100 lb. Club - Exactly ONE YEAR and WOW!

View Full Version : Exactly ONE YEAR and WOW!

Today marks the one-year anniversary of when I started my "reduction campaign." ;) I know I could have definitely lost a lot more, but I have lost at a comfortable pace (something do-able for me), and I'm totally amazed as well as encouraged by the progress that I have made. I have learned SO MUCH with regard to food choices, my eating habits, etc. I have gleaned invaluable information along the way - not just lost pounds.

I mentioned in a few of my early posts that the year would fly by fast and that before we knew it we would be in the year 2008. I also wondered what I would say at the end of 2007 - "I am glad I did" or "I wish I would have." Well, here we are in 2008, and I'm so happy that I am able to say I'M VERY GLAD I DID!!!!

So, here is an encouragement to all of you (as well as to myself!) to continue to goal. Since the year flies by whether we make healthy eating choices or not (and we will be facing 1/1/09 before we know it), let's commit to ourselves that we WILL be in better standing on 1/1/09 than we were 1/1/08!!

I'm amazed that 2007 is already gone. I am equally amazed that I have made the progress that I did. And you know what? The year would have flown by just as quickly if I would have kept going to McDonald's, Sonic, ate cheesecake, etc. But I would have been worse off today than I was when I started a year ago. It definitely pays off when a person makes up their mind they are TIRED of carrying around an "extra person!"

The year 2007 is gone and 2008 is here, but what am I going to do with it? I am asking my question again - "What will I be able to say at the end of this year - I wish I would have or I'm glad I did?" I want to be GLAD and not MAD. ;)

If you want to see my progress so far, you can click this link... http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129437 As I said, even though I could have lost a lot more in a year's time, I'm glad I came as far as I did. ;)

Here's wishing you all a VERY happy and successful year in your weight loss journey as well as your personal lives.

You've done wonderfully -- and what you wrote really sums it up. This should be our mantra!

I also wondered what I would say at the end of 2007 - "I am glad I did" or "I wish I would have." Well, here we are in 2008, and I'm so happy that I am able to say I'M VERY GLAD I DID!!!!

Since the year flies by whether we make healthy eating choices or not (and we will be facing 1/1/09 before we know it), let's commit to ourselves that we WILL be in better standing on 1/1/09 than we were 1/1/08!!

VERY WELL SAID!!! That's EXACTLY it. Time will pass one way or another and look, just take a look at what you've done with that time. What HUGE strides you've made. HUGE.

And, oh, ummm, aren't you being just a tad hard on yourself. 77lbs??? I mean - 77lbs!!!! WoW!!!!!!

01-03-2008, 02:39 PM
AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING-- shouting on purpose!

That one word pretty much sums it up!! Great job!!:carrot:

"What will I be able to say at the end of this year - I wish I would have or I'm glad I did?"

I love this! Very well stated and an inspiring post. You have done amazingly well for one year.

And here's to another great year for all of us! :hat:

01-03-2008, 03:31 PM
Congratulations!!! I agree with others - 77 pounds is a fantastic amount to lose in a year and nothing to get down on yourself for! It is so true that a year from now a year will have gone by either way. We can either be closer to our goals or farther away.

01-03-2008, 03:51 PM
WOW!!! As I already knew, you all are AWESOME!! I just love sharing this journey with such wonderful folks as you all. Thanks for your encouragement and VERY nice words!

It isn't that I am trying to be hard on myself; it is just that I know more COULD have been lost. But, I'm VERY satisfied with what I did accomplish, whether more could have been accomplished or not. ;) I guess I put it in there because I wanted you to know that I realize more COULD have been done, but that was not to diminish what I did accomplish.

Thank you ALL...again! I am anxious to see you all to the finish line of 2008 with MUCH LESS of ourselves to worry about. :D

01-03-2008, 06:01 PM
Goodness, don't be hard on yourself at all. You have had a wonderful accomplishment. You've made long term changes. I love how you put it...where will you be in 2009. Well - you are heading in the right direction!

Great job!

I am really really proud of you, girl. And I love the one year later synopsis. I can't wait to hear more from your corner!

01-05-2008, 02:52 AM
well put Ritzy!

I joined 3FC a year ago and thought by signing up and saying i wanted to lose weight, that would be enough LOL I didn't actually "get it together" til August, so I'm not technically at my anniversary yet -- I hope i can hit 75 like you have! yay!

01-05-2008, 06:23 AM
congratulations on how far you have come in 1 year. 77 lbs is some achievement to be proud of. You have the right attitude that your eating plan must be one you can live with rather than stay with for a few months. The eating plan that you have embarked on is one you can do for life and look at the amazing results.

01-05-2008, 06:45 AM
Wow! My 3FC friends have done it again - boosted my morale, that is! You all are motivational even in your "congratulations" notes!! I'm telling you, this place is absolutely great, and I really do owe a lot of my success so far to the encouragement I get here.

Thank you ALL for your very, very sweet words. I very much appreciate it.

Now let's all go have a great year in 2008!! We can do it!!! :cheer:

01-12-2008, 11:11 AM
Ritzy, what a great and inspiring post. I've thought about "time just passing anyway" so many times and hearing it from your lips (ok, fingers) from one who has made the change just spurs me on all the more!

01-12-2008, 04:00 PM
Congrats :)

01-12-2008, 04:05 PM
Wowww!!!!!!! That's terrific!!!!!!! :congrat: You did an excellent thing, you committed and pushed through and look at you now!!!!!! I admire your hard work and determination. I will hit my goal in 2008 and I can't wait. I'm so happy for you.

01-13-2008, 04:51 PM
Fantastic! I am so proud of you!

01-13-2008, 05:06 PM
WOW, that is so amazing Ritzy! You are an inspiration. I hope I can keep motivated to have the same kind of success!

01-13-2008, 10:55 PM
Congrats!!! I just joined 3FC today and when I read your accomplishment it was exactly what I needed to get motivated and have the hope that I can lose a similar amount of weight in 2008. So thank you for being a great inspiration.

Woo Hoo for You.

I had my DH take my photos before I began dieting in 2007. However, I muddled around for eight months before I took off. Then I did well for about a month and muddled around for another two months. During that second muddling I began reading about other diet plans. I thought, why not? So, I switched food plans and since then I have watched my body melt before my eyes. The plan is what I needed. I now look foward to getting the rest of this weight off by the end of this year and starting maintenance early in 2009.
Yes, this year will fly by too if we keep ourselves busy one meal at a time, one day at a time, one week at a time.

You proved it could be done!! Woo Hoo!!:carrot::carrot:

You are amazing! And I love seeing the pictures. Our girls were comparing the change in my husband and I from last Christmas to this Christmas. I'll have to figure out how to load some pics for you all to see. I lost almost 60 pounds in 2007, Phillip lost about 110 I think. We had someone tell us recently we lost pounds AND years. You look younger, too!

01-14-2008, 07:33 PM
You completely rock! Plus what you said is so true, 2008 will fly by and we all need to focus on our goals.:)

01-14-2008, 10:29 PM
Thank you all!!! You all are so encouraging!! I know that each and every one of us can reach our ultimate goals by just taking one day at a time... We are all going to do it this year, aren't we!?

Thanks again, friends. I count myself as blessed to be a part of such a great group.
