I threw tonight. I tried a new technique I have not tried before, and had a blast! I actually got a few really nice pieces, so I am happy.

Tomorrow will be busy for me. I have a dentist appointment in the morning, then we have a funeral to go to in the afternoon. I may not be able to get on until tomorrow evening.

Talk to you all then!

Missy, congrats on a great start. Keep it up.

Monet, isn't it nice to have so many posts that we have to start a new thread. I hope it continues Have fun at the dentist :fr:

Gymrat, I think you were just thinking about food too much. That happens. You will get used to it. Some days I don't have any carbs. I love my whey protein shake. It holds me way past lunch time.

Sandy, I had soemthing to say to you, but switched threads to post and now I have forgotten it. Sorry. It will come to me later. Hang in there.

Toni, how did Steve like the veggie soup?

Got 55 minutes at the gym last night. Boy was it packed. You could hardly get on any equipment. I will be glad when these resolutions pass and people start staying home. I sound like Bob and the snowbirds. now. Then we came home and did lunges so we would have more room. Pizza was good. Will have the rest for lunch today.

Today is my 6 month checkup with the oncologists. Pleae say a prayer for me that all is well. Our computers will be down most of the day so I have to run and wil see you tomorrow.

Okay, so both the kids were home sick yesterday and today I just have Kyle home with a cold. Shelley has been suffering from chronic Mondayitis for about two months. Since today is Tuesday, she's fine.

I went yesterday and bought groceries and some yarn in NFL and NHL colors and plan to make a plethora of baby hats in the team colors and sell them on Etsy. I'm going to call it Tiny Tuuks. I'll make matching sweaters, too. I have a set completed in Syracuse Orange/Blue and already have it sold to a friend of mine that wants it for her grandson. I'm not sure how much to charge her, but I'm thinking $30. I'll leave it up to her and use what she thinks for the rest of the sets...she's pretty generous, but fair, if you know what I mean. She crochets and knits a lot too and knows how much is put into these things.

Anyhow...eating has been about 75% on plan. Yesterday I did poorly because I didn't eat anything until dinner, which was Subway. Today I go back to the shop and will bring a turkey sandwich and an orange. I'm about to make oatmeal for breakfast and will probably have some unsweetened applesauce or juice with it.

Solly: Of course, prayers all the way. How scary for you, but what a relief it will be to have good news.

Gymrat: Have some fruit with that cottage cheese. It's good and good FOR you, too. Good luck back at work.

Missy: Can you give me a measurement on the little one's head? :chin: I can't imagine why I need it...I just have a compelling need to know it.

Monet: Good luck at the dentist. I may be PMing you if I have questions on Etsy listings.

Okay...back to getting ready for work. TTFN!!

Hey, guys. Also wanted to clear the starch thing up..15 grams(carbs) is technically 1 serving. For example, you have a slice of bread that has 10 total carbs, but has 2 grams fiber. Your true carb count is 8 grams. So with some breads, yeah you can have 2 slices ww bread and it count only as 1 starch. If I'm gonna have a sanwich is has to be 2 slices, lol. I usually use the Nature Own's..but be careful to read labels. I don't ever eat just 1/2 a sweet potato..if I know I'm having it, then I just don't eat any other starches that day. And sometimes it's good to trick your system..say you do a couple days of no starches..then have a day where you eat 3-4 starches..I've actually seen a loss that way.

GYM- sounds like you have hit a plateau..tweaking things a bit should work thru it. Have you tried NOT working out so long? I know you have gotten accustomed to it, but give it a try. Try doing intervals on the treadmill..say you walk 4 mph for 2 min and then jog 1 min at 6 mph and keep that up for 30 min followed by a cooldown. Boosts your metabolism. Just a suggestion.

Check back in a bit..

Fruity - wow 4 1/2 pounds - this is great!!!! Do you think you have found your mojo workin' now for weightloss??

Yesterday:

*I stuck to my plan!!!! NO SUGAR NO SUGAR NO SUGAR......just my mega soup, fruit and nuts
*went running
*circuit training and weightlifting - wow the girls really put me through a tough workout.....but one of them also knew how upset I was over the weekend and so is taking no prisoners with me.

This morning I had my mega soup and just finished some nuts for a snack. I'm keeping it simple - soup for lunch and veggies for dinner.

Just popping in...have had lots of trouble with cedar fever pollen since last Friday. YUCK.

Depressed about my Dallas Cowboys <sigh>.

Have had good days and bad ones eating since friday. Also a little on the grouchy side due to carb withdrawl....just gotta hang in there. Had some really great talapia w/spinach and whole wheat pasta last night...Yummy.

Wed will be our weigh in day at home...stressing about tomorrow being our 1st weigh in...double sigh...

I'm back from the dentist! Things went fine, except for an ulcer he found on the roof of my mouth. Told me to watch it.

I unloaded the kiln, and was pretty disappointed. I had a lot of cracking in the handles on the special order bowls. I may have to chuck them and start over. That makes me mad, since I should have done it BEFORE I fired them so I could reuse the clay. Now it is trash.

We have a funeral to go to this afternoon, so I need to go get ready to go.

Good afternoon everyone. Had to go for blood work today. I have my appointment with my cardiologist on the 23th. It was a fasting one so by the time I got to the cafe I was starving. And the coffee was so good. I kept my head and ordered a salad, and a grilled chicken breast on rye bread with lettuce and tomato. Tonight I'll have a subway turkey breast with lots of veggies and a bowl of my vegetable soup. I know its going to be to many starches but think I'm doing good anyway. But its taking each day at a time cause my head and body are sure fighting me. My little dog Jackson and I just shared a green tipped banana. My dog will eat any fruit or veggie too. LOL

Solly- I said a prayer for you. I'm praying for you to be fine. And can take a sigh of relief for another 6 months. Steve liked the soup and is having it again tonight. I just had to pick him up a bigger sized jeans so he needs it bad.

Missy- Rah rah shish boom baa....:cheer: Yippee for those lbs. Girl you are smokeing...... Keep it up!!!

Gym- Have a good day at work. Steve wished I would have gotten him some cottage cheese today.

Tech- Bravo for you too. :bravo: Keep those lbs dropping off. Sorry the kids are sick. Hope you don't get it too.

Mercee- It took us a while to get here so it will take awhile to get rid of those bad habits. I heard do something for 21 days and it will be a habit. So we can work on that eating. Like I'm not going to always have 4 breads in a day. LOL You can do this...

chrgrl- wow I'm so happy for you getting that gym. I'll bet you can't wait...Heres to being sore....

heartmom- Hope you're doing well. You're a wealth of information. I love when you answer questions.

Ray- Keep up the great work. That sugar is a bummer.... I've been hungry for something sweet so I got some of the Lindt chocolate 70% and it helps a bunch to just have one little square.

Rosemary- I weigh on Weds. too but not looking forward to tomorrow. I know next week will be better so I'll just bite the bullet and get it over with.

Monet- Good you got the dentist over with. Wonder what could have caused the ulcer and what you can do for it. So sorry about your pottery having the cracks in it. That has to be so disappointing after so much work and heart goes into it.

Well I'm off to relax. It tired me out going out of town today.

Aww, thanks Toni..but it's just because I've been doing this for so long, lol. It comes natural now, hehe. Well, I was just checking in, getting close to quitting time. Hi Everyone--Phew what i busy day I had today. I never had time to think about food and I know I under ate. well for me any ways. its probably how normal people eat. I had breakfast, lunch quick yougrt for snack and then I am just eating dinner now. I am slightly cheating because I knew I had no carbs or anything starchy, so I picked up baked manicotti no sauce. I honestly have no idea if this is even ok--for tonight it worked.

techmom-Thanks..I hope it's not a lengthy pleatu. As far as my work outs I only do classes. If I had to be on a machine i last about 5 min. haha i used to spend 10-12 hours at the gym each week. lately im lucky if i get in 5-6. This week isn't a good gym week so far. every class i take it different so I don't get "adjusted" to any one type. I belong to 3 gyms to so I change my environment all the time. i upped my protein and cut back on starch. Maybe this will help. thx have a great night.

Rosi--Good luck for tomorrow..:)

Monet-Sucks that you might have to trash your pieces. What ended up happening?

Solly-Your in my thoughts and prayers..good luck.

Thin-Awesome about the work challenge. I wish my work would do something like that..although I have recruited a lot of people to sugar bust with me. HAha

Chr-I know how you feel i work until 7 on most nights. it makes convenience foods hard to resist.

Toni-Cottage cheese is becoming a staple...thank gosh its pretty cheap. haha I have lots i'll share. great job not going crazy after not eating for so long. I am a mess if i am starving.

have a great night everyone!!

Week 1 - Wed Weigh In -- down 4 lbs. OK...I'm super happy with that given that this week was up and down commitment wise. Exercised only 3 out of the last 7 days and did have to do some eating out along the way there but honestly did try to make better choices at restaurants and I have faithfully stayed away from the work candy jar the whole week.

Week 2 challenge -- exercise at least 4 days and add some weight training in there.

Okay...down another quick pound to 170. But my brother in law sent us some Mole (sp?) that his new Mexican wife made and had some homemade candy in it that I had two large fistfuls of. Does anyone know what Mole is? I haven't even seen it, but if it's mexican, I'm pretty sure it's not legal fare. I'll have to at least try it to be nice because Derek is pretty excited about it.

Both kids are back at school. Derek and I are a little sore with each other this morning over bedtimes for the kids. He wants them to stay up later because he likes to hang out with them and likes their company...which I DEFINITELY can appreciate, but I'm firmly standing by that the 10pm that he wants as a schoolnight bedtime is FAR too late for either of the kids. Shelley is of the mindset that she doesn't fall asleep till then anyway, so why not just stay up that late? Personally, I'd like them heading up to bed at 8pm, in hopes of having lights out and stories read by 9pm and Derek and I are at odds over it...needless to say, the kids are also on Derek's side. I truly think that Shelley's Mondayitis would be cured if she got to bed earlier, but what do I know? I'm just the mom. Oh, well. What can I do? I don't want to fight with everyone all the time and three against one, I lose, so I guess I'll just let the kids get sick from sleep deprivation and prove my point. :dunno:

Okay, rant over. Gotta go switch wash and get ready for work.

Tech, Congrats on the loss, that should motivate you to get back 100% OP, what a cute idea and you can work on it at the shop if you are not busy. How is business by the way? I am going to have to come up there and smack your hands for getting into that candy. Hide it or you won't see your Valentine's goal.

Mercee, You can do it, the last 10% is hard. Just make good choices.

Chrgrl, have fun with your new gym.

Heart, thanks for the info, you are a wealth of info.

Toni, WTG  on your eating yesterday. You did great. What kind of bread do you get at Subway? The dr gave me a potassium supplement since I take the diuretics.

Ray, what's in that mega soup? I agree with you about the gym. I want to holler "FIRE" when I walk in. Monday's are impossible.

Rosemary, Congrats on a great loss. Keep it up.

Monet, you watch that ulcer closely you hear? Sorry about your pottery, I know how disappointed you must be.

Thin, wow, you will have lots of support. What a good idea. Hope you do the best of all of them.

Gymrat, wow that is a lot of time at the gym. Pluse 3 gyms? Ours doesn't have classes, so we are stuck with machines and free wts. We do have trainers all over the place.

My dr appointment went ok. I guess. I was a little frustrated. They only drew blood from my finger and then ran a CBC which is just a normal blood test that looks at your red and white cells. I would just like a little more re-assrance than that. They wait for something to be wrong that you notice before they start running tests. I understand their reasoning, but I can't tell if I have anything wrong due to the back pain and my RA. Oh well, at least nothing was messed up with my blood.

Did make it to the gym all by myself. Got in a good lower body workout. My bottom hurts so bad today, I can hardly get up and down.
Tonight is our Christmas dinner with my bunco group. We are going to a steak house so I will have either a grilled chicken salad or a small steak with veggies.

Got to get busy. Have a great OP day!

Rosemary- Wow 4 lbs. thats just so great. Keep up the good work.

Good morning everyone. I have not weighed, yet. We started SB on Jan. 2nd. I do not own scales. Does anyone have recommendations on what type of scales to purchase at reasonable prices...? We had a set of scales a couple of years ago but they weren't accurate. I weighed on my mom's scales the other day and according to them, I had lost 9lbs, but I don't think they are accurate, either. All suggestions would be helpful, since hubby needs to weigh, too.

DAY 3!!!!

I went out with 2 of my very best friends last night - one of them absolutely LOVES desserts and was wanting to split this and split that....I just said NO and did not grieve the gooey loss.

*NO SUGAR NO SUGAR - NO SUGAR ANYWHERE TO BE FOUND :)
*night off for exercise
*STUCK TO PLAN

Today I will just eat a big fat salad, 2 scrambled eggs, fruit, protein for dins with a garden of veggies.........and I run tonight and weightlift.

I spoke with this nutrionist that I hired from England who is amazing - she wins all these dead weightlifting competitions and is an avid raw foodist - she is 60ish I think and has got over cancer many many times.....anyway I asked her to give me a 2008 kick in me arse and I told her what I was doing and she said that exericising is useless unless you couple it with good dieting concessions!!! I got told!

GM! I’ve been quite busy so I didn’t post last week but things have been going good. I’ve loss 4 lbs so far. I feel it’s going relatively slow though…I don’t know. It’s been two weeks since I re-started SB.

I’ve pretty much cut out sugar and starchy carbs. Breakfast consists mainly of plain yogurt and some oats added in, lunch is usually a turkey sandwich with lettuce and an apple, and dinner is always lots of veggies and most of the time it’s fish and tofu. I cook all my food and I don’t eat out anymore because I want control over what I am making. I eat just a serving of everything and don’t re-fill my plate. I don’t snack and I’ve been averaging 3-4 liters of water every day. In addition, I’ve also started Couch to 5K running challenge and am on week 2 (I run day 2 week 2 tonight). So I’m physically active and I’m eating right……does anyone have any advice?

Some good news though, I’m so excited I found some petite workout pants at Target! They are from the Champion C9 line and they are bootleg, petite fit. As someone who’s on the short side (5'1"), this is wonderful! I’ve been wearing them pretty much when I run and I’ve been running outdoors. Although I’m looking to join a gym because I live in MN and right now it’s coooold! :)

Morning! I just made it in under the wire! I glazed this morning and have the kiln firing...need to go turn it up to high in a minute.

I forgot to weigh on Monday, or today...maybe tomorrow! I am really encouraged to read how well everyone is doing...and the losses! Yay!

I will try and get back after I get the kiln up to high and I can leave it to fire off.

Wow Sour - you are doing amazing....you don't have too much to lose....it's kinda like those "last 10 pounds" ...... you sound regular - like a whomp of loss in the beginning and then things slow down - because Mother Nature likes to see how patient we are - and if we are patient we start losing again. Hang in there :)

I read a really good quote today: "it's hard to maintain weight loss", "it's hard to lose" "it's hard to diet": pick your hard.

techwife....Mole is chicken usually boiled 1st then simmered with a very special gravy sauce and the ingredients can vary. Mine usually includes mexican chocolate, peanut butter (some add this some dont), spices like cumin, oregano, cilantro, onion, garlic, a little flour, either chili powder or fresh chilies...like chipotle or chile anchos that have been steamed and then ground up.

Rosemary...who is now suddenly hungry...lol

Good morning..

Im off to a great start.

Congrats to everyone who weighed in and lOST..WHOOO. any loss is a good loss. Remember that. I cheated and weighed in early. I weigh on Sat am after I pee. LOL But my middle day weight was last weeks first thing in the am weight so I am hopeful for SAT. Im tucking the scale away.

Sour-I feel your pain. Im in the same boat as you..work out, eat right and nothing. The only thing I can suggest--and I got that advice here is limit starchy carbs to 1-2. I didn't realize how many I was eating until I took a look at written food diaries. I am adding a lot more protein. Although I haven't weighed in, im thinking optimistic. AND YAY about the work out pants. I will go myself. Im 5'2" and I can only wear capri's or I trip over the bottoms. Thanks for posting that.

Monet--Glad you made it..that was close. What was the deadline for? I'm curious

Mercee-Busy days are good--they keep the mind occupied. LOL Hope you get some time to relax.

Ray-Nice..that's 2 whole days behind you. stay with it. Awesome saying no..Sometime it's hard, other times it isn't. The more you say no the more people stop asking. Rock on.

Michele-I too have the ww scale..was pricey but well worth it. Sticking to the same scale helps to avoid confusion, or so I feel.

Congrats on what ever you did loose.

So I just started a new Wednesday job for the kids fitness facility near my house. On Wed morning i'll be asst Teaching a sports class. I wore my heart rate Monitor (something I swear by and thing everyone should own one) and in the 1.5 hours of cleaning, setting up and teaching the class I burned 313 calories. AND I GOT PAID TO do it. Always a plus. Since I work there, right after thet class I can take the adult fitnes class for FREE. So just by working I burned over 800 calories before 11. My kind of morning.

I am having a power protein Salad (I made up the name haha) It has lettuce, a whole cucumber, grape tomato's, raw broccoli, a can of tuna mixed will tbs dill relish, and a table spoon of cottage cheese. All mixed up. It's huge and filling. It make take me a few hours to finish it. ( i tend to eat small a few more times a day) I did put 2 tbs sugar free dressing with 10g fat because I did burn so much I need it. (ok maybe not need it but it won't hurt)

Hope everyone is having a good day. I am freezing in my house. Im going to snuggle under a blanket and read for a bit to relax.

My coworker just very quietly went to her seat with her afternoon snack which she always gets from the vending machine - it's chips and pop - she is 60 and very overweight......I feel embarrassed for her because she was very gung-ho on going on a DIET and saying stuff like "this is gonna be it - I'm gonna' do it this time and I better smartin' up" and of course because she doesn't have a plan or support she will fail and fail and fail.

I just look at her because I have been her 8,000 times and I know now what I looked like........the best way to help her is to then look the other way to give her her privacy.... because I totally understand!

GYMRAT: :) :) yes you are eating a power salad - I eat a power soup....I love it!!!!

Had some trouble with my computer and couldn't get the reply to work the last time I logged on. Weighed in on Monday and lost 1 pound - down to 185 again.

Would have had a very bad weekend if I'd had any "bad" food in the house! Was wanting it badly (pms) but luckily we live too far out of town to go shopping and just didn't feel up to baking! As it was, only had a few chocolates and some corn tortilla chips.

As of Monday - back on track and feeling good - no cravings.

I'm glad I can come here and read what you are all struggling with and learn from you. Then when I have some bad days, I know I'm not alone.

This week I'm up to 13 min. walking every day (I've been adding 1 min. a week - and I'm on my 3rd week) and I do either some yoga or strength training every day - not a lot of it and I add a bit more each week too. I've also been working on the Kegels - I'm up to 5 for 8 seconds (I've been adding 1 sec. a week too). Doesn't look like much when I write it down - but I've been sticking with it - which means it's working for me!

Have a great week all.

still trying to catch up because I haven't been at the computer since I joined. I must make it a point to check in more often because I like to be in the know. That means reading lots of back posts!

I was riding high on success though.
Ignore my ticker till I update it!!!!
I have lost 8 pounds since I started dieting. I fell one day and ate double cheeseburgers (yes, that was plural). Anyway, I was so disappointed that it encouraged me to go on SB. No real counting, no measuring, no cooking meals just for me and separate ones for my family.

We had spaghetti, and I LOVE vermicelli, and HATE ww pasta. So, what's a girl to do? Steam some finely sliced cabbage!! My 18 yr old daughter chose the cabbage over the pasta too. It was super delicious.

I do hope to get to know everyone better and be able to offer and receive tips and encouragement.

NEWBIES: Welcome to the group! I am new too.

This is going to be great.
And if any of you out there are in the "I have lost/need to lose 100 lbs" group, please send me personal message.
I can hardly believe I have gotten so overweight, but I really want to stick to this and get it ALL off. And I like others to succeed too!

Gotta run.

BTW, for those who are new to SB, I want them to know that I have lost 4 lbs in one week while even having a two egg omelet with cheese twice a week. I cook LOADS of fresh spinach with some onion and mushroom in a small amount of olive oil, then set that aside onto a plate. Then cook the omelet in the same skillet. Put the veggies back in and add freshly grated REAL parmesan cheese. Awesome breakfast, sticks to you, and then I don't even want a snack before lunch.

Lunch is pretty boring but it keeps me on track.
2 cans of tuna, drained. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and/or lemon juice.
Salad of romaine, green, and red lettuce with dressing.
I even use the full fat Ken's Creamy Caesar. But sparingly.

For hot lunch I like the same two cans of tuna added to sauteed mushrooms and onions, then add 1 oz 1/3 less fat cream cheese and grated fresh parmesan. I eat it with steamed spinach.

I keep it simple so that I'm not thinking about food all day and wondering what to eat next.

I hope we all finish great this week.
Carrie

Carrie- I am not looking to lose quite 100 lbs, but I understand exactly where you are coming from. Good luck!!

It is snowing in North Georgia!! Looks like we have at least 1/2 in so far and now they are saying we may get 1-2 in before it is over!!! I'm praying for no school tomorrow!!!!!:^:

Carrie, i just might try that idea of yours with the finely sliced cabbage! i never thought of that. i wonder if some of the pre-packaged stuff they sell for coleslaw would work.

instead of eating it for breakfast, i took a cup of shredded wheat cereal to work and snacked on it throughout the afternoon. it tasted bland, but it was filling and i didn't need to eat any other snacks.

i think my pants are a little looser; i hope i'll be happy at my weigh-in on friday!

Ellen

It did indeed snow here in Georgia...we have about an inch. I am not sure how long it will last, as it seems to be sleeting now.

The kiln fired off this afternoon, and I ran a few errands. Dinner tonight was meatloaf, broccoli with cheese, and whole wheat muffins. I ate too much, I am sure. The muffins turned out really good. I used a recipe that actually calls for self rising flour, but I just used whole wheat, and added baking powder and baking soda.

CHRGRL: That is a great idea to snack on the cereal! I hope the weigh in is a very encouraging one! You are doing great!

THIN: :crossed: Hoping you get a day off tomorrow! :)

CARRIE: I will have to try that cabbage idea! Actually though, you can have 100% durum semolina pasta. It doesn't HAVE to be whole wheat. Just make sure it is not enriched. The better brands are usually made from 100% semolina. And make sure you do not over cook it. It needs to be al dente.

DONNA: :bravo: I think your exercise, and how you are slowly increasing it is great!

RAY: It sure is hard when you have to sit back and let folks make their own mistakes...maybe you will get the chance to help your co-worker eventually.

GYM: Oh! I think I did not write that post very clearly. I was just kind of joking about posting at about 11:55 and saying 'good morning'...it was almost afternoon! I am sorry I peaked your curiosity and it was nothing interesting. :) With my pottery I try very hard not to get pushed into a deadline. Something always seems to go wrong when I try and hurry. Drives me crazy! Pieces will crack for no reason...or the glaze will blister. I much prefer making stuff and selling it. You almost HAVE to take some special orders though.

ROSIE: You got a SB friendly version of your Mole recipe? We LOVE it. I found a carton of it at a international market here, and the family thought it was great. It is hard to find at a somewhat reasonable price.

SOUR: :bravo: Congrats on the four pounds!

MERCEE: I hope work is not too stressful!

MICHELLE/Dtrmnd: I have a Tanita scale I really like. It has the BMI feature, which I don't use a lot, but it is nice to have. My husband likes it. (he lifts weights..) I think the Tanitas are pretty accurate. I paid about $30 for mine, so it was not too expensive.

I have had my Sleepytime tea, and it is time for bed, so night all! Sweet dreams!

Good evening everyone. We have a little snow and maybe some sleet here in Middle Tennessee.

Gym and Ray- thanks for the suggestion about the ww scales. I definitely want to be accurate about how much I actually weigh and especially how much I lose.

Carrie- i am looking to lose about 115lbs. So, I will definitely take this ride with you :) I like your cabbage idea, too.

Have a great evening, everyone!

Hey, Carrie..yeah, I sometimes do the cabbage and spaghetti thing..different but good. I've lost around 120 pounds.

Good morning everyone. Sitting here drinking coffee with my Jackson in my lap. Its ugly and cold outside and rained in the night. Tonight we're supposed to have snow. Guess I'll clean today. I'm glad I got all the laundry done yesterday. I'll also work a bit at getting my treadmill out. Theres so much to put away and I have to take it slowly or it overwhelms me. Imagine having most your house packed up in boxes and shoved into one room. LOL

Ray- You're an inspiration. Seems you're moving right along. How neat you're going to do a race. Glad you haven't eaten any sugar....

hey Everyone,

Sounds like everyone is still plugging along positvely. Thats great.

I woke up really hungry so I made an oumlet with egg starts and brocoli, peppers, 1/2 oz cheese and 2 lil tomatos. I have never attempted something like that. It actually was great, and I made it until now with out being hungry.

I did 60 min of cardio this am, along with 20 min of superset weights and abs. I have today off so its time to relax.

I tried on my summer shorts from this year. In July I had to buy a few other items because I out grew most of them. I am happy to say not only do all of them fit, some of them are even quite big. That shows me I am making progress.

Im sure the limited starch will help..I have this board to thank!!

Enjoy the day!

Hello everyone! I have no idea where the morning went! I did unload the kiln and was generally pleased with it. I had one bowl develop a crack at the lip, which is weird, but not unheard of. I had ten, and really only needed eight, so it is cool. A few pieces turned out quite nice, so I hope to get them uploaded to my shop and try and sell them. I figured out how to convert cups to cubic inches and am checking to make sure the urn I took out of the kiln is large enough for my sister in law's dog's ashes. Too much math!

It snowed a good bit last night, but the roads are clear, so school is in session around here. Not sure if Thin's school is out...some of the counties north of me are closed.

Breakfast was a bowl of shredded wheat, and espresso. It is about time for lunch!

TONI: That sounds so sweet- having Jackson curled up in your lap. Has he settled down some, or is he still pretty puppyish?

Good morning everyone!

Gosh, this is why I love this board....thank you thank you for the motivation and advice. I feel so much better.

I'm looking to join a gym now...currently doing a research on what my best option is. I've been running outside in the evening (with a running partner) but it has gotten sooooo cold here in MN....like 4 degrees at night. So, I need a plan B. Hopefully I'll find a gym soon enough.

When my Dh went out to work this morning though, he said that it was 33 degrees and in reality the kids would probably have been OK to go, but it had already been decided by then! We ended up with 2-2.5 inches here. It was fun! I do not think that this is the end of our winter precipitation for this season though. We still have a long time till spring.

Hi all,

Busy busy day at work. Had a really bad evening yesterday eatingwise. Directly connected to having a stress filled day. Why is my eating so tied to my stress level and please tell me how do I change that. I know I should find other ways to destress, but food is so easy. In fact I have the book, life is hard, food is easy collecting dust on my shelf. Time to dust it off and reread it. Stress filled days also leave me with no motivation to exercise. Boy I'm just full of excuses today.

Tonight I will eat a sensible meal, I will exercise at least 45 minutes, and I will not snack after 8 pm.

Afternoon all. Eating has been pretty good. I had breakfast/lunch together which usually works out best cause Steve works nights and I stay up late. I made veggie and cheese omelets, a piece of homemade bread toast and a small OJ. Snack was a Lara bar.

Gym-I love to have an omelet. I usually make mine with 2 egg whites and 1 egg. And it sticks with me a long time. Now what am I going to have for dinner.

Mercee- Hope you can get your home computer fixed. My DH is really good with them so keeps ours running.

Monet- I think Jackson's in the terrible twos. He's a horrible acting dog. LOL We still love him. Glad your stuff came out good.

sour- Hope you find a good gym..

Ray- Wow those that work out that late are hardy.....

Thin- Lucky you a break for the day.

Rosemary- I have trouble with stress eating too.

Well off I go.

Sourgrapes, You sound like you have the plan down great. Keep up the good work. Wow that is pretty darn cold.

Ray, congrats on passing up the dessert. I pick maintain. Congrats on committing to the race.

Michele, Can't suggest a scale. Mine is digital, but not very accurate.

Mercee, I know how it is when people are misisng. Hang in there. How fun, going to the colleges.

Gymrat, good job on the fitness job. Nothing like exercising and getting paid for it. Don't you just love it when your clothes are too big.

Donna, good job on the 1lb loss and on the exercise. Before long, you will be up to 30 minutes.

Carrie Ann, good job on your loss. Ronzoni makes a ww blend thin spaghetti. It is dark, but when it cooks, it lightens up and you cannot tell it is a ww blen. Delish.

Toni, 1/2 is still good, better than gaining. Glad to see you are getting back to the :tread:

Monet, we got a dusting of snow today. Mainly on the grass. Sounds funny for Ga to get snow.

Heart, I hate slow days, they make me want to eat all day.

Rosemary, Actually exercise is a great stress reliever. Plus you will feel so much better and like yourself more too.

Thin, enjoy your day off.

Our dinner last night was fun. I was so good. I had 1 pork chop, salad, no croutons, and lima beans. Some of them got dessert, but I did not. I had 2 glasses of wine.
Not feeling great today. Really dizzy and sick at my stomach. Maybe my blood sugar is low. We are going to the U of L BB game tonight. Will be fun, going with some old friends. I have chili made, so we will grab a quick bite before we go.

Have a great OP evening everyone. Gosh, everyone is doing so great. I am inspired.

Well yay it's almost night..

I get excited as the day comes to an end because its a sign that I got through the toughest part of the day on a good note. I thankfully don't have a problem with night eating because I have dinner so late. The hours of 12-4 can be awful for me.

Today is another huge success with almost no carbs. The sugar isn't an issue anymore. I have enough sugar free options and just don't miss sugar anymore. I never though I'd ger here and away from all my freaking 100 calorie snacks. Monday I though id miss the rice and crackers but I am actually less hungry with all the protein.

I went to a sugar free, low fat bakery in my area this week and got muffins and a few treats. Those have been my savior. Sometimes ya just want something sweet. They are really $$$ (like $2.50 for a pastry) But every now and then its worth it.

I still am amazed at the level of support here offered daily and even hourly. I'm so glad I joined. I have a lot oh home/gym support with loosing weight but having people know exactly what I'm going through each day is a blessing!!

Rosi-I know about the emotional eating and being stressed. I read a book--I find a great story line can keep me engrossed for hours. Or a magazine. Last year I crochet'd a ton. Can't eat if your fingers are busy. And at the end I could see great progress in the form of blankets and scarves not rolls. Hehe. Good luck. Exercise Is a catch 22. If your too tired and stressed to work out you feel like crap, but working out beats the stress and gives you energy. Some nights I allow just a 30 min work out because "anything is better than nothing"

Toni--yeah the omelet was awesome..I just wish I had more time in the am to cook them. I happened to be off today so i thought what the heck.

This-I had a snow day on Monday and we are going to get a big storm tonight as well. I hope the kids go into school though. SO far we have had 7 snow days and its only Jan.

Ray-My gym is open until midnight. Funny, I once wondered what it was like that late so i went at 10 after a class on evening. It was so peaceful and dead. Any machine was available. it's not a bad option if you hate the crazy 4-8 crowds. The gym was even packed this am, I almost didn't get a machine after my class. All the new people. Hope your day went well!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

Sorry I've been MIA....You'd think that working only 4 days a week, I could get on here!!!

The HUMIDITY is back...it's been raining off and on since last night http://bestsmileys.com/weather/5.gif We could use about three days straight of this nice steady rain! It's fire season down here http://bestsmileys.com/fire/1.gif so it's very important to us.

Here's a really good idea for a sketty substitute...if you have a mandolin, grate up a few zuchinni...it's WONDERFUL with the sauce and you really can't tell the difference. Just blanch it for a few seconds in boiling water...doesn't take long! You can also use the grated zuchinni to make a deep dish low carb pizza...I'll dig up my recipe and post it on here for you!

I'm really getting my exercise running around the office...I'm taking my pedometer to check my steps...I'll have this belly down before I know it!

Tonight was LIVER NIGHT....I had chicken livers and Kate had liver n onions.
We hadn't had any for about a month and it really tasted good!

It's good to see all of you posting and keeping on plan like you're doing. We're all so glad y'all are here...we were getting down to our CORE GROUP and it's always so nice to welcome NEW PEOPLE to our little family. http://bestsmileys.com/love1/5.gif

Here's the recipe...it's low carb, so you substitute lower fat cheeses etc.

DEEP DISH PIZZA QUICHE

4 oz softened cream cheese
4 eggs
1/3 cup heavy cream (I use the fat free half n half)
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
1 tbs chives
1/2 tsp Italian or pizza seasoning
2 cups shredded cheese (I use mozzarella/cheddar mix)
1/2 tsp wet garlic or 1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup lowest carb tomato or pizza sauce
1 cup mozzarella cheese
Toppings to taste (I use pepperoni, sausage, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, whatever!)

Preheat oven to 375.
Beat together cream cheese and eggs till smooth (I use a blender).
Add cream, parmesean cheese and spices.
Spray 13x9 glass baking dish with PAM.
Put 2 cups of shredded cheese in dish and pour egg mixture over.
Bake at 375 for 30-35 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Spread with sauce and then add your toppings.
Cover with mozzarella cheese.
Bake till browning and bubbly (or however you like your 'za!)
Let stand for 5 minutes or so.

ENJOY!

I'm off to find the pizza recipe using the zuchinni...but thought y'all would like this!

This recipe is from Dana Carpender's "500 Low Carb Recipes" and it's quite delicious!

3 1/2 cups shredded zucchini
3 eggs
1/3 cup rice protein powder or soy powder
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 pinch or 2 of dried basil
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
Olive Oil
1 cup sugarless pizza sauce (I use Hunts tomato sauce)
any toppings you like(peppers, pepperoni, sausage, etc)

1. Preheat oven to 350 F
2. Sprinkle zucchini with a little salt, let sit for about 15 min. Put into a strainer and press out excess juices (I use back of a large spoon)
3. Beat together the strained zucchini, eggs, protein powder, 1/2 cup mozzarella, parmesan, basil, salt & pepper.
4. spray a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray ( i use olive oil sprayer from pampered chef) and spread zucchini mixture in it.
5. Bake for about 25 min, or until firm. Brush with a little olive oil, & broil
it for about 5 min, until golden.
6. Next, spread on pizza sauce, then add the remaining 1 cup mozzarella cheese & other toppings.
7. bake for another 25 min or so, cut into squares & serve.

YIELD; 4 generous servings each with 14 gm crb and 2 gm of fiber for a total of 12 net carbs & 22 gm protein. (analysis does not include toppings)

Evening! Dinner was bratwurst that was sent as a Christmas present, 1 slice of ww bread, and sauerkraut. The brats did not agree with me, and I feel sick.

I worked a bit tonight...made some magnets, trimmed a bowl. I may load up the kiln and fire some stuff tomorrow.

I took some pictures today, so will include a couple. The first is a set of dishes I made for my sister. The second is a set of salt and pepper shakers I made for a competition, and the last is the urn I made from my sister in law's dog's ashes. I am afraid the urn is not big enough though. So I will have to remake it for the fourth time! sigh.

THIN: Yeah, but the weather service says little or no accumulation! Dang! I want to make a snow man!

Okay, so it's not that funny, but it sure has been a great booster.

The almost ten pounds Ihave lost have made these impacts:
My loosest bra is now not supportive anymore!
I Used two wear my wedding bands and my engagement ring. Band/ring/band, but I was too large, so I dropped the 2 nd band. Now it's ON again.
My incredible amazing stretching pants would no longer come over my hips without being unbuttoned/unzipped. Now they come down nothing doing again!
My favorite support bra had been put on the loosest hooks, Back to normal now.

Those little things give me the stamina to keep going.
So:
Chrgrl, I know how you felt!! Looser pants. Way to go.

Detrmnd Michele, glad to have another buddy along the journey.

Heart, I've been following your posts and reading the tips you share.

Solly, I will look for the Ronzoni...butr I LOVE pasta, so I may end up having to stick with cabbage and other veggies. I can be all or nothing but balance is difficult for me. A true carb addict.

BOB, cant wait to try the new recipes! I copied them right away.

Thin and Monet, I too am in GA, but a bit further South. The snow was beautiful, but I could tell it was too wet to be good. Just a soon as we got the beautiful covering it turned to sleet. One daughter did mange a 6 in high snow man, who was still surving last night, till a kitty knocked it over.

I have a busy day ahead. Have a great weekend all!

Good morning everyone. Just got up and made me some coffee. Its freezeing cold outside but we didn't get any snow. You all can keep that. LOL. Today is grocery shopping day I hope. Its a big project because the biggest grocery store is over an hour away. Steve comes with me and we shop for two weeks at a time. It seems to take forever. By the time we get it all carried in and put away we're beat. LOL. I've got to be thinking of what to cook for next week.

Bob- There you are. I was wondering if work was kicking your butt. How do you like what you're doing now? Bet you're glad its Friday. The recipes look killer and I may have to make that first one next week.

Monet- I'm swooning over the dishes you made. They're just beautiful. Bet someone was a happy woman. The urn is great. It seems as if it would be the right size, it looks big. I love those frog salt and pepper shakers.

Thin- Good luck on the 2 lbs. a week. Keep that white stuff there.

Gym- A great big congrads. on that 2 lb. loss. How great....You're doing really good. Now keep that up.

Solly- I hope you get to feeling better today and soon. You lucky duck getting your hair fixed. I'm getting a permanet next week and I'll be so glad.

chrgrl- Sugar Busters rule!!!!! Yippee for the 2.5 lbs.

Michele- Oh my gosh what a huge loss!!! You go girl....

Carrie Ann- What encouragement, I love when those happen and am looking forward to lots of those moments

A great big congrads to all you great losers this week. Be back later and have a happy day. Going to save Bob's recipe...

WOo hoO! I remembered to weigh this morning and I am down 4 pounds since Christmas! So all my 'holiday' weight is gone! Very encouraging.

I have not had breakfast yet. And I have not started cleaning the huge bookcase yet. Need to get that done!

Oh, and thank you for the nice comments on my work. I found out this morning the urn is big enough! My sister in law opened the box and found the ashes were in a plastic bag much smaller than the box! (you were right, Michele!) I sent her a picture of the urn, and she loved it, so I will pack it up and ship it!

Be back later!

Yeah BABY!!! I'm down 4 pounds!!! Things must be restructuring within my body because yesterday I noticed when I crossed my legs they stayed!!! That is always the first sign that things are A-CHANGIN'.

I wish I had measured my head because my face looks thinner.

I SHOULD SAY THAT I HAVE COME OFF SUGAR AUGUST 2, 2007 BUT HAVE HAD ABOUT 10 BOUTS OF SUGAR - I STILL THINK I AM DOING VERY WELL CONSIDERING THAT I WAS ALMOST BEHAVING LIKE A FLY BEFORE - EATING SUGAR CONSTANTLY.........

My moods are much much better. And I am diligently working on and succeeding at eating breakfast within a hour of waking up. Yesterday was awful - I think my blood sugar was banging around because I didn't eat enough at lunch...too sparse and it really made me cranky.

Carrie Anne - great results - especially about your boobs being on the loose.

Monet: Wow woman - you are a pro!! I love your pics - did you win the competition!!!!

Chrgrl - rock on !!! 2.5 pounds - that's a Cornish Hen!!!

Gym Ray - I ran last night and went to my club and it was moderately busy - I just hope people start to fall off their fitness new year resolution soon. My club is teeny tiny but it has the best music in the city!!!! I was dancing away with one of the young trainers and we have such a laugh. I am so glad to rediscover fitness!!!!!!!

*NO SUGAR NO SUGAR NO SUGAR - THERE IS NONE TO BE FOUND
*WENT RUNNING
*WENT WEIGHT LIFTING
*ATE QUESIDILLA AND TONS OF FRUIT FOR BREAKKIE
*FRUIT FOR LUNCH
*VEGETARIAN FOR DINNER

WISH ME LUCK ON THE WEEKEND.

Hi everyone. I've been "out of touch" for the last week. Mother fell and broke her hip last Friday, and I spent the entire time in the hospital with her from Friday till Wednesday when we moved her to the rehab unit. Thankfully, the hospital and the rehab unit are all on the same campus as my office, so periodically I was able to run to the office and at least pick up mail, etc. Unfortunately, all meals were in the hospital cafeteria or snack shop for 5 days, so you can guess what happen to way of eating. But I'm back on track now.

BOB the lasagna had to be put on hold, but I hope to make it this weekend. Hope your new job is better. I sure know how awful a stressful job can be - and also know how wonderful it is to get away from the stress.

Hi everyone...just a quick fly by to say hello.

The Sabres 'thrashed' the Atlanta Thrashers last night 1-10. We were on a ten-game losing streak, so did THAT feel great!! I started to feel sorry for Atlanta, but they just beat us a week ago or so, so the bad feeling didn't last long.

Okay...off to make chili.

Good evening everyone. Had a busy couple of days so have been a little scarce. We got our grocery shopping done and came home tired. Had our rotissare chicken and found out we'd forgot to get Steve's medicine at the pharmacy in Wal Mart. So today we had to go back but we tried our new GPS out and enjoyed watching it guide us. I came home and made hummus for the first time. I tried an Easy recipe I found and enjoyed it. I'll have to give you all the recipe.

Monet- Way to go on the 4 lbs. I know its awfully hard for you to lose weight with your medical problems so an extra WOO HOO.

Ray- I'm in aww of you losing 4 lbs. too. Keep up the good work.

Gym- Darn I want those muffins. I've got a recipe for some apple oat ones I've got to try.

Snaps- I'm so sorry about your Mom. I hope she heals quickly. How awful for her. You sound like a good daughter.

Bob- How were those movies? And how did you like your first week on the job.

tech- Hope your chili turns out.

Well we're supposed to have spinach and mushroom pizza.

well today i tried the steamed cabbage/spaghetti sauce thing and it actually wasn't too bad! i added some grated parmesan cheese.

breakfast:
whole grain english muffin with 3 oz pork tenderloin and slice cheese

snack:
grapes
clementine

lunch:
triscuits with tuna/mayo

snack:
SF pudding

dinner:
baked sweet potato with butter
steamed cabbage with spaghetti sauce/grated cheese

I had steamed my cabbage in beef broth so it was a bit heartier. My spaghetti sauce also has extra lean ground beef in it and I make it myself. I made it a little thicker than usual because the cabbage holds so much water.

I have used zucchini strips before too.

Tonight I made beef and barley stew with lots of chunky veggies.
Very satisfying.

I came to a stall with my weight loss...I was ravenously hungry all day Friday and had several things with salt. I know to watch for that since I prefer to weigh every day. If I weigh every day I'm less likely to cheat.

I also had some Russel Stover SF candies, but they are very high in fat so I will try to stach them away for when I am having a super duper craving. Have any of you noticed that keeping even the SF sweets around keeps that old sweet tooth alive and well and craving sugar?
Goodnight.

Morning..... Just having my coffee. We snacked around last night because I had made that hummus and we ate it late. I think I'm actually going to make it though the week end. Which has been my hardest. Remembered I bought a little marinated pork roast I'm going to put on the rotissare for dinner. Not sure what I'm going to make with it. But of course some veggies.

Chrgrl and Carrie Ann- I'll have to try spraggetti that way some time. I love cabbage. Carrie Ann your stew sounds good. If I eat those candies two does me in and I head straight for the bathroom. They're always so good. But I have to stay away from them.

Well I'm off to finish my coffee..... Have a good day.

Morning! I have been sleeping pretty well lately. Unfortunately, my blood sugar has been astronomically high. :(

I threw yesterday, but had all kinds of problems. I only kept a few pieces. I will do finishing on them today. I fired some bisque pieces yesterday, so I will unload the kiln today, and maybe glaze and reload. I am worried because a few of the pieces I put in yesterday were kind of damp and I forgot that and fired it off anyway. :crossed: I am hoping they did not explode!

CARRIE: I agree with you on the SF candies. I try not to eat them very much. Not only do they stimulate cravings for sweets, but they also do a number on my digestive system. I am super sensitive to sugar alcohols. Even just one or two pieces distress me. I just stick to an occasional piece of straight 70% chocolate. I don't crave sweets from it, and it doesn't bother my digestion.

CHRGRL: Your menu looks pretty good, but you might want to add more veggies. Like with your tuna, you could add celery, and maybe some raw carrots on the side.

TONI: That sounds like me..forgetting to pick up something. I am glad you got to play with the GPS though. They are pretty cool! My son uses one for work, and had it on a short day trip we took together once. It was so fun!

TECH: Since it means so much to you, I am delighted the Sabres beat the Thrashers. (besides, I am not a hockey fan! :) )

BOB: How much later is "return later" ? I like the new avatar!

GYM: Happy long weekend to you too! :)

SNAPS: Gosh, I am so sorry to hear about your mom! I hope she heals quickly. Good that you are back on track...stress sure can make it hard!

HEART: I hope you have a great weekend!

http://bestsmileys.com/cold/13.gif GOOD MORNING EVERY BUDDY!http://bestsmileys.com/cold/13.gif

It's a little chilly here this morning. I think it was 42 degrees when I got up. I immediately turned on the heat after going out to pick the Sunday paper off the driveway! I know that's warm compared to what y'all are going through, but that temperature is cold for Florida!

Glad to hear that y'all liked the cabbage version of pasta. I've never tried it, only the zuchinni way.
Like TONI...if I ate those chocolates, I'd be on the THRONE in the http://bestsmileys.com/toliot/7.gif !!!

THE MOVIES....

DEATH SENTENCE with Kevin Bacon was a good movie, but the rest STUNK!
I was so excited to see 3:10 to YUMA, but I'll stick with the original from all those years ago...

I've got laundry to do today http://bestsmileys.com/cleaning/4.gif and I want to get started on it. Went to the grocery yesterday so at least I don't have to be out in the weather.

My first week in my new position was great. NO STRESS....no one yelling and ranting needlessly....I am working tomorrow and will be off on Tuesday
as one of the people I work with took the day off.

I made a meatloaf last night for supper, and today will throw together some swiss steak and that will allow me to have leftovers for lunch this week.
I bought some fresh KALE and will fix that today.

I'm off to get some more coffee http://bestsmileys.com/coffee/1.gif so I'll check in a bit later!

Happy Weekend all..I am happy to report i am having a great weekend. Or so i think)

Is spaghetti squash legal? I hope so because I had it last night with pork chops and it was soo good. It was a great alternative to pasta.

For breakfast I felt like having coffee today and I figured out how to make it taste good. (I have never liked unflavored coffees and they are all flavored with some type of sugar. I added cinnamon and it gave it just a little kick. I was happy.

Not much on the agenda. Just hanging out with my best friend who also does sugar busters so no need to have willpower. Always nice to be in the company of others who are either doing it or are really supportive. There is nothing worse that having those damn diet sabotages around.

BoB Congrats on the no stress job..Always a plus. What do you put in your meat loaf? I do eat my sisters from time to time but breadcrumbs are not legal so just out of curiosity what do you use??

Dang Bob I was hopeing that 3:10 to Yuma would have been better. A meatloaf sounds good. It would great to pack a lunch and use it in.

Gym- Spraggetti squash is legal. You can use whole wheat bread crumbs in your meat loaf. I grind my heels from ww bread up and keep them in the freezer.

Monet- I hope those bisque turns out good. I always check you site out on Etsy to see what you've posted.

OK, I weighed in this morning for my work challenge and it was good, but could have been better. I'm shooting for two pounds a week for fourteen weeks which will put me at 200 lbs. It's been quite a while since I've been under that, so we'll see. I say it could have been better because with the weather this week, I have not been exercising and I've had my share of cheats! Hello everybody, just joined last night, wanted to say what a great site this is and just full of information and wonderful people.

I have been following Sugarbusters since last March and here are the figures:
275/213 and short term right now is to get below the 200 mark.
I had to have cataract surgery and during the routine blood work I found out I was Type 2 diabetic. So on to the diabetic doctor and he recommended Sugarbusters. I have really been pleased with it and with my lab values as they come down each time. I did have to be put on oral meds (6 of them) diabetic, high bp and high cholesterol.

I am a 52 y/o grandmother of 2, married, work full time in a nursing home.
That's about it for now, gonna read some of the posts and get to know you!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!

It's almost time for THE AMAZING RACE FINALE and I'm so excited!!!
This is probably my favorite reality show. Anyone else watch?

The temperature is dropping again...we got up in the mid 50's today, but it's going to be another cold one...THIN....I just don't think I could live in COLD WEATHER like that again! I've been here 20 yrs and am just now starting to get cold when that time of year rolls around~!

GYM...Like TONI...I use whole wheat crumbs. I buy the VIGO brand. I use
regular hamburger meat, plochman's yellow mustard (about three good squirts), 2 eggs, a lot of onion and 1 to 2 cans of stewed tomatoes.
Mix it up really well, shape it into two loaves and bake at 350 degrees for and hour or more. Oh...when I get the loaves in the pan, I mix one can of tomato sauce (no added sugar) with equal water and pour over top to keep it moist.

TONI....Yep...that's what I'm taking for lunch this week...What did you cook today?

SPARKLE...WELCOME....I think the problem with my not liking the new version....I really don't care for Russell Crowe.

I'm off to get snuggled and propped up in the four poster. I'll watch some of the GIANTS game until THE RACE comes on...I'm not a PRO FOOTBALL fan, but I do LOVE THE MANNING BOYS!!!

EVERYONE HAVE A GREAT EVENING and STAY WARM!!!

Evening. I got a lot of work done in the garagio, even though it was FWEEZING in there! I was SO cold, I swear I shivered off a pound or two! I hope it is warmer tomorrow so I can glaze.

Tom is feeling pretty crummy so we did not go to church tonight. I had no desire to clean off the car (which is on the driveway because I was all spread out in the garage and there was no room to put the car in there! :o ) and then stop and get gas, since I am running on fumes...so I stayed home too.

It has been an eventful day! This morning, Kaeleb grabbed Justin's mug of hot Tang off the table and spilled it all over himself. Thankfully, even though it was pretty warm, it was not hot enough to burn him. For some reason, he has been mad at Justin ever since!

BOB: Vigo makes a WHOLE WHEAT bread crumb? I have never seen it! Where do you get it? Add some celery and you got my meatloaf!

TONI: You will have to tell me what you like and don't like on my etsy shop. I get discouraged because I don't sell much, and I wonder why. *I* think it looks nice, and all...but obviously I am doing something wrong.

SPARKLE: :welcome3: We sure are glad to have you join us! I too am a type 2 diabetic. I have to take a few meds, and right now my doctor is messing with my thyroid meds, so my blood sugar is all over the place. I can tell if I cheat- the bg goes right up! Looking forward to getting to know you!

THIN: Can you believe how cold it is? Brrr! You are going to do GREAT with the challenge at school! Your team is gonna win! Yeah! Go for it!

GYM: I love spaghetti squash! It is definitely ok! I am the only one in the family who likes it, so I don't buy it very often. :(

well today i tried out my total gym. i kind of went through the video and figured out what level/hole i needed to be at for each different kind of exercise. i wrote them all down so that on tuesday hopefully i can do a real workout. i think my current workout plan is going to be alternating a total gym workout (upper body/abs) and walking on the treadmill with tae-bo, which i feel gives a good enough lower body workout in addition to the cardio.

breakfast:
oatmeal with canola butter, cinnamon, splenda, and blueberries

lunch:
salmon patties (salmon, egg, shredded wheat 'n bran cereal)
peas
romaine salad with ranch dressing

snacks:
SF pudding
pear

dinner:
the smallest sweet potato ever with lite butter and steak seasoning
grapes

i'll probably eat more later, but i haven't figured out what yet. possibly some cottage cheese and then some hot cocoa.

monet, i know i need to eat more veggies. during the week i usually do well because i almost always have a big salad for lunch at work. i don't seem to like veggies that are easily snacked on....such as celery or pepper strips. i bought some jicama at the store and tried a little and wasn't too thrilled. maybe it'll be better with some dip. unfortunately my favorite veggie, butternut squash, is a high GI food so i'm trying to go without it for a while.

sparkle2much, welcome to the board! i just started doing SB jan. 2nd.

It's cold here for sure tonight although not as cold as in Green Bay for the game. I can't wait to get in bed (we have a waterbed) and the thermostat was turned up a couple of days ago so it will be so warm!

Monet: I don't have to take thyroid meds, just the diabetic, bp, & cholesterol. My dr hasn't made any changes to them yet.

Not a holiday for me tomorrow, so off to work I go. Hope everyone has a very safe and nice Monday.

Thanks for the welcome!

Just another check in. The Sabres lost to Toronto last night. At least we broke our ten game losing streak, but are probably starting another. :( Now I'm watching the Packers. Not a great Green Bay fan, but I DO love Brett Favre. I read a great article about him and his wife in Guideposts. I liked him before, but now I think he's awesome.

Today was pretty good for me. I made the kids and Derek pancakes...but I had three slices of bacon and an orange amidst all the maple syrup! :encore: Then for lunch I had leftover chili from last night and a big glass of milk and for dinner we had a delicious steak with onions and a gigantic salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. I've had loads of water today and am making some green tea to warm up with. Not sure what the exact temp is here, but its in the single digits and enough to freeze your nostril hairs. :snowfight

We cleaned our bedroom today and sorted out THE CHAIR that has all of our clothes on it and I fished out about six pairs of slippers, that are in the washer now, from under the bed and we rescued our stepper from the closet and I plan to use it every day now...and not as a clothes horse!! :exercise: 160's, here I come!!

Oh, and we had Viggo sightings last week!! Poor guy, his step mother passed away, so he was in town. For those of you that don't know, Viggo Mortensen's father lives around the corner from me and his mother lives in the next town over. There are many Viggo sightings at the post office, library and the grocery store, but I have never had a Viggo sighting. :( My friend, Marianne had her first sighting last week at the store and spun right in to my shop to tell me about it and said, "What if he comes in for a haircut?" :faint: I would die. That's all there is to it. I would just die. But, I don't think I need to worry about that because they say he really keeps to himself when he's in town and I doubt he'd go to my barber shop for a haircut. But it would be nice... :s:

Hey Everyone.

Thanks bob and toni for the ww breadcrumb suggestion. I always throw out the ends of the bread so grinding them up is a great idea. How simple.

Welcome Sparkle..this is the place to be. I just joined myself last week and it's great!!

tech-I know the chair you speak of..once a month I uncover mine. Funny how everything ends up in a heap. i too have (as you put it) nostril har freezing temps. Ha I love that.

Chrgrl-Good luck with the gym. Again props for working out at home.

This Congrats on the weightloss. last week is over..just take each day as it comes. it will be amazing at the end how much 2 pounds here and there add up.

I have to say although my day was "legal" it wasn't by any means good. I did spend 2 hours at the gym..1 hr kick boxing and 1 hr dancing.

Breakfast-1/2 cup fiber 1 and 1/2 c Straw with 1/2 cup milk
Lunch-1/2 c egg whites and broc and cheese oumlet with coffee
Snack-apple
(here is where I went wrong) I was with a friend out shopping so we got sugar free choc waffers and together shared the pack.
Appetizer-2 oz full fat Cheese, ww crackers and grapes
Dinner-2 oz hunk of beef, sugar peas/w shrimp, 1/2 swt pot, salad w/ flax seed no dressing, and broc.
Dessert was SF pudding..but huge amt. (we got the make it yourself kind) I am so full it hurts that will teach me
I actually feel sick..So overdoing it was awful. Im drinking my nightly green tea because we finished the pudding so late im afraid to go to bed yet. Although it's not the worst day i could have had, im ashamed of not having less. That just reminds me that food and I still have a huge battle to overcome.

Supper: chicken pot pie for hubby, I don't know yet for me

Sparkle: A little tweaking I'd do for you menu..

First check the bran flakes' ingredients to be sure there are no hidden sugars and switch brands to Kashi if you already haven't. I'd also switch to Splenda and half n half in the coffee and add at least one fruit to your breakfast, preferably two.

I'm not sure about the cupcake. I would have an apple with it

PB&J can be legal if its on WW bread, NSA peanut butter and SF jelly. Again, have it with some fruits or veggies. Water would be way healthier than Diet Dr Pepper.

What did you end up having for dinner? The two main flaws in your menu are no fruits or veggies and way too many grains. The ideal basic meal plan for every meal is two fruits or veggies and a protien...such as a breakfast meat with cantaloupe and/or berries for BF...a sandwich on WW bread with lots of lettuce and a slice or two of tomato for lunch...dinner, maybe a big salad with a slice of chicken breast. Snacks might include another fruit or some nuts or a yogurt (checking first to be sure it has no hidden sugars). Keep the grains healthy (WW, stone ground, oatmeal, etc) and limit them to one or two servings a day and make sure to drink your water.

I feel hypocritical critiquing your menu because I'm the worst at staying on plan. Getting on plan is a hard thing to do, but once you're on it, you'll feel so great and healthy.

Keep posting your menus! We'll only steer you in the right direction!! :)

Whew it's Monday - did not do well Friday night or Sunday - suprisingly I did awesome Saturday and Saturday night which is my binge night usually....

I have been doing some really deep thinking and I think my issues with food and behaviour just don't make sense to me anymore.....it's habit at this point and I need to know myself now - it's just ridiculous .......

* in terms of NO SUGAR - I just don't eat it except when I have my "moments"
*Exercise - I love what it's doing for me inside and out
*eating plan - I love that too

My eating has been most of my life about sport or hobby - it's just food for poop's sake :)

Need more of a connection and support here - so if you can for now please respond - am feeling very down today but not give-up-kinda-down - just raw.........

Good morning everyone. Stayed up late last night and didn't hit the bed till about 1:00 or after so I slept in this morning. I did pretty good this week end except I got a hold of some Kashi cookies and ate them. I'll never have those in the house again. Somethings I'm weak on and just got to not have them in the house. I also had a hard time with Steve eating all night. Usually I could care less but I was hungry and having a hard time and there he was eating popcorn and stuff. I got a little snappy.

Ray- I'm sorry this is an off day for you. I really enjoy your posts and think you're doing so well. We're just about the same weight. You're a little lighter than me. Some times its good to think your food issuses out. Put them where they belong. You're doing this girl friend. You're strong and good.

sparkle- I agree more fruit and veggies. But you'll get the hang of it. I have an awful time getting my veggies in. I'm not much to knaw on raw ones either.

Gym- Good thing the week end is over and now we've got a new week. We can do it. You didn't get this way over night.

Tech- Doesn't that feel so good to get the your bedroom in shape! I swear you can sleep better. I hope you get the rich and famous in your shop and they love your haircuts and come back lots. Yum your steak dinner sounds so good.

chrgrl- Oh I'm so glad you got your total gym. I still haven't got my treadmill out of the mess in the back room. I hope you ate more I'd be starving on what you had.

Monet- I think your stuff at etsy is wonderful. I love the platter and that white mug is really different. I love my tea mug. I think everyone spent they're money at Christmas. Now they should be ordering for Valentines Day.

Bob- I loved the Amazing Race. Who did you want to win? I thought the girl on the couple that won came a long way from trying to milk a camel. But I was kind of hopeing for the Father and Daughter team. It was exciteing. Can't believe its over. What the heck am I going to look forward to on Sunday night.......

Thin- Congrads on the two lbs. You can do it. Just one day at a time.

Well guess I'll sit here and finish my coffee. Can't believe its already 11. Have a happy day.

Another morning wasted...kind of. I got Kaeleb up since his parents are both sick and he was crying and they were sleeping/ignoring him. I fed him breakfast- we shared it- of ww french toast with agave, and he had some cheese too. Then he played with his toys while Tom and I drank espresso. Tom is still sick. I need to glaze today, but I am going to go to the grocery store first and try and get him a decongestant. He found out the store brand Nyquil no longer has pseudoephedrine in it, so doesn't have a decongestant. No wonder he couldn't sleep!

RAY: I sure can relate. I have been feeling very down for a month or more. It did not help when my husband got laid off. I would not have known though, because you always sound so upbeat in your posts. You have been a big encouragement to me. I hope you feel better. I am just so thankful you splash your sunshine in your posts during the day, I would really miss it if you quit. I apologize for not being better about responding...

TONI: Thank you for the kind words....

SPARKLE: I agree with Tech..more fruits and veggies.

TECH: You know the program well... what can we do to help you get back on track? You don't have much more to go to goal, do you?

 I gotta run to the store! I will be back when I get the kiln on!

YAY! I have my Etsy store set up. I know I'm not supposed to link it, but if your interested in seeing my TWO items for sale, go to Etsy.com and search either Green Bay Packers or New York Giants. My sweater and hat sets should show up. ;)

Have to take Shelley to the doctor...she may have an ear infection. Just what I wanted to do on my day off...I'd rather play Nancy Drew with her. Last time I had a Monday off with the kids, I had to take Kyle to the doctor. I love winter... :(

Hey Toni and Monet - thanks for the supporting comments!!! Sometimes that's all I need......I can be going along so good and then I get bonked on the head for some reason.....it would be so nice if I could climb up into someone's lap and have them stroke my hair saying "it's going to be o.k." but who the heck does that unless they are a perv. Monet that really is a bummer about your husband being laid off - I'm sorry to read that.

Toni thanks always - it's just crazy - alcoholics and druggies get to stop ingesting their addictions - we don't - we gotta eat - it's got to be the toughest thing.......

Weekend was ok. Eating was pretty good. Maybe a little more wine then I was supposed to have. Scale was up this morning, but I have been in the bathrooom all day. I'm sure it will be down tomorrow. It is so cold here. Today is was 11. I'm ready for Spring.
Sorry, replies will be short, I am swamped today.

Monet, great going on the 4 lbs. Bet you were excited. Sure glad Kaeleb wasn't burned. Kids are so funny. How is Tom feeling?

Carrie Ann, nothiing better than the clothes falling off. Keep up the good work.

Toni, I hope you are all bundled up. it sure is cold.

Ray, congrats on the loss. Good job. Yes, got colour, red. It is bright, but will fade out in a couple days to a good colour. Hang in there girl, we all have our ups and downs. Just gotta make more ups. You can do this, one day at a time.

Gymrat, those muffins look ok to me, we need Monet's opinion. If you can't find ww bread crumbs, here is what I do. I throw all my heals, low loafs, etc into the freezer. When I have time, I toast them in the toaster and throw them in the blender. Wall-la, ww bread crumbs, Keep them in an air-tight container and they last a long time.

Heart, how was your weekend?

Snaps, hope your mom is getting better.

Bob, Come on girl, I'll take 40 any day. Try my 11 degrees. I'm not feeling sorry for you.

Thin, congrats on the 2 lbs. That's what was on your plan, so that is great.

Sparkle, welcome to our group. I looks like you are doing great with this WOE. We used tohave a big time nursing home volunteer on here. She will pop in sometime.

Chrgrl, glad you like your gym. I think I will be using mine tonight as DD was off today and went to the gym and DH is down in his back. I won't want to get out in the cold by myself.

Tech, I like Bret Favre too, but I line the M anning boys like Bob. That would be exciting to have a star come into your shop.

OK, I hope I didn't miss anyone. Got to get busy here. Have a great OP evening

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

It was an ABSOLUTE ZOO at work today, but still no stress! I LOVE MY JOB!!! I'm off tomorrow after filling in today. So I will definately be by during the daylight hours.

MONET....YES....VIGO makes whole wheat. They don't always have them at the store I get them at, so when I see them, I get two of the large canisters. Want me to get you some when I see them again?
So glad the MUNCHKIN didn't get burned. I think that's funny that he was mad at Justin after it was his fault! I just love kids at Kaeleb's age. There is NEVER a dull moment! http://bestsmileys.com/misbehaving/3.gif

TONI...I wanted the Grandson and Grandpa to win. The old guy did so well all through the race. I really think had they not forgotten their bag at the store, they would have won. The couple that won deserved to win though...most of the race, they were in the back of the pack...I really enjoyed this particular season...hope the next on is just as good.

GYM...I forgot to tell you that when I make MEATLOAF I use anwhere from 1 1/2 to 2 lbs of meat. That's why I said 1 to 2 cans of stewed tomatoes.

JACK....did you see what I said about 3:20 to Yuma? I just didn't think the acting was any good at all.

RAY...I'm so sorry that you're in a down mood today. I think we all fell that way at one time or another. We're always here for your support. Just yell!

TECH... How's the shop doing?

SPARKLE....

CHRGRL...where are you that it's so cold?

I'm off to fix some supper.

1 can garbonzo beans
1 tsp. peanut butter
1 T. lemon juice
salt to taste

Drain beans, reserving liquid. Place drained beans and remaining ingredients in blender. Blend until smooth, adding small amount of reserved liquid from bean, if needed.

Hey everybody! Yep, the ole menu needed quite a bit of work this morning, but I was running a little late. I am not as strict on the plan now as I was a year ago. There are very few veggies that I like and even those have to be cooked until all the vitamins and minerals are out. I can't stand crunchy or raw veggies.

Gotta buckle back down a little bit more, gettin too lax here.

Holla at y'all later!

morningstar veggie burger (no bread) with one slice cheese and low carb ketchup

Good Evening...!!!

Today was much better than yesterday. I was technically off, but i worked my part time Job to avoid being bored and eating too much. The menu was pretty simple

B-1/2 c Egg whites scrambled
S cottage cheese (ff) and applesauce with Cinnamon
L-PB&J on sprout bread with cucumber slices (1 whole)
S-1/2 c fiber 1 mixed in strw/ban ww yogurt and 1oz Chicken for protein
Dinner was fun..I actually cooked. I sauteed scallops and shrimp in olive oil with Mrs Dash and lemon with Green beans and put it over noodles. (WW) I know I had 1 to many carbs but I really wanted noodles with my dinner.

BOB thanks for the recipe update. I will keep that in mind.

Toni-Your 100% right..It took my whole life to add this weight up..so expecting it to fall off or change all things that quick is unrealistic. Im like you, I know there are some food I have no will power over so I can't even keep them around. CHoc coved almonds is my downfall. I used to go to Trader Joes and that night the whole container was gonezo. I haven't cheated so Im happy but everytime I go to that store they call my name.

It is beyond frigid here also. Thank gosh i go to the gym in the am..The last time it was this cold and I went at night my sweaty hair froze..NASTY. LOL

I also Tried to get creative with my evening beverage. I used a lemon for dinner so I put it in a cut and added boiling water and a tea bag for some fresh lemon tea. I hope it tastes good and doesn't sour itself ..that be my luck.

Y'all look at this and see what you think could be used instead of sugar:

TANGY BROCCOLI SALAD

3/4 cup Miracle Whip Light Dressing
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp vinegar
1 bunch broccoli, cut into florets (6 cups)
6 slices Oscar Meyer Bacon, crisply cooked, drained and crumbled
1 small red onion, chopped

Mix dressing, sugar and vinegar in large bowl. Add remainin ingredients; mix lightly. Cover. Regriderate at least 1 hour before serving.

Substitute Splenda for the sugar? Just wondering how that would taste.
Trying to work in some more veggies here.

Sparkle: I bet the splenda would be fine in that recipe. The only time I don't use splenda is in baking...such as pumpkin pie. I tried it...and don't recommend it. I'm with ya on the raw veggies!! My gramma used to pressure cook veggies till the life was taken right out of them...jsut the way I like them!!

GymRat: Your menu sounds great. I like green tea at night. A couple years ago I had iced green tea...about a whole pot of it...every day and my mood was so wonderful for the wintertime. I really need to get back into it again, but I kind of got sick of it after a while.

chrgrl: Let us know how the stew worked out!

I'll try the Splenda, I use it to make the diabetic chocolate cake. I don't use it to sweeten my tea, coffee or use it in cereal or oatmeal, it just isn't sweet enough for me. I use sweet n low and I know I use too much of it.
I'm going to try the salad, bad as I hate raw veggies.

Well, it's no breakfast this morning, other than 3 cups of coffee and lunch is a pb&j on WW. Once I finish this powdered creamer I think I may try powdered milk for creamer and see how that works. Sounds nasty and it just might be, ha ha.

BOB, yes, I saw your comments on the movie. We will probably watch it on pay per view when it comes out. DH loves those war moives. Glad the job is going to great.

Tech, no,not in my book is there ever too much wine.

Gymrat, I could eat the whole bag of that candy and still not have a problem with that!

Toni, I have to go back and find your stew recipe, I have a concoction in the crock pot now that I hope is stew.

It snowed about an 1" this morning. Rudy loved it. It was trying to eat it and kept hopping around in it. Traffice wasn't too bad. Did not go to the gym last night, but instead we bundled up and took Rudy for a walk, about a mile.

Good morning all my buster buddies! I slept like poop last night. I think it has something to do with the fact Tom was restless and couldn't sleep. He got up a couple times, even tried to sleep in the recliner, but couldn't. In addition, I had loaded up the kiln and fired it late...like I turned it on about 9, so I was concerned about it. I wandered down to check it at 4 and it had turned off. I finally fell asleep after that, and just woke up. I feel badly that I missed James. He has been home for three weeks, and is heading out to DC today...his plane left at 9:30.

I need to wander down and find out if Tom is making espresso. Then find some breakfast. I will be back later, and will do replies then!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Stew
Poultry Mexican Dinner
Submitted by GINGERFISH

I love this stew! It is so easy and leaves me feeling satisfied. I use 3/4 cup as a serving. If it is too spicy for you, substitute a can of diced tomatoes for one of the diced tomatoes w/chilies.

Ingredients

1 onion, chopped
1 16-oz can black beans
1 16-oz can kidney beans
1 16-oz can corn (drained)
1 8-oz can tomato sauce
2 14.5-oz cans diced tomatoes w/chilies
1 1.25-oz packet taco seasoning
1-2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
Directions

Mix everything together in a slow cooker except chicken. Lay chicken on top and cover. Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. 30 minutes before serving, remove chicken and shred. Return chicken to slow cooker and stir in. This is good eaten with cheese, sour cream, or tortilla chips.

It is a cold, dreary, depressing day here again. Rainy and 34 degrees or so. Yuck!:brr:

I am currently weighing in on Sunday mornings, because of going to visit MIL most Sunday afternoons it keeps me from overdoing it there if I know that I've done well during the last week. Well, I opened the kiln. I had several BIG disappointments. I had two platters in it...one was for a special order. I had glazed it and the person it was for did not like it, so I was reglazing it and hoping to sell it on Etsy. I had remade the platter for her and it was in there too. The handles cracked on the new one, and the old one...well, I think the glaze was still wet because it just cracked in two! That is about $160 worth of platters I am going to have to toss. I had a few other pieces that turned out fairly well, and added two new listings to my Etsy shop... I just feel like I can never get ahead. Some days, I wonder why I bother even trying.

Good evening everyone. Supper was a hamburger steak made with lean hamburger meat. I made 2 of them and will take the other tomorrow for lunch. Also sliced up a tomato and had that. I did use a little A-1 on the steak, but did not pour it on. I put it on the side and dipped the meat in it.
I have read/heard that's what you are supposed to do with salad dressing also.

I took all my meds tonight and will try to remember to take them in the morning like they are supposed to be taken.

Hope everyone has a very pleasant evening.

Good morning everyone. I'm thinking I will go out for lunch today and get a salad at a place I can fix it myself. I will save the other hamburger patty for tonight's supper. On my salad I like tomatoes, purple onion, egg, cheese,
ham (or turkey), bacon bits and blue cheese dressing. Since this will not be a buffet or all you can eat place this will work out pretty good for me.

Y'all take care today!

Happy Hump day ladies...:) The week is half over..Whoohooo

This week for me has been beyond a challenge, and i'll admit I haven't been as willing to try. I haven't eaten sugar or anything, but I have been quite ok with the high fat sugar free chocolate. It is the bad TOM but still I got through it last month. I used to be big about how those little things like candy were only for instant gratification and I need to look back at the big picture. The good news is I ate all the candy I had so I guess there isn't any temptation around me.

Thanks to my new job I have to work out 4 times today so that should keep me busy. Yesterdays problem was I was out shopping for a good chunk of the day. I brought an am snack and went to Ruby Tuesdays for lunch and I just had the salad bar w/cottage cheese for protein. By the time I got home I was dizzy and over hungry, so I ate quick-PB&J on toast with Pears. That just made me hungrier and I went for the candy. DInner was late and we ate out. I was so tired of Chix salad I went for linguini scampi and sauteed chicken w/ broc. I only ate half but I can't guarantee it was ok.

Today will be easier to plan because in between I get to come home. I did get rid of 3 pairs of pants because when I put them on they were very big. :) That is the overall big picture for me.

Sparkle-Good luck with the salad bar..that what I did yesterday.

MOnet-Good luck with the klin today. Hope things are better today.

Thin-Its cold here too but at least we have sun..I'll send good sunny thoughts to help the dreariness. That makes me miserable.

TOni-glad the perm came out good..I never had luck with those..YAY green tea..I made a cup last night and fell asleep while it was cooling off..OOpps I drank it this am..Hopefully it was fine. HAHA

Heartmom-Good luck hun and good vibes for you and your husband. I have no stress and can't always "do well" so props for what ever you can do. Keep your head up!!

Everyone have a great day!!

Good morning ladies,

I have been so bad, I haven't been to the gym at all t his week. Hopefully, I will get there tonight. Eating yesterday was horrible. Some Reece hearts called my name over and over, and I really don't even like them. Then I had a screw driver in the hot tub, and that turned into 2 more. Today will be better except my tummy is upset (go figure).

First of all, BOB, How abouth those CATS!!!! They beat yoru Vols last night. I know you are not a BB fan, but I never dreamed it would happen, not with Lofton hitting like he was. I actually went to bed before it was over. Glad I did, I would have been a nervous wreck.

Monet, I'm so sorry about your platters. That is so sad. I know what you mean about not being a good nurse. DH was down in his back Sunday, I he was driving me nuts.

Heart, hang in there. God provides. I will say a prayer for you. How are the kiddos doing?

Toni, thanks for the recipe. I have one very similar to that w/o the corn. Does your perm look pretty?

Thin, good idea weight at your MIL.

Determined, hope your head is not goofy feeling today.

Sparkle, that salad sounds good to me.

Gymrat, with working out 4 times, you are going to be throwing away lots more pants. I had some candy problems and I don't even have TOM. Go figure.

Got to get some bills paid and get some work done. Have a great day

Morning,

Hey Sparkle - your lunch sounds really delicious and vitamin packed - good for you!!

Solly: I hate when candy is chatty. The only way to quiet them on some days is to muffle them in the back of your throat. hahahahahah I read screwdriver as the tool screwdriver and thought 'hmmmm wonder what is wrong with her hot tub.'

I ate a small chicken boob with whole wheat pasta and an orange for dinner and that was it!

Breakfast: small chicken boob with veggies

Lunch: veggies with feta cheese

Dinner: tuna and something

I also did not go to the gym last night - can you speall L.A.Z.Y. ..... I watched American Idol which always cracks me up. Tonight I will go and begin the workout roll: Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat.....

I think I can fly...............................

Morning, er, oops! Afternoon! Actually, I am glad that this morning is gone. What a nightmare! I was awakened at about 3 by my dear husband who could not sleep and thought my snoring was the culprit. So he asked me to roll over...which I did. But then I could not sleep. He was so restless, he kept getting up and stirring around, then trying to come back to bed. I finally got up at 4. Kaeleb was awake, and literally screaming. He was not upset..just checking out how big a volume he could get. I went in there and tried to calm him down, but it just upset him when I went to leave. I got him up, carried him downstairs and fixed him a bottle of warm milk. He went back into the bed with out too much fussing, and finally fell back asleep about 5. I cleaned in the kitchen, and made a recipe of Roman Rice and Beans. I ate some cereal, then a bowl of the beans and rice (BAD idea....my tummy rebelled at spices in the wee hours of the morning!) Then I tried to lay back down again. I finally fell asleep and slept until after 10!

GYM: You can check out my etsy shop by searching under users on there for ellenmccorkle. That should bring up my shop. I would post a link, but I am not supposed to, and while I am sure no one would say anything, I need to follow the rules. :)

I'm 51. And I'm thinking - only THINKING - about entering a fitness competition just because there are such negative stereotypes around women over 40 and especially over 50.

It would be quite a HUGE commitment. What do you guys think? seeing that you would be supporting me through all the growing moans and pains and quitting and starting and crying and screaming and achieving and happy and.......

I know for sure I will not be doing the broccoli salad. I did try some today from the salad bar (raw) and I might as well gone outside and picked leaves off the bushes and ate them. Raw broccoli is nasty. My daughter was with me and she said "you gotta dip it in something". So I dipped it in a little ranch dressing, but all the ranch dressing in the world won't make it taste any better. Cooked until it's limp and all the crunchiness, vitamins and minerals are out, then we'll talk.

Anyway, the salad was good, lettuce, tomato, ham (no turkey), egg, cheese, sunflower seeds, bacon bits and ranch dressing.

Tonight will be the leftover hamburger patty from last night. I don't know what will be with it.

I remembered my meds this morning - did everyone else?

Talk to y'all later!

Evening..I finally got through an entire day treat free. I can say my day was awesome. I worked out a ton both job wise and personal. I hoofed up and down my stairs (3 flights) 5 times doing laundry and moving stuff.

B-c cottage cheese and applesauce w cinnamon coffee, water and green tea
l-left over linguini w/chicken and huge thing of cooked broccoli
s- orange and 1/2 pb sandwich
s-11/2 c glycerna cereal and cup milk
d-4 oz chicken, brocolflower (so hybrid vegi my sister bought) and brussel sprouts
D- sf pudding and green tea

I am quite tired and ready for bed but getting through an entire day "good" again assures me im back on track. Sometims it just takes that one whole day to know.."I CAN DO IT"

Funny story..I went to work this am and my boss said..there is something different, you look really good tday. (mind you its a fitness job so I wear stretchy pants and a tshirt and un showered hair in a ponytail. My face got slimmer and I think she just couldn't figure that out. Have an awesome nite.

Yea! another good day for me too!! I had someone at work ask me how much I had lost so far!! I just wanted to hug her neck!! Things like that really make me want to keep going!!:trampo:

I have a question... I heard someone say that you could make a pretty good apple crisp with sugar free apple pie filling and low sugar instant oatmeal. How bad do you think this would be just to have a very small serving? and would I need to add any butter or anything to the oatmeal before I put it on top of the apples? I bought the apples and some weight control cinnamon oatmeal tonight. I can at least make it as a treat for Craig and the kids, but should I steer clear?:chin:Thanks in advanced for you opinions!!

GymRatandStillFat
01-23-2008, 10:39 PM
I dunno but it sounds yummy..Id think it was fine as the weight contrl oarmeal is sugar free. The only reason it wouln't be ok is instant oatmeal has a high GI ans spikes the blood sugar. I don't know if that would matter in apple crisp.

I have a bunch more hats posted on my Etsy store. I've gotten it down and can crank one out in about an hour and a half, uninterrupted.

Eating has been so-so. Its so hard to keep produce in the fridge when your food stamp allowance for the MONTH for a family of FOUR is only $180. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate any help I can get, but I remember Shelley's father, who never worked a decent job in his life and was a family of ONE, getting $300 a month. Don't get me started on the $25 a month he was supposed to pay me in child support but wasn't enforced because he was on welfare. It just irks me that Derek, who has been working hard for a couple of decades, contributing to the system via a paycheck, gets so little but the one that was a total drain on the system gets so much. :dunno:

Anyhow...we're totally out of produce except one banana that I'm putting in Kyle's lunch with his PB&J, so my eating has been horrible. I had coffee for BF, Ramen noodles for lunch and linguine alfredo for dinner. Not one ounce of fruit or veggies and no money for it until the first. :(

techwife
01-24-2008, 07:21 AM
OH! OH! OH! I almost forgot the GOOD news. Derek got a response to a call he made to Rite Aid because he heard they are hiring new technicians to fix THEIR one-hour photo machines because they just bought out Eckerd's and Brook's drug stores. He remembered Derek from one of the jobs he had ten years ago at a Kodak company named Qualex. This guy used to work for Qualex, then, too, but left for the same reasons Derek did and remembered his reputation of the guy that can fix anything and would work 80 our work weeks to get the job done. He apologized and said, "Now, it may be a week or two until you hear from HR, but you will be hearing from them...do you know anyone else that needs a job?" In other words, they're hiring more than one person. It looks good and I'll be happy to get back into providing for ourselves again...trust me...so will Derek.

Keep us in your prayers!!

That is very good news indeed! I am hoping for the very best for y'all. A couple of years ago I was laid off after 12 years at the same job. I drew my unemployment and got food stamps and for me and the 2 grandkids I got 299.00 a month and that was getting a weekly check from unemployment.

Busy morning with meetings. Made it to the gym last night :cheer: Should get there tonight also. I walked off and forgot my protein shake I was going to have for breakfast on my way to the meeting. Ate some pepperoni bites (made with turkey) instead of stopping at McDonalds that was right next door. Opted for a banana when I got here in lieu of cheese and crackers. Hope lunch gets here quickly.

Ray...where do you live in Canada? I live next to Canada across the river from Kingston. We go there on our anniversary and stay at the holiday inn and go to the casino in Gananoque because 'what happens in Canada stays in Canada' Food stamps are an assistance program that comes in the form of a card that you swipe like a debit card and it's for people that are either on welfare or unemployment or otherwise unable to bring in an income. First of the month, they reload the card with your allotment. It is specifically for food, though...no alcohol or cigs, not even paper towels or diapers. Just food. The items you purchase are automatically separated at the register and you pay for the non-food items with your own money. Derek was VERY upset the first day he used his card and I can't blame him. He's been a hard working man for 25+ years and has always fended for himself. We are praying very hard that he gets this job with Rite Aid. Heck, I just want more produce in the house!!! But we're a strong couple and in the end, its making us even stronger going through this together. Not even so much as a misunderstanding between us and that makes me very happy. He have happy, healthy kids and a good marriage and as far as finances go....hey, its just money and bills. We'll get through it and I have a strong faith in God that he'll provide what we need if we're patient and trusting in Him and let His plan unfold for us. He hasn't let me down yet...although there were times in my life I thought He had forgotten me, but then I always seemed to come across that Footprints poem as if God Himself had put it there as a reminder. All prayers are welcome and appreciated... :cloud9:

10 more lbs to go before I hit that elusive 200 mark!!!!! I have set the date to accomplish this by my next diabetic dr appt which is March 11.

Tech: thinking of you and your hubby, I am praying that he gets the job very soon.

Have a very pleasant evening everyone!

well, yesterday i cheated a bit. it was a crazy day at work and i knew i was going to be there late, so i had one of those campbell's soup at hand things (creamy chicken) which contained white flour. it was only 130 calories so i'm not too bummed about it. last weekend i also had some bean salad that had corn in it, but all in all i don't think i ate more than a tablespoon of corn.

i did a real workout on the total gym today. it was kind of awkward, but i was definitely feeling the burn. i couldn't remember exactly how to do some of the exercises but i didn't feel like putting i the DVD so i kind of just improvised. i need to get one of those charts that has a picture of all the exercises.

breakfast:
shredded wheat 'n bran with splenda, cinnamon, and skim milk

snack:
hard boiled egg

lunch:
Toni's stew
1 cup 1% cottage cheese

snack:
apple

dinner:
sweet potato with butter and steak seasoning
Morningstar veggie patty with cheese and low carb ketchup

snacks:
yet to be determined. i may have a smoothie to work in another serving of fruit

mercee, i have the 1st biggest loser DVD and it is really good! i haven't done the low impact workout but i have done the high impact one and it really gets me huffing and puffing!

for those of you who drink protein shakes/drinks, what kind of protein stuff do you buy?

techwife

Chrgrl: Your menu is awesome. When I'm doing the whole protein shake thing, I usually get whey protein. Only because Monet swears by it, so it must be best. ;) Monet knows her stuff.

My sister just called me to tell me my last aunt, my favorite aunt, died. She was 93. I am not sad for her, as she is out of pain now, but I am sad that she was kind of like the end of my any connection with my childhood, if that makes any sense. I am hoping I can work out something to go to the funeral in Chicago..but it will be hard with Tom out of work. Please pray for us, if you pray. Thanks.

Evening Everyone..WOW I have a lot of reply's. I have been away from the comp all day. Today was back to my nanny job I had been off from for a week. As far as food I did fine, but my other doet the cash one. Well I blew that out of the water today. OOPS So much for only buying what i can pay for right now. Most of it is stull for my appt when I move out this summer. Im stocking up. I did go pants shopping though because my pants are all getting un comfy because they are sagging. The good news..I bought as size 12..I was an 16 when I started this. And they aren't even tight. I didn't have to jump, wiggle or hold my breath..they were a little more money that id have lked to spend on jeans but at this point Im just happy to have smaller sizes.
Me today menu
B- Cottage cheese (cup and applesauce w/ cinnamon) Coffee
L-3 oz chicken, Brussels sprouts and brocoflower- WW Vanilla yogurt w/cut frozen blueberries
S-sf cheesecake (80 cal 1 g fat), Orange
d-Was in a few stages. I was out shopping so I had a south beach diet meal bar..no sugar in it, cup of noodles (ww) when I got home, and small bowl of glycerna cereal.
not the most nutritious dinner, but not much to be done.

Now on with the reply's...

Toni-Have fun with dsl..I couldn't do dial up. god bless ya.

Ray-Yeah..I know what you mean. I didn't say anything. It made me smile..I know she didn't mean anything mean by it..more that I looked different. Hope the running tonight went well. I skipped the gym in order to shop.LOL

Tech-WOW Im keeping you in my thoughts. Good luck. That's not a lot of money for a family at all. I know for only myself to do this diet I spend a huge amt of money every 2 weeks, and often I am at the store in between. Good for you for keeping with it the best you can. I hope your husband gets that job. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Michele-Its actually not a conspiracy. Damn..LO l I looked it up--New members aren't aloud sig's. It takes about a month for the option to come back on. It has to do with spammers. I guess we must prove ourselves before we can sing stuff. HAHA

Chr-I know the feeling when your out and about or stuck working and have nothing to eat. All things considering not a bad cheat. Awesome that the total gym is going well.

Sparkle--wow just 10 more to 200..great. Small goals help me as well. yay cereal at dinner

Monet--I'm sorry to hear that. I will keep up good thoughts for you as well. best of luck

Solly--Thanks. yeah the complements are nice..but I like the results for personal reasons. Your lunch sounded great. I'm hungry again. Hope you had a great day!

Mercee-Good luck with your workouts. At first im sure it will be tough--But just take it day by day and I'm sure as time goes on it will get easier. Just don't over do it. (this from me who worked out 4 times yesterday) haha

Beth--That's awesome. Go girl. now your famous..haha Cute pic

Rosi--I wasn't motivated tonight either..oh well tomorrows another day..another chance

:hug:lots of happy thoughs and prayers are needed here tonight. Im sending good vibes, thoughts and prayers

Good morning everyone, cold and a little icy here this morning. My daughter wants to go to lunch at a local Chinese restaurant buffet today. I have no problem not getting the rice, but some of the other stuff might present just a little bit of a temptation. Since I have a mini goal of losing 10 lbs by March
11, perhaps it won't be too bad.

Don't forget to take your meds this morning!

TGIF!

Did not go to the gym last night, it was just too cold. I did get 40 minutes on my owne :tread: and 15 minutes of lower body work. I was going to get up this morning a do the :tread: again, but my knees were hurting as wella s my back and I did not sleep well. Hope to get to the gym on Sunday.
We have a wedding tomorrow afternoon. Nothing else planned for the weekend. My scale was up 2 from yestrday but I am out of diuretics only got to take 1 yesterday and 1 today and that will do it. I sure hope they are in the mail today or I will be up 10 by Monday.

Mercee, good for you getting some DVD workouts. I have the Leslie Swansom (something like that) Walk off the Pound 3 mile and really like that one. I love the show TBL too.

Toni, staying in the same place is good in all facets of life sometime. I'm glad you are not going downhill either

Beth, I'm glad those pot holes have not knocked you out of the wagon. Sometimes Bob goes so fast you can't hop back on. I'm going to check out the pic as soon as I get done here. Now we have a celebrity on here.

Ray, you are really getting into this running thing. Something I could never get into.

Monet, I like those marketing thins. Easy money. I did a personal opnion poll once on mouth wash. I got paid $60.00 but they have never called me back. Good luck on the job calls for Tom, Hoping they turn into interviews. I am so sorry to hear about your aunt. It is hard to lose part of your past even though you know it is best for her. Senidn prayers you will find peace.

Rosemary, I have never thought of adding hot sauce to the pork skins. I love hot sauce on anything. Hotter the better.

tech, I love your way of thinking. I have the foot prints poem all ove rmy house and I even have a bracelet like it.

Sparkle, now that was not a very good breakfast. Believe in yourself and you will make that 200 mark by your goal. You can do it. I'm not good at a Chineese ret. as I only like General's Chicken or Bourbon chicken. I guess yoou could get some meat and veggie dish. Ask them to hold on the corn starch.

Chrgrl, don't beat yourself up. You made a smart choice as far as healthy and good for you. It could have been a fast food hamburger and fries or a lot worse. Good job. I use a Whey protein, vanilla flavor. I get it at GNC. I don't know the name of it. I mix a scoop with milk, strawberries, blueberries (all frozen) and a little oj. It holds me until lunch.

Gymrat, don't get too bummed about the gain, it is probably muscle. As much as you work out, you have to be building muscle and it weighs more than fat. Just look at your new size and know you are losing all the while.

Got to run. Have a great day and a great weekend. If I don't get back later, have a great weekend and stay warm.

Happy Freakin' Friday Beauties!!!

TECH: You crack me up! "What happens in Canada stays in Canada." I live in the city TORONTO. I have this feeling that when I grow up I'll be relocating to the States or something. I remember once, long time ago there was a mini-recession in Toronto and I could not get work to save my soul. I had to go on welfare (gulp) and go to the food banks. For me, I just felt so deeply embarrassed. This went on for 9 months. So I don't know all what your husband is feeling but I do know what it feels like to have that bit of freedom taken from you. We gotta eat!!! Your attitude of love and faith is fantastic though and it's gonna be temporary -- a birdie told me!!!! :) I lean more towards Buddhism if anything at all and I will definately pray for you!!!!

GymRat: That sucks about 1.5 pounds. Just ignore the little &**%$$$* - Shopping is the new running, did you know???

Monet: I'm sorry about your Auntie. Yes I understand you about the loss of her is the tie-in with your childhood. It is all sweet sorrow in memory. I hope you can find a way to get to say goodbye in person or spirit.

Rosemary: All I can say about exercising is that I have always done it but off and on - this is the longest I have been ON - since September 19 - I joined a fitness club that is circuit training. I find a way every single day (only takes seconds) to juice myself up motivationally - it's in a pumped up song, a saying, a tender vision of something (anything sometimes!!) and the recognition that if it's not now it never will be ---- because LAZY lives too close to me!!! There is also something quite exhilerating (sp) about going against that vicious/nasty/pig-faced voice in my head that sez DON'T DO A THING - eat fat and lay around!!!

heehee Solly - up 10 by Monday - that's quite a lot of water!! I'm totally assuming you were being funny .... hmmmm but maybe not??? What are diretics for? Make no mistake. I hate running :) However within each run when it feels good it's like being happy-drunk and when I finish I am HIGH for a long time - it really does waste away the narly voices and stress!!!! Good luck and think thin at the wedding this weekend!!!

**** last night I went running and had a tough workout with the weights. I have earned my soreness today :( I ate famously again last night!!! and this morning I had baked salmon with rapini - for lunch it's salmon and whole wheat pasta.

My son is in big grappling tournament in Detroit - he's ready as rain for it - he is just a sensational inspiration....yah baby yah!!!!!!

I'm sooooo glad it's Friday! I hope we get our W-2's with our paychecks today so I can go this weekend and file for my tax refund. We're gonna fix our garage door so I can actually park INSIDE the garage for a change again! That would be nice in this 14 degree weather we have here in North Alabama today!! Brrrrrrr! :coolsnow:

Thanks for all the WTG's!! I'm really trying to find some motivation lately, and this was a positive thing for me and I'm hoping it will help me. I'm really stationary as far as weight loss right now and it's getting frustrating. I am exercising and eating (for the most part) OP, and the scale just isn't moving. I know I should be thankful it isn't going UP, but it's so hard to stay motivated when you don't see and downward progress!!! I'm really just in a funk about it and that's dangerous for me because that's when I start eating crap I shouldn't... so I'm really trying to get positive and get on track and not let it sabotage me again!!

RAY - I did my first 5K last May with my kids and my dad. I really want to do that run again this year and beat my (horrible!) time of 43 minutes! But if I don't get moving soon, I will not be in shape enough to do it !!! WTG to you for signing up for them, and GL when they get here!!!

ROSIE - I'm having a hard time staying interested in BL Couples, too. I'm a really huge BL fan and watch it all the time, but the couples one hasn't really captured my interest like the others. I'm having a hard time with exercise motivation also... if you find something that helps motivate you.. let me know!!! :)

MONET - So sorry about your aunt! I know what you mean about childhood links... and also about being happy for her. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

GYM - WTG on the new pants! Doesn't it feel great? I was a size 20 when I started SB the first time and got down to a loose 14 before I fell off the wagon. Now my 16's are zippable, but not breathe-able!! UGH! It makes me so mad!!!!! That extra $$ for the pants was totally worth seeing the smaller size on your tag!!!

SOLLY - I haven't fallen off the wagon yet... BOB is hitting those potholes, but I managed to put on a seatbelt! It's discouraging when the scale isn't moving and my pants aren't any looser, but I know eventually I'll see a loss in both.. it's just a matter of holding on until then!!

TONI - Girl get your seatbelt on and sit by me... we're in the same wagon! I hope you see progress soon!!! :)

In order to try and motivate myself... I'm going to set myself a mini-goal with a reward of a new pair of shoes. I'm going to give myself until Valentine's day to lose 5 pounds. That's a little over 2 weeks, so it's a safe amount of weight to drop by then. I think the incentive approach might work for me!

Well I'm off to do paychecks... I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday!!!

Hey Beth.......that's funny - that's what I'm doing too - every 10 pounds gone I will buy myself some shoes!!! I saw a beautiful pair yesterday and told them I would see them in 7 pounds!!!

Don't eat crap - you've come such a long long way and you're so gorgeous. I hate you :) If you just prime your mind to find something inspirational today or tomorrow it will show up - give it a try.....'cause we're born to move - that's what I think anyway and when we don't we get sad as hell!! and I think it's so true of that cliche - that boredom is the devil's workshop..........maybe it's even here somewhere that you will begin again!!!

P.S. Sparkle - what's a pork skin???

ray xo

sparkle2much
01-25-2008, 08:01 PM
what's a pork skin you ask? Well let me tell you. Sometimes called pork rinds, it is fried pork skin. It comes in a bag like potato chips, they can come plain or in flavors ( I like the plain and then put Louisiana Hot Sauce on them).
Sometimes when I make up tuna fish I will use pork skins for "dippers".
Or I have crushed them into crumbs and used them for coating chicken, fish, pork chops. The bag I had the other night had 80 calories, total fat 5g, cholesterol 20mg, sodium 400mg total carbs 0g, protein 8g, no sugar.
Sometimes I will get the jalapeno flavored ones, but my fav is the hot.

I'm gonna work on posting a weight tracker, but until then I'll just do this:
Start: 275 (March 2007)
Current: 210
Mini Goal: 200 (to be reached by March 11, 2008)
Long Term: 150

It's cold and rainy here tonight, my favorite kind of weather!

YAY my sig is back..Whooo

Hope everyone had a good day. My day was nice and busy. I went to the library to pick up a book on hold and noticed they were having a sale. After browsing I ended up buying about 8 books for a buck. Well, a buck a piece. All in great condition and by authors I love. I was excited..I didn't even care i bought 2 duplicates. for a buck who cares i'll donate them back./

I ran into DD for a coffee this afternoon and got the kids munchkins. Those damn choc cream donuts were chanting my name. Too bad I just walked away. Twas a great feeling. I haven't been to DD since I started cause I didn't know if I could do it. I can.

My food was decent-
B-Cottage cheese and applesauce
s-cut blueberries and van yogurt
l-cup shrimp in veg oil with seasoning, sauteed with peas and broc.
s-sf pudding
s-3 pc ww weight waters toast w/ pb&J and pear
D-i am stuck..I'm having a whole wheat wrap with veg humus but I don't know what else to have. Im so bored but tired. Maybe bed is the better solution.

I passed on the olive garden tonight because I know I wouldn't stick to it. Id have the bread and the soup--I find it best to avoid the temptation.

Time togo relax and read!!

Hello and good morning everyone! I got up at my usual time, 5:30am, why I don't know, I am off on the weekends, but anyway went ahead and went to sprawl-mart and got the grocery buying out of the way. While there went ahead and had my hair washed, the ends trimmed and blow dried. Just a little treat for myself. And bought 2 new pair of pants, didn't try them on there, but they were on clearance for 3.00 each. Really they are for warmer weather, but I thought I would try them on when I got home. Well I did. They are a size 18/20, elastic waist, pocket on sides, you've all seen those kind. I just knew I wasn't going to be able to get them on, but I DID!!!!!!
They may be too big by summer. I could not believe it!

Bkfast: Atkins Advantage fudge brownie caramel bar and a diet dr pepper. This is the first time I have tried one of these kinds of bars. It was160 calories, total carbs 17, 9g fiber, 8g sugar, no sugar alcohols

Hubby had to work 1/2 day today then we plan on going out to eat. I am going to vote against a buffet.

Hey everybody! Hubby and I went to Lonestar Steakhouse for late lunch.
I had the smallest filet mignon on the menu with a baked sweet potato with butter only. Didn't eat all the potato. Also had 5 grilled shrimp. It was very good and I am still stuffed!

I have some pinto beans soaking overnight that I will cook in the crock pot tomorrow with some skinless smoked sausage. Will cook some brown rice (not instant) to go with the beans.

I made buckwheat pancakes for breakfast. I am out of cottage cheese and my yogurt supply is slim. I have to have lunch on the fly so i figured Id have a good breakfast. Instead of oil I used applesauce and I subsituted eggwhites for the egg. It was almost fat free because I also used skim milk. The mix has 1 g of fat but not to bad. And I only ate 2..I made 4. I have breakfast for tomorrow as well.

I have 2 birthday parties today. So exercise is bult in again. Gotta love getting paid to work out.

Hello everyone. Just had a piece of peanut butter toast for breakfast. I'm running late with. And put on a pot of pinto beans to cook. Hope to make the leftovers into bean burritos this week. I've also got some shrimp thawed out so I can make a salad with shrimp on it. I need to get eating more fish to. Don't know what I'm doing this afternoon guess I'll just wait and see.

Sparkle - That bar should have 5 grams or less in the sugar dept. So it isn't a good SB thing. Have ya got your beans on to?

Monet- I'm so sorry about your Aunt. I'm glad you get to go.

I made WW pancakes this morning, only 1 egg in it, but a whole cup of buttermilk. They would not be something I would eat on a regular basis. I made hubby 2 big ones and myself 2 small ones. I could not believe he liked them, but of course smothered in syrup I would have liked them a lot more also, ha ha. I put 1/2 tablespoon of grape jelly on each

The pinto beans are great! Hubby finished off the brown rice. I told him all I have to do now is get him off the white bread.

Well, got one more load of clothes to do, so I'll talk to y'all later!

Hi Everyone,

I had to go out of town on a family emergency. My sister had surgery
(she's fine now) and since I'm the only family member not working
right now I went to help her though it. I did the best I could to stay
on program but with her grown kids and neighbors bringing in food
I didn't do real well. I weighed when I got home and I am down a pound
and a half from when I started. Everything considered, I'll take that. Now
I want to get back to a better way of eating. One thing I have realized
is I am going to need more accountability than the plate thing. I some
times eat kind of cafeteria style, some of this and later some of that.
I have decided to count points ala Weight Watchers but eat only the
Sugar Busters plan food. Have any of you done this or counted calories
while using Sugar Busters? I brought back a George Foreman grill my
sister gave me. She got a larger size. I am going to try it out tonight.
I have to run to the store for at least a few things and decided to get
some lean pork chops as my first try on the grill. Do any of you use one?
If so and you have any simple recipes that are legal please pass them on.
I am going to try and go back and catch up on the posts I missed over
the next couple of days. So far I only read the posts from today. I hope
everyone is doing well and having success with the Sugar Busters plan.
I am sooooooo glad to be back home. SMW (SlowMovingWoman)

I used my GF grill a lot when I first got it, but not so much anymore. I have done pork chops, chicken and fish on it. I would also do onions and bell peppers on it also.

Supper tonight was breakfast with an omelet which had sauteed onions and bell pepper in it.

Everyone have a nice evening and I will talk to y'all tomorrow!

SMW: i follow the SB plan but log all my calories at the spark/people website. i don't trust myself yet, and i eat a lot of small things throughout the day instead of sitting down to meals on a plate.

breakfast:
shredded wheat with skim milk, splenda, cinnamon

lunch:
Toni's stew
strawberry smoothie

snack:
apple

dinner:
low carb wrap with turkey bacon, mayo, soy cheese, and lettuce
steamed cabbage with spaghetti sauce and grated parmesan cheese

snacks:
yet to be determined. probably a SF pudding and maybe some peas.

Good morning everybody! Don't forget your meds this morning.
No bkfast this morning, I'm just not hungry, but am taking one slice of WW bread with peanut butter on it for a snack around 9am. That's when the BS will start dropping if I don't eat something.
Lunch: pinto beans left over from yesterday (no brown rice this time)
Supper: don't know yet, hubby is out of town so I will not be cooking very much.

Have a good one!

Happy Monday Ladies.

Weekend was ok. Wedding was fun. The food was delish. I did have some Chicken Cordon Blue and a small amoutn of al gratin potatoes, but I did pretty good. Had 1 bit of cake b/c a friend made it and wanted our opinion. Cleand house all day yesterday and ran some errands. I was so sore and hurting all weekend, I did no exercise. I feel better today and will go to the gym tonight or take a long walk since it is supposed to be nice today (around 50's) and rain tomorrow. Anyway the gym is always packed on Mondays.
Breakfast was 2 hard boiled eggs (out of protein powder), snack will be a banana, LUnch is left over pizza with veggies made on ww crust and apple. Dinner will be over fried chicken legs and veggies.

Slow moving woman, glad you are back with us. I did the WW points and ate SB food. But knowing i Couldhave other foods on WW did me in. I had a GF grill, but the plates did not come out and cleaning was a mess.

Toni, Is the party this weekend? I know you are counting the days to see your son.

Gymrat, Olive Garden has ww pasta. You could always just not eat the bread, sald is ok, CHicken Marsela would be ok.

ray, no I wasnot kidding about the 10 lbs. If I don't get 2 water pills a day, I retain water like crazy. Can't figure out why either.

Beth., I think the incentive approach is a great one. Now you have something to strive for. I know how you feel about not Losing. My meds keep me from losing hardly at all. I work out, eat right and maybe 1 or 2 pounds a month. Very frustrating. Hang in there those new shoes are calling for you.

Sparkle, I like the hot pork skins. Have you tried them? You made good choices at Lone star.

Monet, glad you got to go to the funeral. See you Wed.

Thin, the only exercise I got this weekend was cleaning and ironing and laundry. Not much.

Chrgrl, Wow you are prepared and planning ahead. That is the secret to this WOE. Good job.

Bob, Have you seen the Holiday with Camron Diez? I thought it was cute. Have a nice day off.

I've been here too long, got to get some work done. Have a great OP day!

Good morning everyone!! I've been BUSY crocheting this weekend to add to my Etsy store. I'm attaching a few pics of my little infant hats.

This Saturday at the shop I was totally swamped!! I actually had to shoo away three customers because I couldn't fit them in!! I had about 10 haircuts and a perm!! It was insane! And boy, did I need the money! My little shop, which is about the size of a good size kitchen, costs $175 a MONTH to heat and I'm not even warm! Its awful! Makes me glad we heat our house with oil!!

Anyhow...gotta get something done around here. Its my day off and Derek's gone to Syracuse to work for the company that laid him off for two weeks. They needed is help and we needed the moolah. He'll be home at night, but I am looking forward to a day of eating apples and oranges and watching the Food Channel!! :woohoo:

I can't post the pictures because they're too big. Story of my life.

If you go to Etsy.com and type in Miami Dolphins or Buffalo Sabres, you'll come to one of my hats or a sweater. Click on my name Tiny Tuques and you'll see all of them.

Monet: If I'm breaking a rule here, just let me know!! ;) I don't mean to...

Holy Man!! I ate waaaaay too much on the weekend but it was all good food. Weekends are slowly making me mental!!! I don't have structure but you would think that's when I would be kindest to myself.....through the week it's the stupid work world but I'm so amazing with my plan and the weekends I'm me and you would think it would get better - sigh - ~!!!!

Anyway I just spent the morning researching Alli.com - it's a new diet "pill" well really it works on the digestive system - not the brain or heart - so nothing speeds up or anything. It's an orlistat which means it blocks fat - kind of like having a cop in your intestine! The side effect is if you eat too much you leak and get gassy and have to poop quickly. They recommend you bring a change of pants when you first start it. No thanks - great idea but I just don't want to humiliate myself anymore......darn!!!!

Ray: Be warned...my niece tried Alli and talk about working the digestive system. (warning, this is gross...if you're eating lunch, look away) She uncontrollably pooped her pants every time she cheated and ate something with fat in it. And, from what I was told, it wasn't real poo, but total grease. Gross. I can just see that happening to me in the middle of a customer. :fr:

Just be warned...

I have a little free time today. My sister is a teacher, as is her husband and son, and they are all at work. My other sister is supposed to come over in a bit to visit. Then my OTHER sister is flying in later. And my OTHER sister lives in California and is not coming in. My brother arrives tonight. We all have some 'issues' that I hope will get sorted out and healed....

My brother in law spent a lot of time reading labels and trying to find foods that would be ok for me to eat. He is a sweetie. So I had some Kashi cereal that was a bit high on sugar...5 grams...but much better than other choices for breakfast, and a carton of splenda sweetened yogurt. It is almost time for lunch, and I am not sure what I will have. They have 'wheat' bread that is not 100%, or ciabatta rolls my brother in law got for me because they have no high fructose corn syrup, but are made with white flour! :yikes: It can be a minefield, can't it? :)

TECH: You have not broken any rules that I can tell! ;) Congrats on the busy day! Enjoy the oranges. I went hunting for fruit here, and all they have are some apples. I would love an orange right now.

Monet - Thoughts and prayer for you and your family.

Tech- I saw your darling hats on Esty. Wonderful job.

Ray- I took the prescription Alli and its just like Tech said. You could cough and poop, it was awful and it never got better. So I quit. It did help me a bit at first. Makes you afraid to cheat. LOL......

Well I've had my fiber today with fiber one cereal and beans for lunch and just now some pistachios.

WOW!!!! Toni and Tech,
Re: Alli
That is REALLY REALLY sensitive stuff for poopin'. BUT on the other hand you would NOT CHEAT - only if you like to look hideous. Now I'm waffling because I would be too scared to cheat and fat is my problem - nothing else - I know I eat too much fat.......but on the other hand it would be humiliating if you started dribbling.........I don't know now.......
