Hey guys,

I didn't want to turn this into another Holiday Challenge, but I know some of you out there are romantics and are excited already about Valentine's Day. I personally want to lose 15 by then. Any takers?!?!?

I forgot to weigh myself this morning before I had already drank 16 ozs of water, 8 ozs of coffee and had an egg sandwich... Oops. lol

I have a formal dance for school the week before, so I am up for this challenge! 15lbs seems like a lot, but since I just started on purple I'm hoping the scale will be moving steadily so long as I'm POP.

I'll have my official start weight tomorrow....I'll set up my ticker then!

I cannot wait! I will be in Hershey, PA for Valentine's Day for their Valentine's celebrations, so I have something majorto look forward to!

Of course the highlight of the weekend will be the chocolate dessert buffet that he already bought tickets for! I can't wait! I told him we're not doing anything afterwards as I will be so sick!

I'm in for the VD Challenge. I've not been to COD in weeks but I'm going to set my goal at 10lbs....I think that is about what it will take to get me to ONEDERLAND.... I plan on going Friday so may change my goal if I need to lose more than that to hit it.

This will be the first time in MANY MANY years that I've been under 200. Thanks for keeping me accountable!

Ohhh Gee, Hershey, PA huh?? That would realllly ruin my goal. I love anything from Hershey's! Lucky You!!

I set my goal very low! I haven't been good since October. I am TIRED of hanging around 240. I WILL get to 230 this time. My original goal in July was to be 210 by DS's birthday which is February 16th. I'm 20lbs behind, but I haven't given up!!! Hopefully I will reach my goal, and that will kick my motivation into overdrive!

Kimberly-We both stalled at the same time, right after halloween. We need to get back in it! I wanted to be at 199 by april and then pick a new goal weight (probably 175).....I graduate in May and want to look good! Only 4-5 months till those goals.
If we start over and have as much focus as we did in those first few months where we had 3-4+ losses...we will get there!

Count me in. Now that I'm not paying COD for maintenace weeks might as well get my butt into shape. :kickbutt:

I'm in for 6 pounds and 2 inches off the pudgy fluff I've added to my midsection the last month. It's dinner out both Friday and Sunday this weekend, so I'll be juicing and starting come Monday.

I'm in also. I went WI today and was down to 187.2. I have been on plan for 4 weeks and have lost 13 3/4lbs and 6 1/2 inches. So, let's see what I can do by Valentine's Day.

I'm in for the 15 lbs. I will set my ticker up now.

Well I lost nothing over the holidays! Not one ounce! But heck I did not gain! I really want to be down a size by March so I am in for 10 pounds this month! There are 2 dozen bagels from New York (a gift from family, damn family!) in my freezer calling my name, but I refuse to listen! Heck, bagels are just doughy, soft, chewy bits of heaven... not, um they are horrid! Inedible! Not worth my effort. (Right?)
I think I updated my ticker, not really sure. Hope it worked. T

Ok, I will try this.. :lol:. I have only been successful at one challenge, and it was last year sometime. Joni set it up. It lasted for two weeks, and I did well. It was a contest one, and Evette won, and I beleive made her goal in that challenge........but I will try once again to pull off a challenge. Did the TBL challenge start already? Was kinda thinking about that too :) I will set up a ticker tomorrow when I WI. It has been over a month since I WI, but I am telling pants are TIGHT!!!! :lol:

Nicole- you CAN do this! No setting yourself up for failure. Make yourself believe you have to do this!

I just changed my ticker to reflect my 3lb holiday gain!!! YIKES! I think it was probably worse, but since I've been pretty good and haven't checked the scale, I only get to see the last three lbs. My pants are definitely tight.....

Okay so what I am understanding about this challenge is that it's basically like our little challenges we have on here. Except there are VERY strict rules and it is broken into teams like TBL. Weigh in's are incredibly important. You have to have your weight posted by every Monday 11:59pm or you have to claim a freebie week. After 2 freebie weeks have been claimed, and you miss a weigh-in, you get booted off your team. Looking back through the previous BL challenges there were a lot of people who posted a starting weight, or went a couple of weeks then never returned! I would say this hurt the teams chances of winning a lot! In the FAQ's she posted that the results are calculated by %. So if there was a huge number of people starting out and the 1/4 dropped out, I wonder if she would cut that 1/4 from the final percentage? If not, it is going to look like only 3/4 of the team lost weight and the other 1/4 would show no loss because they didnt post. WOW, I got a lot of questions... lol But still I am veryy excited!

I LOVE challenges.. I have been on track 100% with Valentine's Day in mind to get a nice new red dress and head out with hubby. So the ticker is moving.. and Aunt Flo is here too so I'm hoping that means by Monday it will slide slide the right.
I did TBL the first time around last year and came in second for my team.. it was great to have the accountability and you also get to chat with a lot of people that are on different plans so you get a wealth of info.

Nicole we are neck and neck!!! I was weighing in at 214.2 on Jan 1. and set my goal for 15 so I will hit 199 too!!! and we are the same hight, right? 5' 7"? We can do this!!!!

I am in on this too. I just got weighed today so I have a starting weight and will add a ticker for it in a minute or two. I am looking forward to this as I have finally got back on track. And with all this darn snow we are getting day after day lately exercise isn't too much of a problem cause I keep having to shovel the stuff!!! My goal is 10 lbs. So 225 lbs by Feb 14. Haven't seen that weight in about 5 years now.

I finally faced the music and went to the COD (it wasn't as bad as I expected!) I am down 1 lb. Now, keep in mind that is 1 lb from where I started prior to Christmas. According to my home scale I am down 7 lbs this week. But, for the challenge I am going with my pre-christmas weight. Whew...I can do this...I sure hope so anyway :)

I thought I was so POP yesterday but I got to thinking that my portions were too big and I made split pea soup and forgot that the I am supposed to count it as one starch and 3 veggies (way too many) so I was over on veggies and starch. But the soup was great I loved it.

Just checking in on this challenge - finally. I'm down 1/2 pound this morning to 174.5. At least a little loss is better than a gain. I'm still hoping to lose the Christmas baggage I gained on this challenge. That would get me back down to 170. Here's to a POP day for everyone.

And I got a PM from Chellez about my official starting weight for TBL challenge also. I sent her my weight yesterday. Hopefully some of us will be on the same teams. If not at least we'll meet others on the same mission as all of us and maybe gain some insight from them as to their strategies that may differ from ours and we can help each other.

I am back. I have not been successful at challenges, but it never stops me from joining them I stayed around 170 during the holidays which was my intention and am now ready to lose again. I am going to put in for a maybe 5 lbs. I lose very slowly and may not even meet that, but I am going to reset my ticker to 170 and begin anew. Sorry for the late join,

Amy don't fret.. I'm living in the same pair of jeans lately. I allowed myself to creep back up on the scale and the 6, yes 6, new pairs of dress pants I bought myself in November don't fit.. so when it comes time to go out and get dressed up.. I can't! I had to return some clothes hubby bought me for Xmas today ... I asked the store for a credit so I can come back after our VD challenge and get something that I should wear instead of something I have to cram my fold into today!

Today is a bad day. I had to go and buy BIGGER jeans. Mine are just too tight and I am uncomfortable ALL THE TIME. I am so depressed....

Jeans shrink, some cuts fit better. Just make it your goal to throw out the bigger jeans with hardly any wear.

On day 2 of the FF, so hopefully I'll get off the 3 pounds of holiday weight and then knock off a couple of more. Now as soon as I finish inventory ****, I'll be back up to my 90 minute work-outs and on the way to getting the six-pack back.

Hi everyone,

I am finally back.... I work in retail and once the rush for the holidays was done then we had returns galore and then we had to jump right into inventory so let me tell you I am glad that today is done. Now we are back to normal. I work at Toys R Us. But I am back now. I go get weighed in the morning ( and I am a little afraid at what the results will be... But That's ok cause it is a new year and new beginnings. I didn't cheat much during the holidays but I didnt get all my water in on most days and being so busy I didnt get all my foods in either.) so I will update all my tickers and send my WI for TBL challenge. I hope your all well. See you all in the morning.

Amylou- It was funny, I guess the amy part of your SN stuck out, but was happy to see your name on the PM too! I am excited.

I bought my jeans at Torrid, which I think runs a little smaller. I guess it's because it's a juniors plus type store?? I know I would easily fit into a 14W or a 16W at Lane Bryant or Avenue, but was forced to get an 18 and a 20. I was so upset. I have been in such a foul mood all night now. I was a 12 darnit!

Oh well, it's MAJOR motivation, believe me!

Thanks for the support guys, I know you understand. I vent to my BF who loves me the way I am, but it's not the same!

So, I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but are there prizes involved with the TBL contest?!?

Well now that you explain the situation it's not that bad! I haven't bought jeans there but I would guess that they run smaller. No big deal, just time to start losing some inches!

I am also super excited for TBL challenge on here! Wouldn't it be awesome if some of us were on the same team?? Either way I'm rooting for all of you!

This Cupid in Training is still POP.. since Jan 2nd and feeling good. Looking forward to getting back into my other pants so I can stop wearing my safety jeans!
I made a recipe last night that I'm going to share since it was fantastic and might be a good Valentine's Day supper for you or you and a sweetie or family member.

Bok Choy and Mushroom Stirfry

1 oz whole wheat linguine
4oz bok choy sliced
4oz ****ake mushroom sliced
(can add uncooked chicken or shrimp according to portion size)

Cook pasta and drain. Meanwhile heat 2 tsp olive oil in large skillet over med high heat and add mushroom, bokchoy and protein. Stirfry until meat is cooked and vegetables tender crisp. In a small bowl mix 1 tbsp lo sodium teriyaki sauce, 1 tbsp lo sodium soy, 1 tsp fresh minced ginger and 2 tbsp cooking sherry. Once protein and veg are cooked add sauce and cooked pasta and stirfry for 2 minutes until coated. Top with 2 green onions sliced and Enjoy!

Bok choy is a chinese green.. looks like a lettuce and leek that cross bred!
You cut the base off like a celery and then use the leaves like romaine.. thicker and crunchier on the bottom and leafy on the top.. it was the best meal I've had in ages and it felt like Take out.. that is going to be my dinner on TBL nights!

I went to w/i this morning and WOW, I'm down to 151.2. I can't believe it. But, this weekend, I put myself on Green/Plan 1. I think the COD already thought I was on Plan 1 anyway, so... But it worked! I'm down 3.4, so I just might make the Valentines Day goal along with my personal goal by then! WOOHOO. Congrats to all the other losers.

Cathy and Amy - thanks! Amy, I really think the reason I have been able to do what I have done is because I live alone. A gal at work mentioned that weekends are tough for her because of her husband, kids, etc. I'm not real social, so don't go out very much. There is the parent/grandparent factor, but that isn't very often. I also don't have the stress of work AND school! :-) You will get there. You've done well so far - WOW - almost 50 pounds!! Great job!

Well, I WI in about an hour and I'm totally nervous! For some reason last Friday I was up 1.2, even though I've been POP since Jan 1! It was totally discouraging and really hard to stay on track all weekend after a gain for no good reason. Hoping I don't have a Friday curse.

I'll post when I get back and let you all know how I did. I freakin' love this board and especially this thread. I'll have to get a picture up soon so you can all put a face w/ a name.

Had a real hard a$$ counsel me today. She gave me a hard time b/c I wanted to have a few beers tonight and asked how to count them. Made me committ to not drinking until after my 1st four weeks. I'm a bit of a party-girl so this is really hard.

She said I could work them in after 4 weeks, but they prefer that we leave out alcohol all together. All about empty calories & screwing up our metabolism.

But that'll be my reward to myself for being POP for 4 weeks. I'll go out and have a few drinks w/ my friends.

Until then, I guess it's chillin' at home w/ the DF!!

OMG! Jill me too love to go out! I actually posted a thread when I first started called "alcohol"! You should check it out. I actually did opt to be sober for the first 4 weeks and it actually ended up being 40 days! Wow! I was so suprised that I went that long! I definately think it was the best thing for me at the time! So stick to it! I promise it will help!

I'll tell ya what though, I partied HARD over the holidays so taking a little break and detoxing will probably do me good. I also used to be a smoker, but got it down to only smoking when I drank. I've had 1 cigarette since NYE. I bet they would totally taste nasty to me now. But I know that if I had a cocktail, a cigarette would be soon to follow. Bad, bad habits.

I feel so freakin' healthy right now. It's weird. But fabulous!

Thanks Amy! I will stick to it. No beer here! It actually is really nice waking up on Saturday mornings feeling great and well-rested. Makes for a much better weekend. I haven't really had any temptation about going out so far. Everyone is kind of broke after the holidays and laying low.

I'm a wine-o also. I also really like beer. Okay, so I like it all. But I have really acquired a taste for wine over the last year and I got a bunch of bottles from friends and family for Christmas this year. They are sitting (unopened of course!) in my fridge right now. I swear every time I open the fridge they are looking at me and saying "drink me!".

Personally, I wouldn't be able to deal w/ a party right now and would skip it. I've told all of my friends what I'm doing and was really surprised to find out how supportive everyone is. I had a dinner party planned mid-month and told my friends we would have to cancel. One of my best guy friends said he totally understood and would rather have me be lame over the winter so he can have his super-fun, crazy, dancin' friend back this summer. Made me feel really good

How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? I just turned 32 on New Year's Eve and boy do I feel it! I'm just not ready to look it. So this weight has to come off. My 20 lb reward to myself is to get my hair professionally dyed to get rid of these stupid grey hairs. I can't believe I already have greys.

I tried to upload my pic a minute ago so we'll see if it works w/ this post.

I am 27. Just turned 27 on the the 28th of Dec. It's sounds like your friends are being really great! I am happy! I was soo suprised that I could actually go out to the bar and not drink. Everyone else seemed pretty amazed. I probably went to the bar about 10 times during my 40 days of being sober. And it got better each time. So don't think you can't do stuff and not have fun just because you aren't drinking it is defiantely possible. I still dont' see a picture??????

Okay, I know I'm late, but I'm in for 12. That would get me to my goal as far as COD is concerned. Also, DH went with me for that first visit and my reward when I make goal is for us to take dance lessons together. Wouldn't that be a nice Valentine's Day present?!

DH is trying to wiggle out of dance lessons now! He jokingly said the other day that that agreement was only valid if I made it by my goal date, which was December 19. :( I think I can get around that using my feminine wiles ;), but just in case, I thought of another reward over the weekend. He has recently taken up smoking - I've smoked off and on over the years, but much more off lately than on. I figure why would I work this hard to lose this weight and improve my health and then take years off by smoking?! But I digress...he's been smoking more and more lately so I think I'll tell him I'll let him off the hook for dance lessons if he'll quit smoking. I don't want to enjoy my new self without him which is what I'm afraid of if he doesn't start taking better care of himself.

Don't worry - I'll still take dance lessons! My dad died about a year and a half ago and mom has mentioned several times since then that she wanted to learn to clog or line dance or something. DH wasn't interested in line dancing since he abhors country music, but that's more up my alley than the mambo or samba. Sooooo, I'll go take line dance lessons with mom and tell DH he can just quit smoking as my reward.

What do ya'll think of that?!

Well, I couldn't believe it when I saw it so I made myself weigh in three days in a row. I am down! only 1# to my valentines goal! It feels so good to see some progress and remember I am doing this without my COD. I basically held steady all December as I did not want to fuss around the holidays. But I have been trying to be really good and now I see progress! I am so happy I could stand on my head.

Oh this challenge is becoming a lot tougher than I thought it would be, I am still only down 2 lbs for this challenge and I have less then a month to lose 10 lbs. Like that's going to happen. Well I am doing TO today and tomorrow and then going back to the white book LA Express for a week. So hopefully that helps.

BTW - 1-2# per week is considered healthy. More is not healthy, good for your body or maintainable. You will start to burn muscle mass at that rate and because muscle burns more calories then fat you set yourself up for stalling later. It takes time to do this right. See my motto, In for the long haul, and remember that loosing is just the start after that you have to stay in your new body.
You know I was so excited about being down, I forgot I actually put in for 10# so I still have 5# to go. No problem, I can do that. Right?

I will celebrate with you as I was down 2.6 lbs today! Finally broke through my weeklong plateau. Maybe being sick did have something to do w/ me hanging on to that weight.

It is soooooooooooooo good to see my ticker move!

Here's what I did to try and jump start the loss.

1. Drank an extra 32 ounces of water - that makes 96 ounces total
2. Ate ALL of my food
3. Exercised an extra minute - I'm up to 14 minutes on the treadmill now. Doesn't seem like much but I started only being able to do 10.
4. Did not TOUCH the salt shaker

I'm so happy and very motivated going into the weekend! Hope everyone is doing well! Maybe I will actually make that Valentine's Day goal.....

I feel very empowered right now. Like I might actually have some control over this weight thing. I think that the small changes I made the last couple of days really made a difference!

I guess I need to be more conscientious about what I'm putting in my mouth instead of mindlessly eating and not realizing what it is I'm eating until later!! I was POP yesterday and so far today. Had Chinese for dinner and now I am wearing a pound of retained water! Grrr...
Today will be low sodium and lemon water! The place we went to has a Mongolian BBQ. You get to pick your foods from a selection of meats, veggies and condiments. They cook it for you on a very hot grill, no fat if you do not add it. I had just veggies but I accidentally put to much soy sauce on. Even my hands feel swollen today. Next time I will put my sauce on after it is cooked.

Well - it had to happen sooner or later. I fell off the wagon over the weekend. :mad:

My dad was in and out of the hospital last week and over the weekend and after visiting him on Sunday, I came home and was like "I want to order a pizza". My DF of course was like "you deserve a day off" and it all went downhill from there......and the pizza wasn't that good and it made me sick.

I was sooooooooo scared to WI yesterday, but I was down .6. Thankfully I did not gain. But I'm still disappointed in myself for cheating.

Anyhow - my little binge made me feel like crap so it was really easy to get back on track yesterday.

Ha ha! Jill I think this would be on your plan and it is sooo good! Cook your chicken in hot sauce. I use franks red hot sauce. I still eat this like at least once a week. Another option is Low sodium teryaki sauce with veggies! yum! Maybe these will help you out!

You need to start sneaking in veggies. I add veggies to my breakfast, lunch ect. Low fat/calories pasta sauce can count as a veggie so can salsa. Both are good at brightening flavors. You can do it. Just star being creative.

The probelm with the veggies is the limited amount I like:p. I don't do tomatoes (except in pasta sauce and try to limit that because of the sodium - see Dan, I listen;)). I really only do: green beans, mushrooms, lettuce, asparagus, broccoli, and tomato sauce. Onions and Peppers don't like me and I don't like the rest. I just have to broaden my view of them. I am working on it. It is just really slow going.

At this point, there is no room for slip ups! Three weeks of consistent POP will give us all 6 more lbs or more right?! Let's do this thing!

Congrats to you all who are SOO close to your goal. For those of us with 7+ lbs to lose-let's get movin! From the vday challenge we can roll right into a St. Patty's day challenege so don't stress if you have a couple lbs to roll over!

With that said, I think we all need to be serious about a POP challenge up to Feb 14th. Who's with me?!??? Even the weekends-let's meet these goals!

Ah are a girl after my own heart. I too, hate vegtables! So funny 'cuz we're almost exactly the same on what we will & won't eat!

I make sure to sneak some in at each meal so it doesn't ovewhelm me. I have to have 6 servings a day! I do much better during the week 'cuz I take a bunch of carrots and cut up cucumbers to work and snack on them all afternoon w/ a little ranch dressing. It gets 3 servings in for me.

Cecilia we have the same amount to lose! I have 8 pounds left also. I seem to have just bolted through my plateau and am losing pretty steadily now, so it just might be doable ;)

I am back on the other side of my Chinese food fiasco. It took two days of HLW and patience. Of course I ate all my food by 1:30 today so tonight I get more water, chicken broth and an early bed time. Actually looking forward to the early bedtime. WI is Fri wish me luck.

Cecil- Are you staying POP? Like no cheats at all?? We have 3 weeks so you can still get pretty close to goal if not pass it! Try turning up your workouts a little, or do a day with only light starches, like wheat thins, melba toast, etc. Amy told me to do this and it really helps. Do you think there is anyway you are retaining water? I am down 2.2 lbs from Monday by just sticking strictly to the book and drinking a little extra water! I hope you can get out of this rut! If you need to go look up the Plateau buster and see if it helps! You can do this!!!

You are right I work at a coffee shop and we have these amazing smoothies and sometimes there are left overs I have gotten use to taking a few sips... otherwise yes I have been POP. So really no I haven't been. I will not do that anymore! thanks for the pep talk! I know I can do this.... Heres to staying pop! My Straches really aren't that heavy usually I use this new cheerios mix which is the same as wheat thins and then light bread and a half a spinach tortilla sometimes nilla waffers? Anyting you would suggest staying away from. COD said just keep doing what you are doing. No suggestions at all..... ugh!

When I was having problems I upped the H2O to 96 oz, added an extra minute on the treadmill & did not touch the salt shaker.

Had a great loss the next WI. Don't get discouraged! I know it's so hard not to get focused on the scale. I freak out when the scale doesn't do what I want it to.

Direct that focus to making some little changes to get past your plateau. And stop w/ the BLT's (Bites, Likes & Tastes)!! Those aren't doing you any good!

My suggestions on starches are to think complex carbohydrates, whole grains, and nutrient dense. Stay away from processed foods such as nilla wafers and try bulgar, spelt, and wild/brown rice. they are more filling, have more nutrients, and more fiber.
I try to not eat flour or sugar more than once a day. I can have lite bread or RF wheat thins but only as one of my starches the others are more substantial.
Recipe for bulgar pilaf:
Saute green or regular onions, garlic, mushrooms, finely chopped carrots, any of your favorites veggies, until just soft. The more veggies the better. I aim for 1 cup when cooked.
Add 1 cup bulgar (cracked wheat) 2 cups FF chicken broth (veggie is good too), salt, and 1tsp curry or sage (any spice/herb works) . Stir, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 15min. add 1 cup frozen peas and let sit for 10 min. Fluff and serve.
1/2 C = 1S, 1/2V
This is great with any lean protein and veggie, keeps in the fridge for days.

So scared for WI today!! You know how sometimes you can just tell that you haven't lost or are up? That's how I feel today:(

I almost don't want to go!

I feel like my body hasn't really let go of anything the last couple of days. I'm sure it's b/c I went a little wild when I got the new plan. I stayed POP, but made some not so great choices (beef, pizza). Couldn't help it......I was so sick of chicken and fish.

I'm over it now, and actually looking foward to making teryaki chicken for dinner tonight! Had pizza last night (plain cheese from pizza hut) and it wasn't even that good!

Wish me luck on the WI. I go in over lunch and I'll post when I get back.

Just got back from my WI and was down 1lb. Not great but it is in the right direction and next week can be better.

So I'm one lb closer to my V-Day goal and only 3 weeks left.....

Good job on the loss Katy.

It appears that I have found your lost weight. I was up .2 today. I kind of had an idea that was the case so it's a little easier to handle.

I am surprisingly calm......I usually freak out when the scale is mean. Does this mean I'm officially an LA Weight Losser?

I know what I have to salt, lots of water, a little more exercise. Now get to it!! I'm hoping to stay focused all weekend so Monday's WI will be better.

Jill, .2 is a matter of peeing before you get on the scale! Dont worry, I think as long as you staying around the same weight, especially when cheats are involve, then you are doing great!

Well after my Chinese food fiasco where I had enough sodium to pack on 2.5# in one night I am down a sum total of 1.5# for the week. I only changed my ticker for 1# because that is the kind of person I am. I am only 4# from V-day goal and 9 from personal goal.
I am thinking about adding 5# to my personal goal. I picked 165 randomly because it put me into a normal BMI. But now I think 160-155 would be a more realistic weight. I still look pretty overweight (read FAT) and would like to be wearing a 10-12 not 12-14.
What do you all think? Am I being weird? (could happen)
The thought of getting into a medium pant is calling my name. But I need to be able to maintain what ever I achieve because I am not going back-EVER!

I'm in too!! I love a good V-day challenge. i am very close to my goal weight, yet I keep going up and down those same 2-3 lbs! So frusterating! As soon as i start losing again, I seem to get really hungry and pig out. Same cycle. I would like to lose 6 lbs by v-day...thats 2 lbs a week!!

Tues - We are the same height and weight. My original goal was 165 for no apparent reason other than I just picked a number out of the air. I decided to try for 160 to see if I would be able to maintain that number and also feel good. I remember when I was younger (read 20 years ago) I weighed around 155 - 160 and I felt great. Lots of energy, full of pep, looked hot - you know the drill. Well I have aged a little since then and have decided that maybe 160 - 165 would be better for me. I'm having a devil of a time getting there but am determined to do it. I'm going to start really watching what I eat and how much and also start to exercise more to see if I can get there faster and get off this plateau I've been on since August. I know this doesn't answer your question but wanted to let you know my journey.

Laurie & Tuesday - looks like we're all the same height and with very similar goals. It's nice to kind of compare myself to others with like body sizes to reassure me that I haven't set an unreasonable goal.

Well, talk about getting there step by about lb by lb. My losses have been so slow I'm not sure I'll make the Valentine's goal, but I'm not giving up yet.

I have two issues causing my slow loss. First, I'm not exercising like I, I'm determined to get on that treadmill more this week. Second, I keep messing up and going over on my starches...yes, of course the worst thing to go over on. I've got to get all this under control.

Like I said, I'm not giving up and I'm determined to get a bigger loss this week...just gotta keep my head on straight.

Paula - I'm with you on the exercising more. I made my mind up that I will start that process this week. I'm going to check out a couple of places that are near where I work and start going at least 3 times a week. I plan on doing that the entire month of February and see where I am at the end of the month. By doing that maybe it will keep me more focused on everything else. We will do this even if it is, as Lynn said, ounce by ounce!!

Down 2 pounds since Friday!! Got to move my ticker today :carrot:

I'm 1/2 way on the V-Day goal. 7 pounds is a lot to lose in 2 weeks. I think I might have overshot when I set the goal.

I'm going on an overnight trip tomorrow w/ some friends to a concert.

I know I'll probably go over on my alcohol, but will get TONS of cardio in dancing at the show. I'm not really worried about food, I feel strong enough to make good choices even if eating out.

I'll be happy if I've stayed the same at my next WI. I REALLY don't want to gain. Any advice?

Ha! Jill you are just like me it's too funny! I never worry about food choices the only thing I worry about is alcohol consumption. My advice is try to drink a glass of water in between every drink. I was told a good choice is a wine spritzer but I don't like them... maybe you will?
Also any alcohol with diet soda. Mixed drinks are better then beer! And lots of water! Water! Water! Have a grreat time!

I drink a glass of wine every night! I trade a fruit and just go for it! I love a good wine it give me so much pleasure. I made a commitment to myself to lose weight but not to take away all my pleasures. I feel no guild I am down and winning the battle. I do not eat after my glass of wine that is my one restriction.

Yay Jill-good loss!

My yo-yo is continuing, but not for long. With just over 2 weeks left to get to goal- I am hitting it hard. I've exercised the past three days and have been POP since SUnday. I WILL keep this up...and I know I will see a big loss once TOM passes. I can't wait to FINALLY move the ticker!

Tuesday and Laurie, I'm not doing the challenge just piping in on the whole weight goal number. I'm 5'4" so 4 inches shorter than both of you. My original goal was 150 just because I had no idea where I wanted to be and had to put a number down. I told them from the beginning that when I got to a SIZE I was happy with I was stopping. My goal was to get in a size 12. I accomplished that. Depending on what I'm buying, I'm a 10-12. I would think 4 more inches of height and the same weight as me would make you pretty thin in my opinion. We're all different, we all carry our weight in different ways. Guess what I'm trying to say is, dont get so caught up in a number. If you feel good and you're happy with the way you look in your clothes then stop. I could have beaten myself up about not making it to my original goal but like I said, that number was just a starting point. Good luck with your continued journey!!

Thanks Kim. I guess I am "caught up in the number" because I'm just having a hard time with weighing 170. When I started I told the COD I wanted to lose 30 pounds which would have gotten me to 168. I'm still really thinking hard about that number. It's only 7 pounds away for me. And I'm currently in 8-10 clothes. I'll have to give this some more thought. Thanks for your insight. And as Katy said - you look awesome and how can we argue with that?

Ahem - please note my ticker. I was down 3 lbs today at WI!! I went to Omaha for an overnight trip. I did have a few extra cocktails but stayed POP as far as food went. I think the loss was due to lots of dancing at the show. We danced for 3 straight hours and I didn't sit down once. It was AWESOME to have that kind of stamina!! I used to have to stop and rest alot b/c my back would start to hurt or I'd just get tired.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love this program???

I may go up a bit now that I'm back to normal life b/c I didn't really eat that much while we were gone. The boys were eating crap and lots of fast food. I can't stomach that stuff now. It makes me sick.

It is so funny b/c I hit the 20 pound mark today, the end of the month. I lost exactly 20 pounds my first month of this program.

Woo hoo!! Everyone keep at it! It works!

Ugh! Up 1 lb. I freakin' knew it. I didn't eat much when I was out of town so I knew once I started eating normally again, I'd probably gain a little back of the 3 lb loss I had. But a whole pound??? :?:

Doing nothing this weekend but hanging out w/ my dogs and trying to get my house in order. It is just plain wrong what damage the DF can do when left on his own for 24 hours!!

I went to WI today and was down almost 2 lbs. Which is great considering when I went in on Wed. I was up a pound. I finally broke the 180 mark. I am only 7 lbs away from Valentine's goal. I don't know about loosing 7 lbs in less than 2 weeks. But I am worth the effort.

I'm finally back to my ticker weight. I was actually lower on the COD scale than my home scale. Yes, I weigh myself every day at home (but only first thing in the morning), it's to keep myself honest and to help solidify that it's only a number, that number isn't me. It's also to help myself when I try something new - was it good for me or not type thing. Good luck to everyone - we have just under two weeks!

Tuesday Cool was right in that it is the attempt that really matters ... the results are the icing, SO ...

With that being said, I would love to know ... Good or Bad ... what people have learned from doing this challange.

I have learned that even though I know I can be accountable to myself, it still helps to have this kind of environment to get the :woohoo: when I am doing good and the :kickbutt: when I have been less than steller.

I would just like to throw out a big:congrat: to those who made their goal this time, a :crossed: to those that are almost there, and a :grouphug: to those that have tried their best and fell just a little short this time. I say we all channel our inner drill sargent:drill: and keep pushing on.

Turtle or the hare? I don't care! As long as we make it there.

Kelly, my motivation has been valentines day! And the weight that I am at now, my husband has never seen me at! I was around 235 when we started dating. This may be TMI, But I may have to shop for some new lingerie for V Day!!

I have tried many challenges before and failed horribly. The fact of the matter is that I had been stuck at 240 since OCTOBER! I think the thing about this challenge was that it did begin at the beginning of a new year, and I made a resolution to stay POP and exercise! Granted I haven't kept it exactly, but I have lost over 10 lbs since the beginning of this year!!

Good luck everyone!! If your goal is out of reach, just make a new one, even if it is only 2 lbs by Vday, shoot for that then you will be on a roll!!!

Not TMI ... I was just thinking the same thing the other day. I have clothes to get into, but the rest ... need to shop ... what to come with me;) I think we are close to the same size (I think I am still heavier than you, but I am trying to catch up:running:)

My DH is a Firefighter/Paramedic and he actually has V-Day off:val1:. I think I am dropping the DS with my parents and having a grown-up only night for a change (figure since the DS only has a 1/2 day at school the next day it might work!)

Tuesday – good point. I am definitely still guilty of scale fixation. I’m just not quite there yet. The number is still defining me a little bit. It is something I really want to work on.

Kelly - I have learned from this challenge that this weight is not going to magically fly off my body no matter how bad I want it to. It is going to be very hard work and it is going to take a REALLY long time. I’m not quite sure how to process that……..

Kimberly - what a milestone! Definitely not TMI!! I keep track of those also, like what I weighed when we moved into our house, went on vacation in Jamaica, when we met, etc. I bet it feels good huh?? You are inspiring me!

I was down .8 today at WI. Good, but not quite good enough, still up 1.6 from last week. Yet, I know what I need to do and I just have to do it. I have gotten into a horrible habit of not eating enough during the day and then having a ton of food left when I get home at night. I must work on turning that around and I know I will have better results. I really wanted to have 25 total off before Florida (next weekend).

BUT I have lost 18.4 POUNDS since January 1 and none of my pants fit me :D. That is awesome and exactly what I need to focus on. Thanks for making me see the positive! I really need that sometimes, as I tend to dwell on what I see as failures. This forum has been KEY in keeping me focused, positive and motivated. THANK YOU ALL!!

Speaking of pants, I thought that I would have the next smallest size in my closet somewhere, but I somehow just seemed to skip 32 (my too big pants are 34). What the heck did I wear while I was gaining this weight? Did I just walk around in my underwear? :fr:

Made my goal! For some reason this month has been going well for me. I have kept from sabotaging my plans and stayed on track. At the beginning of the year I dropped the lites and added a 1/2 protein. Plus I now let myself basically have unlimited veggies - just not the condiments or salt that go on them.

I am positive my weight is finally going in the right direction. I have lost 23 lbs! Whoo hoo! 2 lbs and I am half way to my overall goal! Good luck to all. I am not even disappointed that I didn't reach my valentines day goal. Just happy I am losing at all! Good luck!

I am still looking forward to 229 by the 14th, but I have actually given myself til the 16th (DS birthday) for mine and DH's deal. But after last night Im thinking maybe we shouldnt go eat wherever I want to...

As bad as I feel today, I think I broke myself from binging like that. I am so constipated, (TMI sorry lol) and my stomach feels terrible! I think I taught myself a lesson!!

I feel your pain Kimberly......I way blew it this weekend. Went over on my liquid starches on Friday and woke up Saturday morning craving greasy food.

Drinking is so bad for me. It puts me right back into my old ways. I did get back on track yesterday and so far, so good today. But I'm scared for WI. I was supposed to go today and didn't.

I can't see anyone's anyone else having this issue?

I was down another 1.4 at WI today! Whooo hoo! I will not make my goal I can gaurantee that but I will be close. I bet I will be at 9 lbs by thursday and that i good enough. 9 out of 12 aint so bad! Ha!

Well the scale was 232 this morning so hopefully takeoff will push me to my Vday goal! DH already said he would take me out either way and I said NO! I dont want to be rewarded for not meeting my goal! I would be just as happy with cooking something here...
