watch the OPENING OF THE OLYMPICS??
Wasn't impressed with the "big surprise" of the TORCH LIGHTING...AT ALL!!!
Rest of everything was good though..I'm watching J Leno right now....F U N N Y!!!!!

Enjoyed watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics last night. I watched the entire thing from start to finish. Don't think I've ever done that before. Some of the pagentry was lost on me but thank heavens for the commentators "explaining" what some it represented.

I disagree with BOB about the torch lighting. I thought having the 1980 hockey team was great. Their win was representative of the theme of these games "Light the Fire Within." Don't know that I've ever seen anything like that game. I didn't much like hockey then and I was young, but I remember watching that game with my parents and being really excited. They were BIG TIME underdogs and they shocked the world! I recently saw an interview with members of the 1980 Russian hockey team. They talked at length about how Team USA just wanted it more and played with all their hearts and were just plain unstoppable.

John Glen carrying the flag looked FAB at 80! He trodded right up those steps like it was not problem! How to be that mobile and healthy at his age. I was thrilled to see the president making a statement by making extremely public appearances and sitting with the athletes and enjoying the moment.

Ready for the skiing and ice skating! Like hockey too. I get athleticly (sp?) inspired during the Olympics. :o

MEL - Glad to hear that your skin is not a zit-factory. Mine is better so I wonder if it was a change in a product I was using. Hope so. WOW your arms sound great! I am starting to be able to see veins in mine and a little definition in them. I have a little bicep muscle but you can see the cut. Unfortunately I still have that awful under arm juggle too. Hate that! I bet the increase you've seen in your waist is a positive result that only seems like a negative gain. As diligent as you are I DOUBT that you are making backwards progress. You're inspring me to forge ahead! Have you done BFL for 5 weeks now? I'm only at the end of week 1! Do you believe that 20 min of interval aerobics is enough to burn 20 pounds of fat? I can't help but wonder if I should be doing more than :20. Welcome your thoughts.

ROSALIE - Thanks for your comments.

Off to start my day!

Peace,
FROG

You'd never know we were covered with a beautiful white blanket of snow 3 mornings ago. We definitely had Norman Rockwell scenes Wednesday and everything looked serene and innocent. In light of our tragedy, it was amazing how God seemed to cover us all with a big hug. The accident happened when T.J. hit a patch of melted ice on a country road and hydroplaned head-on into another pickup truck. No drag racing, thank God, just a really awful accident. It happened during that snowfall but our roads never iced up, just got wet and somethimes slushy. His funeral is today and the others will be together tomorrow.

Deb: Even if that test wasn't IB, to get that many questions correct, in any subject area, is great. We don't offer IB at our school, just Advanced Placement and being a gt teacher, I know what all of those programs require. You have great kids! ;)

Tina: Our kids are still in shock, especially my daughter. I think it woke them all up to the fact that they aren't invincible and any one of them could be gone in an instant. We have a great many kids who are involved with churches and youth groups and that has helped tremendously. The weekend will be sad, because of the funerals, and the rest of the seniors' year will be tempered by this, but they'll bounce back. To show God's awesome power and plan: T.J. had a twin, A.J., and our hs councelors are assigned students according to alphabet. A.J.'s councelor, is a twin who lost her sister to cancer just about a month ago. She knows exactly what he's going through right now and can relate to him in a way that only another twin can. Isn't that amazing?

It's time go get busy. Errands and clothes are calling my name. I'll try to check back in later this evening. Have a great day, all.

I loved the Opening Ceremonies, 'tho some parts (pioneers especially) got a bit long a sappy. Those big animal puppet things were awesome, and although it wasn't a surprise, I thought the 1980 hockey team was perfect for lighting the flame. I remember watching that game in a hotel room in New York, and we were HUGE hockey fans at the time (rooting for the Canadians at first, 'tho)and still are. It was the most incredible game I've ever seen. Hubby remembers the game when the Canadians first beat the Soviet Army Team in the Canada Cup, and likened it to that. (That was a big deal in Canada, don't know if anyone here even knew about it!) BTW, Rosalie and Zanne, did you notice that the USA team uniforms were made by "ROOTS"? We got a good laugh at that!

FROG: I was VERY skeptical about the 20 minute aerobics solution. But I really go all out, and couldn't do another minute at the intensity I end up at (bad grammer there). BUT, I do also walk the dog 2-3 miles per day, and if I'm alone (no neighbors) jog it, and I play tennis twice a week. Tho playing doubles rarely gets my heartbeat up any more unless it's cause I'm pissed at my partner or myself. All the "experts", and I guess some of them really are, over at the lean&strong site insist that on your first challenge you shouldn't tweak anything. Unless your BF% is under 15 (that'll be the day for me!) and/or you are preparing for a competition (**** will freeze over first), the 20 minutes should be plenty if you are really hitting the intensities. I know its hard to believe, especially since you and I were runners. And some good news: for me the underarm stuff was the most noticeable first loss. I'm done week 5 tomorrow!

Slaphappy- What on earth is Skyline Frozen? Sounds like our weather least week...

Deb- I bet you could make a fortune selling your agave stockpile on ebay or to Merv Griffen:lol:

Jred- Sorry to hear about the tragedy at your school. There was a horrible one like that here the year after Amy graduated, but she knew 2 of the kids that were killed. They feel so immortal at that age, I know I did until I had my first baby at 27! Sometimes it seems amazing that anyone lives thru the teenage-early adult years. It's so sad.

Lamap- Know what you mean about the sleep. My worst days everything wise are after the shortest nights. Even if I manage to stay legal and workout, I still fill puffy and fatter.

Darasmus- PUT DOWN THAT PIZZA! One of the posters on another site I visit says that when she first started to eat better, every time she wanted to cheat she would ask herself if it would bring her any closer to her goals. That's worked for me, tho I can't say I've NEVER cheated:D

Gotta run- hello to everybody!

Hello everyone,

I am very new at this so bear with me. I have been observing for several weeks and decided it was time to join in. You all seem to have a great network of friends. I am looking forward to joining you and am looking forward to the support.
Now that I have figured out how to register and how to post I have run out of time to play and write. I need to get to the house cleaning while no one is at home.
Have a great day!!:)

HiedieHo All!!!!

THE OLYMPICS! I told my family if I can't get anything done between events, it won't get done!! There were parts of the opening extravaganza that were neat, the animals, birds but it seemed to be the whole show sort of missed the mark. I think because at some points it was just too busy so nothing stood out to make an impression.

I know we think of the torch lighter as being an individual but I thin the hockey team played as an individual. At the time they were a symbol to all that wanting something bad enough and being willing to work for it has its rewards.

Finally got me hair cut yesterday, kept putting it off. I feel so much lighter. Also went shopping, Albertson's had salmon at 2.99 which is a good price here. I bought two filets, one for tonight and one for the freezer My ds likes to grill it and sometimes he wraps it in foil with veggies and then grills it.

Will try to catch up on posts. The Board has been so busy (isn't that great!) that I fall behind.

CHRISTIAN - We often see body changes even though there is no decrease in weight. That is good, I think, as there is no drastic changes all at once that in some can be detrimental. I have not been a rapid loser but the dietician and doctor think I've done great.

MEL - Hope your knree is better. Before this woe my eyes were never bigger than my stomach but they are now! Takes much less to fill me. I remember when we wanted my mil to get a second phone for her bedroom (there were no portable phones then) she said she needed it in her bathroom because the phone always rang when she was there.

FROG - Good analogy with elves and sweet things. New Year's and Valentine's Day? Hmmmm, make sound like you just....ahem....on holidays!

DEB - Sorry, I forgot Eli second dh. Rightly so, you don't make a big distinction about it. It 's what's in the heart that counts not what's on a piece of paper. Never thought of new bluebird being skinnier, just thought of him as a change. I like bleubirds. I had to be careful of the Buckle, could sit down and eaten the whole thing! Definitely a keeper.

FILLISE - We will miss your posts. Lokk forward to them.

SOL - Hope Meister is feeling better. That kind of man is almost worse than a whiner. A whiner will at least get rest, even if the nursie won't! The guy that wants to show he's macho can be a worry. My ds is like that and he has a couple of things that in MHO needs taking care of. I don't admire that overly macho side of men.

BETH - Yogurt is supposed to be good for yeast infections, just be sure that it has live or active cultures in it. I have heard of people douching with it, which is a bit much for me!!

BKM - Our stations don't carry Rosie anymore. I liked her show. She is a big admirer of Merv and Mike Douglas and tried to use their shows as a standard for hers. Can you imagine the run on agave now??!!!

BUS - You really need R & R and the best way is by doing something you enjoy like riding April.

BOB - Re your article, the one thing we do is laugh. We may gripe but we see the humor in our grips. I enjoyed Leno too. I love his Jay Walking.

DARAMUS - We all make excuses for not eating properly. But I know that I have to face up to it, that they are just excuses. You have to take that 10 or 15 minutes extra time to do something for yourself. Remember you are worth it! So stay away from that commercial pizza and make yourself a homemade one. You could make enough for a couple of meals and wouldn't have to take the time every day. Just have to plan for things. I know on the Board there are recipes for a legal pizza with macaroni crust and one with a zucchini crust. I also use ww pita bread. Some of us have found Toufayan (I think that's the spelling) that is legal. I know Ragu has a sauce with no sugar although it is not sold as a "diet" sauce.

ROSALIE - You didn't watch the Olympics because you were posting?!?! Not that I don't care for you all, but there are other times to post. I have given up a show, but the Olympics are special. You are so good!

LAMAP - Doesn't it feel good to see your stamina incresing? Distance too. Give yourself a hand.

MUSIC _ great you stayed OP in spite of crazy kids! I'm jealous of your DB, to be able to go to the Olympics, wow!!

HAPPY- Okay, I'll bite! Did I miss something? What is Skyline you had frozen for lunch?

JRED - What a happy coincidence about counselor.

Well, need some luch, Will make a big salad.

Take care all. Shirley

Hello all! Hello newbies - Welcome!
Yeah, I'm still around. I'm still settling in at work. I'm still trying to figure out where everything is!!

I found a cool greeting card website <<www.ponderingpool.com>>. There are some unusual cards which look at modern life with a wry note. The illustrations are pretty neat. The artist is Susan Mrosek. I'm attaching a poster she designed in regards to 9-11. It has a great theme. Hopefully, it goes through (and is large enough to read).

Jumped on the scale one day, and it said 130#! I couldn't believe it! So, I took a shower, and then got on it again - 135#! I must have been really dehydrated to absorb 5# of water from the shower! I'm fluctuating between 133-135# right now. Not too bad considering I've been inconsistent with SB. There's a cafeteria in the university hospital I work at. There's no low-fat, fat-free, light anything there! I've been bringing my lunch, and I'm heartily sick of salad at this point. :p

OK...OK....Now that we ALL agree to DISAGREE with BOB Let me say that ....that's my storey and I'm sticking to it!!! I did not like the lighting of the torch. I did however REALLY enjoy the Indians...We have CHEROKEE in my family, so I'm always interested in learning more about the different tribes..

HiedieHo All!!!

RED1 - You were posting same time as I. Welcome to the Board, you will find what you are looking for. I thank God for the people on this Board all the time.

BOB - I'm glad you have the courage of your convictions and will not be swayed by the opinions of others. If we all agreed it would be so boring.

What about that Derek Parra!!!!! He is a good sportman congratulating the Netherlands guy. At least he had the record for a short while.

Time to get sustitenence for the next round. Have to keep track of the hockey too.

Take care. sef

Evening from rainy Miami!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend, thus far. It's been raining here off and on since late morning. Went out to garage sales which all should of been called garbage sales, it was truly pathetic out there. Only decent thing I bought, and wonder why I bought it, was a new food dehydrator for $3.00 (in box, never used). Other than that, I spent about $5 I think. Boy, the crap people try to sell is unbelivable. Some things I'd be embarrased to even try selling, much less even giving it to charity-only the garbage can is worthy!!!

I am EXTREMELY bloated. Eli would tell you I'm probably full of bad gas, which is probably true-it's been terrible lately! BUT, I think it's due to other things as well. The scale being up another lb today:eek: is disheartening for me to see, esp knowing I'm up 8lbs from my all time low. Even though I am still under my original goal weight, I thought I would never go above 125 again. Needless to say, todays eating wasn't so good and I guess I must be feeling somewhat sorry for myself and pissed off at myself at the same time. I had e-mailed FROG and told her that even though I am eating everything SB LEGAL and haven't cheated, that indeed I am cheating, because the amounts of foods I've been consuming on and off for a while is NOT SB LEGAL! Who am I trying to fool. Tomorrow will be 8 months since I hit goal and I am determined to get back on track to where I was before. Feeling good about my eating, journaling and looking forward to my exercising. I am determined to get my numbers back down.

I know some of this gain is hormonal and it's driving me crazy as I can pinpoint the problem. Each month I can tell what's going to happen with me from keeping track of the past, but this past month has been really strange and nothing has panned out as I expected. I wonder if this peri-menopause is kicking in with me, I mean, I've seen myself develop night sweats once in a while and this too has never happened before. I am so bloated, the stomach feels "puffy" and my TOM isn't due for another 5 days. I didn't see the usual trend of my weight spiking and then coming down mid-cycle, instead it's spiked and stayed there. Racking my brains trying to figure it all out and it's not helping. If tomorrow still holds bad news, I am putting the scale away, at least til Wednesday!! PLUS, I haven't had a drop of liquid today, that sure as heck isn't going to help me-didn't help me when I was drinking lots either, but this is the worse of the two.

Cookies got the better of me and I've eaten so many it's not funny-I promise myself I won't make any SB LEGAL DESSERTS for a while-hope I listen now!!! Again, just because it's SB LEGAL, doesn't mean that gives me a license to eat them all!!! They still have calories, fat, etc...

Enough of my kvetching! See, I'm human too!!!!!!!!!;)

My OLYMPIC COMMENTS: I was disappointed on the lighting of the torch, thought it would be likely an individual, and Eli thought maybe the President since it was the first Pres opening a Winter Game. Thought maybe someone who represented the people from 9/11. I was unimpressed with the story on the ice about the fire within-I think it was more a local thing that people in UTAH could understand-did like the Indians though!!!!

BOB, your posting of the diet article had me pinned down with #1-GUILTY AS CHARGED!;) Hey, you going to do a POW WOW for us in the hotel room?? LOL!!!

MEL, you've got me pegged! I guess I'm easy to read, heck, I paste everthing about myself out there anyhow! LOL!! Okay, what the heck are "striations"? Sorry, I ain't selling my stash to MERV and Ebay, couldn't get me enough. There's some things I'll sell, (like all the crap in my house) and other's I won't (agave, kids and Eli's stud services!!!) LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! REALLY BIG LOL ON THAT LAST ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DARAMUS, I know about those BAD EATING DAYS!!! Doesn't sound ALL that bad though-I'm sure you're back on track today-unlike me! What are you getting that's legal at JJ? Eli has one right next door to his SB and though I've never gone in there, I can't imagine they'd have anything SB LEGAL:s:

ROSALIE, it's so very true, when we keep track of what goes into our mouth it definitely helps, and I believe keeps us more focused and on the right track. I too find that if I don't journal I'm more apt to eat more, not less. Here's hoping you both get back on the journaling track!!! Let me know if you didn't get my e-mail.

LAMAP, glad to see your post-hoping you got in that much-needed rest!!

MUSIC, it's nice to see your enthusiasim on being OP all day-it truly feels empowering when you see you can easily do it. Have to tell myself the same thing come Monday!

HAPPY, I would say lunch is a definite in Orlando-will get all the specifics early enough to you. I'm going to see what the other gals think about ITALIANNIS, a place we went to with SOL that is very good (we use to have one here, but it closed). Of course, not being from that area, it's hard to pick anything else than a chain. I don't know if OUTBACK up there is opened for lunch, very few are, most are only opened for dinner. I hope to stay at the same hotel as last month, off I-4 and Sand Lake Road, right off International Dr. as well. Not sure if I will come up Friday or just early Sat morning-would like it to be Friday, but can't afford the 2 nights, so may just make it Sat-plans still up in the air.

JRED, terrible tragedy, but like you said, thank goodness it wasn't drag racing. Eli and I travel a 15 mile stretch of road to avoid the traffic on the highway and the other day there was a massive accident when a dump truck lost one of it's retreads and hit an oncoming tractor trailer head on and then flipped onto a Grand Am, pulverizing the vehicle and killing the man in it. Trucks went on fire, really bad. It's in the middle of nowhere really and was in the middle of this 15 mile stretch, making rescue getting there longer than anyone could expect-I just thought about us traveling on that 2 lane highway and knowing things like this could happen to the best of us.

RED, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!! Glad you've decided to join us! It was nice to read your BIO on the BIO BOARD to learn a little more about you:) Where is Ridgecrest in CA? Near any of the major cities I've probably heard of??? Please, don't hesitate to ask us any questions, no matter how small, stupid, or insignificant you may think they are-we are all happy to help and throw in our 2 cents of advice. I'm glad you've noticed how tight a bunch we are on here, but even with that, we are always happy to welcome a newcomer into our family and trust me, before long, you'll think you've been with us FOREVER!!! Any big plans for the grand baby's 1st Birthday? I love her name!!!

SEF, a hair cut! I best you look MAHVELOUS!!! See, you are better than I, you COULD of sat down and eaten the whole buckle, I on the other had, DO sit down and eat the whole buckle!!!! I like what you said to DARAMUS "We all make excuses for not eating properly. But I know that I have to face up to it, that they are just excuses. " Oye, so true!!!!!!!!!!!

TREE, glad to see your post-wondering where you've been hiding lately! Don't you have a micro at work where you could take something and heat it up? Remember, the quiche freezes well!!!!!!!

That's it for me, for now at least. Eli's due home any minute, so I have to wrap this up.

See you all tomorrow in the AM!

NITE!

Hello Everybody!

So sorry I’ve been AWOL the past few days. Let me assure you that you were all in my thoughts, but I just couldn’t manage to get a decent post done. Yesterday morning I was up and half way ready to go for my doctor’s appointment, when I got a call from her office. She was ill and I had to reschedule. So I dodged the pap bullet for a couple of weeks. And to think I had done the pre-doctor visit shaving and everything. Man, what a waste. Well, I guess Paul can appreciate it. Ha!

So since I didn’t go I didn’t weigh in there so I still don’t know where I am regarding that whole issue. I guess I should just bit the bullet and step on my scales and start from there. I just feel like I’m wandering aimlessly.

Last night we went over to MIL’s house. She wanted to have a Winter Games Night. The plan was to watch the opening ceremonies and play games and eat supper. Well, we took this old video from Christmas 96 and so we watched that and laughed before we turned on the olympics. We played BINGO while that was going on, so I only had one ear on it. My MIL is so much fun. All year long she buys little “prizes” and stores them in her closet in huge shopping bags. Then when we play games, she always has prizes for us to choose from. I won a really cute purse and change purse that’s made of that thin twine and it kind of looks like macrame. I was happy. The good thing about going to her house is that she always has healthy food. So the temptations are few and far between, so I usually eat really well there. She had great sloppy joes and a huge salad and fruit. It was such a good evening.

I just found out today that Wild Oats has a brand of triscuits that have no partially hydrogenated oil. The look exactly like triscuits, but they do taste a bit dull. But the way I look at it, I usually eat them with cheese or tuna or something. So they were fine that way.

BOB---Did you see that UT beat UK in basketball this past week? That didn’t go over well up here where there are plenty of wildcat fans. Hey, thanks for sharing that article. I am definitely a loopy too.

DEB---I wish I could blame you for making me hungry for cookies, but I’m always hungry for cookies. Sounds like you do more in the kitchen than you profess to do. Do you feel that you are a better baker than a cook? Do you think those oatmeal cookies have you all gassed up?

HAPPY---Sure do wish I could send you a plate of the “real” Skyline chili. I’ve been to some parties up here where they use the frozen to make an appetizer with tons of melted cheese on the top. It’s pretty good, but people usually load that up with onions and that means a big “no thanks” from me.

FROG---I remember when being in a friend’s apartment while I was a senior in college in TN when that USA hockey team won. Her apartment was wall-to-wall people and it was very exciting. Seeing all those guys still gives me goose bumps and brought back some wonderful personal memories when I was young and footloose and fancy free and could lose five pounds in one week without breaking a sweat! A youth is wasted on the young. :-)

JRED---My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you mourn your loss. I wish there was more I could say to make the hurt go away. God bless you all.

SEF---I thought your comments on the opening ceremonies were right on target. It seems that lately with these types of events (Superbowl half time show too), they try to have so MUCH stuff going on that it looks chaotic. I felt that way last night when we were watching. But I also have to say that I wasn’t watching it too closely. But it did seem a bit over the top at times. And I thought they drug it out too long. Guess they wanted the people who bought those expensive tickets to get their money’s worth.

Well, I’m trying to finish up a quilt and I’ve just got a couple more hours of quilting to go and then I just have to finish the outer edge and it’s finished. So I’m sorry I didn’t get to respond to all of you. Just wanted to touch base and will try and get another post on tomorrow.

Take care, friends!
Kim

Well, today was better overall in that I didn't cheat, but I think I had too much coffee and too little food! :( As I mentioned in my last post I really like Jamba Juice. I'm pretty sure the one I like isn't legal, but they may have some completely legal SB items on their menu. Here is the nutritional info on my regular smootie (protein berry pizaz). I've only had 2 of these in 6 weeks, but I want your opinion on how bad it is... i mean some things are REAL bad (never want to have) and some things are ok in reasonable amounts every so often! At least I think so anyway. :) You may not agree, however. Anyway here is the info:

Ingredients: Soymilk, Frozen Strawberries, Frozen Bananas, Ice, Agave Nectar, Protein Boost.

Fat: 1.5g
Protein: 21g
Carbs: 102g
Fiber: 6g
Calories: 490

I was worried that the carbs were a little high, but I really don't know! I rarely look at carbs on labels.... I mainly look at ingrediants and sugar grams. Is 102 grams of carbs too high? I'm interested in your opinions. Thanks

EVENING!!!

Did anyone see the Canadian skaters? THey were GREAT!! I want them to win!

KIMMY..Did you not hear me singing ROCKY TOP??? I JUST LOVE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!! I've got me a cravin for some SKYLINE..I guess I'm either gonna have to drive to Naples and get some, or go to PUBLIX and get the frozen...NOT THE SAME!!!

DEB...You've not lived until you've seen me in BUCKSKIN and lying on a INDIAN BLANKET!!
I'm gonna conjur us up some snow!
Think of our hotel as two for the price of one! We can go on Friday if you want..I can get off early and who ever gets there first and get us checked in...THINK ABOUT IT and let me know!
I will need to put in for getting off..

SEF...so far so good..I'm really enjoying what I'm seeing..can't wait for the ski jumping..I really like that

Got to STARBUCKS this morning for my freebie. They were making citrus freezes and man were they good...also a new MOCHA COCONUT FRAPACHINO...didn't get that one though.. We had a new store open today..a drive thru.
Than will be dangerous for BOB

Good evening!

A quick post just to let you know that I am still around and still OP. I am just feeling so happy with this WOE. I talk about it all the time. I asked my mom today if she got tired of hearing me. Thank goodness she said no. She is actually eating this way too and has said that it's easier than she thought it would be. I have found that now, especially on weekends, I am forgetting to eat. Today I had:

Breakfast: 1 egg, 2 slices of bacon and ww toast
Dinner: grilled chicken, tomato, lettuce on sourdough bread and a small side salad/no dressing.
Snack: 6 triscuits and cheese

I know that I didn't eat enough today. I should have veggies and fruit. I was out all day. I know it's not excuse.

Daramus: I think your smoothie sounds really yummy. I'm certainly not an expert, but it sounds ok to me as long as the bananas don't bother you. I know what you mean about pizza. It is one of my favorite things to eat. Since SB I have not eaten one that is not SB legal though. Really the ww pita ones you make yourself are fast and yummy. I also used the recipie for WW Pizza crust that is on the recipie board and it was really good as well.

Quilter: Sounds like you had a wonderful time at your MILs house. That is a really wonderful idea that she has regarding the gifts.

Deb: Your oatmeal cookies sounded so good that I decided I will make the NO BAKE cookies tomorrow. I am cutting the recipie in half though. I wonder if they freeze well?

Red: Welcome to the board. You will find tons of support here and close friends.

JRed: Sorry to hear about the terrible tragedy at your school.

Lamap: You are doing so great with your swimming. We have a YMCA really close here. I have been thinking about joining so that I can use the swimming pool.

Regarding the Olympics: I have also watched the opening ceremonies and then todays events as well. I enjoyed all of it, but I also thought that there was too much going on in the arena. I too liked the Indian part of it. Especially when the Chiefs from each tribe was presented with a gift. I will be glued to the TV for the next couple of weeks.

Well, it's getting late. Sorry I didn't respond to everyone. You are all in my thoughts though.

Good Morning y'all! It's dehydrated sleepy head here. Went to a friend of DH's from work last night to play cards (Rook). He cooked dinner and it was great! Concerned about my diet he made it all SB legal, plus no red meat or pork. He made this incredible pasta and chicken dish!

DH and I had never played Rook before until last weekend and we were surprised that we won both rounds last night.

Went to the gym yesterday to do my cardio and asked 1000 questions about heart rate. Seems that according to the formula I am at what is supposed to be my max heart rate when working out at an exertion level of about 8. Am going to take a resting heart rate in the morning and see what that is and then figure out my max. Craziness! Just want to make sure I am working in a fat burning zone.

BOB - Lord have mercy! Didn't mean to open a debate about the Opening Ceremonies. Again, would like to say that much of the feeling in our statements is lost in this communication method. Sorry if I stirred any ill feeling. Hey! Would like to request that you bring that buckskin dress to the beach! I hate that I missed the skating last night. This wasn't an ice-skating kind of evening and I REALLY wanted to watch it. I'mm pulling for the Canadian couple too. Also want to see Elvis Stoiko (sp?) win if Todd Eldridge doesn't. Are you up for another Survivor? Doesn't one start at the end of this month?

DEB - Thanks for sharing your personal, self-reflection about your eating of late. Do you think that is linked to your belly pain? I hope you are feeling better in general and about your eating too. Today is a new day! {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

QUILTER - Your MIL sounds like a blast! I love the whole game night with prizes concept! I am all over that kinda fun! What does the quilt you are making look like? Is it for you or a gift? Have I told you that I have all my grandmother's quilting fabric and supplies? Would like to evantually find a beginner's pattern that I think I could do with simple sewing.

DARAMUS - A student? What are you studying?

SOL - How is Vince today? Hope he's feeling more like the "Meister." Bill is thrilled with your commitment to walking and the countdown. A friend here (Sharon, also the beach massage therapist) asked yesterday when the registration opens, and thanks to you I know! Happy to report that my knee is feeling much better. Look forward to running again. Not excited about training for the 1/2 yet, but that will kick in about July or August.

That's all for now!

Peace,
FROG

hit and run post.....

Went to Centra Care this morning with the sick back of flesh coughing at my side only to find out that they discontinued their association with Humana in November.....we ended up going to the emergency room of the hospital where he goes to take people they 'Baker Act'. Thankfully we didn't have to wait tooo long, byt ER standards.

The dr. was going to give him just antibiotic and cough medicine and I asked if she could also give him something for the aches and pains that he has so that I don't have to listen to "I'm so uncomfortable!" "My back aches so bad!" "I can't get comfortable!" "How long am I going to feel this bad?" She gave him an extra prescription of pain medicine for me. THANKS, DOC! I also had her tell him he has to stay home tomorrow and rest if he wants to get better - he'll listen to her and not me.

Dropped him off at the house while I went and camped out at the pharmacy. Humana has him listed as a female on their plan. so that was a bug to work through to get the prescription. THEN after getting home - I had to turn around and go get him some Sprite because the medicine they gave him at the hospital made him nauseous. THEN he started getting the hiccups every 30 minutes....... AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!! At least now he's sleeping in the extra bedroom - just a few minutes to myself.

I *did* get my walk in yesterday - 5.5 miles in 1 hour 31 minutes. My left ankle is killing me today, but otherwise I'm doing pretty good. Got a book on walking and will start being more consistent on doing my stretches. I also think I'm going to see a podiatrist since this left foot thing seems to be chronic and not getting any better.

Today is supposed to be a weight day, but I haven't even gone to the grunchy store since we did the Dr. thing, so I don't know if I"m going to make it there today.

Well, thanks for letting me vent - I'll weigh in personally later.

P.S. I vote the hockey TEAM lighting the torch was a wonderful idea - TEAM is very important part of life - and the fact that it was people actually involved with the Olympics and not some celebrity or political or designer cause means a lot to me. I, too, remember what a big deal their winning was and the excitement that pulsed through the WORLD to see the underdogs determination win out.

Hi from dreary, rainy Pa.
Got in a killer legs and abs workout this afternoon, after sleeping late and not really eating enough. I must have looked pretty pathetic leaving the gym, cause the guy at the desk offered me a free protein bar and they don't give anything away there. He probably thought I'd crash on the way home and sue the gym! No walking today, poor Cleo keeps bringing me her leash, but I hate rain.

Sol- Sounds like its not real fun at your house. Can't you grab his handcuffs and handcuff him into bed? Then YOU keep the key. Hope Vince feels beeter soon, and your left foot ,too. Wasn't that a movie? I think we had it on tape for years but never got around to watching it.

Frog- Thanks for the e-mail!!! The heart-rate stuff is to technical for me, I just push until I know I can't do one bit more and I figure that's where "10" is. I still can't figure out why my weight hasn't budged in 5 weeks of this torture, but thanks to my peasant genetics, I'm probably one of 3 women in the world who build big muscle easily. Hope that's the explanation. I loved seeing you on L&S!

BOB- Sorry to disagree, no hard feelings. Kinda like college football season and all the spats on the board then. I'm just a huge hockey fan, and team sport fan, tho I never ever did any! Unless you count Ski Team as a team sport:lol: I'm with you on the Canadian skaters- they're so great, I just couldn't believe it when he dropped her in the last pose, but they pulled it off with class.

Quilter- nice to see you back, I enjoy your posts. MIL's Winter Games party sounded like fun.

Hi everyone else,

Thanks for welcoming me in. Since I have never been involved in a group like this it will take me time.

Deb- Ridgecrest is about 3 hrs NE of Los Angeles, or closer is Bakersfield it is 2 hrs. There is a Navy Base (Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division) here that most of the town works at and why the town is here. I have lived here most of my life and like it very much. We are 2 hrs from Mt Whitney and 2 hrs from Death Valley. My daughter is planning a large b-day party, which will be here since her place isn't large enough. But before that my son is getting married this Friday in Las Vegas. It should be a busy next two weeks.

WOE question. I notice that most everyone adds veggies to all three meals. Is that to fill you up with low GI food? Also, I have been having yogurt smoothies for breakfast since it is the easiest with work and all. Is that to much and could it slow down my weight loss? I have lost 8 or 9 lbs depending on what time of the day and can't seem to get past that for two weeks now. Not sure what I am doing or not doing. Help.

Well I need to get back to the house cleaning and other chores of the day.

Everyone have a great week. Bear with me I'll get all your names down soon.

Hope everyone is having a quiet day. The cold front that was in Utah Friday night finally made it to N.TX today. It dropped about 20 degrees from the time I left my house at 8 til I left church at noon. My DD asked if it was going to snow again! :p Such wishful thinking. Just your normal Texas weather.

The scales were down 2 more pounds today so I think I'm out of that stall, finally. I've got a roll going on the exercising and with spring just around the corner, may actually get out and walk. Evening activities have to slow down first, though.

Red: Welcome to the board. This is a great place for advise and encouragement!

Tree and Sheann: Come on back, girls! We miss you.

Deb: Thanks for your openess about your weight and eating challenges of late. Have you had a blood test to see if there's a thyroid problem? A friend of mine thought she was premenopausal for 2 years and found out last month it was her thyroid! If the tummy pain persists, you should definitely get it checked.

Thanks to all for your kind words. We are moving on and the kids are using this tragedy for good. The pastor said at the funeral if they treat each other better, love their families more, then these deaths won't be in vain. I didn't go to the funerals today as I didn't know the kids as I did T.J. My dd went.

I'm off to read the newspaper, now. Have a great week everyone!

Hey all,

What a great weekend this has been. DH got in two rounds of golf.....so he is a happy camper. I got some good riding time on April .....so I am a very happy camper. The weather especially today is beautiful. It started out sorta dreary but turned out to be wonderful.

I will not be here much this next week .....I have field trips again.....grrrrrrrrrrrrr....Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Anyway I will check in and hopefully have a little time to post this next week.

J red....I am sorry to hear about ur communities loss. We have had similar experiences like that and it sometimes helps the kids to realize they will not live forever and to not take things for granted. My prayers are with you all.

Red1....welcome ....very glad to have you with us. I try to eat veggies at most all meals.....but sometimes it can be very hard. I have found when I do that I feel so much better and don't get hungry as soon.

Solshine....I hope DH is better soon.....for both your sakes....

Frog......one thing you guys don't know about me is that I play Rook online almost everynight. I play at games.com and I must say I am very addicted. It sometimes drives my DH crazy I think although he never says it does. I just am not a tv watcher so that is what I do to unwind....sometimes I unwind till 12 or 1 am ....and then have to get up at 5 am....but that is very rare.

Daramas......send me one of your smoothies ....sounds yummy to me. I am so proud of you for sticking with us gals.

Deb.....hello girl......we are going to have to fumigate you or Eli is going to move out......Just kidding...

Hello to all others I missed.....cya all soon....have a great week.

Smiles,
Debbie :)

Hello Everyone!

Well, I made the No Bake Cookies. I didn't have the agave, so I had to use an alternative (I found a Vanilla Syrup from the Atkins line of products with no carbs or sugars.) I didn't use enough and the cookies are not quite sweet enough. I guess they'll do in a pinch. Maybe it's a good thing that they are not sweet enough and really yummy:s:

The wind is really blowing here now. Yesterday was in the 50s, right now it feels like it's in the 30s. Looks like more snow sometime this week.

I am sticking between 275 and 275.5 this past 3 days. I do know that I have not had enough water today. Guess I should catch up. Anyway, I am happy with my progress.

I have been watching the Olympics. It has all been good, but I can hardly wait for the rest of the Figure Skating. I won't be moving from the TV set.

JRed: Thanks for missing me. Congratulations on losing 2 lbs and getting off the plateau.

Red1: Sounds like you will definitely be busy the next two weeks.

Sol: Hope your dh gets well soon and your ankle feels better soon. If it doesn't, I agree with you that you should have it checked out. I have problems with my right ankle. I broke it years ago and it never really healed properly.

Meliris: Congratulations on your consistency with your workouts. Please make sure that you eat and drink enough though. We don't want you to get sick.

BOB: I saw the Canadian Skaters too. They were terrific. I couldn't believe it at the end when he dropped her. They handled everything really well and just took it all in stride. Oh, and the Mocha Coconut Frappacino sounds wonderful. I don't know if I would have been able to resist.

Well, I hope everyone has a great day.

Weigh In Saturday came yesterday when I was on my way out of town. Went to the Mother In Laws on the way.. and found out I am down 5 pounds from when I weighed in at my mom's 2 weeks ago!!! WOOHOO!! That puts me only 2 pounds from where I said I wanted to be on my birthday 3/25... and even upped it to being my February goal instead..and I CAN DO IT!!!

OK... This weekend was ****. Pure ****... I'm not censoring, or exaggerating in the least.
We went to Nashville to visit the outlaws... most of which hate me because I'm older than DH and had a child when we met. (He was 17, I was 19) They always swore I stole his childhood... (nevermind the fact that I got him off drugs, and alcohol, and he got a great job, and now has everything going for him... and that we're insanely happy together after almost 8 years!) :::Rant Ended:::

Anyway, it was an early Bday party for my son.. and get this... They had SANDWICHES for lunch, with CHIPS and DIP, POTATO SALAD, CAKE, ICECREAM and COKES!!!

I just want you all to know.... I ate 2 pieces of Bologna because it only had 1 carb gram each, and dextrose was waaaaaaay down at the bottom of the list and it said 0g of sugars... and 2 slices of cheese... with a little mustard to hold them together, and 3 dill pickles. And 6... count them 6... glasses of ice water. I didn't even lick the icing off my fingers when I cut up the cake, I used a napkin. (One lick of that would have been my doing in!!!!)

Anyway.. I'm pretty dang proud of myself after knowing they were mean enough to fill that place with things they KNEW I couldn't have.

I have a question: my boss I think I said before is on this WOE too, and she said we can have Slim Jim, and Pork Skins too. ?????

I'm gonna have to break down soon and actually COOK a dessert food. I'm out of Aunt Gussies Biscotti (ROAD TRIP SOON!!!) and I'm needing something sweetish. I have WW flour and Agave... now if only I could find something REALLY SIMPLE, that doesn't call for much else.. I'll be in the clear. Any suggestions on stuff with like.... FEWWWWW ingredients?

BOB - I'm dying for Starbucks Frappuchino's... do they make them SF? I used to love that stuff... but here they only have 2 tiny stores... (DEB - Nope, no other SB than those :( ) So I'm guessing the selection is more limited than what you could get elsewhere.

OK.. I'm off to find something legal to eat... I"M STARVING. I've only been home 15 minutes... and I"m gonna get a snack and turn on the bubble spa in the tub. I need to chill.

Good Sunday Evening All:wave:

Don't have time to respond to you all individually at this time, will try to do that sometime tomorrow morning. Michael has lots of homework to get done and I was given but a few minutes to let you all know I was alive and well.

Eli was off today and we went to Broward, but we did NOT GO TO OLE OLE TODAY! Shocked? We ended up going to the ME restaurant instead, change of pace-I know, out of character.

I didn't get in my walk-Eli wanted to leave early today, so it didn't get done, I think I've walked less this week than any other without me being on a vacation-but in defense, I figured since Oct. 1st, 2001, I've walked 490 miles :spin:

Eating stunk today, but I sorta planned this to get it out of my system. Tomorrow I'm back on track 100% and NOT going to eat any SB LEGAL sweets. Like I mentioned in my last post, even though I've not cheated with non-SB legal foods, I've cheated with the amounts of SB LEGAL foods I've eaten and it's showing. I am NOT getting on the scale, at least not until WIW! I know I'm up, I can feel I'm up, so why torture myself? It's been 8 months since I hit goal and at least I've kept below that number. Whatever funky thing is going on with my body that's caused me to see this rise, I'll just have to be patient and hope it will take a downward turn SOON! Whatever the heck I've been eating is giving me hellacious gas-Eli's ready to move out-begged me to sleep in the family room the other night-can't blame him-I don't want to be around me either! Something in my system is sure acting funky and I have to find a way to take care of it, esp. before we meet up in Orlando-poor BOB, I'll have to bring her nose plugs!!!

Went to see MONSTERS BALL today, pretty good movie, sex scene was a bit intense, have to give Halle Berry an award for that one!

Well, tomorrow is a new week and a new board will begin. If you have any words of wisdom, quotes, stories that would be motivating, please post them tomorrow for MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY You definitely don't want to miss the one I have to post tomorrow-it's a really good one!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful night!!

Mel--BOB is right! Us SEC gals do not spat over football. We have discussions with a lot of bravado about how great our team is and how we are gonna beat the other team. Like how its gonna be pay back time in Knoxville next year when the mighty Gators play up there. It's part of the tradition of the sport down here in the south! Right, BOB!! It's part of the mystique, and any of the SEC gals will tell you that there are no hurt feelings and that we are not spatting.
Actually, there is no football quite like SEC football, no matter what the Big Ten says. We are in a way in a sort of football fraternity, with school spirit running high, but in the end all pulling for each other when we play in the bowl games.

BOB, I saw the the WKC show was on tomorrow. I have class tomorrow night but may take a peek when I get home.

Hi

Just a quickie to say hello. I haven't been able to watch much of the Olympics this weekend as I have been working. Got stuck with almost a double shift to-day because someone didn't show up for work, and supposed to be in early tomorrow. Hope I wake up on time. I did see some of the skating on Friday - thought the Canadian skaters were great in spite of the blip at the end. That must have been a shock for her.

Sef - I wasn't being good by missing the opening ceremonies on Friday. I did check it out a couple of times but thought it would be boring so decided to do other things, like checking e-mail and posting :). I plan on watching the finals of the pairs tomorrow. I usually go out Monday evening so will tape the program in case I am not home in time.

Have to get ready to hit the sack if I am going to be ready to leave at 6.30 in the morning.

Bye for now.

Marie.

HiedieHo All!!!

Such a day. Went to church and then watched the Olympics. And a Brit mystery. Actually in reverse order. DS is off on a business trip this week, so my cooking duties will be lighter this week. We girls sort of hunt and peck when he's away!

I love all this discussion about opening ceremonies. It livens things up a bit. I don't think anyone is perturbed about others opinions.

The skating was fab!!! Since our USA team has virtually lost their chance at medaling, I want the Canadians to win too. They are so good. The little tumble at the end will be in news reports for years to come!!! One of those highlight thingies.

The skiing today was good too. Takes a lot of nerve to do downhill and jumps. Luge is exciting too, that's where most of the "old" contenders can compete.

DEB - You are more of a cooker and baker than you like to let on!! Menopause can start at almost any age, so you may be beginning. It's just another phase of life.

QUILT - Your MIL sounds like a lot of fun. How thoughtful buying those little prizes along the way, altho your prize did not sound so little.

BOB - Will have to look up games.com, I love games and go to Boxerjam.com as they have word games. Never heard of Rook unless it has other names too. I too like the dog shows.

BUS - Good pic. As I said I used to ride a lot when I was young, western. Now I would pity the poor horse!!! Maybe a Clydesale could bear me!!

Want to get back to the wrap up shows on the Olympics.

Take care all, sef
