I think it will probably drive me insane, but along with this diet, I've decided to quit smoking, too! I can't breathe!! I can't afford it!! I decided that this year is the year I'm going to change my life. And I mean it. I can't excercise, because my lungs are so bad, I barely move, and I feel like I'm going to pass out. So, now I've decided, it's all or nothing!! Wish me luck!

What a great goal Leasha! I was "lucky" when I quit, I had bronchitis and was flat on my back for 3 weeks, and no one "loved" me enough to get me a cigarette! LOL :dizzy: It will be difficult, and may make your weightloss a little more difficult to start with, but I bet that in a short time, you will start feeling so much better! You are starting a whole new healthy way of life! Congratulations on taking the first steps! Let us know how you are doing! I bet lots of people here will be able to relate.

OK so I am not as strong willed as I hoped I would be. But I am working on it. At least I've cut the # of cigarettes that I am smoking each day to 25% of what I used to smoke. But I haven't quit completely yet. Maybe this week!

Just don't give up! You can do it! Congrats on at least cutting down! Hopefully that will make it easier when you finally are able to quit. Let us know how you are doing.

I smoked 2 packs a day for years. I finally quit 4 weeks ago today. I used the nicotine patch and it worked great for me. It gave me the edge I needed to quit. The benefit of the patch is knowing that if you smoke while your on it you could raise your blood pressure dangerously. Knowing That a puff could give me a stroke was a great motivator. Also, i didnt gain a pound. The patch made the cravings manageable and I didnt sit and eat all day which was my fear. I have noticed that my metabolism did slow down for a few weeks but came back about 10 days ago. I feel so much better I cant believe it. I can walk upstairs with out coughing already. My skin is clearing up too. Good luck to you. Its a hard thing to do but the strength you will get from beating this addiction will give you strength like you cant imagine.
