4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 cup salsa

1 can reduced fat cream of mushroom soup (condensed)
1/2 cup reduced fat sour cream
Directions
Add chicken to slow cooker.
Sprinkle taco seasoning over chicken.
Pour salsa and soup over chicken.
Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.
Serve with rice.
NOTES:
You may use half the packet of taco seasoning (I have started doing this to reduce sodium content myself)
Some slow cookers cook faster than others. Mine is a true slow cooker (have had it over 10 years.) The newer ones cook a bit faster and you may have to adjust your cooking time based on that!

Hello everybody. Well it seems like I just could not stop eating once I got home. Maybe cause hubby is out of town? I don't know. But here it is:
2 slice WW cheese toast, 1 bowl of bran flakes with 1 sweet n low and 1% milk and 3 cups coffee. I hope the eating is over for the night.
Lunch was at Quizno's today and it was a small classic club on wheat bread.
I didn't eat the beans I had brought for lunch.
I am going to try the slow cooker salsa chicken. I love to cook in the crock pot. Put it in there in the morning, come home from work-supper ready! I just replaced my crock pot at Christmas. The one I had I had bought in 1986 and was fine except the lid finally broke. For some reason that model had a plastic lid and it had been cracked for awhile. Then finally it broke into.
Replacement lid not available, so had to get a new one.
I hope my binge for the night is over. Don't forget to take your meds!

Have a great evening!!

Good morning Sugar Busters!
Got to the gym last night for a lower body workout. I walked the dog for 30 minutes and he walks at quite a quick step, then ran to the gym. This morning I could not sleep due to my neck and back so I got up and put on my back brace and walked on the :tread: f0r 30 minutes. Will go to the gym tonight.
Br: 2 hard boiled eggs
Snack: banana
Lunch pbj on ww bread, celery with bleu cheese dip.
Dinner, Rigatoni. (ww pasta, 93% lean beef, cheese, spagheti sauce) and a salad.
I have to get an epidual in my neck today at lucnh time. I can't wait. Hoping this gets rid of all the numbness in my arms and hands. Just wish he could do my neck and back both, but he can't.
I am also meating with some type of therapis to get some back exercies and hopefully she can tell me if I am doing something at the gym that I should not be doing.
The scale was down 2 lbs today. Hope it sticks.
Sparkle, have you tried Quzno's new shortbread sammies? They have 200 calories. Not sure about the bread.
Toni, you go ahead and hug the stuffing right out of them and Please thank you son for his sacrifice for us. I am very grateful. Give hime a ghug for me too.
Ray, I thought about trying thre Alii, but I take lots of stuff now and did not want to add one more. But on the other hand, if it makes you poop, I might look into it. ha-ha. Weekends are hard for most people. I like the routine of the week, it keeps me legal.
Monet, you have to do with what you have at the time. How nice to get to see all of your borhters and sisters. I hope you work out your issues, life is too short.
Thin, hoping you see a loss next week.
Michele, sending prayers for Thomas' surgery.
Tech, how great your shop was so busy. I hopeit continues.
Mercee, Happy belated birthday :balloons: It is nice to realize how blessed we really our. Glad you have a new Gn to share your day.
Gymrat, I would try to have 2-3 fruits a day. How bad can it be for you? If you see you are not losing, cut it back.
Got to get this day started. Have a great OP day.

Morning everybody,
Just reporting in with not much to report. Had a gorgeous weekend here in San Antonio finally. But I am still in couch potato mode <sigh>. Eating wasnt very good either.
Decided that we will invest in a treadmill next week after pay day. I have been hesitant because I dont want to pay megabucks and it become just another piece of exercise equipment that collects dust in my house. So ya'll tell me do you own a treadmill and use it regularly and really find it a good workout. A gym membership would not work for us, very busy schedules and hubby works nights and I work days we barely see each other.

Morning everyone. Eating has been okay. I'll weigh in tomorrow but think I messed it up over the week end so I'm not looking forward to the scale.
Rosemary- I love my treadmill. My neice gave me her really nice one for a gift. Right now its up in our computer room and I can watch tv while I walk on it or listen to books on my walkman.
Solly- You rock girl. 2 lbs. is great. :bravo: Keep up the good work. I can't believe you're having trouble with your neck. You poor thing you always seem to get the painful stuff. I hope the shot helps allot.
Gym- Yep 2 or 3 fruits. Spraggetti squash and butter sounds good.
Michele- Hope everything is going okay with Thomas.
Thin- Hope when the water comes off you'll have a good loss.
chrgrl- Your menu looks yummy.
sparkle- That salsa chicken looked good. I may have to try it soon.
Well the temps are suppose to drop today with possible snow and rain. I hope not cause they're coming out to put new gutters on our place. We've waited for weeks. So hopefully this won't mess it up. But we are getting some good winds right now. Be back in a bit....

Morning all!!
Michelle- You and Thomas are in my prayers.
Solly - I hope your neck feels better after you see the DR. I really love how despite the odds you keep going you are truly an inspiration.
Gym - I usually eat 2-3 fruits a day. The sugar from fruit is natural.
Toni - A world of thanks to our son for his sacrifice.
Well ladies I got my treadmill last night and was able to workout on it. My brother-in-law came and put it together for me. My hubby, sisters and a group of friends paid for it for me it is a really nice one it was able to fit in our van so that's how I got it set up so quickly. I really have a great family and friends.
Now I can work out everyday if I want to. Yipee!! I hope everyone has a great OP day.
Rosemary - Go for it and get the treadmill.
Mercee

Toni - I set my treadmill up in the family room so I can watch TV and workout at the same time too.

Thanks guys..yeah I have about 3. I like my am applesauce with cottage cheese..I try to have an afternoon orange as a pick me up..and at some point I have blueberries with yogurt.
Its hard with convenience foods sometimes. I spend a lot of time out of the house driving ans so i use quick portable snacks. I don't always have raw veg's but i always have fruit. I need to go to the store and get raw stuff.
Rosi--Good luck with the treadmill...Im sure it will be great to have in your house. Props if you can work out at home..I never can. I have never actually owned a treadmill..but I have more dvd's that I have used once. I am not self motivating. It might be good to walk and watch tv instead of veg though. Good luck.
Toni-Good luck on the weigh in tomorrow. I almost know at weigh in if I gained to lost..I just get a feeling. Hope its a loss. And yup spaghetti squash was delish.
I worked out for about 40 min today..I was a few min late for class. A great work out. Different. Boot camp of sorts. We had all kinda of drill and because it's where I teach my kit fitness classes, we used the kids scooters to work hamstrings and glutes. Boy am I already sore. Im working only until 1..today is going to be great!!
Mercee--YAy another home gymer. Good for you. Not having to go out in the cold and being sweaty will be great. Run on...LOL
Solly..YAY congrats on the 2 pounds. And yay for the gym. Good luck with the spidural..It sounds painful but if it susposed to help then great.

Morning everyone! After the 2 pieces of cheese toast and the bowl of bran flakes last night I didn't eat anything else. That filled me up and I guess it sure should have, ha ha. That was all before 6pm so I was kinda hungry this morning. Ate bkfast before leaving for work and it was 1 piece of WW toast, 1 scrambled egg and 1 piece of bacon.
I forgot to take my meds!!!! Darn it and I had been doing pretty good these past few days remembering.
Solly: I haven't tried the sammies at Quizno's. I hesitate cause of the bread, but I sure could eat 2 of them with no problem.
Gotta go - will talk more later!

Hi everyone,
Solly - right on Slim!! No - I waffled a bit yesterday but I think Alli would have a very negative impact on my lifestyle. I just don't want to poop in mid conversation with someone. I hope the needle in the neck thing helps. What has happened to you that you need this for???
Thin: I bet you dropped weight again but it's covered over with your period. I used to gain 6/7 pounds. Well maybe 40 pounds :) :) :) each period.
Mercee: Wow - a treadmill. How does it feel. How come you got one from friends and family - was it your birthday?
GymRat: Way to go on the exercise session. Soreness means your muscles are singing. And Happy that you are using them.

I get these food fantasies in my head and it's seriously like my mind is taken over by them and I have to seek the crave. This has kept me girded in place for years 1 step forward 1 step back. NOWHERE!!! I COULD JUST SCREAM TODAY.

Just a quickie HELLO while I'm snarfing down my lunch.... (which is chicken salad and some fruit).
Had Open House last night at my oldest son's school, all his teachers were sooooo YOUNG!!! One of them went to HS with my husband, she was the younger sister of one of his best friends... that was funny!!
Eating has been so/so. I haven't eaten anything really devastating except for THREE (count 'em THREE) Cheddar Bay Biscuits at Red Lobster the other night... I swear three was GOOD for me, I can usually down about 100 of those things. Oh well... I did get the BROILED platter, so everything else was pretty good. I did eat a small serving of fried potatoes at my MIL's house last nite... but not much of them at all. I've been trying to really stay on track!
Missed the gym last nite due to Open House, and I work tonite, so I'll have to work extra hard tomorrow!!!!
MICHELE - Sending prayers for a speedy recovery for Thomas!!! My little brother has Aspergers so I know those situations can be frightning for them. How is he doing??
GYM - I eat more fruit than I really should too... but every time that sweet tooth kicks in I try and kill it with fruit. I figure it's gotta be better for me than chocolate anyway!!
MERCEE - Good Job on the treadmill!! I've been looking for one and a girl here has one that she needs to sell cause she needs the $$. It's a really nice one and she only wants $100 for it... so I'm seriously considering it! I'm just worried it's gonna be TOO BIG for my space.
SOLLY - WTG on the 2 lbs!!! You're my inspiration!! :)
BOB - THERE you are!!! I knew the wagon was going pretty slow... nice to see you are still in the driver's seat!! :)
MONET - Still sending good thoughts and prayers your way. I hope everything is going as well as it can for you and your family. I hope you have a safe trip back home as well.
Well I gotta go get back to work.... I have probably 4 hours of filing to do today and I'm leaving in 3 hours.... UGH!!!!
Everyone have a great Tuesday and an OP week!!!

Dang Ray keep the noice down. Quit that darn screaming. I know I messed up on the week end too. Its hard to get back on and then here comes another week end. LOL I have the party for my son's homecoming this week end and its the food buffet at the Western Sizzler. Plus traveling 6 hours to get there and everyone is going to a bar after wards to visit. HOW AM I GOING TO DO THAT.......
Sparkle- You are just like me with my meds. I'm so bad to forget them and yesterday I forgot mine. I hate that. And my heart doctor would have a fit if he knew that.
Gym- I know that feeling and I got it now. LOL
Mercee- I'm so happy you got your treadmill. Sounds like your family is as wonderful as mine. LOL :tread:

Hello All!
I'm Chris, will be 46 in March, live in Ct with my husband and 2 daughters. Actually, my older daughter is at college now, so I have just my 18 year old at home.
I came across the S.B. book at my Dad's house right after Christmas and decided it was the the tool I needed to stop the sugar addiction I've had my whole life. I have no control when it comes to sweets. They trigger me to overeat all the time. I can't remember the exact date I started using the S.B.diet, but it was probably about Dec. 31st. Since that time I have gone from 216 pounds to 198. The worst was the first few days when I had headaches and not much energy, not that I ever had any energy before that:joker: Yesterday was the first time I really fell off the wagon. We had to put our cat down that morning. He was 17 and failing quickly, and I just started coping with food again instead of just feeling the emotions like I know I should have. Besides eating TONS of legal food I also ate some jellybeans. I stayed away from the chocolate, but everything else was fair game! I was so stuffed that evening I thought I'd burst.
Normally that would have started a downward spiral for me ending in me giving up. This morning (still feeling full) I got right back on track and didn't look back. I think being a little older and wiser now, I see this as a bump in the road that more than likely will happen again. I kept thinking to myself, this is a lifestyle change and life isn't always perfect, so how can we be?
That being said, how the heck do I start losing again? I've been stuck at 198 for a week now. Actually, I'm very happy with my loss so far. I still can't believe it. I'm probably just losing at the right speed now. I lost a lot very quickly. I have no idea why, I've been eating exactly the same.
I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone and say hello. I've been reading the posts and they're very encouraging. Good luck with the remainder of the week and I'll be back to post the good the bad and the ugly!
Take care, Chris
Mercee

Chris - Welcome we are so glad to have you. This is a very great and friendly bunch we look forward to chatting with you.:welcome3:
Ray - My birthday was Friday this one was really great.
Beth -I would grab that treadmill in a minute if I were you and especially for 100 bucks.:woops:
Ray - I love being able to workout at home now. Actually we have a gym membership which I am not going to cancel because my 2 sons use it and somtimes I may want to go. We got the membership when they first were building so for all 4 of us we only pay $35.00 per month. My one son who plays football now that the season is over he goes 4 times a week and my younger son will start back as soon as basketball season is over. My husband goes occasionally also. For one person it is $20.00 per month. So it is still a savings.
Talk to you guys later.

Chris- Wow, you lost a LOT of weight in a short amount of time. I think the reason you are at a stand still right now is simply the fact that your body needs to adjust to this loss. At least that has been my own personal experience. I'll lose in spurts.
Yesterday was really busy and today is SUPER SLOW. Plus, I have to work until 6, so this day is dragging on. I just wanted to check in and catch up on posts. Have a good evening everybody!!

Evening Everyone...
I bought a brand new car tonight. Whoo. I hardly ate much today since I was at the dealership most of the afternoon. There's a way to not be hungry, fret over interest and car payments..poof no appetite. LOL
I did fine though.
Chris Welcome aboard. I had the same thing happen..lost a bunch and then poof. I loose about every other week it seems. Good luck and happy eating!!

Welcome aboard Chris... Hope you like it here and stay. :welcome:
Had eggplant Moussaka for lunch. And tonight I'm making refried beans out of my pot of beans and we're having burritos on whole wheat tortillas. Right now I'm having a nice cup of hot tea. Love it in the evening. Our temperature has dropped from 67 to 25 and the wind is fierce. I hope it calms down for tomorrow I have to take the truck to get the oil changed tomorrow.
Mercee- It would be nice to have a gym membership and go maybe once a week to get me out of the house in the winter. That's great your sons and Dh use it.
Hi Ray hows the rest of your day going?
Heartmom- Boy working till 6 would make an awfully long day. You must almost be off work now. Hope you have a relaxing evening.
Gym- WOO HOO on a new car. A big fat congratulations. What kind? Tell us tell us.
Better go make some dinner. Happy evening. Stay warm.

Hello everybody, how is your evening going? It rained most of the day here today and when it stopped the wind has really just been blowing!
It was Quizno's again today, this time a small roast beef & cheddar. I'm gonna have the mayo cut and add mustard next time. Supper was pinto beans and I had a little instant brown rice and made that. There is enough left for tomorrow for lunch.
Chris: welcome to you! I am new here myself although not to Sugarbusters.
Sweets were and still are my biggest problem and I have never met a dough nut I didn't like. If I could just remember where I put my mind, ha ha.
Gym: what kind of car did you get? Mine will finally be paid off in October and I am so glad.
Toni: I am sick of pinto beans, but hubby wasn't here to help me eat them, so I stuck with them but absolutely tomorrow is my last time to eat them.
Y'all be good and remember your meds!

Hey Guys..I bought a brand new (something I have never done before) 2008 ford focus. it is soo cute. Kiwi green I used to drive a odyssey mini van. Such a change. It will hlp me save money to move out this July. And I will save so much money on gas. I am very excited. We went to dinner to celebrate. I had chix, linguini scampi and nachos w/cheese. I didn't have too many..But I wanted them so I ate them. Only about 6-7 chips with cheese. No bread and no dessert.
Toni--Ouch that's quite a temp drop. Stay warm..I hate the cold
Sparkly-be careful with instant brown rice it has a much higher effect on the blood sugar and a 4 in terms of gi number where is long time cooking rice is only a 2. I found out the hard way. Just thought id let you know. Rainy weather sticks, hopefully you found a way to get through the day.
Ok im off to bed--good night everyone..:)

Good morning everyone-Having a very rainy Wednesday here. I am also without a car because my daughter confiscated it. It looks like I'm forced to do laundry and pick up the house today.
I watch a 2 yr old little boy Mon-Thurs all day so he'll keep me busy. He's watching Mikey Mouse right now, so I'm stealing a little time to post. God bless Mickey and all his friends!
I realized after my post that I still have my old stats up. I will have to change those one day. It did show me once again though that I continually gain weight each year. Just the reinforcement I need right now.
Mercee-Thank you for the welcome. Looking forward to chatting with you.
Ray-Thank you for your support. My Freckles was a sweetheart and I miss him very much. As for being smart? LOL I'm just more accepting now that perfection is not the goal.
Heartmom-I agree with you 100%.
Gym-Thanks for the welcome. I think I'm on my way to being in the every other week club too. Congrats on the new car.
Toni48-Thanks! I plan to stay put here with you guys. I'm half Greek and love Mousakka.
Sparkle-Welcome to you too. Have you seen an improvement in resisting the sugar since being on Sugar Busters?
Thinwithin-Been there, done that! Like you said, next time try to find a better choice. Don't beat yourself up, just put it behind you.
Dtrmn-Nice to meet you too! I'm happy to hear that surgery went well for your Thomas.

I have to keep reminding myself of that as well. I have to say you do a good job with variety of foods.
I just finished with my sports class and took the adult fitness class. Always a good time. My quads were already sore from yesterday. Tomorrow should be interesting.
I talked to the owner of the facility I work at. She does body fat analysis the old fashion way where she measures your body, not your weight to check for inches lost. I signed up to do it next week because It will be awesome to be able to track that every 3 months. The scale isn't always accurate. Although I am accustomed to the numbers on the scale. Inches lost will be great too.
Time to shower and snack I am starving..2 hours and 900 calories later I'm feeling great!!
Chris-I know the feeling of chasing the 2 yr old..I remember those days. Thats a work out in it self. Use the munchkin to add resistance to crunches and play catch and do squats. I used the kids all the time for leg and arm work out when i couldn't get to the gym. Free playtime for them and a great sweat for you..Then you can say OK now its time to play alone while you rest.
Mercee-Thanks..Im loving it!! Enjoy your day!

gym rat - i would love to get my body fat analysis someday. i'm sure i could easily find a place to get it done, i'm just lazy! i had it done once in college and was more or less horrified at the results.
i've been trying to include a lot of dairy products in my diet because of all the hype about them helping with weight around the midsection, which is my biggest problem. we'll see. i also enjoy dairy products a lot, so that helps.

Thin: :) I sometimes look for action in food too........I hope you are not being rude to yourself.
Chris: Good to know you - I'm sorry you have suffered theft of your car from your daughter!
Slow: No way! I didn't know you were new here!!!!!
I am very happy to be alive today. I am making up stuff to keep me happy!!! I worked out like a maniac last night and will go at 'er again on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - I just love the high I get from it!!! The horrible high I used to get after eating sugar ....... my gawd I used to eat Double Bubble gum - like 10 pieces all at once and just let the sugar juice trickle down my throat. When I look back on those days I was nuts! and I would get so tired and cranky....and had a foggy idea it might be that.......
Sparkly: yes be careful with the instant anything - it can make you high as a kite!
Hey Solly Solly what's new!!!

Good afternoon ladies, got my shot and it helped a lot. Didn't have any numbness while sleeping and only a tingle while doing my makeup and hair today. DH wouldn't let me go to the gym due to the shot, so I worked out some at home with the exercises the therapist told me to do for my back. My 2 lbs was back to day. I weighed before I pottied so that may be some of it. Will hit the gym tonight for sure.
Rosemary, we have a :tread: but it is not afancy one, in fact the incline doesn't work. I would definately get one with the incline feature. DH walks 45 minutes every day. I use it in the mornings sometime and on days I don't get to the gym.
Mercee, wow want nice friends an family to do that for you.
Sparkle, guess those sammies are small.
Ray of Light, I have RA which is degenerating my spine, disks, bones, etc. I actually feel good and think it under control but you just don't know what it is doing to you internally. Tread on. You are so happy today, it is contagious, Thanks.
Beth, I have found the older I get, the younger everyone looks. Gosh I hate filing too. I pile mine up until I have to file it.
Toni, you have the time of your life this weekend and don't worry about anything you do or eat. You just party with your sons like there is not tomorrow. We had horrible winds last night and some this morning. It is bitter cold here too.
Chris, :welcome: to our group. You are doing fantastic. You are smart to get right back on track. Give it a week and I bet that 198 disapears. Looking forward to getting to know you. So sorry about your cat. That is so hard. Don't you hate when you are a prisoner on your own house, you find so much housework to do. Jailbreak!!!
Thin, sometimes you just have to have McDonalds. I can talk myself out of it the whole time I am driving through and paying. It's over, move ahead.
Heart, come back when you can.
Gymrat, congrats on the new car. Wow what a color. Great gas mileage though. I had my body fat done, wasn't pretty
Dettermined, Glad Thomas' surgery went ok. I'm ready for Spring to. My daffodills are blooming.
SMW, glad you had a good day. You are doing great.
Chrgrl, if you find that you are having trouble losing, maybe cut out one of your carbs. A whole Sp is 2 carbs.
Hvae a great OP day and evening everyone.

Hey, guys. Another slow day at work but at least I'll be out of here by 4:30. I'm having an awful time with fluid. I usually can get rid of it within a few days but it won't budge no matter what and it's frustrating. My doctor(and other docs) think I am too healthy to be taking diuretics..grrr!!! I did Leslie's Sansone's Walk Strong this morning and I took a light 15 min walk on the treadmill during lunch. Gotta do something other than sitting at this desk all day. Got a customer...

in regards to sweet potato servings, does anyone have more information on this? for instance, how many ounces or grams is considered one serving? sweet potatoes vary greatly in size; i pick through the bin and find the smallest ones i can (usually around 7-8 oz), but there are some in there which i'm sure weigh a pound or more.

Hi Folks,
I just got home from teaching my afternoon gymnastics class (well I m the asst tech) but I learned to demonstrate today. Not really learned, more as just got my butt to do it. 2 forward rolls and 1 backwards roll later and I was dizzy as all ****. I got through the class feeling like crap and came right home. I am going to lie down, and skip the gym tonight. I love tonight's class which is why i go twice on Wednesdays but its time to rest..
As far as food I have been really hungry but that's cause I have used a lot of energy. i'll post the menu later. Hope everyone's day is going well!!

The slow cooker salsa chicken is pretty good, I like mine spicier than what it came out to be, so I had some sliced jalapenos and had a few on the chicken breast. But the best part of the recipe to me is the sauce! I had a little bit in a bowl like a soup. I could just have the sauce by itself. I will use the "hot" taco seasoning packet next time also and the hot salsa.

Hello everyone! I got in late this afternoon, and we went to the pot luck dinner at church. I had rotisserie chicken, broccoli salad, salad, and a small piece of sugar free lemon pound cake. I ate an orange when I got home. I feel like I did fairly well.
I am REALLY tired...so I need to go to bed. I will catch up tomorrow.

chrgrl - your food is so good, clean as a whistle, hope I can do just half as well.
Gym Rat- Congrats on the new car, about another year and I'll be shopping for one.
Chris - you and I are the same height and weight, though you have the edge on age, let's hang in there!
Ray - keep that singing up, a positive attitude is half the battle won.
heartmom - I agree retaining fluid is not a pleasant thing, hope it improves soon.
Sparkle, Monet and Solly - Just saying hi, keep on keeping on.
Hello to everyone this morning and don't forget your meds. I'm gonna weigh today when I get to work, haven't weighed this week. It rained during the night last night and it is so cold now! Well, cold for Louisiana anyway, ha ha.
Talk to y'all later.

well, i was down 1.5 lbs this morning...i have to be honest and say i was a little disappointed, since i haven't weighed myself in almost 2 weeks and was expecting a little more. however, i'm trying to remember what i said yesterday about my pants fitting better. and to be honest, i haven't really gotten into a regular exercise routine until just this last week, so hopefully february will be a better month for me, and i'll keep up the exercising. once i get going, i'm pretty faithful, it's just those first few days it can be hard.

No weight loss to report, absolutely none. Doesn't seem like I'll ever get to my goal of 10 pounds lost by March 11. What the problem is-I don't know, but I'm pretty down about it right now. Took my meds this morning and ate bkfast and blood sugar is dropping I can feel it. Will check it in a little bit too.
It's enough to make me want to give up the meds and eat what I should not.
I won't, but it's enough to have me thinking along those lines.

chrgrl - Congrats on your weight loss. :carrot: At least your are 1.5 lbs lighter than you were this time 2 weeks ago.:)
Well I had a busy eveing I went to see my new nephew he is beautiful. I also still worked out when I got home. I have a busy day at work today. Have a nice day all.

Morning! Just a fly by as I have a lot of catching up to do. I forgot to weigh, but after my four or five days away, I am not going to let it bother me at all! :s:
SPARKLE: As diabetics, we are handicapped in the weight loss department. It is devilishly hard to lose, and incredibly easy to gain. Hang in there. Weight gain messes up your blood sugar levels and puts you at greater risk for all kinds of complications. It may take you longer to lose, but each pound you DO lose helps get the bg under control and lessens the insulin resistance that is what causes the diabetes. Staying the same is a victory - a small one, but still a victory.
Mercee
01-31-2008, 11:56 AM
Sparkle - I didn't realize you were diabetic. I am also and I take oral meds. Monet is correct hoewver I can say eating the sugarbusters way my a1c Test is usually 5.2-6.0 at the highest. So be encouraged and stay with it. There have been taken off my meds by the Dr. because I didn't need them. One time I was off for 1 year.

Morning Ladies, There is nothing good about it. I got about 1 hr sleep last night. Good think I don't require much. Don't know what the problem was. Then I was going into my meeting this morning which is on a construction site, and tripped over a piece of concrete stuckt ot he ground. Fell flat on my face. Skinned up my knees, scuffed up my shoes & I was covered in dirt. Then I was running late to my next meeting. Gets the nerves all in a bundle. Just need to sit here and unwind. Hope the remainder of the day goes better.
Had to work late last night so I did not get to the gym, but did do 35 minutes on the :tread: and then 30 minutes again this morning. Will definately get to the gym tonight.
Heart, I feel your pain about the diuretics. Try to find something natural that works. Decaf tea? I know it is frustrating. If I don't take mine, I never visit the bathroom.
Chrgrl, congrats on your 1.5 loss. Slow but sure.
Gymrat, make sure you are eating enough to compensate all that excercise. Hope you feel better.
Monet, glad you are back.
SMW, hope you are having a good day.
Sparkle, hang in there, it will come. I have the same problem with my meds, they just kling to the weight. Comes on easy, but leaves a lot harder.
Mercee, nothing better than a new born is there. I bet he is sweet.
Bob, where are you.
Better run. Have a great day.

I am also a diabetic. Some diabetes meds make it extremely hard for you to lose weight because they stimulate insulin production which leads to weight gain. I was on prandin for almost 5 years and I kept creeping up instead of down the scale. I could not lose a stubborn 20 lb regain from my lowest weight after my gastric bypass. Dr switched me to only glucophage last October and I started losing again and even without exercise I maintained regain to only 5 lbs over the holidays. So yes meds can make weight loss frustrating indeed.
Weekend is almost here and the Rodeo is in town...yipee! We are going on Saturday...in my jeans and boots...dont have a hat though...lol. Have to pass up the corn dogs and funnel cakes...I can be strong!!!!

Just a fly by to tell everyone hello and hope you're all having a great day!!
It's the last day of the month, so I'm totally slammed here at work, but I wanted to pop in and say hello... helps keep me going!
Doing fairly well.. but the scale WILL NOT BUDGE!!! I've been drinking water ... I think I'm not eating ENOUGH food, though. Gotta get to work on this food situation so I can get in smaller pants.
OH - and I AM buying that treadmill. It has incline and programs and a pulse monitor and stuff and it folds flat for storing. I'm gonna hide it in the corner behind the TV (it's a big projection tv on wheels, it will totally hide it) and bring it out while I watch shows and walk... or listen to my ipod and walk. Gotta get moving so I can beat my last year's time in the Cotton Row 5K in May!!!
See you guys later!!! :grouphug:

When I first found out I was a diabetic 1 year ago, my A1C was 10.0
My last lab work was 8-2007 and the A1C had gone down to 6.0
I was so pleased. So I know the combination of the meds and the diet is working, but I hate it when I get stuck cause then I get discouraged.
In part it may be like Beth stated, I may not be eating enough.
Well, chin up, it's gonna be allright.
Hope everyone has a very pleasant evening.

Just a quick hello to all. Hope everyone had a good day food wise and in general. I am exhausted tonight and my husband wants me to watch a show on T.V. with him. I weighed in yesterday and am down 3 pounds. That is over 2 weeks. I finally changed my stats, so I'm current now.
slowmoving-We are practically the same. Congratulations on your loss so far!!
solly-thanks for the welcome!
chrgrl-congrats on loss!
sparkle-hang in there & stay strong. The loss will come.
monet-you're right-staying the same is a victory.
mercee-isn't great to see that losing weight can get you off those meds?
solly-no wonder you fell over the concrete, with 1 hour sleep you probably didn't see it! I hope you sleep like a baby tonight.
Good night

Hey Guys,
I am still not feeling too grand today. I wasn't very hungry today but this am I did make myself have breakfast and a snack. I actually felt very weak and dizzy right before lunch. I has an orange as a snack so although it should have been fine, I was worried about my blood sugar. I cheated and bought 70 proof dark choc and ate 2 squares along with a small pb&J sandwich. That didn't help. Nothing really has helped today. This headache won't budge either. I really did a number on my equilibrium(sp) last night.
I am on and off tonight as far as how I am feeling..So odd. I weigh in tomorrow am..Now sure how I did. It could go either way yet again. We shall see.
Sparkle-Don't give up with will com..Or go in this case. I agree 10 pounds is still very doable. gluck.
Mercee-Yay for new babies...Nice job working out as well. :) Hope the day wasn't to busy.
Solly-- hope your ok. sounds like a yucky fall. Hopefully your day was better..and the gym is always good for stress relief. Yeah..I wonder about eating enough vs. eating too much. I tend to eat if I am hungry on the work out days. My workouts are always strenuous and at least 90 min in length. I never quite know how many calories in/out. Im too lazy to track. For right now im satisfied with my progress. (especially when I factor in all the sf treats)
IMOnet-Good to have you back
Chr-Congrats on the weight loss.
Rosi-Have fun at the rodeo--sounds like a fun time.
Beth-Hope tomorrow is less busy. As soon as your exercising regularly im sure the scale will move. it seems every time we change something the bodies soon adjusts so keep changing it up.

Good afternoon, Just getting ready to go eat lunch, tuna and an apple.
Not soo sore from my fall. My knees hurt and are bruised some. I will be fine. Got in the hot tub and that helped some. Went to the gym and got a 50 minute workout. Slept some better last night. Some wine, hot tub and a sleeping pill works wonders. I did wake up around 3:30 and did't get much more sleep. I got up at 5:00 and got 30 minutes on the :tread: So that is 4 mornings this week. I think the scale is down 1 more, but will wait for Monday.
We have a wedding tomorrow and then tomorrow night a wedding/party for a friend who got married New Year's Eve in Fla.
Rosemary, You can be strong and pass on the funnel cakes and corn dogs. I would have trouble on the corn dogs though.
Beth, you will like your :tread: I have taped some of my favorite shows that I can't stay up and watch any more and I watch them and just fast forward thru the commercials. Time flies.
Sparkle, maybe you should track your calories for a while to see if you are eating enough. Hang in t here, it works.
Chris, Congrats on your loss. Keep up the good work. I'm with you on the kids. I guess that is why we have them when we are younger. I sure don't have the stamina anymore or the patience.
Gymrat, the chocolate is not illegal. 70 or 80 is reccomended. Just be careful and don't go overboard. My DH eats the 80% and I tried a small pc, but did not like it. But then again, I am not a chocolate person. Hope you feel better soon.
Mercee, wow 8" of snow. Bet your kids are having fun. We missed out on the ice and snow. We have some flurries now. Have a great weekend and stay warm.

Good afternoon everyone! I went out to breakfast with my neighbor this morning. I will not tell you what I ate for breakfast...I was BAD! I feel rather depressed though. I am very fond of this neighbor...we have been friends for a long time. She told me this morning they are planning on putting their house on the market soon and moving out closer to her husband's job. :(
I just ate lunch: a pb&j on whole wheat with polaner all fruit, and a glass of low fat milk.
I am planning on changing my clothes and heading down to the garagio in a few.
MERCEE: EIGHT inches? :yikes: When I left Wednesday, it was like 8 degrees at Midway. I am glad I missed the extra snow. I much prefer to visit during the spring, and summer! :) Stay warm!

Good Morning...
I slept last night--And here is why I think so. I was hungry most of yesterday. Not bored hungry cause I was very busy..Just hungry. I had 2 breakfasts. 1 before and 1 after the gym. Lunch an hour later, Then I had a snack 2hr after, then I had to go almost 3 hours..then big thing of broc for another snack. My day menu was great. Once I ot home I was starving. My sister had made dinner. Usualy we don't eat together because most things she makes arn't legal. Well sad to say last night I didn't care. We had chicken (legal) but I had about 6 oz. I had 1/4 cup of corn..and 1/4 cup mashed sweet potato(but it was sweeted with brown sugar. The kicker for dessert I had a piece of Banana cream pie. The best damn thing I have had in so long. Well about an hour later I went to bed and fell asleep. I didn't even stir until my alarm went off. I was stuffed. I know not the best habbit to get into. But the sleep was well apperiated.
I did weigh in..Only down .5..and thats from being up 1.5 from last week. I haven't gotten rid of the gain. Im going grocery shopping tomorrow to plan out meals. I will fully admit I have been very lazy about cooking dinner and lunch. I used to be awesome about it.
Ok Im off to the gym--Ladies have an awesome day..COngrats on the weight loss Michele..and glad you have your sig back.

good morning everyone - on my way out the door to get my hair done. I get it washed, blow dried and flat ironed. It's so long I can't flat iron it myself, well not good anyway, so my little treat to myself is have someone else do it.
Today daughter is coming, bringing my mom, and wants us all to go to Red Lobster. I looked at their on line menu and would love to think about having the shrimp (not fried). I would like to think I would order the broccoli to go with it. I would like to think that I would not have any of the biscuits.
Yeah, that's what I would like to think I will do. I will keep y'all posted on what really occurs.
Congrats to all losers and maintainers this past week!
