I haven't been around the 100 lb. club all that much since I hit my goal, but I've been lurking and trying to keep up with many of your posts. I love watching all the successes and I'm always pulling for everyone's who's facing a struggle, even if I don't get a chance to post my support.

Anyway, here's the point. I'll be taking a bit of a break from weight loss now, and I wanted to let you guys in on the reason why. I'm pregnant!! :)

I'm 36 and have tried for a very long time to conceive, but my weight gave me ovulation problems (I've only just figured out that obesity truly WAS the problem). After so much focus on weight loss and running, it's going to be odd to gain a bit of weight and be ok with it! I may be coming to some of you for advice, since this is my first baby!

I congratulated you over at the Maintainers Forum and I will gladly congratulate you once again. I can't possibly say it enough - I AM SO VERY HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!

I get the chills when you say that losing the weight helped you to conceive. What a blessing that you found the strength to do this for yourself - and your family.

Yeah for you!! Congratulations!!

I have two boys and let me tell you, you are in for a treat!! I have to say the gift you are receiving is truly priceless!! As my brother-in-law told us for our first -- you will become a millionaire, because you wouldn't trade that precious little package for a million dollars!!!

Good luck, enjoy (even the "bad stuff" -- sleep is over-rated :D) and, I'm sure the people on this site have much mommy info to share, whenever you need it!!!

Congratulations, Lisa! I'm so incredibly happy for you.

You know, both times I became pregnant was after I'd lost some weight and had been working out for 2 or 3 months. Hmmmm.

Congratulations!

You (and WindyCityChick and YP1 and ennay and, and, and) were a huge inspiration for me to start running and keep on running. And when I gave up, to start running again. It's wonderful to see that things are going great for you! And hey, maybe we'll be the ones asking you questions.

Congratulations! I'm so excited for you :D

On the topic of gaining weight for your pregnancy, you're going to want to talk to your doctor about exercising and weight gain. They've been coming out with studies [really interesting] about how women who are either slightly overweight or very overweight should either maintain or lose weight while pregnant. They also came out with how no one knows how hard or long you should work out while preggers....stories of athletes training just as hard, or not training at all....

Anyways. Sorry. I'm still cracked out on medication right now. The whole point was to say, congrats!!!

That is amazing! Congratulations on your pregnancy! It so easy to forget that bodies aren't mean to be at unhealthy weights, and that when suffering extra baggage that aren't working correctly. Thanks for that reminder, and enjoy a wonderful 9ish months of miracles.

Congratulations! This will prove to be a wonderful experience for you. About the weight loss, you can do it without gaining a ton of weight. But, you and your doctor should discuss it and find the range that will be good for you. I just finished up this little miracle process myself. See this post of mine for the scoop . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116106&page=2

That's Wonderful News!
I was pregnant with my first and only at 38...I like being an "older mom" too.

I wish someone had reminded me (often) that I was NOT eating for two, as a pregnant woman. No, I was eating for me and a baby, who is going to subsist on 4-8 oz of liquid every two hours (total 96 oz), the first few weeks after he or she is born and not a whole lot more after that...and by the way, that kiddo will be doubling in size that first year, too.
IF I had kept THAT in mind, perhaps I wouldn't have come so close to doubling in size myself. :D

If I had thought to eat like a "healthy" woman, then I'd have done a lot better...
But I have to admit - I loved being prenant and I love being a mom...
Enjoy.

Congratulations Lisa!! I am in the same boat as you were - weight gain is affecting my ovulation. I feel so much guilt over not being able to get pregnant again. Stories like yours help to keep me motivated to lose the weight.

Good luck and hope you have a very healthy pregnancy and baby!
