Well it's back to winter for us - snowy, slippery and cold today - quite a challenge getting to work - very slow going - but better safe (and slow) than sorry!
Vickie - sending extra special good vibes to you and Jim for tomorrow - hope all goes well. Glad to see you have your new computer back and you are now ready for action. I am definitely going to make those muffins as soon as my bananas ripen a bit - no walnuts for froufs (allergic to all nuts except pecans - go figure) - but might add some fresh blueberries!
Went to bed a bit too late so had to drag myself out of bed this morning. Packed up tons of food for work - god forbid I should go hungry - so I am set for the day. Not sure about supper tho - might have to finish the Kale soup - and I am craving greek salad and I think we might just have all the fixins at home!
Have decided I no longer wish to listen to ex-h messages on my phone - he loves 'venting' on the phone and leaving these long winded messages about all his problems and issues and plans - and as Rhett so aptly put it 'frankly I don't give a damn' - esp cuz he tells me how 'displeased' he is with me and ALWAYS calls when I am not in the office - like in the evenings so when I come in every morning that red light is a flashing and lo and behold there are at least 2 sometimes 3 messages from him - at least 2 mins long each - no thanks! Such a nasty way to start my morning don't you think?
Froufie
P.S. Changed my ticker today cuz I am down another lb! - but decided my 'official' weigh-in shall be thursday mornings (now if I can only stay off the scale until then!)

It's so nice to have new pages.
Rhonda, I am soooo red faced here. I am definitely suffering from "old timers'" now. I had completely forgotten about posting (and even making) those Fiber 1 muffins)
Frouf, you made a good decision to stop listening to those rants. I am proud of you.
Vickie, your muffins sound good, too. Have I made them before? You know I wouldn't know if I had.
Melissa, what about your job? Same? New?

Frouf, bless your heart. You should not have to listen to that, especially first thing in the morning. I'd just hit delete!! I hope that your day is going well despite the weather.
Sandra, unfortunately it is the same job. It is making going back even harder. That's actually what I'm doing today, applying for jobs. I'd appreciate any prayers for new employment!! I don't know how I'll go back to be honest.
The dog is whining--I better take him out before the baby wakes and wants to eat!!

Okay, drumroll please...the business we are starting is a frozen custard shop! :o Good thing it's not a cookie shop, eh? :cookie:
I am excited - I really think frozen custard will take off here. It's wildly popular in other areas of the Midwest, but the only place here in town that has it is Culver's. For those of you who don't know what frozen custard is..it's basically a super premium ice cream with higher butterfat and eggs, and it's frozen in a special machine at a higher temperature so it's smoother, creamier and has fewer ice crystals. You can use it the same way you would ice cream, and we'll have cones, sundaes, pies, cakes, concretes, floats, etc. The name of the store is Maddie's Island, and it will have a definite tropical feel. We're going for the Virgin Islands feel instead of Gilligan's Island.
We're getting the whole family involved pretty much. Anyway, that's one of the reasons I've not been online as much as I'd like. We're crazy busy here, since we're opening March 1st, I think.
One of my contributions I'm most proud of (ha ha) is that we're offering a 1 oz. "baby" cone, both for children and for people looking to eat healthy. That way you can still have a taste, but don't have to get the larger size and either throw it away or finish it and regret it. I also insisted that we have a small 12 oz. size on all the shakes, malts and concretes we offer.
So do any of you have any ideas of what you like/don't like in an ice cream shop?
And sorry for talking so much about a forbidden substance.
Oh yeah, and my sister just bought a little female brindle boxer puppy today! She's taking name suggestions...any ideas?
Angela
Thast fantastic news Angela..and good for you to think of those that are eating healthier too...its a win win situation!
ummm Frouf I must have missed something along the line...I didnt know Dh is now an ex??

Hi All - Wow I completely missed all of last week! I went online to read some of the posts and there were too many to remember who's doing what so I am going to start this week like a newbie.
Froufy - When you stumble upon a message from the ex-h that is nasty remember that it reconfirms why you are where you are... deep breath in ... and count to 10 while you blow away all the crap (can we say that here?) he is trying to burden you with ... let him live his life ... and be thankful that you are where you are and that you only have 2 minutes of the rant to deal with ... he has to spend the whole day with himself and his anger and from the sounds of it ...he gets what he deserves.
Melissa - I'm the praying sort so I definitely will put your name and situation on the list!
Angela - I can hear your excitement! I must say I have never even heard of frozen custard. I'm not sure if we have anything like it in Toronto. It sounds delicious though. (It doesn't sound like it has a fat free version :( ) I think I'd try it anyway!
Well I missed my weigh-in today but I've been very focussed last week - I ran 4 days 5 km each time and although it makes me ravenous...I did very well sticking to core. I am going to go weigh-in in the morning so we'll see what happens.
Every time I weigh-in it's like waiting for the lottery results!
Hope everyone is staying core.

Hi Everyone
Just got on here for a few.
need to go and fix son somethnig to eat. He will be getting home here in a little bit. And will be hungry.
I went to WW tonight. I gained 1 1/2 lbs. So am bummed.
Will try not to let it bother me. Know that I can get it off. And try not to turn to food to comfort me. For the gain.
So not sure what happened. Showed my trak to my leader. She thinks I had too much salt. So will try and watch that this week.
Well gotta go.
Thinking of each of you.
Hope everyone has had a great day.

Hi:
A quick note because I had a long day and am tired.
Frouf, if I wrote what I'm thinking someone would send the law after me! What a nasty thing for him to do. Good riddance!
Angela, I can't think of even one thing I don't like about an ice cream store. Oh yes, they need to be super clean and not smell. Sometimes they seem to get a sour smell about them, IMHO. That's a great idea to have small sizes.
I didn't get to the step class tonight because I had to work late. And, I didn't do anything to make up for that either! :(
Coco, don't worry, it's gonna come off!
Night all...

Frouf, I already responded to your post with my 2 cents about you're not listening to the rants. I completely glossed over the "ex" part. Now I am really livid that he's calling.
Angela, that is very very exciting news. I wish you the best of success with your new business. The only suggestion I have is that you should expand to the Ft. Worth, TX area--soon!
Coco, we go to WI in the AM. I may be with you with a gain. Don't sweat it. It'll come off.
Lytricia, I have missed you, girl. I'm glad you're back here with us.
Not much going on here tonight. We're just chillin' in front of the tv. I tutored my 9 yo grand earlier. She's doing well.

Good morning!
I've lost another pound. Hooray. They have never come off sooooo sloooowly. That'll teach me; I hope!
I've got another busy day, with some serious temptations presenting themselves at a late afternoon reception at work. I'll try to remember to drink a lot of water. That way I might not be tempted. Of course, I'll spend all of time in the loo ;)
I'm taking a scrapbooking class tonight, and am looking forward to a little fun. Regrettably, it is at the same time as an exercise class. I WILL get out a DVD and exercise today.
We have winter back, with snow covering the ground and still falling. It's not frigid outside, thank goodness.
Have a great day, all.

Hey All,
We had a lot of snow here in Massachusetts. It's very pretty outside, but I still do not like the Winter. I think when I retire I'll move to Florida. Did OK on my program, had an ice cream binge on Saturday, but did a power walk and swam in the pool on Sunday. I can always tell when I've eaten too much when my pants get too tight. I wanted to share a little insight I got from my page-a-day desk calendar.
Awareness and Eating
Eating (or not eating) is one of the ways that women who do too much abuse themselves. When we are young, our bodies can compensate for what we put in them. As we age, our mistakes in how and what we eat take their toll. This year, we will focus on the importance of how and what we eat.
Sounds easy enough. But I can take anything easy and complicate it!

ummm Frouf I must have missed something along the line...I didnt know Dh is now an ex??
No silly - previous dh is an ex - current dh is still dh - does that make any sense? (and we are celebrating our 10th anniversary this thursday, Jan 17!!)
And yes I told ex NO MORE MESSAGES - he seemed okay with that and thankfully he is off to Vancouver for a few days (at least I hope he didn't cancel?) to visit a friend so at least some peace and quiet for now!
Angela - what exciting news! I don't think I have ever had frozen custard but is sure sounds yummy - but what is a concrete (don't want my ice cream in concrete thank you very much!)
Coco - hang in there - I would be chugging a lot of water to get rid of all that 'salt' hiding in there somewhere!
Rhonda - congrats on dropping another pound - must have 'shimmied' it off your hips the other day!
More snow here - yes it is pretty and white - but is if @#$## cold out today! Have my exercise/weight training class tonight - #2 - I guess we will work our upper body today?
And Leure thanks for the reminder - we do not need to abuse ourselves with food! Be mindful of what you eat!

Drum roll, please................
We went to WW this AM. Curtis lost 5.6 lbs and I lost----:encore:--------9.2! What a shock that was. I guess I had been retaining a lot of fluid at last week's WI. I know 9.2 isn't typical for me, but--hey! I love it!
Vickie, I'm glad Jim's test is over. I know you're both relieved that all's well. That's always good news.
Rhonda, have a good time tonight. :belly: Do you have your veils yet?
Frouf, is dd still dancing? How about little ds? What's he up to now? I miss your stories about them.
Froufy
01-15-2008, 04:20 PM
My goodness Sandra did you deliver a baby or something? Talk about retaining fluid? 9.2 lbs in one week? That is amazing!!!
Vickie - hope all went well and you and Jim had a well deserved nap.
As for dd yes she is still dancing - tues, wed and thur nights are classes, friday night and sunday afternoons are rehearsals - and sat aft she 'assistant teaches' for 2 classes at the studio....and even little ds is getting in on the action as he is taking a hip hop class as well.
Little ds seems to be turning into an entertainer as well and we are thinking of getting him some singing lessons - esp after the gift he gave us for xmas/chanukah - presents us with a CD and a card (so cute it says: i love you a lot and a lot) - thought someone helped him burn a cd with our favorite songs or something but it's better than that - it is little ds singing one of his favorite songs (That Thing You do by the wonders) - it is quite amazing!
Turns out one of his teachers helped him - her brother has a recording studio so he downloaded some type of software on her computer and she brought it in to school and over lunchtime she 'sequestered' him in one of the classrooms (with everyone else listening at the door I understand) and was able to burn the cd - what a precious memento! (and the kid can actually sing! - we were shocked!)
I am munching on rice/cheese crackers right now - not the best thing - but I sure could do worse - have to go home and eat a quick and light dinner before my weight training tonight!

ONTARGET That is wonderful on the loss. You go girl. And congrats to hubby also. You two must have really been on track this week. Keep up the good job being on track.
VICKIE My Dad had a colonscopy yesterday. He had a small polip removed. And then they said he had some diverticalitis (spelling). Where he is to watch eating popcorn and nuts. Things like that. Glad hubbys was ok. Hope you are doing ok.
TEJAS How are you doing. Good job on the loss. That is great. Hope you had fun in your scrapebooking class.
FROUFY Too bad you couldnt take you ex on a cruise and kinda leave him somewhere. How sweet what your son did. And I bet that was the best present ever.
AGHIOWA I have never heard of frozen custard. Yogurt. but not custard. Good luck with your shop.

okay I am clueless - who or what is Alli? And where can I get some? :D
Busy/crazy day here - in meetings, courses, presentations - and was supposed to have dinner w/one of my gfs after work at this really shi shi italian restaurant but unforunately she is not feeling great today (she has MS and has recently been suffering more than usual) so we have rescheduled.
And I have been advising co-worker Dave who has decided to go on a cruise for his upcoming honeymoon (end of Feb) - so that has been lots of fun - he has actually going on the ship I just got off of - so I can give him all the inside info - lucky them!
Yes ds' present was the most special thing and I will cherish it forever!
Time to go home and forage around for dinner (nothing was technically planned as I was going out - oh well).
Frouf
P.S Okay I googled Alli cuz I just couldn't wait - sounds like the lower dosage ovc version of Xenical - which I took a few years ago - it works but can be 'messy'!

Thank you, Patti. I am trying to watch what I eat.
As to Alli, Frouf's right. The treatment effects can be bad. So far, I haven't had too much problem. I think it's worth it. But remember--I'm retired and can be close to a restroom when needed.
Angela, I got my Alli at Walmart. I think most chain pharmacies carry it. I don't remember exactly what it costs. I bought the starter kit but think the refills alone would be sufficient.
The Alli folks say you can lose about 50% more while dieting if you're taking Alli.
Am I sounding like a commercial? I hope not. I just like the results I'm getting.
Lisa, sometimes I have that automatic "self-destruct", too. I don't know why I do it.
Rhonda, maybe you have an answer???
Frouf, how kewl that you're able to help your co-worker plan his cruise.

I read the Alli website and was not impressed with the comment about a one to two pound loss a week. Most people can lose that if they reduce the calorie they consume in a day by 500. So, if you eat 1500 calories, reduce it to 1000. I KNOW that's not easy. But, if you add exercise, it should be easier.
I don't know much about these drugs, but I'm disinclined to take almost anything! I know that you normally are, Sandra, so something changed your mind. Wanna share?
A nine pound weight loss in a week is startling. You might find that the results will diminish over time. But, who knows?
I lost 8 pounds the very first week I started WW and I lived on the zero point soup. Haven't done that again.
We went to a buffet today, and I was good. I ate only salads and fish.

LYTRICIA Your 2.6 lb loss is great. Dont want to lose to fast anyway. And WW says up to 2 lbs a week is a good loss. So keep up the good work.
TEJAS I am with you on trying th Alli. I dont like taking too many drugs. Just the ones I have too. I seen a report on TV about Alli the other day. And wasnt too impressed with it. Sounds like you have to be pretty close to a bathroom most of the time. And really watch your fat intake. So I will just do it the old fashion way. And maybe some day I will get to goal.

Angela, I saw your post. How AWESOME that you are opening a business. I LOVE Culver's and any frozen custard. Good thing for me that we don't live too close. I'll try to think of some ideas. I saw the Cold Stone Creamery people on Oprah the other day. They were a Mom and Pop store when they first opened. For the first 17 months they made hardly any thing. Now they have 14,000 stores nationwide. The Husband said there were a few days that they made $6.00. He said that everything turned around when they got some publicity. My advice would be to call your local papers when you get up and running and get them to feature you if you can. Good Luck, my friend!

Hi Everyone
I fall off the wagon today. My eating has been awful. I have ate whatever I could get my hands on.
Well Hubbys Dr went ok I guess. They did blood work. So will know for sure when we get the results back from that. Should get them next week. Dr was going out of town over the weekend. Leaving tomorrow. So will have to wait. They want to put him on some meds for his feet. They have really been bothering him. But we are afraid they will interact with some other meds he is on. So the first of next month he goes to the Dr who has him on the meds. That we are afraid of the interaction with. So we are going to check with him first
LYTRICA Hope you are feeling better. Thought maybe I was getting something this morn. When I first woke up. My nose was kinda stuffy. But after a little bit. It cleared up. Think I might go ahead and take some cold med before I go to bed tonight. Just in case I am getting something.

Lisa, you're right. We are all buddies here and help each other over whatever hurdles are presented. You're leader's right about being positive. Our leader says to look at the number on the scales as just "feedback" and make adjustments as needed.
I made the steel oats pot luck oatmeal (Is that what I should call it?) yesterday and it's wonderful. I took the leftovers and shaped it into cookies. I'm baking the last of them right now. They aren't really "cookies" but a good imagination identifies them as "almost cookies."
Lytricica, I have been there/done that, too. I think we all have and are working to change our comfort foods to healthier choices. I think all you need to do now is write down the points and just keep on going. This was just one episode not a whole week.

Hey chickies - home from my WORKOUT! and boy did I feel it - today we did a 'full body workout' - both upper and lower body - I am using about 3 lbs on my arms and 2-3 lbs on my legs - and some exercises are harder than other so after about the first 10 reps your muscles do start getting 'fatigued' - at least that's what they call it (I have some other 'choice' words!).
Sandra - I can't believe you are talking about bulbs and flowers as we are heading into more snow and another deep freeze here.
Coco - hang in there - try to figure out what your triggers are - hopefully then you can avoid them - or change your behaviour or routine to avoid overdoing it!
Rhonda - I will be watching the news - let me know when the public shimmying takes place :D
Busy day at work today but I got some things finished now that my assistant is back. Had a lovely anniversary lunch with dh at the Thai restaurant near my work and our 'real' anniversary dinner happens tomorrow night - I also have a GORGEOUS bouquet of a dozen deep red roses - got a very mushy card and a box of chocolates which I am really not that interested in which is pretty amazing.
Going to try to get to bed early tonight as I am so tired - did not sleep great last night so need to catch up on my snoozing.
Maybe I should try some of that calcium (esp since I am not a big milk drinker as I have become slightly lactose intolerant in my later years!)
Nitey nite!

Frouf, I am so weird. I go outside every day to touch base with my flower bulbs. I always did the same with my roses. Looks like some hearty flowers will be opening up in just a few days. And pansies? I've had flowers on them all winter.

Hey Chicks! Boy we are really ready to go into the deep freeze here. Tomorrow will be single digits and 20-30 below wind chill. Jim went out to the Ear doctor this morning and is buying fixings for me to cook tonight and tomorrow so we can stay in and be warm and safe. I'm making Core chili and cornbread tonight and the new Creamy Cajun Chicken pasta recipe tomorrow. I haven't tried the cajun one yet but it's the one I put on the board a couple of weeks ago. I'll let you know how it is.
What's up with all of you? Plans for the weekend?

Congrats to all of you who posted losses; I am looking forward to my first weigh in on Monday. I went running with a friend this afternoon and I feel so fortunate that during this year that I am abroad that I have such a wonderful forest to run in...

Where are you Chicki?
A forest.....(looking outside at a mountain of snow.) Im jealous!!
Weigh in this morning had me down 4 for the week.... its alot but I still have one more to get to my 45 gone..I refused to change my avatar on the side..she is my inspiration!
Not much on plan for the weekend...Vickie I hear you...callning for -45 this weekend with the windchill.........brrrrrr there goes my oil bill chaching!!
We have friends coming over for supper and Ive decide we will raclette for a healthy meal. It looks so impressive and its really core*ish* and definitly YOAD friendly.
Tonight someone gave me a fettacine recipe that sounds good..if it works Ill let you know about it..it does have 1/4 c of white wine and 2 tbsp of ww flour in it so its not core.....just to let you know.
have a warm weekend everyone! stay bundled up

Well it's sunny and above zero today but that's all gonna change as we are also expecting the deep freeze by Sunday....brrrr...
Did not sleep great and had a bit of calf cramping this morning (probably due to yesterday's workout) but I fixed that with some stretching. Also have a bit of a headache today - not sure why - not a really bad one - but it's there so I might just take something to take the edge off.
Dh and I 'celebrating' our anniversary this weekend - probably going to a movie tonight and dinner tomorrow night at our favorite bistro - very good food ( http://www.westendstation.ca/#menus ). We decided to spread it out a bit and not do both same evening (guess we are getting old? ha ha ha:D)
Otherwise no big plans except some reorganizing of some drawers in my dresser (you know the ones that don't shut quite right, overflow and who the heck knows what down in the bottom anyways?).
Congrats patti on the great loss - Can't wait to see your 50 lb chick! Try and stay warm.
Vickie - I also like your idea of 'cocooning' - get those supplies in and hunker down for the weekend.
Of course some of us might just go commune with our 'flowers' :D - guess I can't do that for a few more months at least! :(

Vickie, that sounds mighty cold. Core chili sounds perfect. It's no where near as cold here, but it is cold. I made a pot of core taco soup and added some ww pasta to it. We had core cornbread with it for lunch.
Rhonda, it's been sleeting a little here today. I think the roads are still all right. I hope so, anyway. We're day tripping to Georgetown tomorrow to compete.
Chicki, running around in a forest sounds like a good thing to me. Have fun.

Hi Everyone
Hope everyone is staying warm. The cold weather hasnt hit here yet. But is to come tomorrow into Sunday. So getting ready to get bundled up.
ONTARGET I bet your flower beds are going to be beautiful when they start blooming. With hubbys feet. He is getting arthritis in them. But he also has neuropathy in them. They are wanting to put him on neurontin. I know they also use to treat seizures. But he is already on some seizure med. So that is why we are a little concern about adding this.
TEJAS Will be waiting to see the belly dancing. Hope you had a good day. The eating today for me was a little better. Still room for improvement. I am wanting carbs also. Guess with the cold coming and being stressed. Just want whats makes you feel comfort. But in the end I guess it doesnt really help. Maybe for the moment. Feel better for a few. And then right back. Saying ok what can I eat now. I need some more comfort. And then wonder why the scales go up. Think with the cold coming. Will just make a pot of tea. And when I want something to eat. Drink a cup of tea. See if that helps.
FROUFY you and hubby have a great weekend. You deserve it.
VICKIE No big plans for the weekend. May go visit my aunt tomorrow. Then need to get some veggies. And then come home and get ready for the cold coming.
To Everyone else I am thinking of you. Hope you have had a great day.

Hi girls
Well I woke up this morning feeling lousy but as the day has progressed I am getting better and better so I should be fine by Sunday or so. I am rarely sick so having something last this long is really annoying me. But I'll undoubtedly live to tell the tale!
I have never made core cornbread so I am heading over to the core recipe board to find the instructions and I will make it in the morning. That's the one thing that will throw me off eating all core is when I want a sandwich or that "carby" feeling in my mouth. I love cornbread so I'm hoping that the core recipe is similar to what I'm used to.
Have a good night all.

Hi all! My plans for the weekend... hmmm. How about never leave the house unless I absolutely HAVE to? It's also going to be subzero here, even without factoring in windchill. Ick.
I have been subbing in another early childhood special ed classroom this week, and I really enjoyed it. So I decided I would be their "permanant sub" every Thursday and Friday. This way I get some cash but also still some free time.

Good Morning Chicks!
I'm with you, Angela! It's darned cold here. I love that you are being a substitute teacher. I just know you are excellent. I would have loved to have you as a teacher.
I'm playing with my iPod this morning. I'm working on my 70's collection right now. Woo Hoo!
As my good friend Sandra says....Life is Good! I'm also looking forward to trying a new recipe tonight. I realized that my water consumption is way WAY down. So back to my tricks to force myself to drink. Like right now I have to drink 16 ounces before I can read any more internet stuff.
I'll be back later.

We're heading for the Austin area this AM. It's cold here, too, but not like in most of your areas. It's windy. I don't know what the wind chill is, but it's keeping my nose running. Is that exercise?
Vickie, I'm thinking of getting a WII. Do you know anything about them?

Good Luck Sandra!
Happy Anniversary Frouf! I'm glad your DH sounds like he is making a good effort at your marriage. Most of all, I'm SO proud of you for the exercise. Don't forget, it takes a while for the effects to show up....you know the whole sore muscle retains water thing.

What is a WII???
Scrapbooking was fun, of course. Boy, you could spend a LOT of money. But, I'm not; I'm being very modest with this adventure.
The renovators didn't do much today. They re-routed the dryer vent from out the window to a more appropriate vent. It will look much better. They are building cabinets to go around the washer-dryer to give them a built-in look and the vent hose will now be hidden in the cabinet.
DH has invited me out to one of my favorite local spots. It's not his, so it's a little gift to me to go there. They have a pasta dish he likes, and I'll have a salad, or maybe I'll splurge with a steak. We're having a big brunch tomorrow, and I think I'm eating too much!!!
Angela, that's nice about subbing. I think teaching little kids must be a lot of fun. (work, but fun)
Coco, I really hope your DH gets help with his feet.
Have a great night.

Hi Everyone
Well right now it is 26 degrees here. But I guess here later tonight early morning. The cold is coming. Down in the single digits by morning. And in some areas with the wind chill. May be -10 to -15. But that is in the higher areas. So not planning on going out much tomorrow. To church and back.
And then stay in and keep warm. Just out to walk the girls.(doggies)
VICKIE Yes Diabetics do usually have neuropathy. But hubby isnt a diabetic. I am with you on the water thing. Now that it is cooler. Alright down right cold. I am having a harder time getting the water in. If I could drink coffee or some flavored teas all day. I would be alright. I have heard of the Ipods. Where do you get the music for those. Do you have get it all off the internet. Thought that would be great. Whenever I get back to exersiceing. Or may just stick with my little cd player. But have to get back to the exercise first. But want to try and get the eating under control first.
ONTARGET Hope you had a good trip today.
TEJAS I agree with you. Scrapbooking is kinda expensive. I was doing a little bit at one time. Getting rubber stamps and all. And it was adding up real quick. Especially getting started. So guess I will go back to cross stitching. But that is expensive anymore too. I do the stamped cross stitch. Havent figured out how to do the counted yet. But some of those kits are expensive. And then the other day I needed some floss and they raised the price of that. Wal Mart was carrying some stuff. but they stopped carrying it. So about the only place I have found that has any around here. Is Micheals. I use to get a book. That has some stuff in it. But looked the other day on the internet. And said the new catalog would be on the site. So dont know if I can order the book for home or not. So may e-mail them and see if they would send a catalog. I am not sure what a WII is. I think it has something to do with playing games.
FROUFY Hope you are having a wonderful anniversary.
AGHIOWA Congrats on the job.
LYTRICIA hope you are feeling better. Son is complaining of his head hurting. And down the sides of his neck. And he sounds kinda stopped up. So told him to take some Nyquil tonight. Maybe that will help him.

A Wii is the newest Nintendo game system. You have a tv remote-looking device you play with, and it's motion sensitive, so you can swing it around and your character (or whatever game you're playing) will move with you. Like, there's tennis or bowling etc. That's about all I know about it. :)

Good Morning All:
We're in the deep freeze too. It's about 15 F (-9 C, or so). And, the wind is blowing. The only high point is that the sun is shining. It has been so grey here that I have felt like simply hibernating and I can't do that. I do NOT want to take the dog for a walk. I'm sure he's not too interested either from his behavior in the back yard....out, then in!
OK, I have to be strong this morning. We're headed to a friend's house for brunch! She's such a good cook and never met a carb that she didn't like. Of course, she's skinny too. (If I didn't love her, I would hate her ;) )
I behaved myself at dinner: salad with broiled chicken on top, one glass of white wine and no bread.
Stay warm everyone and sit by a sunny window, if you have one! :beach:

Good Morning Chicks! Well, it's frighteningly cold here too again. We are supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow starting tomorrow. I think we'll have our Chipotle dinner tonight instead of tomorrow. I'll have Jim drive me to WW in the morning and go to the grocery store while I'm in my meeting. Then we can come home and hibernate again. I have my mammogram on Tuesday morning so I'll have to go out then.
I'm craving cornmeal chicken done on the George Foreman grill. Jim loves it and would like it more often but it's a project for me so I don't make it often. When I do, I make a lot because it is just awesome cold out of the refrigerator. The recipe is on our boards for any newbies here. I love to serve it with oven fries and a veggie. It feels like fried chicken and fries!
I'm really enjoying playing with my iPod that I got for Christmas. As you know, we bought an iMac and now that I'm learning it I'd never go back to the PC. The Mac has an awesome calendar and address book. And, of course, the iPhoto is outstanding. I just learned that I can sync my calendars, address book, and all my photos onto my iPod with all my music! I'll have all my information with me in my teeny tiny little iPod. The only downside is you can't enter information on it like you can a PDA but I can live with that. Now I don't have to have separate calendars and stuff. It's been SO time consuming for me to set it up and learn it. But it's keeping me out of the food. So....it's a good thing.
I'm off to breakfast. I'll be back later.

Hi all, is there room for this lost chickie to find her way home???? I don't think I've posted since last September when I switched to a low carb woe. It works really well if you follow it right, but any small slips and I found my weight would swing 2-4 pds in one day. Not a good thing for me -- so, after a lot of thought I decided to join WW again.
I had been doing the at work sessions for years, but for the first time in about 4 years there wasn't enough interest to keep the meetings. Just my luck now that I decided to get back to core. Well, I did find a meeting in my town on Tuesday afternoons -- Tuesday just happens to be my day home with dd so its all working out. My first meeting is this Tuesday. Just thought I'd jump on and say Hi to everyone.
Hope all is well, I'm looking forward to reconnecting with you all!!

Hi All:
We just watched "Don't Come Knocking" with Sam Shepard, Jessica Lange and Sarah Polley. It was directed by Wim Wenders who is wonderfully talented. It's not a kids movie, but very worthwhile to watch.
I wasn't very hungry so I had a few bites of meatloaf and peas, with lf yogurt for desert.
I could start walking perhaps. I find the treadmill a bit hard on my knees, and it's too darn cold for me to talk long walks: ten minutes to the subway is my limit. I could drag out the WATP DVDs and join in the challenge.
If someone is at the computer earlier than I am in the morning, don't forget to start a new thread for the week.
Did anyone else notice that some of us are now being called "senior member"? I didn't add that to my avatar. I guess 3Fc did. Do we get a prize? And, why hasn't Vicki been bestowed with such an honor? Mystery...
